I spent about five years with a two-minute commute to work at a rural school which meant I commuted 55 miles to the nearest grocery store. Then I moved and had that same 55 miles to drive to school (and then 55 miles back)…literally uphill both ways in blizzards because North Dakota Winter.

Haven't seen their family in 3 years because they live a 45 min drive away and that's just too much to do.

And the people who live in, say, Montana, the U. S. state which is both forth largest in size and fourth smallest in population will just…walk? to school because public transport doesn’t exist in every town? When it’s -40 F?

Hmm yes we should abolish private car ownership and be dependent on bus lines that will need to stop every block and jam as many people as possible onto each bus at every possible interval so your 30 minute car ride to work must be planned 1 hour in advance while a homeless man pisses on you for not giving him $20 for some cigs and a beer and another person to your left will reek as if soap and running water simply do not exist

(Celebrities and politicians are allowed private transport for their safety of course)
