i need an individual headcanon thing for my babies but uh emily;

read more cus this turned into a long one 

fdgjdfkjs Her. so i’ve been writing her for 11 years now, since i was 14. so she’s very special to me. noting i do write her as very high chaos. with some alternate endings to the game. i also don’t use DH2 as a source of inspiration since i don’t care for the second game. honestly it’s my fault for pouring everything i had into her and then her turning out different LMAO so my adult emily is also different from DH2 emily, even design wise. 

sooo headcanons below for my dearest, again i don’t take anything from the second game into account, if there’s similarities then great minds think alike ig

emily has frequent contact with the outsider. and is considerably closer to him than what’s shown in the game. he stops her nightmares by transporting her into the void when she sleeps, she’s become very accustomed to the void, and views the outsider as a friend. although she would never say it, she’s still kind of a brat.

she becomes an heir to the void, of sorts. offered by the outsider. he is the void, the end and beginning of all things. his body is simply a vessel. and if he were to die, the void would consume everything. therein comes emily as the new vessel should she suffer the same fate as him. 

emily has the plague, but is asymptomatic. 

this was briefly mentioned in the game, but i kinda took it and ran with it. emily can talk to rats, they whisper to her, tell her the secrets within the walls. warning her of any decenters. she has a very special rat friend named Scruffy, he’s usually seen on her shoulder and she speaks to him frequently.

whether she is marked by the outsider is on a case by case basis. which verse i feel like writing. 

she’s extremely intuitive, this is of course something that was needed due to her circumstances, she’s very good at reading people, sometimes to the point that it seems supernatural, surreal. 

she bears a certain resentment towards her mother, not hatred, nothing so concrete. it’s betrayal, anger, knowing that she was powerless to do anything about it. she’s angry at the world and at everyone around her.

if we’re going full on high chaos, i always had this idea that she has corvo track down the guards that were supposed to be on duty when the assassination occurred, and has them killed. 

emily has makeshift gravesites for the Loyalists in the Hounds Pits Pub, she had corvo find the bodies to bury, but when he came to gather them, they were already eaten by rats. corvo brought other corpses wrapped in cloth, but emily knew. however she said nothing.

DH fan!Timeline

Considering that we are not given every single specification about the whole Dishonored timeline, it's even untold at certain points. So, it leaves quite a bit of room for speculation.

Corvo arrives at Gristol with slight caution and uneasy feeling. He is in a foreign land. He has no connection to it.

Jess is aware that she soon has to choose her Lord Protector, but has no idea about who she may choose. Many guards that surround her are either power hungry bastards, unprofessional privileged baby boys that can't even hold the dagger properly, or straight up idiots who don't have enough brains for even the easiest of tasks. Princess doesn't trust any of them.

She almost immediately takes a liking to Corvo. He's shy, suspicious, but also extremely proficient with weapons. Alert, strong and non-talkative. Jess starts to speak to him a lot more, making sure that Corvo isn't bothered by the guards Jessamine despises so much. It helps Corvo in his new position. Especially after he gets news of his mothers' passing.

Jess is the first girl to be so close since his sister. He felt betrayed by Beatrici, but found comfort in yer another joyful dreaming teenager.

They slowly grow closer. Jess calls Corvo her Lord Protector even before he is officially appointed. He tries to find an actual fitting gristolian, but has no time left after a sudden tragedy.

Jessamine's mother, Beatrix dies, leaving the princess devastated. The queen dies along with her baby brother, a possible heir to the throne. Euhorn never really gets close with his daughter again, because they both know who was responsible for Beatrix's death.

Jessamine is named as the heir to the throne. Euhorn accepts Corvo as her Lord Protector, because he is very fond with him and Theodanis Abele, who introduced young Corvo to the emperor.

Jess and Corvo were, basically, best friends for a few years. Jess liked playing with him, especially when they started their rounds in chess. They discussed many topics, read books, eventually even dressed together. Jessamine liked to make her father laugh, dressing up as her Lord Protector. Eventually, Corvo stated to playfully argue with the princess. They would lighty hit each other, yell and almost die laughing afterwards. After his wife's death, Euhorn wasn't really as happy as he used to be, but he could not be more satisfied with Jessamine's smile that Corvo gave her.

After Euhorn's death in 1825, Jess didn't really grieve much, but she was a bit shaken. Corvo was there for her. They finally bond fully when Jess turn 18. They fully kick off their secret romance, even going as far as sneaking into the city, enjoying festivals, drinks and dances. After a few years of subtle love, they go full manic, feeling almost drunk from the gained freedom.

When Jess found out about her pregnancy, both of them settled down with their crazy activities for the time. Corvo cares about his pregnant empress as much as she can.

Jess is not quite herself. Actually, she basically goes full hormone mode, being as cranky as ever. Corvo is one of the few people who she tolerates. She throws plates, glasses, even gives one of the guards a concussion with a bottle of wine yeeted at him.

The birth is difficult. Corvo is as nervous as ever. He's afraid that he might loose the love of his life, just like Jess lost her mother to childbirth. After a few hours of this torcher, he bursts into the room. Jessamine lays in the pool of her own blood. Much people can't oppose him, although midwives do complains about empress' privacy.

He turns out to be a crucial participant. Having no knowledge over the topic, Corvo still felt like he had to try, having no other choice. Lord protector uses the only way he saw logical: turning the baby around from the outside, grabbing the breach child. Many held their breaths, until the heir announces it's presence as a loud cry in Corvo's hands.

Emily Drexel Lela Kaldwin is born on the 2nd Day, Month of Rain. She is covered in blood, gasping for air and thrashing around. Midwives take care of the baby, when their colleagues change the sheets, put away the towels and help to bathe and change Jessamine.

Jess is not, in any way, a skilled mother. Beatrix didn't teach her daughter about the aspects of motherhood, but Jess learns quickly. She gives Emily her first drink while she calls Corvo over. She quickly hushes the midwives, letting Corvo touch his daughter for the first time. He panics more than Jess does during her labor, but still excepts, holding Emily in his arms.

Corvo loves to carry Emily around when she's a baby. She clings to him and cries almost every time someone tries to take her from his arms. Jess thinks it's really cute.

Attano takes the responsibility as a parent, although not officially. He feeds Emily from the spoon and dresses her up for several occations. He also protects her even more than Jessamine, which makes her a bit jealous, but really proud and sure in her daughter's bright future.

Emily is an energetic and mischievous child. Corvo feels his grey hairs coming in early after some of her stunts. She also likes dressing up in boy clothes and Corvo isn't stopping her. He doesn't want to really. Sometimes Emily paints her father's face with her crayons.

She asks about her father, but Corvo keeps in a secret before she turns 7. Emily turns out to be a really good secret keeper, calling Corvo by his name even after knowing the fact. Even if she's a very talkative girl.

That is pretty much everything i have for my version of canon events before the first game. Hope you enjoyed!

there are exactly 3 instances when emily doesn't look put together : when she's with the kid, when she just got out of a stressful fight, or when she's very alone with liselotte. it is absolutely no wonder when hanging out with the little boy is one of those instances, when the small five year old is on emily's shoulders, almost sideways, his arms just wrapped indelicately around her head. she opens her mouth to say something, but he answers first. it's just with a little giggle.

" emily brought me fishing, " he just continues after the giggle. patting the top of emily's head for emphasis. " she said her and grandpa used to do it allllll the time. " and then he squirms just the slightest, so she shifts to pulling him off her shoulders and setting him down. in which he instantly goes for liselotte's hand. emily just smiles.

Hm... So, she's an empress...? Is it tradition to stand on ceremony, or... Oh, goodness, what IS the time?! Without further delay, it appears that Empress Emily Drexel Lela Kaldwin I could catch Kira and survive - quite handily, at that! There's been quite a lot of talk about "publicity" and "celebrity" and all that, but I suppose, with a properly stealthy or crafty investigator, that doesn't matter a whit, does it? Well, not matter. At long last, shall we?

Voidtober, Part 4

Theme: Empress.

Characters: Corvo, Emily, Anton Sokolov, background characters.

Emily feels that she is as ready as she can possibly be. After he mothers death so many things trigger, so much happen, that she completely forgets about the main purpose of saving her. Main reason why her father even put himself through all this.

She is an heir to the throne. A lightfull empress of the Isles. Bearer of the crown. She had a duty to her subjects simply because of the place and family she was born into.

Emily braces herself as she puts on her last ring, wiggling it into place.

— You seem nervous, your majesty,

— I am, mister Anton. What if i will not live to their expectations? What kind of an empress will i be? A good, a bad one? How can i be sure?

— That's the interesting part in all of his, princess, — Anton goes closer and puts another ring on Emily's finger. It seems different from all others. — It's good to be curious about the future. It's always intriguing to live, to find out what will happen in the next few months, years, decades even.

Emily looks at Anton, with a bit more of a relaxed look.

— You're right. What about the ring tho?

— I made a speical lock to the treasure chamber for you and lord Corvo. You can now access it with this key, putting it inside and turning it ninety degrees. It'll help keep all the thieves away from your prised possessions. There is no other way in.

— You always manage to surprise me, mister Anton.

— That's very kind of you to say, your majesty. Now, you shoud go. Coronation shall start soon. Lord Corvo probably awaits you near the throne.

Emily takes a last look at herself in the mirror before finally going through the long corridor. She sees two guards on the opposite end, waiting for her. They open the doors as soon as she steps closer. She hears the croud, until Emily steps into the light behind the throne. Viewers go silent, as she approaches the fancy chair, standing next to it. She looks up at Corvo and smiles. She smiles back, turning to her subjects.

— Royal ladies and gentleman, — one of the representatives of the abbey hands Emily two symbols of the royal lineage, smiling at her. — Today, we gather here for an unexpected coronation. Her majesty, lady Jessamine, did not serve our realm for long. But lets hope, that with her guidance from the other side, and the help of the parliament, together with her royal lord protector, our new empress shall learn and rule over us with wisdom and grace.

He turns to the side, excepting the crown from a red pillow that his assistant holds.

— Let us wish prosperity for the rein of the new empress, — representative of the abbey puts the crown on Emily's head, stepping back and bowing. — All hail her imperial majesty, Emily Drexel Lela Kaldwin, the first of her name!

Emily turns to the audience, putting down the two symbols and crossing her hands near her waist. Lords and ladies bow as well. Emily feels the weight of the crown. But it is probably nothing compared to the weight of responsibly for her subjects, that she excepts with dignity and proudly raised head.
