Middle East and Africa Beer Adjuncts Market Outlook, Analysis, Report 2022-2029
BlueWeave Consulting, a leading strategic consulting and market research firm, in its recent study, estimated the Middle East and Africa beer adjuncts market size at USD 2.51 billion in 2022. During the forecast period between 2023 and 2029, BlueWeave expects the Middle East and Africa beer adjuncts market size to grow at a CAGR of 4.83% reaching a value of USD 3.32 billion by 2029. The Middle East and Africa beer adjuncts market is influenced by several key driving factors, including a growing consumer demand for diverse beer flavors and types, leading breweries' efforts to innovate and experiment with ingredients, a rising preference for craft and artisanal beers, and the region's expanding young population seeking new beverage experiences. Also, the increasing disposable income in some Middle Eastern and African countries contributes to higher beer consumption and the exploration of unique adjuncts. Regulatory changes, such as relaxed alcohol laws in certain regions, further stimulate market growth, as does the cultural acceptance and integration of beer into social and dining experiences.
Beer Adjuncts – Overview
Beer adjuncts are non-malt ingredients added to beer during the brewing process to enhance flavor, body, or other characteristics. Common adjuncts include grains like corn, rice, wheat, and oats, as well as sugars, fruits, spices, and even coffee. While traditional brewing methods adhere to the purity law (Reinheitsgebot) that limits ingredients to water, malt, hops, and yeast, adjuncts can add unique flavors and textures to beer. They are often used in lighter lagers and American-style beers to lighten the body and reduce production costs. The use of adjuncts is a subject of debate among beer enthusiasts, with some favoring traditional methods and others embracing innovation.

Energy companies in Africa
Energy companies in Africa have a critical role to play in the socio-economic development of the continent. This is because energy access is an important prerequisite for economic development in any nation. According to the World Bank, energy access “has impacts on a wide range of development indicators, including health, education, food security, gender equality, livelihoods, and poverty reduction”. Facilitating development must be at the core of business goals for energy companies in Africa.
This is why at Axxela, our vision is to drive industrial growth in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing natural gas as an alternative fuel that is cost-effective, environmentally friendly and is in abundant supply within the continent to meet the increasing demand for energy in the region. In achieving this, we have over 280km in gas pipeline infrastructure and four established subsidiaries that provide unique energy solutions across West Africa.
Our four serving energy companies in Africa include:
Gaslink Nigeria Limited (GNL)
In conjunction with the Nigerian Gas Marketing Company (NGMC), Gaslink (GNL), operates an exclusive gas distribution franchise in the Greater Lagos area via a pipeline network of over 100km with a capacity of 140MMSCFD and peak utilisation of about 70MMSCFD. Our operations through GNL accounts for 80% of Nigeria’s domestic gas distribution to industrial and commercial concerns, with over 165 blue-chip industrial customers including Cadbury Nigeria. Plc., Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc., Dangote Sugar, and Nigerian Breweries, Plc.
Central Horizon Gas Company
Central Horizon Gas Company (CHGC) is a joint venture between Axxela and the Rivers State Government. This gas distribution company situated in the South-South region of Nigeria owns a facility of a 17km gas distribution network and a throughput capacity of 50MMSCFD. This subsidiary is actively delivering gas to end-users as a direct replacement for expensive alternative fuels. The strategy for achieving this is focusing on an established industrial customer base for which the company is becoming a major supplier of natural gas to industries in Port Harcourt.
Gas Network Services Limited
Gas Network Services Limited (GNSL) is Axxela’s pioneer venture into the compressed natural gas (CNG) virtual pipeline business. The subsidiary presently operates a 5.2MMSCFD Compressed Natural Gas Station in Lagos, Nigeria from where natural gas is compressed into mobile tube trailers and delivered to customers’ locations. The facility is 100% energy sufficient using natural gas without connection to the national grid. Among its customers include Nigeria Breweries PLC, Ibadan, Chi Limited, Rite Foods Limited, etc. Other strategic and technical partners include OPEX Limited, Transport Services Limited, FornovoGas, and Clean Energy Compression (IMW) Canada.
Transit Gas Nigeria Limited
Transit Gas Nigeria Limited (TGNL) is focused on the development of physical and virtual pipeline technology for gas distribution and supply. The subsidiary is currently developing a mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta with an initial capacity of 20MMSCFD, and a 135km pipeline network between Abeokuta and Iwopin, in partnership with the Nigeria Gas Marketing Company (NGMC). The Ajaokuta project will make it possible to supply natural gas to industrial customers all over the country, particularly stranded customers in the North. Presently, TGNL has ongoing contracts with medium to large-scale industrial customers including Apple & Pears Limited, Rite Foods Limited, West African Soy Industries Limited, Coleman Technical Industries Limited, Celplas Industries Nigeria Limited and have commenced construction of the natural gas pipeline to their factories.

According to the Star-also owned by the group- Radio Africa will sue the ‘Raverend’ for breach of contract and negligence.
The group will be seeking compensation for loss of business and reputation damage occasioned by controversial statements made by Mr. Weru during a breakfast show that he hosted alongside DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville.
According to the group, in statement: ”the media personality had received rigorous training on media regulators’ programming broadcasting regulations and codes of conduct and ethics. Including a very recent training by the Media Council of Kenya in February 2021 which covered: Ethics and Code of Conduct, Fake news and Fact checking, Interview skills, Conflict Sensitive Journalism, Hate Speech Dilemma in media.”
The latest comes in the backdrop of claims that Mr. Weru was suing his employer of 18 years for wrongful termination of his contract.
Several documents that made rounds on social media on Tuesday indicated that the former radio presenter would be seeking at least Ksh.21m in compensation.
On Sunday, Homeboyz Radio, through its parent company Radio Africa, has fired its breakfast show presenters Shaffie Weru, Neville, and DJ Joe Mfalme with immediate effect.
The trio was let go following comments they made on the station on Thursday morning about Eunice Wangari, 20, who was reportedly thrown from the 12th floor of a building by a man after refusing his sexual advances.
The remarks elicited anger from Kenyans online with many of them calling for action to be taken against the three.
The trio had earlier been suspended from the station pending investigations, during which period the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) pulled all sponsorship connected to them at the station.
The controversial remarks also saw the Communications Authority of Kenya slapping Homeboyz Radio with a Ksh.1 million fine and suspended its breakfast show for six months.
A Director General Mercy Wanjau, in a press address on Sunday, said the comments made during the breakfast show of March 25, 2021 were in violation of the provisions of the law and the Programming Code in respect to the requirement for broadcasters to air decent and family-oriented programming during the watershed period.
The State agency noted that the station’s presenters discussed sexual matters in an explicit and offensive manner and glorified sexual violence against women.
According to the State agency, the show presenters “exposed a victim of Gender Based Violence to ridicule and implied that it was the victim’s fault that she was targeted and assaulted.”
