do you think bughuul would be pissed if ellison and reader used it to make a different kind of film 😏 the only thing he’s murdering is this pus—
OMG 😂😂 I laughed so hard at this
I can only imagine Bughuul watching the film thinking he's gonna steal another soul or whatever and instead he just sees filthy raunchy sex. Body parts strategically and lewdly zoomed in on and dirty words muttered from behind the camera.
Totally see him clutching his pearls and being just generally mortified as much as he can be.
Killing and dismemberment is A-OK, but sex? He's blushing

Then I Saw Her (Ellison Oswalt x Reader) PART TWO
Part One
word count: 1,429
warnings: takes place after the events of the movie, smoking, talks about death and condoms, ends with a cliffhanger
Tumblr media
It finally happened again. I saw the girl from the bookstore in Seattle again. Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that we saw each other again. Even after I survived that dreaded and frankly fucking terrible house. They made me sign a book deal and, as you might have guessed, another dreaded book tour. This time, at least,  they gave me a paper cup filled with bitter and sad coffee. Which, for Seattle, feels disappointing. The only thing worth noting about the whole day other than seeing her again was the number of people that showed up. People of different backgrounds came to me and asked to sign my shitty book about my trauma. And by all different backgrounds, I mean primarily white women and their bored-looking husbands. When she finally trekked up to me, her eyes seemed to light up the minute we locked eyes.
"Well, we will meet again." She said, placing the book on the table.
I opened the book for me to sign. Before my pen hit the paper, I noticed the title didn’t match the one I was there to advertise. It was Kentucky Blood, the first book.
"Yeah, and you’re making me sign the wrong book," I said, trying to lighten the mood.
She laughs, her sweet laugh, and takes the book back, placing it into her navy blue crossbody tote bag. Her hair looked so perfect as she dug around for the other book. My eyes slowly passed along her figure, and the line behind me was slowly getting smaller and smaller as people started to walk out the door and into the busy Seattle streets. Maybe people didn’t come to see me. I didn’t seem to mind, looking back.
"Here’s the right one, sorry." She places the right book on the table, sliding it to me.
"It's alright, sweetheart, no need to worry."
Under the yellow light, I could see the embarrassment on her face as I took out my Sharpie. I wanted so badly to ask her who she really was. Is she a morning person or a night person? What’s her favorite movie?
"So, um," she begins, "this is probably unprofessional, but I was wondering if you wanted to get coffee sometime?"
The minute I heard her say that, it felt like my heart would explode.
"Yes, I’ll be free in about an hour. Can we meet outside this bookstore?"
She looks to the floor, shy. "Yeah, I have something I need to do, but yeah. I’ll meet you here."
A part of me wasn’t surprised that she had a life outside of me, but I wondered what was so important. Maybe she wanted to go home and grab condoms- stop it!
This girl has been admiring me for god knows how long, and here I am, thinking impurely of her. She probably just needs to get something from the store or maybe her car, totally pure and wholesome, nothing more or less. I may know her name, but that doesn’t mean my mind can wander. I carefully watched her as she winked at me and walked out the door. She would be on my mind for the rest of the day.
___…___
Finally, the day was coming to a close. I stood outside the bookstore, patiently waiting for her to come back. I wanted to apologize to her if I seemed awkward or mean earlier. I didn’t want to offend her. A pack of Marlboro Red sat in my cardigan’s pocket. Suddenly, my mind thought of my now-dead wife. I missed her, sure, but at the same time, I didn’t care. I was about to meet a beautiful girl I’d only known briefly. Her hair felt perfect on her head, and her clothes fit perfectly. It’s what she would’ve wanted. She would’ve wanted me to move on, move to New York, continue my writing, and find a beautiful girl to see often. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a dark brown car pull up to me. The window rolls down, revealing her in a different, more put-together outfit. This Charming Man by The Smiths played softly in her car, hitting the doors.
"Hey partner, (Y/N), we met earlier," she said, her voice bubbly.
I was so starstruck, and I hate using that term. Star. Struck.
"Hey," I said. My voice was breathy. Like my words left my mouth with a struggle. "It's Ellison."
She flashes me a smile. "You wanna hop in and take a trip around? Don’t worry. I wasn’t planning on kidnapping you. I’m not a murderer or anything."
I shake my head. "Don’t worry, darling. I wasn’t thinking that. But yeah, let’s do some sightseeing."
She unlocked her car and gave me the motion to hop on it. I do, seating myself in the back. I knew if I sat up there with her, I wouldn’t be able to speak. It felt like that movie… I can’t remember the title, but you know the one. She looks at me in the rear view mirror and gives me a disapproving look. My eyebrows furrowed together, wondering what was wrong.
"Why are you back there? You should be up here with me." (Y/N) said, her eyes turning back to the road, still not starting the car.
"Well, I don’t know. I think I would explode if I looked at you too long."
She giggles, "Come on, I’m not hurting you with my charming good looks. Relax, you’re safe with me."
Relax, you’re safe with me.
When she said that, my heart stopped. It was so flirty and different. Before I could even blink again. I closed the door and sat next to her.
"See? That wasn’t so bad, was it?"
I shake my head ‘ no,’ I feel too afraid to speak. I’ll say something stupid and then walk to my hotel alone. God, this girl is so fucking amazing.
"So, where to go first?" she said, looking over to my lap.
"Anywhere." I plainly said.
"Alright, I know just the place."
She finally started up the car and pulled away from the bookstore where I sat for hours, hearing the same few words said about my book or me. She passed a few small businesses and street performers before coming to a dirty-looking club. It seemed like a popular place to hang out during the day and into the later hours, judging by the long line waiting to get inside. (Y/N) parked the car and looked at me.
"Are you ready?" she said as she unlocked the doors.
I was scared shitless. Going inside seemed like an okay idea… if I wanted to get stabbed.
It was reckless.
My car door swung open, and she grabbed my sweater’s sleeve, dragging me out of the car's warmth. The writing on the wall outside grew enormous as we walked inside. This was it. I was going to die. I am a grown man now getting stared at by a colorful crowd of bikers and women who stared daggers at me. She continues to drag me all the way up to the bar. I look up at the menu. All the drinks are named after obscure Broadway shows or terrible movies. The lights feel like they are going to burn my irises. My eyes lower, looking at the bar itself. She yells for the bartender and looks over at me. She can tell I’m uncomfortable, but I highly doubt she even cares.
"So, what’s the name of this place? It's very…interesting." I asked politely.
"Anywhere." She yells, despite the music not being that loud.
"The place is called ‘Anywhere?’" I asked again. Was she being serious or lying to my face?
She nods her head, seemingly pleased by her reply.
Maybe this was a bad idea. I knew that her taking me here had half a chance of being the best night of my life. All those hopes slip right out of my hand as I look at her again, now chatting with a younger man at the bar. It felt like I wasn’t even there, like a ghost trapped in the empty halls where the ghost’s life had ended. People slowly get up and leave, still looking at me. I want to be angry, wondering when she’ll let me go. Her eyes lean back to me, the younger lad still talking.
I imagine what the stars look like outside. They sparkle, sure, but the actual stars were few and far between.
Maybe I was one of those stars.
Bright, and yet, very few like me.

@popularmxnster || a meme from here! || accepting!
I’m not drunk enough to know if this is good-weird or bad-weird. But I’ll get there though. (From adult!Billy to Ellison Oswalt)
glasses are pulled from the bridge of his nose and sat down on the counter. a hitch of laughter comes rattling from wool covered shoulders. "yeah. i know. who would've thought? you and me being the last two sorry souls at the end of the night in a hole in the wall like this?" ellision's nose ticked up towards the rest of the dark bar. there was no one around. hasn't been in nearly a half an hour or more. it's why he comes to places like this. though this is the first time he's stayed for much longer than a few minutes in this dive bar. no one really knows who he is. or cares. they look him over and carry on about their business.
which is why he figures someone like billy loomis might frequent a spot like this, too. ellison would be lying if he said he didn't know that already. if he hadn't been semi-lurking here off and on hoping to run into the man who is conveniently sitting near him now. it was more of a longshot. a roll of the dice to see if it'd happen. he wasn't honing in on the idea. since he barely knew what he'd do with the chance once he got it. but his wiring's always been like this. always been drawn towards what's landed him in more than a few domestic situations where he's been told by tracy that she needs a break. from him. from this world. from the nightmares he ends up circling around and inviting into his mind, his bedtime, his dreams. so, now, alone. he's here. in this town.
knee deep in bad habits.
Tumblr media
"storm's coming by the looks of it. everyone bailed out to avoid it. gotta admit one thing. this place isn't much. but it does have a great few if the shit hits the fan out there." does billy know him? cause he wouldn't blame him if he didn't. "that is if they don't throw us out. what are you drinking?" a spare glance towards the bartender beckons him over. this one's on him.

you think there'd be some quiet sneaking out to the park to grab some lunch. but? as it would be? that's not the case. seems he gathered some interest from the woman perched a little higher than him. she happened to notice a few of the crime scene photos scattered beside him on the bench and stopped to peer over his shoulder like some curious parrot wondering what he was working on. by now? his laptop's been set aside. covering most of the macabre scenery with the bulk of it and he swallows the bite before looking over his shoulder and lifting a brow. a silent what to her question. he's seen and written about worse. takes more than that to make him blanch over his italian sub.
"have a lot of practice getting blood out of clothes? maybe it's you i should be interviewing.. instead of fighting with a warden on staten island all day. y'know they're thinking of tearing that place down? don't know what they're gonna do with everyone left inside it. no one else wants them.." for good reason, too.
— 「 RE: @esoterium .

❝ YOU KNOW IT IS EXCEPTIONALLY easy to get blood out of clothes? ❞ was this the best chatter while he was wolfing down a sandwich? probably not, but the white-haired woman didn't really CARE. her fingers were tapping on her fishnet covered knees as she perched next to him, a bit HIGHER, on the ledge. ❝ i can do a lot with just a little bit of time. ❞

(Part 1) Film & TV Recommendations for Halloween
1. Over the Garden Wall (Miniseries, 2014)
Tumblr media
Over the Garden Wall features two half-brothers, Wirt and Gregory, who have become lost in a mysterious wood called The Unknown and attempt to find their way back home.
...
This beautifully crafted animated miniseries is the best thing to come out of Cartoon Network even after ten years. The unique atmosphere, which blends fairytale charm with Gothic eeriness, perfectly compliments the early 20th-century Americana-styled animation. At just ten episodes, Over the Garden Wall is a short but impactful experience that lingers with you long after it ends. I highly recommend this series.
2. Coraline (Film, 2009)
Tumblr media
Wandering her rambling old house in her boring new town, an 11-year-old Coraline discovers a hidden door to a strangely idealized version of her life.
...
This stop-motion animated film is a deeply unsettling and visually stunning experience. Blending a dark fairytale narrative with otherworldly imagery, it presents itself as a psychological horror for young and older audiences alike. Coraline explores the complex ideas about family, identity, and the dangers of wish fulfillment with grace. I strongly recommend this film.
3. ParaNorman (Film, 2012)
Tumblr media
Norman Babcock, a young boy who can communicate with ghosts, is given the task of ending a 300-year-old witch's curse on his Massachusetts town.
...
This heartfelt stop-motion animated film blends humor, horror, and themes of ostracization and acceptance. While blending classic horror movie tropes with a coming-of-age story, it manages to portray strong themes of prejudice by using zombies, witches, and ghoulish imagery. If you're looking for a unique spin on classic B-movie horror, I highly recommend this film.
4. Happy Death Day (Film, 2017)
Tumblr media
A college student must relive the day of her murder over and over again in a loop that will end only when she discovers her killer's identity.
...
Happy Death Day is an entertaining mashup of slasher horror and Groundhog Day-style time loop storytelling. This film stands out from all the rest of the horror-comedy franchise due to its emotion, mystery, and character growth. While it doesn't push boundaries for horror, it makes up for its uniqueness that balances humor and suspense. If you're looking for a horror-comedy film, I strongly recommend this one.
5. Jennifer's Body (Film, 2009)
Tumblr media
A newly-possessed high-school cheerleader turns into a succubus who kills her male classmates and devours their flesh in order to survive.
...
Though it was sorely misunderstood when it originally came out, it has recently garnered rightful attention for its subversive take on the horror-comedy genre. This film blends teen drama and supernatural horror and uses its genre to touch upon the objectification of women in horror and in reality. Its wit, self-awareness, and social commentary have made it a standout in the horror-comedy genre, and for that, I strongly recommend this film.
6. Sinister: Recut (Film, 2012)
Tumblr media
Ellison Oswalt is a struggling true-crime writer whose discovery of snuff films depicting gruesome murders and strange supernatural elements in his new house puts his family in danger.
...
Said to be one of the scariest films ever from a research study, Sinister is a deeply unsettling horror movie that perfectly mixes supernatural elements with psychological tension. The haunting score combined with the grainy, nightmarish footage of the murders results in an unnerving experience that sits with you long after you turn the lights out. Instead of watching the original movie, I strongly recommend this fanedit version of the film. It elevates the movie by removing some of the cheesy jumpscares and awkward dialog. If you're looking for a genuinely haunting movie this Halloween, I recommend this one.
7. 1408 (Film, 2007)
Tumblr media
Author Michael Enslin, who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences, checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel in New York City.
...
This film excels in building suspense, using minimal special effects, and relying on our main characters' isolation and psychological unraveling to create fear. While this movie isn't as overtly terrifying as other horror films, 1408 offers an eerie, slow-burn experience, blending supernatural elements with personal trauma. The film has two different endings, the theatrical version and the director's cut. I'd suggest watching both to come to the conclusion of your favorite. It's a must-watch for fans of psychological horror, and I strongly recommend this film.
8. Midsommar (Film, 2019)
Tumblr media
A couple travels to Northern Europe to visit a rural hometown's fabled Swedish mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
...
This is a visually stunning and disturbing horror film set against the backdrop of a bright, idyllic Swedish village. The movie stands out for its unique approach to horror, unfolding almost entirely in daylight, creating a sense of unease through its striking visuals, unnerving atmosphere, and slow-building dread. Midsommar is a polarizing piece of media, mixing folk horror with psychological drama, and is filled with symbolism and unsettling imagery. I highly recommend this film if you're looking to be disturbed this Halloween.
9. Skinamarink (Film, 2022)
Tumblr media
A young brother and sister wake up during the night to discover that their father is missing and that the windows, doors, and other objects in their house have vanished.
...
Skinamarink is an experimental analog horror film that trades traditional narrative for a surreal, nightmarish atmosphere. Shot in grainy, low-light cinematography, the film immerses you in a disorienting and eerie world where fear of the unknown takes center stage. The film’s strength lies in its ability to evoke childhood fears, using abstract visuals and unsettling sound design to create a sense of dread. However, its unconventional approach may alienate some people who expect a clear plot or resolution. The minimal dialogue and deliberate pacing make Skinamarink more of a mood piece than a traditional horror film, relying on atmosphere over jump scares. For those willing to embrace its experimental nature, Skinamarink offers a haunting and disquieting experience that lingers long after it ends, tapping into primal fears of isolation and helplessness. For all these reasons, I highly recommend that you check out this film.
10. Heck (Short Film, 2020)
Tumblr media
A child wakes up in the middle of the night to the sound of his mom's television blaring.
...
Heck is a short film that shares a similar atmospheric approach to the creator's feature-length film Skinamarink. Like Skinamarink, it explores the feeling of being trapped in a surreal, dreamlike space. The film's minimalist aesthetic, with grainy visuals and a haunting soundscape, creates a disorienting atmosphere that leaves much to the imagination. It builds tension through its slow pacing, relying on the viewer's discomfort with the unknown rather than traditional horror tropes. For people who thought Skinamarink's runtime was excessive, Heck is a great substitute that captures the same atmosphere of the former. I highly recommend this film to people who have enjoyed Skinamarink's take on horror.

Rules, Guidelines, etc.:
[Used to be: ronaldrx]
I'm a hobby writer and mostly write (x Reader) FanFictions and Headcanons. But I am also working on my original story whenever I can, so that I’ll hopefully publish it as an actual book someday. My Ao3.
Here’s a link to my Ko-Fi, in case you want to support me financially. It would mean a lot to me! (Obviously no obligation whatsoever! You never have to pay for anything on my blog, it’s merely an option for donations.)
Also, here are my sideblogs if you’re interested:
Dead Poets Society
Horror
Raúl Esparza
The Simpsons
Only ask for the characters I’ve got listed, please. Sinister (2012)
If you're a fan of horror movies that keep you on the edge of your seat, then Sinister (2012) is a must-watch! Directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Ethan Hawke, this supernatural horror film delivers chills and thrills in every scene.
The story follows true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) as he moves his family into a new home to work on his latest book. Little does he know, the house has a dark past. Ellison discovers a box of home movies in the attic, which reveal the gruesome murders of the previous occupants. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers the presence of a malevolent entity known as Bagul, who preys on children and their families.
Why You Should Watch
-Ethan Hawke's Performance: Hawke delivers a compelling performance as a desperate writer who becomes increasingly obsessed with the sinister events unfolding around him.
- Atmospheric Tension: The film masterfully builds tension through its eerie soundtrack, unsettling visuals, and suspenseful pacing.
-Unique Storytelling: The use of found footage adds a layer of realism and horror, making the viewer feel like they're uncovering the mystery alongside Ellison.

BLOG ENTRY N0.3
The Unsettling Allure of "Sinister"
Tumblr media
"Sinister," directed by Scott Derrickson and released in 2012, is a chilling entry in the horror genre that delves deep into the realms of fear and suspense. With its haunting atmosphere, gripping narrative, and spine-tingling scares, "Sinister" stands out as a modern horror classic. The film's ability to unsettle and disturb viewers makes it a must-watch for horror aficionados and a compelling study in the mechanics of terror.
Tumblr media
Plot Overview
The story follows true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke), who moves into a new home with his family to work on his next book. Unbeknownst to his wife Tracy (Juliet Rylance) and their children, the house has a dark history: it was the scene of a gruesome family murder. Ellison discovers a box of home movies in the attic, which contain footage of multiple families being murdered in various brutal ways.
As Ellison delves deeper into these disturbing films, he uncovers a connection between the murders and a pagan deity named Bughuul, also known as the "Eater of Children." The more Ellison investigates, the more he realizes that his own family is in grave danger, ensnared in the sinister legacy of the house.
Tumblr media
Characters and Performances
Ethan Hawke delivers a compelling performance as Ellison Oswalt, capturing the character’s descent from ambitious writer to paranoid, desperate father. Hawke’s portrayal is both nuanced and intense, grounding the supernatural elements in a very human fear. Juliet Rylance’s portrayal of Tracy provides a counterbalance, embodying the emotional and rational side of the family dynamic.
The supporting cast, including James Ransone as the helpful but skeptical Deputy So-and-So, adds depth and authenticity to the film. The child actors, especially those portraying the ghostly victims, deliver chilling performances that enhance the eerie atmosphere.
Tumblr media
Visuals and Special Effects
"Sinister" excels in creating a visually disturbing experience. The use of Super 8 footage to depict the murders is particularly effective, lending a grainy, realistic quality that amplifies the horror. The juxtaposition of these home movies with the present-day narrative creates a sense of timeless dread, as if the evil in the house transcends eras.
The film’s lighting and cinematography contribute to its unsettling ambiance. Shadows and dimly lit spaces dominate the visual palette, creating a sense of claustrophobia and unease. The practical effects and minimal use of CGI ensure that the horror feels tangible and immediate.
Themes and Impact
At its core, "Sinister" explores themes of obsession, the consequences of unearthing dark secrets, and the corrupting influence of evil. Ellison's relentless pursuit of a story blinds him to the dangers he is exposing his family to, making a poignant statement about the cost of ambition and the lure of forbidden knowledge.
The film also delves into the idea of legacy and the cyclical nature of violence. The presence of Bughuul as an ancient entity manipulating modern families adds a layer of mythic horror, suggesting that some evils are eternal and inescapable.
"Sinister" has had a significant impact on the horror genre, praised for its innovative approach to found footage and its ability to evoke genuine fear. It has inspired discussions about the nature of horror and the psychological effects of true crime on those who immerse themselves in it.

Cinematography: 9/10
Acting: 9/10

why do i recommend this movie?
"Sinister" is a must watch horror film. This movie is the only horror film that I can never forget, and it became my favorite after I watched it in elementary school. The story and plot truly shocked me, which is why I still can't get over this movie.
Whether you’re a seasoned horror fan or new to the genre, this film promises a haunting experience that lingers long after the screen goes dark. So, turn off the lights, brace yourself, and dive into the unsettling world of "Sinister." The terror awaits!

ELLISON OSWALT OF SINISTER (2012), PLOT IDEAS :
ellison moves to the area to write about a recent unsolved crime. this plot can take many forms at several different points in his career. 01). the height of writing one of his hits like kentucky blood, 02). one of his riskier moves like depicted in the film, 03). or even his post-film survival verse where tracy petitions for divorce.
(FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL AND/OR JUSTICE SYSTEM, SUPES, PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS, OCCULT EXPERTS, ETC.) ellison is in their jurisdiction researching, writing about, & investigating a local true crime. these interactions will be heavily based on your characters opinion of what ellison does, his past works, & what he's doing in the area now. they can be a helping hand or an inconvenient roadblock. they might have their own hidden knowledge regarding the case or they may end up making discoveries along with him.
post - college!verse where ellison is just getting started in his career as a writer. he's not yet a novelist but has made a name for himself since his freshman year writing for the bennington lens. he built the crime coverage section from the ground up & solved a string of brutal attacks on students living in a dorm that had been targeted by a past student. following his graduation, he was hired by a well known paper in vermont to do basically the same thing.
(FOR SUPERNATURAL / PARANORMAL FOLKS, SUPES, ETC.) ellison has moved to the area & his investigations + research begin leading him in the direction of your character. whether or not they are directly involved with the crime or even aware of it could vary from plot to plot. regardless of any threats issued or explanations given, ellison has a bad habit of struggling to let go & would likely continue to keep tabs.
