Shinar and Kumat
This is a map I made of a historical fantasy setting inspired by ancient Egypto-Nubian and Mesopotamian cultures. The names are taken from history for the most part, but there are a few Biblical names thrown in as well. The story I currently have in mind for this setting involves a conflict between the Shinarites and the Kumatians, with their respective pantheons taking an active interest in how things play out.

I wonder if there's any substrate in ancient Egyptian from their post apocalyptic phase
Afrasian is well known to not have much common lexicon at all and yes, it seem fairly probable most branches would have some sort of a substrate behind them.
After several millennia, it might be hard to figure out anything specific about the Egyptian case (while e.g. at least some parts of Cushitic must have spread over relatively more recent substrates, and in turn the Cushitic substrate in most/?all of Ethio-Semitic is well-known) — but for one possible opening this brings to mind, there's been some theories about a special relationship of Egyptian and Chadic, and that kind of evidence maybe could also be not original Egypto-Chadic inheritance, but rather either Egypt having absorbed something Chadic, or some related contact influence in both.
