Eid Mubarak!! I'm sorry if I'm late, my community started celebrating it a little later than others >_< (shaytaan is begging the ummah to make up their mind on when eid is so he knows when he can come out lol) I really hope you have a beautiful eid with your family ❤ eat lots of biryani, nihari, gulab jamun and ras malai🤌 and please stay safe! InShaAllah may your Ramadan have been accepted and may you be rewarded with the highest of rewards ♥ 🤗
(Pffft, omg, I never thought about it that way, hahaha)
Eid Mubarak, Anon ✨✨🎉🎊🎉🎊 (I’m probably late, too, considering how long ago this was sent in, but) I hope you are having/have had a great time celebrating, and, InshaAllah, your Ramadan and deeds have also been accepted!!
I had a wonderful time yesterday ^^ Ahhh, nihari sounds soooo good rn… my family typically makes it once during Ramadan, but alas, there wasn’t any then nor at the party… InshaAllah, next year (and, well, sometime soon, too, because please).
Still a great time, though, ofc, ofc, haha (I managed to get the cards done! …At the expense of getting to the party an hour late, oops, but was worth it, haha). It’s funny, though—it was such an effort keeping awake at night this Ramadan, but the day it’s over, I get around an hour of sleep (in batches), and I didn’t feel tired in the least bit during the party/afterwards. Like, I’m usually pretty introverted even when it comes to just family get-togethers, but I wasn’t at all tired of social interaction when I left (though, we did play several rounds of an argument-based board game just before I left, and I do love me my debates, haha. Have late night discussions for a reason—energizes me right up). My arms and back did, however, end up somehow feeling pretty sore that night and this morning (which I do wonder if that’s where the lack of sleep contributed?).
But, yeah, had a good time this Eid, Alhamdulillah ^^ Hope you do/did, too <3

Idul Fitri di Bumi
Tenang, kita masih lebaran di planet yang sama, kok. Aku tidak kemana-mana. Masih di sini. Alhamdulillah, kan?
I really need to write this before I start working. I have faced my laptop for hours but still can't think and work properly. I need to write this first, really.
Lebaran kali ini? rasanya gimana?
Masih tidak bisa dijelaskan dengan kata-kata rupanya. Hha.
But...Okay.
No! I wasn't Okay. Seeing my mom crying really hurt me. I knew that she must be really sad as none of her kids are home. I couldn't see my mother crying and... in the end, I only could say, I am truly sorry as I couldn't be home right now.
I don't mind if I don't eat Ketupat, Opor, Nastar cookies, and many more. I also don't mind if I only could stay in my room this Eid. I just........couldn't see my mom crying. I know it's hard for my parents, although they always say Ok.
I was so great because, on the call, I could hold back my tears. But...after it... Oh Gosh... I only cried for a long time till my head felt so dizzy. I couldn't back go to sleep, then I took another medicine.
Maybe, now, we are still separated by distance, but we are always united with love and affection.
Happy Eid Mubarak!
See you next year, InsyaAllah :)

Allah calls Himself Al-‘Aliy— The Most High, The Exalted — on eight occasions in the Quran. He’s the One Whose loftiness is both in His essence and in His attributes. Al-‘Aliy is above any imperfections, above the ‘Arsh (throne). Our minds are at a loss regarding His greatness and our intellect is incapable of conceiving His perfection!
The Most High, the One Above Everyone and Everything
Aliy comes from the root ayn-laam-waaw, which points to four main meanings. The first is to be high, lofty, and exalted and to ascend. The second main meaning is to overcome and overwhelm and the third to advance and exceed. The fourth main meaning is to be eminent.
This root appears 70 times in the Quran in fourteen derived forms. Examples of these forms are ta’aalaa (exalted is He), ta’aalaw (come), ista’laa (overcome), ‘uluwwan (haughtiness), and ‘illiyeen.
Linguistically, ‘uloow points to the attribute of loftiness, and a person is ‘alee when he is prominent. Al-‘Aliy, under whose control everything in existence is, is the Most High.
Al-‘Aliy Himself said: He is the Most High, the Great [Quran, 2:255] . . . judgment belongs to Allah, the High, the Great [Quran, 40:12], and … the Great, the Most High [Quran, 13:9].
Surah Al ‘Alaa– Your Lord, The Most High
Al-Musabbihaat are the surahs in the Quran that begin with the declaration (sabbaha) of the perfection of Allah. Of the musabbihaat, Surah Al-‘Alaa is the most beloved to the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. He loved to recite this specific surah in every single Jumuah prayer and in both of the Eid prayers.
The first ayah is: sabbi hisma Rabbikal’alaa – Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High. There are many narrations of the companions radiyallahu ‘anhum, including those of ‘Ali, that whenever the Prophet heard this ayah he would say: Subhana Rabbi al-‘Alaa, Subhana Rabbi al’A’laa (Glory to my Lord, the Most High). When this first ayah was revealed the Prophet said: Put it in your sujood. Thus in every sujood of our prayer we use this version of Rabb (Lord), by saying: Subhana Rabbi, al ‘Alaa.
The rising of good deeds
Our good words and deeds rise up through the heavens to Allah Al-‘Aliy. The Messenger of Allah said: Those who remember Allah and glory Allah by saying, Glory be to Allah, Allah is most Great, all praise is due to Allah and La ilaha illallah, these words go around the Throne buzzing like bees, mentioning those who said them. Would one of you not like to have something with Allah mentioning him? [Ahmad, Ibn Majah]
Ali bin Abi Talib reported that Ibn Abbas said: The good word is the remembrance of Allah, may He be exalted, which is taken up to Allah, and the righteous deed is the performance of obligatory duties. Whoever remembers Allah when doing an obligatory duty, his deed carries his remembrance of Allah and takes it up to Allah, may He be exalted. Whoever remembers Allah and does not perform the obligatory duties, his words will be rejected, as will his deed. [Tafsir Ibn Katheer]
So remember— words and actions!
How Can You Live by This Name?
1. Be humble.
Among the good manners adorning a believer is submission before the glory of Al-‘Aliy. Train yourself to submit to Him, and place no one or nothing above Him in your daily life. Fight your desires and train yourself to show patience and gratitude in all situations to please Al-‘Aliy. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Whoever humbles himself before Allah, Allah will elevate him. [Muslim]
2. Increase your sujood.
When are we closest to the highest? When we are in sujood, the lowest position we can be in! The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam taught us: Prostrate much because there is no Muslim that prostrates to Allah except that Allah raises him one degree in Paradise by it and forgives for him a sin. [Ahmad] The more you prostrate, the more you raise your ranks in paradise insha’Allah, until you reach the highest level, Jannat Al-Firdaws (Paradise). This is where the Prophet will be. And the roof of this particular level is the throne of Al-‘Aliy!
Make sure you don’t just prostrate with your body, but also with a heart full of humility.
3. Have many good deeds rising to Al-‘Aliy.
Say a lot of subhanAllah, alhamdulillah, Allahu akbar, and la ilaha illAllah combined with your obligatory deeds.
4. Make use of the third part of the night.
Al-‘Aliy descends to the lowest heaven each night; make use of this time to ask, ask, and ask. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: The Lord descends every night to the lowest heaven when one-third of the night remains and says: Who will call upon Me, that I may answer Him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will seek My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? [Al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
5. Call upon Al-‘Aliy.
Call upon Al-‘Aliy, using this beautiful name in your dua’, and ask Him with the highest aspirations for the highest Paradise without reckoning!
6. Say subhanahu wa ta’alaa.
Make it a habit to say ‘subhanahu wa ta’alaa’ (glorified and exalted is He) when you mention Allah.
O Allah, Al-‘Aliy, we know that You are far above any imperfection. Help us to be humble, to fight our desires, and to never place anyone or anything above You. Make us increase our sujood with body and heart. Accept our good words and deeds and aid us to pray to you night and day. Elevate our ranks until we reach the highest Paradise, ameen!

What To Do If You Are NOT Going For Hajj?
The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the most beloved to Allah.
The Prophet testified to that. He said:
...
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days. (Bukhaari)
WHAT ACTIVITIES IN THESE 10 DAYS WILL BRING THE REWARD OF JANNAH?
Obviously, Hajj is one of the best deeds that one can do during these ten days. However for those of us who were not invited to His House this year, there are still many, good deeds that one can do and earn the Pleasure of Allah.
Some of these are:
1) Fast all nine days and especially fast the Day of Arafah
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years. (Bukhari, Muslim)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to fast on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah and he said:
Fasting the Day of Arafah (ninth Dhul-hijjah) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and an expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year. (Muslim)
2) Do a LOT of Dhikr and Takbeer
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Al-hamdu Lillaah).(Ahmad -Saheeh)
Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayrah used to go out in the marketplace during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, reciting Takbeer, and the people would recite Takbeer when they heard them. (Bukhaari)
Takbeer at this time is a Sunnah. So recite it in the masjid, in your home, on the street and every place where it is permitted to remember Allah.
Revive the Sunnah that have been virtually forgotten and earn great rewards for doing so.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward.(Tirmidhi- a hasan hadeeth)
Men should recite these phrases out loud, and women should recite them quietly.
3) Stand in Night Prayers: (Tahajud, Qiyam al Layl)
Remember the virtues of spending the night in prayer, and its sweetness in Ramadan?
Why not revive this beautiful act of worship during these nights as well?
Remember, how in the last third of every night, Allah Almighty calls out to us, His servants: Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him? (Bukhaari, Muslim)
Why do we miss this golden opportunity? So, seize the chance NOW and expose yourself to His Divine Generosity and Mercy, ask Him to forgive you and guide you and set things aright. He will surely listen.
4) Make Sincere Repentance.
One of the most important action during these ten days is to repent sincerely to Allah and to give up all kinds of disobedience and sin right away because we do not know when we will die and thus become unable to repent, and also because one evil deed leads to another.
But what does repentance mean?
It means that you come back to Allah and give up all the deeds, open and secret, that He dislikes. that you regret whatever you did in the past, giving it up immediately and be determined never ever, to return to it, and resolve to adhere firmly to the Truth by doing whatever Allah loves.
But as for him who repented, believed and did righteous deeds, then he will be among those who are successful. [Al-Qasas 28:67]
5) Come back to the Quraan
It is time now to dust off your copy of the Quraan and return to its refuge. Make it a daily habit, using these 10 days the beginning of a strong and beautiful relationship with it. Read it with meaning, reflect on it, understand it, and then implement it in your daily life.Remember that reading one letter of the Quraan earns you ten rewards.
In this way, reading Surat Al-Fatihah, which doesn’t take more than two minutes, will give you more than one thousand rewards!
This is on ordinary days, so what about these magnificent days! Certainly the reward will be far greater, Insha Allah.
6) Increase ALL the types of good deeds.
If we are unable to go to Hajj this year, we should occupy ourselves in the worship of Allah; pray extra prayers (Nafilah) recite the Quraan. Make Dhikr of Allah, send Salaams on the Prophet, make dua, give charity, honor our parents, uphold ties of kinship, enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, and add other good deeds and acts of worship during these days.
So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it; And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it.[Al-Zalzalah 99:7-8]
7) Get the reward of Hajj wherever you are:
You may be unable to do Hajj this year, and you may feel sad. However, you can get the reward of it right where you are.The Prophet said:
Whoever prays Fajr Prayer in congregation, and then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, then (after a while) prays two rakas, he will gain a reward equal to that of making perfect Hajj and Umrah.[He repeated the word "perfect" thrice.] (At-Tirmidhi)
Slaughter an animal and distribute the meat.
Ibn Umar said: The Prophet lived in Madeenah for 10 years and every year he slaughtered an animal. (Ahmad-Saheeh by al-Albaani)
9) Attend Eid prayers
But remember that Eid prayer is a form of worship and we should avoid unislamic behavior (especially) in dress and in etiquette during these times.
10) Thank Allah
One of the best forms of worshipping Allah Subhaanahu wa Taala is to thank Him, deeply, sincerely and continuously.
Alhamdulillah, there is much to be gained in these coming days. Hasten to do good deeds and striving hard in worship .
And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (death).[Al-Hijr 15:99]

Hey so I came across your blog and I’ve been really struggling with this and from what I’ve seen you seem to have come to terms with this already? I wanted to ask you, as a bisexual Muslim myself, how you came to accept and allow your sexuality and religion to co exist? I’ve been dealing with a lot of internalised homophobia because of my inner conflict with my beliefs and I’m having a hard time believing I could ever truly be happy the way I am. If you have any advice that would be great? (1/2)
Tumblr media
Assalaam alaykum wa rahmatullah!!
I know exactly how you feel, trust me. I have struggled with being nonbinary and queer as a muslim. I would constantly get hateful anons and messages about being proud and out in regards to my gender and sexuality, which greatly took a toll on my mental health and my relationship with my religion.
I have known I was queer since I was about 13, and 6 years later, the only thing that has changed are the words I use to identify myself. Growing up Christian, and in a firmly Republican family, I was partially exposed to the idea that being queer was a sin, or disgusting, or a disease. I remember being terrified when I first started questioning, and praying that I wouldn't be the way I am. But, I was born this way, Allah swt made me this way, and it was only my job to embrace it. My family has known almost as long as I have (alhamdulillah they've become very accepting), a majority of my friends that have come and gone over the years have also been queer, I've been to pride parades and festivals. I was thoroughly embedded in the LGBT+ community before I even considered taking my shahada.
I will be honest, not all of the sisters at the masjid know. But the ones who do, have shown me love and compassion, and worked to understand me, may Allah reward them. From older Pakistani and Ethiopian aunties, to young American reverts like myself, they all see me as a Muslim, although a bit different from them.
But, as I said, I still received hate on tumblr specifically. I genuinely struggled with keeping positive, and for a while I thought I was doing everything wrong when it came to ibaada. I prayed to Allah for forgiveness of a thing I had no control over, that Allah gifted me with.
This last Eid-ul-Fitr, I went to a sister's house (who was raised Muslim) with a few other reverts. We discussed many topics over lunch and dinner, everything from our lives as reverts and born-Muslims, to the life of the Prophet pbuh, to marriage. Upon the topic of marriage, I expressed that it was a difficult topic for me, as a queer person, who has very rarely felt attraction to any men I've met. I expressed how I felt disconnected from the LGBT+ community and the Muslim community, purely because there are many people who believe I don't belong to either group. The sister I told this to didn't even blink. She immediately began telling me about the Prophet pbuh and how he strived to welcome and provide safe spaces for queer Muslims and eunuchs. This came as a genuine shock to me; I've seen so many memes and listened to khutbahs and lectures bashing queers for being queer, claiming we made the choice to be this way.
Its difficult to educate others on things they refuse to believe, may Allah soften and guide their hearts, but it is important to know that you have a place as a queer person in the Muslim community, and Islam has a place in the LGBT+ community. Allah swt made you you for a reason. This struggle you've gone through is jihad, and may Allah reward you greatly for it.
If you ever need to talk, please PM me, I'll listen 💕

My birthday
I wanted to write about my birthday since a few days back but I was not emotionally stable. My birthday may never be as great as others but each year i appreciate it & look forward to it because if i can’t be happy on the other 364  days, i want to be happy at least for a day, on my birthday.
I actually have nothing to write about (told you it’s nothing special lol) but I still want to write about it bcs i wanna read this later. But wait my birthday was kinda special because it was on the first eid hehe. I mean that’s like once in a lifetime experience. For the previous few years, I never made a main dish on eid bcs i know i suck at cooking for my family. Every time i tried to cook for them, the dishes always turned bad lol. This year, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, so i cooked on the night before the first eid & i swear it was insane. I was so tired that i was hoping for my sisters to come back home although that was irrational of me to be thinking that way. My bergedil turned out so bad???? I threw it away HAHA told you. But the soup and the other things that i made turned out good. My kek batik also!!!
Eid was celebrated just like the previous years but my married siblings were not with us bcs they celebrated with their in laws.
Alhamdulillah, I was happy. My ramadhan was better than the previous year in term of my emotional stability. I could control my emotion better than last year.

Remembering our prophets
Tumblr media
Assalamu’alaikum wr wbh!
Eid Mubarak!
Once again the day has come for us to celebrate the second special occasion for Muslims all around the world which is the incredible occasion of Eid ul adha. In commemoration of the command given by Allah swt to Prophet Ibrahim as and his willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah swt. It is also a celebration to celebrate Allah’s acceptance of the dua made by Prophet Ibrahim that wants good for his children which came through the final messenger, our beloved Prophet Muhammad saw. And Alhamdulillah because of this beautiful occasion we are able to say our syahadah today
As we go visiting today, let’s not forget to recite our takbir and uphold the greatness of Allah in this joyous festival.
Allah swt says in Surah Al- Hajj verse 28:
“That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul‑Hijjah), over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice).” 22:28
May Allah accept our fast, pilgrimage, prayers and all our good deeds and may He grant the Muslim nation glory and success. Have a blessed Eid!
On another note, we would like to take this opportunity to share with everyone this good news. ART has decided to step up our game and keep our Tumblr page up and running. There will be a lot of interesting posts too including event updates and summary and so much more especially for those who are not able to make it for our event. So fret not. Do keep a lookout for us and we hope that with this effort, we can all benefit from it.
Jazakumullahu khayr.

Four Things to Do on the Blessed 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah
Allah the Most High & Exalted says: “By the Dawn; By the ten nights” [Surah Al-Fajr:1-2]
This oath substantiates the greatness and sacredness of these ten nights in the eyes of Allah. This is an extraordinary oath; it is very reliable and significant and the wise men can understand that by this oath, Allah too attaches great importance and value to the ten nights of Dhul Hijjah.
The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) has said regarding these blessed days:
“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” The people asked , “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah), and came back with nothing.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
It is clear then that these 10 days possess tremendous blessings and excellence. Therefore we should spend these 10 blessed days and nights in intensive worship and v
irtuous acts. Therefore we cannot possibly afford to miss out on such immense rewards otherwise we will definitely be in utter regret in the Hereafter!
The following are recommended acts to do during the blessed 10 days and nights of Dhul Hijjah.
1. Fasting the 9 days of Dhul Hijjah
It is recommended to fast on the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah, especially on the 9th which is the blessed day of Arafah. Allah’s Messenger ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) encouraged us to do righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah; and indeed fasting is one of the best of deeds. Almighty Allah says, “All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.”’ [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Note: The 10th of Dhul Hijjah is the day of Eid ul Adha and it is prohibited to fast on this day.
Forgiveness for 2 years of sins (minor sins) for fasting on the day of Arafah
: Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him)
narrated, “The Messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.” He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.” The Messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, “This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation.” [Muslim]
Therefore we should try our utmost to fast all the blessed 9 days of Dhul Hijjah – particularly the 9th of Dhul Hijjah which is the day of Arafah. If not then we should at least fast as many as we can possibly can as we may not get this opportunity again next year as life is uncertain and we should never procrastinate on doing good actions.
Tip: Eat light and hydrate well. If you will be staying up until Fajr, then the more you eat, the harder it will be for you to stay up and the less productive you will be! Keep some water with you at all times during the night. This will help you stay up, feel energised and refreshed and have a clearer mind. Also encourage your family and friends to join in!
2. Reciting tasbeeh, tahmeed, tahleel and takbeer abundantly
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (Allahu Akbar), tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), tahleel (Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), and tasbeeh (SubhanAllah) during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. These words should be recited abundantly in the masajid, homes, streets and in every place where it is permissible to remember and glorify Allah.
“That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (reward of Hajj in the Hereafter and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice).” [Surah Al-Haj:28]
Reciting the Takbeeraat-e-Tashreeq from the 9th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah:
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd.
Translation: “Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and all praises are for Allah only.”
Men can recite the above after every fardh salaat from Fajr of the 9th of Dhul Hijjah until Asr of the 13th of Dhul Hijjah audibly. Women should recite it silently.
Tip: Remember and glorify Allah no matter what you are doing: This is particularly easy as one can remember Allah anywhere and at any time whether it is during work or any daily activity.
3. Offering the Qurbani (sacrifice of a livestock animal)
The qurbani (also known as udh’hiya) is the sacrifice of a livestock animal during Eid ul-Adha. It is the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim ‘alayhi’l-salām (peace be upon him). It is a means of getting closer to Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He). It is obligatory upon every sane adult who is not a traveller and can afford it (wealth equal to or more than nisab). It is performed on the days of sacrifice which is the 10th, 11th or 12th of Dhul Hijjah. One may sacrifice a thousand animals on days other than these, but it will never be regarded or considered as udh’hiya. Therefore the qurbani is a sacred act which can only be done during the three days of Dhul Hijjah as specified. Regarding the qurbani, Allah says in the Qur’an:
“It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches Allah, It is their piety that reaches Allah.” [Surah Al-Haj:37]
Tip: It is best to go about the sacrifice the traditional way and offering it in your locality so that you obtain the lesson from the sacrifice and remind yourself of the emotions and test that Prophet Ibrahim ‘alayhi’l-salām (peace be upon him) himself endured. However, where you face logistical issues, nowadays it is much easier for us to fulfil this sacred act by the mere click of a button over the Internet where we can buy an animal to be sacrificed on the various established Muslim charity websites.
4. Doing more good deeds than usual
The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (Dhul Hijjah).” [Sunan Ibn Majah]
Therefore we should increase the amount of good deeds we do in order to take advantage of this blessed time where good deeds are increased significantly.
Tip: Complete as many worldly tasks as possible beforehand and do not waste this precious time: Make arrangements to clear as many of your pending tasks as possible or make a plan for tackling them later. This way, one is free to worship during the 10 days and nights without being distracted by worldly tasks. We must make a firm intention that during these blessed 10 days that we will not take part in idle talk, watch TV, play computer games or spend time on the social media. There are many more days in the year for all that – if you really cannot resist. This is just 10 days! Consider the utter loss and regret for those who waste these blessed 10 days.
The following 7 deeds are amongst the best actions we can do during these blessed 10 days:
Reciting the Qur’an abundantly: “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” [At-Tirmidhi] So if one letter of the Qur’an is equivalent to ten good deeds then imagine how much reward there is for reading each letter during these blessed 10 days which are said to be the best days of the year! Subhanallah!Abu Darda’ reported Allah’s Apostle ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) as saying: Is any one of you incapable of reciting a third of the Qur’an in a night? They (the Companions) asked: How could one recite a third of the Qur’an (in a night)? Upon this he (the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)) said:” He is Allah, One” is equivalent to a third of the Qur’an. [Sahih Muslim] Therefore let us recite as much of the Qur’an as we can during these 10 days and nights and aim to recite it from cover to cover if we can. After that we should continue reciting the Qur’an throughout the rest of the year, for it is one of the excellent forms of worship!Tip: Increase your recitation by adding a few minutes or pages to your usual recitation routine. If you don’t have a routine yet, maybe this is the time for you start forming the habit. Begin by committing to recite at least one or two pages (or for 10 minutes, if you are a slow reciter) and then work to increase on this. Carry a small pocket mus’haf with you or install a reliable Qur’an app on a mobile device so that Shaytan cannot discourage you when you are out and about! Note: It is also very relevant to read the story of Prophet Ibrahim ‘alayhi’l-salām (peace be upon him) which will give one a deeper understanding of the rituals of Hajj and the qurbani.
Showing exemplary character: The Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said, “Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language.” [At- Tirmidhi] So we must aim to be the best in character during these blessed days and nights and continue to do so for the rest of the year. We must not argue, swear, backbite, slander or gossip.Tip: Make an extra effort to be good to your friends, family, and neighbours, and especially those of other faiths.
Giving much in charity: As the rewards of doing good deeds during these days are increased significantly then we should also give as much as we can in charity.Allah promised forgiveness of our sins if we give in charity and give to the poor and needy. He honoured our charity and described it as a “ beautiful loan to Allah “ to emphasise that we are doing something good that He loves, and that He himself will pay our loan back to us doubled:”If ye loan to Allah a beautiful loan, He will double it to your (credit), and He will grant you Forgiveness: for Allah is Most Ready to appreciate (service), Most Forbearing.” [Surah At-Taghabun:17] Tip: Have some change with you at all times to hand out when the opportunity arises. If you don’t have the opportunity to give out money in public, go online and resolve to donate a fixed amount every morning! If you don’t have money, remember that even a smile is considered charity – so go on and spread some good cheer!
Respecting and honouring our parents: Islam teaches us that of the most beloved deeds to Allah, having respect for one’s parents is second only to that of prayer and is greater than that of fighting in His cause. It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Mas’ood raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him), who observed: “I asked Allah’s Messenger ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) which deed was the best.” He (the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)) replied: ‘The Prayer at its appointed hour.’ I (again) asked: “Then what?” He (the Holy Prophet) replied: ‘Kindness to the parents.’ I (again) asked: “Then what?” He replied: ‘Earnest struggle (Jihad) in the cause of Allah.’ I refrained from asking any more questions for fear of annoying him. [Sahih Muslim] Tip: Make an extra effort to spend time with them during these blessed days. Recite Qur’an with them, read a book together, discuss a lecture you heard, share your plans for the future and seek their input. Drive your father to the masjid if he is unable to walk there and earn reward for doing so, or call them a few more times in the day if they live far away.
Doing many nawafil (superogatory) prayers: Rabi’ah ibn Malik al-Aslami reported that the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said:”Ask (anything).” Rabi’ah said: “I ask of you to be your companion in paradise. ” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Or anything else?” Rabi’ah said: “That is it.” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said to him: “Then help me by making many prostrations (i.e., supererogatory prayers).” [Abu Dawud] The following are sunnah and nawafil prayers to pray during the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah:- Pray 12 raka’ahs of sunnah daily along with the fardh prayers. Umm Habibah Ramilah bint Abu Sufyan raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrated she heard the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) saying: “A house will be built in Paradise for every Muslim who offers twelve units of prayers other than the obligatory ones in day and night, to seek pleasure of Allah.” [Muslim] Umm Habibah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever sticks to the habit of offering four rak`ahs before Noon Prayer & four rak`ahs after it, Allah will shield him against the Hell-Fire.” [Sunan An-Nasai]- Salaatul Duhaa: The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) is reported to have said: Whoever prayed twelve rakaats (before midday), then Allah will, as a reward, prepare a palace of gold for him in Paradise. [Sunan An-Nasai]- Two raka’ahs sunnah after entering the masjid: Abu Qatadah raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrated the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) as saying: “If any one of you enters a mosque, he should pray two rak`ahs before sitting.” [Abi Dawud]- Tahiyyatul wudhu: – 2 raka’ahs sunnah after performing wudhu (ablution). Abu Hurayrah raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) reported the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) saying to Bilal raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him): “Tell me about the best of your deeds (i.e. one which you deem the most rewarding) since your embracing Islam because I heard your footsteps in front of me in Paradise.” Bilal raḍyAllāhu ‘anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) replied: “I do not consider any act of mine more rewarding than that whenever I make ablution at any time of night or day, I perform Prayer for as much as was destined for me to do.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]- Tahajjud prayer: The most virtuous nawafil (voluntary) prayer is the Tahajjud prayer as it enables one to get closer to Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He). The best recitation of the Qur’an is done during Tahajjud prayer. You should recite as much of the Qur’an as you have memorised. In the long prostrations, beg Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He) for forgiveness and mercy and surely He will never turn away his slaves who beg of him during this prayer.Note: During the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah we should aim to pray Tahajjud every night. If not then we should pray it in as many nights as we possibly can. When fasting during the first 9 days of Dhul Hijjah one should awaken a little earlier for Suhur, make wudhu and pray Tahajjud. The last third portion of the night is the most blessed part of the night in which duas are more readily accepted during this time. So by praying Tahajjud it gives us the best opportunity to get closer to Allah and to make sincere dua, repenting for our sins past and present and to beg, cry and ask of Allah for whatever we want.Tip: Before you go to bed each night, use the Productive Muslim Taskinator to block out time for these additional acts of worship. You are more likely to get something done if you allocate time for it. As the saying goes – what gets scheduled, gets done!
Increase in glorification & remembrance of Allah: As His creations we should all remember and glorify our creator as much as we possibly can, but even more so during these blessed days. The following are some easy and very beneficial dhikr and glorification we can do throughout these blessed days and nights. – Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd – Subhanallah – Alhamdulillah – Allahu Akbar – Laa ilaha ilallah – La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah – Asthaghfirullah – SubhanAllahil azeem wa bihamdihi – Subhāna-llāhi, wa-l-hamdu li-llāhi, wa lā ilāha illā-llāhu, wa-llāhu akbar. Wa lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-aliyyi-l-azīm – Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu yuhyi wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyu-llā yamūtu abadan abada, ḏū-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, biyadihi-l-khayr, wa huwa alā kulli Shay-in qadīr or the shortened version Laa ilaaha illal-laahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay-in qadeerOne can also recite the durood that one recites towards the end of one’s salaah or the shortest durood: Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallim.Tip: Have something in your environment or on your person as a reminder for dhikr. It could be a special ring that you wear or a sticker placed on your desk or car wind shield.
Making much dua: Almighty Allah says in the Qur’an, “When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.” [Suratul Baqarah:186] We should busy ourselves in Dua during these 10 blessed days and nights particularly on the night and day of Arafat which is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. Duas are also readily accepted during fasting, especially just before Suhur ends and just before breaking the fast.
Making life changes: We should make the necessary changes to improve ourselves as Muslims and what better time to make such changes than during these blessed 10 days where we can change our lives forever? We must internalise these changes and make a firm commitment to Allah , and maybe that he will wipe off our sins until we become newborn babies, In sha Allah. Therefore let us make the best of these blessed days and make the necessary changes so that we may live a life devoted to Allah. We should aim to rectify our condition and live for the Hereafter rather than living for this world which can end at any second for any one of us. Allah tells us In the Qur’an to enter fully into our deen (way of life) and not partly:
“O believers enter into Islam completely and do not follow the footsteps of Shaitan, surely he is your clear-cut enemy….” [Surah Al-Baqarah:208-210]
So then will we not make Islam a FULL part of our lives? This is our best opportunity and if we don’t grab it now and death comes to us then surely we will regret it for ETERNITY! Surely there is no logic in putting all of our efforts into a short, temporary life which can end at any second and neglect that which will last forever. Knowing this then why do we put everything into this life and neglect the Hereafter? Time is passing us by and we are blinded by the deception of this life. Time is not on our side. This life is very short indeed. It is like a quick passing phase. It is a short stopover in our journey to the eternal Afterlife.
This short life is our only one opportunity to build our Hereafter. In the Hereafter we will want to be taken back to this life in order to live it again so that we can worship Allah. But we will not be able to. So let us prepare for the Hereafter and our inevitable death before preparations are made for our funerals.
May Allah enable us to make the best of these blessed days and nights and make it a means of our success in this world and in the Hereafter. Ameen.

Update for the Void
I wanted to let you all know, by all I mean me, I wanted to relay to you so that I can relay to me where we currently stand.
This whole past week I have been unable to write properly because of well reasons. My insides were shutting down on me for God knows what purpose my immune system was not being helpful and when I get sick my brain sort of relapses into a Sick-Fizzy-Daze in which I spent 2014 and with it come back all sorts of the old insecurities in which I tell myself that no one possibly understands or cares about me and that there is no way in which that I can possibly carry on and that I really can’t accomplish anything because no one believes in me or supports it or could ever want to support it and for some reason that really really kills my motivation to write.
Today, however, was Eid. and I started taking Ibuprofen since yesterday because of cramps since tylenol has no effects on cramps well the ibuprofen also worked wonders on the rest of my state and i was feeling much better for the majority of Eid. And I discovered this ADORABLE k-drama about a publishing company, an author and a newly hired publisher and just it filled me with passion for the book world again, and amma baba were all in such a good mood for Eid. I think that’s what it really was. Amma, Baba felt happy today after a really really stressful week. I could practically feel the stress radiating off them this whole past week, but they were feeling alright and good today. I think i too was feeling not so sick and alright and good today and was dressed up and walking about and participating a lil bit more than I have been the past week and so all of that combined made me feel way way wayyyy better.
So even though, I have still been attempting to write sporadically all week. I am still only on Chapter 22. However, I really shouldn’t despair because even if writing was happening very very (VERY) slowly writing was still happening. and Today a great chunk of it was done. 1,137 words to be exact. All in the last few hours. (yeah i know speed is not the greatest right now). But it’s almost there. it will get done. and it will happen. and inshallah inshallah inshallah there are so many prayers happening. so many so many so many prayers. <3 <3 <3 God forgive me, God please love me, God know I love you, God please forgive me. God I thank you. Allhamdulillah, Subhanallah, MaShaAllah, Alhamdulillah, Subhanallah Inshallah Inshallah Inshallah!!!!!!!
