If you haven't been in a production of Into the Woods, are you even alive? The Witch is a rich role rift with villainy, yet far from evil. She provides the backbone to the show's central messages on morality and motherhood. "Last Midnight" has the power to make or break the whole damn show.
The Witch's ultimate fate remains shrouded in ambiguity. The freedom for director interpretation has gifted us with such delightful variety. Bernadette Peters descends in a cloud of smoke on the stage elevator, Donna Murphy is dragged into the ground by a tree creature thing, Heather Headley is seized by a giant pair of puppet hands*, Carolee Carmello freefalls backwards still belting her face off. The possibilities are endless and fascinating. The script says "she disappears. Long pause." Discuss what you think happens and you would do in your production down in the notes.
*not Heather Headley in the clipped portion, but same production design.

Schmigadoon! Stage Musical Finds Its Cast for Upcoming World Premiere
Javier Muñoz, Ann Harada, Alex Brightman, and Isabelle McCalla are among the stage favorites bringing the musical TV series to the Kennedy Center stage.
By Logan Culwell-Block
November 18, 2024
Casting has been revealed for Kennedy Center's upcoming world premiere stage version of Apple TV's Schmigadoon!, set to take the Washington, D.C. theatre's Eisenhower Theater January 31-February 9, 2025. Ann Harada will reprise her performance as Florence Menlove, joined by newcomers Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice) as Josh Skinner, Sara Chase (The Great Gatsby) as Melissa Gimble, Kevin Del Aguila (Some Like It Hot) as Reverend Layton, McKenzie Kurtz (Wicked) as Betsy McDonough, Isabelle McCalla (Water for Elephants) as Emma Tate, Javier Muñoz (Hamilton) as Doc Lopez, Brad Oscar (Something Rotten!) as Mayor Menlove, Emily Skinner (Suffs) as Mildred Layton, and Ryan Vasquez (The Notebook) as Danny Bailey. Casting is by The Telsey Office. Christopher Gattelli, who choreographed both seasons of the series, will direct and choreograph the stage version, which will feature a book, music, and lyrics by series creator Cinco Paul. Press notes indicate audiences can expect songs from the series' Grammy-nominated score plus new tunes. David Chase is serving as music supervisor, with orchestrations by Doug Besterman and music direction by Steven Malone. The musical will follow the plot of the show's first season, which saw a couple, struggling to save their relationship, who suddenly find themselves in Schmigadoon, a magical world populated with characters, plots, songs, and dance numbers inspired by Golden Age musicals like Oklahoma!, The Music Man, and Carousel. The production is being presented by special arrangement with Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video, which produced the series. The series premiered on Apple TV+ in 2021, with a second season in 2023 that sent its characters to Schmicago, complete with parodies of '70s musicals like Pippin, Godspell, and Sweeney Todd. Read Playbill's exhaustive recaps of all first and second season episodes for a deep dive into the series' many musical theatre Easter eggs, references, and parodies. The upcoming production will also include scenic design by Scott Pask, lighting design by Jen Schriever, and sound design by Haley Parcher. Tickets are available at Kennedy-Center.org.

Ok so hot-take time:
Why whenever an actress has red hair, does her sexy level get boosted? like she could be drop-dead gorgeous and like prime sex-on-legs material but make her a redhead and there we have it ladies, gentlemen and gentlefolk, MILFs. *Cigarettes are a bonus sexy (don’t ask)
Don’t believe me? I have evidence:
Exhibit A) Bernadette Peters
Blonde:
Tumblr media
She looks cute and innocent and poofy
Redhead:
Tumblr media
I mean... milf material right here
Exhibit B) Emily Skinner
Blonde:
Tumblr media
I mean we’re already sexy as hell so I don’t know how we could get better-
Redhead:
Tumblr media
I was wrong, I got better
Exhibit C) Kate Baldwin
I can’t find her in anything without her being a redhead and she’s sexy in every role so that must mean something
Redhead
Tumblr media
Can-Can Kate is literally the sluttiest Kate and I’m here for it. She needs to play more sluts
Exhibit D) SJB
Brunette:
Tumblr media
She makes me feel my gayness
Redhead:
Tumblr media
MILF MILF MILF MILF help me gay panic
and finally...
Exhibit E) Carolee Carmello
Blonde:
Tumblr media
Sure, she’s sexy here but wait, there’s more
Redhead:
Tumblr media
We have red hair, we have a suggestive pose we have a long cigarette what more could a confused gal want?
And thus my friends, my point is proven. Being a redhead makes sexy actresses into MILFs, thank you and goodnight.
You can have a complimentary redhead Ruthie Henshall for the sake of it,

Broadway Divas Tournament: Round 1B
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Suffs opens previews later this month, Emily Skinner (1970) will have ten Broadway shows to her name. Best known (and Tony-nominated) for being attached to Alice Ripley's hip in Side Show (1997), Emily isn't afraid to take bit parts that squander her talents (looking at you, New York, New York (2022)). She made her Broadway debut in Jekyll & Hyde where, during previews, she had her own Singin' in the Rain moment when she provided the vocals for star Linda Eder during her bout of laryngitis.
Another ten-show Diva, Judy Kuhn (1958) is a four-time Tony nominee for tumblr-favorites such as Les Miserables (1987), Chess (1988), She Loves Me (1994), and most recently Fun Home (2015). Booked and busy, she has featured in two Classic Stage Company off-Broadway shows since 2021, and will appear in the Encores! Titanic concert this June. She is the singing voice for Disney's Pocahontas.
PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
"Emily Skinner's cabaret act is entitled "A Broad with a Broad Mind" and it's accurate as all hell. She has that bold and brassy voice that's a rare commodity in today's Broadway's climate, and I, for one, want to see more of her in larger roles. New York, New York was a travesty all around, but specifically for how it didn't allow her to do much of anything, much less show off her vocal talents."

"submitting some hopefully not-as-obvious judy kuhn propaganda <3 singing "nobody's side" in 2018 (!!!!) her "meadowlark," an all-timer an astonishing live performance of "colors of the wind" she is literally ill and sounds like this!!!" - Submitted by @phyllisrogersstan
