I feel like Lance gets reprimanded a lot for letting witches go instead of killing them.

Like, if a witch puts up a good fight, obviously he’s gonna want to fight them again, right? So he lets ‘em go in the hopes that he can fight them again in the future. That’s pretty much the only reason Eira made it out of his first fight with him- he put up a decent enough fight even without using his magick that Lance decided to let him go, even though he easily could’ve killed him during their first encounter
