Evolution of a Sketch: Liz Keen

Working on a new Keenler project. Happy with Liz. Ressler is next! The sketch will accompany a fic I’ve been working on since 8.02 😅 better late than never right?!

In truth, black and white doesn’t do Megan justice, but the above is as good as I can get her guileless expression. She is a modern day Mona Lisa fr!

Can’t wait to add the Ressler part of the sketch! It’s a canon divergent story so I have to choose a previous expression of his and modify it to fit the narrative. 😬 (Why do I do this to myself?!)

Opinion About Tom keen from The blacklist:

He is one of the best characters in the blacklist and is my crush. I am mad at the writers because they ended their story too early and I think their story had too much potential, just like the spin-off of the blacklist: redemption.

The things I liked about his character were: Their story was incredible, just as they developed it, all those things made it unique, authentic, and wonderful. Just like when they made him come back to fix all his mistakes and lies with Liz, his story with Liz was wonderful, I saw his relationship with much more potential and much more development.

I know that many do not like tom, but he is one of the best characters in the series and he deserved to be further developed. Many call him an assassin, manipulator, and a liar, but I think that was what made him wonderful as well as his short story. I don't see them doing the same with Reddington who did a lot of ugly things to Liz (I don't justify the things tom did). But he deserved to be loved, to have a happy family with Liz and Agnes, just like Liz, they both went through a lot of things just the same, and I think that's what made the two of them perfect together. They deserved to be an endgame and have a very happy ending

I think I would be very angry and sad at the same time if they put a new love interest in Liz. I would be very happy if they put flashbacks of tom, Liz, and Agnes, or tom alone. He deserved much more than what they gave him.

When Reddington is talking to Liz about Tom after she finds out the truth about him, he tells her how Tom had to try so hard to be a good person because that’s what she deserves. Fast forward a few seasons to Ressler being drugged and having his memories manipulated into almost murdering Laurel Hitchen. Liz makes a speech about how Ressler represents everything good about this country. Ressler is a genuinely good guy. He’s just more hard and stoic than Tom’s fake personality.

I don't know if I'm wrong, but I came to the conclusion that if now I saw the whole series again knowing “all” the truth, who Raymond Reddington really is, what he did and why he did it, I would affirm without any doubt that Lizzington is canon.

I haven’t abandoned #SketchEndeavor. I just switched to digital for this project and have been inching along everyday. This #BlacklistFanArtWIP is going slow but coming along. Some parts I love. Some I’m still letting percolate. While I work digital on this I’m stretching my mind to try to understand how I would accomplish the same image in analog (pencil & sketchbook). It’s been a challenging exercise and might be what’s slowing down the completion but, you know what? I got time. 😏 And the mental gymnastics has been fun, too. This has also been a challenge in another of my weaknesses, color mixing, so that’s taking time, too. All in all, I think it’s going well and I’ll be back to it again tomorrow. Thanks to all who commented with encouragements.
