so @emhahee made a post about Kevin can f**k himself and I binged it in two days and I just have one thing to say (because this is Permeating my brain).

there is something So Poetic about the sitcom facade being kept up UNTIL Allison says "I want a divorce"

and then when he realizes he has no one he goes out in a "blaze of glory" while everyone looks on in horror as he burns the house down with him in it.

there is something to be said about his last phone call was to Neil but honestly thank god he had an entire life outside of Kevin. and again there is something SO POETIC that it took a hit in the head from his sister to wake him up to how evil Kevin is

also I love that Allison had a good life outside of Kevin, but she needed the closure of getting to tell him to his face

i cannot get this out of my head, so have a wholesome hurt/comfort moment tonight >>>

bucky’s been reconnecting with his family, and one of his college-age nieces has been having a rough time with her mental health so he sends her pictures of steve looking dumb and she sends him tiktoks and sometimes he shares a piece or two of his own healing with her.

so one day she sends him a tiktok and the accompanying text is “dont say a word old man”. and the video is Emhahee’s song “I Am”. and it takes bucky out at the knees.

steve comes back from working out to find bucky sitting at the edge of the couch, wiping his eyes. he plops down next to him, groaning at his sore muscles. bucky huffs a laugh and leans back, relaxing into steve’s arm across his shoulders. steve kisses bucky’s head, bucky pinches steve’s thigh. and bucky picks up his phone and plays the song for steve, and by the end of it theyre both teary eyed. steve kisses bucky’s head again and leaves his mouth pressed against his soft hair.

I am a person and for that I’m glad / I have plenty of good in me along with the bad / I’m not in trouble and nobody’s mad / I just am, I just am, I just am

so a few days later, steve looks up the song again. he liked the singer’s simple style - sometimes music gets overwhelming as his brain naturally tracks every instrument and harmony and inhale and - yeah sometimes just a voice and a ukelele is better. for steve’s brain.

and her song “Rich Man” makes him smile as he washes his face. he listens to it a few times and sends it to bucky. but as he hears bucky come in the front door, as steve pulls out one of bucky’s tshirts to inevitably stretch out with his shoulders over the course of the day - the song switches to her song “My Silly Body”.

and steve can make out bucky setting down a cardboard tray with coffees, a paper bag, his keys - it takes a bit of juggling with only one arm - and steve can smell bucky’s deodorant and their laundry detergent and he can feel his steady heart pick up and steve just. sits on the bed. and starts crying.

bucky comes in pretty quick after that, but he can also hear the song playing quietly from steve’s phone. and in an echo of last time, stands in front of steve and pulls him to put his face against bucky’s stomach. runs his fingers through steve’s damp hair. and lets his big guy cry.
