All I got is you
Eli Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: In which, they both got what they wanted for so long. Each other.
Warnings: pining, fluff,
Wordcount: 1.2k
Masterlist
The apartment was quiet only the clutter of the dishes in the sink keeping his thoughts from drifting too far away from reality. The bottle grew warm in his hands as Eli was sat on the couch, watching the dark screen of the TV. Soft music was playing in the background. Grounding him for a second in time before the morning would come again and the stress of the new album would return.
His eyes flew over the room. The dirty plates were cleaned and put away hours ago, when everyone was still around. They’d done it together. It was one of the first conversation they had that evening, besides the usual greetings.
It was a get together, a quiet evening, to find peace in all the chaos and catch up with old friends who were left behind the last couple of months because of the album. She had offered to stay a bit longer than the others to help him clean up and then he got a text from Bobby: ‘It’s your chance, man’
Sighing and throwing his head back at the thought of what this meant now, Eli let his eyes wander further. Her shoes were still messily thrown on the floor in front of the door. Footsteps came nearer and soon enough, she plopped down next top him. Right in the middle of his vision.
“You alright, rock star?” she asked, giggling slightly at his tired look and lulled back head.
“All’s good,” he answered, not looking away from her.
“What’s on your mind then?” The room went quiet and for a moment he thought that dying would be better than speaking in that moment. So much could go wrong, so much could fall apart. But Rob’s words still hung in his head and the other lads agreement were slow backing vocals he couldn’t get rid off.
‘She likes you too, man,’ Rob said on one late evening in the studio as they tried figuring out a section of a song.
‘How would you know?’
‘Talked to her the other night and well, she said, that you were way too cool for her. I guess that say enough.’
‘What you talking about?’ Ryan came in just as Eli was about to answer and dismiss Rob’s words. Sitting down next to them with fresh coffee in his hands, Josh carrying in the other two cups.
‘Eli fancies Y/n and he doesn’t want the possibility to be true that she likes him back,’ Rob answered, making Eli groan in frustration of his words. They were true, still haunting.
‘Oh, she definitely likes you,’ Josh cut into the conversation. ‘Why else would she willingly spent two months on tour with us?’
‘Because we’re all friends?’ Eli suggested.
‘Because she wants you to notice her as more than that,’ Ryan corrected him.
‘Think about it,’ they all said before going back to the song, but his mind was still stuck there.
He was still stuck in the same conversation as she sat down next to him, watching with curiosity of what was going through his head, when all he was thinking about was her. She wanted it to know too, when she couldn’t forget the way they laughed together earlier that evening and how he didn’t ask her to leave yet.
It had to be something, right?
It had to mean something more than boredom to him, right?
“Do you ever -” Eli started, looking away and down to his fingers. “Have you ever thought of doing the most stupid thing in your life that you hope you won’t regret?”
“How do you mean that?”
“Nothing, it’s stupid,” he pushed the question away.
“No, it’s not. What are you talking about?”
“What if one person is all I have in life but I don’t even know if I have that person fully?”
“You’re in love?” she guessed, averting her gaze from him now too. If he was to confess, she didn’t want to see his face while thinking about it. She couldn’t see the happiness in his eyes if it wasn’t because of her.
“I guess, yes. I just-” he swallowed hard like the words he wanted to say were ought to be put away, still they came tumbling out seconds later. “I can’t stop thinking about what life would be like if- if I got to call her more than a friend.”
“We’ve been friends for so long and I don’t think I’ve ever seen you like that before,” she joked, nudging his shoulder and trying to lighten the tension that hung between them.
“They say the prey is always the most oblivious.”
Silence.
He was met with nothing but silence and it seemed like they were back at the beginning. Back then, when she was too shy to talk to him properly and every time he tried to make conversation it wouldn’t last longer than a few sentences.
“What?”
“All I got is you and I don’t know what to think of it,” he said, turning to her. Cursing himself for trusting Rob when seeing the shocked look all over her face. “What do you think about it?”
“I’d call it old news,” she started, heart thumbing in her chest, “but I wouldn’t mind being called more than your friend.”
“Old news, huh?” He laughed, recalling the conversation once more, laughing at the version of him who was too afraid to admit anything to even his closest friends. “Well, new headline: What about I call you mine from now on?” Winking at the end of her sentence and cringing at his own words, but it came to his head and at that moment he wasn’t afraid of saying anything anymore.
Doubling over in response and laughing at his attempt of flirting like they were strangers in a bar, she couldn’t help herself but lean forward. Closer to him.
As out of instinct, Eli wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into his lap as he started laughing too. Holding her close and letting himself fall into the melody of her happiness. He couldn’t believe himself, but it worked better than he could’ve imagined. Because now, she was laying in his lap, looking up at him with the biggest smile he had ever seen directed towards him.
“I wouldn’t mind being yours,” she whispered, cradling his neck and pulling him down. Closer to her face, closer to her lips. Until they met and all fear was forgotten between them.
It was just them now, in an empty apartment late at night with the whole city asleep. Letting themself love the other uncontrollably for the first time in their lives. And neither planned on stopping anytime soon.
Definitely not when they pulled away and smiles spread on both their faces at just the other being so close. Her hands running through his hair, slightly tucking at the ends to make him notice her want for more. She wanted him and wanted her.
They were all they needed.

PERKS OF THE JOB
Elijah hewson x fem!reader
Summary : an interview leads to a phone call… and maybe more ? (I’m really bad at writing summary’s)
warnings : none ?
MASTERLIST
“I don’t think-”
“That’s correct y/n, you don’t think. I think and you interview.”
She blinked for a second as the middle aged man carried on walking ahead, looking down at her clipboard and letting her features drop as she looked back over the questions she’d been given to ask.
“Y/n ?”
The snap off her boss caused her to hurry up, trying to navigate the loose floor of the muddy festival in the heeled black knee high boots she’d been ordered to wear by the company’s stylist.
When she finally reached the cameras, without falling over somehow, she was created by the four musicians and her boss’s agitated expression.
“Guys, this is y/n. She’ll be the one interviewing you today. So the interview is for YouTube but it’s going to be published on a range of our socials.”
Y/n patted down her skirt before shaking everyone’s hands, leaving her clipboard on her chair for later on.
“Well I’ll leave you lot to get to know each other, if anyone needs me I’ll be at stage two with Alisha.”
Y/n gave a nod, allowing the older man to walk away whilst clocking the mocking face two of the camera operators where giving. She struggled to not laugh, a small smile on her face as she turned to the band.
“Hiya, so as Harry said I’m y/n, before we even turn the cameras on I’d just like to apologise for some of these questions, I literally begged him to change them but he’s refusing and I’d like to keep my job so if there’s anything you’d like for me to bring up in the interview please let me know so I can say I just swapped a few over for ones you all preferred. ”
Ryan gave a laugh, the other three following behind soon.
“What kind of questions are they if you’re apologising for them ?”
“Well let’s just say, from this sheet it looks like I’m interviewing U2. No offence Elijah but I usually like to make sure that the questions are targeted to each band member rather than just focusing on one.”
The brunette gave a laugh, sitting down on one of the seats like he’d been directed to do by another equipment operator.
“No offence taken.”
Y/n forced the blush off her face before sitting down as well, adjusting the pathetic excuse of s skirt that the wardrobes had gave her. Whoever designed this outfit had clearly never been to a festival.
The office buildings where dull, just like the basic black suits that all the male staff wore.
Y/n poured out the boiled water into the two mugs whilst Alisha carried on with her latest story on her latest obsession.
“Wait do you think I can get Harry to pay for my Rolling Stones tickets. I mean it is for work.”
She handed the light blue mug over to the excitable girl before nodding her head,
“I mean I did with my Leeds tickets, but I was interviewing people after . I’d still ask, worst he can say is no.”
“True, we’re too good at our jobs for him to even threaten to sack us girly.”
She blew a kiss before leaving to her office, the glamorous ‘periwinkle blue’ suit she’d recently bought. The other interviewer remained in the office kitchen, holding the hot cup in her hands to try and warm them up before she went back to typing up a manuscript to go alongside her last interview with an upcoming band.
When she finally worked up the willpower to go back to the typing, one of the new interns ran up to her with a mix of worry and confusion on his face.
“Urm, y/n ?”
She looked over from her laptop with a smile.
“Hiya Louis, what’s up ?”
“There’s someone asking for you on the phone, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do.”
“Oh yeah, did you take their name?”
Worry spread on his face before he shook his head.
“Ok, just put them through to my line.”
He gave a blink.
“Line 4?”
Another blink.
“Im avoiding this manuscript anyways, I’ll just come to the front desk Louis.”
It was almost as if he let out a held breath before she swizzled around all her half-projects and let him lead her to the phone that was being held. He left her to answer, moving the phone to the end of the desk so he could carry on with any clients waiting for the desk.
“Y/n Y/l/n, how can I help?”
“Hiya y/n, we just wanted to call and let you know we think you did an amazing job with that interview-”
Her eyes widened as towards the end of the sentence the strong Irish accent was pulled away and a crash echoed through the phone.
“Sorry about him, we don’t let him speak to the outside world for a reason. This is Eli by the way, in case you didn’t know.”
A faint “that hurt” could be heard from the other side and her lips curled up into a small smile.
“No it’s fine, I’m glad you liked the interview.”
“Yeah it was probably one of the best we’ve been in. I just wanted to check that you hadn’t been killed by your boss for changing those questions for us, but I couldn’t find a contact for you anywhere.”
“Oh yeah don’t worry about it, he was slightly annoyed but like Alisha says, we’re too good at our jobs for him to even threaten.”
He laughed slightly, Louis giving Y/n a confused look when he noticed her twirling the end of her hair with her finger.
“Good to know,”
He paused for a second, y/n unsure if she was supposed to speak again only for him to appear a moment later,
“Look I was wondering if there was any way I could contact you in the future, you know because we loved you interviewing us.”
“Are you asking for my number Mr Hewson ?”
The other side went quiet and y/n had to force herself to not laugh when all she could hear on the line was “mate you’re so bad at this.”
“Urm yeah? But in a professional context ?”
“Of course, of course. Don’t worry I’ll dm it to you on insta, it’ll be easier than trying to say it and messing up a million times.”
“Oh yeah, makes sense.”
“Okay, goodbye Eli.”
“Urm yeah, bye.”
“Let Robert know I said hi.”
The line cut just after she heard something being thrown.
Sometimes the job had its perks.

Brooklyn Baby
Josh Jenkinson x fem!oc synopsis: fem!oc is behind the scenes of an inhaler interview when Josh reveals their relationship to the public.
words: 300
a/n: this is a short blurb, a silly idea I had. I'm manifesting
Lights are set up, flashing the boys in the already bright room. A camera is set up on a tripod, capturing the best shot of the Irish lads for the interview. Dylan sits in the back of the cameras, watching a team of professionals bombard her boyfriend and his band with silly questions. Josh sits on the couch with Elijah, the other two lads taking a break from all the talking. “Favorite Lana Del Rey song?” Josh repeats the question. He moves the small handheld mic to Eli, “The one she did with A$AP maybe?” His hands casually brush through his greasy hair. Josh nods at his mate's answer. “My girlfriend is always listening to Brooklyn Baby, so maybe that?” He says nonchalantly.
Dylan quietly gasps at his response, catching his attention. They share a smile—her heartwarming at his thoughtfulness. She and Josh were never public with their relationship of six months. Both choose to remain private, only the people closest to them know about their love, and that’s all that matters. The room looks shocked at the public outing of his relationship. Josh never meant to out the relationship, but the words felt so right coming out, “his girlfriend.” He loves her wholeheartedly and wants to shout it from the rooftops. Plus, most fans were too concerned with the romantic doings of his other two mates to care.
Dylan smiles throughout the rest of the interview, it quickly wraps up and the interviewers pack up their equipment. Josh gets off the couch and approaches his girlfriend. “If you want, we can edit out the part about your girlfriend?” The interviewer asks, being conscious of the private relationship. Josh looks at his girlfriend, wrapping his arm around her waist. “No, that’s okay. Leave it in.” Josh reassures them. Dylan snakes her arms around his neck, kissing him on the cheek. “You’re the sweetest,” She says with a smile.

PERFECT STORM
pairing elijah hewson x fem! reader
trope established relationship
warnings pure fluff. nudity mentioned but not sexual
summary she gets caught in a storm and elijah helps her stay warm.
words 1.2k
Every part of her body was soaked. Her blouse had become see-through. Her skirt had become pounds heavier. Drops of water slid down her bare legs. Every time she walked, her Doc Martens squelched. Her socks were wet, and her feet were cold and pruny. She let out a shaky sigh as she walked up the stairs up to her apartment. Her soaked hair was in a clip that was digging into the back of her head.
He heard the sound of keys jangling. The door was unlocked. She came in and was already leaving a puddle of water on the wooden floor.
He chuckled. "What the fuck happened?" He asked, a bit amused but also concerned. He left his spot on the couch and walked over to her.
"I got caught in the rain. Didn't bring my umbrella."
"I told you to take an umbrella this morning."
"Yeah, whatever." She snapped. She dropped her bag on the floor. His mouth closed before making a snarky remark. She was obviously pretty annoyed. He watched her take off her boots.
"Come on." He said then took her hand and dragged her into the bathroom. He turned on the faucet of the tub. Temperature is pretty warm. "Sit." He commanded while motioning to the toilet cap. She did.
He pulled off her drenched socks. Then he unbuttoned her white blouse. He did everything tenderly. She kept staring at him. He looked tired. She knew he had been up very late writing. He took her bra off. Shame was no longer in the picture. He had seen her bare body many times. He wasn't even looking at her that way.
"You don't have to do this." She whispered to him. He finally looked her in the eyes as he pulled her up to take off her skirt. "I know." He replied, then unzipped her skirt. She felt warmth through her chest. That was in big contrast with the way her body felt. He always made her feel warm.
He helped her get out of her underwear. He also pulled her hair clip off and stuck his fingers through her scalp. He massaged her head, and she sighed. A moan escaped her, and he chuckled. Then he stuck the tips of his fingers in the water to check the temperature. It was a good type of warm now. He gave her a hand and helped her get in the tub. He caressed the top of her head.
"I'm going to go make you some tea. You're probably going to catch a cold." She was shivering slightly. Her nose was red, and she was sniffling. She nodded, and he stepped out of the bathroom.
He put the kettle on. He wasn't upset at her for snapping. Or the way she obviously was in a piss-poor mood. She tended to be a little moody. Whenever she ran out of patience or was annoyed at something, she was a bit intense. He never took it personal. It brought humor to him — which she hated. He usually got her to come around, though.
The kettle was taking forever. He heard the sound of the drain. Hopefully she was warmer now. She left the bathroom and went to their room. He messed with the settings of their stove. Increasing the heat. Her small frame came into the kitchen. Sweatpants, fuzzy socks, and a hoodie she stole from him on her body. He was leaning back on the counter facing her. She looked shy as she got closer. They didn't speak. She was ringing her hands. He grabbed one of her hands and pulled her into him. Her face nuzzled into his neck.
"Sorry, I snapped at you. She murmured into his skin. He scoffed, the sound vibrating through her body.
"That was nothing. It didn't bother me."
"Still. I don't like it when I'm mean to you."
"You're always mean. That's why I like you so much." He kissed her cheek, and she smiled. He looked down into her eyes lovingly. He could decipher anything she was feeling by looking at those gorgeous big green eyes of hers. "Are you warm? Your lips are still kind of blue."
"I'm good now." She nodded while looking up at him.
"Want me to warm them up?" He asked with a cheeky grin, and she chuckled. He pulled her in and placed his lips on hers. His lips were soft and warm against hers. She could taste the remnants of a cigarette in his mouth. He had probably had a smoke earlier. He cupped her face. Calloused hands against soft, cold cheeks. He slipped his tongue in her mouth, and she shivered. This time it wasn't from the cold. He tasted her. She was his favorite flavor. She hummed. His hands left her cheeks and settled them on her hips. Pulling her closer. He could do this forever. He ran his hands up her sides. The kettle whistled. It scared them both, and their lips separated with a smack.
"Shite." He cursed, then grabbed a handcloth and placed it over the handle. He poured the hot water into the two mugs. Her favorite mug. It read, 'Dibs on the lead singer.' His was a U2 mug with his dad's face plastered on it. It was a gag gift from her. He made both their teas how they liked it.
"Careful. It's hot." He warned before he passed the mug to her. She blew on the hot liquid. Smoke fanned her face. They moved to the couch and just sat there in comfort and silence. Elijah and her could always relax together. Especially when he's in vocal rest. She can tell what he wants without him even speaking.
He was being so sweet to her. It made her eyes burn. He wasn't looking at her, but she was looking at him. Sometimes when she looked at him, feelings would choke her. Sitting at her throat, waiting to be spilt. They had been dating for around 6 months. She hadn't said it yet. The word had always made her uncomfortable. She had warned him about it. He said it to her first. Sometimes he drops it in conversations.
Right now though. The words were at the tip of her tongue. Ready to stumble out.
"Eli..." She let out breathlessly. His head turned. He saw her expression. His brow raised in question. "What is it?"
"I..." She gulped. She didn't know why this was so difficult for her. She cursed. He sat up straight. He could tell her. He just knew. Taking a sip of his tea before speaking.
"You don't have to say it. I know."
"What?" Her mouth agape. Eyebrows furrowed. He couldn't possibly know what she was about to say.
"Oh, come on. Did you think I didn't know? I see it on your face every day." He chuckled at her face.
"See what on my face?"
"Love."
"Fuck off." She rolled her eyes. He laughed louder this time. She crawled towards him. He smirked at her.
"You're such a bloody eejit." She sat on his lap. A peck to her lips.
"That you love."
"Yeah, whatever, fucker. I love you." He smiled widely now. Almost giddy. His cheeks turned pink.
"Are you blushing?"
"Yeah, whatever. I love you more."

nepo baby eli x nepo baby reader... maybe?? please 🙏♡
Oooo omg I love this idea!!
Think I might make this into a little series if people enjoy this xxx

Honey Sweet, Pt.1 - Eli Hewson
Pt.1 Pt.2

Elijah Hewson x nepobaby!fem!reader
Summary: Even though you and Eli have been apart of each other’s lives for years due to your parents being friends, the two of you were never really close. But when both of your families decide to go on holidays together, things change between you…
Warnings: friends (kinda) to lovers, a slight amount of nepotism lol, and this is a bit short, sorry! The second part will be much longer hehehe.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the Bahamas. The sound of laughter and splashing water filled the air as families in the villas near by enjoyed their vacations.
You found yourself lounging on a beach chair, reading a book you picked up in the airport, the salty breeze tousling your hair, while the backdrop of both your and Eli’s parents joyous laughter echoed behind you.
Eli wasn’t far from you. He was sprawled out on a towel, AirPods in, seemingly lost in his own world.
The two of you had known each other since childhood, bound by the intertwined lives of your famous families. Bono and Ali Hewson being his parents while Jon Bon Jovi was your dad. Both legends in the rock side of the music business.
The two of you only ever really saw each other when his family visited New York or New Jersey, or the odd time your family would head over to Ireland. But whenever the time came to be faced with each other, the two of you were never overly excited to see each other.
You didn’t truly hated each other, but there had always been an invisible wall separating you—a mix of rivalry and indifference.
“Hey, Eli! You wanna go for a swim?” You called, surprising yourself with the offer. Eli looked up, pulling one AirPod out.
“Did you just ask me to join you for a swim?” He replied, a hint of skepticism in his tone.
“Maybe,” you smirked, trying to hide your own surprise. You were both in your 20s now, and perhaps this vacation was a chance to break down some of those walls.
With a slight shrug, he stood up, brushing sand off his legs. “Alright, let’s see if you can keep up.”
Before you could say anything he sprinted down to the sea front, and it became clear to you that he was instigating a race.
And there was no fucking way you were letting him win.
You sprinted up to him as fast as you possibly could, making it your business to get in the water first. From the looks of it, Eli wasn’t really quite the runner, but he did have a good amount of speed on his side.
Luckily for you though, you had years of track running working in your favour. And it showed when you splashed into the warm water first, Eli following only seconds later.
Laughter had replaced the awkward tension that had characterised your childhood and teenage interactions. You both emerged from under the surface of water with grins that mirrored the suns brightness.
“Not too shabby. You know, for a Nepo baby,” you teased, the two of you swimming side by side.
“Ha! Says you Ms. Bongiovo herself.” He quipped back with a smug grin on his face, making you smile.
“Yeah, yeah. You got me there. Forget sometimes I’m not in the position to pick on you for it.” You chuckled, splashing some water towards him.
The afternoon unfolded with playful banter and shared stories. You learned about the early days of when the band just started, his love for the craft that seemed to run deep in their family, obviously.
In return, you shared your own dreams, aspirations, and the weight of expectation that came to having a famous parent.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, you both found a quiet spot on the private beach you were so lucky to have just to yourselves, sitting on the warm sand.
“I have to say, I guess we never really gave each other a chance,” Eli spoke, his voice softer now.
“Yeah, I guess we didn’t,” you replied, looking out at the horizon. “But I’m glad we’re getting to know each other now.”
In that moment, something shifted between the two of you—an unspoken understanding and connection began to form. The laughter and teasing faded, replaced by a shared vulnerability that felt both new and exhilarating.
“Do you think we could be friends? Like, not half arsed friends because we’ve been forced to or anything. I mean actually be friends.” He asked, a shy smile creeping onto his face.
“Definitely,” you smiled back, feeling a warmth spreading in your chest. “It’d be my pleasure.”
The waves lapped gently at your feet, echoing a promise of something beautiful blooming between you two, a bond that had finally found its roots
As darkness enveloped the beach, you both sat together, talking under the stars before getting ready for dinner, the sound of the ocean weaving it’s magic around your new friendship.
But, something in your gut was telling you that there was more. More than just a friendship. And you’d make it your main priority of this trip to find out if your gut feeling is right or wrong.

Romance (Maybe it's a place) // Elijah Hewson X fem!Reader. PART 1
prompt: Eli is a vampire who falls in love with a human. The story explores the passage of time and the challenge of maintaining a relationship between two very different beings. It’s a guide on how to date a vampire/human while seeking a place of comfort in someone—and all the complexity that this longing brings.
words: 4K
(it'll probs 2 or 3 parts, it won't be long promise!)

There was nothing to expect, no prospects for the next day. Everything felt empty, his chest heavy, despite the absence of a beating heart. He wasn’t tired of the life he led; it was simply that so many years had passed, and he felt he’d experienced it all. Then, you showed up.
“Uh, she has this endearing look when she’s around me, like when you discover something new and know it’s going to be worth every moment. It’s still like that, even though we’ve been together for a while. I think I’ve gotten used to the idea that she knows who I am and isn’t afraid of me, even though I still watch my every move, thinking it might come to the surface one day. My point is, Josh, my human is kind and deserves a beautiful life. We’re not on the same page, but I can’t let her go.”
His voice cracked, eyes filling with tears, and he welcomed the feeling—it had been a long time since he’d felt anything like this. Over time, he’d grown numb to so many things. Josh sighed, understanding the weight of what Eli was going through but knowing there was little he could do.
“Eli, you’ll know what to do. You can agonize over it and delay all you want, but not making a decision right now is already making a decision.”
Josh had offered advice—he was a bit more adaptable to modern trends, though he knew how to use a phone just fine. He had tried getting Eli on board with it, considering up until recently, he still received letters, written as outdatedly as Eli sounded when he spoke on the phone. It was like he was composing his words with an old-world elegance, carefully phrasing each sentiment. But then you came along, and suddenly, he found himself adjusting to screens and adopting habits a bit more in tune with the present day.
Eli rubbed his face with a frustrated urge to shout. He had hoped his friend would offer a practical solution, but he knew this was the truth. Many of them had been through something similar. He knew what he wanted; he’d seen both paths before. And yet, he kept overthinking it, as if that would help somehow.
...
Eli chose heavier coats when he went out with you—usually something soft, like wool, more inviting to touch. “You alright, love?” His thick accent made you glance up at him. You couldn’t answer right away; all you wanted was to stay pressed against his chest, arms wrapped around his waist. There were no steady heartbeats to listen to, but his breathing—always at the same, calming rhythm—was comforting in its own way.
“Yes, El,” you murmured, slipping your hands into your own hoodie pockets. The cold air wasn’t helping. “You’re freezing,” he said, with a hint of guilt, the words lingering like it should’ve been obvious this would happen. But you didn’t mind. You chuckled; sometimes he was quick to worry. “I’ll go grab more blankets, alright, grumpy?” You didn’t want to downplay his concern but hoped to ease the way he saw it.
You took his face in your hands, kissing his naturally flushed cheek, then pressed closer, brushing a kiss to his lips. He savored the warmth eagerly, even though he could feel the chill in your fingers and nose—areas that must’ve ached from the cold. Embarrassed, he looked away for a moment, until you returned with more blankets. Wrapping yourself in one and placing another thick layer between you and him, it wasn’t ideal, but it worked; you could hold onto him, enough to count as a hug; proper physical contact.
He took in the scent of your hair, and it was enough—these little moments that reminded him you were his human, seeing every detail about him as a feature, never a threat (which was a little worrying, if he was honest). Eli held you close between the blankets, feeling a bit better.
“You know, El,” you said, turning your face to invite him in for a soft kiss, “your body temperature is going to be really useful in the summer. It’ll be nice.” He laughed, noticing your lips were warming up again.
...
Eli was waiting for your shift to end at the bar, his usual spot reserved with that easygoing smile. You'd started a weekend night job, one that fit around your studies, and he'd made it a point to pick you up every night so you wouldn't walk home alone. There he was, leather jacket, cigarette between his fingers, his hair charmingly tousled. He leaned on the bar, a soft, inviting smile playing on his lips as he ordered a drink. "You look beautiful." He tilted his head, letting the dim light catch his gaze as he took you in. You'd put in a little extra effort tonight – waves in your hair, a cinched dress under your apron, all for the quiet thrill of seeing Eli at the end of it.
"You too," you murmured, cheeks heating up as he let out a soft chuckle. His hand met yours briefly, the contrast in temperature catching you off guard, so he held onto them a little longer than usual. You slipped off your apron, glancing around to make sure everything was in order, and turned back to him. Eli rarely smiled fully-one of those open, toothy smiles. But whenever he did, you couldn't help but imagine those sharp canines showing, a detail he'd told you only appeared at his choosing. You had never seen them before, but fairy tales made you think it would be cute. Eli wasn't the tough type.
"And you're hot," he whispered with that thick accent, words lingering just long enough to leave you wanting more. You felt his cold hands at your waist, fingers resting lightly, and wrapped one hand in his hair, pulling just enough to get that quick intake of breath, followed by the softest sound that showed he liked you being a bit bold. "I like the dress," he murmured faster, hands resting on your hips as he nudged you back against the wall at the exit, his body pressed close against yours. It was quick, a thud against the wall that didn't hurt, but he caught himself, realizing you weren't quite like him. His apologies were soft, but you just whispered, "I like that, to be honest," which made his eyebrows raise in a mix of excitement and teasing.
The hem of your dress hitched a bit as he held you close, your pulse quickening against him, and the smirk on his lips only grew. Your eyes traced the freckles across his nose, his pink lips near yours, and it left you a bit breathless. "You're dying for me to kiss you, aren't you?" And you were. He cradled your face, pressing a kiss to your cheek, trailing down to your jaw. Your hands trailed up his arms, reaching his neck, pulling him closer. He nestled into the crook of your neck, his soft hair tickling your skin. "Missed me that much, El?" you asked before his eyes lifted to meet yours. He finally pressed his lips against yours, slow and deep, and you sighed into it, feeling everything melt away.
"I did. So much." His eyes had a soft gleam to them, a smile lingering, one that felt like it was just for you. Seeing your shaky breaths, he peppered your lips with little kisses until you settled, or at least got used to the fact that he wasn't about to stop. "Do... do your teeth ever show?" It slipped out before you could stop yourself. His eyes dropped for a second, awareness hitting him, and you instantly felt bad. "Sorry, you said I could ask."
"It's fine," he reassured you, fingers still gentle. His rings brushed your skin – a subtle reminder that he was there, by your side, despite whatever thoughts he kept to himself. "I won't bite you, okay?" His voice had a deep warmth, cautious but reassuring, and you let yourself believe him. He kissed you again, the same trail as before, from your cheek to your jaw, then this time letting his lips brush along your neck. You melted, fully aware of the way he held you. The kisses were soft and warm, pulling your eyes shut, and truthfully, you didn't fear much. Eli wasn't cruel, and you'd give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. You felt a faint graze, almost a scratch – it felt good. This was good. "I won't hurt you, little one." You'd talked about it before, those early questions you had about his predatory nature, and he'd told you he could handle it. He needed things but managed them.
"Maybe I'd like it if you did," you teased, part joke, part honest. He drew back, clearly content with all of it. "We should go. We're in public, miss." You groaned, laughing in playful protest.
...
The first time, you sent him a message saying you needed company, that you weren’t doing well. That way, he’d have the choice, the option to decide not to stay if he didn’t want to. But Eli called immediately—there was no time for your mind to spin into catastrophic scenarios. He briefly asked what was going on and if you needed anything (he didn’t even remember the names of medications anymore). It was clear he’d be spending the weekend by your side.
There was something about his presence that made you feel better, and knowing he’d be there in person filled you with a renewed sense of relief.
“I can turn my back, even if I’m in the
bathroom.” He said it so casually, and he was hard to read sometimes; every now and then, he seemed almost detached. You curled your toes, wrapped in a towel and seated on the edge of the toilet. He stood in the doorway, trying to figure out the best way to help. You needed a shower—your temperature was all over the place, and it would ease things a bit. But your feet ached at the slightest touch of the floor, and your shoulders were so heavy that you felt you’d collapse if you stood for too long.
“Can you?” Your voice came out low, soft, as if admitting just how much you needed him, even though you didn’t want to. Eli looked at you, and his expression softened as he came closer, kneeling down in front of you. His hands cupped your face, brushing your hair out of your eyes. You looked so tired, and instinctively, your cheek pressed into his palm, despite the chill of his skin against you. He pulled back, but you held his hand there, keeping him close.
“You know you shouldn’t wait ‘til things get worse before calling me, don’t you?” He spoke gently. You nodded, but dealing with this on your own was second nature; it was just how things had always been. Your eyes lingered on his tank top, the small star tattoo peeking out alongside his necklace, and a few scattered freckles across his shoulder. Your warm fingers traced over them, grazing those little dots softly. He smiled, and you looked up to see his eyes crinkling at the edges, that pointed nose and unruly curls, with a few locks twisted just perfectly.
He was beautiful, maybe that was why he wasn't human. Pale, rarely a fan of sunlight, but not repelled by daylight either. He didn’t sleep in a coffin or flinch at garlic; he’d answered all your questions, even if he felt uneasy talking about it. You often avoided asking too much. He needed blood but had assured you it wasn’t as dire as the movies made it seem—he didn’t hurt anyone, didn’t kill innocents.
You wrapped your arms around him, hugging him close. The intimacy of being wrapped only in a towel didn’t faze him; he was there just to help. “It’s chronic,” you admitted, barely holding back tears. “It’ll keep happening, and I don’t want to depend on you… but I’m just, uh, so tired.” He heard the strain in your voice, the soft sniffle, and drew you closer. His hands moved gently along your back as your cheek rested against his shoulder, forehead pressed to his neck. He kissed the top of your head, feeling a deep ache he hadn’t felt in years. For a fleeting moment, he felt the exhaustion you bore—aching shoulders, tired eyes, a sudden warmth creeping into his skin.
He couldn’t take this from you, but he’d stay with you as long as you allowed. “Well, then, I’ll be here with you more often, and as often as you need,” he said, and you simply held him a little tighter, eyes meeting his. He noticed the subtle dark rings beneath them, a telltale human weariness he found beautiful, something unique to you. Morning puffiness, the way your scent changed with the seasons—these little shifts only added to your charm in his eyes.
Feeling a bit lighter, you were ready to try standing. “I won’t look, I promise, love,” he murmured, and you knew he wouldn’t. Slowly, you stepped into the shower, letting the water pour over you, hoping the fever would slip away down the drain. Through the steam, you could just make out his silhouette, back turned, his posture more relaxed with you nearby. You’d seen him tense up in public around you, but you understood.
He didn’t look, not even once. When you were done, you let him know, narrating as you dried off and dressed. When you finally said you were ready, he turned around with a soft smile, placed a gentle hand on your waist, and kissed your forehead. Then he led you out, guiding you with a steady grip.
Lying on your back, you stared up at the ceiling while he lay beside you, careful not to touch, as if he knew it might not be what you needed right now. The bed felt small with him so close. You took his hand and guided it to rest at the crook of your neck and shoulder. “The feeling of warmth happens when the fever reaches the new set point the body establishes. At that moment, blood vessels dilate to release heat, and you start sweating to cool the body down.” Your words came out so precise, almost like a textbook. Eli smiled, clearly thinking you’d looked it up somewhere for him. Still, your temperature was finally stabilizing, and his natural coolness seemed to help. “Do you still feel any pain?” he asked, his eyes growing heavy, yet relieved to see you were getting better.
“Just a little, I’m much better now. You’re like an angel,” you murmured, watching his nose wrinkle slightly. You found it curious how he felt emotions without any functional organs. His body didn’t give him trouble; he was visually healthy, able to just… live. You weren’t sure if you wanted to be like him, but something about it felt unfair. Silence settled over you both, and he turned on his side, his deep, amber eyes holding yours, drawing you in.
“Can you turn people? Just anyone?” The question tumbled out suddenly, genuine, raw. He looked away, as if bracing himself. This was bound to come up, sooner or later. “It’s like when you asked if I’d move away when you leave for college because, otherwise, I might not be here anymore,” you added, trying to ease the weight of your question. You were getting to know him better.
He nodded slowly, knowing he’d answer you honestly if you asked for it. If you wanted, he’d let you be like him. “I can,” he whispered, keeping it brief, not wanting to linger on the subject.
You hesitated, taking in the idea. He knew how much you suffered from chronic pain, how sometimes you just wanted relief, independence. And while he wouldn’t think twice about offering you this existence if you wanted it, he couldn’t shake a selfish feeling—the thought that, in giving you this choice, he’d be binding you to him and trapping you in your current form for eternity. Even so, he’d never refuse to help you if you needed him.
“So… it’s just a bite? And that’s it?” you asked, curiosity shining in your eyes without a trace of fear.
“Biting’s just for blood,” he clarified, his voice softening as he took a deep breath. “To turn someone, it takes a witness and making sure the person won't die, y’know?” He sighed, and you noticed, arching a brow.
“I thought you didn’t feel tired,” you teased, sensing his discomfort and wanting to lighten the moment.
“I don’t,” he said, brushing off the feeling with a small lie. You let it go, realizing you were also getting sleepy, even though he didn’t need sleep the way you did.
He’d once told you he’d been at this for around 300 years, adapting quickly but feeling his enthusiasm fade with time. He didn’t even remember who’d turned him, just that he’d woken one night alone, with the pain of transformation, figuring everything out by himself. That always made you think about your own fear of being alone, especially when pain flared up and made you feel trapped to someone.
“Can you… have kids?” you asked softly, eyes tracing the constellation of freckles on his nose.
“No,” he replied simply.
“I was going to say I’d have your kids if I knew they’d inherit that nose and those freckles, but I didn’t want to offend you or anything.” He chuckled, that familiar, comforting nasal laugh. Eli felt pain, but holding you like this made it melt away. He’d met thousands of people over the years, but you were the one who made him want his world to keep turning.
“Do you want kids?” he asked.
“No,” you said without hesitation. “I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this just because of some unlucky genes.” He looked at you, an emotion in his eyes that made you wonder if he’d learned to mimic human reactions, replicating them when needed, though Eli had never done that with you.
“Would you have wanted them? If you were still… you know,” you asked.
He wrapped you both in the blanket, creating a cocoon. The light smell of cigarettes and mint gum surrounded you. His curls tickled your face, and you reached out to touch his lips with your fingers as he spoke, feeling the faint movement of his mouth. “I don’t know. I never thought about it when I was human, and now it doesn’t make much sense. Maybe I’d be happy, maybe I’d be sad if I’d had kids in a life that isn’t mine anymore. But I’ve stopped dwelling on what I can’t control.”
He said it with a calm acceptance that made you wonder just how long one had to live to reach that kind of peace. You liked living in the moment, but only when it was good. And you understood that Eli wasn’t always okay; he just knew how to deal with what life had given him.
“You don’t see a future with me, do you?” you whispered, voice thick with unshed tears. His arms tightened around you, but his silence broke something in you. Still, you reminded yourself to cherish the present because, as much as it hurt, you understood the complexities of it all.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured, his words soft and full of regret.
...
“Dear Jenkinson, this will be a brief update, yet a necessary one. I’ve bought a cellphone and shall be more present. I still prefer to avoid the daylight; perhaps it’s simply the desire to remain unseen. I enjoy a quiet life—or at least, that’s what I believed. Recently, I’ve noticed a girl at the café near my house, yes, the same place here in Dublin. She comes around midday, doing something on her little black screen, though that detail hardly matters. I simply like knowing she’s there, and that she’ll likely be there tomorrow. I don’t speak to her, and I don’t imagine I will. Is it wrong for me to want to be near her but not seen with her? I mean her no harm, yet my human bears little resemblance to me. I write to you in confidence, as I suspect you’ll advise me to approach her. In any case, it’s a curious feeling, waking with this small excitement, the uncertainty and hope that she’ll be there, sitting in her usual spot.”
You scanned the first letter; they were all unsealed, unhurried in their elegance, as if they weren’t truly hidden from you—yet he kept them private all the same. You didn’t recognize the name, “Jenkinson,” but something in the writing made you imagine an old friend of his. Strange that you hadn’t heard of any friends. He knew all about your life, perhaps because you were far more open than he was. A pang of guilt hit you for reading his words. You’d picked them up from the mailbox by accident, and now you’d leave them where you found them, pretending you hadn’t seen any. Still, a gnawing question lingered in your mind. Eli cared for you, and you’d told yourself you were fine with this arrangement, just living in the moment—but you wanted something more, didn’t you? Eli seemed so sure of what he wanted from the beginning. You’d hoped maybe he’d change, but could you truly resent him? He wrote such beautiful things about you, didn’t he?
Your pulse quickened as you ran your fingers over the heavy paper, catching another letter. “Dear Jenkinson, I had forgotten that humans suffer, not just from their own mental wanderings like us, but from very real, very physical pain. My human has a condition that keeps her days limited, wrapped in intense pain. I’ve been there for her, and you’ll understand the significance of that, won’t you? It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything like this. Anyway, she’s full of a light-heartedness you’d never picture me having. She deserves so much more, you’d like her, but I don’t intend for things to reach that point—” You felt a sting behind your eyes, frustration and a sense of discomfort flaring up. How could he be so dense, filling these white spaces with beautiful words about you while being so unthinking about the future? After all, he’d have a future, regardless of what happened. His nature was certain that there was a tomorrow.
“Dear Jenkinson, I would never hurt her, truly, nor do I feel any inclination to do so, yet there’s something in her calm, gentle scent, and the eyes that makes me wonder what it would be like to bite her. Am I a bad person for thinking this? I know what it’s like—the taste and the quiet satisfaction when it’s with someone we truly appreciate. I don’t think of it as feeding, but rather as a form of cultivation.”
It was sweet, kind of sexy, in its way, yet left you with a hollow ache. Eli had a life, a very long one, yet he’d never shared any of it with you—not his past loves, this friend, or why, of all places, he still stayed in Dublin. You wanted all of him, but a part of him wasn’t there to be yours, was it? The letters lacked dates, having only found their way back to him. Why were you committing yourself to something that felt like it had an expiration date?

written for this request
wraps her lips round the mexican coke, makes you wish that you were the bottle
you're such a fan fav.
like whenever you're at inhaler gigs they're almost more excited to take pictures with you than with the band
if you work in the limelight as well (singer, model, actress, etc) his fanbase is your fanbase.
pictures of you and elijah (and just you) are very common profile pics for inhaler twt and tiktok
he's very aware that he's the arm candy in the relationship
he can't complain tho, he gets it
obsessed bf, pretty gf dynamic
goes without saying that you've got more than a few songs written about you
if you're irish (self projecting) you would be freaking out with him and the lads over them playing in slane (and for opening hslot ofc)
in famous!reader headcanons i always see "his insta is a fanpage for you" and i raise you one, your insta is a fanpage for HIM!!
litch whenever an album drops, it's on the story and in a post. they announced tour dates? posted. they're opening for someone? posted. they fall asleep on your couch after a show? posted. you see a cute fan edit? saved, commented, and posted.
you're visibly down bad for him
BUT DONT WORRY hes visibly down bad for you too
if you're a singer, people are getting videos of him with the biggest heart eyes chilling in the vip section
if you're an actress, pictures of him staring at you on the red carpet or during interviews haunt the rockstar gf pinterest girlies
if you're a model you better believe that there has never been a show of yours when everyone can see him smiling in the front row
your little fanboy <3

he doesn't really fuck with spooning but will always rest easier if your head is on his chest and his arm is around you
i feel like if you're a very excitable person (self projecting again) he's such a listener
like you could be rambling about the most random thing in the world, and he'll just sit there nodding with a cute little smile on his face
he'd be great to gossip with, i think, but that might just be the irish in him
it's pretty much mandatory that you get on well with the rest of the bad bcs if you're not busy yourself, eli is dragging you on tour with them
if you were in the industry longer than them i feel like you'd all have some really good chats

they all appreciate having you around even if ye take the piss out of each other 24/7
it's loving banter <3
you'd get mentioned in interviews a few times
never by name tho
because eli's so private and doesn't want to end up with the bands success being attributed to you he'd never be like "oh, y/n said this, y/n said that"
instead he'd be like "oh, yeah my girlfriend's been here before so she's been telling us where to go and all"
if the others ever brought you up it'd be to take the piss out of eli
"yeah his girlfriend had to drag him out the bus this morning" "he wouldn't shut up till we brought his girlfriend over" stuff like that
you and eli would have some proper deep chats i feel
he trusts you so much
each others ride or dies fr
fans hope you get married
he does too
overall, any comment section under a pic of the two of you is filled with people crediting ye for their bisexuality xx

Dumb & Poetic (Eli Hewson)
Elijah Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: in which, the one time where she walks away it finally ends.
Warnings: swearing, angst (can't seem to write anything happy, sorry), mentions of manipulation and a toxic relationship,
Wordcount: 1k
Masterlist, Short n'Sweet Series

Musicians. The one species no one could ever truly identify, neither understand. Especially when they were so convinced about being the best, and god was he one of them. The touring. Music. Aesthetic. It made her settle for less than what she wanted.
Drunk kisses and broken promises seemed less hurtful after another poem with her as the muse. Little love confessions between lyrics and longing glances that he sent her way when he was performing on stage. She met his family and she met his friends. She met who was important to him and on the sleepless nights, she understood that she was never one of them. She was the distraction he kept by his side to not break down. Taking up every corner of her mind to occupy her whenever.
Being his - even when it was only for a split second - it was all what she wished for and all she hated. She wanted to be something to someone. But leaving her sanity behind for it wasn’t the plan. Leaving an empty bed in the morning because he came home late and gone early wasn’t what she was hoping for.
She knew she should be long gone from Ireland, gone back home and into the arms of her friends to make her feel better about herself after he fucked her mind up one too many times. She knew she should be long gone, still she found herself buying the last tickets the night before. She found herself wanting to see him one last time before she finally took her belongings from this god damn city and leave it for once and for all.
On the stage, the lights were making him look like a god. The way the people in the crowd would scream for him, it made him excited. It made him feel alive. She could see it in his face as he looked at them, when he looked at the other lads. This was what he wanted.
He had told her about it hundreds of times, always dreaming of becoming the big rock star he was born to be. The one people told him he would never be after hearing their early days and shitty Nirvana Covers. But he was convinced that he could make it. And he did.
Now, in the back of the club, it felt different. She was now part of the crowd, the one he adored, but she wasn’t part of those he loved. Not truly. She couldn’t understand why, but she never understood him in the way a lover was supposed to.
Still she couldn’t stop herself from drifting towards another future they might could’ve had. One where he actually was the man and didn’t just act like one. One where they could’ve been happy and where he tried to understand how she was feeling about his actions.
But now, how he stood there, talking about loss like he knew what it meant, it wasn’t fair. For months, she was the one holding him sane and for weeks she was the reason for why he seemed miserable. Running from whatever could remind him of them.
She bet that another one was already waiting for him behind the curtain, someone he would pout at to not walk out of the door. Someone he would tell how understanding he was, that he knew how she was feeling. But truly this was what was on his mind. Nothing else. All for the music, right? That was what mattered.
She saw it in his eyes when he caught her gaze. She was sure he couldn’t see her, still his eyes were focused on her silhouette for longer than anything else. A glimmer of something like regret lingering in his eyes. A feeling of nausea overcoming them both in the moment.
It only broke apart when Bobby walked over to him, nudging him and making him come back to reality. He said he was alright, still his eyes flew back to her the moment Bobby let it go. But she was gone. Like she had never existed. But he knew she was there, he felt it. The stage lights made it hard to see, but he knew her. He knew when she was near.
The door to the club opened, letting a bit of light through and swallowing her body whole after it closed. She was gone and he knew that it was his fault. She was finally gone and he was sure no amount of self-help books could help him now that she was gone.
He read them all, but he couldn’t remember one helpful thing from them now that he needed it.
The rain outside was pouring down on her and reminding her of all the tears she shed for him. All the arguments she blamed on herself after never understanding the reason why they were fighting in the first place.
Her boots were making sounds on the pavement, her hands were furiously wiping away the falling tears on her face. He was the one who left, so why did she still feel guilty about how it ended? It was only him and his facade that made it all crumble.
Part of her wanted him to follow her, to tell her that he was a dumb idiot for letting her go. That he regretted it all and that he could never love anyone like her. But he never came back, he only ever left. She knew he would never come back with every step she took further away from him, feeling nothing but free now. Even when the burden of his love would weight her down for a bit longer than she hoped for, this was the first thing they’d both done right in the relationship. Leaving was sometimes better than holding on to something so dumb, no matter how poetic it might seem.

Lighting up my heart
Eli Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: based on this
Or, where Eli helps her light a cigarette
Warnings: mentions of smoking, pining, mentions of smoking as a way to cope with stress and anxiety,
Masterlist, Inhaler Masterlist
The night was already growing cold as they made their way back towards the hotel they stayed in for the time. It was only one night until they would be on their way to the next destination again, like most days, but the warmth of the sun from a few hours ago was enough to make them eat out.
Trailing behind the group, Eli with his hands shoved in his pockets, could clearly see the way she'd been anxiously looking around as they ate dinner and bit her lip whenever someone was growing too loud with their voice. It happened often on tour. Usually she would step out, take a breath and go back inside.
But tonight everyone was talking and there was no room to step out between questions and memories. So she stayed put in her place next to him, fingers drumming against the wooden table and a few drinks more than usual.
"You alright?" He asked gently, tucking out a cigarette from the pack hidden away in his jacket pocket and putting it between his lips.
"As good as stressful can be," she answered unamused, still lettimg out a dry laugh.
Her eyes trailing after his fingers as they pulled out a lighter, lighting his cigarette. His face being illuminated by the flame, itching out his features in a defined version of the usual sight she admired.
His jaw seemed sharper, his eyes darker. And when he caught her looking at his lips, the smile that pulled itself up on them seemed sweeter than the usual he'd give out.
"What d'you want, love?" He asked, taking a drag, letting the ashes flicker to the ground afterwards. The smoke pulling out of his mouth into the night air.
"You've got a free one for me?" She asked, surprising him quite a bit.
"Didn't know yer smoked," Eli answered, pulling one out for her nonetheless. Handing it over and watching her like she watched him before.
"Just when I get really overwhelmed," she explained. Their fingers brushing as she took the cigarette from his warm hands. "Not a lot of the time then."
"Just enough to not cough anymore, huh?" Eli asked, flicking the lighter on and off between his fingers.
With the cigarette between her lips, her eyebrows rose in question. Eyes fixated on him.
Stopping on his way down the street, he knew her question, he could see it as she anxiously dangled the cig between her lips.
Moving his head to the side, signaling her to moce closer, he held the lighter higher up. Keeping it on the level of her lips.
Stepping closer, she let him do the first move. Pressing down the cheap to make the flame appear. Holding his hand over the side of her cigarette to keep the flame alive and safe from the wind, he didn’t look up. Not at her eyes or the flame. Fixated on her lips. The way they slightly pursed as she felt him move closer, like she wanted them somewhere she shouldn’t.
Somewhere they both shouldn’t think about going. Somewhere beyond friendship.
Stepping back at the thought, the lighter still burning in his hands, he made the flame disappear. Looking away to not see the fire still glowing in between her fingers.
"Thanks."
"Don't worry."
And then they were on their way again, catching up with the others' fast steps. Her flicking the ashes to the ground and him burning his fingers over the flame in his pocket.

Uh oh, I'm falling in love again
Eli Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: when Eli is gone for tour, something about her feelings starts changing.
Warnings: angst, bit of fluff at the end
Wordcount: 1.5k
Masterlist, Inhaler Masterlist
It started slow. A growing flower blooming in his absence. At first it were just little moments of freedom she hadn’t had the chance of taking before. Going out at ridiculous times to buy snacks, watching a movie on repeat for three days without feeling guilty about it. Getting a coffee on the way home because she had time.
Time. The thing that changed the most. There was no rumbling in the middle of the night anymore after another late night in the studio. No sleepless nights she had because he wasn’t by her side, rather sitting in the living room, playing and writing and singing. She had nowhere to be but her own destinations.
The studio wasn’t a second home to her. It wasn't somewhere she’d spent time she could use differently. No loud parties occured on days she wanted to lay tangled up in bed. There were no obligations but those she was responsible for on her own.
And when she laid in bed late at night, just having hung up the phone with him on the other side, she noticed it.
He started feeling like an obligation. Their love felt like an obligation she didn’t want to be responsible for anymore.
It didn't feel wrong to be away from him.
When she cut the threat between them, it was even slower. Regular morning messages became unanswered. His calls were ignored by an, 'Sorry, I'm out. Call you back later x.' And an 'Got back home late yesterday, you were probably already asleep. Didn’t want to wake you' in the morning when she didn’t call.
He was planning on going to sleep, every night when she said she would call, still his eyes were drained on where his phone laid in the dark till also that disappeared. He could see it clearly. She wouldn’t call.
Without further explanation, they stopped being one.
It happened out of the blue, a web weaved through their day to day life that finally snapped. Tearing their two worlds apart, making each one their own again.
The lads asked, how she was doing, when she would come to a gig and when he didn’t answer anymore with that big goofy smile on his face like he used to at the mention of her name, they stopped asking. Sensing the mess their friend found himself in.
Consoling words were of no use to him. Not when he still had no idea why. Why did it happen? What made her do it? Was it something he did? Something on stage that made her doubt his loyalty?
It was none of that. He knew that. She would've talked with him about it if it was something about him she was upset about.
And she never called, so he supposed she wasn’t upset about how they ended.
She wasn’t. At first.
The first two months the best she had. There were endless nights she spent out and about. Dancing with friends, flirting with strangers to get a free drink. It was fine. She was fine.
But one lonely night of reality and tears of guilt fell down her face like raindrops in a thunderstorm. Her heart imitading the thunder.
'Guess who I am? Your misery,' it whispered into her ear. The storm narrowing towards her. Destroying the house they build, the one she lived in alone now.
Eli was out of it, leaving as soon as he noticed she wouldn’t come back.
And her phone begged her to call him, tell him that she was sorry and stupid and wrong for doing what she did. But pride got the better side of her, embarrassement that he wouldn’t forgive her. Fear that he didn’t want her back and was grateful that she was gone from his mind.
He could focus on music solely now. She wasn't on his mind anymore, taking up unnecessary space.
It was better this way.
"You have to talk with her," Ryan said, sitting down next to Eli in their space backstage. The 'Inhaler Playlist' playing on full volume in the other room.
"It's a shit show, whatever you're going through, honestly," Bobby chimed in from across him.
"It's not that easy," Eli tried insisting on the excuse he'd tried selling them countless times already.
"We're going back home in a week," Josh noticed. "If you’re still hung up over her, call her. Ask her to meet up and talk it out."
"I don't think I can face her." Running his hands down his face, Eli groaned. "I'll make a fool out of myself."
"But maybe you'll have conclusion then."
The thing he needed the most. An answer to his question.
So when his feet were back on steady ground and New York City was just in front of his eyes, he texted her.
'I know you will say no, but can we maybe meet up? Just to talk about what happened.'
And another one right behind it.
'I just want to understand.'
Reading the texts, she could hear his voice saying them to her. Strained and rougher from singing on tour.
The image of it made her eyes tear up. If she couldn’t even handle the made up version of him, how was she supposed to face him?
Still she found herself in their favourite little cafe two days later. Fingers anxiously tapping against her mug. Eyes following every person outside the window and trying to catch him. She was so focused that she didn’t notice him walking in until he took the seat opposite her.
His voice snapping her out of her trace.
"Hey."
It was as simple as that.
One word was what it took to break her.
His voice was strained and rough like she thought it would be. But it was quieter too, like he was afraid to speak in front of her. It made her want to throw up.
They swore to always tell each other the truth under the stars in LA one night. Now he couldn't even look into her eyes as she answered.
"Hey."
The silence between them stretching like the dreams they had. Ever evolving. Until one broke.
"Why?" Eli asked, making her look at him fully for the first time in three months. After one word, his heart felt lighter. It felt easier to talk then. So he kept going. "I mean, what did I do for you to stop talking to me? We were good, weren’t we? Did I miss something?"
"You weren’t there," she simply answered. His brows knit together, exhaustion falling into his eyes. "And I didn’t feel bad about it. I thought that it should be that way, us on different paths. And it felt right at first, being on my own. But I just kept going back to what we had and who we were and I just- God, I don’t think I've ever felt more stupid."
"I never imagined a life without you, so when it came I took it and explored it and I wasn't sad that you were gone. It just felt like I was meant to be on my own," she continued, picking at her nails, tearing away the skin on her fingers as he started understanding what she was saying.
"You don't love me anymore?"
The words - the way his voice broke just the slightest, like he tried to act tougher than he was - cur right through her. Slicing open her heart and making it bleed out of her eyes.
"I thought," she said, covering her mouth as a sob fell with her words. "I thought that love was meant to be depending on the other, that being together was what was important."
Wiping her tears with the sleeve of what he now noticed was his sweater, she contiuned, voice slightly wavering. "I couldn’t imagine that love was also feeling okay when the other was away. That that security you felt wasn’t just a sign of freedom but also trust.
"I had no idea what love was until I met you and when you went away, I felt how much it could hurt when you were gone."
Eli looked at her. He truly looked at her. Not just the tear streaks down her face, but the shaking fingers she tried holding still. He could see the regret in her eyes. The fear that this was it.
"I don't blame you if you never wanna hear from me again, I totally deserve that," she said, taking his silence as an answer to the unanswere question that laid between them. "But if you think that you could still love me, even when I'm a total mess when it comes to feelings, I want you to know that I will be better. I will talk with you about everything going on in my head and every doubt I have."
"I want to know what's going on in your mind at any hour of the day," he mumbed, weakly smiling as her eyes shot up to his. "And you have to come to some shows for me to make sure that you’re still my number one fan."
Reaching across the table, she took his hand in hers, jokingly kissing his scar filled knuckles.
Mumbling against his skin a soft, "Forever."

The Pure Truth
Josh Jenkinson x fem!reader
Summary: a quiet night after a gig.
Warnings: fluff
Wordcount: 0.7k
Masterlist
The music was still so clear in their head even when they have long been surrounded by silence. The adrenaline still pumped through their veins even when they laid to rest a while ago.
“You know, it always fascinates me,” she said, leaving the end of her sentence out at first. Searching for the right words she couldn’t find as fast as she wanted to.
“What does?” He asked, holding her close to his body.
She was warm, always. In comparison to his own cold body, she seemed like the sun in the dark of the night to him. A fire ready to warm him up whenever he needed her.
Cuddling her body against his was the only solution. He still asked her if it was alright that he held her, or he would ask for permission before they kissed but that’s what she liked about him. When he felt insecure about it, she would assure him that nothing about him could be bad in her eyes.
All the other guys she once dated were always doing it when they wanted. They also did what they wanted. She never got to actually decide whether she wanted something or not. And with the past guys she probably would’ve said no to some stuff. But not with him. Josh and his gentle touch would never make her not want something.
“The way you’re so comfortable and confident on stage,” she explained, lifting her head to look at him. “I mean, when I first met you I was afraid for a second that you couldn’t even speak - which wouldn’t have been a problem, but you know? And then I saw you on stage later that night and you seemed like a completely different person. I was also afraid that you just didn’t wanna talk to me, but you proved that wrong quickly after.” She laughed at the memory. “Anyway, when you’re up on that stage - when I see you up on stage, I just know that you belong there. No matter how you act around other people, the Josh Jenkinson on stage is the real one.”
He didn’t know what to say. There were rarely moments when he didn’t know what to say to her but now truly was one of those rare moments. It was like all the words he’d learned, all the confidence he build up over the months of talking to each other was all thrown out of the window. It felt like they were back at the beginning.
“I love you so much,” was what he finally settled on.
Because it was the pure truth.
Laughing at him quietly, she buried her head into the fabric of his shirt. Still able smell the soap from his body through it. Even after dating for a year now, he was still able to make her blush, and he knew when he’d done it once more, even in the dark with only the moon light lighting up her face and casting a shadow of all the details on the wall. He knew by the simple act of her hiding away.
“But seriously,” she said, her voice muffled by the fabric still. “What makes you so confident?”
His hands got tangled up in her hair as she laid so close to him and he couldn’t stop himself. “I think, I just focus on the guitar. I focus on playing good and knowing that people listen to our music just makes it all easier.”
“Do you like it when I’m acting all confident on stage?” It was less teasing and more insecurity shining through then in that question. Was the person he represented on stage for an hour more fascinating to her than the pure human being that he truly was?
“I like you however you act. Just don’t be an asshole.”
“You know I wouldn’t be to you.”
“I know. You’re too cute.” Laying her forehead against his, she softly let her lips travel over his face.
“Cute Josh,” she teased, using the nickname Bobby sometimes called him in videos or conversation.
Groaning, he threw his head back before flipping her over and starting to move his hand up to her ribcage. Breathing against her lips, his fingers began to move. A squeal left her mouth as he began to tickle her, laughs escaping with it. Choked up breaths and words as she tried to make him stop.
After a bit she got a hold of the back of his neck, pulling him down and capturing his lips with hers, making his fingers stop moving.

Literature and feelings
Eli Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: when she can't sleep, he's the one to hold her.
This was a short story of my own originally, not a fanfic, so it's a lot of yapping in there, but I didn't have anything other to post and I do like it a lot and it'd be a waste if it was rotting away in some document.
Warnings: mentions of insomnia (I don't personally have it, I just go to bed late, still I hope this is as accurate as possible), pet names, College AU (I'm solely focused on school atm if you can't tell), friends to lovers
Wordcount: 2k
Masterlist

When you are having a sleep disorder, your eyes will stay open when they should be closed and your mind is active, noticing the slightest of details. You will hear the branch outside your room hit the window when it’s a windy night, you will hear the people talking outside the door when they should sleep (wondering if they feel the same way oneself does or if they just do it for the other), you can hear your brain work through the sleepless nights, noticing every thought it has.
If it isn’t occupied by all the noises surrounding it, it begins thinking about all the people you give your time to. You begin counting the people who hate you, that did something bad to you and before you can fall into the rabbit hole of self-hatred, you remind your mind that there are people that like you. You’ll remember phrases they’ve said, secrets they shared, feelings they opened up to; if nothing about them comes up, or you already went through it, you begin to think about what you’ve said, what secrets you’ve shared, how you feel about them.
Her mind begins at the start, when the sun goes down and she lies in the comfort of her bed, surrounded by old coffee cups, stacks of books, flowers (fresh and dead next to each other), and the smell of old paper, oranges and ink. She notices the willow tree hitting her dorm room window together with the slight rain drops that come falling down from the sky.
Mary and Rose are outside, taking advantage of the only time when no one will see the affection they share for each other, talking and sharing a kiss here and there, until the first person comes out and they decide it’s saver to go to bed, alone. The door next to hers makes a sound as it is opened and then melodies of kissing and further love fill the room; Bobby and Martha could never spent more than two hours without the other.
She turns on her other side, leg draping over the bed sheets, one of her arms crawling under the pillow, holding it up so that her head can lay comfortable. Her eyes close and the only thing on her mind is static silence. The hope of finally falling asleep is near, it’s hanging from the wall and in front of her eyes. She stretches her hand out to grab it, her fingertips touching it.
But then the pedestal she stood on cracked, making her fall to the ground.
The noises of Bobby and Martha make her head turn to the wall that separates them, disgusted by hearing what they are doing.
Throwing a shirt over her pyjama, that consisted of a pair of shorts and a bra, before walking out the door. In the hallway Mary and Rose gave her a look, asking if she knew, to which she only smiled at them, both going back to their cigarette and conversation after; Josh stood a few feet away, leaning out the window talking with someone about going out, the smoke of the cold winter night coming from his mouth as he spoke.
With her arms around her chest she made her way through the boy’s hallway. Some giving her a weird look, as if they never went into the girl’s chambers. Ryan, a guy from her English class, greeted her as he stood in the doorway talking with someone on the phone.
“Wait, Y/n.” He called after her, hanging up the phone. “Eli isn’t in such a good mood today, went to bed early, he might as well be asleep already.”
“I will be quiet and try to not wake him up, even when I don’t think he went that early to bed to already sleep. But thank you for informing me.” she thanked him, walking a few steps backwards, waving him good night and the turning around again.
Eli’s room was at the end of the hall, making it easy for him to stay up late or letting out his anger at 2 in the morning, about something stupid or feelings that he swallowed into his own existence rather than making them known, without anyone noticing. Sat with his guitar until the sun came up.
Inhaling deeply, letting the air fill her lungs, feeling her chest go up and down, she pushed the handle down slowly and stepped into the dark room. Eli was laying with his back to the door, his blanket pulled up to his chin. Curtains not fully closed, making the moon shine down on him; the light reflecting on his white skin in a room floated by darkness, making it seem like the shimmer of the sea.
Closing the door behind her, she took one step after the other, making her way towards his bed. The mattress shifted as she sat on the edge of it, and even though his eyes are closed, he’s not asleep. His breath was still static and his jaw looked more tensed than relaxed.
“I was almost sleeping.” He mumbled, his tone harsh, opening an eye to see who interrupted his peace.
“I’m sorry,” she says, looking down at her fingers that were fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.
“Don’t be,” He answered, lifting the blanket and moving over so she could fit under it as well. “Can’t sleep?” He asks, turning his body so they were facing each other, when she laid beside him. His eyes looked genuine and soft, a small hint of tiredness laying in them too.
“Yeah, something completely new,” she answers sarcastically, trying to play the guilt off that she felt for waking him up.
“You wanna do something?”
“No.” Rest her head on his chest, she let her breathing settle to his heartbeat. In the moment of silence, her mind makes up different ways of how this night could end; good and bad. Trying to push the bad one’s away, knowing that whatever her head made up wasn’t what he would say, not out loud to anyone she knew, at least.
“What is going on in that pretty little head of yours, that keeps you up all night, love?” His fingers began stroking her hair, combing through the knots that were created from her tossing and turning in the dark. Her mind relaxing when he does that, calming her nerves and realizing that it’s just them two in a world so full of people that were always acting so hectic and stressed, when sometimes it could be so easy.
“Everything,” she answer, her leg laying over his, her foot resting between his own. “Can you tell me something different to think about? Anything. I just don’t want my old thoughts anymore.”
Silence filled the room as he thought of what he hasn’t told me already. “Today in Russian we talked about ‘The Brothers Karamazov’ and we went through our favourite lines in the book. The moment I heard the task, I knew which one I loved the most,” He said.
“What was it?”
“‘You will burn and you will burn out; you will be healed and come back again.’” He answers. Quoting the sentence without hesitation, as if he had it read over it so many times that it was burned in his head; sitting in his bed with the light on on the night stand, reading the same sentence, over and over again, getting shivers every time he finishes it and can’t believe what he just read, having to do it again. It’s like a painting engraved in his head, he couldn’t look away from it when he first saw it and now it’s still visible when he close his eyes.
“Why?”
“I believe, that if you come back to life, you need something or someone to do it for; you can’t do it on your own. When I was burning and needed a helping hand to get me out of the fire, you held yours out for me. You didn’t care if you got burned in the process, you just wanted to help me. When I realized that, the quote was since then about you and always will be. I picked it, because it reminds me of you,” He explained, his eyes set on the white ceiling that closed the space, creating something where they could be just two kids, talking about literature and feelings.
She looks up at him, her voice stuck in her throat, before breathing out, “Us.”
“What?” He asks, looking at her as well.
“It should remind you of us; you were also there not just me. It’s about us.”
He smiles down at her, his eyes sparkling with a strange desire of affirmation. It will always be them, no matter who gets between them, until this day, the quote reminds her of them.
“Did you explain it this way too?” she wondered.
“Not exactly.”
“How then?”
“I just said it reminded me of a certain time in my life where I met someone really important to me.”
“I’m really important to you?”
“More than you know.”
The way he said it made her heart stop. Could there ever be a right time for them? From kindergarten until 8 months ago, she never saw him as more than a friend, but after that one night in her room, she couldn’t forget the way his eyes and lips are shaped. Her mind was full with him and he didn’t know. All the little things start to taste bitter sweet, knowing that her mind is too full of skeletons and bones he doesn’t know of, that when he finds them out, he will run down the hill she’s build for him.
“You’re thinking again,” he muttered, tapping her arm to make her come back to reality.
“What’s so bad about me thinking?” she said it, like it wasn’t the reason she was here, with him.
“You don’t sleep when you think.”
“I don’t sleep even when I don’t think,” she shot back.
“You sleep when I’m with you.”
“Must be some superpower of yours then.”
“I’ve got many, love. Don’t underestimate me,” Eli answered, laughing as he began tickling her sides. Making her squirm in his crib and moving away from his reach.
Turning towards the edge of the bed, his fingers still moving over her skin, almost falling out. She could already feel her body hitting the floor, until it didn’t. Two hands holding her waist. Holding her up from hitting the ground.
“Got ya,” Eli mumbled from behind her, making her breath hitch.
Turning around in his crib, she came face to face with the guy she couldn’t stop thinking about having so close. Her breath hitting his face and his fanning over hers. Goosebumps appearing on both their arms, both feeling a shiver run down their spine. Both feeling the magnetic like pull between them. Both feeling their lips pressed together, moving against each other. Hearts exploding in their chests. Hands tangling into the others hair and shirt and skin.
“I don’t think I’m gonna be able to sleep now,” she said, breathing heavily. Looking him in the eyes, she knew that he was feeling the same. They didn’t have to say a word about it, they knew, because they knew each other.
“Might have to give you a good night kiss then,” he said, smiling widely before leaning down again, connecting their lips once more. This time it was softer, lighter.
They definitely wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.

Personal Photographer
Ryan McMahon x fem!reader
Summary: A day at Universal Studios with Ryan.
Warnings: fluff, making out, established relationship, bobby shaming (just jokes, love that guy)
Wordcount: 1k
Masterlist, Inhaler Masterlist
Ryan was buzzing as soon as he woke up that morning, waking her with kisses over her face and neck. Tickling her sides in excitement to get her eyes open. Half laying on top of her, she couldn't push him off. Both arms holding her waist in a tight grip as he beamed at her under the sunlight.
"What is up with you today?" she asked, turning her face away as soon as his came closer to hers again. Lips already pursed. Groaning as he didn't stop to let her sleep a little bit longer.
At her words, his movement stopped. A shocked expression etched on his face like bleach staining a perfectly good shirt. "Don't tell me you've forgotten," his voice audibly offended.
As she let out another groan of frustration, Ryan pushed himself on his elbows, hovering over her like a craw ready to attack it's prey.
"You seriously forgot what Rob reminded everyone of five times yesterday?"
"As if anyone ever listens to that guy," she answered, waking up a bit more with every word he said that kept her from closing her eyes in peace. "Not my fault he never shuts up."
"I can't believe you." Shaking his head, he began tracing lines on her rib cage. "And I call you love."
"Nobody makes you do that," she added, wrapping her arms around his neck to keep him from moving away this time. Snuggling into his arms next to her to hide her eyes from the bright sun. "It's your own free choice."
With his jaw falling down in exaggeration, his eyes couldn't help but soften at the sight of her so comfortable with him. Even when she was annoyed by his antics, she still felt comfort in his touch, whichever way she might get it.
"That's outrageous of you to say." He tasked his tongue like he was lecturing a child.
"What is today then?" she asked after a while of silence. Opening one eye to get his attention back on the topic at hand.
"Universal Studios," he said it like it was the most obvious answer out of all available. "Are you fucking serious right now?"
A laugh bubbled up from her chest as his serious tone hit the words on his tongue. It was ridiculous how offended he sounded. Trying to move away from her again, she only pulled him closer, making his arm give up in faked exhaustion and landing on top of her. Head pressed into her stomach as he groaned into her skin. More laughter coming from her as his lips tickled her stomach while kissing her skin.
"Have you forgotten we're going to Hogwarts today, you absolute nerd," he asked between kisses, smiling at the sound coming from her.
"I'm sorry, 'm so sorry," she said in between giggles.
Trying to push his head away, though she started pulling his hair instead. Soft moans leaving his lips. Ryan's lips trailed up farther, over her chest and collarbone up her neck. Until - at last - his lips met hers. His hand cradling her cheek as they were laid flushed together between messily tangled sheets. His other hand soothingly moving up and down her waist.
Pulling away and giving her one last kiss, he mumbled, "Let's get dressed. You don't wanna miss the Hogwarts Express, now do you?"
"You're no fun," she complained, groaning again as Ryan pulled her up. Standing over her on the mattress, pushing away the warm blanket with his feet and making her fully leave the warmth they've created the night before.
Even though she still complained as they got dressed and walked down the hotel lobby to get breakfast and then head to Universal Studios, she couldn't disagree with how fun the day had actually been. Taking pics of the lads for the time she was with them for them to post on their Insta and creating memories with her friends in places she'd never been in before was what she expected life to be when she was younger. Getting to life her dream thanks to him.
The guy who would drag her to every attraction that there was, not letting her take a breath after running from one shop to the other to run again. The guy who would randomly pull out his phone whenever they sat down and take a selfie with her 'for the memories' when they both knew it was so that he could look at them when she was back at home again and he was still away. The guy who refused to let anyone but her take pictures of him because, according to him: she made him look the best.
In no way was she a professional, still he somehow was convinced that whenever she took a pic of him, he looked great. Better than on anyone others. Having given up on telling him that he just looked too good to look bad on any photo, she complied and was the one to take a picture when he said something would look cool.
Whether it'd be in Paris where he pretended to be bigger than the Louvre (which turned out quite bad) or in Florida, right at the moment, where he stood next to the big globe, longingly staring out at the sky.
"You got it?" he asked after a few seconds of posing for her to get the right angle.
Looking over her shoulder, shielding the screen from the sun, he watched as she showed him the pics on his phone. Swiping through them like it was a gallery they were at.
"They're great," he said, leaving a kiss on her cheek. "You're my personal photographer from now on."
"Let's be honest, I've been that for years already," she said, looking to her right at him. Eyes slipping down to his lips, the hesitance in her of PDA in public still being as ever present as at the beginning of their relationship. Always asking if he was alright with it.
Quickly leaning down, Ryan captured her lips with his. Smiling and mumbling against them, "Wouldn't have it any other way."

Crosswords In The Morning
Ryan Mcmahon x fem!reader
Summary: a slow morning with Ryan.
Warnings: fluff
Wordcount: 0.8k
Masterlist, Inhaler Masterlist
Her skin was burning. Flames scattered over her exposed skin as her eyes opened. Coming face to face with the man she fell asleep next to the night before.
Lifting her fingers up to his face, she gently brushed away the strands of hair messily falling into his eyes. Shuffling closer, she left a kiss on his bare shoulder. Traveling upwards over his collarbone, his neck, up to his ear.
Murmuring a soft, "Morning, love," as she laughed softly hearing him groan, still half asleep.
"You don't want to have me around, huh?" she asked, acting hurt.
Pulling away from him, she slipped away from under the covers quick enough to be far enough form his reach. Ryan's hand defeatedly falling back on the mattress as he mumbled, "Get back."
Laughing at his needy tone, she took a step backwards, edging out of the room.
"No, can't do. I've got a job to attend, you know?" she reminded him, making him groan again.
Walking into the kitchen, she started getting breakfast ready. While she was waiting for the coffee to be ready, two arms softly wrapped around her waist. Ryan's lips falling on her shoulder like it was part of his routine, his teeth gently edging into her skin before they were replaced by his lips once more.
"You still coming to the gig later?" He wanted to make sure she was there.
Having a time consuming job made it harder for both of them to spent as much time together as they wanted to, so every opportunity they had to support each other was extra meaningful.
"Yep, making sure I get out of the office early enough to still arrive before the show," she confirmed, humming as he began swaying the two of them to the song playing from the record player. "And wish you good luck."
"Haven't heard that from you for a long time," he said, taking both cups that stood in front of her before carrying them to their little dining table. Setting them down, he walked back over, picking up both their breakfasts and setting them down too. Sitting down, he waited for her to sit opposite him before he started eating.
They spent the rest of the morning in silence, both going through messages and texts, talking about what they were doing that day, showing each other funny stuff they found on the internet.
When they were both finished, she sat cross legged on her chair, crossword sat in front of her. Pen tapping against her lips as she thought about each question and each answer.
After putting the plates in the sink, Ryan walked over to her, sitting down next to her and leaning his elbow on the table and his head in his palm to get a closer look to what she's struggling with.
"That's 'Avian'." He points out to one of the boxes on the paper. 'What are birds also referred to as?' it reads. "I swear, Bobby never shuts up about those damn things."
"Let that man have his fun," she chuckled, rolling her eyes and swatting his arm. Still she noted down each letter, clean and readable. "You're such a party popper."
"Says the woman who threw up when I tried to kiss her the first time," he recalled the memory, earning a wide eyed gaze from her with her mouth wide open in shock that h brought that up again.
"We agreed to never talk about that again," she reminded him. Genuinely taken back that he mentioned it. "I was absolutely plastered, alright? Not my fault that you guys have so much alcohol at your parties."
"We were nine-teen! Let us have our fun," he tried defending himself. Taking her hands in his as she tried writing down another word.
Forcing her to turn to him, he was looking into her eyes. Recalling every time they said forever to each other.
"What do you say about a trip?" he asked out of the blue.
Her eyebrows furrowed, not quite understanding his meaning and question. "What?"
"After the tour's over, you can take some days off and we'll just go somewhere, only us. What do you say?" His voice always carried a sort of excitement for everything in life, but now, explaining his thoughts to her, he had never sound happier.
Especially when she answered, "Yes. I desperately need to get away from this scenery for a bit."
Pulling her closer, he left a quick kiss on her lips. Already knowing er next words as her eyes slipped over to the clock.
"I need to go," she said, smiling apologetically as his fingers rubbed circles over the back of her hand.
With one last kiss goodbye, she slipped out of the door completely. Leaving him to his own devices. Until night would dawn and he had her back in his arms just before going on stage and right after it.

Your Girlfriend
Eli Hewson x fem!reader
Summary: when Eli meets up with an old friend, he's far more interested in the girlfriend
Warnings: toxic relationship (not Eli), misogyni, swearing, indications of wanting someone to break up with their partner, angst, fluff
Wordcount: 2.1k
Masterlist, Inhaler Masterlist
Eli had always been observant.
His eyes flicking over every person's head. Watching the way someone lifted up their cup or how they were holding their pen. Watching someone's eyes move to every side when talking or focusing straight ahead.
Noticing the people sitting on table across the room that would stay unnoticed by most people on a sunny Wednesday morning while waiting for an old school friend of his. Searching for no face in particular but finding hers instead.
Eyes focused on the pages of her book, coffee in front of her. Sitting all alone and he would've walked over, said hello and tried getting her to agree on a second cup he'd pay for. Bu then the door opened and a face whose details were still familiar to his mind came walking in. Eyes darting across the room. Finding his first.
Lifting his hand, Eli tried waving him over. But instead of straight walking over to the window seat, his friend walked to the right. Knitting his eyebrows Eli watched where he went to. Trying to see if he recognized anyone else. He didn't. There was no one else around he would remember.
The cafe was almost empty, still the air felt heavy as Eli watched where he was walking. Over to her. Hand on the back of her chair, getting her attention by a knock on the wooden table. Looking up, a bright smile etched itself on her face. Standing up to kiss him. A ring smirking at him from where her hand rested on his friend's cheek. The diamond reflecting in the sunlight he was sitting under.
They walked over together, her taking her coffee and trying to balance it with her book in the other hand and not spill a drop that was still in it. Walking over to him.
Eli stood as quick as he took back control of his mind. Making his hand move towards the two of them. Hugging him, shaking her hand, saying hello. "Nice to meet you," when they were introduced.
"That's my partner," Tom, his friend, had introduced her as. Her name following swiftly after, like he had to prove that he knew it. She was smiling at him. Cup set down. Book stuffed into her bag like she wasn't fully invested in the story two minutes ago.
My partner. Not girlfriend. Not fiancee. Wife. Just partner.
Still the diamond clung to her ring finger, mischievously mocking him. Left hand over the right one. Engaged, clearly.
"How have you been?" Tom asked, hand resting on her thigh for a second before patting the flesh and taking it back onto the table. Fingers clutched together.
"Good," Eli answered, eyes focused on his friend's hands. Why would he touch his own skin if he could touch hers? "The band's doing great. We just finished the North America Tour. Europe's next." Why was he leaned so forward. No arm draped around the back of her chair, smoothing out the tension in her shoulders. "How about you?"
"Yeah, good," Tom answered. "Work's great. It is really busy though lately. I barely have time to do stuff I like." He's gonna say, 'spend time with my fiancee', right? Eli thought of the words so clearly he barely comprehended what he answered instead. "It's so hard staying away from golf for so long. I miss flying out over the weekend."
Eli's eyes flew over to her, watching her sucked lip between her teeth, fingers anxiously tapping against her bicep. Eyes never focused on one thing for too long to take notice of it's details.
"Must be heartbreaking," he answered, leaning back, sarcasm dripping down his tongue. "Anything else?"
"It is, let me tell you that," Tom answered. "We've only gotten our membership to one of the most private clubs in France and all of a sudden I need to do something at every hour."
"You two?" Eli pointed between the couple who seemed to sit a mile apart from each other around the small table.
"Oh no, she doesn't play. Way too focused on those little articles of hers." Tom waved it off like nothing else.
Her head falling down in shame, not surprise. Past conversations that went the same flashing back into her mind. Laughter falling from the other side most times, an 'why does she need to work with a man like you?' coming from others. Never a genuine interest in talking to her. She was just there to sit still, look pretty and help him seem like a good person. One worth staying for.
"What do you write about?" Eli asked instead, the table standing in silence. His whole body was now turned towards her as her head perked up again. Trying to make sure she was spoken to before answering.
"Just this and that," she vaguely said.
"Nothing on great importance," Tom answered. "Nothing you'd find in a good paper at least. Neither informative or intelligent. Mostly just shoes, make up. The usual stuff only women are interested. She's gonna stop with it though, once we get married, have kids. It's gonna be too much for her."
And then the conversation wore on. Tom's voice filling the whole cafe as the other two bodies sat in silence for most of the time. Her with her head down. Eli with a thousand ideas of how they could escape this. Breaking the window with his chair and the two of them running out together, her spilling her coffee over Tom's trousers to excuse herself to the bathroom but instead the two of them would run away. A robber would walk in - Ryan could probably pull it off. A car could crash into the shop.
The ideas got more absurd the longer he sat and listened. His eyes always focused on the way her arms were crossed over her chest, chest falling up and down with every deep breath she took. Her face falling into her face but she didn't push it away. It only hid her more from Tom.
Until his daydreaming found an end by a phone ringing. Tom's phone. Finally making him shut up about the deal he'd made with one of their old teachers.
"Hello," he answered, straightening his tie as soon as the voice on the other end spoke. "Shit." Another beat of silence, muffles treating out from the speaker. "Yeah, I'll be there."
And then he stood up, phone stuffed in his jacket pocket, money thrown on the table. An rushed, "Sorry, guys. Work's calling me." A hasted kiss on her cheek as he stood up and a rushed wave as he walked out the door until the ding over it finally announced his departure.
Now they were sat alone, two throats that were dry from the silence they had left in the conversation. Eyes darting around the room as they both waited for the other to say something. Dismiss themselves or asking the other to leave as both their cups were still half full.
"How the fuck do you get on with him?" Eli finally said, head thrown back into his neck as he let out a groan.
A laugh bubbling out of her as she watched his dramatic play.
"I mean, I never liked him the best back in school but, man, has he fallen off." Shaking his head, he finally looked at her. A kind of relief of Tom's absence clearly visible in her eyes. The tension in her shoulders finally released.
"There are actually a lot of people who enjoy his company," she said back and he couldn't get it into his head. Why was she still defending him after the conversation he'd just witnessed?
"I'm in the minority then," he shrugged, sitting up straighter. "At least I got good company there." At the confused look that passed over her face, he leaned on the table, closer to her now. "You didn't seem to keen on listening to him talk too."
Keeping his attention on her, he couldn't miss the guilty look washing over her face.
"It's only because I've listened to that conversation about a hundred times before already," she defended him still.
"So you've listened to him belittle your work about a hundred times too?"
"It doesn't come up that often," she said, swirling the cold substance in her cup.
"You wanna have another one?" Eli asked as he already stood up and walked over to the counter. Walking back with two coffees in hand. Putting one of them in front of her. Sitting down on the chair Tom once occupied. Moving closer to her, knees almost touching. One arm propped up on the table, his head laying in his hand as he looked at her. "So what do you write about?"
"I think he summed it up pretty perfectly already?" she said, shoulders slumping down, a slight pink coloring her cheeks as he sat so close she could smell his cologne and the faint rain from the morning still etched on his hoodie.
"I don't think he did." Eli shook his head. Tilting his head a bit more. "What do you write about? Who do you write for? Why are you gonna stop doing it?"
"You're very interested in other people's life, huh?" she chuckled, taking a sip of her new, warm coffee.
"I'm always interested in pretty and intelligent girls," he said back, shrugging like it was nothing.
Leaning back in his chair, legs stretching out in front of him. Trapping her own leg between them. One of his legs moving between her own, their knees touching. His thigh pressed against hers. Leaving her space to answer but not to breath properly.
Straightening her spine, she composed herself, but didn't move her leg away. Relaxing the muscles in her body once she found her voice again, still slightly wavering as she answered. "I mostly write about fashion, trend predictions and costume analyses from movies or celebrities. All that stuff. Sometimes also on music, album or single reviews as well as interviews. Kind of everything that interests me. Working for magazines like Vogue or Dork kind of takes up a lot of time, I won't be able to manage all my time once Tom wants to have kids."
"Kids you don't want?" he guessed, making her eyes narrow at him. "At least not now, right? Or am I wrong?"
"I could wait a few more years," she confessed, falling back into herself. "But he wants them and his mother has been asking non stop lately."
"But it's still your body," he reminded her. "It should still be your decision."
"It is my decision," she said, voice growing louder. Her mind growing more frustrated. Words tumbling over each other.
"If you say so," he said, taking his own cup and falling back into silence with her.
Thinking the topic had died on both their tongues until she let out, "I mean, what would you do in my situation? I can't just say no every time someone asks about it."
"The same way you couldn't say no to the ring on your finger?" He knew he was pushing her over an edge now. They both knew it, though neither was totally sure what would be on the bottom if she fell. Still he didn't stop. "Or was the obnoxious big diamond your decision too?"
"OK, thanks for the coffee, but I don't think talking to you any longer is an idea I find entertaining," she said, packing up her stuff and getting ready to leave. The coffee now empty.
Squeezing his eyes shut and running his hand over his face, he knew he fucked up. "Wait!" he called out after her, standing up too. Pocketing Tom's left over money that wasn't needed since you pay directly after ordering. "I'm sorry, alright?"
Following her in a quick pace, Eli caught up to her fast step and avoidant eyes in only a few seconds. Catching her head turning away from him in the corner of his eye. Taking her shoulders in his hands and making her stop walking. Slightly tumbling into his chest at the force with which she was stopped.
"I didn't mean to put you down like that, alright?" he started apologizing, turning her head towards him so she would look at him. "It's just - Why are you with a guy like him?"
"If he doesn't talk about himself, what does he talk about? From what I've witnessed I don't think it's you. Or anything you're interested in," Eli continued talking, keeping her in place and unable to run away. "Look, I'm not saying you should dump him and break through with some guy you just met. I just think you could do better."
"Oh yeah, like who? Some guy who will be sweet and kind and caring until I show the slightest bit of personality that isn't being a silent body to look at? I think I'll pass. Thanks though." Trying to walk away once more, he caught her wrist with a slight grip. Tucking her closer.
"We have an additional show here tomorrow," Eli offered, his grip slightly losing itself from her skin. Still his touch burned inside her chest. "Come by if you want to, alright? Maybe with an answer to my question?"
