Coffee in the park with Liz, please and thanks
Ah!! bless you!!
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Donnelly x reader some language, completely unedited, pure fluff. Lort i miss Liz. Also this is only a hour past midnight meaning it counts for Ms Judith Light's birthday, right? LOL ETA; Because im an idiot and forgot. covers the coffee shop sq for @adarafaelbarba bingo!
It was technically still winter and you knew you were due for another cold snap later on in the month, but today happened to be one of those miraculously balmy, warm and sunny days. The days that you could actually forgo the full winter parka, instead of seeing your breath, sunbeams shined through the air and there was an overall sense of joy and freedom through the city. Days like today you wanted to take full advantage of the sunlight, knowing that it might be back to grey skies and chilly temps within the next twelve hours.
You knew Liz wasn’t in court today, it was a paperwork day and that likely meant she hadn’t left her chambers since she got there that morning. You wandered your usual route through the courthouse halls, leaving a gentle knock on her door before pushing it open and sure enough she was behind her desk, empty Tupperware beside her. She glanced up, her face shifting into a warm smile when she noticed it was you approaching her desk.
“And to what do I owe this lovely surprise.” She asked, a hand caressing at your cheek as you leant down to kiss her hello.
“Figured I’d swing by.”
“It’s a little late for lunch.” She gestured to the empty container, “though I am eternally grateful for those leftovers.”
“You’re welcome.” You grinned, “and I know, I was thinking coffee.”
“Well I don’t see a tray in your hand.” She teased and you laughed, grabbing at her hand.
“Nope. Because we’re going out!”
“Sweetheart I’ve got to finish this.”
“Yeah? For when?” You eyed her suspiciously and her cheeks pinked.
“Next Thursday.”
“Exactly.” You pressed a tender kiss to her cheek, “so we’re gonna hit Blue Spoon because you never stop bragging that they make your cappuccino the best in the city, and I’ve been craving their homemade chocolate chip cookies and I want a batch for dessert.”
“And then?” She raised a brow and you chuckled, watching her slip her coat back on and pick up her purse.
“A walk through the park. It’s really nice out today and your office barely has a window, you need some sunshine.”
“Are you saying I’m dull?” She teased and you feigned offence.
“Never in my life.”
Smiling, you accepted her hand in yours, fingers interlacing easily as you made your way out of the courthouse in perfect sync. Elizabeth had to admit, even just seeing you in the middle of a long work day made her mood skyrocket, she was forever grateful that you worked mainly from home and made your own schedule, able to work around hers when needed and you never once lectured her from working the long hours required. You’d simply show up to surprise her, leave a little treat on her desk for her to find later, make sure she had a healthy lunch to eat, or even just shoot off a text accompanied by a photo of whatever you were doing that day, or ingredients for dinner that she had to look forward to that night.
But her favourites were always these little outings, where she got to slip out of the Judge role and into just being her, where she knew no one from work would bother her since you were at her side, ones where she got to hold you hand, listen to you talk about your day, what you were excited for that coming weekend.
You practically bounded into the café, greeting the barista with a warm smile and they started your usual drink order without even having to ask. Elizabeth had always been courteous and friendly with the staff, but you were always so enthusiastic when you chatted with them that she was pretty sure they liked you better nowadays. She secretly knew that was confirmed when there were an extra three cookies in the package you bought.
She let out a happy sigh when the two of you stepped into the park, linked arm in arm as you sipped at your beverages. You’d obviously picked the perfect time, late enough that the usual lunch crowd would have returned to their offices, and the kids were still in school, so that even despite the warmer day, the park wasn’t that crowded. The sun beamed through the air, warming both of you even more than the love and coffee surging through your veins, birds were chirping, swooping through the sky and there was a general overall feeling of happiness in the park. The younger kids that were playing giggling and playfully shrieking as they ran through the grass. It was as if the sense of coming change of seasons was making everyone just that much more positive.
You and Liz didn’t talk much during your walk, just there to enjoy each other’s company, coffee and the fresh air. There were a few comments here or there about where to have dinner that Friday, Liz wanted to take you out, treat you to a special night, even suggesting a nice shopping trip on Saturday. Blushing, you reminded her she didn’t need to do things like that, she was stuck with you at this point. She laughed in return, leaving a kiss on the tip of your nose,
“One of these days you’ll eventually remember that I simply like to spoil the people I love.”
“We both like to spoil in our own ways.” You grinned back and she chuckled.
“A cup of coffee or a home cooked meal means just as much if not more than anything luxurious, you know that, right?”
“You always say you already have everything you want, so yes, I remember.”
“I have you.” She smiled, stealing a kiss, “what more could I possibly want?”
“You’re going to make me either cry or throw up, I’m not sure which.” You laughed and she playfully rolled her eyes, though it turned into an actual eye roll when her phone pinged from her pocket. Picking it up she swiped through the notification, “duty calls?”
“Just Casey, whatever advice she wants she can wait until we’ve finished the loop.”
You felt yourself trying not to beam at the way Elizabeth repocketed her phone, it was work, there was always a chance it was urgent and she’d get a mini lecture from the prosecutor later on, but it didn’t matter. Right now she had you on her arm, a half full coffee and the sunshine was restoring her energy to get through the rest of the day. Though it wasn’t much longer before the two of you reached the end of the loop, emerging onto the street facing the courthouse and her phone pinged once again. You let out a little giggle, tossing your coffee cup into the trash.
“Little miss popular.” You teased, “Casey again?”
“Alex.” She rolled her eyes, “but on Casey’s behalf.”
“Well,” you nudged her, “go. And see what they’re doing this weekend, we should have them over for dinner again soon.”
“I’ll ask.” She cupped your cheek softly, leaning in to kiss you tenderly, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Thank you for the coffee, and the dose of sunshine.” She grinned, “though you give me enough of that without actually having to go outside.”
“Puke Liz. Puke.” You deadpanned before laughing, surging to kiss her again, “you’ll be home for dinner?”
“Of course.” She smiled, “what’s on the menu?”
“I fell down a Pinterest hole, picked up stuff for enchiladas.”
“Sounds delicious.” She was barely finished her sentence before her phone began ringing and she let out a low swear, kissing your cheek, “I’ll see you later.”
You squeezed her hand once more before you went your separate ways. Even with the interruption Elizabeth felt a million times better after seeing you, she always did, and she knew that no matter what, she always would. You were the only midday break she needed, the only sunshine required, the warmth in the middle of a cold winter, as long as she had you on her side, she was set for life.

Counterfeit
Tumblr media
Pairing: Elizabeth Donnelly x f!reader Warnings: Language, and minor hurt/comfort I suppose? It's fluff overall Summary: Despite working in different fields, you and Liz Donnelly have built up a rapport over the past few months. When Liz finally confronts you about your relationship status, you panic, not wanting to reveal the crush you've developed on her for fear you'll lose her from your life. Unbeknownst to you, the Bureau Chief has been harboring feelings of her own, and takes the matter very seriously.
---
"This is the only place around here that doesn't fuck up their espressos, so it's worth the line. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother," the woman in front of you said. You chuckled. The tiny cafe was a warm, bustling retreat that you savored going to each morning before work, despite the lengthy lines they always had. "They're the only place on my way to work that makes decent Americanos, so I feel you there," you replied, trying not to yawn.
"Nurse?" she asked, taking note of your scrubs and shoes you wished were cuter in the moment. They had the best comfort insoles you could find, but they certainly weren't as snazzy as the woman's leather loafers.
"Doctor, actually," you said with a shy smile. "I just got out of residency, so my soul isn't completely dead yet." The woman raised her eyebrows and nodded, impressed with your response. You took in her well-tailored pinstriped suit, leather briefcase, and starched white dress shirt with the collar popped. From experience with family members in law that gave off a similar aura, you could safely wager that the woman in front of you was an attorney. "Paralegal?" you asked with a wry smile. "Fuck you," she said, laughing.
---
"So then they wheel him in, and I'm guessing the guy's gonna have a few fractures from what they told us, right? Guy supposedly fell off a ladder and landed on top of a tree while he was landscaping," you said between bites of a croissant. "Nope. Nothing like that. They had to saw off the tree branch and bring it in with him, because it was stuck up inside him," you finished. The woman across from you, whose name you recently learned was Elizabeth, snickered and took another sip of her espresso. "I'm sure he'll be staying away from pine air fresheners for awhile," she joked, tossing her paper cup into the trash can as she walked towards the door. You giggled, thanking her as she held the cafe door open for you.
"Well, have a good day. I hope Alex stays out of your hair. That's her name, right?" "Yes," the blonde said. "Let's hope she does. I'm running low on Ibuprofen as it is." You parted ways on the sidewalk without another word. You began heading down towards Mercy General to start your shift, still smiling. It was nice to have a little chitchat here and there with people. Between college, medical school, and residency, you rarely had time to make friends with people outside of a hospital setting. It was finally beginning to feel like moving to the city was worth the extra expenses. "If you can't find a seat on the subway later," you heard Elizabeth say behind you. "I found you one," she said. You turned around. She gestured towards a Christmas tree strapped to the roof of a car headed down the street beside you. "Whatever," you laughed, flipping her off playfully before turning back around. --- "One espresso and one Americano for here," Elizabeth told the man behind the counter. From your position just behind her in line, you got a waft of her perfume over the smell of coffee beans and cinnamon. Something warmed in the pit of your stomach. "Elizabeth, you don't have to, really," you said, wondering if you looked more beat up than usual this morning after surviving an especially brutal shift yesterday. "Already did," she said, handing you your coffee. You admired the way her short blonde locks fell over her forehead this morning. You hadn't seen her style them that way before in the month you'd gotten to know her. "And it's Liz," she said, finishing her espresso in a single sip.
--- "We'll be trying the kid as an adult, so if the mother isn't a complete dumbass, she'll take the deal," Liz said between bites of the croissant you shared. Her fingers brushed against yours as she handed you a piece she broke off for you, and you fought to hide the blush that was threatening to bloom across your cheeks.
"We have a measles outbreak on one of the floors, so you're welcome to trade with me," you said with a smile. "I'd take catching measles over cleaning up after one of Alex's messes again, so you might just have yourself a deal," she replied with a wink. You were certain she didn't mean anything flirtatious by it, but it still made your heart skip a beat. Suddenly, a man accidentally walked into you, too preoccupied with the woman on his arm to notice you sitting at the table in the aisle. He exchanged a hasty apology, and Liz grimaced as the couple walked away. You mentally forgave the pair, as Valentine's Day was around the corner. You saw so many crumpled bodies get carted into the ER each day that you were just thankful they were able to walk in the first place, for that matter. "By the way," she said, her tone shifting into one you couldn't quite place. "You got any plans for the holiday?" Your eyes widened. It was an odd question, as you'd always known Liz to be brash and strictly business, but it was a normal thing to be curious about someone you were getting to know. You still hated the prospect of answering it honestly though, as you had recently come to terms with the fact that you found Liz rather attractive, and your daily meetups over breakfast and coffee had become the highlight of your weekdays. Though it had only been a few months, you now thought about her while you were at work, wondering what trouble the ADAs were stirring up for her, and even when you laid down to head off to sleep. The woman hadn't given you any indication of being with someone, and she didn't wear a ring or talk about anyone romantically. To be honest, you were too afraid to ask her about her own romantic life, for fear you'd get an answer you wouldn't like.
Across the table, she raised her eyebrows impatiently. Your heart began to race sickeningly, a bead of cold sweat sliding down the back of your neck. Your eyes darted around the room, scanning the menus and signs that adorned the walls of the cafe. "Joe Cortado," you blurted. You immediately wished a sinkhole would open up below you and swallow you into the earth. It was just about the stupidest thing you could've said. Liz's face went blank. Something in her eyes shifted. "Pity. Guy sounds like a douchebag."
---
"Elliot, I need you to run a background check for me," Liz said coolly. The detective stared at her quizzically. "With all due respect, ma'am, what's this all about?" he asked, crossing his arms against his chest.
"The why isn't relevant to you." "So this isn't related to a case?" Liz tilted her head and furrowed her brow. "Detective, if Kathy was spending time around some schmuck, tell me you wouldn't run his name." Elliot smirked, eventually nodding in agreement. "Who's the schmuck we're looking for?"
Liz slid him a piece of paper with a name scribbled across it. --- You rifled through your cabinet, mentally swearing at yourself over never having gotten around to buying espresso cups in the time since you'd moved here. Your mom's old Winnie the Pooh mug you took with you when you moved would have to do. "Liz, is there something wrong?" you asked, turning to the woman that had an iron grip on your kitchen countertop. "Tell me something." "Something," you replied, giggling. She rolled her eyes and huffed. "Are you aware of the kind of company you're keeping?" Your face scrunched up, unsure of what she was getting at. "What do you mean?" She took a deep breath, not even questioning the mug you handed her. "I'm concerned for your safety." "Liz, if this is about the measles outbreak, I'm fine. I don't work in that ward, I promise," you said, trying to throw her a reassuring smile. Her frown didn't lighten up. "I am not talking about measles, I'm talking about the good for nothing low life that probably has plans to take you to some two star restaurant for a half-rate steak this weekend for Valentine's Day," she began ranting, some sort of floodgate having burst. "And then he'll flounder on top of you for five minutes on his sorry excuse for a bed before he runs off and guns down a couple other gangbangers to top off his night." You froze across from her. You were thankful you hadn't been holding anything at the moment, because you surely would have dropped it. "Who are you talking about? I don't know anyone in a gang," you replied, laughing uncomfortably. "So he hasn't told you, or are you too blind to see that, too?" Liz's eyes steeled. "I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what this is in regards to, and I can tell it's eating at you," you said, walking closer to her. The attorney's jaw tightened. "Joe Cortado," she said through clenched teeth. Your breath stopped in your chest. Liz's eyes narrowed. "I had one of the detectives run his name. Were you aware that he's racked up charges for aggravated assault and armed robbery? If that wasn't enough for you, he's currently under investigation for running a counterfeit operation." You couldn't help but let out a laugh, running a hand across your forehead. "I don't see how this is funny," Liz said, clearly even more aggravated by your reaction. You took a deep breath before resting a tentative hand on her shoulder. "Liz, he's not real." "Excuse me?" You swallowed thickly, mentally kicking yourself at how poorly this was all coming to light. "I panicked when you asked me whether I had plans for Valentine's Day, and found the first words on the cafe menu that could pass as a name," you managed. "Truth is...I didn't want to admit that I've fallen for you, because I don't want to lose you."
Liz's gaze fell to the mug in her hands. She chewed at her bottom lip. "Why did it matter so much to you, anyway?" you asked slowly. "I feel bad that he turned out to be a real person, because you were ready to have him dragged into custody." Liz was uncharacteristically silent for a few moments. She then looked up at you, wide brown eyes holding the faintest vulnerability in them. "Because I was hoping to make plans with you myself," Liz answered. "To be honest, I wouldn't have taken well to anything you would've said besides admitting you didn't have plans." Stunned, your jaw fell slack. She set the mug down on the countertop and turned to you. She reached out and cupped your cheeks, pulling you into a soft kiss. You involuntarily sighed into it, arms looping up around her neck.
"So..." you started, fiddling with a button along her shirt when you finally broke the kiss. "What are we doing for Valentine's Day this weekend?" She pulled you closer to her chest and kissed your forehead. "Buying you a proper set of espresso cups."

SVU FALL BINGO! A request from @storiesofsvu:  Can you do a Donnelly x reader for “cabin in the woods?” A nice lill relaxing fluffy weekend upstate somewhere cozy with pretty leaves & apple picking or something? đŸ„ș💜
I have never written for Donnelly before and to be honest I was terrified. But this year I was determined to do anything and everything to step outside of my comfort zone so here goes nothing?
Characters/Relationship: Elizabeth Donnelly x Reader
Warnings: Just all fluff my lovelies
Word Count: 969 (Look at me I can stay under a 1,000 words sometimes)
A little PS: I wrote my own poem to go with this. it is short and sweet and I love it.
--------------------------------------
You sat in the bay window that was in the living room of the cabin looking out at the backyard that seemed to go for miles and miles. Your knees were pulled to your chest as you tried to ignore that the open window was letting in a little too much of the cold morning air. Red, yellow, and orange leaves fell slowly to the ground in front of you. Hidden from the visible eye squirrels ran from tree to tree collecting acorns their excited noises filling the air. Everything was so beautiful and calm. It was your favorite time of year. A time that you typically never got to enjoy when you were a teacher.
Sure you had been able to take children out to do nature walks to collect leaves for art projects but you never had been able to sit in silence and enjoy it. Even after all the children abandoned the hallways to go home the work never stopped. Hours were spent at your kitchen table checking assignments and deciding what to do for the next day. By the time that you were done with everything you were too exhausted to even attempt to join your friends in fall festivities.
That however had all changed when you found Elizabeth. You both met at a conference that you had been attending in Chicago at the time. She happened to be at the same hotel for her own set of meetings but had locked eyes with you at the bar and never looked back. She spent all night and the entire weekend doing her best to win you over. You never would admit it to her but she had already won your heart by the time she had come over to introduce herself. When she figured out that you lived in New York she was determined that you were going to have the first date that you never would forget.
A week after the conference Elizabeth did not disappoint. She pulled out all the stops showering you in adoration and taking you to all the places you had dreamed about but had never been. That first date quickly turned into another and then another. Now a year later you were wearing the engagement ring that she had given you a little over a week ago. That is when she had proposed this cabin weekend getaway in upstate New York. She knew that this time of year was perfect to catch the leaves as they were just beginning to turn colors and fall. You had accepted immediately. Elizabeth was the love of your life and you couldn’t imagine not spending the rest of your days by her side.
Just as a squirrel began to run down the tree in front of the window a noise from the kitchen startled both of you. The noise was followed by a loud: Fucking Hell from Elizabeth.
“Are you okay babe?” You called out turning to get up.
“Yes! Yes! Don’t move from your spot, you looked so peaceful. I was trying to get a picture of it but I misplaced my phone. When I went to find it I ran into the cupboard,” Elizabeth huffed moving to the living room.
You giggled as she moved towards you rubbing her arm, “You are falling apart my love.”
“It’s all this quietness! I don’t know how to not be doing a million things at once,” She huffed going into your outstretched arms.
“You were the one who suggested this no work get away.”
“Well of course!” Elizabeth replied pressing a kiss to the top of your head, “We have lots to celebrate. Our engagement, my promotion, but most importantly
 you quitting your job to pursue your dreams.”
You sighed for a moment looking back out the window, “You don’t think I made a mistake leaving teaching to become a full time poet?”
“Not even for a second baby,” Your fiance said turning your head to look at her, “You are an amazing writer and you deserve to have people know your work. I am so proud of you and I am going to support you every single step of the way.”
You smiled kissing her, “I love you, Elizabeth Donnelly.”
“And I love you Y/N Donnelly,” She grinned hugging you close to her, “What should we do today?”
Both of you spent the next couple of minutes debating how to fill the rest of your day before settling upon apple picking at the local orchard down the road. Once you were dressed in your warm fall clothes Elizabeth grabbed your hand giving you a kiss on the cheek. On the walk down to the orchard, you recited some of the poetry that you had been writing. Elizabeth was quick to give praise and helpful tips to make it flow better always reminding you that she was proud of all that you had accomplished.
When you got to the orchard Elizabeth carried the basket around as you ran in and out of trees looking for the best apples. She couldn’t help but grin as she saw the way your eyes twinkled with excitement. At one point you even made her jump into a large pile of leaves. You both fell with tangled limbs into the pile laughter filling the air as the leaves danced around you. Everything that you did made Elizabeth feel young and full of life. You were her sunshine on the darkest of days.
As the leaves began to settle she pressed her forehead to yours and recited her favorite poem you had written back to you:
The everlasting love
comes by surprise.
Whisking you away
like a leaf falling from a tree.
In this lifetime
and a thousand others
I would trust you to catch me as I fell.

Elizabeth Donnelly comforts reader
Tumblr media
Y/N had just returned from a horrible situation that winded up with a houseful of dead children being found. To say that you weren't taking things well was an understatement. You had been frantically pacing and sobbing hysterically and shouting in Captain Olivia Benson's office while she rather unsuccessfully tried to calm you down. You had finally quieted down and were sitting on the floor in a tight ball, unwilling to let anyone near you, let alone touch you when Liv called her. A sense of calm, of peace, fell over the room as Elizabeth made her way towards your heartbroken and shattered form on the floor. Slowly she squatted down and gently reached out and lifted your face and gave you a small reassuring smile before you threw yourself into her waiting embrace. Most people were shocked when they realized the two of you were in love, but not Liv, she knew that Y/N was the only one who could tear down the judge's carefully built and maintained walls just like she tore down all your walls as well, in a way that no one else ever could. You trust one another implicitly, and with her rocking you in her arms briefly on the floor, she offers you her hand and lovingly escorts you from Olivia's office, with her hand guiding you on the small of your back she escorts you to the elevator and pushes the button for your floor. While the elevator doors slowly slide shut Elizabeth leans into you and quietly asks you to tell her everything and how she would gladly shoulder this burden with you so that you would know that with her you are never alone. Once to her car it felt like only moments had passed before you were guided into Liz's brownstone. You were barely through the door before she had you pinned to the door, breath gone from your lungs as she kisses you using her eager tongue to part your lips and in doing so deepening the kiss. Then you were all limbs and fingers grasping and stroking through one another's hair, gasping moans into one another's needy kisses. Elizabeth decides to fuck you against the door all while watching you come undone around her fingers she leans in close and says "Look at me, I want to see you cum for me." As she says this you throw your head back on the front door cumming as her fingers pump expertly in and out of your drenched core. When you had finished she kisses you deeply and throatily tells you to get the bottle of scotch and meet her in her master bath. Elizabeth took her time bathing and pampering and worshipping every inch of your gorgeous and tired body. Afterwards you spent the night in one another's embrace and fall asleep with your head on Liz's chest and her face buried in your hair. The next day when you returned to SVU you were like a new person. Olivia remarked on this to Elizabeth who with a knowing smile on her face said "Nothing a little TLC couldn't fix." Olivia is left shaking her head and chuckling to herself as she pulls out her phone and dials Elliot's number, "TLC indeed."

Not Always Traditional (Only For You) - Elizabeth Donnelly/Casey Novak
A/N: Massive fluff for @storiesofsvu ‘s birthday bingo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Liz
” “Happy Birthday Case
” Casey’s sigh is soft even as she turns to look at Elizabeth Donnelly, friend and, for the longest time, confidante. She hadn’t expected this level of affection even from Liz, but she knew that Liz liked to surprise people. “Do you like them?” “You bought me
 an entire apartment worth of flowers
 of course I like them.” Casey’s smile is soft and she sighs as she moves away long enough to lock the door, turning to watch Elizabeth move into the kitchen and allow herself a smile. She’s not had a birthday like this in years, since her ex, but now
 now she’s glad she mentioned it to Liz. “Can I ask
 why?” “You deserve it Casey
” Liz is soft-spoken and Casey moves closer, accepting the wine glass from Liz, curling herself happily into Liz’s side, her smile soft as she looks over at her again. “Still feeling guilty then?” “Mmm, no
” Liz is smirking and they fall to silence as they share the wine, Liz’s hand shifts to Casey’s hip and Casey shivers a little. “The only thing I’m guilty of is wanting to ruin a friendship and make a relationship
” Liz’s voice is low and husky and Casey barely bites back a groan when Liz’s fingers slip under her shirt, rubbing over the dip of her hipbone again. “Is that a yes?” Casey smirks, hand covering Liz’s. “Only if you behave.” They make it to the bed slowly, Liz pulling Casey down over her with a smirk, swallowing Casey’s sigh again. She had intended simply to give the girl flowers, but now she itches for more, for all of Casey all over again. ïżœïżœDon’t I always?” The words are teasing and Casey barely hides her laugh. “No, usually the only flowers I get are an apology.” She’s teasing but she smiles when Liz sighs, kissing her again softly. “I prefer birthday flowers
 especially from you, you old romantic.”

Requests & Prompt-List
Warnings: angst, a little fluff, dead dove: do not eat, implied abuse, implied sexual assault, implied abusive husband, comforting, crying, alcohol consumption, anxiety attacks, a little self destructive behavior, mentions to prostitution, SVU things, Elizabeth Donnelly, Alex Cabot, Rafael Barba, Olivia Benson, Liz and Alex are a bit of a power couple, gray ending, etc.
Enjoy (;
You didn’t know Rita Calhoun well. At least not originally. From the moment you did meet, you both couldn’t deny the connection between the two of you. You had always lived in coinciding worlds, she was a New York defense attorney, and you were an investigator for 1PP, occasionally lended out to SVU.
Originally, she was the lawyer whom you had hired for your idiot of a brother when he had been caught and charged with soliciting a prostitute. You had met with the high class woman on a couple of occasions, to discuss your brothers bail, probation, trial, payment, and anything else pertaining to his case.
You saw yourself intrigued by her elegant manner, high end fashion, and confidence. Soon you saw yourself get hooked to the tiny smiles and chuckles you managed to pull from her when in private. You found yourself fighting to make the woman laugh as much as you could, her laugh always seemed to make your day. And during the trial, your eyes were on her the entire time. You lived off those days outfits that Rita would strut into court in.
So when you checked your phone late Friday night, the last thing you expected to see what a very many handfuls of missed calls from Rita Calhoun. You saw that she had left a voicemail in the last call, so you pressed play.
“Heyyyy Y/N
 S-sorry to be bothering you so I know it’s^^late
 I
 I just
 I don’t know what to do, call me back k bye”
It was Rita alright, but something was very wrong. She had been stammering and hiccuping throughout the entire voicemail, and had broken into sobs by the end. She sounded like she’d been crying and drinking for far too long
 Her sounds triggered memories of your own life, memories that you had gone to great lengths to bury.
You immediately called the woman back. The dial rang for a couple tones, then it shut off. You hit call again. The second time, she picked up. You heard a sniffle and then a choke sob.
“H-hey
” she practically whispered.
“Rita, Hi, is everything alright?”
“I
” She stammered, before the call went silent.
“Rita?” You asked, your concern growing.
“N-no” She whispered, then letting out another choked sob.
You took a deep breath and your instincts kicked in once more. You got Rita to give you her address and told her that you would be over as soon as possible. That night you broke the made the most traffic violations in your entire life.
You entered the house, the front door having been unlocked which was mildly concerning to you. You walked through the lavish, lofty apartment, until you found Rita curled up facing away from you in the living room on the floor with a full bottle of wine in her hand. Your heart sank and a lump came into your throat. You hated how normal and used to this sight you were. Because not too long ago, this had been you

You dropped to the floor, immediately going to comfort the woman. You carefully removed the alcohol, setting it aside. Rita let out a choke sob, immediately curling up into your lap. As she turned to face you, you saw the massive black eye that she had. Your eyes scanned her entire body, finding more red, raw skin marks along her arms and some blue bruising on her neck. Your heart nearly broke as Rita sobbed into your lap.
“I—im s-sorry
 I didn’t-didn’t know who t-to call
! It’s it’s stupid, nothing really—” Rita choked out, muffled as she cried into your chest.
You knew this behavior. You knew it all too well.
“Hey hey, it’s okay. I’m here Rita
 It’s all going to be okay. Can I touch you, honey
? Would that be alright
?” You very gently asked the woman, coming a little closer to her, trying to show that you were no threat.
Rita nodded as her cries were muffled by her face being in the crook of your neck. She clung onto you like her life depended on it.
“Ok, good
 you are doing so good for me, Rita. Take some deep breaths for me? Can you try to do that?” You comforted the woman, bringing your hands around to hold the woman in your lap.
You could hear Rita trying to take some deep breaths as she nodded, although her hiccups made it more difficult.
“Good, very good, Rita.” You praised, then bringing your hands to cup the woman’s cheeks and direct her scattered gaze to you.
“Now Rita this is important
 I need you to come back to me and think, okay?”
A slow nod.
“Is he going to come back anytime soon
?” You softly asked.
Rita’s eyes widened and she began to panic at your question. Your hold on the woman only tightened and you insisted on her answer.
“I know you don’t want to think about it, but I need to know if you’re safe staying here Rita.” You explained firmly yet lovingly.
Rita took some more deep breaths before stammering,
“I
 he he’s gone out
 drinking
” she gulped, “Be back late
”
Her eyes were red and glossy, and they only panicked more at the idea of her husband returning. You rubbed her back and caressed her check in comfort.
“Ok. We need to get you to a hospital, Rita
” you gently said, knowing the possible outlast that your words might cause.
Rita practically jumped out of your lap and was quick to stand up and start pacing in the living room. Her fingers were red and raw and fidgeting. Her gaze scattered everywhere. You slowly stood up and tried to corner the woman into your embrace.
“No no no hospitals
 hospitals means cops and that means court and no no—” Rita rambled, her thoughts spiraling more and more.
You grabbed the woman’s hands, clasping them in your own to ground the woman. Her sobbing gaze finally met yours once more.
“Okay. That’s okay. Rita, listen to me, is there anywhere you can go to stay for the time being
?” You softly asked.
Rita’s lip began to tremble and her knees buckled, her body falling into yours. Luckily, you managed to gently catch and carry the weight of the woman while she regained partial strength.
“N-not RAF—Rafael
 he can’t know, no no no one
” Rita choked out in gasps.
When she wasn’t able to come up with any other options, your mind went to the person who had helped you.
“Okay okay, that’s okay, Rita. How about Elizabeth? You know Judge Donnelly? She’s a close friend and I know she can help
” you spoke with understanding and reassurance.
Rita looked up to you from collapsing in your arms and nodded slowly. But her eyes told you that she had sunken too far into her thoughts, that you would have to start making the decisions in her best interest until she came back to you.
You gently placed Rita back on the couch, quickly going to the kitchen to grab her a water, while you then ran around the place, trying to pack her a weekend back. After about 15 minutes, you had the bag in hand and you were leading the woman out of the house and into a cab. The entire cab ride, Rita was snuffling and silently sobbing in your shoulder.
Once you reached Liz’s brownstone, you violently knocked on the door, Rita protected being you and holding your hand. The door flew open but it wasn’t Liz, it was a blonde. Your eyes went wide and you gulped, suddenly regretting not having double checked with Liz beforehand.
“You’re Y/N, right
? I’m Alex.” The tall blonde spoke slowly yet confidently.
“Yes, um is Liz home?” You said, quickly getting to the point while trying to hide Rita behind you to the best of your ability.
But Liz had told you about Alex, she was sharp, didn’t miss a thing.
“Yea, she’s in the kitchen
 Is that Calhoun
?” Alex hummed, leaning against the doorway.
You took a deep breath and brought Rita to stand next to you. Alex’s jaw dropped and she took a step back in shock.
“I just
 we needed a safe place to go for the night and Liz always said her door was always open and I’m sorry if we intruded, I just can’t handle this, I mean I know Liz can handle it, and so I thought—” you rambled.
Before you could say another word, the blonde was pulling you and Rita into the brownstone, closing the door behind her and marching straight up to Liz in the kitchen.
“Is that our take-out, bunny
?” Liz hummed, while sipping some wine before her gaze met yours and then Rita’s disheveled state.
“Oh my god.” Liz immediately put her glass doing and rushed over to Rita, her hands wandering all over the woman, her gaze scouring the woman’s injuries, “Rita, Darling, what happened
??”
Rita’s lip trembled before more violent sobs came out. No coherent words were possible for the woman at this point, all she could do was embrace Liz and sob into her chest. Liz happily consoled the poor woman before her gaze meet yours along with the go bag.
“I’m sorry
” you mouthed, referring to breaking up her and Alex’s obvious night together.
“Hush now, you did the right thing, take Rita’s things to the first bedroom on the second floor.” Liz told you, waving off your unneeded apology.
You immediately nodded and went to go up the stairs. Then Luz turned to Alex.
“Go run a bath, warm not too hot.” Liz spoke firmly.
Alex was off to the master bathroom after a quick nod. When you both returned, you found Rita clung around Liz like a Koala, clinging on for dear life and continuing to sob in her chest. The sight brought flashbacks of the night you had stumbled up on Liz’s doorstep, in an eerily same condition as Rita

Liz soothed Rita while guiding her to the master bathroom. The older blonde sent you a comforting gaze with a nod, telling you that she had it. You placed a hand on your heart and took a shattered breath, nodding slowly.
It was then that you noticed Alex coming up beside you. You turned your head to her slightly.
“I
 I just didn’t know where else to go
 I’m sorry if I ruined your night
” you breathed out.
Alex brought a hand to your shoulder and reassuringly squeezed your skin lightly. Her eyes twinkled with sympathy and care.
“Hey, it’s okay. You made the right call. And hey, I’m glad to finally meet you.” Alex sighed, “Can I get you anything
?”
You nodded and then sighed yourself.
“Tea maybe
? Or fuck some scotch now that I think about it
”
A deep chuckle reverberated throughout Alex’s chest as she nodded in agreement, going to the kitchen and pulling a bottle out of the liquor cabinet. She poured two glasses and handed you one of them.
“Thanks” you muttered.
Alex hummed an of course in response, before going to sit down in the classy living room. You sat across from her, sipping your scotch lightly. The blonde looked you dead in the eye, as she sighed.
“Liz told me a bit about you and that night.”
You gulped and struggled to maintain the intense eye contact. You knew that Liz and Alex were close, really close, however it still was hard to reconcile another person knowing something so vulnerable about you. But if Liz trusted Alex with it, so did you.
“Yea
 I was and am still so grateful to Lizzie for all that she did for me
” you confessed.
“Lizzie
?” Alex chuckled dryly with a cock of an eyebrow.
“Yea
” you breathily chuckled, “Her and my dad worked together
”
Alex smiled lightly in understanding, nodding along, waving her hand in the air and prompting you to continue, knowing from what Liz had said that that wasn’t the whole story.
“Yeah they were colleagues, and so I saw Lizzie at events and she’d been at my childhood home a couple times
 I’d always been pretty independent, both my parents working all the time, and me being the oldest led to me getting used to being on my own. And then my parents divorced, and I got even more alone
” you sighed.
Another wave of sympathy washed over Alex’s face, as she sipped her scotch and listened intently.
“I’m sorry. I definitely know the pains of divorced parents
” Alex sighed.
You smiled lightly and nodded, before continuing you tawdry tale,
“Anyways, Lizzie was one of the only people who reached out to me, to y’know check on me and stuff. She’s always been in my corner, and she’s practically filled the role of a mother ever since the divorce
” you spoke out softly.
You could tell that Alex knew most of this, and that she was waiting for the part about how this all connected to Rita, so you cut to the chase.
“Anyways, about two years ago, I meet and started to see this guy
 Looking back, he was a lot like my father, and I should have recognized the warning signs earlier
 But I didn’t. And I let it go on for an entire year
 Until
” you sucked in a breath, “I wound up on Lizzie’s doorstep, heart broken and bruised
”
You saw Alex’s audible gulp at your last sentence. You saw how her hand tightly clutched her glass, her knuckles almost white. With a deep breath, she nodded and prompted you to continue with her hand once more.
“Anywho, Lizzie helped me get my shit together and throw him out of my place and my life. I’d taken his abuse for a whole year, and I’m still recovering to this day from the number he did on me
” You concluded your story.
Alex then stood up and came to sit next to you on the couch you inhabited. Her hand came to squeeze your shoulder reassuringly.
“I’m so sorry that you had to go through all of that
” Alex sighed, “I hear you, recovery takes time.”
You took a breathy, deep breath with a shaky nod, all the memories of your past coming up as you talked about it all. But her touch was soothing. It was then that Liz emerged from the hallway and came into the living room with a sigh. The older woman sat down next to you, a hand running up and down your thigh in reassurance.
“She’s okay, Rita is going to be fine.” Liz hummed, before stealing your glass of scotch and sipping away at it.
You didn’t mind the cheeky gesture, lord knows she needed the relaxation, merely humming and nodding in response.
“She’s in the bath, and she’s asking for you
” Liz spoke once more.
You sucked in a breath and nodded, starting to stand up. As you went to leave and find Rita in the master bath, you turned back towards Liz and Alex, who were now snuggling lovingly on the couch.
“Thank you Lizzie
 Really, thank you.” You breathed out shakily.
Liz met your gaze, her eyes filled with love and care, and the older woman nodded.
“Anytime, sweetheart.”
You nodded lightly with a small smile, before turning around and making your way to find Rita. By the time you reached the bath, you found Rita passed out in the warm water, snoring lightly and peacefully. You noted how graceful and content Rita looked asleep. Coming up to the tub, you sat down next to the rim, and proceeded to tuck a stray hair behind Rita’s ear.
She must be exhausted
 you thought. And your suspicions were confirmed as the woman continued to sleep until the water in the tub threatened to go cold. It was then that you gently nudged the brunette out from her slumber. She snorted lightly as her eyes fluttered open. Her gaze still looked shattered and sad, and her lip was still lightly trembling.
“Fuck I’m mm sorry, I must have fallen asleep—” Rita rambled in a quiet mumble.
“Hush, none of that. It’s completely alright
” you comforted the woman, raising your hand for her to stop.
Rita shut her mouth and blushed a little, then shivering in the now cold bath water.
“Thanks
” she whispered.
“Of course. Now let’s get you out and into something warm
” you hummed, grabbing a fluffy towel from the bathroom cabinet and then reaching your hand out towards Rita.
Rita happily took your hand, then climbing out of the tub, then you proceeded to wrap the woman up in the warm towel.
“M-my clothes
” Rita murmured, looking to the ground as fear lurched in the pit of her stomache at the idea of having to wear her bloodied clothing.
You gently rubbed her towel wrapped shoulders with a light smile.
“I grabbed some things before we left your place, the bag is on the toilet. It will have to do for now, until we figure out what to do
” you cooed caringly.
Rita blushed lightly and muttered a thank you. You told her it’s was the least that you could do, before giving her a kiss on the forehead and leaving her in the bathroom to go through the bag and change.
As you exited the room and walked back into the living room, you found Liz and Alex right where you had left them, with Alex curled up in Liz’s arms. Liz’s head popped up from her gaze on Alex back to you as you came into the living room and took a seat on an opposing couch, with a pondering look on your face.
“I know that look
” Liz hummed cheekily, taking another sip of your scotch, “What’s on your mind, kiddo?”
You bit your lip, pulling out your phone, before looking over to Liz.
“I was thinking about maybe calling Barba
” you mused aloud, your mind questioning on what to do next.
At this, Alex perked up to. Liz’s eyes widened and her expression was a knowing one, one that quickly understood your line of thought.
“I see
 What did Rita say?” Liz hummed, placing the scotch back on the table and much to Alex’s delight starting to massage the young blonde’s shoulders.
You looked away from Liz at her words, and back to your phone.
“When I asked where she could go, she said not Rafael
 I know that their friends, she’s mentioned him before
 But he could help
” you sighed, inwardly conflicted.
Liz sighed at your admission. And she seemed to be in deep thought for a moment before she spoke,
“When you came to me, did I call anyone
?” The older woman asked you.
You bit your lip and sighed.
“No
”
“Exactly. Even though I wanted to
 Probably would have called Liv, but I didn’t. Because you didn’t want me to.” Liz spoke,
You once again looked to the ground instead of meeting the older woman’s gaze.
“I’m not saying that Barba is a bad idea
” she slowly explained, “I think that it would be best if we ask Rita first.”
“Ask me what?” Rita’s timid voice echoed through the expansive living room and kitchen.
All three of your heads swiveled with extreme speed to the end of the hallway where the brunette stood. She padded her way through part of the kitchen and then into the living room. You immediately scooted over and lightly waved her over to come and sit. Rita did exactly that before repeating her question, more vocal this time.
“What did you want to ask me first?” The woman spoke.
Liz and Alex immediately eyed you, quirking their eyebrows and very clearly telling you that since this was your idea, you were the one who was going to say something. You gulped, turning your body more towards the group. Your gaze met Rita’s and you reached your hands out to grasp her left available hand and reassuringly squeeze it.
“I
 We were talking about maybe calling Liv
 or Barba
” you shakily breathed out, squeezing her hand lovingly while speaking to comfort the woman.
The same panic from earlier this night came rushing back to the woman’s gaze. But she was a little more collected now, and she seemed to handle the surge of emotions better this time around.
“I
” Rita stammered, “I don’t know
”
She slumped forward a bit and closed her eyes, a singular tear escaping her eyes. You immediately extended your arm and brought the brunette into your soft embrace.
“That’s okay. We can deal with all that later
 How are you feeling
?” You gently spoke.
“Exhausted
” Rita choked out, “and stupid
 like it’s all my fault
!”
The broken defense lawyer turned completely towards you, clinging to your frame as she began to cry into your shoulder. You gently caressed her back and shoulders reassuringly.
“That’s it, it’s going to be ok, Rita
 It’s all going to be okay
” you soothed the woman.
“B-but how do you know that
?”
You sighed.
“Because
 I’ve been through something eerily similar
”
At this, Rita pulled back and looked at you with eyes full of empathy.
“I’m so sorry
” she uttered, fully processing the words you had just spoken.
You smiled lightly and cupped Rita’s face.
“It’s okay
 I’m past that now. Now I’m here for you
 Now how about bed
?” You hummed caringly.
Rita nodded and hummed a soft thank you, before you guided the woman up and to one of Liz’s many guest bedrooms. You stayed with her until she was asleep, which didn’t take too long, but you stayed nonetheless, before then turning in for the night yourself in another guest room, which Liz had so kindly offered you.
~~
Rita spent the rest of the weekend at Liz’s. Liz and Alex were more than happy to host, and they graciously let you stay as well to keep an eye on the broken brunette.
Then come Monday morning, you were walking into the SVU squad room with Rita anxiously by your side. You grabbed her shaky hand and squeezed it reassuringly, as your other hand rapped on Captain Liv Benson’s office door. Neither of you expected Barba to swing the door open, and he sure as hell didn’t expect to see Rita.
Liv ushered you in, and Rafael could immediately sense something was wrong. Rafael simply closed the door behind you, not bothering to leave.
“Rita, Y/N, how can I help you?” Liv spoke.
Rita shuffled her feet and looked to the ground. You squeezed her hand again and whispered that it was going to be okay.
“Wait what is going on
?” Rafael cut in.
Liv sent Barba a warning glance for him to be quiet to let you or Rita speak. You gently looked towards the brunette, whose lip was now trembling.
“I
 I was raped
” Rita shakily breathed out, as a small tear rolled down her left cheek.
~~~
Part 2 with a happy ending
? Or maybe something more angsty
? 😏
Tumblr media
(Elizabeth Donnelly x Reader- Fluff)
The request for this imagine stated that they wanted a plus-sized reader. However, I haven't mentioned anything about the reader being plus-sized or not.
Tumblr media
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
You had joined the Special Victims Unit a few months ago as a detective. You had helped put away many criminals, such as rapists and pedophiles, and had gone before many judges whilst you helped the victims of the heinous attacks.
However, there was only one judge that had caught your eye, and that was Elizabeth Donnelly. A month into your job with SVU, Elizabeth had invited you out for drinks at her favourite bar that wasn't far from the precinct. That night, you ended up at her apartment, naked in her silk bed sheets. After that, you had both been a few more dates together and decided that you both really liked each other, before settling the deal and becoming exclusive.
Recently, you had been assigned to working with Olivia Benson as her old partner, Stabler, had left his job with SVU. You had just tackled a notoriously dangerous rapist, who received life sentence for his crimes, ruled by Donnelly.
"Hey, Y/N. How about you come for some celebratory drinks down at the bar with me and the squad?" Liv offered.
"Sure." You agreed as you reached for your jacket, swinging it over your shoulders.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
You and the rest of the squad were sat huddled around a table in the bar, when Fin ushered you to go and grab some more drinks for you all, extending his palm out to you, gesturing for you to grab the money from him.
"The next round is on me." You chuckled as the team cheered at your generosity.
As you stood at the bar waiting for your order to be finished, a middle-aged man walked up to you, a crisp ironed suit tailored to his muscular frame.
"Hey, can I get you a drink, sweetheart?" His lips curled to reveal his pearly white teeth, glistening in the dim lights of the bar.
"Umm, no thanks. I'm just ordering for my friend."
"I don't see your friend. A pretty girl like you shouldn't be here by yourself." You cringed as his hand moved its way to your arm, pulling you closer to his side.
"She's with me." You heard a deep voice ring out, a possessive arm wrapping around your waist. The man let go of your arm as your were pulling away from his reach, turning to cuddle into Liz's side.
"I-I didn't know. I'm s-sorry." He stuttered as he grabbed his drink and practically ran away from you both, toward the other side of the bar.
"Are you okay, princess? He didn't hurt you, did he?" She questioned, as her eyes raked your body.
"No, not at all. Just made me a bit uncomfortable, that's all." You cheeks flushed red as you turned to see the whole squad looking back at you as Elizabeth cradled you in her arms, her lips landing on your cheek.
Liz turns to the direction your eyes are staring, and realises that she has just outed you both to the entire squad, not realising that they were at the bar with you.
"I'm sorry, baby. I should've know that you'd be here with them after your massive win today. Congratulations, by the way." She leaned down and place a soft kiss to your lips. "Stop gawking. Yes, Y/N and I are together."
She rolled her eyes and sets down yours and hers drinks, and the rest of the squad stared in shock at the revelation. You and Olivia went back to the bar and retrieved the drinks that you had bought for the squad. When you got back to the table, the team congratulated both you and Liz, telling you that they are happy, and Fin making commented about how he is happy that Liz will be more relaxed if she getting laid, which made you all laugh.
Note
Ok you know I’m a whore for angst but since you begged for fluff
.
How about #32 “I never knew I could miss someone this much” and a character we don’t see much of
 like Liz Donnelly (have fun with it)
Liz Donnelly x reader Warnings: language, all fluff folks.
You'd known when you and Liz had first gotten involved that she was a career woman through and through. She worked long hours, often longer than required, bringing work home with her and sometimes it bled into the weekends. She loved her career and the life that it had brought her, even if it meant babysitting reckless prosecutors on the regular. You had no qualms with this, your own work was important, and it made so that the time you and Liz did spend together was just that much better and more treasured. She never cancelled dates, if she said she was going to be there, she was there and never a moment late. She cherished you, and was incredibly thankful for your patience. If you came downstairs on Sunday morning to find her working through a case file rather than the Sunday crossword, you simply left a kiss on the top of her head before heading into the kitchen. You'd make sure she had fresh coffee topped up and make an easy breakfast for her to eat without having to stop her work before curling up on the couch with a book until she was finished what she needed.
One of the large benefits that came with Liz being such a prominent attorney and bureau chief were the many dinners and galas. While some hated on them, they were always lavish events of free food and drinks, socializing your way through Manhattan as the night went on. Liz had been incredibly proud at the first one she'd brought you to, you not only held your own but proved your wit in a friendly debate with Alex. She loved to show you off at these events, making sure you always had time to take yourself shopping (on her dime of course) the week before. Having you on her arm was the highlight of her night.
The downside of being with someone like Liz was that she often had to travel for work. You'd been surprised when it had first come up, thinking that she worked in the DA's office and occasionally the courtroom. But Elizabeth Donnelly was a name well known in the legal world all across the country. She often guest lectured at colleges and universities, travelling out of state often, spending weeks at a time in Cambridge. You were currently in the midst of one of those weeks, though at least this time it was only five days. Liz had left you with keys to her brownstone, insisting that it was closer to your work that you should stay while she was gone, besides, who else was going to water the plants?
So you made the space a little more your own that week, a couple of work books scattered on the dining room table, a novel on the coffee table that you'd slowly been working through and a few items in the fridge that you couldn't live without. You had a habit of snooping through Liz's closets to find a cozy sweater that had a lingering of her perfume, pulling it on as the warm days morphed into chilly nights, rain often pattering the windows of the brownstone.
It was one of those rainy evenings, you had homemade stew sitting in the crock pot all day, knowing that it would hit the spot at the end of the day. The smells wafted through the house, your stomach beginning to rumble at the thought of dinner. You knew Liz was due home that night but were unaware of the time, so you'd placed one of your favorite vinyl's on, a soft instrumental playlist floating through the house while you started to tidy up. You made sure the sheets were changed, fresh clean and cozy ones waiting, pillows extra fluffed and laundry all done. The kitchen was practically spotless, clean dishes all put away, only a bottle of red wine aerating next to two glasses on the counter. You folded a couple of blankets over the back of the couch and picked up a couple more things in there before you retreated back to kitchen. It wasn't quite dinner time yet, but you could always enjoy a glass of wine while you waited for the timer to go off. Distracted in your own imagination you missed the sound of the door opening and Liz moving through the house. You let out a little squeak when she wrapped around your waist from behind and she chuckled softly, pressing a kiss behind your ear.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." She greeted and you turned in her arms, greeting her with a proper kiss, "smells delicious."
"Thought it was best for a chilly day."
"Second best." She smiled, stealing another kiss, "getting to come home to you is the best. I never knew I could miss someone this much."
"Liz..." you whined, your cheeks heating at her words, "it wasn't even a full week."
"I know. Next time you're coming with me, no objections accepted."
"None needed." You smiled, kissing her softly, "I love you."
"I love you more sweetheart."
An Annual Thing
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Donnelly x fem!reader Warnings: language, minor alcohol consumption, we could say some hurt/comfort but it's very mild Cover the "bath together" square for @sweetprentiss bingo. Was also requested MOOOONTHS ago and has been sitting in my drafts for far too long. I don't know who requested it. also lil fun fact...everything mentioned about y/n's past birthdays have been real life experiences for me.....LOL
When November rolled around, Liz could already tell that you were tense, as if the month signified an anniversary of something tragic happening in your life. You started to avoid her phone calls and texts more, letting them go to voicemail, or go unanswered for hours rather than replying right away as you usually did. You’d only officially been together for a few weeks, and she didn’t want to push you if it was something you weren’t comfortable talking with her about. She did think that maybe it just had to do with the incoming winter, the days getting cooler, the high probability of snow and less hours of sun per day. Though you had mentioned that you were excited for Christmas, ready for the holidays and all the fun shenanigans that they brought with them, you’d especially warmed her heart when you mentioned you were incredibly happy to finally have someone to spend the holidays with, and that you were thankful it was her.
So she decided not to press it, giving you the space and time that you needed as you both went about your lives, working through the days until Friday rolled around. You met at your usual bistro in the city, settling into the booth after a gentle hello kiss that Elizabeth felt your lips smile into. There was the little bit of small talk as you caught up on your weeks before you placed your orders, talking about work and the other bullshit before Liz’s hand fell down onto the table, clasping yours in its grip. She waited for a natural pause in conversation before she addressed her thoughts.
“Sweetheart...is...everything alright?”
“I’m fine.” You smiled back, “just a little tired from work today.”
“I meant recently.” She urged gently, “I’m getting a feel from you that you don’t like November.”
You let out a soft sigh, playing with your carbonara as your gaze moved down, feeling your cheeks heat.
“You’re gonna think it’s stupid.” You mumbled, though you couldn’t help the smile as Liz squeezed at your hand gently.
“Sweetheart I hear much more stupid things all day at work, believe me.”
“I don’t like November.” You admitted with a small sigh, your fork twirling away on your plate, “and it’s not even like, a valid reason. I just
I hate my birthday
I feel like it’s just fucking cursed.”
“You know you have no reason to worry about getting older, right? It’s part of life, and from my experience, it gets better. I don’t need to remind you I’m nearly twenty years your senior, do I?”
She felt her insides wilt as the words left her lips, she’d always felt a little unsure about the age gap between the two of you. When you’d first started out, it had just been a casual sex relationship, both so busy and preoccupied with work that you didn’t have time for much else. She surprised herself when she developed feelings first, her usual confidence fading from her as she whispered into the darkness of her bedroom after your weekly session, wondering if you would like to have dinner with her that weekend. Her heart bloomed at the small giggle you let out in return, pressing a soft kiss to her skin as you assured her that you would love to. She usually tried to stick within her age range if she wanted things to progress into an actual relationship. She knew how demanding her career was, how much time she needed to spend at the office, and how she wasn’t always emotionally or physically available when her partners wanted her to be. It had affected her past relationships, especially when they were substantially younger than her, and she’d hated it. It always ended with her playing the villain, arguments about how she had a career to uphold and couldn’t constantly pamper and spoil her partners, and if that’s what they expected from her, they better head to the door, because she wasn’t some sugar mommy or parental figure to take care of them. They were adults, they needed to do it themselves.
Which is why she was so worried when she realized she’d fallen for you that you’d turn out to just be someone else she was turning away in a few months time. And why she had been worried when you had begun to act strangely, you were roughly at the same turning point when her previous relationships started to take a toll, when the ‘you’re not spending enough time with me.’ And then ‘you’ve cancelled the last three dates’, the ‘I wanted you to meet my friends this week
’. She hadn’t expected you to be upset about your birthday.
“Oh you certainly don’t need to remind me about your life experience.” You smirked across the table at her, squeezing at her hand and she chuckled at your innuendo.
“What do you mean by them being cursed?”
“Nothing good has ever happened on my birthday, or like, when I’m celebrating it.” You sighed, finally taking a bite of your dinner, “like
on my eighteenth birthday, my Mom forgot. And when I got to school one of my so called friends decided to prank me, convincing my other friends to pretend that they forgot and none of them wished me happy birthday until they came clean all ‘funny right?’. Mid twenties? I invited literally all my friends to a house party, fifty said they were coming on the e-vite, and only five showed up. I was so excited, I’d gone out and gotten myself an ice cream cake, a bunch of things to make a charcuterie board and other snacks. Then I remembered a couple of the girls were vegan so I made sure to pick up a bunch of alternative snacks for them, and they didn’t even show. One of my best friends was a five minute drive from my apartment, literally had to drive past it to get to his house but claimed he was too tired to stop in to even wish me happy birthday
” You huffed, sitting back in your chair as you tossed your fork down onto your plate, “I cried myself to sleep that night. At least the guys at the liquor store had been nice enough to give me a couple of free beers and a discount. And don’t even get me started on how my parents fought constantly at my childhood birthdays. Like..sure
they were both there which was great, but divorced couples sometimes just need to stay apart.”
“Sweetheart
” Liz genuinely felt her heart drop in her chest at the way you spoke, especially at the shimmer of tears in your eyes.
“Oh! And don’t forget about the pandemic birthday.” You rolled your eyes, pausing to suck back at your wine, “I lived in Brooklyn, we had a yard and a porch so it was like, safe to have everyone over outside. My partner at the time
.I was already over it, I knew it was ending months before it did and I wasn’t upset about it, but like, fuck
” you let out a groan, sipping more of your wine before you continued with your story, “things were fine at first, but then one of my friends started pushing if I loved her and like, I didn’t and I knew it. My girlfriend hadn’t been drinking since the shut down, and had been working out, eating healthy and the like, so her tolerance was way down. She’d had a bottle of wine and a giant beer, then ended up going on a liquor run with the sober friend who I tried to text to make sure she didn’t let her get anymore alcohol. The text didn’t get seen and she showed back up with an eight pack of beer and a bottle of whiskey. I think it’s needless to say that she got waaaaay too drunk that night. She ended up punching a mutual friend for basically no reason and stormed off into the night. The fight got broken up by my friend’s boyfriend and she then not only refused all calls and help from us that night but ghosted me for a month. So
yeah
. birthday’s fucking suck.”
“Jesus Christ.”
“Yeah
” you finally dug into your food again, “sorry
” you suddenly winced, “I didn’t mean to drag our date night down, and I don’t want you to think that it’s your fault, cause it’s not. I just
hate shit.”
“Well how about we change that?”
“Liz please.” You let out a watery laugh, “I told you, I’m cursed. My birthdays are cursed. No matter what you try to plan to make it magical? It’ll be blown to smithereens.”
“And what if I don’t actually plan anything? I just want you to have a good day on your birthday for once. You do realize you’ve never actually told me the date
”
“The twenty-second.” You grumbled, distracting yourself with your food. There was a reason you’d finally come clean to Liz about the entire thing, there were only three days left until your birthday, and two of them were workdays for her, she’d have no time to make any exuberant plans.
“I’ll mark my calendar.” She replied with a grin and you rolled your eyes, reaching for your wine.
*
The morning of the twenty-second, you had woken up to a text from Liz wishing you a happy birthday, and to ask you over to her place when you were done at work. Nothing more, no flowers or balloons delivered through the day, no instructions to make sure you were wearing something nice, just your presence required at her brownstone.
You figured that considering it was Friday, you would have ended up out with Liz, and this was going to be more lowkey than that, so it probably couldn’t hurt. You clocked out right on time, and today you were incredibly thankful for Liz’s car service considering you had a weekend bag on top of your regular work stuff. It didn’t take long to get over to her brownstone, ringing the bell to announce your arrival as you slipped through the doorway. Shoes and coat deposited in the appropriate racks; you were just dumping your larger bag on the entry way table when Liz rounding into the hall.
“There’s my favourite girl.” She greeted with a warm smile that you returned as she pulled you to her, hugging you gently and leaving a soft kiss on your lips. “Happy birthday.”
“Thanks.” You did your best not to avoid her gaze, but the blessing still felt somewhat weird and awkward all things considered.
“How was the day?”
“Meh.” You shrugged, letting her lead you deeper into the house, “no complaints aside from a bit too much of cleaning up other people’s messes.”
“Don’t I know all about that.” She teased back, “dinner should be ready in fifteen, would you like a glass of wine? Something stronger?”
“Wine sounds perfect.” You smiled, accepting the kiss she gave you with a happy hum before settling on the couch, watching her disappear into the kitchen. You let out a little sigh, relaxing deeper into the couch, happy so far that things were actually going good, and that Liz hadn’t backed out on her promise to keep things lowkey.
When she returned with your wine, you thanked her for it, pecking her cheek as she settled on the couch next to you, free arm extending over the back so that you were free to curl into her side if you wanted. You chatted a bit about your days, letting off the steam from your respected jobs while the tv played in the background quietly. You found yourself loosening up, laughing over a couple of her stories, rolling your eyes at the antics she managed to find her staff in on a daily basis. The timer went off, interrupting this part of your fun and Liz rose from the couch, pausing to kiss your head gently,
“I’ll take care of that; you just get your pretty little self to the dining room table.”
“Yes Ma’m.” You teased with a grin, picking up your wine and crossing through the space.
It was all open space, but the table was on the other side of a large archway, already set with two places and a simple candle burning in the center, nothing too exuberant. Liz returned a few moments later, placing two plates of food down and you were surprised with the lamb chops, double baked potato and array of veggies.
“You do remember that I said not to go all out, right?” you asked and she chuckled.
“Please. As much as I could have cooked this, it wouldn’t have been ready on time. I simply picked it up and tossed it into the oven, I promised to obey your wishes of a simple night. I just figure you deserve something a little nicer than a slice of pizza on your birthday. And if I remember correctly, you did say lamb was one of your favourites for special occasions?”
“Thank you.” You felt your cheeks heat at the attention she paid to you when you thought she was barely listening, gazing across at her with complete adoration you smiled brightly, “you really do know how to make a girl feel special.”
“I’ll always do my best for my girl.” She replied, squeezing at your hand before nudging at it in a signal for you to dig in.
Everything was absolutely delicious, even better than you imagined it could have been. You could tell that just because Liz didn’t actually cook it herself, that she had added a little bit of her own flair to each of the dishes that brought out their flavours even more, making everything absolutely delectable. After dinner she assured you that the dishes would be taken care of tomorrow, and you selected a bottle of champagne from the fridge to pop to go with the box of chocolates she had for dessert. You thought you’d be retiring to the living room, maybe lazing with some tv or a movie afterwards, but she instead guided you upstairs.
Liz kissed you softly, presenting you with a ribbon wrapped box on the bed, mentioning that you should get changed into that, and disappeared into the en suite. You were expecting lingerie, or perhaps a new toy or two for you to use that night. Instead, you found a cozy, yet still short and short sleeved robe inside, your head tilted in light confusion until you heard the bathwater start to run from the other room. Doing as she had asked you pulled off your clothes, thankful to be out of the constricting things you had to wear for work finally, tossing them on a chair in the corner and slipping into the robe. It smelt of Elizabeth’s perfume and you hummed in happiness at that right before she popped up in the doorway, clad in her own robe.
“I knew that colour would look wonderful on you.”
“You always do make the best shopping choices.” You praised and she chuckled, a hand reaching out to you.
“Come.”
When you entered the bathroom, you were hit with the glorious smell of lavender wafting from the steaming bath water, the surface coated in rose petals, various candles lit throughout the room.
“Liz
” you practically whined.
“I just figured you could use some relaxation after a long week at work.” She shrugged and you shot her a knowing look, although this was something she would probably do after a regular week, it was still something special for today, something for her to make you feel better on a day that usually made you feel like garbage. “Would you like me to stay? Or would you like some time alone.”
“Oh you are not getting out of here that easy!” you laughed, tugging her to you for a deep kiss as your arms wound around her shoulders, “you did all this for me
.I want you here with me.” You murmured against her lips before kissing her again.
“Alright.” She smiled, leaving a kiss on the tip of your nose, “well, get it.”
Nudging you towards the tub you let out a small giggle, dropping the robe to the floor and slipping beneath the water. You couldn’t help but let out the satisfied groan as you did so, nearly instantly relaxing, your eyes fluttering shut for a moment as you absorbed it all. You felt Liz lip into the tub behind you, her body gently encasing yours, pressing a kiss to your shoulder as she leant back against the porcelain and encouraged you to lean into her embrace. After a few moments of relaxed silence, you finally spoke,
“Thank you.”
“Anything for my girl.” She murmured back, kissing at your skin again, squeezing you tightly.
“I mean for like
everything
” you twisted in her arms, “most people blow me off when I say that I hate my birthday, like, how could I hate a day that’s ‘made for me’ or ‘all about me’. They just don’t get it. And you didn’t question it. Most of the time when people get like that, they plan something super insane and it ends up all going to hell. Or worse they think something like a surprise party will fix everything.” You let out a huff, rolling your eyes, thanking Liz when she passed you your wine. Her hand continued to rub up and down your arm, encouraging you to get whatever was on your mind out in the open, “but you
.you just made today a normal day.” Your head tilted as you surveyed her, adoration pouring from your eyes to her, “I mean maybe you treated me a little bit more than normal, but
.I guess what I’m trying to say is
.thank you. For not making a fuss out of nothing, it really means a lot to have a partner who actually understands what I’m trying to say.”
“So would you say your curse is finally broken?”
“Well
” you felt your cheeks heat as you ducked your gaze briefly, “they do say that true love’s kiss is the end to all curses, don’t they?” Elizabeth chuckled softly, her fingers curling under you chin to bring your lip to hers in a soft kiss.
“That’s a pretty roundabout way to tell me you love me sweetheart.”
“Well
. I do.” Your eyes flicked up to hers, not wanting to leave her lips yet, stealing another kiss, “today really solidified that.”
“For what it’s worth
. I love you too.”
Liz nuzzled against your skin for a moment, a small chuckle breaking free of her lips before she stole another kiss, prompting you to turn back around, settling under the water before it lost its warmth. The two of you stayed like that until the bath finally did cool, tangled in each other’s limbs, sharing happy stories and laughs, finishing off the bottle of wine.
Finally, you dragged yourselves back to the bedroom, Liz presenting you with another box that was filled with a cozy pajama set for you to change into. You easily slipped beneath the covers, nuzzling into her body as her arm wrapped around you, pressing gentle kisses into your skin that you returned. As you started to drift off, there were very quiet, but full of all the adoration, ‘I love you’s murmured into the room.
The Arrangement
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Donnelly x fem!reader Hinted Alex Cabot x fem!reader Warnings: language, talk of sex, alcohol consumption *not my images*
A gleam of sunlight was pouring directly across your face, making you scrunch your nose, rolling away from the sunbeam as you cracked open your eyes. The sun was setting in the horizon, casting a glorious glow over Liz’s room. You stretched your body out, relaxing the stiff muscles from Liz’s pleasure session and your curled up nap. She was nowhere to be seen, but the door was cracked open and she’d left a short purple satin robe for you draped over the edge of the bed.
Now that you weren’t heavily distracted you were able to take in your surroundings a little bit better. Two of the four walls were floor to ceiling windows over looking the Hudson River, curtains pulled off to the side but you were sure they must be blackout ones. The room was big enough for a small couch and a couple of chairs, a pile of books on the table in front of them. A sliding door was half open and you were sure it must’ve lead to a walk in closet. As you got your bearings you realized even if Liz had left the bed, she’d left you the robe, and that was a gesture that she was more than okay with you sticking around for a little bit longer.
Slipping it on you padded down the hall to the main area of the penthouse, finding her at the kitchen island, unsurprisingly with a pile of paperwork in front of her, clad in a pale pink robe that matched the one she’d left for you. She glanced up at the movement, a small smile on her face.
“You have a nice nap?”
“Lovely.” You smiled back at her, approaching the island, letting her weave an arm around you as she greeted you with a soft kiss, “you really wiped me out.”
“Mmm. You’re so good you deserved it. I’m sorry I left you, work called and I didn’t want to wake you yet.”
“S’okay.” You pressed a kiss to her cheek, “I know how much you want the bureau chief position, work hard now it’ll pay off later.”
“Exactly.” She pulled a bottle of rosĂ© out of the chiller on the island, “grab a glass if you’d like.” She gestured to the counter behind her where they were hanging in a rack. You swiftly grabbed one, handing it to her so she could pour you a glass.
“Thank you.”
After accepting the glass you took a sip, wandering your way through the open space, your fingers running over the back of the couch while you drank it all in. The kitchen was nearly the back of the house, a divider wall between it and a vast sitting room, another small wall cut that off on the other end into a smaller t.v room. It was all an open space in the main area but the walls helped give some privacy between rooms. Naturally the floor to ceiling windows were wrapped around the entire suite and there was a sizeable terrace accessible through a glass door. On the other side of the kitchen was a spacious dining room, and although you weren’t sure how many bedrooms the place had you remembered seeing more than a few extra doors on your journey down from Liz’s room.
You could almost feel Elizabeth’s eyes on you as you paused on your way back to the kitchen, the view out the window catching your eye. She was in fact, paying attention to you instead of her work, not that she could help it if she tried, the glow the sunset was reflecting off your face made you look simply angelic.
“You said this wasn’t all for you?” You called quietly through the space, glancing over your shoulder at her and she nodded. “Who all lives here?”
“It’s more of a who all has a long term room here.” She replied, setting down her pen. You took that cue as the start of a deeper conversation, moving back to the island you leant your elbows down on it across from her.
“Alright?”
“Myself, Mary, Casey and Alex all have rooms. There’s one for you too if you’re interested.”
The addition of you making it an odd number pulled a few questions to your brain. You hummed over another sip of wine.
“How does this all
.work?” You asked and Elizabeth chuckled softly.
“Thought you were one of the young ones, you have heard of polyamory, right?” She teased and you giggled.
“Yes.”
“I believe it all started as a sense for some companionship. Mary and I had some history back in the day, we still enjoy each other’s company but it’s more platonic now, a friendship type of love. When Casey started clerking for her she took a shining, she knew Casey could probably use some help, so after a few dinner dates they started up. Casey aims to please, and we have no qualms with sharing, we’re all open to each other, sometimes relationships stay purely sexual between some pairings, sometimes there’s more, and sometimes there’s nothing but friendship. Mary and I have the money to treat you girls, we figure why not make your lives a little more luxurious while we can.”
“Is now the time when you’re going to pull out an NDA for me to sign?” You quirked a brow and she laughed heartily.
“Sweetheart. I know we’re all lawyers, but we also trust each other. Obviously discretion is needed, while we are open with each other, we either appear solo or stick with a single date at multiple events to keep things looking ‘normal’ to the outside eye.”
“And everyone just lives here like a big happy gay family, or? ‘Cause I was at Casey’s apartment like a week ago and it certainly wasn’t this one.”
“Everyone still has their own space scattered throughout the city. Sometimes you just want a little bit of peace and quiet and things can get a little
hectic
here. If you choose to take the room, I’ll take care of the rent on your other place.”
“You really don’t have to do that.” Your cheeks heated as you ducked your gaze and Liz clucked her tongue.
“Nonsense. That’s part of the whole agreement, I get to spoil you as much as I want.”
“So was this a whole
like dinner conversation with you guys before Case invited me to lunch today?” Elizabeth chuckled again,
“You came up in a conversation with Casey, I couldn’t quite pin down if you were interested or just being polite. But she mentioned you’d let a few things slip over a few too many glasses of wine.” She smirked and you winced.
“Oh God
”
“Don’t worry, she didn’t go into detail
much
”
“Oh you were being so much nicer earlier.” You pouted and she laughed again.
“Oh I’m sure you can handle a little bit of teasing sweetheart.” Her eyes gleamed at you from across the island, “but yes, after Casey mentioned it, I brought it up to the others. Even though not everyone is involved in that sense, we still clear everything with each other, it helps keep everyone healthy and safe. And a happy environment in the penthouse.”
“So this
” you gestured between the two of you, “would be a relationship? Or just a sex thing?”
“I’m open to either.” Liz took a swig of her wine, “but you must remember that I’m not monogamous. There will be nights I spend with either Alex or Casey as well, but that doesn’t mean I care any less for you. And for what it’s worth, your name certainly piqued interest with the others as well.”
“Oh
” your brain scrambled to try and even think of what else to say at the thought of that.
“Mary’s at a spot now where she really only wants Casey, but she’s still in it for the companionship, and she is more than comfortable with Casey exploring. She likes to have someone to take to dinner, the theatre, someone to spoil when she gets bored. I’m sure she would enjoy having you around for some of that time, and I’m sure you wouldn’t mind a few extra shopping trips and nights out.”
“Sure wouldn’t.” You laughed lightly, taking another sip of wine as your brow scrunched. “Wait
how does Alex fit into all of this? I thought she was from the Upper East Side?”
“She is.” Liz chuckled again, “Alex is our little hummingbird, she regularly flits around from person to person, very fluid and open. Despite her cool demeanour at the office I can assure you she’s very sweet, and good at fitting many different roles.”
“So the house is a relationship of its own, I presume no outside dating or overnight visitors at my other apartment without clearing it first? And if there’s someone I’m interested in, I bring it up here before pursuing it further?”
“To a point.” She smiled softly, “saying yes to a couple of drinks or dinner is completely fine, it’s not as if you can dump this much information on someone before they really know you. We lucked out with you having a little bit of knowledge from Casey about the going ons here. But if you feel like you have feelings for someone and may want to bring them into the house, yes, it has to be agreed upon.”
“Okay.” You chewed on your lip for a second, “for lack of a better term, you and Mary
and sometimes Alex? Are sugar mommies for me and Casey?”
“Yes.” Elizabeth laughed, the grin reaching her eyes.
“Is there like, a rule about only bringing in other babies? Or
.?”
“Sweetheart if we let you and Casey bring in only babies we’d be running dry pretty quickly.” She teased, “you’re welcome to bring in people from either side. Though it is a house rule that if you’re going to get involved with a man, they don’t come into the penthouse, that stays at your other apartment.”
“Oh
you do not have to worry about that.”
“The main thing to remember is that non of this is monogamous. We all hold different levels of emotions toward each other, and there are multiple loving and sexual relationships between different people. We’ve had some jealousy issues in the past, which is why we’ve become more limited and selective when it comes to adding people to the house.”
“Understandable. And that’s fine,” you waved it off, taking another sip of wine, “I’ve never really liked the idea of settling down with one person, I mean, if you’ve got the love to share, why not share it? People change, they grow constantly, and sometimes you grow apart from each other but there’s still something there that you don’t want to let go of but something’s blossoming with someone else. And honestly, considering all of our long hours and work schedules, it makes sense to have a circle of love instead of just a one way street.”
“I’m glad we’re on the page.” Liz smiled, clinking your glass with hers.
“Okay, just one more question and then I’m done. Promise.”
“Alright?”
“I uh
had a similar situation with someone in the past. I did paralegal work for her attorney when she was still in the city, her marriage fell apart and one thing kinda just led to another. Her work brings her back to New York every so often and we still like to meet up. It’s usually last minute, and she doesn’t live here anymore so it’s not a permanent thing, but work keeps her more than busy enough that she’s not seeing anyone else.”
“You can keep your secret fling.” She chuckled, “just try not to ditch on any previously made plans, and stay safe.”
“Of course.” You assured her.
A ping from the elevator echoed through the penthouse, the sound of stilettos on the hardwood announcing another presence as your words softly rumbled on.
“See you roped her in.” Alex’s teasing voice broke into your conversation, pulling both of your gazes to the blonde as she moved into the kitchen, dropping her bag into one of the empty stools. Her hand fingered at the sleeve of the rope you were wearing, “and here I was thinking I was special getting the purple one.”
“Alexandra
.” Elizabeth scolded, “if you were ever actually in your room you’d notice I got you a new one weeks ago. The blue suits you better and you know it.”
“You and I both know how needy for cuddles Casey is, and her bed is comfier.” She shot back as she plucked a wine glass from the rack, pouring herself a glass of the rosĂ©, “Mary rarely stays here overnight, gotta give the poor girl what she needs or she gets whiny.” Alex turned back to you momentarily, “if you’re interested in going down that road I’d invest in some turtle necks, Casey’s a”—
“Biter
I know.” You half grumbled, suddenly gaining the attention of both of the other women, “oh come on. We were at Harvard together, give two lesbians a bottle of tequila and an empty dorm room, what do you think would happen?”
“That dynamic is curious to me.” Alex stepped closer to you and you swore your pulse skyrocketed, “because Casey can be such a little brat sometimes, but you
I bet you were such a good little girl.” She booped your nose with her finger and in that moment you would’ve done anything she’d asked you to. “Right?” Alex raised a brow, a smirk on her lips as she turned to Liz.
“Alex
give her some time to process all of this. She’s barely been awake a half hour.”
“Oh you didn’t torture her did you?”
“Oh quite the opposite.” You cut in, a small smile on your face.
“So are you moving in?” The younger woman asked.
“We
.hadn’t really gotten that far yet.” You glanced between the two of them.
“Well here’s what I’m thinking.” Elizabeth clasped her hands together, “the weekends are the best times to get a sense of what things are really like around here considering none of us are working. I can have a car take you back home in the morning to pick up everything you’d need for a week or so, and you’re more than welcome to spend the time here. Get comfortable in the space, adjust to what would be your room, spend time with whomever you would like to spend time with, whether that be casually, or sexually, or as Alex stated, as Casey’s needed cuddle buddy, whatever you’re comfortable with.”
“There is absolutely zero pressure.” Alex reassured you.
“Or take the weekend back at your apartment to think things over.” Liz gave your hand a squeeze, “it’s all up to you. If you do choose to stay, I will guarantee you my undivided attention as you get used to things. I brought you into this situation, and I want to make sure you’re comfortable and feeling safe, alright sweetheart?”
“I
will need to pick up a few things in the morning but I do like the sound of staying.” You smiled softly.
“Excellent.” Elizabeth smiled back at you.
“And in the meantime
honestly I can raid Casey’s closet and steal back everything she’s stolen from me over the years.”
“I will personally buy you some Prada if you make that fucking lime blazer disappear.” Alex groaned and you laughed.
“I’ll do what I can.”
“Anything else I should know?” You asked, almost timidly, suddenly more than aware of the two powerful women you were at the island with.
“Oh fuck.” Liz swore suddenly, “I can’t believe I forgot this, and all things considered it should’ve been mentioned earlier, but we were a little distracted.” She cast you a quick grin, “the safe word for the entire house is peach. We keep it the same with everyone to make sure no one forgets or gets things mixed up between partners.”
“Noted.” You nodded.
“Alright.” The older woman sighed, “I was about to call down for dinner when you came down, how do we feel about Italian?”
“Amazing.”
“Please.” Alex sighed, finally stepping out of her heels, “I need to go change though, probably shower.” She turned to leave, her gaze dragging up your body slowly with a smirk on her lips, “don’t suppose you’d be interested in joining me?”
“Alexandra!” Elizabeth scolded again, “let her adjust to the house before you’re attempting to seduce her please?!”
“Okay okay!” Alex was already halfway down the hallway as she scoffed off Liz’s words. You couldn’t help but feel your cheeks heat again at how persistent the blonde had been.
“Don’t let her scare you off
she’s insatiable.”
“Clearly.” You giggled over a sip of rosĂ©.
“Well
.come over here, help me pick out dinner.” She waved her arm from the other side of the island, encouraging you to scurry around it. Her arm wrapped around your waist as she guided you to lean into her shoulder, scrolling through choices for dinner as you made your suggestions and comments. When she pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, you realized just how happy you were in that moment. How happy you were that afternoon, it had been a long time since you had felt this desired, this taken care of and spoiled, it was beginning to settle into your brain that this not so little penthouse was exactly where you belonged.
For the Record?
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Donnelly X fem!reader Warnings: language, fluff. Part of Penthouse. Just a lil fluff drabble.
When Elizabeth returned to the penthouse she wasn’t surprised to find it mostly dark and quiet, it was later than she’d intended, and she’d stopped to drop off dry cleaning on the way home. There was a quiet rumble of the t.v, along with soft murmurings coming from Mary’s room and she assumed that’s where Casey had retired for the night. Stepping into her own room she found you curled half under the duvet, a book opened face down beside you. She smiled at the sight of you in her bed, doing her best to quietly strip out of her clothes and step into the shower. It was when she was pulling on a silky set of pyjamas that she heard you grumble, rolling over, muttering a small ‘ow’ when you rolled right onto the book.
“You’re home?” You sleepily greeted, smiling softly.
“Yes sweetheart. I’m sorry
I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“S’fine.” You pushed up to sitting, rubbing at your eyes with one hand while the other tossed the book off to the bedside table, “I didn’t mean to fall asleep. Wanted to surprise you. Just so tired.”
“Those girls didn’t torture you while I was gone, did they?” She asked, sliding into the bed next to you.
“No.” You nestled into her side as she wrapped an arm around you, briefly turning your head to accept the tender kiss. “Just up to my ass in motions.”
“Buchanan?”
“Yeah.”
“You need help with anything?”
“No.” You let out a soft sigh, “Alex helped me through it.”
“I heard that wasn’t the only thing she helped you through in my absence.” Liz smirked and you laughed softly.
“She certainly is something else.”
“She the one that took you shopping?” She fingered at the cute pyjama set you had on and you nodded against her shoulder.
“She’s got good taste.” You let out a small yawn and Liz kissed your head gently, her arm rubbing soothing at your skin, “still missed you though. How was the conference?”
“Dull. Remind me to take one of you with me next time.”
“Mmm
could always use a week away.” You murmured, wrapping your arms around her middle the best you could as you snuggled into her chest, your eyes fluttering shut. “Is it alright if we just cuddle tonight? I’m just so sleepy.” Liz snorted, her fingers coming up to softly play with your hair, unable to restrain the small smile on her face at just how adorable you were when you were tired.
“I don’t need to fuck every single night, lord knows only Casey has that kind of energy.”
“She just craves the intimacy, it reassures her.” You mumbled, “but I wanted to take care of you.”
“You can take care of me once you’ve taken care of yourself first sweetheart.” She pressed a kiss to your head, “make sure you’re not burnt out before you start worrying about someone else.”
“Okay.”
“How about we have a lazy day tomorrow? Order in brunch, stay in bed all day? I could use some quality time with my girl.”
“Mmm
I’d love that.” You yawned again, humming at the feeling of Elizabeth’s fingers cascading over your skin, “don’t you have to prep for that interview though?”
“It’s not ‘til Thursday sweetheart, I’ve got time.”
“You’re gonna nail it.”
“Thank you.” She smiled down at you, even if your eyes were still closed as you were speaking. “I do admit I am a little nervous.”
“Never would’ve thought Elizabeth Donnelly could even get nervous.” You teased and she scoffed as she smoothed your hair behind your ear, noticing the small grin on your cheeks. “Then again there’s a lot about you I never realized.”
“Care to share?”
“Honestly? I was terrified of you when I started, still was last year. But you’re actually so soft, when you care you care deeply. You can be incredibly gentle, understanding, kind, supportive. I never would’ve guessed you were so tender.”
“Mmm.” She hummed laying a kiss on the top of your head.
“And I
uh
I just really love
that.”
Elizabeth smiled fondly down at you, her thumb rubbing softly against your cheek, more than easily able to read through your words, knowing what you were getting at. Her hand reached out to the lamp, flicking it off before she shifted down fully under the covers, holding you softly in her arms.
“Me too.” She kissed your head, “now let’s get you some sleep, get you nice and rested up for tomorrow.”
“Thank you Mommy.” You yawned, burying yourself further into her body.
“And for the record?” She paused, leaving a kiss on the tip of your nose, “I love you too.”
You let out what she thought was an adorable giggle, your cheeks flushing as your eyes finally cracked open to see her gazing upon you in the soft light of the moon. You pressed up, stealing a kiss from her smiling lips, murmuring against them,
“I love you.”
