after seeing the drug pump used on lou lou and haymitch, i’m absolutely convinced this is how snow hijacked peeta.

instead of being strapped to a bed with tubes in his arms as he watched clips of him and katniss, snow probably had situations where he let peeta go around his normal day and then gave him something that wa a subtle reminder of his games and pumped him with the tracker jacker venom at moments where he wouldn’t even expect it.

He operates from a crappy office in The Last Drop and the only attributes of wealth he has are cigars and whiskey(?). My man had one pair of pants for 10+ years and only got a fancy coat to look more intimidating. Besides, when chembarons proposed to give back the gemstone to Piltover so their sales don't drop even harder Silco refused. Also he was ready to give up his power when Jayce made imprisoning Jinx a requirement for Zaun to gain independence. Sure, he IS motivated to keep his daughter safe, but it would also mean that his goal will finally be achieved, so there's nothing left for him to do. Both wealth and power are only means to achieve a goal to him. He also doesn't really display that he gets the kick out of it, unlike councilors in Piltover.

"Well yes he wants Zaun to be independent, but only as he personally sees it" when did he EVER say that??😭😭😭😭 Every time he speaks on the topic he only mentions how he wants Zaunites to have opportunities, respect, "more than (Piltover's) runoff". Like- that's literally everything he ever said about this. All that matters to him is independence, he couldn't care less about everything else.

As to "losing his way"...idk I think this can only be attributed to pre-drowning Silco. Because after it he pretty much decided to stick to what he now believed in forever, and at no point except the finale he went south from his beliefs.

Silco isn't "misguided" or "corrupt" or any other similar definition. He's a character who chose to become a monster to bring change to his people. And as s2 didn't do anything about resolving this conflict, he was never really proven wrong.

rewatching ep 1 of the terror and i love that thing they do a couple times on the ship where they start a scene with the camera outside of the room the characters are in, and we can hear them speaking to each other but we can't fully see them, and the camera moves as we listen to them talk, getting closer to being able to see them. and it's so unsettling for some reason, especially since you know it's a horror show, and your brain is just going "what am i going to see, what is going on over there" and almost always nothing is revealed once the camera reaches the room, it's just men having a conversation. but the fact that it's *hidden* from you creates this anticipation. idk if it's just a cool cinemographic way to create tension, or emphasize the lack of privacy in these tight quarters, or if it's like about Officers Country, and how when the regular men aren't allowed in those spaces, they're also going to be imagining the possibilities of what they aren't being allowed to see.

but anyway the fact that they introduce Francis and Jopson in that way is insane. Two men, mostly obscured behind a door, standing close and facing each other, one is doing something with his hands. They speak while the camera slowly approaches and finally reveals that Jopson's just repairing his shirt, nothing to see here. And then the "is there anything special you require, sir?" as Jopson bends down to bite the string off Francis' sleeve. insane!!!!??

I will assume this question is about who would be the best character to comfort Akane in the current arc (chap 121), if so I'll have to take off my shipping goggles for a moment and be real with you Anon: Neither Aoi or Teru are a good option, both would suck at comforting him.

I think Aoi would be a bit better, but that's mostly because Teru would not comfort Akane: He just lost his little brother, there is no way comforting Akane even crossed his mind. The situation is so dire that when Akane tried to comfor him, Teru ignored him.

He does seem somewhat aware Akane is trying to help but at no point does Teru reach for Akane back or even face him. Teru is closed off: He doesn't want a hug. He does not have the strenght to get up for Akane's sake, much less be an emotional support right now.

Teru does still deeply cares about Akane despite prioritizing his grief over Kou's fresh death, but it's clear he is in fight mode, ready to act, not to slow down and comfort someone.

If they survive I bet Teru will either shut down the second the enemy is defeated or force his tired body to run after Nene because he need to go to the old world. He need to.

What if Akane gets extremelly injured? Then he will help get Akane out of the house but even on such scenario, I still can't see him comforting Akane. The last time Akane was gravely injured he didn't take it seriously.

And even when he did start taking his injuries serious (when they got to the Near Shore), he was not gentle or caring, he straight up dragged Akane on the floor.

Teru get shit done when there is an emergency. He does not comfort.

Now let's talk about Aoi.

Aoi displays the same "I will save you!" behavior as Teru but she pay far more attention to Akane than Teru, being reactive to his comfort/touch despite their dire situation.

She is also more 'fuctional', brieftly attempting to comfort Akane in the chapter.

This is very good! There is a far higher chance that she'll be openly worried about Akane if they survive! They can talk as they follow Nene or rest beside each other if they are too hurt to keep going, but there is a big problem: Aoi does not remember the old timeline.

How well can she comfort Akane? She is a stranger to the world they miss. She cannot understand what he fight for. They don't know each other as well as they believe they do.

Not being able to speak about the old world is a HUGE dissadvantage, make it hard to connect on a deeper level, but she does still have their nightmarish situation to relate to, and she would still try to comfort him/seek his comfort.

She can't give him a good speech, (considering the engagement situation I don't think she would be good at talking with him at all) but she can hold his hand and show concern over any injuries when he inevitably show concern over her. She can openly show she cares if there is no social pressure involved... Considering how much bolder this new timeline Aoi is, she could even hug him! Which would be an extremelly comforting but carries the risk of becoming a bittersweet memory only Akane will remember.

(If new timeline Aoi can't remember the old timeline, there is no guarantee that old Aoi will remember anything about the new timeline)

This memory risk make it so any possible bonding (maybe Akane vents to her, maybe they talk about their worlds differences to distract themselves, anything could happen....) will hurt Akane after, cause he'll have to say goodbye before he properly get to know this Aoi.

would you ever consider making a dbhc timeline with links to each comic/work attached to the moments? it would be a lot of work so totally understandable if not, but as i go through the timeline you posted i've been wanting to find and reread the comics associated with many the events

Ouuhh, yeah, I briefly considered it, but it would make the timeline post really long and complicated I think (bc the timelines are hand drawn so I’d have to like… put all of the links under a read more, which would be a lot of back and forth anyway b/w scrolling up to the timeline and scrolling down to find the corresponding link), so I decided against it. The best thing to do is just pull up Character Post Lists in a separate tab, since everything is already chronologically organized there (plus, there’s still important enough in-between stuff on the character post lists that aren’t on the timeline—I don’t want to give the impression that anything is “unimportant” just because it isn’t on the timeline).

More than anything else, I just wanted the timeline to be like, an additional tool/visual to clarify and give y’all a better idea of the vague order of events, not a definitive source for everything (hence my noting that not everything is on the time). I know you end up with a bunch of tabs open, which is less than ideal :( but I really don’t want to de-incentivize the character post lists bc those are what take the most time to put together and update. Hopefully all of that makes enough sense!

The batfam (+peter) in Twisted Wonderland has been stewing in the back of my mind and i just find it silly to think about them interacting with Malleus since its implied part of the reason he likes yuu so much it's cuz they don't act scared of him and treat him like any other person (and have invited him to events) and i think the batfam may be able to fall on his good side thanks to that, what do you think?

oh 100000% malleus would be their friend. the batfam sees the wildest shit every day of their lives and malleus wouldn't even make top ten. "oh you're a magical dragon wizard prince from an alternate dimension? why would anyone be scared of you?" (said so seriously). and with peter he has an innate ability to make friends with people so quickly once they pass a vibe check. their first conversation would be peter being like "ok but can you turn into a dragon cause that would be sick as fuck. what? no im not scared. you should turn into a dragon. ugh why would i be scared of you? i stick to walls, my guy. huh? did no one tell you i can do that? holy shit this is about to be so fun i'll show you my tricks and then you turn into a dragon."
