Carta de Victoria Ocampo a Eduardo Mallea
Tumblr media

Never had a wow moment that makes you fall in love with the film. Plot felt predictable during major scenes. The tension was never off the radar. I did like the color palette and production design.

Hi gouys! This is the Sans Souci Palace, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This house is set to be in a 64x64 Lot. You will need all cc from The Jim, Felixandre, SYB, Marble Mortal, GSsims, etc. It is the usual content I use for my houses.
I made the third floor but it is not completed. In fact, the residence does not have this 3rd floor, but the roof looked weird w/o it.
Some history:
The Sans Souci Palace, located in Victoria, is undoubtedly one of the architectural landmarks not only of San Fernando but also of the northern region. This December marks 100 years since its official inauguration. Its history is intertwined with the history of the neighborhood, and its construction marked a turning point in the urban vision of the district's waterfront.
To briefly recount its history, we can go back to 1911 when the Alvear siblings, Carlos María, Josefina, and Elisa, married to Mercedes Elortondo, Matías Errázuriz, and Ernesto Bosch, respectively, traveled to Paris, France, in search of an architect to design their residences on the embankments of the area. The three couples chose the trendy architect of the time: René Sergent, considered the best in neoclassical and Versailles-style architecture.
The French architect also built the Bosch Palace in Buenos Aires, which serves as the official residence of the United States ambassador, and the Errázuriz Palace, now the Museum of Decorative Arts. The Sans Souci palace, owned by Carlos María de Alvear and his family, was the last of the three projects to be designed.
In 1914, the builders Eduardo Lanús and Pablo Hary laid the foundation stone of the Palace on the land inherited by Alvear's wife in Victoria, San Fernando. In December 1918, it was officially inaugurated.
Its four facades are made of imitation stone. The stairs are made of Paris marble, while the rest of the details and finishes, although they appear to be genuine, are imitations. The imitation marble was created by Swiss craftsmen from the Italian canton who were specialists in this technique. All the carpentry in the Sans Souci Palace was made of Slavonian oak. The doors were painted to imitate the wood grain, giving them identical marks.
The gardens, which initially covered 9 hectares, were designed by the French landscape architect Carlos Thays. During the construction of the Palace, Alvear tried to buy the neighboring property belonging to the Lanusse family with the intention of demolishing it and expanding his garden. However, the Lanusse family never agreed, so a huge wall was built. Thays not only organized the garden but also planted a group of trees to hide the large wall, making it appear as though the house extended further.

Una lluvia de plata - A Shower of Silver

Fandom: Encanto (2021) Characters: Mirabel Madrigal, Bruno Madrigal Rating: G Category: Shippy Gen (thank you, AO3 and the crowd at @thirty-plus-fanfic) Word Count: 850

Inspired by @litel27-2point0's wonderful comic, Happy Birthday Mirabel
Mirabel shares her birthday with Gabriel García Márquez, the author of "One Hundred Years of Solitude": March 6. There aren't any major "established" meteor showers in March, but there are hundreds that have occurred occasionally through the year that have been spotted and logged by astronomers, at least 13 of which are in March: https://www.ta3.sk/IAUC22DB/MDC2007/Roje/roje_lista.php.
-------------------------
Mirabel's 20th birthday, like most of her birthdays, was a low-key, family-only affair. This wasn't because no one cared; it was because her birthday usually fell during Lent, the time of year when a big, loud party was inappropriate. She was just glad that the year she turned fifteen, Easter was late enough for her quinceañera to fall during the final days of carneval.
After the coffee and her cake were finished, Mirabel thanked her family again and packed up their gifts to bring to her room (her room, the one she had waited for for most of her life). Tío Bruno had given her a spindle rack, loaded with three new spindles, all of which he had carved himself. She loved the little metal butterflies he had decorated the whorls with.
After Mirabel put the rest of her family's gifts away, she decided to do a little spinning while saying her bedtime prayers. She opened up the new rack to try one of Tío Bruno's spindles, and a slip of paper fell out.
As much time as they spent working on the rat telenovela together and discussing everything from cryptic remarks in Padre Flores' most recent Sunday sermon to how best to engineer a chance encounter between two characters who couldn't remember which towns they came from, she couldn't imagine that he would have anything to tell her that he hadn't wanted to share with the whole family over dinner or couldn't wait until the next evening's production meeting.
Meet me at midnight My rats will lead you. ~ B
Realizing that it was only nine o'clock, she changed into her nightdress and tried sleeping for a few hours. She asked Casita to set the alarm clock, but it was unnecessary - she was far too excited to sleep. She clutched the note, repeatedly re-reading it, as if she might find a missing clue.
Shortly before midnight, Mirabel changed back into her day clothes and shoes; she didn't care to crawl through the walls or up to the roof barefoot and in her nightdress. Right on time, three rats (Victoria, Eduardo, and Sofía, she was pretty sure) climbed onto her desk and squeaked at her. "Okay, okay, okay… lead the way," she whispered to them, and they filed off the desk and to her door. She let them out and followed them down the stairs and out the (her!) front door.
They led her around the back of Casita and past Isabela and Mamá's kitchen garden, past the chicken pen, past the stables, through… the lower pastures? Where were they taking her?
Mirabel climbed up a hill behind them towards the upper meadows, and in the middle of the second clearing, she finally saw another person. She and the rats came nearer, and she could make out her uncle, sitting on a large blanket that she recognized as the one she had spun and woven from her share of the coarse wool carded away from the much softer layer used for clothes. She had told Bruno that it was a great blanket for outdoors when she gave it to him for his birthday, and was happy to see it getting used.
But she was still at a loss for what on earth they were doing so far from the village. Not even any of the town sheep flocks were in that field.
"Tío Bruno," she greeted him.
"Mirabel, right on time," he replied, sounding as if he hadn't been sure that she would come.
"What's this all about?"
"I'll tell you, but you'll have to sit down first." He motioned for her to join him on the blanket.
"Okay, what's next?"
"It's not one of the major meteor showers, but I first noticed it a few nights ago, and it keeps getting stronger. Look up, it's already starting."
Mirabel saw the usual canopy of stars on a clear night during the waning days of the lunar cycle, but frankly, nothing worth hiking half an hour at midnight for, aside from the usual pleasure she took in hanging around with Tío Bruno.
Which she could have done at home, at some time that was not in the middle of the night.
His head tipped back and eyes staring, Bruno's mind was already somewhere far beyond their valley. She shrugged and tried emulating him.
And gasped as several falling stars radiated from a point near Virgo. Their pace intermittently, then steadily, increased.
She glanced over at Bruno, who had a small smile on his face, and occasionally saw one of the silver sparks reflected in his eyes.
"I'm sorry if I kept you awake, and I know you'll be busy soon," he said, gaze still flicking after the short-lived trails of light, "but I didn't want you to miss this on your birthday." He looked at her a little nervously. "Do you like it?"
"I love it," she replied, and leaned into his shoulder.
"Happy birthday, Mirabel," he said, putting his arm around her.
She snuggled deeper into his side to watch the fireworks El Señor had put on for them.
