Let’s see how to make Idli Pindi Sandwich
Let’s see another breakfast idea for kids.
I have already made a video on how to make idli sandwich, link will be in the description.
Here I took 1 cup idli batter, add some water to it
Pour water till normal idli batter consistency is obtained
Now add 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix
Then Add 1 /4 teaspoon soda, 2 teaspoon oil and mix
Put a spoon of this aside for the green chutney
Here I used green chutney to make the sandwich
Any other chutney like coriander leaves chutney or sauce could be used
The green chutney used here is made by using mint leaves, coriander leaves, ginger green chillies, lemon juice, salt and grinding them all together
Mix this chutney with the 1 spoon idli batter we put aside
It is now time to steam the idli batter prepared before
Steam these idlis
We will need a wide bowl to make the sandwich
First, spread oil on the pan
Now, pour half of the idli batter in the pan
If you want the sandwich to be thinner, pour less batter or else make the layer thicker
Carefully spread the batter all over the pan
Then Pour 2 glasses of water in a steamer or bowl and boil it
As the water gets to boil, place a stand inside the bowl and put the idli bowl on the stand
Close the lid of steamer and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame
Open the lid after 5 minutes, we can see that the idli batter hardened a little
Put the stove on low flame and spread the green chutney over the cooked idli
Close lid and cook for 5 more minutes
Open the lid. We can see that the green chutney has also hardened.
Now, pour the rest of the batter on top of this green chutney
Close lid and cook for 15 minutes
Pole with a knife to see if the idli has cooked all the way
If the knife comes out clean, then it means that the idli sandwich has cooked perfectly
Take it out from the steamer and let it cool down
After it cools down a bit, separate the edge of the bowl and the sandwich with a knife
Then flip it using a plate
Flip it again
Cut this idli sandwich into pieces of desired size and shape
We can see that the idli sandwich looks yummy with 3 layers
We can also prepare tempering for it like we make for dokhla
For tempering, heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan
Then Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds and fry
Then Add 2 sliced green chillies, 1/2 cup curry leaves and fry
A pinch of asafoetida could also be added
Spread this tempering over the idli sandwich
Tasty special breakfast, idli sandwich is ready to serve!
Let’s see how to make Crispy Attu
If there is leftover idli batter and it has turned sour, you can use it to make this crispy attu recipe
To a mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup bombay rava and mix it with water till idli batter consistency is obtained and mix it
Add a pinch of salt along with chopped onions, 1 chopped green chilli, 2 tablespoons grated carrots, chopped coriander leaves, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and mix
Then Add some water and mix
Let it sit for 10 minutes and then add 1 cup idli batter
Make the batter very thin by adding water
Then Heat pan and spread oil on it
Pour the dosa batter on the pan and cook on high flame for 2-3 minutes
Flip after one side turns brown and cook for another couple of minutes
These dosas can be consumed for 2-3 days. These are great for journeys.
I hope you liked all my recipes.
