Bandai Japan Announces Tamagotchi Original Japan Edition Part 2

Part 1 were those beautiful Kaga Yuzen Tamagotchi Original shells, and now part 2 is here! Part 2 consists of two Maneki Neko (a common Japanese beckoning cat figurine believed to bring good luck tot he owner),

Edo Kimekomi (traditional Japanese craft of making small, finely crafted wooden dolls dressed in Japanese silk textiles) doll.

Available in both Mametchi (P1) which has a purple sparkly shell with Japanese flowers and graphics surrounding the screen and Maneki Neko Mametchi at the top along with pink buttons! Mimitchi is also available (P2), featuring a red sparkly shell with Japanese flowers and graphics surrounding the screen, and Maneki Neko Mimitchi at the top along with blue buttons.

These shells are exclusive to Japan, and will be available January 25th, 2025 with preorders open on Thursday, December 12th, 2024 on Amazon and Rakuten Japan.

An Edo kimekomi kabuto (samurai helmet) made by kimekomi dollmaker Kakinuma Toko and designer Atsushi Onuma. Since they are associated with bravery and parents’ wishes for their sons to grow up to be healthy and courageous, models of kabuto and other armor and weapons used by samurai are frequently used in Children’s Day/Boys’ day displays.

"Kimekomi Dolls originated in Kyoto in the 18th century and are made by engraving gutters in the wood of the doll's body and fitting the fabric that will serve as the doll's costume to the gutters. The traditional costumes of Kimekomi Dolls are reproductions of imperial court dress from the 8th to 12th centuries Japan and have attracted doll collectors from around the world as a miniature version of the kimono.
