The Rock Me FALCO! Website is online! It hosts all about FALCO - Hans Hoelzel, but translated - so that it's accessible to non German-speakers. If you can think of it, it is (or will be) there: album and movie reviews, song texts, tour material and dates, interviews, anecdotes, sheet music or past fanzines... We want to strengthen our bond as FALCO fans. Given the international scene, we're already few and far between. Let's come together! We're born as an Italian fanclub, but it's a work in progress and most of our stuff will be multilingual (EN/IT). As you can see on the homepage, there's a little form to "sign up" as a fan club (totally free) member to find more available materials. There's also a chat feature through the comments to communicate between fan club members!! Let us know what you think about the website. We're also active on most other platforms, especially Instagram. i ended up going to a bar after an evening seminar so this post is a biiiit later than i wanted it to be and just after midnight, but i still want to make a little post in honour of february 6th. it's been twenty-seven years since the tragic passing of one of my all-time faves: falco. on the twentieth anniversary of his passing, i got his birth date and death date tattooed on my arms, alongside 'out of the dark' on one and 'into the light' on the other, which refers to the song that got tied up with the tragic circumstances of his death.

while i do not post about my favourite austrian boy a lot these days, he is still among my favourite artists of all time. his tragic story has touched me and the energy he brought to performing still makes him the #1 artist i'd want to see if time travel were a thing.

if you want to honour him a little bit today, please don't listen to 'rock me amadeus'. while rock me amadeus was his biggest international success, it also has the sad circumstances surrounding it that (1 it marked the high of his career, but made him feel empty and unsatisfied with reaching the maximum once can reach, which fed into his mental health problems and exacerbated the existing conditions (2 it is a song on an album (series of albums, rather) that is purely made for commercial success and while it has some bangers, it misses the charm of what made falco so interesting in the first place. in fact, the entire albums purpose was to try and make a song that could follow up the success of 'der kommissar'. so instead, please listen to einzelhaft, which is his first record and imho just a magnificent record. imho one of the best records of all time.

anyway. i'm still a little bit sad every year surrounding the anniversary of his passing, but i'm mostly sad over his legacy being so warped. he's an incredibly interesting person with many flaws and i feel like his story is milked and spun into a direction i don't really like. also there are way too many greatest hits albums released. we don't need a new release every five minutes.

do i consider austrian singer falco an interest at this point i just like his songs and albums. i wanna say hes underrated even though i understand that he was PRETTY POPULAR in austria but i feel like der komissar and rock me amadeus just ARENT HIS BEST SONGS AT ALL LIKE THEYRE PRETTY GOOD but have you HEARD vienna calling or junge roemer like Idk he was cooking. every song off einzelhaft was a banger. I just put on Einzelhaft while I'm scrolling through your Falco posts from yesterday, it's always so nice seeing him on my dash. And I remember looking for Falco posts on Tumblr back in the day, found your blog and got so excited because someone actually made a Falco blog?!!?? ♥️ Good times! :')

sorry for replying to this a bit late, but i wanted to make some extra time for it and reply on my laptop rather than from my phone. good times indeed! <3 sometimes i get a bit sad that my falco blog (@jungeroemer, for the singular person who might be interested) is not that active anymore, same for my other sideblog @fythurelindhardt. though at the same time, i think it is nice to have dedicated spaces to them and it always makes me happy to see people go on a little reblogging spree through either of them. they might not be active blogs, but at least they serve as a starting point for people who might want to interact more with their work. anyway, i might not post a lot about falco at the moment, but it is always a delight to turn back to his music or to hear it on shuffle. he is my fifth most played artist in my life and a lot of my memories are tied to his songs, so yeah. i really like the funky austrian guy. <3

Ich habe zum zweiten Mal Julian Assange im Belmarsh Gefängnis besucht. Im Guantanamo Großbritanniens. Er ist 23 Stunden am Tag in Einzelhaft, und das seit 3,5 Jahren.

Sie wollen ihn nicht brechen. Sie wollen ihn töten. Es ist langsamer Mord. Einen Mann, der nicht schuldig gesprochen wurde. Der nur angeklagt wurde, Journalismus begangen zu haben.

Julian hält durch, Julian geht es nicht gut. Julians Seele wurde durch die Einzelhaft zerstört. Er hat mir beschrieben, dass es sich anfühlt, als sei seine Persönlichkeit zu einem kleinen Kern zusammengeschrumpft. Und seine Hoffnung ist, dass wenn unsere Kampagne für seine Freilassung Erfolg hat, seine Persönlichkeit aus diesem Kern wieder wachsen kann. Das ist unsere Pflicht.

Falls du ein Recht haben willst zu wissen, was deine Regierung hinter deinem Rücken tut, dass sie in deinem Namen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit begeht, dann musst du für Julian Assanges Freiheit kämpfen. Weil Julian Assange für dein Recht kämpft, genau das zu wissen.
