not to have npd and autism, but i genuinely don't understand how the opinions of other people have an impact on people's self esteem. like im not saying this in an edgelord-y oh look at me im so cool and stoic way but genuinely why does it matter if other ppl think you're ugly/annoying/etc?? like if you're content with your own personality and/or appearance how does what other people think have any impact on you?

i get that some people treat others like shit when they think they're ugly/annoying/etc and i get how that's an issue, regardless of whether they like or dislike them everyone should be civil and professional to everyone else, but if people just internally feel that they dont like you but otherwise still treat you fairly and decently literally how does what they feel actually matter in any material way? its literally impossible to be liked or respected by everyone, some people just inevitably don't like other people, thats just how people work, and that's literally fine as long as we're all still treating each other decently yknow?

like i don't want to say that letting what others think/feel about you is childish since it obviously isn't, people of all ages seem to be like this, and im pretty sure im the outlier here vis a vi NOT having my self esteem based on what others feel about me, but the idea of ascribing even a spec of value to anyone other than myself's opinion about me is so genuinely incomprehensible to me i can't help but feel that other people are missing out on a super obvious lesson that ive had internalised since i was a kid

is this because im low empathy?? does my npd just make me invulnerable to having my self esteem impacted by anyone other than me? am i just too autistic to be effected by others? is this because im such a consequentialist that i don't care what others think of me as long as they still act civil with me???

The sun shined through the curtains and into the prince's royal chambers, where a certain personal servant was running around with random things from place to place. While a blonde man sat and watched eating his breakfast. "Take a breath, Merlin; you'd swear you're going to be beheaded."

Arthur remarked, tapping his knife against his cup and shaking his head at the other man's frantic behavior

Merlin stood in place for a bit before sliding into the seat across from Arthur. His eyes darted from place to place before he started tapping his hands against the table. "D- do you think I could have the day off?"

The blued-eyed prince squinted before leaning back, not wanting to appear surprised at the request Merlin had made. Shaking his head again, he stared back into Merlin's ocean-like eyes and shrugged. "You're a personal servant. My breaks are your breaks, and I don't get breaks."

He lifted his eyebrows at him trying to get a reaction from him before going back to his food. A soft knock on the door interrupted Merlin, who had wanted to say something.

The two men turned around to see Gwen at the door with Morgana standing in front of her, who beamed brightly. "We wanted to come say happy birthday to Merlin!"

The ward and maid quickly pattered their way to the birthday boy slinging their arms around his shoulders. Morgana ruffled his hair giving him an unkept look while Gwen gave a shy chaste kiss on his cheek making Merlin take on a soft shade of pink.

"You couldn't of led with that Merlin?" .Arthur was now fully leaned back in his seat, his arms folded over his chest, looking like the embodiment of entitled rich boy energy. Merlin gave a small chuckle as he stared down at his lap before looking back at Morgana and Gwen. "Well, I thought you would've known I've only been working for you for what a year and so many months now?"

This made the prince roll his eyes. How was he supposed to pay attention to the little things

He had other things to do winning over the people, impressing his father. Not getting caught with a servant or two. "Well, you never told me about your birthday last year."

He continued to sulk before hopping up from his seat hobbling enformally over to the group and clapping his hand on his shoulder. "Well then you'll have to spend the whole day with me no breaks remember a birthday to remember?"

Cryptids are a form of alien life that first appeared on earth after what was thought to be a meteorite impacted a suburban population center. The specimen seen here is known as a Scout. Though this creature can be easily dealt with when it is encountered alone, scouts usually remain in groups uf up to a dozen or more. They are extremely fast and agile, making them difficult targets. Scouts are slightly stronger than the average human and can overpower their victims with ease when in larger groups. Using their muscular limbs, they are able to leap over extended distances to reach their target. Scouts can climb most vertical surfaces without many issues. As their name implies, the Scout's main purpose is to seek out viable places for their species to live aswell as finding food for their young and bringing it back to their nests that are known as hives. Scouts are extremely aggressive towards any living beings that they perceive as threats to themselves or their nests and will do anything within their power tp ensure that the threat is eliminated. If encountered in the wild enform local law enforcement and leave the area. Local law enforcement will quarantine the immediate area and begin immediate evacuation of civilians from the area to prevent loss of life. Immediate termination of any specimens found is authorized.
