One of our neighbors gave us a bottle of Empress 1908 Elderflower Rose Gin as a thank-you for helping around our building, and it’s a lovely gin that makes a really pretty martini! I only want to use this for classic drinks because I don’t want that gorgeous color or the delicate flavors being eclipsed by stronger ingredients.

my butterfly pea experiments begin!
Right now I'm steeping a "tea" that will be turned into ice cubes but I am also going to infuse some vodka and make a simple syrup with it because...that's how I roll.
(it's also very easy to do all of these things since you need like 3 flowers to get 2 cups of liquid to turn blue so I have a lot of this to work with)
I have to buy some butterfly pea flowers for a project that I'm working on and I'm very excited to get to work with this botanical firsthand. The magical properties of this seem pretty obvious to me (it literally changes colors) but I'm curious if any of y'all use it in your magic in any way. There are so many immediate applications that come to mind in potion making for me - it can be made into syrup, frozen into ice cubes, or infused into liquor.
I cannot wait to find out more!

Dethklok as different types of alcoholic beverages
Toki- Lemon Drop Shots! they’re so good and taste like alcoholic sunshine in your mouth.
Murderface- Whiskey on the rocks, specifically Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey. It’s an acquired taste but good either way.
Skwisgaar- Empress Gin and Blueberry cocktail. It just feels…royal.
Nathan- there’s 2 for Nathan, just a pint of beer (budweiser maybe, it’s between that and Corona) or an Irish Car Bomb (because heh…that’s brutal.)
Pickles- Irish Car Bomb (for obvious reasons) and a long island iced tea.
Added bonuses!
Charles- Scotch on the rocks! simple and sophisticated like that gorgeous man
Dick- Malibu Bay breeze
Magnus- Rum and Coke!
Abigail- Jameson and Gingerale

Daisy Fun-Time Lemon Gin
Codex Entry
Not everything in Antiva is murder, murder, murder. This juniper spirit is flavored with local flowers and fruit, served with tonic and only the merest, most necessary dash of murder.
Ingredients
2 oz gin
1 oz jasmine syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice
2 oz soda water
2-3 dashes of a floral bitters (about 9 drops)
Preparation
Add to mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled
Strain into a coupe or Nick and Nora glass
Garnish with a lemon twist and an edible flower or two
Serve with a murderous gaze
Specific Ingredients in this photograph
Gin: Empress 1908 Indigo gin
Syrup: Bacanha jasmine syrup
Bitters: Bittercube Jamaican No. 2 (now renamed Grapefruit Hibiscus)
Notes
The recipe above is based on a classic gin daisy
Another floral syrup can be substituted, but rose or lavender may overpower the flavor (I would like to try orange blossom soon, though)
See Additional Veilguard Cocktails (most still to come)
Ammazzacaffè | Daisy Fun-Time Lemon Gin | Dew of the Dales | Qun on the Rocks | Vint-6 the Common Red
Outtakes
I found the tea towel too distracting for the final image, but I'm including these for fun.

Introducing the first in my line of Pokémon cocktails - The Shadow Ball!
•2 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
•1 oz Lavender Syrup
•1 oz Lemon Juice
•blackberries (muddled)
•mint (muddled, garnish)
•soda water
•ice
Gengar is a member of my dream team, and I first encountered his pre-evolutions in Lavender Town while playing Fire Red. As such, I went for a sort of lavender blackberry mojito. I didn’t think I was much of a gin person, but this drink is worthy of world champions! Stay tuned as I workshop cocktails for each member of my dream team.

Winning Gin Fizz
In preparation for the first games of the Professional Womens Hockey League (PWHL) I am testing out cocktails for each team that hopefully will make an appearance at my watch party. Next up I am making a drink for the Montreal Victoire.
After a dry spell in research on food specialties in the regions of some other PWHL teams, Montreal came forward with a bang. There were so many incredible reviews and articles on the food scene in Montreal I'm almost considering buying tickets to visit just for this one cool organic wine bar I saw. Anyway, in my research two words kept coming up; sweet and complex. For the main alcohol I went with gin, because the logo of Montreal gave me art deco vibes and when I think of that time period gin is one of the alcohols I think of. The St.Germain is for that French influence and also is the perfect addition. This drink has a lot going on but it all works out. Make sure the botanicals of the gin work with everything else you have going on. I used empress 1908, a really cool Canadian gin that's more floral than juniper berry. But any contemporary gin should work, just avoid a London dry.
In a highball glass add in some ice
Then pour in:
2 ounces gin
½ ounce St Germain
½ ounce honey lavender simple syrup
1 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces bubbly wine like prosecco or champagne
Fill it to the top with tonic water. Stir, sprinkle on some extra lavender buds, and enjoy.
For a mocktail you will want to go with an elderflower tonic water. Add in some lemon juice and the honey lavender syrup. Sprinkle on those lavender buds and enjoy the game!

oh also now that chapter 1 of my new fic (king and lionheart) is up i can post this list of why each character matches up to the cocktails mylo makes for them in the opening scene!!
vi - boulevardier with rye which is basically like a negroni but made with canadian whiskey aka rye instead of gin. vi takes her whiskey neat (her coffee black and her bed at 3), but when this gets made for her she likes it way more than plain whiskey
jinx: peach juice with a metal straw and grenadine on the sides of the glass because canonly she drinks juice at the bar and in this fic she's on some medications that don't mix well with alcohol
ekko: firefly aka vodka, grapefruit juice, and grenadine because of the name and because the grenadine matches jinx's drink and they are In Love thank you. he isn't in the scene in question but this is his drink its so important to me
viktor: virgin empress gin fizz made with lavender & juniper syrup, the syrup mimics the colour of empress gin (purple) because of his thing with shimmer. i also feel he wouldnt drink alcohol because he is probably on meds/doctor's instructions not to
jayce: gibson, aka a martini with vodka & dry vermouth & pickled mini onions skewered in the shape of a hammer mostly bcuz i feel like modern!jayce loves bond movies so i wanted martini-adjacent (also because he just strikes me as a pickled onion fan)
mel: caipirinha, made of cachaça, lime juice & sugar. specifically golden sugar on the rim of the glass. this is because mel is pretty and deserves a pretty drink, and i think it's fun that the golden sugar matches the colour of her magic in the show
caitlyn: perfect storm, which is grand marnier, lime, ginger beer, and bitters, chiefly because caitlyn in this fic is vi's perfect storm and because she carries a lot of bitterness about her past so a drink with bitters just made sense
#if heimerdinger was there he would be drinking a milk. thanks#caitvi#violyn#caitvi fic#caitlyn arcane#vi arcane#arcane headcanon#arcane#arcane fic#hazel.txt#king and lionheart

Summertime means Aviations, apparently!
2oz Empress Gin (you can use any gin, but if you want that color it needs to be a pea flower gin)
1/2oz Creme de Violet
1/2oz Luxardo
3/4oz lemon- about half a lemon
Those aren't standard proportions- usually it calls for less creme de violet but like. Any time a cocktail calls for 1/4oz of anything other than fernet branca I'm kind of like why even bother. And it's an Aviation. You're only making it because you have a bottle of creme de violet and you think a Water Lily is too sweet.
(Any time a cocktail calls for more than 1/4oz of fernet I am out the door. "The bartender's handshake" fuck right off, why don't I "bartender's handshake" my fist in your face.)
#i will do a shot of malort before i touch fernet#i have both in the liquor cabinet#alcohol#anyway it's good i made myself a drink because ahahahahaha *cries in azure outage affecting critical systems*#maybe i will do a shot of malort#my only consolation is that the entire state of california must be PISSED right now

something I need to make a point of doing while I’m not in pennsy for the time is scoping out beverage distributors for beers and liquors I can’t usually find.
if you don’t already know, pennsy has really bizarre liquor laws. it’s gotten better over time, but it’s still very restrictive. im never not going to quietly lose my mind when im out of the state and see Jack Daniels on sale at a cvs. and you eventually get tired of having to drive to new jersey to buy lillet blanc. or the rose version of empress gin so you can use it as a base for the dumb cocktail i like which is it, rose water, lemon juice, and club soda. I’m so fucking not beating the pretentious allegations.
I don’t know if the alcohol situation is significantly better here, but playing around with new cocktail concepts and old ones worth revisiting is probably an okay use of my time. provided I’ve gotten done with everything I need to in the day and all.
