It might be legit, or the little bird might be hiding in the rocks trying to escape. More study might be needed. I did find photos showing they keep larders of dead birds.
very cool but also kind of a dick move

for the wip word ask game: rain, lips, incredible, bird
:))
Thank you for asking!
So I realized as soon as you asked, that the problem is I usually only have a sentence for an idea before I type it all up and post it in a day or two. So I had to make a wip before I could answer your ask! Anyway, here you go, I put birds in for you. Rose is wandering around Naxos, and she's going to come across Orpheus eventually.
Rose wandered up and down the beach, looking for a quiet corner to put down her towel, but every time she thought she’d found one, a random stranger would throw a ball towards her, or a child would accidentally kick sand on her towel. Finally she found a perfect spot, only for a seabird flying over to let one loose on her head. “Argh! I give up!” She turned inland and got out her phone to book a ride to Mount Zas on the site the hotel desk agent had shown her. Ten minutes later her car arrived, the enthusiastic driver willing to talk her ear off as he drove her to the parking lot, raving about the Cretzschmar's Buntings and Eleonora’s Falcons she would likely see at the summit. The cairns and trail markers he pointed out were easy to follow, and Rose enjoyed her hike, crossing the large slabs of rock near the beginning with care and peeking into the dark Cave of Zeus. The birds at the summit rode the air currents (falcons) and picked at the ground for seeds (buntings). The ocean glimmered in the sun on the horizon. She felt the stress of the last few weeks melting from her body. It was on her way down again that she was thinking about her next book and suddenly noticed that there hadn’t been a trail marker in a while. She looked around. Surely this was the same path she’d come up on? It looked the same. But there weren’t any trail markers around. Ah, well, she decided. She’d just go on and hopefully she’d see one soon.
@ilya-halfelven I'm sure you want to see this too!

Can I have a bird?? Nero
Eleonora's falcon
This bird will catch smaller birds and rip the feathers of its wing so they can no longer fly. afterwards it forcefully stuffs these birds in holes in rocks for storage. it simply wants to have food for later. I wonder if it knows what it does. it must on some level understand the gravity of the removal of flight. itself is a bird. it knows how important flight is. I suppose because it knows and understands it also knows how important it is to remove it so its prey stay helpless. one day itll regret keeping its prey alive. one day.

with news of the american ornithological society deciding to replace all eponyms in bird names, ie birds named after a real life person, my mind went to Eleonora's Falcon, a small hawk found in the Mediterranean region that winters in Madagascar. The name comes from Elianora D'Arborea, who was Juighessa, aka the ruler of a Judicate, what the island of Sardinia was split into from the 9th to the 15th century. During her reign over the Judicate of Arborea from 1347 to 1403, Elianora updated and enacted a codex of laws called the Carta de Logu, the first collection of norms of the island, written in Sardinian language. The norms Elianora put down in the Carta were a mix of historical rules and new ones that made it so effective that it was in use from the year 1392 to 1827, when it was replaced by the Savoyard code. From Wikipedia:
Additionally, and this is where Eleanor's Falcon comes in, the Carta de Logu was the first codex of laws in history (or at least in Europe) to protect hawk and falcon nests from illegal hunting! So that is why I believe if would be nice if this specific bird could keep its eponym.
and here's a not contemporary painting of Elianora writing the Carta:

Lady Hightower:
Otto being slight less of a pain for Leonyra bc he has to divide his energy to fight with Naerys.
Example: Otto can't help ruin Leonyra's feast bc he has to find a birthday gift better than Naerys's for Eleonora and show her up
Naerys and Otto have a gift-off that is the envy of every Reach girl except Ormund always feels bad for being a shitty dad, so he finds the rarest or more dramatic shit and brings it as a gift.
Women aren't allowed in the Citadel? Boom, Elaenora can visit whenever she wants,
Daven wants to squire for the best knight in the Reach? Boom, water dancing lessons, and a teacher from Dorne
Cordelia wants a falcon? How about one of the rarest kinds and a Little Valyrian he imported along with a master of making lace, so she can always have her favorite dresses?

Menorca, the northernmost Balearic island, invites guests to unwind, slow down, and chill. The island is a fortress of peace with 216 km of shoreline, ranging from the gentle white sand beaches in the south to the jagged red coast in the north. Menorca is not a big island so it is best to get a car rental in Menorca and save a lot of time while exploring the beauty of the island.
This tiny island is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, beautiful waters, and abundance of flora and fauna. Menorca is a great location for those who appreciate nature because it has several protected areas, such as wetlands, marine reserves, and natural parks. We'll look at some of Menorca's top wildlife destinations in this blog.
Amazing Menorcan Wildlife Destinations
Nature park Albufera des Grau The Biosphere Reserve's central region is the 5,100-hectare Albufera des Grau Natural Park in northeastern Minorca. Numerous bird species, including herons, ducks, eagles, and ospreys, reside in the area. In addition to taking a guided tour to learn more about the park's flora and fauna, visitors can explore the park on foot or by bike from Menorca car hire.
Monte Toro
The highest point on Minorca, Mount Toro, provides views of almost the entire island. One of the most significant spiritual locations on the island is the shrine constructed at the peak and devoted to the Virgin of Monte Toro. The Menorcan owl, which is unique to the island, is one of the many bird species that call this area home. Other animals that can be seen by visitors include lizards, rabbits, and hedgehogs.
La Illa d'en Colom
La Illa d'en Colom is only 200 metres from Menorca's north coast, but this distance is sufficient to make it a refuge that is only accessible from the sea, making it a quiet and isolated place to enjoy a few hours of peace away from the bustle that predominates in other parts of the island during the summer.
Many bird species, including the Audouin's gull and the European storm petrel, can be found on the island, which is a protected area. To see the birds and other animals, including dolphins and sea turtles, tourists can take a boat tour across the island.
Es Grau
Es Grau is a beautiful village in Menorca that is well-worth visiting if you're seeking something different to do. This small village, which is found on the island's north shore, has a gorgeous beach as well as several charming attractions.
Only 7 miles from Mahón and can be visited by car and you get a car hire at Menorca airport, the little community of Es Grau provides all you'll need for a peaceful stay. While your children play on the shore, this is the ideal location to unwind and take it easy. Since the water is so shallow here, there is plenty of sand for them to discover on their own!
Cavalleria Lighthouse
The Cavalleria Lighthouse, which is situated in Menorca's northern region, provides breathtaking views of the coastline and the Mediterranean Sea. Numerous bird species, including Eleonora's falcon, the peregrine falcon, and the European shag, can be found in the region surrounding the lighthouse, which is a protected natural park.
The Isla des Porros can be seen in the distance from a cave nearby that is about 20 metres long. If you are sailing in this region, you may see the cave from the water. Sunsets are magnificent when viewed from here at dusk. The lighthouse's interior exhibit is 0definitely worth seeing.
Menorca is a beautiful place and has many places to visit on a small island. The best to explore the island is by renting a car or bike. The ideal way is to rent a car at Mahon airport so you do not have to be dependent on public transport and get your journey started as soon as you land on the island. To make your journey to the island more wonderful it's best to rent a car from Binicars Menorca Car. They are one the best car rental services on the island and provide you with the best car or bike to make your journey comfortable.

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

I have a cardinal. You mentioned that your mother loved them.
The Eleonora's Falcon immobilizes prey in rock cavities to have a fresh meal for later.
@banisheed replied to your post “[user spends an hour thinking about how to start a...”:
Do you want some bird bones? Yes, I knew that. Similar as our sinuses. Did you know that some birds have a salt gland, as reptiles do, while allows for the secretion of salt? This allows them to filter any saltwater they consume.
I'd love some bird bones! [user doesn't want bird bones, even a little, but feels like it would be rude to decline.] Yeah, exactly! I didn't know that, that's really cool. I read that their bones are actually denser than mammal bones, even though they're hollow. Isn't that cool? It gives them a high strength-to-weight ratio.
