While down in New Orleans, Theo and his wife decided to take Riley and Lilly to the aquarium and the zoo. They figured some family friendly activities would be a nice way to start out the trip. They also figured asking Elliot to join them and to bring Sawyer along. After gweting to the entrance of the aquarium, Theo texted Elliot to let him know they had just arrived. Just got here, we're by the front entrance outside, he sent as they milled about for a bit.

i think one of my only complaints about leverage redemption (SPOILERS), and it doesn't even take that much away from it, is that they never have the signature climax 'everything went wrong even in plan Q, the target thinks they've won - but then flashback to half the team completing plan Z.' instead they drop a very unsubtle dialogue at the beginning of the episode and we see the team apply it in real time. or similarly how they used to intertwine flashbacks when one of the characters mentioned something from their past.

i did consider halfway through that maybe its to show the absence of nate as the mastermind eg that he was able to think X steps ahead to use the teams skills to get around all obstacles ? but then again the whole wrap up of the original series is that parker / hardison / elliot can mastermind a team con together or individually, and sophie has masterminded team cons before as well.

again it doesn't take too much away, but it does have a significant change in the storytelling / narrative structure

part of the issue with cinderella 2021 is that they wanted ella to be the beginnings of a haute couture fashion designer and although the props & costumes supported that, the plot and dialogue made her come off as a lularoe consultant

listening to the long interlude in flying solo on the julie and the phantoms album made me realize, all the band needs to do is start playing instrumental songs quietly in the background while they have conversations with people other than julie. and so my mind immediately went to them playing 'tequila' quietly in the background of a semi serious convo and having to shout TEQUILA every now and again

Between Theo and Lynn and Riley, they had all been trying to learn some ASL, which thankfully Elliot was able to teach them. So being able to practice at home and then to now put that practice into play, Theo hoped it did it correctly. Of course it was only a single word, but he still felt proud of himself based upon the reaction by Elliot. Got it, he said with a thumbs up, though he was more than happy to type things out if need be. Plus Theo learned quickly not to mumble when speaking; whether that was back home by his parents, or at the fire academy by his superiors. It was also crucial to speak clearly especially during an emergency. True, you're right, probably not a good side gig. He nodded, giving Elliot a bright smile, as they were able to joke a bit about things like that. Though of course Theo would have liked to have Elliot around the firehouse more often. Oh sweet, and yeah, right now I've got plenty of time. Though the bells might go of at any time!

There was no stopping the way that Elliot beamed as Theo signed 'sorry'. Beyond grateful that he was learning any sign at all, Elliot would soak up any and all of it that he could. It's okay, no worries! Pretty sure I caught everything you said. Decent enough at lip reading to catch some of what was being said to him, often filling in the blanks when he didn't catch words here and there. But with having been around Theo so much, it was a bit easier for him to follow along. A snort of laughter falling from him at the pat on his back as his eyes skimmed over the phone. You know, I feel like there could be a lawsuit waiting to happen if I had a side gig of a firefighter. Feel like it might require a bit more hearing, which you know, I lack. He joked, shaking his head some with a laugh, giving a nod as his fingers moved over the phone once more. I do, Clem has Sawyer for the afternoon. As long as you have the time, I'm up for it.

Theo watched as his kids had joined in, trying to replicate the hand movements as well. Then looking back at Elliot who had given them an encouraging nod, Theo grinned. Raising both eyebrows after reading Elliot's phone regarding some of the signs and how they look like what they actually are, Theo pondered for a. moment. He figured that probably was the case, when ASL was first developed, making it easier for people to learn. That makes sense, has to make it easier to remember, right? He had typed out on his phone then showing it to Elliot. Though Theo knew only a small number of signs, he was always eager to learn more. Plus Riley had been learning from Elliot, which made it easier for everyone to learn, and practice. As they all moved onto the next tank, Theo stayed back for a moment, taking in how Elliot showed baby Sawyer the tanks and pointed everything out to her. He remembered doing that with his own kids, and for a moment Theo got a little sentimental. His kids weren't grown by any means, but they also were so young either anymore. Smiling to himself and shaking off any emotions, he then joined the group, turning to Elliot and giving him a big smile. That would be great, gives us all some real life experience, and plus it always is more fun to see the actual animals we are learning how to sign!

As Theo mimicked the hand motion that Elliot was showing all of them, he gave an encouraging nod of his head to let them know they were doing it right before flashing a thumbs up. There's quite a few signs like that, animals, some food even, that look like what it is. He explained a moment later, always feeling a it over excited when he got to show people ASL, got to teach them some of it as well. Even if they only ever learned a small bit, it still would mean the world to him. If there was one thing Elliot would never do, it was outright ask someone to learn sign for him but with Theo and the family wanting to learn, having sit down lessons with Riley from time to time, well, there would never be a way to express how much it meant to him. With a grin he moved over to the next tank, looking it in for a moment, holding Sawyer up close to let her have a look, laughing as he stuck her hand on the glass, eyes watching the fish swim around. Soaking up the moment with his daughter and family, this was the most important thing to him, time with those he cared so deeply about. I can keep showing you all signs for the other animals we see too if you want. Knowing they would most likely seeing more than just fish, and if they were willing and wanting to know more, Elliot would happily supply them with signs.
