Our next female composer for this week is Elfrida Andrée, requested by compos-h-er (thank you)! I deliberated a bit over which work of Andrée's to choose, and though she is especially known for her organ symphonies (she herself was a celebrated organist), I decided I'd like to highlight her one of her chamber works, which I think deserve much more notice than they are generally given. This piano quintet was written in 1865, when she was just 24.
Piano Quintet in E minor Elfrida Andrée Midsummer's Music Ensemble
Stay tuned for more during this week-long celebration of female composers! To make recommendations or requests, contact me at my personal blog, cantationem. - Melinda Beasi
