LUCKI ANNOUNCES THE GEMINI TOUR – KICKING OFF 7/18
Tumblr media
Chicago underground icon turned national rap mainstay, LUCKI has just announced that his first US headlining tour, The Gemini Tour, will kick off on July 18th in Raleigh, NC. Produced by Live Nation, the 27-date tour will make stops in Miami, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boston, Brooklyn, and more before wrapping up on September 7th in Atlanta, GA. The forthcoming tour will support his new album GEMIN! which is set for release on June 14th. The recently-released 2-pack of singles titled 2 Faced Pt. 2 (the Coupe-produced "Heavy On My Heart" and the Brent Rambo-produced "Courtesy Of") served as the first glimpse into LUCKI's forthcoming follow-up to 2023's s*x m*ney dr*gs, with the former serving as an upbeat outing buoyed by LUCKI's candid bars over a soulful instrumental while the latter is a hard-hitting victory lap draped in his distinct raspy flow. A longtime staple of Chicago’s underground scene, LUCKI’s hazy cloud rap confessionals saw the then-teenager grow a cult following in the Windy City and beyond before garnering mainstream recognition with his 2022 debut album FLAWLESS LIKE ME (which boasted appearances from Future and Babyface Ray) and hit track “New Drank”(200M+ Streams). The upcoming album marks LUCKI’s first full-length outing since the aforementioned s*x m*ney dr*gs and arrives on the heels of a high-profile appearance on “Broke phone” (7M+ Streams) from Veeze's 2023 album Ganger as well as a strong run of 2024 singles, including “PAIDNFULL”, “COLORFUL DRUGS”, and most recently “All Love”, where he linked with Lyrical Lemonade for a Cole Bennett-directed music video, as well as a guest outing on Southside’s latest track “Elegant”.
Serving as the debut offerings from LUCKI’s upcoming fourth full-length album GEMIN!, “Heavy On My Heart” and “Courtesy Of” are the initial foray into what will be a busy summer for the Chicago-grown artist. He’s currently slated to make appearances at both Rolling Loud and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this summer before embarking on his first US headlining tour, The Gemini Tour throughout the summer. LUCKI also recently dropped two trailers for the forthcoming album – "2 FacedSlatt :(" & "2 FacedSlatt :)", showing off the two different sides of himself embracing his mafioso-like stature in the rap game. Both, along with the two new singles, are showing off the two different sides that make up LUCKI as an artist – someone who's grown from an underground Chicago mainstay into an international star with critical acclaim, using his hazy cloud rap confessionals to pave the way for the sound of modern Hip-Hop. With his GEMIN! era officially in motion, LUCKI is continuing to assert his legacy while proving just how far his movement has carried over the past decade.

Ella Mai Will Bring Her ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ Album On A North American Tour
January 25, 2023 6:17 AM PST
Tumblr media
Ella Mai announced that she would be going on tour in 2023.
via: Rap-Up
The R&B singer has announced dates for her “Heart on My Sleeve” tour. The 34-date trek kicks off March 31 in Wallingford, Conn. and travels across North America, with stops in New York, Atlanta, Miami, and Los Angeles, wrapping June 1 in Toronto.
The tour comes in support of her latest album Heart on My Sleeve, which was released in May. A deluxe edition is set for release on Feb. 2.
“The deluxe tracks are some of my favorite songs currently so I’m happy to be able to share them with the world,” said Ella. “I get to bring new life to a body of work that is a year old but remains very close to my heart. Likewise with the Heart On My Sleeve Tour. This is the first time I’m getting to perform some of these tracks live. It’s almost like reading your diary aloud in front of an audience, but there’s no better place for me to be vulnerable than in my music and on stage with my fans.”
This will be Ella’s third headlining tour since 2018. She most recently joined Mary J. Blige on her “Good Morning Gorgeous Tour” last fall.
Tickets go on sale Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. local time, with a pre-sale starting Jan. 25. See dates below.

WHO: Stitched Up Heart DATE: November 29, 2019 WHERE: Indianapolis, IN VENUE: Egyptian Room at Old National Centre CAMERA USED: Canon EOS R LENS USED: Canon RF 24-105 TAKEN BY: Shana Myers
I’ll be honest. I had never heard of this band before I was asked to cover this show. I fully expected to go in there, take these pictures, watch their set and leave completely unimpressed due to not listening to their music before the show. Sometimes you can’t understand what a person is saying, sometimes the instruments are louder than the voice of the singer, and its all just a bad mixture the leads me straight to wishing a set was over. However, the moment I heard Alecia sing, I was amazed. It’s a very rare occasion when I end liking an opening act and not knowing who it is. It’s happened four times since I’ve been going to concerts. For me, it’s the artists voice that draws me in far before their performance on stage. But this band had it all. They had a fantastic stage presence, which made you want to keep watching them. I would be more than happy to go see these guys again if given the chance.

St. Vincent @ The Egyptian Room, Old National Centre in Indianapolis
I had the first-time pleasure of seeing St. Vincent in concert. It was a tremendous performance and one of the most unique concerts I’ve ever attended. It was also my first time at the Old National Centre in Indianapolis. After a relaxing dinner at the nearby Scottish pub MacNiven’s, I entered the Egyptian Room, a small venue with a capacity of 2,000. Considering that St. Vincent is playing at the much larger Chicago Theater in my home town, I was glad I had the opportunity to see her here in a more intimate setting.
The article (link below) does a very nice job of summarizing the concert so I will offer a condensed overview here. It was a three-part show. Part I was a horror-comedy film co-written and directed by Annie Clark (St. Vincent). It is a segment of the four-part horror film  XX. Part II, St. Vincent takes the stage with just a partial curtain drawn on stage right and no back drop or props. Just stage curtains in the background and Annie with her guitar and a microphone. She has no band with her and performs along with a backing track. She moves to different parts of the stage for each song with the stage curtain opening a bit more each time. This set is made up of songs from her earlier albums. Part II ends with her at center stage as the curtain closes. After a quick costume change, Part III starts and Clark performs the entire new Masseduction album along with accompanying video backdrops. I love the new album and hearing it performed from start to finish was a thrill. She is every bit a performance artist and the videos along with her beautiful voice, searing electric guitar riffs, stage presence and style made the show a treat for both the ears and eyes. She is an incredible talent and I felt that with this album and tour, she has either reached a summit in her career or is at the tipping point of even better things to come. I think the latter will be true and I am happy that I was able to see her act at a time of her best output thus far.
