JAY — !

probably the one who's very professional about it. he knows how to separate his work and private life, and is actually quite good at it, but he can't stop looking at you. you'd be in middle of a music bank interwiew and his eyes would be on you; like, someone would have to remind him to stop looking at you and face the camera instead. is your biggest fan and posts about you the way he posts about seventeen. you drop one new mv and he's on weverse, telling everyone to check out your new song because it's so good ( remeber he's trying to act normal about it ) you both get in so many dating scandals and he just hopes that both of your labels would stop denying it someday</3

JAKE — !

stays ten feet away from you on camera. he was told to keep things low since both of you are at the beginning of your career and my guy understood the assignment. you wouldn't spot him near you on camera, no jakeyn selca, fans are suffering. however, he makes up for it by sending gifts. if you won an award, he'll send flowers. they're from jake but they're tagged as 'from enhypen' because ,,, secrecy. never leaves a chance to praise you like, if someone asks about his favourite artist, your name is the first to roll off his lips; and then he'll go own about how your whole discography deserves Grammy tbh. jungwon has to remind him to stop before their cover blows away

SUNGHOON — !

it varies to be honest. there are days when you subtly brush your hand against his on camera and he goes 'eek!' as if he has never experienced human touch before. other days, he flirts with you on camera during interviews and wonyoung is literally found third-wheeling. your relationship isn't really a secret. there are dating speculations, company doesn't deny or conforms it, and fans are having a blast. likes to see your reaction when he deliberately gets close to you in public so expect him to tease you a lot. randomly posts his selfies with you on enhypen's twitter account and goes 'someone asked for ynhoon selca' like stfu hoon, no one asked

he's someone who's very real about it. sunoo admires you as an artist, a person, and someone he loves, and he isn't afraid to show it to everyone rightfully. everyone knows he's a big fan of your music so find him talking about you on all the shows he attends and every live he does. 'i've been listening to yn's music a lot these days' this line, all 365 days of the year. remembers the choreo and does tiktoks with you, hangs out with you in public occasionally, posts pictures at times, might as well vote for you, honestly; and the best part of this is that it doesn't seem like you both are dating. it's more like a healthy friendship in the idol community that everyone adores, so you both get to spend a lot of time together without caring much about scandals and all

JUNGWON — !

being a leader has many responsibilities and dealing with you is one of those. he's trying so hard to hide your relationship from dispatch and you're here, doing the exact opposite. it's playful, really, and you understand the depth of the situation, but jungwon tends to panic at tiniest of the events and you can't help but do it again to get a cute reaction put of him. you'd playfully slap his butt on camera ( while being really secretive by the way ) and he'll see his whole career flash before his eyes. you're literally just complimenting him in front of his own fans and man's having an internal crisis because the mischievous glint in your eyes tells him a different story. well, you both have made it this far and his fingers are crossed so that you can make it till the company decides to disclose your relationship

NIKI — !

you both are menaces. the fans consider you best friends who love to hangout every weekend and spend quite a lot of time together but in reality, you both are just couples who are out with hopes that someone would move on from the best friend allegations to dating speculations soon because things have gotten exhausting. he's so done with everyone : niki talks about you almost every time he's on camera, promotes your music better than your own label, has done a couple of vlives with you but you both never manage to beat the best friend allegations. definitely tries to steal kisses in front of camera and gives everyone a heart attack. the day media catches on to the truth is the way ynki stands win </3

now onto the story!

“ Me in your sweater

You said it looked better on me than it did you

Only if you knew how much I liked you ”

“Jungwon-ah!” Jungwon heard, causing him to look up from his phone and turn his head. Jungwon was unable to hide the smile making itself known on his face as he saw Jay.

“Jay-hyung, you’re here,” Jungwon said as Jay took his seat across from Jungwon. A slight shiver washed over Jungwon as the wind passed by, due to the pair eating outdoors on a December 3rd night, it was bound to be cold. The shiver from Jungwon didn’t go unnoticed by Jay who was now taking off his sweater, leaving him in a turtleneck that clung tightly to his body. 

“Wear this, it’s cold,” Jay said.

“What about you?” Jungwon asked, not wanting his hyung to freeze to death.

“I’m ok, plus my clothes look better on you,” Jay joked. As Jungwon wore the sweater, the familiar scent of Jay’s cologne washed over him and a slight tinge of red showed on his cheeks, his heart beating slightly faster than a few seconds earlier.

Jay was excited as the food came and he couldn’t wait to tell Jungwon his news. Of course, he’d tell the other members later on but he wanted Jungwon to know first. It was hard for Jay, keeping his girlfriend a secret from everyone but Heather was understanding and accepted that dating Park Jongseong of enhypen came at the cost of secrecy. Still, Jay felt that at least someone deserved to know of Heather, and what better person to tell than Jungwon? When dinner was nearing its end,

“I have something to tell you,” Jay said. Jungwon noted how Jay’s eyes lit up and the smile was one of genuine happiness. Jungwon wondered what made Jay this happy and how he could see Jay smile like this again. Leaning back into his chair,

“What is it?” Jungwon asked. With a slight chuckle and a hint of nervousness,

“I have a girlfriend.”

Those four words that formed a sentence that echoed through Jungwon’s ears, carrying a weight he never knew could feel so heavy. He was worried if anything, what if the girl was someone who just wanted Jay for money and fame? Deep down, he hated that his first thought of Jay’s first girlfriend were thoughts that questioned her character because he knew that whoever Jay’s significant other was one Jay could trust.

“It’s natural for a leader to want the best for his member,” Jungwon thought to himself in an effort to justify what he was thinking and the anger bubbling up inside of him.

“What’s her name?” Jungwon asked, managing to mask his shaky voice.

“Heather.” Jay showed Jungwon pictures of him and Heather on their secret dates that no one knew about. Jungwon hated that the pictures were places that he and Jay have been to and that she was someone he knew he shouldn’t hate but he couldn’t help it. Instead of being honest and telling Jay that he thought Heather was on good, he instead asked questions about her.  Questions that Jay answered eagerly, glad that he finally had someone to talk about his girlfriend with.

“ She’s got you mesmerized while I die

Watched as she stands with her holding your hand

Put your arm ‘round her shoulder

Now I’m getting colder ”

On Valentine’s Day, Jay brought Heather to enhypen’s dorm and introduced her to everyone. From a leader point of view, Jungwon noticed that Heather herself was a moodmaker which was probably what drew Jay to her. She got along with everyone, even Ni-ki couldn’t help himself from talking to her. Jungwon knew that he shouldn’t have gotten jealous when Jay pulled Heather to his lap on the couch like Jay had done to him multiple times. Jungwon knew that Heather wasn’t in the relationship for the sake of fame or money, she had enough of that on her own. What Jungwon didn’t know was why he found his fists clenching as Jay’s arm wrapped around Heather’s shoulder while she tried to reach for a cup in the upper cupboard. Jungwon didn’t know why lumps formed in his throat when he glanced over to Jay whenever jokes were made only to find him smiling at Heather. 

Except, he knew. 

He knew that he wanted Jay’s arm wrapped around his shoulders.

He knew that Jay once glanced over to him whenever a joke was made and they’d share a knowing look.

And he knew that things weren’t going back to the pre-Heather era.

“ I’m a motherf--ing trainwreck

I don’t wanna be too much

But I don’t wanna miss your touch

And you don’t seem to give a f-- ”

As Jay and Heather’s relationship continued, things started changing with Jay and Jungwon. Suddenly, Jay’s back hugs became reserved for Heather, robbing Jungwon of the warmth trademarked by Park Jongseong.

Jungwon hated himself for hating a girl whose only crime was loving Jay, a crime he couldn’t blame anyone for committing.

Jay didn’t notice Jungwon’s jaw clenching when he and Heather held hands. He didn’t notice when Jungwon would glare slightly at Heather whenever she kissed Jay’s cheek. Or maybe he did notice but he played it off as nothing.

“ You ain’t my boyfriend

And I know that we’re just friends

But you don’t want me to see nobody else

And I don’t want you to see nobody ”

Jolene came along one day, she and Jungwon had met at a library one night. It didn’t take long before Jolene and Jungwon went on double dates with Heather and Jay. Jay didn’t like how Jolene ran her hand through Jungwon’s hair. Jay hated the way that Jungwon teased Jolene the same way Jungwon teased him. But most of all, Jay hated that Jungwon and Jolene’s ship name created by the members was Jowon. It was selfish of him to hate that Jungwon was with someone when he was the first one to have a relationship.

But deep down, Jay knew that it should be Jaywon.

“I’m just looking out for Jungwon,” Jay thought to himself like a mantra in an effort to justify why he was starting to focus on Jungwon’s relationship with Jolene instead of his own relationship with Heather.

“ Even though you ain’t mine, I promise the way we fight

Makes me honestly feel like we just in love ” 

The thud of Jay’s fist meeting the sink counter echoed throughout the kitchen as his eyes met Jungwon’s eyes. 

“You’re acting like a child!” Jay said as he glared at Jungwon.

“I’m acting like a child?” The sound of their breathing was all that could be heard as a silence washed over the pair. All the other members were out, leaving Jay and Jungwon home alone. If they were being honest, they themselves didn’t know just why they were arguing right now.

Maybe it was because Jay ran out of honey for his waffles this morning.

Maybe it was because Jungwon forgot to buy some milk and didn’t have any to pour into his cereal.

Maybe it was because they were tired from practice that ran until 3 in the morning.

Maybe it was because they knew they shouldn’t have been having feelings for each other.

Whatever it was, Jay made his way to Jungwon. Jungwon took steps back, his head feeling the cold surface of the refrigerator door.

“Jungwon, what is it that you want?” Jay asked, his eyes almost pleading. Both knew what they wanted but didn’t dare to cross that bridge.

“To be mine,” were the three words Jungwon wanted to say. To scream, if anything. But instead,

“You’re Heather’s boyfriend,” Jungwon whispered.
