Overwhelming Burden - Supergirl x Male Reader
Note: Fluff 🥰 and Angst 🥺
I've just read the Zero Hour 30th Anniversary comic #1 not long ago and... Honestly, it's such a good comic, biggest highlight for me is seeing Supergirl wearing a black suit with the silver S on the suit and cape, the silver belt, bracelets and black gloves (In the comic, there's instances where she's wearing black gloves or not which is a little weird but in this imagine, she'll be wearing black gloves, another image will be shown in the imagine later of her wearing black gloves) are a nice addition as well... And pants! Best suit I've seen in a while.
This is a world where Superman is dead, dead after his fight with Doomsday and where Batman never came back because he's broken, so pretty much retired and Batgirl is Gotham's Knight now while Supergirl is Metropolis's protector. Diana Prince is no where to be found so Donna Troy is the new Wonder Woman also. They what would be the New Trinity in those words.
Supergirl in this comic however is supposed to be Matrix aka Mae Kent, but DC for some reason wanted Kara Zor-El/ the original Supergirl to be mentioned in this rather than Matrix Supergirl which is a little odd but I'm not complaining. Spoiler for those but Donna named dropped Supergirl as "Kara" in the comic, so... I suppose it's Kara Zor-El, again it's a little odd, ain't complaining, I honestly don't mind.
So in other words... This imagine is inspired from this. Hope you enjoy!
Credit also goes to @bisupergirl for the pics!
Metropolis, once a city that was defended by a man who revolutionized the way Aliens were welcomed on Earth, a man that changed the world with more superheroes making their debut, along with the added threat of supervillains and those that had an agenda against him. He was a man who only found out he was in fact an Alien once he found out where he really came from.
His parents, Ma and Pa Kent, aka Martha and Jonathan, once told him he came from the stars one day, crashing down onto Earth in a small pod not far from where they lived in their farmhouse, and finding a newborn wrapped in a red cloth that would be used as his cape when he grew older to become...
Superman.
He inspired many, became Earth's Champion, defended Earth and Humanity from many threats, though he couldn't always do it alone, he eventually had allies that formed the Justice League that vowed to protect Earth from any known threat known to Humankind.
Clark Kent of the Daily Planet and from a little town called Smallville, Kal-El of Krypton, Superman, the Man of Steel, Man of Tomorrow, once an icon, a hero, a loving Husband and son to all that loved him.
He was once the fabled "Last Son of Krypton" until one day, that changed... When another pod came crashing down onto Earth, holding a young blonde haired girl, who was petrified, confused, unaware of how long it has been after being in hypersleep for many years, sent from her planet of Krypton alongside her cousin, before her pod was knocked off-course.
Kal didn't know at the time, but the arrival of this girl changed his life forever and for the better, this girl was his cousin, Kara Zor-El, who would later become Supergirl and wear the same colors and family crest, one that Clark learned more about from Kara, all about the House of El, their family, his and her parents... Some he already knew from the Fortress of Solitude that was created by the Kryptonian crystal that he put into the ice in the North Pole.
Things were going very well with Kara's introduction to Earth, adopted by the loving Danvers family, she took the name "Linda Lee Danvers" to blend in and hide her powers, though at times she wasn't great at controlling them, she was taught how to.
From going to Earth school, to meeting the one guy that she befriended, the boy named Y/N, which the two eventually began to fall for one another during high school, becoming somewhat high school sweethearts. Clark supported the fact Kara found someone she liked, someone to keep her on her toes when unexpected, she eventually introduced Clark to Y/N, letting him know of the other secret they hadn't told him yet. Their Kryptonian heritage which was a big surprise to the young boy at the time, she even took him on a flight to convince him further.
Around this time, Kara being 16 years old, she debuted as Supergirl, cousin of Superman. Embracing the whole Girl of Steel part of herself to defend her new home from enemies alike. Sporting a blue top with a red skirt and gold V-shaped belt, a short red cape with a golden S on the back as opposed to wearing the same S on her top with a red background just like her cousin, showcasing the House of El sigil proudly.
At first, the world wasn't sure how to accept Supergirl, but eventually not long after, they did with Superman's help. Kara was more happier than to be both Linda Lee Danvers and Supergirl.
But... Not everything is forever...
With some years going by and now with Kara have been Supergirl for three and a half years...
A Doomsday descended upon Earth... Many heroes answered the threat and couldn't stop it without cutting losses.
It was Superman who saved the day... But at a heavy cost...
His own life, succumbing to his wounds and the world fell silent once the news broke out.
Earth's Champion... Superman... Had been confirmed dead, giving out his life to fight Doomsday, the fight was nothing more than brutal and destructive, Metropolis was wrecked and battered by the events.
His death hit many heavily, Kara especially. There was supposed to be a surprise for Kara, before Doomsday came to be, but Y/N called the surprise off, in exchange to grieve, knowing it wouldn't be the right time to propose to the girl he has always loved.
In honor to grieve her cousin's death, Kara made the decision to change up her suit and colors, now sporting a black top, long cape and pants, with a silver V-shaped belt, bracelets and the S and shield, colored silver, even on the back of her new black cape had the S colored in silver, also supporting black gloves over her hands. The bracelets both have a diamond shaped sigil on the front, even the belt too, unlike her previous suit.
No longer blue, red and gold. Just a black and silver look, the world took notice of this change, seeing a black and blonde blur zoom past on multiple occasions throughout the world, it didn't take long for people to know it was Supergirl, now having a wardrobe change since the last time she appeared on camera months ago.
Some asked why? The obvious answer was simple... Coming from her.
"To honor my cousin" she said nothing more after. She refused to take anymore questions about anything else, it was nothing but a bother to her.
She became Metropolis's new protector, Earth's New Champion and part of the new Justice League that was put into place, post Doomsday and Superman's Death within a year later.
Kara was well known to he amongst the newer Wonder Woman and the Batgirl that has taken over Batman's duties after he mysteriously "vanished" when more forces played behind the scenes in that regard.
Meanwhile, still being Supergirl, her lover, Y/N, now loving Husband, having gotten married a few months ago, remained behind as the ever-loving House Husband, in their now shared apartment building, every day and night when Kara came back from her duties as Supergirl, he'd be the one greeting her when she came back.
But as of recently... Kara's been barely getting home than usual, skipping lunch dates, dinners, her usual work before she quit and the two had a fairshare of arguments then and there about the issue, as mostly every married couple eventually argues over something.
This morning was no different, it was the same as usual, Y/N always said that her being Supergirl didn't had to always be a thing, he wanted her to be Linda Danvers for a day or two, but she kept refusing the idea, Supergirl was needed day and night, it was her duty, her vow to fill in Kal's shoes.
Y/N made the argument that Superman wasn't always needed and this only infuriated Kara further, where their argument turned a little more heated. Y/N hated arguing with her about this, this was the first ever heated argument with her and he felt bad bringing it up. Kara was still hurting about Kal's death. There was one thing he did say that was true...
He felt neglected by her now, he hadn't been hugged by her in the last few weeks... Or even kissed by that matter and he missed having her lips on his
Kara was nothing but frustrated and moody mostly in the last few months, the last time he ever saw her smile much was during their wedding day and the entire week. It was like something switched off in her that caused her to be like this.
Could it be that something has happened? Something so bad, it's keeping her awake at night and not as the forgiving girl she was before?
She wasn't a Girl-Scout, but there was times she was, and it rarely shows today.
Y/N spent all day to himself once more, still thinking back on the argument he had with Kara this morning before she left, getting groceries, doing the laundry, keeping an eye on their cat, Streaky, before he eventually began to relax for the day. Not having to do any online work since Kara quit her Human job.
He sat on the couch, his Playstation controller in hand, playing a story-driven game before he paused it to go grab a drink.
His mind was still on the argument they had this morning, his eyes caught onto the plate of food, covered by tin-foil, dinner that was made for Kara for when she would come back at the usual time but again... She hadn't come back yet.
Y/N knew not to worry much, but it became increasingly hard for him, he loved her so much, despite the arguments they've had since getting married.
But he was worried, he was worried that she was beating herself up over everything that's happened, and it showed in her face, her body language.
The pair haven't kissed or hugged in the last two weeks and he missed being held, being kissed, being flown by her, he misses the old Kara, the old Supergirl...
The old Linda Danvers he fell in love with...
Just as he poured some fresh OJ, Y/N heard a pair of boots land on the wooden flooring by the window. He briefly looked to see Supergirl, his wife, who had seemed to look like she had been tossed around and thrown into the surface of the sun yet again, nothing more than usual.
His heart swelled to see her, but it hurt knowing she was probably still mad at him. He knew he wasn't wrong, but he just wanted to patch things up, like a normal married couple would.
"You're back" he stated the obvious with a lowered tone, but a tone she could pick up with her super hearing. "I... I was beginning to worry, but... I'm glad you're okay" he gave a little smile at the corner of his lips but it soon vanished after taking a sip of his drink.
Supergirl hadn't said anything back to him, she only looked at the TV to see what he had been doing in her absence, before noticing Streaky as she shakes her long, black cape, wiping off dust particles.
'Ugh, gonna have to get that cleaned up' he mentally noted before taking another sip from his drink. "I made dinner again, it's cold now but I ca-" a whooshing sound interrupted him and he was met by Kara who had zoomed up close to him after looking him in the eyes, completely surprising him. He almost dropped his glass of fresh OJ once she zoomed up at him in a nano-second.
"K-Kara?".
There was nothing but pain and hurt in her eyes before grabbing the sides of her cape and lunged her arms around him, wrapping her cape around him also as her body began to quiver and tremble.
She dug her face into the crook of his neck and her breaths became shaky, Y/N could only stand there with a surprised look on his face as Kara... The Girl of Steel, his wife, Supergirl, had began to break down emotionally from what it sounded like.
Then he could hear her sobbing into him, little sobs of sadness washing over her as she clung onto him hardly but gently, not wanting to let go just like any other time he'd tried to hug her.
"Y/N" she mumbled with a shaky breath into his neck, her messy blonde hair tickling the side of his face. "I-I-I" she couldn't speak her words, sadness overwhelming her as tears flushed down from her closed eyes that began to soak the T-shirt's fabric on his shoulder, crying even harder by the minute.
Y/N wrapped his arms around her figure quickly, who was clinging onto him like she was holding on for dear life, he accepted the hug he longed to get from her, it broke his heart hearing her sob and cry, feeling his shoulder getting wetter by the minute from all the tears she was shedding. Her words coming out trembling and mumbling nonsense
"Oh, Kara" Y/N cooed to her, rocking a little left to right while feeling the warmth of Kara's long cape wrapped around him and her, her arms holding him into place while a hug carried out.
"I-I... I'm so s-s-sorry!" she cried harder into him, her sobbing getting more prominent as Y/N tightened his arms around her, even his breaths began to get shaky at this moment, he felt her words hitting him in the heart. "I-I".
"Sshhh, i-it's okay" he cooed to her softly.
"N-N-No! I-It's not o-okay!" she denied that fact, struggling with her words still, but Y/N understood what she meant.
Yes... It wasn't okay, he could clearly see and hear it, with a crying Supergirl in his arms, also embracing him with her cape wrapped around him to cling onto him as she cries and sobs, overwhelmed by drowning dread and grief.
He always had a feeling eventually Linda/Kara L/N would be overwhelmed with this, mostly overwhelmed with the burden of being Earth's Champion twenty-four-seven, since Superman's death, she's been nothing but mostly Supergirl the entire time, the only acception she wouldn't be her superhero self was at the wedding and the week following that with the honeymoon.
"Let it all out, it's okay, my Sunshine" he cooed further though he stumbled on his wordings, calling her by a nickname he had for her, one she hadn't heard in a while which made her sob harder. "Let it all out" he told her once again, letting the broken Girl of Steel cry on his shoulder, just like he once told her that if she needed a shoulder to cry on, she's got him.
He could remember the days when they were in high school, remember when they were fifteen years old, he'd stop by the Danvers's place to hang out with Linda and her two other friends that she made in class, he remembered getting to know them better since he had different classes from them, and only a few classes where he and Kara would be seated near each other, often not sitting next to one another.
The days where he first began to crush on Linda, he found her the most adorable and smartest girl in the world, to him? She was everything he wanted. He didn't have much friends, most were into edgy stuff, which didn't match his tastes.
But Linda? She was into anything, she was cool to him, smart, had a sense of humor, was fun to be around and was pretty defensive for him against his bullies, once publicly embarrassing one of them by flipping him over her shoulder, on the verge of breaking the bully's arm, potentially ruining his placement for the basketball game coming up that time.
Once everything had calmed down, along with Kara's sobbing, and apologies were made about all the arguments they've been having, the two pulled back from the hug and kissed, lips-to-lips for the first time in two weeks, a kiss both surely had been missing, a long kiss between them with their lips slowly smacking off each other in a slow dancing way.
His hands caressed her cheek with his thumbs swiping away at any stray tears that fell down from her eyes which they did once they began to kiss, Kara's cape still wrapped around him and herself, not even thinking of letting go any time soon.
"Y/N" Kara broke the silence after the long kiss they had, the kiss she could clearly see that Y/N had been dreading for, a kiss of closure in other words. "I... I thought about what you said this morning, and... You're right, I have been... Neglecting you as of recently" she painfully admitted, her voice croaking as she spoke.
"No, no. I was wrong to say that" Y/N backed down from what he said, taking back the hurtful thing he said this morning. "I shouldn't have said that in the first-".
"No" she interrupted. "It's the truth. All I've thought since..." a pain arose in her chest as she felt it flare up from what she was about to say, struggling to speak a little.
"I don't think you need to say" he told her, knowing what she was going to say, as it was clear as day...
She took the burden of being the next Symbol of Hope, the carry on the shoes and burden that Superman alone carried with him through his actions and heroism, Supergirl was a role model to most, if not, all people as expressed through her actions and words alone. She didn't want to be like her cousin, she wanted to be her own person.
She once admitted to him the fact she was scared she'd end up losing herself because of the fact that there could be one day he might die and she'd have to pick up where he left off being Earth's Champion, but Clark gave her sound advice. Like him...
She had family and friends to help her carry the burden if she struggled, to carry on without him if he were to die, which happened.
"I visit that statue every day" she sniffled, looking into Y/N's eyes still. "Wishing he'd be here today still, wondering what it would be like to have him around again" she closed her eyes and sighed with a sadness that could be seen in her face. "I miss him... So, so much" she croaked.
"I know, I miss him too" he laid a finger under her chin and raised her head so he could look into her eyes, tears forming her eyes once more before one fell down onto Y/N's thumb. "But you're not alone, Kara. Being Supergirl twenty-four-seven hasn't done you good, you look stressed and tired, which is concerning considering Kryptonians don't get tired from what you've shown" he made a valid point across to her, but she seemed to have heard it before.
"You sound like Babs".
"Do I know?" he chuckled. "Well... If I was Barbara, I think she'd also be correct".
This prompted to make the Girl of Steel smile just a little, which was enough for him to point out with a little smile back at her.
"There she is, there's the smile".
"Don't ruin it" she groaned.
"I'd never" he smiled, giving out a little laugh that was a little contagious for Kara, a soft laugh escaped her before it died down, with her sighing next.
Y/N pushed a strand of Kara's hair behind her ear, seeing the other half of her face that was hidden by her golden hair. "I think... You should take off the suit and Supergirl" with his eyes he traced out the House of El glyph on Kara's chest. "...could use a good break for a little bit, you can have someone else fill in for you, clear your mind a little with me" Y/N suggested to her, though he knew she wouldn't like it, now that things had been settled between them, he wouldn't lose his chances.
And Kara knew it...
"I can heat up your dinner, or you can probably use your heat vision since it's quicker than the oven" he snorted, getting a faint laugh out from Kara while she smiled, his face brightened up again noticing it. "And we can also... Cuddle on the couch, put on a movie of your choice, not my pick because you know I'm picky" he suggested further.
"Or..." Kara unwrapped her arms off him for a moment before wrapping them back around, only around the crook of his neck this time around with her cape billowing slightly behind her due to the window being open still on a cool windy night. "I can take you on a flight?".
"Ohh" Y/N caught himself between two hard choices. "Hmm... Maybe tomorrow you can take me on a flight, how about that, Sunshine?" he answered.
"Deal" she nodded before smiling a little more, finally answering after a minute. Deep down he was right from earlier when she thought about it, her being Supergirl twenty-four-seven has done her no good, it put some strain on the relationships she's got with her loved ones, her adopted family especially and Y/N, who love her all the same, she had a prior visit to them before coming back, wanting to reconcile which was as emotional as it was already.
"It's your favorite, by the way, from your adopted mother's recipe" he smiled as Kara x-rayed the plate with the tin-foil over it, spotting a Lasagna and coming from him, it was Edna Danvers recipe of her Lasagna.
"I thought I smelled something familiar" she noted while looking at the plate.
"Go on" he gestured his head toward the plate.
"You want some? There's plenty left for us to share" she offered, unwrapping her arms off him and began to walk up to the plate.
"Nah, I'm good" he declined politely.
"You sure? In case you end up eying it up anyway" she smirked, taking off the tin-foil gently though unnecessary to do it gently.
"I had like... Maybe two plates earlier, cooked a bit too much, I'm full still" he gestured. I'll wait on the couch for you, gonna turn this game off and that".
"Okay, Love" she nodded and smiled before she looked at the food, her eyes soon lit up red before she quickly heated up the food with her heat vision, heating it up to the right temperature, just for her.
Taking the plate, she saw her Husband save his progress and switch off the game, she had a little fond memory of him kicking her ass at a fighting game when they were younger, back when things were simpler when Clark was still alive.
"Y/N" Kara broke the silence yet again.
"Yes, my Sunshine?" he answered.
"I love you, I really love you, you dork. Always remember that" she smiled once again, stabbing her Lasagna with a fork that was left on the table next to the plate earlier before taking it to her mouth to savor the taste of the food.
"I love you too, Linda L/N" he smiled back at her, her face noticeably brightened as she strolled over with her plate of food in hand...

Back To Earth - Chapter 1
This is the sequel to 'Back To Krypton'. If you haven't read that yet, the full fic is available on AO3 here!
-
“Not much longer,” Lena announces, her gaze set firmly on Earth as it grows larger. “Probably another hour or so before we meet up with the fleet.”
Kara hums, sliding off the bed to join Lena. She wraps her arm around her waist and leans into her, their heads resting softly against each other. “I’m glad Brainy decided to take this last stretch slow so we can see it like this. It’s beautiful.”
Lena snorts. “We’re hardly going slow; we’re just going slow enough to not need a seatbelt.”
Bumping her hip into Lena’s, Kara giggles. “You know what I mean.”
“Yeah,” Lena sighs. “I do.”
“It’s not usually his style to be sentimental when practicality works so much better though. I wonder why he planned this.”
Lena grimaces. She's the keeper of Brainy’s secrets and she’s already folding before Kara has even pressed for more information. “Yeah, that is...odd.” Her voice wavers the tiniest amount, but it’s enough to give her away.
Kara squints at her. “You know something. Tell me.”
Holding her hands up, Lena makes a futile attempt at getting Kara to drop it. “It’s Brainy’s business.”
“And yours too, since you’re keeping secrets for him. Spill.”
Lena shakes her head, trying to figure out the best way to lay this out without upsetting Kara. “There are a few reasons he decided to slow us down. The main one is that he’s been away from Nia for a long time and he wants to woo her a little. He also wants to check over our device one last time. We’ve both triple-checked it to make sure it’ll do the job we need it for, but since it’s made from the schematics of multiple devices, he’s nervous.”
Kara’s eyes narrow when she stops talking. “And the third reason?”
“He’s worried about you. We all are. You’ve been through a hell of a lot, so we thought that you might appreciate a slow return to Earth. Some time to wrap your head around things before we’re officially back on home turf.”
“So it wasn’t Brainy’s idea. It was yours.” Kara doesn’t sound mad. If anything, she just sounds defeated. “I’m ok, Lena.”
Lena faces her fully, the light reflecting from Earth shining on them both, the planet they’ve sworn to protect watching over them in this vulnerable moment. “I know, but you don’t have to be.”
“I can’t. Not until we’ve stopped Lex.”
“If our plan goes smoothly, the device will be activated as soon as we’re through Earth’s atmosphere. Lex won’t see it coming and everything will be fine. You can breathe, Kara. We both can. We can live.”
Kara sinks into Lena’s arms, her head turned so she can look out over Earth. “It’s so beautiful.”
“It is, and it isn’t,” Lena says, her voice soft, barely more than a whisper. “There’s so much hatred down there, but from up here, it’s nothing but beauty. This is how I think you look at people. You see the good even when they’re capable of such horrors. I love that about you, and I wish I could do the same. You see the best part of people rather than judging and mistrusting them for something they may never do.”
“Your way is smarter.”
“Your way is kinder.” Lena rebuts. “I like to think we balance each other out pretty well.”
“I know we do.”
There’s a knock at the door a second before it slides open, but neither woman turns to look to see who it is.
“God, seeing you two stare at each other like that is worse than walking in on you doing…things.” Alex’s voice is coated in a thick layer of disgust. “Anyway, we’re going to strap in and take the last part faster so Lex doesn’t notice another ship joining the fleet. We’re going to stop by J’onn’s ship first to let him know the good news before we make the last stretch back home.”
Lena traces her fingertips down the length of Kara’s arm before finally looking at Alex. “Sounds good. We’ll be there in just a minute.”
Alex nods, her eyes now fixed on her sister, who is avoiding eye contact with her. “Are you ok, Kara?”
“Yeah, I will be.” She musters up a smile, looking between Alex and Lena. “I have a lot of emotions going on, but I’ll be just fine.”
“Good.” Alex’s face softens. “You will be. We’ll all be with you while you get there.”
“I know.”
There’s a brief moment of softness between the sisters before Alex ducks out of the room, leaving Kara and Lena in their little bubble of peace.
Lena rests her forehead against Kara’s for a second before brushing her nose against hers. “We’ve got to figure out how to explain to everyone on Earth that we went back in time and fell in love.”
“I’d argue that we were already in love.” Kara grins before pressing her lips firmly against Lena’s.
“Yeah, you’re right.”
“I think everyone will be happy for us.”
“Me too.”
They cling to their moment of serenity for a couple more minutes before they regretfully pull away from each other to go and join the others. They’re all waiting for them, strapped into their seats and ready to go when they walk in. They roll their eyes at their team when they cheer at them sarcastically.
Alright, let’s do this,” Brainy announces. “Hold on, everyone.”
They prepare themselves and close their eyes for the quick blast of speed that sends them shooting through the universe, only slowing as they approach the back of the fleet, manoeuvring through the ships to slide in right beside J’onn’s ship.
“J’onn. Can you hear me?” Brainy speaks aloud, trying to contact J’onn’s ship.
“Loud and clear. How are you all?”
“Tired,” Kara calls out, “and ready to get home.”
“I bet.” J’onn chuckles. “Did you get what you need?”
“We sure did. We’re going to land and activate the device as we pass through the atmosphere. We’ll signal to you when it’s safe for you to bring the fleet down.”
There’s the faint sound of applause from the background of J’onn’s ship. “Good work, team. I’ll see you down there soon enough.”
“We look forward to it,” Brainy says, and Nia leans forward just a touch so she can get a better look at the grin spread across his face. She’s missed him and his dorkiness, and she just can’t get enough of it now that they’re back together again.
Brainy preps the ship for atmospheric entry and then gives everyone a brief warning before he starts their descent, his fingers poised on the switch to their new device so he can flip it on as soon as they’re close enough to the ground to do so.
The moment the device turns on is a little anticlimactic. All it does is light up a little. Nothing else is meant to happen; that’s the point. No exploding ships, just a pretty little blinking light and peace.
“All systems confirm that the device is working and it has deactivated Lex’s weapon,” Lena says, her eyes pinned on the control panel in front of her. “Mission accomplished.”
“Mission accomplished,” Kara whispers to herself with a tiny smile, one that is both genuine and not. She’s thrilled that all of their hard work has paid off. She just wishes that she didn’t lose so much in doing so.
The ship levels off as they come to land in front of the Tower and Kara takes that as enough permission to take off her seatbelt to look at her family. She might have lost one family on Krypton, but she’s gained a whole new one. One that understands her so much more thanks to this mission. That’s something she’ll hold dear for the rest of her life.
“So, I’m thinking pizza.” She announces to the room. “It’s been far too long since we’ve had pizza.”
“And Chinese.” Alex pipes up. “We need potstickers too, and you’re going to share them.” She points an accusing finger at her sister.
“We better order extra then. I want at least a dozen to myself.”
“I’ll get you some, darling.” Lena appears at her side. “I’ll also be getting myself some because listening to you ramble on about them for months has had me craving them like crazy.”
Kara shrugs. “I’m not sorry.”
“That’s not surprising.”
Squinting at Lena playfully, Kara scoffs. “What’s that meant to mean?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Lena plays into it.
“I think I found something to worry about.” Brainy joins in the conversation, his tone clipped.
They all huddle around the control panel where Brainy is working, their eyes peering at his fast-moving fingers before darting to the device as he keeps pressing switches on the side of it.
Lena’s eyebrows furrow as she figures out what’s happening. “Oh, I see.”
“I don’t. Mind filling us in?” Nia questions, her hands resting loosely on Brainy’s shoulders.
Kara figures it out next, quickly followed by Alex.
“Lex is trying to set off the machine now.” Kara starts.
“And every time he does that, the machine is stopping him, but it has to be reset each time it works or else Lex can still make the fleet self-destruct.” Alex finishes. “We need to tell J’onn to keep the fleet where it is until we figure out how to make the device reset itself. If we can’t do that, someone will have to keep resetting it manually each time it goes off until we can stop Lex for good and destroy his device.”
Everyone’s shoulders drop. They might have won the battle, but the war isn’t over. Not while Lex can still try to set off his device.
“Do you think he’ll figure out that we’re stopping him manually, or will he give up?” Kelly asks, her hands twisting in front of her.
Lena struggles to swallow past the growing lump in her throat. “I’d guess that he’ll rage for a while first, and then he’ll look into it to see what’s happening. It’s only a matter of time before he realizes that we have to stop each attempt and tries to use that to his advantage. That or he’ll try to find a way around it.”
“He won’t be able to do that. There’s less than nought point three percent chance that he will find a way.”
Kara’s completely lost her smile. “So we just keep manually stopping him for now?”
Brainy nods solemnly. “Yes. For now, that’s all we can do.”
Kara sighs, her fingers pinching the bridge of her nose tightly. “Rao, it never ends.”
Lena’s hand rests on her forearm, gently urging Kara to take her hand away from her face. “Hey, it will. We just have a couple of extra steps. We’re all good though. We can take shifts with the device, which we should probably name so we don’t have to keep calling it ‘the device’, and once we’ve figured out how to spruce it up and make it so it resets itself, we’ll all be peachy.”
Kara stares deeply into emerald eyes. “Since when do you use the word ‘peachy’?”
“Since I started dating a dork.” Lena deadpans. “Now, how about we get off this ship and into the Tower?”
Kara nods but then falters. “Hold on, we have to call J’onn.”
“He’s not going to be thrilled by the news,” Alex adds.
“No, he’s not.” Kelly bumps Esme up onto her hip more firmly, having just lifted her up. “But he needs to know.”
Lena leans over to call J’onn back and they all wait impatiently for him to respond.
“Have you arrived down there safely?”
Alex clears her throat, opting to be the one to tell him the bad news. “Yes, we have, but there is something you need to know.”
“Nothing good ever followed those words.”
“I’m inclined to agree.” Alex shuffles her feet as she starts explaining. “The device works and stops Lex from causing all the alien ships to self-destruct. However, we have to manually reset it each time he makes an attempt, so it might be best to keep the fleet off Earth until we have managed to make it repeat its defensive actions without there being room for human error.”
They can practically hear J’onn’s teeth grinding as he processes. “I think a lot less people will be willing to stay up here. There are still a lot of aliens that stayed on Earth anyway, but telling the ones that did leave to stay up here for longer than they already have just won’t work. I can ask, but I will not take away their right to make an informed choice. We will monitor the device in pairs to ensure there will be no errors. We can take shifts.”
“J’onn, are you sure that’s a good idea?” Kara asks.
“No, but we can’t keep these people in limbo indefinitely, and we don’t have the resources to stop them from going anywhere.”
“Ok. Do you want us to tell them?”
“No, you’ve done plenty. This is my burden to carry. I’ll meet you down there soon.”
The call ends with a click, and the whole group just deflates. “I guess we better get inside, then.” Kelly ushers them to the door.
“Nia and I will remain for a little longer to stabilize the device for transit into the Tower.” Briany declares, waving them off, his eyes fixed diligently on the control panel to monitor any need to reset the device once again.
Lena takes Kara’s hand as they walk ahead of Alex, Kelly and Esme. “I’m going to order a boatload of food and have a nice hot shower, then I’m going to put on the softest clothes I own and sleep forever.”
“Rao, that sounds so good.” Kara has to resist moaning at the thought. “I bet we can convince someone else to take the first shift with the device.”
Lena smirks at her devilishly. “I bet we can.”
They pass the H’Rakas, both of them sleeping soundly in the cargo bay. “I can’t wait to see these guys out in the open again. I think they’ve kind of restless being stuck in here.”
“Yeah. We’ll get them out of here as soon as possible.” Lena agrees.
The door opens, and Kara basks in the immediate power surge she gets from being beneath Sol’s rays once again. It’ll take a while for her powers to come back fully, most likely a couple of days, but she already feels stronger.
“Welcome home.” She grips Lena’s hand tighter, taking her first step out of the ship and officially onto Earth.
She crumples.
Lena’s hand is dropped as she falls to her knees, her hands grasping at her head as she cries out in pain.
“Kara?” Lena falls to her side, her hands desperately cupping her face to try and get her attention. “What’s happening? What hurts?”
Kara can’t answer. All she can focus on is the acute pain in her head.
“Kara?” Lena keeps trying to get her to look at her, but with her eyes shut so firmly and her pain drowning out the sound of everything happening around her, Kara is oblivious.
Kelly rushes past them with Esme, the little girl peering over her mom’s shoulder with wide, terrified eyes. She has no idea what’s happening but it’s clear that it’s not good.
Alex and Lena sit on either side of Kara, flipping her onto her back so she’s leaning against Alex, nestled in her sister’s embrace, while they try to figure out what’s happening.
“You’re going to be ok,” Alex whispers to her, her face the epitome of terror because she knows that whatever has caused this, she can’t stop.
Kara’s in a world of her own, her brain on overload as she’s hit by memory after memory that she never lived. Her past is being rewritten, merging with her true memories to create a messy collage of old truths and new truths she can barely differentiate.
It’s all moving so fast that she can’t keep up. All she can do is try not to focus on the stabbing pain in her head and the overload of information hitting her as she’s dragged along for the ride. She can’t stop it; she must simply endure.
It slows eventually, but not before Nia and Brainy come stumbling out of the ship to find them on the floor.
“Oh no, that’s not good,” Brainy says, understanding exactly what is happening. “Her past is changing. I should have accounted for this.”
“What do you mean?” Lena presses for answers. “Why now? We left Krypton days ago.”
“Her return to Earth solidified the timeline. As soon as she stepped foot out of the protection of the time ship, she was exposed to the changes. She’ll be in pain for a while, but it’ll pass.”
Brainy’s relaxed demeanour calms both Alex and Lena, but Alex isn’t completely satisfied. “How long will she be like this?”
He shrugs, careful not to lose track of the device in Nia’s arms as they await a possible need to reset it. “That depends on how much has changed for her. Given her pain threshold and her current reaction, I’d say that some fundamental parts of her life have changed, and that’s something we shall have to thoroughly review when she’s recovered.”
“What do we do in the meantime?” Lena asks, her hands clutching at Kara’s, keeping her from digging her nails into her scalp as she tries to overcome the immense pain she’s in.
“We wait it out.” Brainy is no happier saying it than Alex and Lena are hearing it.
Kara’s eyes fly open. The pain is still strong, but it dipped suddenly enough for her to regain some of her senses.
She focuses on the balcony, but she doesn’t see the present. She’s seeing ghosts of memories walking and standing and drinking and hugging, each one overlapping and merging, each false but true. They weren’t, but now they are.
“Kara? Can you hear me?” Lena tries.
The memories fade away until one remains. A kiss on Earth that never happened, one right before they climb aboard the Legion ship with bags that got carried across Krypton. Then, that fades too, taking the pain with it.
“Holy fuck.”
“Kara?” Lena’s eyes glisten with unshed tears.
“I’m ok.” She stumbles over the words but leans up without assistance, proving her statement to be at least somewhat true.
Both Alex and Lena are quick to wrap their arms around her waist to support her weight as she stands, and then they start directing her inside slowly, conscious of keeping their assistance light but stabilizing.
“Let’s get you to a chair,” Alex says, mostly to herself. “You need to sit down.”
“I really am alright. I promise.”
Lena scoffs. “With all due respect, you were just wiped out by some pretty severe pain brought on by your timeline being rewritten, so pardon us if we don’t take your word for it.”
Kara gives in. She can’t argue with that. “That’s fair.”
The pair lower Kara into the nearest chair, their worry and uneasiness evident to everyone who bothers to look. Kara, for the most part, seems to be ok. She’s managed to steady herself again and is now just trying to piece together the memories she lived compared to the memories she gained just a few seconds ago.
“Are you sure you’re feeling ok?” Lena asks, tenderly tucking a wayward lock of blonde hair back behind her ear.
Kara nods slowly. “Yeah, I’m just trying to make sense of things.”
“Brainy?” Alex waves at him to get his attention, leaving Nia to watch the device, the fate of every alien who owns a ship lying in her hands.
“Alex.” He replies.
“Why aren’t we having the same reaction as Kara? Surely a change in her timeline means that there will also be a change in ours.”
Brainy hums and tucks his arms behind his back, his spine straightening. “While that is true, Kara has had a massive shift in her timeline and the change in events leading up to and following the destruction of Krypton will have a much stronger effect on her than any change in events for you. You are correct though. You will experience a few changes; how many is unknown at this time, so you’re likely to experience the merging of memories in one of two ways.”
“Which are?” Alex tries not to sound nervous.
“Either you will gain them when your mind rests, or you will gain them slowly as the days pass, perhaps partnered with a headache or a migraine, depending on the severity of the changes. Kara’s happened so quickly because of her direct impact on the changes and the confirmation of those changes happening when she stepped off the ship.”
“So we’ll either wake up with them or have a headache and get them?” Alex confirms.
“Precisely.”
“Well, that’s just swell.” Lena drones out. “Hey, Kara?”
“Hmm,” Kara hums, leaning her head into Lena’s side as the brunette perches on the arm of the chair she’s sitting in.
Lena wraps her arm around Kara, her fingernails brushing up and down her arm soothingly. “Are there any changes we need to be aware of?"
Kara shrugs helplessly. “I’m still sort of trying to piece together what’s what. I feel like I’ve just watched fifty movies at once, and I’m trying to figure out whether Cindy Lou Who is meant to be in ‘The Grinch’ or ‘Jaws’.”
“That’s...ok.” Lena doesn’t fully understand what that means, but she figures that it’s best to leave it well enough alone for now.
“We kissed though.”
“I’m well aware, darling.”
Kara shakes her head, looking up at the underside of Lena’s jaw. “No, we kissed before Krypton. I saw it.”
Lena’s eyes widen. “We were in a relationship on Earth?”
“Not really. We kissed right before getting on the ship to go on the mission. Rather, you kissed me.”
“Makes sense; you wouldn’t have the balls.” Lena smiles.
Kara’s mouth drops open. “Rude! I was just informing you of the details of our first kiss and you decide to bully me in return.”
“I wouldn’t call it bullying.”
“Oh?”
“Of course not.” Lena leans down to press a kiss to the top of Kara’s head. “I was just telling the truth.”
All Kara can do is roll her eyes at her. “Sure, sure.”
Lena chuckles into Kara’s hair. “If we kissed before we left for Krypton, does that mean that our actions on Krypton changed and, therefore, the future we changed has been changed again?”
“No.” Brainy answers. What happened on Krypton has become a fixed point in time. It’s hard to explain but because you changed a fixed point in time to begin with, it’s like you mixed the pieces of two jigsaw puzzles together. Even if all the pieces fit and lock together smoothly, the picture may never look perfect.”
“So our past is now a little jumbled but our future should be fine, just a little different than we anticipated?” Kara asks.
“Exactly.” Brainy points at the pair. “This is why I told you to limit interactions with people there. You can cause a real mess, just like this one.”
Kara grimaces as she thinks about all of the people she talked to and the lives she may have changed because of her actions. “Yeah, we did talk to quite a lot of people.”
“You beat one up.” Lena snorts.
Brainy sinks his head into his hands. “That doesn’t shock me. Kara, we don’t know the full extent of the damage yet, but it’s not looking good.”
“I know.” Kara leans back and closes her eyes, her brain flicking through all of the people’s lives she knows she definitely affected in some way, whether it be in big or small ways, it all matters. She keeps getting stuck on one person though. Someone who she now has new memories of.
Astra.
They were never on the rooftop.
Astra didn’t die on the rooftop.
Astra didn’t die.
“Oh...” Kara breathes. “Oh no.”
“What?” Alex turns to her, dread building up inside of her.
“Um, I might know what one of the changes happens to be.”
That catches everyone’s attention. Everyone except Nia focuses on her, their eyes scanning her face for any hint of a clue as to how bad this is going to be.
Alex squeezes Kara’s hand. “What is it?”
“It’s Astra.”
Alex freezes, the memory of Astra dying in Kara’s arms haunting her as it so often does, not that she often tells anyone that. There’s something different about this recollection though. It’s foggier than usual and a little frayed at the edges.
“She’s alive.” Kara finishes.
Alex’s mouth opens and closes, words sitting on the tip of her tongue but none strong enough to pass her lips. Eventually, she manages to stutter one out. “How?”
Pressing her lips together and rubbing her hands over her thighs, Kara thinks, trying to uncover more pieces to the puzzle. “I’m not totally sure. Something about her not believing in the cause anymore. She disagreed with Non and…” She pauses, hit with a surprising amount of clarity. “She killed Non to protect us. She saved Earth and lived here peacefully with us ever since.”
Kara can’t help it. She knows a massive change in the timeline like this shouldn’t be celebrated. It shouldn’t even be acknowledged really, just something to be dealt with, but this is a good thing. It’s a brilliant thing. Her aunt is alive.
“My aunt is alive.” Kara grins. “She’s alive.”
“Please tell me you’re just randomly celebrating the fact I’ve somehow managed to keep all of us alive as long as I have and not that your aunt Lara is somehow miraculously alive too. She was always a pompous bitch.”
Kara’s head whips around to see Astra leaning up against the doorframe, a startled Kelly at her side and Esme perched on her hip.
“Aunt Astra, you’re really here.” Kara’s voice is filled with wonder. She pushes herself up and walks over to her, stopping just shy of her, too afraid to actually touch her, too scared that this is nothing more than her confused, traumatized mind playing tricks on her.
Astra’s eyebrows pinch together before she hands Esme off to Kelly and closes the gap between them to press the back of her hand to Kara’s forehead. “Kara, are you ill?”
Kara shakes her head. “No. I’m just…” She gives up on trying to formulate words. Instead, she leans into her aunt’s touch before dragging her into a tight hug, her hands clutching at the back of Astra’s shirt so tightly it would rip if her powers had returned.
Everyone appears to be frozen in place as they stare at the scene and Astra catches on to the fact that she’s missing some pretty crucial information very quickly. “So, what have I missed?”
“What do you know?” Kelly probes.
Astra pulls out of the hug but lets her hands trail down Kara’s arms until she finds her hands, holding them securely in hers with no plans on dropping them until she has to. “That you’ve just come back from a mission to Krypton, and I now have the world’s biggest migraine, but this hug is definitely doing wonders to help it. I was hoping Alex would check me over though. I don’t usually get migraines due to my biology, as I’m sure you understand.”
Brainy sighs, getting ready to recount the same information he already gave everyone when he should be helping Nia monitor the device. Lena saves him though. “I got it, Brainy.”
“Thank you, Lena.”
“You got it.”
Astra looks at Lena expectantly. “So?”
“So, you have a migraine because your timeline is changing in a pretty major way. You’ll be able to remember everything soon.”
“Do you know what the changes are?”
Lena hesitates but nods. “I do.”
“You don’t want to tell me.” Astra gathers from the way Lena’s arms are folded tightly over her chest, and one foot is facing out as though she’s ready to run at a moment’s notice. “Is it really that bad?”
Kara blurts out the truth before Lena can find a tactful way of delivering the news. “You were dead.”
“What?”
“You were dead.”

Kinda pissed Oliver didn’t even put at least Leo Snart and Ray Terrill on earth prime, like- there isn’t even a doppelgänger issue cause Leonard DIED, and Ray Terrill is literally from earth one. the fact that they fit almost all the qualifications for an earth prime crossover, I mean Leo is close with the legends and The flash, and Ray Terrill knows almost everyone including Vixen.
Please note that I am writing this at 2:30 am, but like- Christ Oliver, I know we can’t merge earth-x with earth prime, but why can’t I just have this one thing.
If there are any fics where this issue is fixed please let me know

Scoring Her Heart of Steel - Supergirl x Male Reader
Contains: Fluff 🥰
Living the life in shadow wasn't easy, especially when having special abilities when you couldn't understand them at first, unable to find the right person to help you discover them and even control them, fire, ice and even smoke. Recently learning to use solar magic to heal wounds and himself too.
That person was Y/N, he was but a child when finding out that his late father contained abilities which carried over to Y/N himself.
He came from a family of an old clan, a clan that pretty much no longer existed but only was told in stories of the Old Histories, his ancestors before him were from this old clan.
But since then? He found someone who could help him, that being Liang who possessed abilities much like Y/N's.
He was part of the Earth Defense Squadron, a group of individuals who deal with criminals, thugs and bigger threats using their set of skills and abilities to protect their planet, and even the Sol System.
Y/N was but 16 when he joined, now? He is at least 20 years old, he's been a member for four years now and hasn't regretted joining since.
Some kill him "Enenra" for his smoke magic, "The Cold Assassin" for ice, "Pyro" or "Mr Impulsive" for his fire (though the last one is much of an insult to him). But he calls himself Mancer, given his ability to use fire, solar, ice and smoke at the same time. He has since mastered them all, Solar magic is his newest addition to his abilities. His friends call him Multitasker anyways.
As of this moment? They're currently on the hunt for a convicted criminal they've been hunting down for a while now, responsible for almost causing a world wide war through manipulation and sorcery, if there was one word Y/N would describe him as? He'd call him the Devil's Sorcerer, given his background, he's lived for a very long time.
He has a vision of making a perfect world, which he'd make after everything is asunder, he sees humanity's flaws and wants to perfect them... But when that couldn't work and failed? He decided to move onto another target. Another Earth to be exact.
An Earth where it also had Heroes and Villains, but not like the ones that the sorcerer knew, he began scheming, manipulating others for his own gain.
But it wasn't long, till he'd be found by a group of Heroes from his Earth, and Mancer was with them to finally bring him to justice, their way.
But knowing the Heroes of this Earth? Mancer's leader knew the Heroes wouldn't allow them.
The little goose chase had gone on long enough, Mancer and the others had finally brought down the Sorcerer's forces and himself included, as the group surrounds him and picks him up. Liang stood in front of him as he scolds him.
"Alatar Omrin, for too long you have avoided justice, committed many atrocities of both our Earth and this one-"
"Save me your lecture Liang, Your voice has already bored me" Omrin snarked, earning a punch from Xalex, the Windbender.
"Got any other comments to share Sorcerer? I'd be glad to keep this up!" Xalex smirked.
"Xalex..." Liang glared right at him, forcing him to stand down.
"Sorry, boss" Xalex chuckled nervously.
"Yes, listen to him, you don't want a battered up, captive don't you? After all, you're the one who always seems to screw up" Omrin tried antagonizing Xalex which almost worked... if it weren't for Mancer.
"Quiet Sorcerer or I'm gonna shut you up myself by gagging you" Y/N threatened to cover Omrin's mouth with his ice, preventing him to speak, Omrin did as asked and closed his mouth.
Not even another word came out.
"Damn, that was cold" a feminine voice spoke behind him, his best friend, Satine who was an Earthbender.
"Enough with the puns Sati" Y/N chuckled.
"Alright, let's get out of here before we're stopped" Liang ordered.
The group began to walk out of the area, Xalex forced Omrin to move, even Satine joined in to help Xalex too.
But... Like traditional villains do... They'd run their mouths until someone would do something about it.
"Now we won't hear his bickering" Y/N sighed with relief, icing his mouth up to cover it, preventing Omrin to speak and antagonize Liang and the group further, Liang also sighed of relief too.
For at least the five minutes that went past, some suspense began to build up between everyone.
"Is it just me or does it feel like we're being watched?" Satine asked with suspicion in her question, whispering it to her allies.
"Well, we're in a world of different Heroes which most of em are aliens and meta-humans, ones that have enhanced hearing, vision, speed and all that. Especially ones that can fly also? I do agree... We might be being watched right now ~" Y/N answered her question - "Which to be truthful, this Earth does feel a little more safer but more dangerous than ours... Not that I'm complaining or anything" he shared his thoughts of the current Earth they're on.
"I do gotta admit... The female Heroes look fine if you ask me" Xalex spoke his mind.
"In which way do you refine that?" Satine asked, narrowing her eyes toward him.
"Well... I'm saying most of em look a little hot. Like. c'mon?" he boasted before he could tell Satine looked at him funny, frowning her face toward him. The two were in a relationship as it is - "Don't even give me that look Satine, I can sense it... At least back me up here Multitasker" Xalex requested for help, a chuckle escaped Y/N.
"I'd prefer to be more respectful to women and you know that... But yes, I do admit that red caped blonde girl has somehow interested me in the short time we've been here, I've heard about the many things she's accomplished on Earth and the fact she's a living and breathing Kryptonian? I'd like to meet her one day, so many questions I want to ask her or the other Kryptonians for that matter" Y/N replied, it sounded as if he fanboyed over this caped young woman as Xalex began smirking in a teasing matter.
"Ohh? Sounds like someone's a fan of one of the female Heroes" he teased.
"Or maybe he's already crushing on this caped woman, Supergirl was her name right?" Satine joined in with the teasing, noticing Y/N began to blush with embarrassment.
"Wh-What? *nervous laugh* I have no idea what you're talking about" he tried to hide his blush, but his face was a bright red.
"C'mon Y/N! It's normal to have a crush on someone, even if it's a superpowered woman" Xalex smiles, before looking at Satine, to which she smiled back at him, knowing he referred to her of what he said.
"Yeah... I guess it can be normal... Right?" Y/N asked loudly, wondering that himself.
It was a shame he didn't exactly have a proper childhood, pulled out of school early due to him being a hazardous threat among others, his mother had to raise him by quitting her job, family members would often help around too to keep Y/N and his mother going until she'd find someone, but instead? He found someone first, that being Liang.
"It is normal to have some sort of feeling toward another person, Mancer ~" Liang joined in after listening to his comrade's conversation, sharing his view on feelings too - "Even if you haven't met them yet which I do hope to keep it that way, who knows what Omrin has told them. To them? We could be the enemy if he hasn't already told them about us, and it might take a lot of convincing to show that we aren't the enemy. However, keep your guard up. We don't know who'll show up to stop us" Liang ordered as everyone agreed, keeping their focus on every direction to look for anything suspicious.
As moments went by, more walking continued to the main extraction zone where the portal to their world would work, more suspicion filled the air around them.
Unbeknownst to the group escorting their captive, someone was indeed watching, the son of the Red Caped Wonder and a Reporter in Metropolis who would be soon joined with two others.
That included his father.
"I don't like this... I'm sure trouble is gonna find us soon" Xalex spoke with worry, his hand eagerly over the hilt of his Katana.
"Keep your eyes peeled, we're almost at the extraction zone" Liang reminded his comrades, his hand itching toward his elemental infused holstered guns.
"It's too quiet, and btw? Who would want Omrin anyway?" Satine asked Liang.
"That won't matter, he will answer for his crimes on our Earth, he won't answer to -"
"I'm afraid that's not going to happen, your captive..." a new voice suddenly interrupted the group. A man's voice from the sky above as they all looked up in front of them as three people began to descend. two male, 1 female. All wearing the same colors, the female wore a long red skirt and red high knee boots while the men wore pants with their respective boots, the older one wore red briefs with his, with a cape and that symbol on their suits...The big red and yellow S.
"...Will answer to us" Superman spoke as if he was not in the mood, he sounded... Angry almost but serious. He was joined up with Superboy who was his son and his cousin... Supergirl.
(Aka... Your little crush)
The three Supers landed on the ground in front of them, at least 7 feet away to confront Liang and his group. Satine and Xalex were startled by their sudden arrival as Liang frowned upon seeing them.
However... Y/N's eyes were laser focused on the red caped blondie, Supergirl. He never seen her up close before... Seeing a very strong and beautiful woman in front of his eyes had him thinking so, he couldn't help it. However, he was able to his eyes away from her for a few moments.
"Shit... I knew we were being watched! I freaking called it!" Satine hissed with annoyance, her hand itching to make a move but felt hesitant to do so, unless they attacked first.
"Let me do the talking and Y/N, if we are to engage in conflict, do not use your solar abilities, it's what empowers them" Liang ordered before stepping forward a little - "I am Liang, Master of Elemental Magic, Protector of Earth. We only ask if you let us continue on our way back home, the extraction zone is not far" he asked politely.
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that, your captive needs to answer for his crimes, and we're taking him to Stryker Island for questioning. Hand him over and you may proceed back home" Superman denied to allow them to continue, without handing over their captive.
This seemed to make Liang unsatisfied, he'd hope they'd understand, but clearly... They wouldn't.
"And he's told us a lot about you. How you're not to be trusted, we thought you were working for him but clearly not... So you must be bringing him in for execution which we cannot allow" Superboy spoke, he was young still but was learning.
"What?! You can't be the judge of that! And this isn't your situation, it's ours!" Xalex raised his voice with annoyance rising in his attitude.
"Do you have any idea what that man has done? He almost killed half of the Justice League that tried to stop him, including my cousin ~" Supergirl spoke next, walking a little forward - "He needs to be brought in for justice"
"And you believe what this Sorcerer said to you all? That we execute criminals? We're nothing like that!" Satine backed up her group.
"Hand him over to us, we can do this the easy way..." Superboy offered which his father slightly looked at his son for a moment, knowing that's not the way he'd put it lightly.
"Or the hard way ~" Supergirl issued the warning - "Please pick the easy way, we don't need to fight" Supergirl's face cringed, knowing her other choice of words wasn't the greatest to blurt out.
An intense few moments went pass as everyone went quiet, the sound of the gentle wind blew past as each individual stared each other down.
All of a sudden, a wave of strong wind hit Superboy, knocking him back as they all look at Xalex - "Uh... Haha.. Oops" he chuckled.
Superman had enough and instantly went for Xalex, only to be stopped by Liang who stood in front of him and caught his fist before a spark of electricity charged in his fist and he punched him away.
"Squadron! Protect the captive!" Liang called out as he ran for Superman, Xalex stood phased as Satine rushed up to him.
"You heard the man! Y/N! Watch over Omrin, we'll take care of Superman Junior over there"
"Good luck mate" Xalex teased before the two love birds rushed off.
"Wait guys! Ugh ~" Y/N groaned, being left alone with Omrin was something he didn't want. He took a look at Omrin who glared daggers at him, knowing he was visibly cussing him out for gagging him up with ice over his mouth. He looked down at his feet and without hesitation, froze his feet to keep him still - "Stay... Good boy" he teased, only hearing a muffled annoyed groan out from Omrin before he felt the presence of Supergirl.
He turned round to face her, his face slightly heating up a little, if it were a different situation, he'd be firing tons of questions at her already... But it wasn't that situation right now... This was a serious situation, resulting in fighting.
"I don't want to fight you" Y/N pleaded, disappointed he'd have to fight his quote on quote crush. But to his surprise, Supergirl looked disappointed too, sighing in return and shaking her head.
"I don't want to fight you too, but your friends chose the hard way, and I have my orders" she got in a fighting stance which seemed familiar to Y/N, his facial expression soon turned from disappointed to impressed, he already knew what stance she was in. She is pretty much Kryptonian military trained in a way.
"I also have my orders too, but be warned ~" he rather smirked afterwards, setting himself into a stance to show he's ready to engage in combat - "When there is smoke, there is fire" a mask appeared over his face which only covered his nose and mouth, a smoky aura appeared around him as ice went down his right arm while fire went down the other arm, showing off his three main abilities.
He finished showing off, before his hand reached out, gesturing a 'come here' toward Supergirl.
She rolls her eyes and instantly turns into a blur, within a second she was at his face.
He noticed how quick she was, and blocked her jab before blocking a few more, she was rather impressed but concerned if he was human or not, how could he manage to block her fast jabs?
Their fight continued after Y/N surprised her by incasing himself in ice, completely covering himself up before she looked on, she couldn't even detect his heartbeat anymore, before she sensed his heartbeat behind her and flipped him over as he tried surprise attacking her with a weapon made out of ice.
"Crap" he cussed at himself, Supergirl's fist came down at him like a speeding bullet but he managed to get out of the way as she punched the ground instead, disappearing like a smoke bomb before reappearing.
"You're quick" she complimented.
"Aw thank you! That's really kind of -" he was shut up by Supergirl firing her heat vision toward him, which seemed to hit him, causing him to groan in a little bit of pain. He felt the burn.
"But not as quick as me" she told herself in her head.
'This person, Y/N was it? He's no ordinary meta-human, even after a scan of him using my X-Ray vision, he definitely isn't new here, nor does any records show that he's of this planet... Or even this Earth. He is human but... He must be from a different Earth' Kara thought to herself.
"Oh yeah, we can play fire with fire alright" he smirked before a fire ball was fired toward her, Supergirl saw it coming and braced herself but the fire ended up hurting her, she hissed in pain as she remembered.
'Damn! Forgot his abilities are magic based, which we Kryptonians aren't fully immune to, unlike bullets and all sorts of things that aren't magic or anything like that' she said to herself - 'But he's thinking this all a game to him, the way he's showing off his abilities. Rao, he's probably going to make Damian Wayne run for his money at this point if he keeps this up'
Before she continued thinking within her head, she felt something wrap around her, a rope dart that had a fiery tip. She looked toward Mancer who had the other side of this rope dart, the rope made out of metal chains.
He yanked her toward him but that only seemed to move her a little before she braced herself, he tried yanking her again as she looked at him before rolling her eyes.
"Really?" she spoke one word with a unamused facial expression, before she began floating up, attempting to give him a ride of a lifetime.
But... She was yanked back down onto the ground with force, yelping. Thumping into the ground violently as the rope dart retracted and was thrown out toward her again, immediately recovering from being yanked into the ground and caught the tip of the dart with her hand, though it was slightly burning her hand.
"GET OVER HERE!" a devilish voice shouted out from her foe, yanking her toward him with inhuman strength, for a human to do this? She'd definitely had to be more careful.
Before she could even react, being flung toward him, he cocked his arm back and violently clotheslined her, which caused herself to do a backflip before landing on her stomach.
'Agh! He's mighty strong, and his powers? I need to be more careful, no more playing nice' she got back up before flying up and eying him down.
"Well that's unfair" she heard him mutter under his breath, throwing up the dart again, only this time she dodged it and fired her heat vision down at him.
He dodged her attack within a millisecond and threw a fireball at her, she dodged that too before rocketing herself toward him with her fists in front of her as if she was going to do a super speed flight punch, turning into a blur at this point.
"Look alive!" she flew into him, punching him square in the face with both her fists in front of her which seemed to send him backwards.
She braced herself and landed a few feet in front of him as she heard him groan out in a little pain, knowing she broke his jaw which surprised her.
'I broke his jaw? Maybe he's not as indestructible as I thought, well... He is still human after all. The again I did break Conner's jaw once' she told herself before hearing the sound of his jaw being put back into place, a piece of metal fell to the floor as he looked down.
"She... She broke the mask?! Ugh great" he sighed loudly, sounding heartbroken a little too.
"It was just a stupid mask anyway, not like you needed it" she rolled her eyes, which made him look at her immediately and he did not look happy at all.
"That... Was my dad's mask! And I didn't expect you to break it that easily" he scolded her, before picking up the piece of it before closing his eyes, knowing he shouldn't have been wearing it in the first place. Supergirl noticed the tone in his voice, which made her rethink her actions.
'Ugh... Well done Kara, you broke something that meant to someone, again. Though it was their fault for bringing it with them to begin with' she scolded at herself before continuing her thoughts 'He said it's his father's? Something tells me that he won't be happy with what happened to it'
She let the thought aside as their combat continued, he decided to outsmart her by teleporting away by causing smoke to surround her as she looked amused at this tactic.
"Uh, do you realize I can see you right? I have X-ray vision and all ~" She chuckled out of pity for him, she could see him getting ready to attack her from beyond the smoke - "And I can do this" she suddenly began breathing in the smoke, taking it all in for puffing it away into the sky.
She thought she'd found him... But only found nothing where he was standing before, this made her worry. Was he with the smoke or?
All of a sudden, she felt herself being kicked backwards by Y/N, appearing out of thin air in front of her before an ice wall appeared behind her and she collided with it.
"FYI, I can multitask my own abilities at the same time. I concealed myself in shadow to surprise you... But I admit, your speed is incredible -" he began to get distracted talking about her, labeling some of his thoughts about her too.
'Okay... Maybe he won't make the little Wayne run for his money and Jon was right... He sure is my number 1 stalker' the thought made her cringe 'But... He seems genuine about what he thinks... Too bad I have a job to do'
He seemed too distracted in gushing about her that she took this opportunity to speed herself toward him and landed a world breaking punch on him which sent him flying back across the ground.
He had been flung back at least pretty far, not far away to keep an eye on Omrin as he watched but it was far.
Y/N began to get up, feeling the effects of that powerful punch she inflicted on him which would be enough to knock someone down immediately, he groaned in pain as his stomach stung from the hit - "Augh! Ow!... *groans in pain* Okay... That actually hurt..." he got on one knee as he still felt the sting from the punch.
She floated toward him, arms crossed as she began to scold him - "Do you often get this distracted during fights? News flash for ya, this isn't a game" she frowned with annoyance, like she was a teacher at a school, telling off a bad student for bad behavior.
He chuckled at her, she was right, it wasn't a game - "I know... I'm just distracted, not because of what you said... But... It's hard trying to fight you since your face up close seems to distract me a lot, it's annoyingly cute" he admitted what distracted him, blushing slightly afterwards as he chuckled nervously.
He thought he would feel something worse coming toward him when saying that but in truth? Supergirl just looked down at him with a surprised look, blushing herself too.
She didn't know what to say, at a lost of words... She only blushed hard after it sunk in, she knew what he meant.
"Wait a second... Uh... Did you just... Call me cute?" she asked, her face still showing the blush on her cheeks
"You know what I mean but I gotta ask? That martial arts style... That was Klurkor right? You learned Klurkor too?" he then asked her, his hand lit up with a yellowish light, healing himself with Solar Healing, she could even feel it radiating off of him as she felt the energy power herself up a little, which even healed her up too pretty quickly.
'Klurkor? How does he know the Kryptonian martial arts? I might have to pay Jon 20 bucks on that stalker theory now... Or does he know Kryptonian history?' she thought to herself. Shocked to even think he knew the Kryptonian martial arts she underwent.
"How do you know that? You know Kryptonian history?!" she asked him almost immediately, floating down to the ground afterwards as she walked up to him cautiously.
"Yeah... I know what that symbol stands for too. Hope, the House of El... I believe there was another motto too? It was called... El Maru? El Mari?" he looked confused, she took this opportunity to fully walk up to him as he tried getting back up.
All her suspicions about him washed off pretty much immediately, she offered her hand to him which he looked at cautiously - "El Mayarah, it means Stronger Together" she smiled, knowing a human knows this much about Kryptonian history, she was eager to test him how much he knows. Even though they're just strangers.
"Yeah... El Mayarah, always loved that word. Wow you are pretty strong too, that punch? I felt that" he rubbed his stomach and she giggled at him.
"Well... I am super strong and I have lifted tons of weight on my shoulders before so and according to my cousin, I'm a little stronger than him" she shrugged with a smile, boasting about her strength - "Sorry for that by the way, got carried away when fighting you... Well, it's been a tough few weeks for me and I'm just a little worked up" her face fell flat when she continued speaking, knowing she has been a little stressed out as of late.
"No no, I get it... It's fine really. Honestly? Surprised you stopped fighting me to just chat instead, y'know? Talk it out and all instead of fighting" he cocked up an eyebrow.
"Yeah... I guess" Supergirl agreed with a shrug, a small smile on her face as awkward silence fell between them, she could see he was pretty nervous, how could she? By just telling by the paste of his heartbeat going fast, his way to avoid eye contact too, but she felt nervous too, so at least he wasn't the only one - "So... Heard you were a fan of me? Superboy, who is my cousin's son, heard you talk about me, I thought you were just a stalker at first but this now just squashed that theory" her smile grew back as she asked the question.
"What? Oh uh... Yeah, y-yeah... In a way, I am a fan of you and what you've accomplished, I've always wanted to meet a Kryptonian face to face. I know I'm pretty nervous about this" he rubbed the back of his neck, blushing a little as he looked away from her.
"It's okay to feel nervous. But I wanna know something... How much do you know about Kryptonian history? I know this hasn't got anything to do with this current situation... I just need to know if I can... Trust you" she asked him, looking at him with a pleading face, he looked back as he thought of an answer.
"On my Earth, there used to be living and breathing Kryptonians, their history was left on Earth after they suddenly disappeared, once they were Earth's protectors who suddenly vanished without any explanation, no one knows why or what happened" he explained.
'That figures, he is from another Earth' she thought to herself.
"But... I learned the history they left behind, even some of their martial arts, Klurkor was one of them. This was after I learned to control my abilities after Liang taught me to harness them within. That is why I recognized your fighting stance, how I caught your attacks quickly, I learnt to adapt to you within seconds" he explained further, which interested Supergirl further.
"Guessing that's how you used learned to use your Solar thing to heal yourself there? ~" she asked him to which he nodded a yes to her, since she seen him use that Solar magic to heal himself - "I do know you have a lot of questions you want to ask me, Superboy told me that too and... I know you have a little crush on me" she said with an amused tone along with a blush rising up on her face, she's dealt with people who have admitted to crushing on her before, but not to this extent, especially finding Y/N as a handsome and what appears to be, a very kind person overall.
"Uh *nervous laugh* Yes I, I-I-I m-mean! ~ I have no idea wh-what you're on about" he blushed heavily, being confronted by his crush really seemed to make him stutter.
The Maiden of Might only giggled at his stammering words, she was interested so far - "Y/N is it?" she offered her hand to him to shake.
He looked down at her hand and smiled as the violent red blush began to fade away, knowing he's going to shake her hand - "Yeah... You can call me Mancer too, my friends call me Multitasker and a whole a bunch of other names that correspond with my powers" he shook her hand, making eye contact with her.
"Kara, Kara Zor-El, or Kara Danvers. You already know the rest" she winked, their hand shake ending a second later. He looked back to where Kara broke his mask after that fly by punch she gave him earlier.
Kara saw the look on his face, he looked disheartened - "I'm sorry about breaking your father's mask, I know it won't fix it but..." she apologized, placing her hand on her right upper arm knowing she was guilty.
"It's alright, I shouldn't have been wearing it in the first place... It belonged to dad, but... He's long since been gone" he replied, Kara's head perked up at that moment upon hearing what he said about his father, which made her stomach drop.
She broke his late dad's mask.
"Oh... I didn't know, I'm s-sorry to hear that" she felt really guilty at that moment, she'd do anything to fix it. That mask seemed to mean a lot to him now knowing the fact is was his late dad's mask...
Which gave her an idea.
"It's okay Supergirl, you don't need to feel bad for me or anything, we should get the others to stop-"
"No no, I-I can fix it for you! There's tech back at the Fortress of Solitude that can repair it, making the mask look like it is brand new!" she interrupted him by appearing in front of him, their height pretty much almost matching too as he was in a state of shock when her face was a little close to his. However, that feeling was soon left out of the way upon thinking back to what she said just now.
"Uh... You... Y-You can fix my dad's mask?" he asked her with curiosity the next, she nodded her head immediately.
"Yep! No need to-" she got interrupted by getting pulled onto him, she felt his arms wrap around her as her most of her face was over his shoulder, all she needed to do was be on her tippy toes to rest her chin on his shoulder.
"Ugh, you're the best! That really means a lot, thank you so much" he hugged her with gratitude without thinking, her expression showed she was flabbergasted by the random hug, even blushing a little too as a few seconds go by.
That was when he realized the position he was in, his eyes opened wide as he began blushing, pulling back slightly as the two looked at each other, blinking.
"Uh..." he looked awkward, sounded nervous and what didn't help was that he was blushing a little also.
"Don't be" she smiled, already knowing what he was going to say afterwards, causing him to smile also.
"I have so many questions I want to ask you" he told the girl, making her giggle at his words.
"I know! And I'm very eager to hear them all" her smile brightened, that smile that could make a person's heart flutter.
"I'll tell you them all later, but for now? We need to take Omrin back to our world"
"You mean, you need to take Omrin back to your world? Which I'm not supposed to let you do?" Kara asked him with a cocked up eyebrow, noticing his little mistake there.
"Oh, yeah... About that... Think you'll let us? Omrin is a danger to your world, leave him in Stryker Island? He'll just find a way to break out. Trust me, it's happened before on my Earth, he broke out of the world's securest Supermax Prisons and manipulated his way to get out ~" Y/N spoke with his side on the situation, knowing Omrin is a danger to this world, especially now that he pretty much dismantled the world's greatest heroes on this Earth - "Please... Let us take him back to my world, he won't harm any one of your Earth's people again... I promise. We won't kill him, we don't stand for that, we let the judge decide the punishment once he's brought in for trial" he asked her politely, knowing the answer was going to be no anyway. She had her orders after all.
But... To his surprise... She didn't answer straight away, a sigh left her mouth instead as he wondered what her worded answer was going to be.
She looked puzzled, she had no clue how to even answer it, all she knew was that Omrin needed to be taken in to Stryker Island for his crimes and manipulation to get his way.
"I... I don't know if I can answer that... I mean, we're supposed to take him to Stryker Island, and you want to take him back to your world to bring him into justice your way by executing him ~" she spoke of the two sides fighting over a captive with a sigh, as if she needed more stress as it is - "But... I know for a fact my cousin and the League won't trust you and your allies at all, he's already signaled the rest of the active League members to come here to assist them, and they'll be here very shortly" she continued, bringing up another problem in the current situation. Causing her to look the other direction, away from his eyes.
"Well... I trust you... Maybe you can convince him?" he asked the troubled Supergirl, a smile escaped from her at his other words.
"I can try ~" she looked back at him with the same smile on her face still - "You already trust me?"
"Why shouldn't I? You're the Girl of Steel, the Woman of Tomorrow right? And I am a fan of you" he shrugged.
"Haha, fair point" she giggled, the two made eye contact again, smiles exchanged towards each other.
However... The moment was ruined by a sudden shout and wrestling from afar, Y/N fully broke apart from Supergirl as the two looked at the direction of the wrestling.
"You ain't going anywhere Sorcerer!" Satine wrestled on the ground with him, leaving Y/N to wonder how Omrin managed to break free of his bonds, thinking his powers would be useless against his ice.
"Well, I guess I was wrong, he could still break out if he wanted to" Y/N groaned before noticing Supergirl began levitating toward Satine and Omrin wrestling each other.
"Unhand me you worm!" Omrin cussed, trying to use his magic to break free of Satine's hold on him.
The two continued struggling to fight each other on the ground as Supergirl drew closer to the both, wanting to help Y/N's ally out of kindness, now knowing they could be trusted.
"May I?" Supergirl landed on the ground before delivering a punch onto Omrin which was heard from a distance, knocking Omrin out cold as he stopped squirming. Dusting her hands off with an accomplished smirk on her face.
Satine noticed he was out cold and looked up at the Girl of Steel who she didn't expect to get help from as she got up off the ground.
"Good riddance... Thank you by the way, didn't expect you to help the last minute there" Satine cracked her neck, sharing her gratitude for the save. The Kryptonian smiled in response to her thanks.
Y/N had ran up to the two woman finally as he looked down at the unconscious Omrin - "Well he definitely deserved that ~" he spat out before looking at Satine and Supergirl - "Where's Liang and Xalex? Still fighting I take it?" he asked Satine.
"Pretty sure they are, I got knocked back far by Superman Junior, Xalex is the one fighting him right now. Liang? Probably the same" Satine answered as Supergirl narrowed her eyes past Satine, seeing the said people still fighting her own two family members.
"Yep... And your boss is... Actually managing to kick my cousin's ass" she sounded surprised, 'maybe they were pretty skilled at fighting superpowered beings after all', was the thought she had in her own head. Never thinking she'd see the day too.
"Supergirl is going to talk down Superman and his... Son that we're not the enemies in this. She's well aware of Omrin and she's eager to help us" Y/N told Satine about Kara's rather helping hand from earlier which she was convinced either way.
"So, she can be trusted?" Satine tested him, to see if he was right before looking at the blonde haired girl.
"Yes, I trust that she'll help us, her cousin's allies are also going to be here soon... So... We'll definitely need her to talk them down from attacking us" he looked at her and a smile was exchanged from her after she looked at him.
"Well, let's get on with it before it happens then, I'll stay here, keep an eye on the snake here" she self acclaimed to remain behind, spitting out Omrin's nickname before looking down at his unconscious body with a disgusted look.
"Good... So..." he looked at her before she read him like a book and wrapped an arm around him and began levitating off the ground, lifting him up with her. Surprised at this action, he looked at Supergirl before she chuckled
"I already knew what you were gonna say... Was just a step ahead of you" she winked.
* *
(Some time later...)
It was rather a surprise that it took some little convincing that the alternative heroes were here on good intentions and not to take a captive back for execution, Supergirl was relieved that her cousin and her nephew stopped their fight with Xalex and Liang respectively.
Though the Man of Steel was still a little suspicious about the group of alternative heroes, he was fine with a temporary alliance until the EDC were to go back to their respective Earth, regarding their common enemies.
However, it seemed not only was Omrin the only villain of the EDC's Earth that arrived to this Earth, he made an alliance with a mafia mob boss who travels to different worlds, going by the name Becknar, a man who specializes in his own way of criminal activity, especially when he has a mob of his own to conduct in criminal business.
Omrin was interrogated by the EDC Heroes at the Hall of Justice, given the temporary alliance. He had no choice but to spill the beans and give out a location, which the location was in fact... New York City, at the abandoned LIC Fresh Direct Site where business had been conducted there with a mafia boss named Roman Sionis aka...
Black Mask... Leader of the Sionis Crime Family.
The question was... "What is Black Mask doing in New York City?"
Gotham bored him dry, every time he conducted business, Batman or any of the Bat-Family would barge in and interrupt his business and he got sick of it, deciding to work elsewhere and move on from trying to overthrow the Billionaire Playboy Bruce Wayne.
And tonight? There was to be a meeting with Black Mask and Becknar, discussing arms deals and arrangements.
With this information... Liang struck a plan to have someone recon the place and infiltrate the compound, stop their plans altogether and capture Becknar for questioning and to bring him behind bars.
And he knew the suitable person for the job... Despite the lower numbers.
"Me? You sure? I'm not the type of person who's better at doing these things alone, since I'm the only ninja we have right now" Y/N looked puzzled and worried.
"You are the suitable person for the job Mancer, you're a ninja and a warrior, and you're not always going to work alongside others in stealth covert missions" he spoke with a serious manner. "I'm trusting that you'll get the job done without any problems, you're remarkable at stealth and none of us are built for that... Not even me" he admitted to not being the greatest at stealth, but he spoke to him as a father figure with the truth.
"Yeah but... I'm not sure if I'm ready to go alone, I'm still learning as it is, I've not mastered the full art of stealth" he told him, sounding like he was unworthy of being a ninja warrior.
Liang put a hand on Y/N's shoulder to console him. "Then let this mission be a test, your first covert mission alone, with no backup from any other ninja. I am trusting you with this, don't let your other ninja brothers and sisters down".
However, during this... Their conversation was being eavesdropped upon by Superboy, the Man of Steel's son who informed him about Liang's orders to Mancer aka Y/N. With this info, Superman made a call to a certain someone who patrols New York City to protect it from criminal activity.
* *
Y/N ran across the rooftops of New York City, using his grapple hook to traverse the busy city below him as he grappled from roof to roof, using his own abilities to make impossible jumps, not suited for a normal human being to make.
His destination was the LIC Fresh Direct Site that was no longer in commission, just the average villain hideout.
As he kept moving toward his destination, he had a feeling he wasn't alone... The feeling of someone with a red cape with a fully colored yellow S shield on the cape and golden blonde long wavy hair, watching him parkour across the city buildings with ease.
He could practically see his own destination now as he drew near.
"Alright, you can do this. Just scope the place out, sneak around, take down some bad guys quietly, get in, take down more bad guys quietly and catch Becknar by surprise, maybe Black Mask too?" he spoke to himself loudly in between breaths as he kept moving. "This time? Doing it alone... You can do this Y/N, you can do this" he said with nervousness.
He now stopped to land on a nearby perch to scope out the compound with binoculars and as he does this? He heard some girly giggling behind him as he stopped looking into his binoculars. Startled by the sudden giggling.
"Do you usually talk to yourself this much when you're alone? It's pretty cute honestly" he heard the girl giggle, floating just behind him above. Turning himself round to look at the nosey girl... Who is Supergirl.
"Oh... H-Hey" he spoke with shy intent, a blush rushing up his cheeks after her words processed in his head. "You think that's... Cute? Wait... What are you doing here? I'm on a covert mission that I have to do alone" he asked the real question.
"Ah well... Kal wants me to uh... Overlook your covert mission" she responded with some air quote signatures near the end of her words. "And since it's in New York, I also patrol here! So... Yeah, plus if I didn't know about it, I'd end up being nosey anyway" she spoke cheerfully, giggling afterwards at him talking to himself earlier.
"So... He doesn't trust us is what you're implying?" he asked as he stood up from the perch he took and crossed his arms.
"Well... Yeah" the Girl of Steel sighed. "Look, there's been a lot that has happened and... Well... You can imagine that trust is a very strong word so it'll take some time to earn his trust, especially with one of the League's closest allies betraying them recently which has broken that level of trust as of late" she explained as she floated closer to him, now levitating steadily beside him.
"Oh, I get it" he shrugged, knowing how it feels.
"Yeah, don't worry though. I trust you" she winked. "I did speak with Satine and she has told me some things about you".
"I imagine good things" he sounded worried.
"Don't worry! It was all good things... Including the uh... Crush on this gal right here type of thing" he pointed to herself as a blush ran up his face again.
'Ugh, Satine was right, he's cute, very cute... Rao he's more than cute, he's adorably cute' Kara thought to herself as she blushes a little by gushing over his looks, the way he'd look away every time someone mentioned his little crush on the Kryptonian girl made her realize she maybe beginning to fall for him.
Or when Kara would look at Y/N back at the Hall of Justice and catch him steal some looks at her before looking away with a little blush on his face. Seriously, she had to admit that he's cute.
She knows of his backstory, which all reminded her of what happened on Krypton, she lost a planet, her own people.
He lost a village he called home. He lost his own people too, but the only thing he had left was his own mother.
It was no wonder why she felt so interested about knowing him more from other people, she didn't just want to know the boy who has a crush on her, she wants to know the real him.
"So..." she spoke with her hands behind her back. "Is it alright if I join you on this? Ya never know if you need some girl power in this" she asked politely, smiling as she spoke.
Y/N considered it for a moment, then again he had to prove he could do missions alone now, without the need of other ninjas like him... But he had to admit, having someone with him could work, especially if it's a superpowered, practically indestructible alien superhero.
"Eh, sure why not... But I know stealth isn't your strong suit" he teased with a smirk.
"What?! Pfft, that's a lot of bull! I'm great at stealth!" she denied.
"You sure? I read your file and I quote" he took a breath before explaining what he read up earlier. "Supergirl isn't known for her skill of stealth, no thanks to the bright colors on her suit, but rather a force to be reckoned with as she is someone to rely on. When it comes facing off larger and stronger threats, speeding targets, she's one of the many powerhouses that can deal with those threats thanks to her many abilities like Superman's, but like Superman, Supergirl can be good for other purposes of distraction to hold the enemy at bay while others can move into their proceeded objectives without issue" he said with some smarts, causing her to gasp.
"Oh, you really shouldn't have!" she played like she was offended, holding a hand to her heart. "the knowledge, It's killing me!" she exaggerated before erupting in a fit of giggles, causing him to giggle with her.
Their giggles soon ended as the humor between them died down, Y/N re-focused on his task as Supergirl still floated beside him.
"So... Heard Black Mask was conducting business here tonight" Supergirl went on. "Question is... What is he doing in my turf?" the Kryptonian wondered by scratching her chin. "I guess Gotham was boring him so he decided to move here... Humph! Big mistake now that I'm around" she gloated next.
"Don't underestimate your enemies, Kara. You never knew what-"
"What they're capable of... I've heard that many times before" she rolled her eyes playfully, causing Mancer to lightly chuckle.
"Well... Since you're the one with X-ray vision... Can you do the honors?" he asked her like a gentleman.
"Already on it" she winked before her eyes glowed a light blue, her eyes narrowed as her vision zoomed in, her super hearing picked up.
"And you're sure this... Device, can do the job?" Black Mask aka Roman Sionis spoke as he looked down at some weapon case.
"The device can get the job done, it can shut off any electronics within 50 meters or less, I can imagine what you'll do with it but even better? My scientist is currently working on a device, capable of shutting off radiation sources... Which includes Kryptonian based powers thanks to the radiation of the yellow sun" Kara heard the voice belonging to Becknar.
Kara's vision went back to normal as she blinked a few times before turning her head to face Y/N.
"What'd you see? Is Becknar in there?" Y/N asked.
"I think that's him and Black Mask is in there too, they're selling some sort of device that can shut off electronics within 50 meters or less, and he has someone working on a something that can shut out a Kryptonian's powers" she sounded worried the more she explained. Confirming Y/N's theory and the Intel provided earlier.
"That's definitely Becknar alright, let's head inside, there's a bunch of guards outside" he spoke to her as he leapt off before firing his grapple book. "I'll need to take them out quietly, maybe you can help since... You're the one with flight and super speed" he suggested.
"Or" the Maiden of Might stopped him before he advanced further. "We can do something different"
"Like what?" he asked with a confused look as she smirked.
"Well... Supergirl isn't known for her skill for stealth" she repeated what he said earlier. "Supergirl can be good for other purposes of distraction to hold the enemy at bay while others can move into their proceeded objectives without issue. I'll distract the guards, you get in and do your job" her smirk turned into a smart grin as he smiled at the girl.
"Wow... You're a smart girl" he complimented.
"Aww thank you! I know I am but it's nice hearing it from you" she winked. "So... Shall I do the honors?" she asked nicely.
"Well... On you go Supergirl, dance floor's yours" he exaggerated, the female superhero winked before flying off to be the distraction.
He advanced forward as he watched the Kryptonian do a Superhero Landing in the middle of the compound as the guards were startled.
"Hey boys!" she shouted as the guards all gained her attention. "Allow me to welcome you to New York City and you didn't invite me also? I'm hurt" she taunted them.
"Shit, it's her!" one of the guards panicked and went for the alarm button, only for them to be caught up by the Girl of Steel in an instant.
"Ah-Ah-Ah, I don't think so" she punched him across the compound to where he'd land on a bunch of stacked boxes.
Y/N whistled lightly at this as he watched her taunt them more, smiling as she continued.
"Atta girl, now to head inside" he advanced furthermore. "But to find a stealthier way in".
* *
Y/N silently walked throughout the warehouse before silently teleporting onto a railing using his smoke magic to do so, quickly noticing a lookout guard, he sprang onto him and attacked him, using his ice staff which had the guard knocked out cold (no pun intended) upon the impact to his head.
He leapt over to the other walkway where he was fully concealed, listening in to what the conversation followed as.
"To be honest? I was expecting to have something in return... Since I am offering such a powerful device for your mafia to use" Becknar hinted which Black Mask narrowed his eyes toward him, scowling him even behind his mask.
"You were expecting something? I thought this was an alliance, you help me, I help you. What you're offering is for both of us" he slightly gets annoyed with this hint, causing Becknar to frown.
"An alliance? Did I say that?" he frowned expression, turned to wonder. He was rather puzzled at this as he didn't see this as an alliance, but more of... Two people having common enemies.
"You damn right you did! That sorcerer said it himself!" he scowled, already losing his temper with Becknar's wording of things.
"And yet we have talked business, I've given what you needed, and I'm willing to give you another device in return of our... Shared agreement. Now... The money..." he simply snapped his fingers as his men took aim at Black Mask and his own mafia goons. "Or else... There will be consequences and I'll take the device back, it'd be a shame to ruin that fancy suit of yours with bullet holes... And blood" he smirked upon throwing out his cigar.
Simon growled with anger, being outplayed like this wasn't in his list of things, especially by someone who is another mob boss.
"Fine! I'll give you money, if that's what you insist" he hissed at the well travelled mob boss in return he smirked at the masked mob boss.
"Then... The device is yours-" Becknar was interrupted as a guard from outside was suddenly came crashing through the window, startling every one... Even Y/N himself.
'Girl must be enjoying herself out there' Y/N smirked.
"What the fuck! What's going on out there!" Black Mask shouted, demanding to know why one of his goons was thrown through the window from outside, let alone with gunfire ringing out before stopping each second.
Before any question were asked and answered, Y/N suddenly jumped down, revealing himself to every one who gained his attention.
"Mancer" Becknar hissed.
"Hello Beck, been a while" his hand lit with ice before an ice ball was fired out, hitting Becknar in the chest. "Ice to meet you too" he joked as guns were pointed toward him.
The Black Mask stood up from his seat as his men along with Becknar's men all pointed their weapons toward the ninja.
"Black Mask... Roman Sionis, I've come to shut down this whole op you've got going on here and I'm taking Becknar with me... All I ask... Is that you and your goons leave New York City... Or something worse is gonna come your way" he tried intimidating the masked mob boss, before an eruption of laughter came out from Roman himself before he growled.
"As much as he was a pain in my ass... He told me about you... What's got you vigilante's always interrupting my damn business?!" he began to scowl. "And here you are... Surrounded by guns of all sorts, no way to run... Or hide. And you have the decency to threaten me? ME?! Who do you think you are? The Red Hood? If that's who is out there, kindly tell him to fuck off for me will you?" he walked back to his seat and picked up his suit jacket.
"Oh? The Red Hood? I never brought him nor have I met the guy personally... Do you realize who patrols New York City... Right?" he asked Mask the question.
"What? You questioning me now? Boy?" he looked at the ninja with a frowned look under his mask.
"Yeah... Now answer the question" he demanded.
Black Mask looks puzzled, wondering what the ninja was meaning, no one ever patrols New York from what he heard, especially from the pair of goons who scoped the place before hand. "No... I don't... Because I had people scope out the city for vigilantes, like you"
"Haha, that's where you're mistaken... See" he attempted to move but a warning shot narrowly missed his foot, he remained unmoved by this. "Who patrols the city... Isn't a vigilante, she's... more than a vigilante" he spoke in riddles, causing Mask to be curious.
"And who is she?" he asked, getting closer to the ninja.
"Well... She wears this symbol" he hinted, as the warehouse main door was suddenly hit by a crashing thug outside, startling most of the guards who now aimed their weapons toward the main door. "This symbol... Represents... Hope, but it's got an S instead" he smirked as Mask began to suddenly realize who the ninja was referring to.
He could tell by the look in Mask's eyes that fear was running down his body as he backed up.
"Shit... Shit... Shit!! You're working with her?!" Roman understandably panicked, before the main door was breached, sending it to the floor with a thud.
A blur of blue and red with some yellowish blonde streaks suddenly sped into the warehouse, taking out the guards surrounding Y/N with weapons, swiftly taking them all out with one punch, the blur appeared beside Y/N in the form of Supergirl, now appearing beside the ninja.
"Hey, Black Mask! Next time you do criminal business, make sure there isn't a boy or girl scout patrolling the city next time!" she spoke with her hands on her hips, feeling the adrenaline in her veins as she said it. Giving him a tip.
"Argh! Damn you Kryptonians!" he cursed out before making a run for it, refusing to even fight back at the slightest knowing it wasn't going to work.
Mancer and Supergirl look at each other and smirk and shake their heads. "They never learn, do they?" he asked the Kryptonian.
"Nope, this won't take long" she winked before speeding off.
Black Mask ran hopelessly to find a safe exit away from the Kryptonian who just watched him run helplessly, all the guards were knocked out, including Becknar's guards.
As he saw an exit, hope ran up his spine before a gust of wind and a blur went past him, Supergirl leaned on the wall beside the door.
"Going somewhere?" she asked as Roman turned back around in a hurry, running the opposite way before he was stopped yet again by the Girl of Steel. "Besides jail?" she smirked, posing confidentially as he began to back up.
"Hey hey, let's just agree to let me go okay? I'll-I'll... I'll leave by tomorrow, I promise! Me, my men, all of them! Gone by tomorrow" he begged for the Maid of Might to let him go.
"Hmm... Not so sure about that... Since you've been up to business while I've been busy outside New York, especially conducting business with someone of interest to a friend of mine" she crossed her arms before she saw Y/N teleport behind him. "Plus... I'm sure he'll also agree too" she smirked and looked toward Y/N.
Roman turned round and was met with a fist toward his masked face, surprisingly knocking out the masked mob boss out cold. "Ow... His mask really is made out of metal"
* *
Mancer and Supergirl both gathered up the unconsciously beaten goons of Roman's men and Becknar's men for soon the NYPD would soon arrive to make arrests as a fellow hero would arrive, most notably a Green Lantern named Kyle Rayner who bubbled up Becknar's goons along with the boss Becknar himself now unfrozen and cuffed with him back to Liang and the others.
"When I get out, I'm going to-" Black Mask was cut off by the door shutting on him by a police van that held some of his goons inside.
As the last remaining goons were being escorted out from the warehouse by heavily armed cops, Supergirl suddenly approached Y/N who was just about to leave the scene, which surprised him.
"Hey" she waved as she floated down to the ground lightly. "We uh, we made a pretty good team back there... Though I did most of the work" she chuckled awkwardly at the end, looking down as she did so with a cute smile on her face.
"Yeah... I guess we made a good team back there" he agreed with her on that one, he was pretty shocked about it.
"Also I uh... Want to apologize about... Not letting you do this covert mission on your own, if that's what you wanted" she looked guilty, throwing herself under the bus which Y/N frowned at.
"No no, it's alright!" he reassured her which made her look back at him. "I'm glad we worked together on this, despite Liang saying this mission was mine to do alone, I'm just not ready to work alone so... It was nice to have someone different to work with me for a change"
"Really?" she asked him curiously with a slight smile.
"Mhm, I mean it" he smiled, causing her to fully smile. "Since you're here still... Mind if I ask you something?" he asked with the growing feeling of butterflies in his stomach.
"Y-Yeah sure! Anything" she happily answered with her hands on her hips.
"Would it be alright if... Maybe... If you could... Give me a lift... Back? As much as I do enjoy running and teleporting my way back, I was wondering if you'd take me back since... Well, you can fly and-"
"Sure! I'd be more than happy to!" she suddenly swooped up the boy in her arms swiftly, interrupting him from speaking more.
The action made his face flush red, a move he didn't expect to happen so sudden. Supergirl carrying him like a groom would carry their bride but if the roles were reversed, the bride carrying the groom instead.
He felt the wind catch up as the Girl of Steel began floating up with a smile on her face. "You're gonna enjoy this, this is my favorite part" she gleefully spoke, the sparkle in her eyes as she flew up, up and away into the sky.
The city below them began getting smaller as seconds go by, Supergirl begins to fly forward as the wind picks up, her cape and hair billow behind her as she flew forward, a smile began to grow on Y/N's face as he's never experienced this before.
"This is... Amazing!" his smile grew into a grin, feeling the air hit his face lightly as the Maiden of Might giggles.
"I know! It's my favorite part, whenever I'm bored I just fly around, close my eyes and just daydream of things or listen to the sounds I can hear that are peaceful, like birds chirping" spoke the cheerful Kara Zor-El. "Have you never experienced this before? Because it doesn't seem like you have" she asked him all of a sudden.
"Yeah" he looked at her. "We don't have anyone who can bend the laws of gravity anymore, not since the Kryptonians left Earth years ago before my time or my parent's time" he explained more about his Earth and his experience.
Kara's face softened at this. "That must've been years and years ago"
"It was, but this Earth is unlike my Earth, it's so... Modernized than futuristic, and for some reason? I... Actually like it more better" he admitted sadly.
"Really?" she asked with a frown.
"Yeah... As much as how sad that sounds? It's the truth, I've always wanted to know what modernized Earth was like, and this is the perfect example. All the data about modernized Earth was lost, destroyed. Everyone from modernized Earth are now gone forever. Which is why I'm thinking of asking permission to stay behind, to remain here instead of going back so I can start research on modernized Earth for our data collectors" he explained further, which made Kara smile again.
"You'd actually want to stay here?" she asked curiously.
"Honestly? Yeah... I'd love to stay here" he admitted with a smile on his face, his smile caused her to smile brightly, the two looked into each other's eyes for a brief moment before looking away, a blush spreading up the ninja's cheeks as she kept her smile upon looking forward.
It didn't take long for them to arrive at the designated destination, the current HQ of Y/N's allies shortly put up by the help of some fellow Leaguers to assist in their ongoing investigation of the situation.
Kara gracefully landed on the ground gently before putting down Y/N onto his feet as the two exchanged a glance and a smile.
"Well... This is bye for now I suppose, I gotta get back to my New York apartment, Streaky is probably going nuts right now" Kara spoke with a worried tone.
"Who's Streaky?" Y/N innocently asked.
"My cat" she answered quickly.
"Oh... You have a cat? That's cool" he smiled.
Kara smiled back before turning her back to him, getting ready to fly back off.
However... She wasn't expecting for her name to be called out by Y/N, causing her to frown with curiosity and turn round to face him once more.
"Uh... Before you go, can I quickly ask you something" he asked.
Her frown softened as she smiled. "Sure, what's on your mind?" Kara placed her hands on her hips again, wondering what the boy was going to ask her.
"Oh... I didn't think this through" he spoke to himself before snapping out of it. "Uh... So... Are you... Busy? Tomorrow maybe?" he asked with a squinted look on his face.
"Uh... No? Well, judging from the fact that I have patrolling to do usually... Probably if there is any crime" she corrected herself by rolling her eyes at the same time before her eyes narrowed back onto him. "Why?"
"Well... Uh... I uh, wanted to ask you if you... Maybe... Want to go out with me? Y'know like? Get a bite or something? A drink? Dinner maybe?" he asked her which took her by surprise, a question she was definitely not expecting. "You're single... Right?"
'Rao, did he just... Ask me out on a date?!' she asked herself, flustered at the sudden question flung onto her, she wasn't sure how to respond nor act at this moment, her eyes widened at him, mouth a-gape a little. 'Maybe that's why he wanted to stay on this Earth'
He looked at her after asking and he judged by the look on her face that she probably wasn't too happy, his expression saddened before changing his mind.
"Actually... Forget I asked, I didn't mean to offend or anything" he spoke with a saddened tone, rubbing the back of his neck in awkwardness as he looked away, breaking eye contact away from the golden haired heroine.
Kara began smiling softly at him before she decided to walk toward him, she never thought she'd be interested but she sure felt interested in him, knowing he's got a crush on her and the fact he's a fan despite being from another Earth.
She may hardly know him but... That would pass by soon enough.
It wasn't long till Y/N noticed Supergirl walking up to him with a soft expression, her smile grew big as she drew closer to him, before he could even ask what she was doing, he was stopped...
By a pair of lips...
On his left cheek...
Her eyes opened as she pulled back with a huge smile on her face as his cheeks flushed red. "Does that answer your question?" she asked, proud of what she just did. She noticed they were being watched by Satine and Xalex who seemed to be shocked by the whole ordeal.
"A-Are you... Free to go out tomorrow?" he asked her again to which she smirked.
"Yeah, I guess I can call of my plans to patrol tomorrow night, in exchange for our... Date" she spoke softly in a rather warm tone of voice before kissing his other cheek for confirmation which seemed make him blush harder.
It was then she noticed something on the floor, a little piece of paper that was being dragged by the soft wind as her cape blew in the direction of the wind along with her hair.
She knelt down and picked it up with inhuman speed as she looked back at her date for tomorrow. "Got a pen?" she asked.
"Oh uh" he began checking his pockets, before he felt something, not a pen. He checked his back pocket and felt something again. "Ah yes... A pen! For some reason I have one?" he asked himself confused, before handing it over.
She began jotting down something quickly before handing it over to him. "Here's my number, call me" she smiled before floating up.
"Yeah... I will" he smiled as he looked up at her.
"I'll be waiting! Mwah!" she blew him a kiss before flying off as he watched her go. A smile grew big on his face before looking down.
He turned round and as he realized... This was not a dream.
"Wow... I'm going on a date tomorrow... With Supergirl"...

(Friday, The 'Super' Date Night)
Today was the day... Or tonight at least...
News that Mancer asked out the Girl of Steel was brought to mostly everyone's ears, a surprise at most... But there was skepticism about it.
The EDC weren't fully trusted yet, it's only been three days now and with Becknar had been brought in for questioning... Nothing yet has been revealed.
But as of right now? Kara is currently in his cousin's apartment with his wife and son. Jon was out along with Lois Lane Kent.
"I mean... He's just so different from any other boy I've met, there's something about him that interests me" she had her chin on the palm of her hand, waiting for her cup of coffee that was being made by Clark.
"And this happened... Last night?" Clark asked curiously, wondering why his cousin was asked out by someone from a different Earth.
Fair to say? He was happy for her, his skepticism went down the drain upon his talk with Liang... Who is like a father figure to Mancer aka Y/N.
Both Kara and Y/N maybe in their early 20s, but they've both learned a lot, the only difference is?
Kara has been on a date before and it didn't go exactly right and planned.
Y/N hasn't fell in love, nor been on a date. Yet she doesn't know this yet.
"Yeah... After I flew him back to his boss's base of operations, well for now at least, doubt it'll remain once they're back on their Earth" Kara explained. "He's just... So kind and he radiates this aura that got my attention... He has a crush on Supergirl... But what about Kara Danvers? Adopted daughter of Eliza and Jeremiah Danvers? Two former D.E.O agents?" she asked the question.
"I'm sure he also sees you as Kara Danvers too, you told him your name after all" Clark reminded her as he handed her cup of coffee to her. She politely takes it. "Besides? It's a good thing you said yes, maybe it's time to try again and see the world in the eyes of Kara Danvers once more"
"I know but... I feel... Like my heart is drawn to him, but if I get too attached? And when he leaves for his Earth? I... I-I don't know what I'd do, go with him when I'm needed here? I don't exactly want him to leave his family behind just for me" said the now frustrated Kara Zor-El, she knew it was a stupid idea to get somewhat attached to the boy her age. "I probably shouldn't have kissed his cheek and said yes... What did I do?" she whimpered next.
"I'm for sure, something can be worked out" Clark hinted as he went to comfort his upset cousin. "But overall? Enjoy tonight, I'll have someone patrol New York, incase any crime breaks out that could ruin your date with Y/N" Clark smiled.
"Really? You sure something can be worked out? He did say he actually was thinking of wanting to stay here, but that'd split him away from his family" she referred to the group he came with to this Earth.
"I'm sure there is something, a way to keep in contact with that Earth's own heroes incase a threat were to emerge that require their expertise, we need all the heroes we can get, as threats are getting more dangerous now. Threats like Omrin" Clark said with a serious face, he for sure knew it was for the best, if something can be worked out with Liang and the EDC.
"How long could that take?" she asked.
"On that? We're not sure, Liang suggested it to me first, before to the rest of the League higher ups, well... Between me and Batman of course before them and it was approved, an ally to call on you could say" he answered her question, adding more light to the hint he said earlier.
His answer that shed light on the hint made her relieved, she for one had a liking for her date tonight, and she didn't want to feel attached to him only to never see him again, though she was a little nervous about it, since her last date?
Well as said... It was disastrous...
But that was the only thing that worried her mostly now...
"Thanks Cuz" she smiled before hugging him. "Though I am a little worried about my date tonight, considering my last one?" her facial expression now mortified, it worried her for the least second.
"From what Liang has told me... Y/N is one of the kindest fellows he's ever took under his wing, he's brave, bold, patient, compassionate and loyal. He would never hurt a spider from how he explained about him" he told his cousin.
Kara already knew some of this from her observation of him, he was kind, honest and respectable, along with being shy and having a good sense of humor. Something she probably needs in a relationship as of right now.
"I'm sure your date won't go horrible, I'll have someone take over patrolling in New York for tonight, like I said. Enjoy your date with him tonight, be confident nothing will go wrong" he cheered her up again, as she takes a sip from her coffee before breaking into a smile.
"Once again, thanks Cuz" she felt a little more better with hearing his words, no wonder why Lois fell in love with him, he was good at inspiring others.
And Kara hoped one day she could pretty much do the same, though she has done it before, but not as often as Clark has done it.
"Haven't you figured out what you'll be wearing to the date tonight?" Clark asked the question as he picked up his coffee now.
"Oh yeah! I'll get right onto that!!" Kara's eyes widened as she almost shot up from her chair. Once I... Finish this coffee" she remarked before settling down once more.
* *
Y/N stood nervous in his outfit for the date, a leather jacket with jeans and boots, a plain white t-shirt underneath. He was waiting to get picked up for the date, since Kara suggested she'd pick him up.
he agreed but it had been 10 minutes since she said she was flying over to pick him up and fly him back to New York for the date.
And yet... She hasn't arrived.
"Still not here I presume?" He heard a voice behind him, coming from Satine who joined him at least four minutes later
"Yeah... fourteen minutes late pretty much and still going" he sighed, as he looked up at the starry dim sky, beginning to grow worried.
"Hey, don't be too worried. She's probably ran or... Flew into danger" Satine remarked.
"That's why I'm worried!" Y/N replied. "I'm worried that might be the case, I'm tempted to call her but I don't know if she'll pick up" he sounded more worried by the seconds that passed by. Looking back down at the now revealed device on his wrist, bringing up Kara's name on the screen.
"Well you shouldn't worry too much" Satine looked up at the sky.
"Yeah, I know I-"
"No like... You shouldn't, because I can see her" Satine chuckled, getting Y/N to look up at the sky to see Supergirl flying toward them.
And she looked worried as anything.
'Oh Rao, oh Rao, oh Rao' thought a panicked Supergirl, flying on down toward her date, with a very worried look on her face, thinking she's already screwed up.
"I-I-I am so, so, so sorry that I arrived later than I should have" Kara floated down in her Supergirl attire, her cape resting behind her after landing. "I uh... Ran into some complications along the way *nervously chuckles*. You're not... Mad are you?" she asked with a little cute expression on her face, seemingly making Y/N softly smile.
"No, no... You're fifteen minutes late practically but... It's alright!" he approached and hugged her, a smile soon approaching on her face as she hugs back. "Whatever postponed your arrival, it's not screwed this up" he pulled back with a smile still.
"Well... Since that's the case, you ready?" she asked, a tone of excitement in her voice.
"Yep, we can go" he acknowledged, before Kara swooped him off his feet instantly and levitated off the ground.
"Gonna take us back to my apartment so I can change into an outfit for our date" the Kryptonian told him before he even asked.
"Well, I was gonna ask you that but, you read me like a book" he chuckled. "besides, I didn't just ask Supergirl to a date, I asked Kara Zor-El Danvers, who I see as both with or without the cape" he poked her nose, causing her to blush and giggle.
'Yeah, he is cute. Maybe our date could go well' she thought in her head, smiling at his friendly nature already.
"Well... Enjoy the date, love birds!" Satine shouted out and teased, watching Y/N be carried and flown away by his date.
The boy blushed a little upon hearing what Satine said. "Did she just call us... Love birds?" he blushed heavily now thinking about it, causing the Girl of Steel to giggle.
"Yeah, she defo called us that... I honestly see why" she flirted with a wink.
"We flirting already?" he smirked.
"If you want to" she smirked back.
"Well... I'd rather save the flirting for when we're at the restaurant for our date, maybe... A few during our uh... Walk through the park or whatever?" he told her, earning a bigger smirk from her.
"This your first date?" she asked curiously, she had a feeling it could be as he looked puzzled to say something for a brief moment.
"Y-Yeah... This is... My first ever date, never experienced this before... Sorry to disappoint" he felt awkward. "I just hope it doesn't go sideways"
"Don't worry! It's alright!" she sounded cheerful, eager to lighten up the situation he now found himself in. "You're in luck! I haven't exactly dated anyone in a while so it's kinda my first time in a way too! And no, it won't go sideways. Not even crime is gonna stop our date" she told him with a proud and classy smile.
They were now closing on in to New York, which was becoming visible from under the clouds, the lights showing off the city like a beacon in the dark.
"Well, you saying that does bring my hopes up. Sunshine" replied the boy her age, causing the girl to look surprised. Like she's never heard that before.
"Sunshine? Did you just call me Sunshine?" she began to blush with a cute smile on her face, the type of smile that could make someone not think straight once they see it toward them.
"Y-Yeah I did, your like a radiating sunshine, Kara. Not sure if anyone's said that before, but... From what I know, you bring caring and warmth everywhere you go. Just a cheerful sunshine on a summer day" he explained his reason, causing the Maid of Might to melt in his words.
"Aww, that's probably the most sweetest thing I've heard in a while now... That... That means a lot, you're so sweet" her face brightened with joy, the pair now flying above New York as she lowers herself into the city, just flying past the buildings now.
She flew around a building that looked to be a high-end apartment building, which seemed to look expensive. Y/N recognized the building itself since on his Earth? The building looked a lot more... Futuristic than modernized. Ritz-Carlton New York Hotel, now revealed that Kara indeed lives in there.
The Girl of Steel levitated herself lower until she saw her own opened window, flying through the opened window before gently landing and putting her date on his two feet once more.
"There we are! Welcome to my apartment room!" she performed a spin with a smile plastered on her face. She noticed the shock on his face, how could she have this much money? Having an apartment room like this? The view looked incredible. "Judging by the look on your face, you're pretty astonished" she giggled.
"I mean... Wow... When I thought apartment... I wasn't expecting this. You live at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel?! Especially this room? It's incredible!" he expressed his thoughts as his astonishment explored the room he was in. "On my Earth? This is like the oldest but cheapest Hotels to date, overshadowed by many other Hotels but... Wow, this is like... A dream, it's like going back to relive what it felt like being in this room" he explained.
"Well... I'm not exactly living in here forever though, I do plan to have a house built somewhere near New York, I do have a job as Kara Danvers here too so I can't exactly abandon that" she put her hands behind her back within her cape.
"What is this job of yours besides Supergirl?" he asked curiously.
"I work as a reporter at the Daily News, I'm a journalist. I used to work in National City at CatCo at the time but I quit that two years ago. I'm more happier working at the Daily News" she explained, she felt happy explaining more about herself, not as Supergirl, just as her alter ego.
"Interesting... Better save the stories for when we go out for dinner" he suggested, causing Kara to suddenly widen her eyes.
"Oh yeah! The dress! Hold on, be back in a Flash!" she giggled at herself afterwards before speeding off.
Y/N took the privilege to sit down on the sofa as he began to wait, his mind filled with many questions he wants to ask her. Though he knew he can't exactly ask her some questions in public regarding Krypton and other superhero related stuff. However, questions were on the board about Kara's human lifestyle.
Many thoughts began to overwhelm him, he felt nervous about it all, he's never done this before and he for sure, isn't great with relationships with girls. Hence why he's always avoided a romantic relationship.
At the same time? He likes Kara, he likes Kara for all she is, whether as Kara Danvers, the human who works as a journalist, or Supergirl aka Kara Zor-El, a superhero who is an alien refugee from the planet Krypton just like Superman.
In the other room, Kara is putting on her dress for the date, checking herself out on the mirror she had on display, smiling at herself before her thoughts overwhelmed her.
She was nervous also, never did she think she would begin to fall for someone who isn't even from this Earth, a human with powers beyond her imagination. ice, fire, solar, even smoke? Which smoke isn't even magic but still... He's able to use smoke as magic which confused her at first before accepting it was inevitable that it can be done.
She picked up her glasses, glasses that disguised her thoroughly, though it wasn't the same hair changing glasses she used to have. They broke under a certain altercation.
She puts them on as checks herself out again before exhaling a short breath, the feeling of butterflies in her stomach as she thinks about him... The same feeling from last night, where she screamed into her pillow with excitement, jumping up with joy. The same butterflies that'd make her feel happy around someone she likes a lot that it would make her float like one of those Disney princesses.
Y/N pondered how he was going to tell her that he likes her whenever it would come to that later, as he heard her coming back through. "You ready to see me?" she asked around the corner.
"Yeah, come on out" he answered, not expecting the sight he would see afterwards.
She was already beautiful as it is... But he's never seen someone this gorgeous in a dress... A blue dress with high heel sandals.
She parted her hair to the left side of her face as she stopped in front of him, showing off the dress from front... To back, showing off the elegant dress she decided to choose to wear.
"So..." she broke the silence. "You like it?" she asked with her hands behind her back, looking sheepish as she asks.
"I... Wow... You look like an angel" he softly spoke as the girl was flustered at his compliment.
"An angel?" she asked.
"Yeah... Like an angel who fell from the sky... Speaking of that since you came from another planet, so..." he referenced, making Kara blush heavily. "You're definitely an angel pretty much" he complimented again, causing the girl to give out a half-suppressed laugh.
"That's... That's so charming of you, I never thought myself as an angel" a cute smile was left on her face as she approached the now standing up boy. "You ready to go out for our date?" she asked politely.
"Yeah" he replied, taking her hand without thinking which caused the two to lightly blush and chuckle. "I think I'm ready to go out on our date"
* *
The couple were now at the restaurant, an Italian-American restaurant named Carne Mare, a place for good food surrounding Italian dishes and special dishes at best.
The couple found a seat and waited for someone to come over and take their order as they looked at the menu.
"Oh, they do Atlantic Halibut Steak? Pair that with potatoes? Especially roasted? Oh! it's good" he told his date who chuckled at his insight.
"Had it before I assume?" she asked as she lowered the menu she held in her hands.
"Yeah, Ma used to cook it, her own version at least, Ma told me it was my dad's favorite before he unexpectedly passed" he went on like it was nothing, Kara's eyes instantly widened at this new information she didn't hear before. She knew from the tone of voice he was still hurt over it.
"Your father passed away? I... I didn't know that" she didn't know what to say to this much, it was all of a sudden that he dropped the ball about his own personal life immediately. "I-I'm so sorry, I was going to ask you about your parents but..." she felt bad that she didn't know, feeling some guilt for him too.
"Hey, it's alright" he smiled as he lowered the menu he held. "It happened a while ago, and ma's doing okay, she's worried but... She knows I can handle myself out here" he made her smile with his words.
"Caring mothers are the best" she replied with a more happier tone.
"On that, I agree" he smiled brightly as she chuckled. "Got any family members you wanna talk about? Mine are uh... Well... It's complicated" he asked with an unsure face, knowing his family history is a long, long explanation.
"I should tell you about Eliza Danvers, my adopted mother, she's amazing. Along with Jeremiah, my adopted father" she spoke next.
"Oh? Wonder when I can get to meet these people" he wondered loudly, causing the girl to giggle.
"I'm sure you will at some point, I think they'll like you" she winked, as the waitress now arrived at their table.
"Good evening, I'm David, I'll be your server for tonight along with the rest of our guests" a man in a suit and bow-tie showed up with a small notepad to write on.
"Hello David!" Kara called out, waving toward the man as Y/N did the same.
"You two on a date may I ask?" the server politely asked.
"Yeah! Guessing it was pretty obvious?" Kara chuckled a reply, her date smiling along with her.
"It's not rare seeing a couple on a dinner date come here" the man replied. "So, drinks first. We've got Beer, Cocktails and Wine, we've also got Sparkling and Regular water if that's what you want?" he asked the couple.
"Oh, hmm... What do you think? Wine or Sparkling maybe?" Kara asked her date.
"I say we go sparkling water, not the biggest fan of Wine" Y/N replied as the server wrote it down.
"Alright, starters?" he asked next, Kara and Y/N looked at one another for a moment before agreeing on no starters. "Okay, main and side dish?" he then asked.
"Hmm... I'll go for a Mezzi Rigatoni, he'll go for... An Atlantic Halibut Steak" Kara informed the server as he began jotting down the order. "No side dish for me, not sure about this handsome guy here" she flirted with Y/N, making him chuckle with a blush rising up on his face.
"I'll take a side dish of uh... Potatoes Rustica?" he asked.
"Done, there is Dolci's which are desserts in other words, if you both want to order one after the main and side dishes, I'll come back to order for it afterwards along with your food and drinks soon!" David finished jotting down the couple's order before smiling.
"Thank you David!" Kara says as his smile shows his gratitude before walking off to take another order.
"Wow, this place is a lot more fancier than I thought" Kara told herself loudly.
"It is an Italian-American restaurant, it's gonna look fancy regardless" Y/N shrugged.
"It's quite nice, not that I'm complaining or anything. It's just... Not the first time I've been to a restaurant like this" she chuckled while thinking back to the last time she went on a date.
"Y'know? Now that you've mentioned it? Who did you last date before me? It sounds like it happened a few years ago" he asked her with a curious look on his face, wanting to know exactly who she dated before, that's when she laughed upon looking back at it.
"Yeah, it was a few years ago. I was 18 at the time, my date was actually the Boy Wonder Robin, Y'know? Batman's sidekick? Or former sidekick now at least" she answered his question, his eyes widened a little at the realization of who she dated before.
"Wait, he goes by the alias Nightwing now right?" he asked.
"Yep... I still remember the date as if it was yesterday" she chuckled. Fueling Y/N's curiosity further. At the same time, the server came round with two glasses of sparkling water, setting it down on the couple's table as they both thanked server David before he walked off once again.
"Care to elaborate on what really happened that day?" he asked politely, even leaning in as he showed to her how interested he wanted to hear this story.
"Haha, well..." she rolled her eyes playfully with a smile...
"Gotta say... I thought he'd be interesting to have a chat with" Y/N spoke as he began cutting his Atlantic steak, put together with the potatoes he ordered.
"Don't get me wrong, we're on better terms now than before, even after that uh... Date" she spoke with gestured air quotations at the end of her sentence.
"Well... I know how it feels to be stared at, looked at with glances and so fourth while in a public place doing normal things while in costume? Yeah... I know how it feels" he spoke like he's had experience, before putting the fork in his mouth that had stabbed the steak and a potato earlier.
"Wait, you go out in public, doing normal human things while in costume? Don't you have a alter ego?" Kara asked curiously as she stabbed a bit of the pasta on her plate.
"Eh, yeah. About that, everyone knows who the EDC are, we don't use secret identities. And btw, you should see the aliens we have on our Earth. They're pretty much... Robots in Disguise" he gloated, making Kara almost spit out the pasta she had been eating in her mouth.
"What?! Are you saying that... Transformers exist on your Earth?!!" Kara almost shouted in shock.
"Shh!" Y/N shushed the Kryptonian Journalist. "Don't wanna blow our identities by shouting that!"
"Oh, sorry" Kara giggled. "I'm just... Surprised that they exist on your Earth, must be weird knowing they're fiction here" she then whispered.
"Yeah... It's pretty weird how they're just fiction here but not on my Earth" Y/N spoke from his perspective.
"Just asking... Does Optimus Prime exist? Or is he alive?" she asked, a glint of interest in her eye as she began eating again.
"Yep... He's real and alive. Megatron is too, well they're not enemies anymore. It's pretty much a joint op" he whispered back, making sure no one thought he was crazy or anything if they heard him. Meanwhile Kara was just too into it, wanting to know more now that more information was shared about his Earth.
'Megatron's a good guy now?' Kara thought along with being surprised, she's always seen him as the villain of the screens of TV shows, movies and so fourth.
"I'll explain more about it later. Right now? I want to hear more about your story" he was still interested in Kara's story, a glint now glistening in his eye as he continues eating.
"Oh, right... Now where was I?" Kara wondered loudly.
"You were at the part where you asked the waiter about your food" he told her.
"Oh right!" Kara remembered. "So..."
"Wait, wait pause"
*Record scratch*
"You're telling me... Some guy's pet monkey caused a truck, carrying bowling balls to crash into a concrete wall, bowling balls began spilling out, causing a bus to crash into a fountain filled with water along with causing an entire crash scene? And a monkey caused all that? The fuck?" he was all but baffled at this. It was too good of a story to be made up.
"I'm telling you! This is NOT made up! I'm 100% serious as I swear to Rao on this. This did happen" Kara really did want to believe this wasn't made up but... It wasn't. "Can I continue, please?"
"Sure, I'm already loving this story of yours already!"
"Ohh, talk about a bad date... That was a disaster for sure" he complimented.
"I know... Getting morally embarrassed by falling into a broken water fountain, having your suit soaked up and hair messy, only to come back and see that the food was cold... Yeah... Pretty disastrous if you ask me" Kara replied, finishing her meal as Y/N finished his.
"And I gotta say? That was a good story, along with that steak cause wow... Haven't had that in a long time" he licked his lips and sighed happily afterwards.
"Yeah, should've tried that pasta, it was pretty good" she giggled before mirroring what he did by licking her lips afterwards and sighing just like he did.
The two looked at each other before bursting out in soft laughter.
"Y'know? I saw the desserts here and... I really, REALLY want to try that 17 layer choco cake they have" he thought about it loudly.
"Oh desserts? Sure we can have a dessert, one caught my eye" she smirked before licking her lips.
She didn't realize she was staring at him when she said that which caused him to look surprised.
"Woah! Wow Angel, didn't think you'd mean it like that if that's what you meant" he then smirked, teasing her.
"W-What? Oh no no no, I wasn't m-meaning it l-l-like that" her face flushed red, realizing what she did as she giggled nervously.
"I know what you meant, just teasing ya" he winked, her blood flushed cheeks began dimming down as the server David came round.
"Hello you two, ready to pay the bill for the meals or are you both having a dessert?" David asked politely.
"Oh yeah! Uhh... I'll have a Sweet Cream Panna Cotta" Kara answered with a smile.
"What about you sir?" David asked Kara's date.
"17 Layer Chocolate Cake will do for me" Y/N politely answered back.
"Okay, it'll be out shortly once I've given the order to them. Hope you enjoy your desserts, someone will come round to hand the bill to you to pay" David informed the couple.
"Thank you David" It was Y/N turn to share his gratitude as the server smiled before walking off.
"Y'know, now that I think back to my story... I think that monkey's name was Bingo" Kara shared some new info about the story she recently told her date.
"Bingo? Huh? Cute name for a monkey" he complimented. "Like yours"
"Aww Sparks, I'm flustered" Kara's face glistened.
"Sparks? That my nickname?" he asked with a smile on his face.
"Might as well be!" she giggled.
Before long, their desserts would soon arrive at their table, with each individual cutlery.
Kara seemed to be enjoying her Panna Cotta as Y/N was enjoying his cake.
"Mmm, this cake is really good. Wow" Y/N gloated at the cake's taste, since it tasted like heaven.
"I'd say the same to this!" Kara put the spoon in her mouth as she tasted the sweet taste on the Cotta, hummed to say it was good... Too good.
"I got an idea" he said. Gaining the Kryptonians attention.
"Hmm?" She hummed, still eating what was in her mouth.
"How about we get a taste of each other's desserts? You taste mine, I taste yours? I know it's like a classic romantic dating thing, wanna try it?" he suggested as Kara thought about it.
"Hmm... Sure!" she went along, getting some Panna Cotta on her spoon with the cream and berries as her date does the same with his cake, only difference was that he had a fork.
Their mouths opened upon them feeding each other their own dessert on their respective cutlery before pulling it back as they began eating.
"Mmm... Oh waow" he spoke with a mouthful, the sweet cream, the berries, it was a perfect taste to his own taste buds. "Wow, that is definitely the taste of heaven" he complimented, enjoying the sweet taste... He always had a sweet tooth.
"Gotta say? The cake is amazing! Kinda wish I could steal the recipe... But that'd be criminal" she chuckled, enjoying the chocolate sensation from the cake, unlike any other cake she's had before, specially chocolate. "If they had ice cream? That would be great with that cake"
"Oh yeah! Definitely" he agreed. The couple giggling afterwards as they continued eating... But kept their eyes locked onto each other, smiles offered as they enjoyed their dessert together,
* *
"And then, he turned to me and said, we should prank her, she's always gotten me with her pranks" Y/N was telling Kara a story of his.
They had been walking through Central Park after their dinner date for at least 10 to 20 minutes now telling each other their stories and such, spending the rest of their date taking a walk through Central Park... Where couples usually did go to on their first date or two.
Earlier Kara informed him about the mask she accidentally destroyed upon their first encounter, she had successfully fixed it with Kryptonian metal and fabrics, using the Fortress's technology to repair it, which made Y/N ecstatic.
"Well, did you and Xalex prank her?" Kara was intrigued to know the rest, the both had been holding hands like before. Smiling like idiots.
"Yeah... Well... Before Xalex could do his master plan of pranking on Satine with using the old paint buckets that still had some pain left on em... He uh" he continued before trying his best not to laugh. "He dropped them on Liang instead, thinking it was Satine who was walking by" he burst out laughing, it was his first day at the EDC after Liang brought him in.
"Oh Rao" Kara laughed with her date. "I'm guessing he wasn't very happy about having paint splattered on him" she continued laughing with him.
"Oh yeah, he wasn't very happy at all, got caught and all, he didn't scold me but he scolded Xalex, the commotion gained the attention of everyone present, including some of the Autobots and Decepticons who were there. Bee asks me what happened, so I told him everything. It all reminds him of the Terrens who he taught a few years back" Y/N continued explaining the rest of the story.
The couple walked past a part of grass that had no trees blocking the view, which gave Kara an idea.
"Wanna stargaze? I can tell you more about Krypton and myself of course" she asked with a wink at the end.
"Yeah! Sure why not?" he reluctantly agreed, as they walked toward the same part of grass Kara spotted. "Wait... We don't have something to lie down on top of the grass" Y/N then spoke.
"Don't worry" Kara winked before speeding off and coming back in full costume and taking off her cape that billows behind her. "I have a solution to that" she giggled afterwards before setting down the cape.
"You sure you want to do this in costume? What if people walk by and see Supergirl sitting down with some random guy staring at the sky?" Y/N asked the question.
"Don't worry Sparks!" she took his hand. "No one really comes along this part of Central Park at night, they always say it's dangerous but really? It's not" she winked.
They sat down before lying down, their hands intertwined again as a smile was on their faces.
"Sky's beautiful tonight" Y/N said with a glistening in his eyes, the many stars that shined in the night sky, let alone the Moon that was visible through the clouds.
"Yeah, they're always beautiful at night here, from what I've seen" Kara agreed, a smile growing bigger on her face.
"So... I gotta ask... What was living on Krypton like? Before coming here and having those powers?" Y/N asked the question, she already knew he was going to ask it after all.
"Well... Krypton was... It was beautiful, the cities were filled with laughter and joy, there were many houses, I know you call them clans here on Earth so to speak" she answered.
"Speaking about clans, my ancestors are from an old clan that existed years and years ago" her answer reminded him of his heritage and where he came from, let alone, making him talk about it.
"Wait, really? Which one?" Kara asked.
"The Nobushi Clan, one that had the greatest warriors who were the first line of defence centuries ago" he answered her question. "Enough about me for now, I wanna know about your culture and stuff, I'm interested in it after all" he suggested to change the topic about her.
"Oh yeah, of course!" she immediately snuffed out the distractions. "The Houses we had were a family sigil, each had it's own emblem and what they stood for. Mine is the House of El as you already know, most of the House of El were apart of the Science Guild, where my biological father Zor-El and his brother Jor-El worked in" Kara spoke as her eyes laid upon a star that shined brighter than the others.
"Were you part of the Science Guild too?" Y/N asked curiously.
"Originally was planning to, yeah. My mother however was part of the Military Guild. Her house of the House of Ze, her name was Alura In-Ze. She was married to my father Zor-El... And then, they had me" Kara felt happy talking to someone about her culture's history, never did she think someone, a Human even, was interested in knowing about Krypton's history.
"What about the other houses?" Y/N asked.
"Well there's the House of Zod, home to ruthless warriors and defenders of Krypton, well... They were once... Before General Dru-Zod came along and led a coup against the council of Krypton. They want to make Earth the New Krypton but have failed many attempts since we got involved" Kara explained further.
"And where are they now?"
"Phantom Zone" Kara replied with a smug look on her face. "Hope they rot in there for all I care" a distaste in her mouth when she spoke about them.
"You really hate them, don't you?" Y/N raised an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, hate em with a passion, they Zod tried to manipulate my mother, she saw through his manipulation and in return tried to kill her. It failed" she answered, remembering that moment when she was eleven years old.
"Any other houses?" he asked, still wondering if there was many more since the only house he'd known was the House of El mostly.
"There's like many more, House of Ak, An, Am, Da, Dar... Do you want me to go through em all?" she asked politely, chuckling at the thought of going through all of them.
"Actually... Why not tell me them all later?" he suggested.
"That's fine with me" she smiled, as a star shoots through the sky.
"Look at that, a shooting star" he pointed out.
"Yeah! It's amazing!" her eyes glistened upon it, she's flown close to a shooting star before, and it's beautiful up close from her words.
"You had a God right? Rao it was called?" Y/N asked Kara next, gaining her interest.
"Yeah, we all... I wouldn't say worship but we all were religious. Rao was the sun God of Krypton, he had two children, Nightwing and Flamebird" she explained the history behind her God.
"Nightwing? Wait... Did Dick Grayson copy that?" he wondered loudly.
"Hahaha, that's what I thought at first, like I thought he took the name as inspiration, but he actually had no idea about it" Kara laughed.
Y/N laughed along with her, smiling as he tilted his head to look at her.
Kara noticed he was looking at her, and so... She looked at him, the two felt some connection once their eyes met. The calm wind blowing in the air as their eyes glistened at each other.
"When you... Wear that symbol" his free hand slightly touched the symbol on Kara's suit, she felt his hand touch her and let his touch feel the suit she wore. His eyes looking upon it before meeting her eyes once more. "Do you... Ever feel... Like the weight of the world is on your shoulders?" Y/N asked a very good question which surprised her at the slightest.
She always felt so alone in the universe after Krypton's destruction, finally arriving to Earth, only to find that her baby cousin was a grown up adult now.
She used to feel so angry at the world, at herself... At everything, she was hot-headed, a girl with anger issues, someone who couldn't accept Earth as their new home. She became a Red Lantern at the time because of her rage.
She told him all of this earlier, even so she'd get emotional about it all, but she's learned to talk about it without breaking down in tears or getting all emotional... Kandor did survive, but the same could not be said for Argo City, not her parents.
"Sometimes... It can be too much for me to handle, and to be honest? I... I don't know if I'm ready to be Earth's Champion if my cousin were to be gone somewhere... Or worse... Dead" Kara spoke with a saddened tone. "But I need to be strong for Earth, for my new family, without them? I don't even know where I'd be right now. Probably still angry at the world? I don't know? I've learned so much about Earth and... I once said that Humans were just... Beyond saving, that they waste their lives on nothing and such. And I still regret saying that" she out heartedly admitted.
She hated who she was after Krypton's destruction, just a girl who was angry at the world, wouldn't hesitate to fight or worse, kill anyone in her way, even her own cousin.
"But... Kal thinks I bring joy and happiness to those around me, that I've grown to be my own person, who carries hope like he does as Superman. And to be honest? He's not wrong" she smiled brightly, looking at her date while butterflies dance in her stomach.
"I agree... He's not wrong. Your smile is like a sunshine, and... You're an angel from the sky. You're beautiful Kara... One of the most beautiful girls I've met. I'm not great with girls, never tried getting into a relationship. But this? I... I really want you to be my first and only" he spoke before admitting his feelings. He felt like a weight was took off of him, his heart pounding in his chest as she picked up on it.
Her smile brightened further along with her face, she never felt this loving feeling in a while. "I want to try again, try a relationship again. Maybe... You're the one I really needed to find" she grinned.
The two began giggling and chuckling, a blush rising up their cheeks as the moment passes, smiles were offered, as they felt the romantic tension rising.
"I guess the House of El doesn't just mean... Hope, and all that. I guess it could mean... Love and Compassion too" Kara thought loudly, finding a new understanding go the symbol she's always worn since birth.
"I like the sound of that. Hope, Love and Compassion for all" he gloated, causing the girl to snicker.
"Sounds corny... I love it" she smiled.
"Me too" he smiled back.
The two then sat up before they began slowly closing the gap, their lips almost touched before Kara made the move, her hand touched his face as his reached the back of her head, gently caressing her golden hair.
The pair realized what was happening, they were having their first ever kiss, well... Kara's had a few kisses on the lips before, but for Y/N? It's his first time.
The pair melted into the kiss, Kara's other hand caressed face as she felt his other hand on her thigh.
She moaned softly as their kiss continued, their lips slowly dancing before Y/N pulled back for air slowly, setting up the mood of the situation.
"Wow... That... That's my first ever kiss, I've never kissed anyone on the lips before" Y/N admitted to a now giggling Kara Zor-El.
"For your first kiss? That was good" she complimented, making the boy blush a thank you. "Care to go again?" she asked.
"Gladly" he smiled, their lips touching again for a brief moment, her kiss was like the ocean breeze, he smiled into the kiss as it continued for a few moments before the two pulled back. "Kara... I uh... I spoke with Liang... About staying here" he then spoke afterwards, which Kara frowned at.
"Really? What did he say?" Kara was intrigued.
"So... I asked him and he... He had a feeling I would feel attached to this world, he knows what's happening right now and he understands why I want to stay on this Earth. He knows I have... Feelings toward you, though we just met a few days ago. Fair to say? I don't regret it" he smiled.
"You're staying here? Are you really sure you want to?" Kara asked with concern, knowing he might miss his home, despite there being talks about an agreement of an ally to call upon such if a situation requires the EDC's help. "Won't you miss your home?"
"Yes..." YN answered briefly before his eyes drifted back to Kara's baby blues yet again, "But I want to spend my life here, and meeting you has made me think that way... In other words... I want most of my days here, even with you. So... Liang thought it'd be a good idea for me to stay here, of course he still has to talk to the others about it first but... Honestly? I'm more than happy to stay here on this Earth, even if it's with you" a smile was still on his face before inevitably, Supergirl would start to smile. Never thinking he'd be allowed to stay.
"Oh Y/N, you-you didn't have to. But... That makes me happy, knowing you want to stay" Kara's smile brightened
The Multitasker smiled as he pulled himself in... Before they were interrupted by music happening in the distance, with people singing along the song.
A song named... Better Place by Rachel Platten, being performed by a woman with a beautiful voice, similar to the original singer... Maybe it is her? Happening at some musical stadium within Central Park.
youtube
"There's some music going on. You hear that?" Kara asked.
"Yeah, I recognize the song" he smiled with an answer.
The song continued as they listened in, before Kara began swaying left to right slowly, the lyrics of the song catching up to her as she quietly sang along.
"Well" Kara began getting up before looking down at Y/N and offering a hand. "Care to dance?"
"Me? Dancing? I'm bad at it as it is" he chuckled.
"Just a slow dance, just keep your eyes on me and mirror my movements" she offered, a smile on her face as he took her hand, pulling himself up.
"Sure... Something for us to remember" he smiled as he stepped off Kara's cape before she picked it up and attaching it back on her suit behind herself, the cape draped perfectly over her shoulders.
The couple smiled as their bodies touched, holding hands together as they began to slowly dance to the song going on in the distance.
Their eyes locked onto each other as the pair slowly danced.
During this... The couple hadn't noticed someone watching them in the distance with a pair of binoculars, sitting on top of a building as he watched Kara dance with her date.
The man smiled as he watched and chuckled. "Atta girl, knew you'd find someone eventually" Nightwing spoke as he put away the binoculars before continuing his patrol, taking over for Supergirl tonight.
"There you go! You're getting the hang of it!" Kara spoke excitedly as he made her do a spin before catching her.
"Seems like I am" he chuckled before Kara turned round, looking at Y/N in the eyes.
"Wanna stay at mine tonight? I have room for one more on my bed" she smiled, her eyes glittering like the calm ocean.
"Wouldn't mind that, waking up beside you would be a dream" he teased, causing her and himself to giggle before continuing their dance.
Their dance would soon stop before their faces drew closer and softly touched at the song coming to a close, their eyes closing as Kara begins to float up in the air with her arms wrapped around Y/N. Her cape and hair blew softly in the wind as he felt her flying up into the sky.
Where their kiss would continue up in the skies of New York City.
Knowing he had truly Scored Supergirl's Heart of Steel...

✐ Seven Years | Kara Danvers ✎
Pairing: Kara Danvers x reader
Warnings: slight angst
Summary: Seven years is a long time, but you’ve never given up on Kara.
________________________________________________
Seven Years Ago
A knock on my door makes me shoot up in bed. After crash landing on earth with Mon El I’m still getting used to my super hearing.
I rub my eyes and check my phone for the time, frowning when I see it’s two in the morning. I get out of bed and use my x-ray vision to see who’s at the door.
Much to my surprise I realize it’s Kara and the way she holds herself is very unusual. She’s leaned against the doorframe, her hair a mess and her glasses are askew on the bridge of her nose.
“Hey, what are you doing here this late?” I ask when I open the door.
Kara’s head shoots up and her hazy, glassy eyes meet mine. She sways when she pushes herself off the doorframe and when she slurs a, “Heyyy,” I smell alien liquor on her breath.
I sigh and step aside, letting her in wordlessly. This isn’t the first time she’s shown up drunk at my doorstep and I’m pretty sure tonight it’s for the exact same reason as last time.
“What did he do this time?” I say, exasperated as Kara flops down on my couch face first.
Mon El. . .
I love my twin brother, don’t get me wrong, but he can be such a jackass sometimes.
Since he started going out with Kara, he has changed for the better, but sometimes he slips up and that’s when I get involved because not long after waking up here on Earth, Kara’s took an instant liking to me.
Unlike my brother I didn’t break out of the DEO, I didn’t send out a distress call that got me arrested, and I’ve never believed our people’s claims that the Kryptonians were responsible for all our hardships, which meant Kara and I became friends rather quickly.
And as her friend I’m one of the only people she can talk to about Mon El because I know him better than anyone and I’m more often than not the one who talks some sense into him whenever he messes up.
Now, I could say I don’t mind because that’s what friends are for, but I do because I hate how I was too shy to ask her out and when I mentioned it to him, he swooped in and asked her out himself.
It’s like he doesn’t even care about her and only did it to one-up me once again, the same way he’s been doing all his life.
Kara groans and I take a seat beside her head, taking off her glasses so she doesn’t accidentally break them. “He just doesn’t listen!”
Yeah, I’ve heard that one before.
I sigh and scratch at my eyebrow. “Why? What happened?”
I don’t want to know. It makes me furious, seeing how he treats her, but I want to be a good friend, so I’m offering her a shoulder to cry on.
Kara takes a deep breath before sitting up. She looks like a bug wiggling its legs in the air while doing so, but she manages to do it and sinks back into the cushions, her head landing on my shoulder.
It’s a familiar position and even though I know it’s friendly on her part, I can’t help the butterflies that erupt in my stomach every time she’s this close.
She smells like floral perfume and liquor, the latter being a little overwhelming for my sensitive nose, but I couldn’t care less. All that matteres right now is that she’s comfortable and safe.
God, what would the world do if they saw Supergirl in this state? Wasted over a fight with her boyfriend. . .
I shake my head and force myself not to think like that. Kara isn’t just Supergirl; perfect, charming and selfless. She’s also Kara and she, like everyone else, isn’t perfect.
“We were dealing with some bank robbers earlier,” she starts, still slurring her words but sounding more sober than before, “and I told him— I TOLD him— I had it under control, but he swooped in anyway.”
Yup, that sounds like him.
I have the same powers he has, but I don’t want to be a superhero. I just want to live a normal life, just like I’ve always wanted, even back on Daxam, and because I now have the freedom to choose, I choose to work as a manager and barista at Noonan’s. I like connecting with people and the simplicity of the job, which makes it perfect.
From time to time I do help the DEO of course, but only if I really have to. Otherwise I stick to my new, boring life.
I hum in acknowledgment and wait for Kara to continue.
“They got away with the money,” she says, “and I got a slab of concrete hurled at me. . . And then he has the audacity to accuse me of letting them get away, as if I didn’t have to use my body to shield them and prevent him from accidentally killing them with that piece of concrete!”
“I— Wow.” Is all I can manage to say and when I look to my left I’m startled to find Kara looking up at me with big, puppy dog eyes.
“Why can’t he just listen?” she whispers, her eyes darting between mine. “I mean, you listen. You always listen. Why can’t he?”
I swallow thickly and look at my hands in my lap. Mon El and I might be twins, but that’s where the similarities end.
I feel myself getting hot under Kara’s intense stare, so clear my throat and mumble, “I don’t know, Kara. But I’m sorry he’s acting like this.”
I would never do something like that to you.
I don’t say that because we’re just friends and because I’m not going to be the one who ruins their relationship.
Kara sighs and rests her head back on my shoulder, closing her eyes. She wraps her arms around my arm and within seconds her breathing evens out and I know she’s asleep.
Damn you, Mon El . . .
I shift around until I can get out of her embrace, carefully directing her so she’s lying on the couch. I take off her shoes and drape a thin blanket over her, knowing full well that she won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Now
I cough and blink my eyes open. Everything is white and blurry, so I rub my eyes with my hands.
A familiar face swims in front of me and when I blink a couple of times, it comes into focus.
“Brainy?” I ask, coughing once more. “Are we back in the 31st century?”
He shakes his head and runs a hand through his hair. “No. There have been some. . . complications.”
My eyebrows shoot up and I step out of the cryo-pod. My clothes are sticking to my body and I gladly accept the stack of dry clothes Brainy holds out. “What kind of complications? Where’s Mon El? Is he still asleep?”
Brainy’s eye twitches in a telltale way and he turns around when I start taking off my shirt. “No, he is awake. He is out looking for a power source for the ship.”
I narrow my eyes at the back of his head and finish changing, running a hand through my damp hair. “Where exactly is he? I know there something you’re not telling me, Brainy.”
He peaks over his shoulder to make sure I’m decent before turning back around. “There is nothing I’m not telling you, Y/N.“
I scoff and brush past him to the ships main computer to see what’s going on. Before I can get my hands on the control panel though, he slips in front of me, blocking my view.
“What are you doing?” he asks.
I raise an eyebrow. “What am I doing? What are you doing? Move, please.”
He shakes his head and grimaces. “I can’t do that.”
Frustration bubbles in the pit of my stomach and I clench my jaw so as to not snap at him. “Why not? What is going on?!”
Brainy opens and closes his mouth like a fish out of water, but nothing comes out.
“Brainy, I swear—“
“Y/N.”
I spin around at the familiar voice and glare at my brother who’s dressed in his red Legion suit.
“Mon El.” I acknowledged him with a nod and send Brainy one last glare before asking, “What’s going on? Where are we? Or should I say when are we?”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ve got what we need and we should be back home in no time,” he replies and when my eyes drop to his hands I realize he’s holding a power cell.
Why is no one telling me what is going on?
My frustration turns into anger when Mon El tries to move past me without elaborating, so I grab his arm and yank him back.
“Either you tell me what’s going on right now, or I’m leaving the ship to find out myself!” I seethe through gritted teeth and it fills me with satisfaction to see him flinch ever so slightly.
He quickly reassumes his unfazed demeanor though and calmly replies, “Look, you weren’t supposed to wake up before I got back. We’re not home yet, which is all that matters, but I have what we need to get back, so don’t worry.”
I’m about to lunge at him when Imra boards the ship, also dressed in her Legion suit.
So they were out together. . .
“Mon El, Kara told me—“
She freezes when her eyes land on me and when it registers what she just said my heart drops. I let go of Mon El’s arm and turn to face her with shaking hands. “What did you just say?”
It’s almost a whisper but because it’s dead silent right now, Imra hears me.
“Y/N. You’re awake,” she says carefully, her eyes darting between me and Mon El.
“Yeah, no shit.” I take big step forward so I’m face to face with her, pointing at her chest. “Now tell me. What were you going to say?“
She swallows thickly, looking like a deer caught in headlights and when I don’t back down, her eyes drop to the floor and she mumbles, “Kara wanted me to tell Mon El that Winn managed to locate another power cell, should we need one that is. . .”
My jaw drops and my heart races in my chest. I spin around and stare at Mon El in disbelief.
“Kara?” I croak. “Kara?!“
Mon El sets down the power cell and hols out his hands to calm me down, but I’m way past the point of being calmed down now. “Y/N, please don’t make a big deal out of this. I—“
“No, you don’t get to talk to me like that!” I cried, feeling tears well up in my eyes. “How dare you not tell me we were back?”
His face is contorted into a conflicted grimace, and he tries to come up with an excuse, but I’m not having it.
“You weren’t going to wake me up, were you? You weren’t ever going to tell me about this, were you?” My voice breaks more and more as I continue speaking until I’m a crying mess.
“Y/N. . .” Imra places a hand on my shoulder, but I shrug her off, taking several steps back to glare at all three of my supposed friends.
“No, just stop,” I choke out, wiping at my tears. “I’ve waited, hoped, seven years for this moment, and you weren’t going to say anything.“
I stare at each of them for an explanation, or a reason as to why they weren’t going to tell me, but no one says anything, so I square my shoulders and use my sleeve to tame the never ending stream of tears.
“Wow. So much for family,” I scoff and make my way to the ship’s door. No one dares to stop me and as soon as I step outside, there’s only one thing left on my mind: Finding Kara.
Seven Years Ago
“Here you go.” I smile and hand Maya, one of our regulars, her coffee over the counter. She reciprocates the smile and thanks me before leaving.
I grab the next ticket and look it over, seeing that I only have to make a cappuccino and a hot chocolate.
I get to work, moving flawlessly around the space next to my coworker Conan, only to be pulled to the side when I go out back to grab a new crate of coffee beans.
“Kara, what the hell?” I shriek when I see the blonde grinning at me. She’s wearing her Supergirl suit and her blonde hair looks windswept.
“Hi!”
I push my glasses up the bridge of my nose and set down the coffee beans. “You can’t just sneak up on someone like that. One of these days I’m going to have a heart attack because of you,” I say, my lips twitching when she scratches her neck in embarrassment.
“You’re right I’m sorry,” she says, her smile not faltering, “even though I don’t think you could even have a heart attack if you tried.”
I roll my eyes playfully and pull her into a hug. She laughs and hugs back, and I’m pretty sure if I were human she would have broken my neck by now.
“Don’t get smart with me,” I warn with a chuckle when we pull back and she just smiles, tucking a stand of hair behind her ear. “So, what brings you by? Not my idiot brother again, I hope.”
Kara grimaces and shifts awkwardly. “Actually that’s exactly why I came by.”
I deflate and force myself to ignore the hurt that always claws at my heart when she talks about her relationship with Mon El. “Oh, alright then. What happened?”
For the first time ever, she seems to pick up on my change in mood pertaining this particular topic and she frowns. However, when I raise an eyebrow expectantly she clears her throat and a tentative smile tugs at the corner of her lips. “Well, I. . . I broke up with him.”
My eyes widen and I can’t stop a confused, “Why?” from slipping past my lips.
It was probably not the reaction she was expecting because she falters and starts nervously tugging at her skirt. “I-I just realized we don’t working together and he is just so different and— I thought you’d be happy for me.”
Seeing her pout I’m quick to grab her hands and make her look at me. “No, no, no. I am happy for you. I just— I thought maybe he broke your heart and you were sad about it and— I’m sorry. I’m glad you’re okay, and I’m glad you’re happy. That’s all that matters.”
Uncertainty flits across her face and her blue eyes search my face when she asks, “Really?”
I nod and squeeze her hands with a soft smile. “Really.”
Kara beams the next second and throws her arms around my neck. “You’re the best friend ever. How about we go out and celebrate tonight? I’ll ask Alex, Lena, and Sam to come, too.”
My heart breaks a little at the word friend, but I don’t let it show when I agree. “Sure. Just text me when and where and I’ll be there.”
“Yay!” Kara giggles and pulls back, her face lit up with happiness.
I smile fondly at the sight, feeling my heart flutter before scolding myself.
Stop, she’s your friend. Nothing else.
I sigh and gesture behind me. “I should get back to work.”
“Of course!” Kara’s eyes widen in realization, but she doesn’t lose her smile.
I return a half-hearted smile and get back to work, hearing the whooshing of her taking off just as the door closes behind me.
Since she broke up with Mon El three months ago, Kara has been around even more than before.
She shows up at Noonan’s daily just to chat which has gotten her in trouble with Snapper more often than not, and she spends most nights on my couch, passed out from her Supergirl duties.
Tonight was game night at her place and everyone except me has already left, leaving behind empty beer bottles and candy wrappers.
It was fun and filled with friendly competition, leaving a lingering warm feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I pick up the empty wine glass Lena drank out of and take it to the kitchen along with some empty beer bottles.
“I told you, you don’t have to do that,” Kara says, joining me in the kitchen with the empty popcorn bowl.
I shrug her off and take the bowl from her, placing it in the dishwasher before wiping my hands on my pants. “And I told you, I don’t mind.”
Kara’s blue eyes soften and she crosses her arms, her hands disappearing in the sleeves of her (my) sweatshirt. She borrowed it one night after showing up at my apartment covered in soot and ash, and she hasn’t returned it since.
The longer she watches me, the more nervous I get and I push my glasses up the bridge of my nose. “So, uh— How’s life?” I ask awkwardly which makes Kara chuckle.
She tilts her head adorably and smiles. “I can’t complain. How about you? How’s Maya?”
I cringe inwardly at the mention of Maya and shake my head with a soft laugh. We went on one date a couple of weeks ago because she asked me out, but I’m too hung up on the blonde in front of me, so I let Maya down gently.
Weirdly enough, Kara hasn’t stopped pestering me about it even though I keep telling her that there’s nothing going on between Maya and I.
“She’s fine I think. I told you I haven’t spoken to her since our date,” I say, drawing shapes on the counter next to me.
Kara raises an eyebrow and her eyes hold something I can’t quite place. “Well, is there someone else then?”
It’s a little weird how interested she is in my love life lately, but I try not to read too much into it.
“No,” I say quietly and Kara uncrosses her arms with a satisfied smile.
“Good. I don’t like sharing my best friend,” she says, placing a hand on my chest.
I swallow thickly and bite the inside of my cheek. “Yup.”
Kara squeezes my shoulder and moves past me, getting comfortable on the couch and looking at me expectantly when I don’t follow.
We usually watch a movie together after everyone’s already gone, but I don’t feel like staying tonight because it just hit me that she’ll never see me as anything other than a friend.
After she broke up with Mon El I thought I might get my chance with her after all, but now I know that that won’t be the case and all I want to do is go home and wallow in self pity.
“Actually, I think I’m going to head home, too,” I mumble, looking down as I drag myself to the door to put on my shoes and jacket.
Kara jumps off the couch and hurries toward me. “What? Why?”
I sigh and glance at her, seeing the confusion and hurt on her face.
“I’m pretty tired and I have an early shift tomorrow morning,” I say, pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose again.
“O-Okay,” Kara stutters and I only hug her briefly before leaving, ignoring the way her eyes burn into the back of my head as I step into the elevator.
Now
I fly over National City, admiring the twinkling lights in the dark of the night as I make my way to a familiar apartment.
It’s cold and a few snowflakes land and melt on my face as I continue flying, but I ignore them and close my eyes briefly, taking a deep breath of fresh air.
The last time I was here, my lung felt like it was on fire but since being cured of my lead allergy in the 31st century, that is no longer an issue.
I descend slowly when I get close to my destination, feeling nervousness rise up in the pit of my stomach.
What if she doesn’t want to see me? What if she moved on? I mean, it’s been seven years. . .
Seven Years Ago
“What are we going to do?” Kara asks desperately, pacing back and forth.
We’re at the DEO, trying to figure out what to do about my mother’s attempt at invading the planet.
Alex looks to be deep in thought and Winn and Lena are talking in hushed voices a few steps away.
“Well, we could always use the device Lillian—“
Alex gets cut off immediately by Kara starting her down. “Absolutely not. We have to think of something else.”
I frown and glance at Clark who’s silently watching the whole scene unfold next to a defeated looking Mon El.
“What device?” I ask and when Alex and Kara go on bickering I ask again, this time louder and a little more aggressive. “What device?!”
No one says anything for a second but then Winn clears his throat and steps forward. “Lena and Lilian came up with a fail safe device that releases trace amounts of lead into the atmosphere when activated.”
I regret asking and immediately know why Kara doesn’t want to use it. It wouldn’t only force my mother and all the other Daxamites to leave, but also Mon El and me.
“I’m going to fight Rhea, and I’m going to win. There’s no other option. We’re not going to use that thing.” Kara states with a huff and it seems as though a decision has been made, but before anyone can leave I step forward with squared shoulders.
“No, you are not fighting our poor excuse of a mother,” I say calmly. “We are using the device. No one else has to get hurt and if it means Mon El and I have to leave as well, then so be it. Right?”
I look at Mon El and despite not seeing eye to eye on most things, he agrees with me and nods solemnly.
Kara whips around and glares at me. “We can’t just—“
“Yes you can,” I interrupt, turning to Alex before Kara can say anything else. “Get the device ready. Mon El and I will get our affairs in order and return to the DEO as soon as possible. You said Kara’s spaceship is still in working order, right? We’ll use it to get off Earth as soon as the lead is released.”
Alex pulls me in for a hug and lets out a shuddering breath but agrees to the plan and orders Winn and Lena to finish making the distributor.
Clark regards me with reverence and bows slightly, leaving shortly after to help in the ongoing fight against the invasion.
Mon El leaves too, shaking Alex’s hand and hugging Kara briefly, leaving me behind with the two sisters.
“I can’t believe you just did that!” Kara seethes, jabbing me in the chest with her finger. “I can fight Rhea. I can win!”
“No!” I argue, shoving her hand away and taking a step back. “You can’t win. My mother fights dirty and you will lose and I won’t let that happen. Not when there’s something I can do about it.”
Alex watched us with an uncomfortable look on her face before deciding she’s seen enough. She wordlessly slips out of the room and makes sure the door is properly shut behind her.
“Well, I’m not going to let you jet off into space with nowhere to go. You will die out there!” Kara spits through gritted teeth, the vein on her forehead pulsing dangerously.
“You don’t know that! But I know that you will get hurt if you fight my mother!” I shout and it makes her flinch because I’ve never raised my voice at her.
“But I can try! Why won’t you just let me do this?”
“Because I love you!”
I slap my hand over my mouth and watch as Kara’s eyes widen.
Well, I guess it’s out there now. . .
I sigh and take off my glasses, folding them before sliding them into my pocket.
“I love you, Kara, and not in a best friend kind of way. I won’t let you get hurt.”
Kara gapes at me and when she doesn’t say anything I clench my jaw and brush past her. “Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go home and get my affairs in order. There’s not much time left.”
Hurt claws at my throat when I leave the stunned superhero behind and I don’t try to stop the oncoming wave of tears.
I knew she didn’t think of me as more than a friend, but her blatant rejection of my feelings just now hurts more than anything I’ve ever felt before.
There’s not much I have to do when I get home because there isn’t much I can take with me, but I do sign the lease of the apartment over to my coworker Conan. He’s been looking for a new place to stay for a couple of months now and the apartment is payed off until the end of the year.
I also sign a resignation letter for work and put it on the kitchen counter next to my spare set of keys.
I’m just about to take some of the picture frames off the wall when I notice a nearing, familiar heartbeat.
I turn around just in time to see Kara coming in through the window with tears streaming down her face.
“What—“
I get cut off by a pair of lips on my own and my eyes widen before slamming shut.
Kara’s desperately pulling me closer by the back of my neck and I have to place my hands on her hips to stop myself from toppling into her.
She kissed me passionately and frantically, and I wince when I taste her salty tears.
I push at her hips, effectively breaking the kiss and stare at her questioningly. “What are you doing, Kara?”
I can’t let her play with my heart. Not now when I’m about to leave.
Another tear makes its way down her cheek and I fight the urge to wipe it away. She looks utterly hopeless and broken and when she whispers, “I love you, too’” the world stops spinning for a moment.
“It’s why I broke up with Mon El in the first place. You get me like no one else does. You listen to what I say and you’re kind, and modest, and your soul is beautiful. I can’t just let you leave. I-I want to go on dates with you. I want to hold your hand and wake up next to you. I want to make you breakfast in bed and kiss you until you’re breathless. Please don’t leave. Please. . .”
I feel my bottom lip tremble and squeeze my eyes shut. That is what I’ve wanted to hear for so long, and it’s so unfair that it’s just a little too late now.
“Kara, I can’t,” I whisper, opening my eyes again to find her blue eyes already on me.
She whimpers and surges forward, capturing my lips in another heated kiss.
I don’t fight her at all, pulling her closer by her waist until there’s virtually no space left between us.
Her lips are soft and warm, even though they’re moving against mine quite aggressively, and I sigh against her mouth when she buries her fingers in my hair and tugs me even closer.
I could get lost in this kiss and if it weren’t for the sudden burning sensation in my lungs I probably would have.
My grip on her waist involuntarily tightens and I pull back to double over and cough violently. It feels like I’m breathing fire and my throat closes, making me wheeze.
They released the lead.
I look up with tears in my eyes to find Kara watching me in horror.
“No, please. Not now,” she says, desperately cupping my cheeks.
She raises a hand to the comms device in her ear and frantically says something to the person on the other end. I’m assuming it’s Alex, but I can’t focus on what’s being said because the next time I cough, I’m coughing up blood.
It runs down the side of my mouth and I’m suddenly too weak to wipe it away, so Kara does it with alarm written all over her face.
She grabs me around the waist and hoists me over her shoulder, dashing out of the window within the blink of an eye.
The position is a little awkward and uncomfortable but I can’t focus on anything other than trying to get enough air in my lungs.
When we touch down on a field in the middle of nowhere, I see Mon El is already there, waiting and coughing next to Kara’s spaceship.
Kara sets me down gently and cups my cheeks again. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
I shake my head and press a kiss to the inside of one of her wrists, my hands landing on her hips as I sway dangerously on my feet.
I’m too weak to say anything so I just smile weakly, hoping it’s enough to show her that I’m not mad.
“I love you,” she chokes out, pulling out a necklace from beneath her suit. I realize it’s her mother’s and I try to pull away when she presses it into one of my hands. I can’t take something so valuable from her, but she just nods her head adamantly and pleads, “Take this. . . take this, please. It will keep you safe.”
I give in and cough again, holding my breath when she presses her lips against mine one last time.
When she pulls back and pushes me toward the ship, her face is twisted in agony and I know there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her not to feel this way.
But there’s nothing I can do, so I get into the ship behind Mon El, clutching her necklace against my chest as the hood materializes above us and we start to ascend.
I mouth I love you, and watch her shrinking figure through the glass. She waves goodbye and I almost break down completely at the sight of her watery smile.
Now
I land on Kara’s balcony, suddenly no longer sure about whether or not I want to do this, but then I see her through the window.
She’s curled up on the couch with a thin blue blanket draped over her. The TV is off and she’s not on her phone either, making me frown and wonder what she’s doing but then I see her wiping her cheek with the back of her hand.
My heart drops at the sight of her looking so dejected and I step forward without thinking and knock on the door.
She freezes for a second before slowly looking up. Her eyes widen when the land on me and she stumbles to her feet, almost tripping over the blanket in her haste to get to the door.
She flings it open, breathing heavily and staring at me with her bloodshot eyes.
“Hey,” I whisper softly and it takes only a couple of seconds for her to throw her arms around my neck and sob into my shoulder.
For the first time in seven years it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her infinitely closer.
The familiar smell of her vanilla shampoo makes my own eyes sting and I choke out a sob.
“You’re here,” she says against my skin, refusing to let go. “I don’t understand. Mon El said you stayed in the future.”
I want to be angry at that revelation, but I just can’t be when I have her in my arms. I press a kiss to her temple and let my lips linger for a moment. “No, I’m here. I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere ever again.”
Kara’s arms around me tighten and I bend down to pick her up by the back of her legs, carrying her inside.
She wraps her legs around my waist as I close the door behind us, and breathes heavily against my neck.
I move toward the couch and sit down, holding her in my lap as she continues to cling to me.
We stay like that until her sobs die down and she pulls back to look me in the eyes. Her hands cup my cheeks and she traces her thumbs over my cheekbones.
“I love you,” she croaks and I let out a shaky breath, pressing my forehead against hers.
My hands find their way to her hips and I squeeze carefully, whispering, “I love you, too.”
Kara brushes her nose against mine and pecks my lips tentatively. It sends sparks through my body and I respond immediately and move forward for more.
She hums, satisfied, and deepens the kiss by tugging at my bottom lip with her teeth. I gasp in surprise and she uses the opportunity to slip her tongue past my lips and brush it against my own.
It’s a feeling I’ve been craving since she kissed me for the first time and I haven’t stopped thinking about it for the past seven years.
Much too soon for my liking, Kara pulls back. She rests her hands on my chest and traces her index finger along the chain of the necklace she gave me. “Listen, I know it’s been seven years for you, but you have to know that it’s only been seven months for me since you left,” she reveals quietly and I feel my stomach drop when she adds, “So, you know, I get it if you’ve moved on. I mean, Mon El got married, so surely you—“
I cut her off with a soft kiss, letting my lips trail over her cheek and jaw before they land on her neck.
I nip slightly at her sensitive skin, drawing a barely audible moan from her before pulling back completely to meet her eyes.
“I would wait a lifetime if it meant I got to see you again,” I admit, my eyes darting between hers. Then to lighten the mood, I joke, “But I sure hope you haven’t moved on yet because if you have you’re going to be in quite a bit of trouble.”
The smile that lights up her face makes my heart flutter and she quickly shakes her head, denying that she’s seeing anyone.
“I haven’t gotten over you since you left and I honestly don’t know if I ever would have, but that doesn’t matter anymore. You’re here now and I’m not letting you go again.” She whispers that last part and closes the distance between us again to press a kiss to my neck right below my ear.
It makes me shudder and when she smiles against my skin, knowing exactly the effect she has on me, I pinch her side playfully.
She giggles and trails kisses up the side of my face, all the way across my forehead and down my nose until her lips land on mine in a short peck.
“So, what now? What’s going to happen to you and the Legion?” she asks, finding my hand to play with the Legion ring.
I shrug and trace patterns on her lower back with my unoccupied hand. “I will have some words with Mon El and the others about not waking me up, but I can promise you that I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. You’re stuck with me now.”
Kara laughs softly and squeezes my hand, wiggling forward on my lap so she can rest against my chest, her head tucked into the crook of my neck. “Good because I really want to go on dates with you and make you breakfast in bed.”
I smile and kiss the top of her head. “I can’t wait.”

Back To Earth - Chapter 2 (Sneak peek)
Chapter 1 on AO3
“You must like high-maintenance women. She is quite the handful,” Astra quips, as though this is a normal statement to say to the partner of one’s niece.
Lena snorts and goes back to her laptop. “She’s worth it.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
“So, how did that happen?”
“Kara and I?”
Astra hums her confirmation.
Lena looks up to the ceiling as she thinks. “I’m not totally sure because according to Kara and the change in the timeline, we had our first kiss right before boarding the ship to the Krypton mission, but according to my memories and how it went down originally, we admitted our feelings in a Kryptonian accommodation in the middle of the jungle after Kara’s meddling aunt decided to give us a not-so-gentle push in the right direction.”
Astra’s eyebrows raise in surprise before she closes them quickly and drops her head into her hands as an immediate headache takes over her.
Lena shoots to her feet, approaches the woman, and crouches next to her. “Astra, are you okay?”
“Damn timeline shifts.” Astra forces out from between gritted teeth. “Thanks for the memory, Lena.”
“Sorry.” Lena backs off as Astra leans back in her chair, hanging her head over the back of it as the sharp headache dulls into a thrum of manageable pulsations of pain.
“Don’t be. I love that memory.” Astra manages to smile, but to Lena, it looks more like a grimace.
“You really made us grow a pair and get our feelings out there. I love that memory too.”
“I think my time with Kara and the rest of the team is what changed my timeline,” Astra announces thoughtfully. “I think Kara did what she’s always able to do; she made me soft.”
Lena chuckles lowly. “Yeah, she’s really good at that.”
She made me see that what the Rebellion was doing wasn’t right. The council wasn’t doing right either, but when people started dying, I should have put a stop to it all. I guess that’s why Non and I ended up on opposing sides when Fort Rozz landed on Earth. Kara made me see reason.”
“For someone who doesn’t always make good decisions, she’s awfully good at inspiring other people to.”
Astra smiles widely at that. “You’re very right there, Lena.”

Asynchronous (Rift era, pre-Crisis, not nearly as much sc angst as the gif implies)
Where am I?, Kara thought, her body shaking as she pushed herself off the floor she had apparently crashed into, trying to stand. How long was I unconscious?
Her head was killing her. Pain was a rarity under a yellow sun, and in this case the feeling was hard to shake - it was just all too reminiscent of not long ago, when she was trapped in kryptonite, fighting burning lungs and a blinding headache while fighting heartbreak at the same time.
But she needed to not think about Lena right now.
Kara searched her mind for the last thing she remembered, Brainy’s words transmitted to her ears, telling her about the capabilities of the alien creature she was fighting. The creature was generally docile enough - but in a panic, it would thrash and quake, and it had the unique ability to…
Where… When am I?, Kara thought, looking around at the building whose ceiling she had fallen into. The creature could send her anywhere in time and space - forward or back in time, across the planet or galaxy, it didn’t matter. The good news is that the effect would be temporary in nature, lasting a day at most, before she snapped back into place, something about attenuated vibrations. “Time is like a rubber band,” Brainy had said, though Kara was certain she could hear pain in his attempt to simplify the explanation.
Kara heard the buzz of a portal behind her, the quick cock of a gun. “Don’t move,” came the familiar voice. “These aren’t ordinary bullets.”
Kara turned slowly, deflating under the hard eyes of her ex-best-friend. Lena was tense and angry, her finger resting on the trigger, her other hand on a tracking device. My heat signature, Kara thought, Guess she has kryptonite bullets now.
Lena’s eyes narrowed as she reached to her belt, before tossing vibrant green cuffs in Kara’s direction. “Put those on.”
Kara lowered herself to the floor, taking the cuffs, feeling the burn in her hands. She couldn’t really fathom Lena trying to kill her. But after the disruption of Lena’s Myriad plan, and now being held at gunpoint… “Lena, what are - what are you going to do?”
“How do you know my name?” Lena growled.
Kara’s eyes widened. Anywhere in time and space… “Who do you think I am?” Kara asked.
“Is that a joke?” Lena asked, as Kara’s mind revved into overdrive. “You think you can come back, with cartoonish S on your chest, and we’ll forget the Third Reich?”
Fear sank into Kara’s stomach. Earth X. “Lena, I know this looks like-”
“Through the portal. Now.”
-----------
Kara found herself sitting in an interrogation room.
Her mind was scrambling for what Barry had said had become of Earth X - she remembered that, in the aftermath, the Third Reich had fallen to the Resistance, which was trying to rebuild a non-fascist society. But she knew the balance had to be fragile. The Reich had its proponents.
But Kara didn’t have long to think, before another familiar face walked into the room. “Winn!” Kara said, jumping up.
“Sit down,” Winn growled back.
Kara tensed, shaking off her confusion as she slowly sank to her chair, as Winn gave Lena a skeptical look. Right, he’s not the Winn I know either…
Lena shrugged. “She knew my name, too.”
“You’re both my friends,” Kara said softly, “On my Earth.”
Winn ignored her words, stepping around the table to take a seat at its corner. “We need to know if the Führer is still alive.”
“He’s dead,” Kara said, meeting Winn’s eyes. “As is his wife.”
Winn’s eyes narrowed in suspicion.
“I was sent here by accident,” Kara answered. “At some point in the next day or so, I’ll snap back to my own Earth.” If you don’t kill me first, she thought.
“And how do I know you’re from another Earth?” Winn demanded.
“You met my sister,” Kara whispered, thinking back to Alex’s stories when they were separated on Earth X, years ago. “Alex Danvers. On my Earth, she’s your friend too.”
“You,” Winn said skeptically. “I’m friends with you.”
“I’m not from your Earth,” Kara said. “I’m not asking you to trust me. Just let me live long enough to go back to my own time.”
-----------
Kara fidgeted as she sat alone in the room again - watching, waiting, itching against the bounds of her kryptonite cuffs.
She was certain that Winn and Lena - possibly others - were debating what to do with her. Hopefully they don't just kill me, Kara thought, searching her mind for how she might prove she’s not from their Earth.
But the door opened again.
Lena stepped in quietly, eyes on Kara. But the anger was subdued from before. She was curious. “Lena,” Kara whispered.
The wariness wasn’t gone from Lena’s stance, but she sat across from Kara. “What’s it like, on your Earth?”
Kara smiled. My Lena would be curious about the other Earths too, she thought. “The Third Reich ended in 1945. We’re… far from a perfect world. But we haven’t had the struggle that you’ve had.”
“And you and I are friends?”
Kara’s expression faltered, as she glanced down at her hands. “We used to be. We used to be best friends.”
“What happened?”
Kara bit at her lip, unable to look Lena in the eye. “I betrayed you. You hate me now.”
Lena’s brows furrowed. “That doesn’t seem to be the sort of thing that would help your cause.”
“I’m not going to lie to you again,” Kara said. “I’ve done too much of that. The other you, I mean.”
Lena frowned, and Kara could see some of the tension in her body rise again. “What happened to my Earth’s Kara? How did she die?”
“Her heart was dying from too much solar exposure,” Kara said. “I took her up into the atmosphere before her body… it started a nuclear reaction.”
“And the Führer?”
“Oliver from another Earth killed him.”
Lena’s eyebrows briefly raised. “Winn met him, apparently.”
“Yeah. My sister was there too.”
-----------
Kara itched at her bonds again, wishing there was a clock she could check. I don’t know how much time would be left anyway, she thought to herself. But at least I’d know…
She was surprised to hear the door open again. Lena walked through with a cup and some bread, placing both in front of Kara on the table. “You must be hungry,” she said.
“Thank you,” Kara murmured, leaning forward and beginning to eat.
“What did you lie to me about?” Lena asked. “On your Earth?”
Kara swallowed harshly. “I- I kept my kryptonian identity from you. Kryptonians and Luthors don’t get along.”
“Luthors?”
Kara’s brow crinkled. “Are you a Walsh, here?”
Lena nodded slowly.
“Your mother…” Kara asked. “She’s alive?”
Lena’s eyes narrowed. “Yes.”
Kara smiled. She got to be raised by Elizabeth, she thought. “Are the Luthors alive? On this Earth?”
“No,” Lena said. “Alexander Luthor was the last Führer, before Oliver Queen. There was a power struggle.”
Kara nodded. “You were raised by the Luthors. On my Earth. So when I hid my identity, and became friends with you… you didn’t take it well when you found out.”
Lena looked on curiously. “The secret? Drove me to hate you?”
Kara shook her head. “There were other mistakes I made. In the aftermath. I… hurt you pretty badly.”
“So what did I do next?”
“You tried to brainwash the world.”
Lena’s eyes widened. “Why?”
“To make everyone kind.”
Lena’s brow raised. I guess that resonates, Kara thought. In a world full of fascists…
“I can see the appeal,” Lena said.
-----------
Kara was fascinated. And bored.
Her only company was Lena, on and off. She was grateful when Lena came in with food, and over the moon when Lena came in to exchange Kara’s kryptonite cuffs with far less painful power cuffs.
But her moments with Lena were few and far between given her apparent other responsibilities, leaving Kara staring up at the ceiling for long stretches of time.
She found herself torn, thoughts of “When will I be able to go home?” warring with “I hope my Lena looks at me like that again someday.”
-----------
“Are you happy here?” Kara asked. “Are you- are you with anyone?” Lena smiled. “I met him a year ago,” she said. “We butted heads on technical projects. Trying to rebuild our society’s infrastructure. But something more came of it.”
Kara smiled. “Jack?”
Lena’s eyes widened, and she nodded. “Jack.”
Kara nodded too. “I’m glad you have someone.”
Lena tilted her head curiously. “Were we more than friends?”
“You and Jack? Yeah, on my Earth-”
“No,” Lena clarified. “You and I. What were we to each other?”
Oh. “No,” Kara said, shifting uncomfortably. “We were only ever friends.”
“Is that all you wanted?”
“I just- don’t think it’s relevant to you-”
“I don’t know what I’m like on your Earth,” Lena said, leaning forward on her arms. “But if someone hurt me so badly that I try to brainwash the world about it, I think that person must’ve meant something to me.”
Kara bit her lip.
Lena’s brow quirked. “If your plan is to never lie to me again, that seems like the sort of thing you should tell me. Other me.”
Kara laughed, her heart twinging with joy and pain. “If we ever get along again, I’ll tell you.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
-----------
“Why are you trusting me?” Kara asked curiously.
“What do you mean?” Lena asked, in a tone that was more coy than confused.
“You just seem less suspicious of me than before,” Kara shrugged. “In the beginning.”
Lena’s lips quirked, taking a moment to consider Kara. She then raised her hand, twisting it slightly, causing a small yellow glow to appear. Kara noted in shock that there seemed to be a glow passing over her own body, too. “What’s happen- what are you doing?”
“Just making your temporal shift visible,” Lena said. “I scanned you after our first meeting. I can’t prove you’re not from this Earth, but I can prove that you’re not where the universe expects you to be right now.”
“I’m sorry, but-” Kara sputtered. “But are you using magic?”
“Lena doesn’t have magic on your Earth?” Lena said.
“I can’t even get my Lena to believe in magic,” Kara said with a laugh. “Rao, this is amazing.”
Kara glanced up, and found Lena smiling.
-----------
“How long have I been here?” Kara asked.
“About 12 hours,” Lena said. “Honestly, I’d let you go. But Winn said it might cause a panic anyway, if too many people see you walking around.”
Kara sat back for a moment. “Yeah, that makes sense.”
-----------
It was at the 17 hour mark - just after Lena had brought in more food - that Kara’s hands began to glow. “What are you doing now?” Kara asked.
“Nothing,” Lena said, leaning forward to eye the glow. “I think you’re being pulled back.”
“Oh,” Kara said, glancing up at the alternate Lena. What should I say? “Thank you,” Kara murmured. “Thanks for being good company.”
“Give me time,” Lena said gently.
“Time?”
“I’ll come to my senses,” Lena said, thinking to herself, nodding. “I- I know there’s baggage. But at some point, I will come to my senses. I’ll come back to you.”
Kara smiled. “I hope so.”
“Good luck, Kara Zor-El.”
-----------
Kara found herself falling. No longer cuffed, no longer in a dark dusty room - but bathed in sunlight and breathing fresh air. Earth-38, she thought gratefully.
She blinked, shooting upwards in the sky again, hearing shouting in her ear. “Kara?” came Brainy’s panicked voice. “Kara, are you still there?”
“I’m here,” Kara gasped, looking over National City.
“Must’ve lost you for a minute,” Brainy said. “The creature is by the arboretum. We’ve finished making the power net, J’onn is flying it over.”
Kara glanced to the north, but her ears were fixating somewhere southeast, locating a familiar heartbeat. We’ll figure it out, Kara thought, clinging to Earth X Lena’s words.
We’ll get there, in the end. “I’m on my way.”

Kara Danvers/ Supergirl x Reader sickfic
Overworked
Kara sighs as she enters your shared apartment. It’s late and she’s beyond exhausted, like actually exhausted, because guess what? She blew out her powers, again! Ugh she hates when random aliens land on Earth, decide to destroy it and put up so much of a fight that she has to literally give her all to save the world. Ok, well she doesn’t mind the save the world part. And she loves being Supergirl, it’s just when the “super” side of her gets used up and she is just the “girl” that she gets annoyed. Kara doesn’t know how humans live like this every. single. day.
After shoving leftover potstickers in her face, throwing her suit into the wash, and taking a long, long hot shower to get all the dust and rocks out of her hair, Kara finally joins you where you sleep peacefully in bed. You’ve been together long enough to know that Kara always comes home, and she’s assured you of that enough times that now when she goes out to save the world, you’re content to just do your thing and fall asleep knowing she’ll be home soon. Only at the beginning of your relationship would you stay up all night long anxiously waiting to make sure the heroine made it home. It’s not that you don’t worry about her anymore, it’s that you know you don’t always need to.
Climbing into bed next to you, Kara snuggles herself deep down into the warm blankets, the soft mattress providing solace for her aching bones as she finally lets her self relax. “Mmmm.” You murmur, feeling the bed dip and snuggling deeper into Kara’s arms as she pulls you flush against her chest and wraps her arms around you. “Kar…?” She kisses your hair. “It’s me, love. Let’s sleep, huh? We’ll talk in the morning.” She hums, settling her face into the crook of your neck, placing a gentle kiss to your skin.
You smile and hum happily before drifting back to sleep in seconds. Kara closes her eyes and breathes you in, enjoying the quiet moment, the only sound being the steady rise and fall of your breaths. She knows you’ll worry if she tells you she lost her powers, so for now, at least in this moment, she’s content to let you sleep peacefully and tell you about it in the morning.
When morning comes, you have to stifle a laugh when you wake to find your girlfriend sleeping in the most ridiculous position ever. Most of the time Kara sleeps peacefully, like an angel and for some mysterious Kryptonian reason, she never has bad bed head, or well maybe that’s just you thinking she looks cute no matter what. Either way, now her golden locks are sprawled across the pillows and her mouth hangs open slightly as she sleeps face up, her legs completely tangled in the blankets.
Luckily, you wake up before her alarm, so you carefully crawl out of bed, hoping to let her have a few extra minutes of sleep before she has to rush to work. With her powers, she could wake up five minutes before work and still get there on time just like any other day. You know because you’ve witnessed that very scenario not just once, but many, many times.
What you don’t know is your normally speedy girlfriend is now just a regular human who more resembles a sloth. Kara wakes up so long after her alarm that it stopped beeping ages ago. Groggily rubbing her eyes, she looks over to see your spot empty, though when she fumbles around for her phone, she quickly finds a ‘good morning, love, have a wonderful day’ text from you. Kara smiles softly down at her phone before her eyes drift to the time. Shit! She’s definitely late for work! Ahhgg! Ms. Grant’s gonna kill me. She thinks as she bolts out of bed and rushes to get ready as fast as humanly possible (which is waaayyy slower than if she had her powers).
Kara feels her phone buzz for the 10th time in her pocket as she’s riding the elevator up to the top floor. She knows who it is and dread bubbles in her chest as she gets ready to face her probably fuming boss….and well yeah, yup she was right, Ms. Grant is livid with her for being late. After apologizing multiple times with many promises to make it better, Kara is sent back to her desk to start filing a huge stack of paperwork which Cat deems a decent retaliation to her being so late. By lunch time Kara isn’t even halfway through the stack.
Working without powers sucks. Ok so maybe she shouldn’t use her powers to get ahead of work but she can get so much more done when she uses her super-speed! But well that doesn’t matter right now. Because right now Kara just got her first ever paper cut and damn she’d rather be punched by Superman and stabbed with a Kryptonite knife—seriously how does such a little cut sting so bad?!
Kara gets a call from you around noon but she lets it go to voicemail, opting instead to text you, explaining how busy she is today and that Ms. Grant gave her so much work that she’s planning on staying late. You text backing to say you love her and make her promise to remember to eat lunch. Well, she may have promised but Kara definitely doesn’t do that. Instead she skips lunch even though her stomach is growling so loudly that some of her coworkers glance up at her from time to time.
By the end of the day, her head is throbbing and her eyes are burning from looking at sheet after sheet of incessant paperwork. She’s almost done, though, so she stays a couple extra hours and my the time she catches a bus and makes her way back to the apartment, she finds you fast asleep on the couch, the credits of a movie playing on the tv. The exhausted Kryptonian switches it off, then using the last of her energy, she picks you up and carries you to bed where she collapses into the soft mattress next to you and falls asleep within seconds, and without dinner.
***
Kara wakes up to the smell of something warm and sweet and her stomach clenches at the recollection that she hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning. While she doesn’t have her normal huge Kryptonian appetite right now, she knows that’s definitely too long to go without food. “Good morning sleepyhead.” You greet Kara as she follows the smell into the kitchen to find you standing over a freshly made plate of pancakes and bacon with a breakfast smoothie next to it. Kara’s mouth waters. “You came home late huh?” You kiss her temple as she walks by you, immediately going for the food. You laugh at her eagerness.
“Mhmh…thandk you.” Kara nods through a mouthful as you sit down next to her with a plate of your own. When Kara finishes, she pushes her plate away and turns to look at you, a small worried crease in her brows. You frown, reaching up to brush some hair from her face. “What wrong love?” You murmur and the blonde sighs. “I uh, blew out my powers the other night, I didn’t tell you ‘cuz you were asleep then at work and…” You smiled softly, not a hit of disappointment in your expression.
“Are you okay?” You interrupt her rambling and Kara breathes a sigh of relief at your earnestness. “Yeah, babe, I’m okay. Just tired I guess. I hate being human.” She leans her forehead onto the counter, surprising herself with how nice the cool marble feels against her skin. “Don’t worry, Kar, I’m sure your powers will be back soon.” You stand up, kissing her hair and taking your plates to the sink. Kara lifts her head. “I love you.” She simply states, gazing at you with a sleepy smile that quickly turns into a yawn.
You laugh. “I love you too. Now, let’s get to work before you fall back asleep yeah?” You hold out your hand and the two of you go to get ready for work. You don’t take notice in the way Kara moves slowly, sluggish even, or if you do, you don’t mention it. You just remind her to take it easy at work today if she can and promise to get her favorite take out for dinner tonight before you go your separate ways for the day.
As Kara makes her way to the bus stop, she can’t help but notice the way her bones ache with every step and the way her head had started throbbing the second she’d woken up that morning. She pushes the thoughts out of her mind, boarding the bus with an unconscious sniffle as she readies herself for the long day ahead of her.
Of course Ms. Grant gives her another big stack of work to do even though she’s on time today. On top of that, she keeps sending Kara out to run errands for her boss, each bus ride or walk only amplifying the exhaustion slowly settling its way into the Kryptonian’s body. By the end of the day, Kara can barely keep her eyes open as she unlocks the door and lets herself into the apartment.
Without needing to say a word, you see the exhaustion all over her face and pull Kara into a warm and much appreciated hug. She sinks into your arms and you hum. “Long day?” Kara nods into your shoulder and you lead her to the couch where you have a movie and take out all set up for an evening of chilling out with your favorite person.
Even though Kara falls asleep twice during the movie, you go to bed before her since she gets an email later that night from Cat giving her one last thing to do before bed. You kiss Kara’s cheek and head to bed. She drags herself to the dining table where her computer is set up and forces herself to finish the dreaded task. By the time she’s finished, the harsh light from the computer effectively makes her head spin and the words spin in her mind, making her dizzy, even when she closes the screen.
Shower. A shower is what she needs. Kara stumbles her way to the bathroom, bracing herself on the sink after she turns on the water. Looking at herself in the mirror she doesn’t even recognize the sight looking back. Her hair is rumpled, her skin pale, her eyes red and cheeks flushed. She looks like how she feels.
Getting into the steaming shower, Kara revels in the hot water that warms her chilly body. Soon steam is all she can see as she washes her hair and soon she’s stepping out and wrapping herself in a fluffy white towel. As the cooler air of the bathroom hits her nose, she sniffles, a shiver making its way down her spine. She sneezes three times into her towel and glares at herself in the foggy mirror. She doesn’t have time for this again. Deciding to ignore the cold she knows she coming down with, Kara finds herself in bed finally, setting her alarm for the morning, and falling asleep once more.
Again, you wake up before her and make your way to work, but not before leaving out some breakfast for your girlfriend, knowing it will help her get to work on time if she doesn’t have to make it herself. Kara wakes with a groan. She feels like absolute shit. Her nose is stuffed but runny, her head is still throbbing and her throat is dry, each swallow as painful as the last. But still, she drags herself to work, ignoring the wary looks of her coworkers as she comes into the office, coughing and sniffing constantly. She manages to avoid Ms. Grant for the time being, her boss was in a private early morning meeting and so Kara settles herself at her desk once more, opens her computer and starts on today’s work. But as time goes on, her eyes droop heavier, her mind starts to feel like a thick pool of mud and she doesn’t even notice when her head drops, darkness swirls around her and she passes out.
***
“Oh uh, yes, okay Ms.Grant, I-I’ll be right there. Thanks for calling me.” You hang up immediately and quickly grab your coat and bag, turning off the lights in your office before going to tell your boss you need to leave—it was a personal emergency.
You rush to your car and if you go a little too far above the speed limit while making your way to CatCo, well at least no one noticed. The second you’d seen it was Cat Grant calling, you knew something was wrong with Kara. You knew she’d blown out her powers a couple days ago, and you can sense she hasn’t been herself and Cat just confirmed why.
As you drive, you remember how she wasn’t acting like herself last night…or the past couple days for that matter. According to her boss, your girlfriend is currently asleep at her desk, obviously sick and probably miserable. For Kara to literally fall asleep at work, and for Cat to actually call you directly, sounding….worried? You knew this wasn’t good. Worry bubbles in your own chest. You know how much Kara hates being sick and you hate the thought of her feeling so miserable.
You let out a sigh as you park and practically run into the building. Moments later and you’re stepping out of the elevator and making your way towards Kara’s desk. As the distance between you shrinks, your heart sinks as you get a better look at the blonde. She’s fast asleep on top of her computer, her normal immaculate pony tail messy, strands of hair sticking out in random places. A thin layer of sweat coats her face and a deep flush contrasts the abnormal paleness of her skin.
As you crouch down next to her, you place a gentle had on her cheek, brushing strings of golden hair from her face. Kara’s skin is way too warm, definitely running a fever. “Kara? Baby.” You lightly run your thumb along the soft skin of her cheek to wake her up. She lets out a sleepy, congested groan before slowly opening her ocean eyes a little. Her blue orbs open fully when she sees recognizes your sweet smile and loving gaze. “Hey sweet girl.” You greet softly with a tender smile.
“What’re you doin’ here?” Kara rasps, voice raw and congestion slurring her words. “I should be asking you the same thing.” You raise an eyebrow slightly at her before letting your expression soften once more. “You’re obviously sick, Kara. You should be at home, resting.” You run a hand along her arm and she yawns, shaking her head and wincing slightly at the motion. Sitting up properly, she opens her computer before answering.
“I’m fine, babe. It’s jus’ a little cold. Humans go to work sick all the time. If they can do it, so can I.” You sigh at her words knowing Kara doesn’t like to show weaknesses and often doesn’t take the time to take care of herself, making sure everyone else is instead.
“They also take days off when they need it.” You try again, rubbing Kara’s back as she falls into a painful sounding coughing fit. You glance up for a moment, and catch Ms.Grant out of the corner of your eye, standing behind the shut glass door of her office, watching the scene unfold from the safety of the other room. She looks slightly worried which is something you’ve never seen but she also looks impatient and maybe a little annoyed so you know you need to get Kara home asap. “There’s nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, Kara.” You softly place your hands gently on your girlfriend’s shoulders.
She sighs, leaning into your touch. “But I really need to get this wor….huhh—nNhh-shhuuu! Huhnh-sshhhoo! Uhh-nuhh…hehhtchuu!….work done.” Kara sneezes hard into the crook of her arm, the action making the room spin. Her eyes squeeze shut and she takes a few deep breaths as a shiver runs down her spine as fever chills wash through her. Damn being human sucks. She looks up at you, finally giving in.
“O-okay. You’re right.: She admits with a resigned smile. “Take me home?” The Kryptonian whispers. You smile, helping Kara stand up before pulling her into a warm hug, also glancing ahead to watch Ms.Grant nod and return to her desk now that she knows Kara will be taken care of. Kara may push herself too far too often, but both you’re always there to bring her back before she pushes herself over the edge.
“I’d love nothing more, baby.” You murmur as you place a chaste kiss to her hair. “Now let’s get you home.”

How You Get the Girl
Supergirl. Lena Luthor x Reader!, Kara Danvers.
Word Count: 2500.
Notes: I really love this fic, and part 2 (my favorite ever written) is coming soon :)
"Hey, remember my friend Barry?" Kara asks as you settle onto her couch, balancing containers of takeout food. The late hour has granted Kara a break from her Supergirl duties, allowing for a rare moment of tranquility.
"Barry Allen?" You confirm, and she nods. "The one from another Earth?"
"Yeah." She hands you your food and takes a seat beside you, facing you. "Sometimes we meet just to talk, instead of dealing with end-of-the-multiverse situations."
"Nice. I didn't know that." You start eating, but Kara hesitates, an uncommon occurrence as she's typically the one speaking with her mouth full. "Have you seen him recently?"
"Yeah, and he told me something amusing." Kara tilts her head, uncertain. "He ended up in the wrong universe, thinking he was coming here. He was very confused because everything was oddly similar. You know, there was me, you, Alex, Lena, J'onn…"
"Isn't that normal for different universes?" You furrow your brows. "I might not know much about it, but Lena explained once that when a diversion event occurs, a new Earth is created, so—"
"Yeah, yeah." Kara interrupts, contemplating her words as you watch curiously. "The weird part was that you and Lena were..." She pauses, choosing her words carefully. "Together."
"Okay?" You return your attention to your food, losing interest. "We do spend a lot of time together."
"No, I mean, romantically together. Dating." Kara's revelation makes you snap your head up, heart racing. "More than that, actually. You guys were married! And had a kid!"
"A kid?" You laugh nervously. "Now that's absurd."
"Really? The kid part is absurd?" Kara sets aside her untouched food. "So you and Lena being married didn't strike you as absurd enough?"
You swallow hard, avoiding Kara's gaze as your cheeks flush. Is any of what Kara's saying absurd? Not entirely. Have you thought about you and Lena together before? Definitely. Have you secretly hoped for the day Lena will stop pining over Kara so you can do something about your love for her? Absolutely. Will you ever confess this to Kara? Not a chance.
"I mean," You take a deep breath, raising your head and trying to compose yourself. "Perhaps that's why the new Earth was created, right? A wild new scenario? Me and Lena."
Kara blinks, then chuckles. "I guess you're right." She finally picks up her food and begins eating. "I'm not sure if that's how a new Earth is created, but it's certainly wild enough."
Yeah. Wild enough.
Lena steps off the elevator, and you lift your head to admire her before she notices. Her hair is in perfect dark waves down her shoulders. She looks so tiny in her white sneakers, but you love them so dearly because you know how much more comfortable she's been ever since she stopped wearing those awful heels for work. Her lips, just a splash of red in them, as she's recently been dabbing with wearing less makeup than usual. You don't think she's ever looked this pretty.
The headquarters is unusually quiet; J'onn is in another room, Kara is at work, Alex is out with her girlfriend, and Winn is occupied in one of the computers. For now, it's just you and Lena, which means pining is almost allowed.
"Hey, Y/N." Lena approaches, carrying a gigantic book and sporting a playful grin. "I know you're gearing up to tease me about my book, so go ahead."
"Honestly, Lena. You think too little of me." She raises one eyebrow at you and you hold back your smile. You manage your best British accent. "Have you gone mad, Hermione? Are you a witch or not?"
"Ah. There it is—the Harry Potter quote I've been waiting for." Lena drops the book onto the table with a thud, and you glance at the cover. "Ironically, it's actually about magic." You offer her a smirk, earning an eye roll in return. "So, has Kara mentioned anything about her last encounter with The Flash?"
"Uh." Your mouth drops, why is Lena bringing this up? "She – She might've mentioned seeing him."
"Right. So apparently she told him about my theory on elseworlds and he doesn't agree with it." Lena opens her book, looking for a page. And you breathe out, relieved you won't need to have that fun conversation with someone else. "So, you know, obviously I have to prove him wrong."
"Obviously."
You stare at her lips, curving into a smile. So red and perfect. So close and yet so far away. She might be beside you, but the gap between you feels insurmountable.
"Oh, and he also said something about us being married!" She says and you choke on your own saliva and starts coughing violently. Lena's hand goes to your back and she soothes you, in a protective manner. "I mean, I know it's a little far-fetched, but that's an odd reaction."
"I just –" You try to breathe again, ignoring Lena's hands on your back and the way it makes your body shiver under her touch. "I wasn't expecting that. Sorry."
Lena chooses to ignore your awkwardness, which is very much appreciated, and you fall silent thinking about things you will not have, body parts you will not hold, and the reciprocated love that you won't feel. Thoughts etched in the inside of your mind, so addicted to the illusion of a love that never was and never will be.
"How –" You look back at her and she raises her head, previously nose buried in the book, and you swallow your nervousness. "How does a diversion event occur in order to create a new Earth? Is it something big and worldwide, or is it something small and insignificant?"
"Well, it is commonly thought to be big events. The small insignificant things that follow are usually in response to them."
"I see." You breathe deep one more time, mastering your best courage. "So, what would happen if I were to meet the other me or you from another universe? Would it be a paradox or something?"
"No. We're all different people." You bite the inside of your mouth thinking about it. Lena's voice brings you back from your trance. "Why the sudden interest?"
"Hm? Oh, I'm just trying to understand more." You smile getting up from your place. "Thanks for explaining it to me." She looks at you curiously and you over explain things with your arms, like a lunatic. "Things are slow today. I'm just gonna head home. If there's an emergency, just hit me up."
"Oh, sure." Lena has barely noticed you're gone, nose buried in the book once again. "Yeah, we'll let you know."
Is it madness? You pace the apartment floor, wrestling with your thoughts. Is it crazy to entertain the idea of venturing into another Earth just to witness a scenario where you and Lena are together? Is it reckless and irresponsible? Is it even fair?
But this love you feel for her has been eating you from the inside. You don't believe there's ever been a space quite as big as the one she wished into existence between your heart and hers. So how can you not? How can you not go on an excursion to find out how to summon this love into being?
"Hey!" Kara taps on your window and you turn around to look at her. "What's the emergency?"
"I need to go on a trip." You say. Packed bags at the edge of the couch, forced smile on your face. She flies in, landing close to it.
"Whe –"
"Can't tell you where. Just wanted to give you a heads-up so you won't worry."
Kara studies you, suspicion evident in her eyes. "Did something happen? Are you going on a mission?"
"No!" You rush to assure her, preventing any further questions. "No, no. Nothing happened, really. It's not a –" But it is a mission of sorts. "Not a real mission, maybe one just to answer a question that keeps me fast awake at night."
Kara squints her eyes looking at you, clearly finding your act extremely suspicious, and you curse yourself for your breath stuck in your lungs and the heart beating almost out of your body.
"Kara, you don't need to worry, I promise."
"Too late! Am worried!" She breathes out, sitting on your couch, right next to your bag. "What's going on? You've been acting weird these days. And DON'T –" She points at you accusingly, because she knows you were about to open your mouth and defend yourself. "say you're not, because I know you and you can't fool me, no matter how much you want to."
She's right. Kara knows you inside out. But there's one thing she's mistaken about: you've been successfully fooling her for months.
This pining over Lena, this ridiculous huge crush you've been nurturing for Lena Luthor has been going for far too long. You crave the way she smells and how she talks. You dream about green eyes and perfect arched eyebrows directed at you. You're consistently going out of your way just to see her. You jump on cases, and suggest team pairings. It's crazy the fact that no one noticed yet, because honestly? You don't think you're doing a far too good of a job when your mouth literally drops at the sight of her.
And yet, your best friends haven't figured it out. None of them. Not even the Kryptonian with super hearing and x-ray vision.
"You have nothing to worry about, really. But I can't tell you where I'm going, so you're just gonna have to trust me on this one." You try your best puppy eyes and sweet smile. "You do, right? You trust me?"
Kara's eyes soften immediately as she stands and comes closer to you, "Of course I do, Y/N. You're a strong, powerful woman and you can take care of yourself." She reaches for your arm and winks at you. "Plus, you have me on speed dial."
She means the watch.
You agree with your head and hug her goodbye.
You've never been to another Earth. Have heard enough about it, though, to not look completely lost and out of place. So you do your research, does Supergirl exist? Is Lena running some kind of business empire? Where do all the heroes meet up?
You're quick to find out, LuthorCorp is still very much a thing here, and it's run by yours truly, your so-called wife, Lena. So you make your way there first thing.
"Hi," You try, while talking to the receptionist. "I'm here to see Lena, I'm –"
"Mrs. Luthor!"
Startled, you glance behind, finding no one. "Where?" Then the realization dawns. "Oh. Oh! You mean me. Yeah, I never quite got used to it. Can I go up?"
"Of course, ma'am."
You step into the elevator, musing over how Lena's last name sounds rather fitting when associated with you. In fact, you might prefer it to your own.
"Mrs. Luthor," you overhear Lena's assistant on the phone as soon as she spots you. "Your wife is here."
You make a gesture to correct her, but she's already running to the door. "Mrs. Luthor, please." she nods at you.
"Oh, you don't have – it's ok. I can –" You finally smile back at her. "I'll take it from here, thanks."
As soon as the door closes behind you, Lena makes her way towards you.
Holy shit, she's a mirror image of your Lena. Not a single strand of hair out of place. She even wears the same style of heels your Lena used to, with a high ponytail and those perfect red lips curved into a smile.
"Darling, I didn't know you were dropping by." Before you can say anything, she's planting a kiss on you—a short, sweet peck that catches you off guard. It takes a few moments for you to close your eyes and reciprocate, only to find Lena pulling away. "Is everything all right?"
"I'm not your wife!" The words burst out before she can lean in again, the realization hitting you hard. It hurts to say, especially when all you want is to kiss Lena once more, even though she's not truly your Lena.
"What?" Lena's eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"I'm a different Y/N. From another Earth." You point to yourself, trying to convey the truth. She stares at you in disbelief, so you rack your brain for ways to convince her. "Call your wife, and you'll see."
Lena blinks, then reaches for her phone on her desk. After a brief conversation, she hangs up. "You're not my wife," she confirms, setting her phone down. "Sorry for the unexpected kiss. You look exactly like her. Well, you are her."
"It's okay. I can't say I hated it." You admit, feeling a blush rise to your cheeks at her amused smirk. Maybe you shouldn't have said that.
"Let me guess, your own world is in danger, and you need our help, or something equally insane?" Lena guesses with a sigh.
"My world is fine. But I do need your help with something insane."
Lena gestures toward the couch, and you follow suit. "Do tell, not-my-wife."
"How did we end up together in this universe? How did I win you over?" You're not even half seated yet and are blurting out questions.
"Win me over?" Lena chuckles at your choice of words. "Oh, darling. You fell in love with a Lena?"
"I'm afraid I did. Except mine is in love with Kara, so –"
"Oh, ok." This Lena shakes her head like that thought is insane. "Can't help you in that area. I was always in love with you – your version from here. In fact, you didn't win me over. I was the one who had to win you."
"Oh yeah, that was probably so hard. Flash those green eyes and a knowing smirk at me, and I'm already head over heels for you."
Lena nods in agreement, a smile playing on her lips. "To be honest, that was pretty much it."
Great, this entire excursion to another universe was useless. This Y/N finally got the girl, and you can't be helped.
"I'm sorry," Lena is quick to say. "I know I was of no help, but don't lose hope!"
"How do you know–"
"Please, Y/N. I am your wife." She reaches for your hand, smiling warmly. "If you fell in love with me here and in your universe, there's likely others where we end up together. I'm not saying you can visit them all—"
"I will visit them all!" You declare, rising from the couch, and you can practically feel Lena rolling her eyes. As you stand, she does too, and you share a goodbye hug. "Thanks for your help, not-my-wife! A pity kiss goodbye in case I never get the girl?"
She chuckles at your jest and plants a kiss on your cheek. "I'm certain you'll get her."
With renewed determination, you prepare for another journey to another Earth.

It was a brisk morning in National City, and the aftermath of the previous day's epic battle were still evident. Kara had fought tirelessly against a formidable alien threat, leading to an intense solar flare. She had been drained completely of her Kyrptonian abilities.
Ignoring her pounding headache and the chills that racked her body, Kara dragged herself out of bed and donned herself in a thick jumper and pants. She hoped that the outfit would help warm her up a little, but as she looked in the mirror, she couldn't help but notice the paleness of her usually vibrant face.
Taking the bus was the worse decision she could’ve made. It was awful. Everything seemed to swirl and spin around her. Not only that the clammy atmosphere and cramped seats made her feel as if she was being boiled – wearing this jumper was definitely not a good idea.
As the bus finally arrived at CatCo Worldwide Media, Kara stumbled off, feeling more disoriented than ever. She clutched her bag tightly and forced a weak smile as she entered the building. The fluorescent lights seemed extra bright, and the noise of the bustling office felt like an assault on her senses. She desperately tried to push through the fatigue and make her way to Lena’s office to get her morning debriefing.
Kara sneezed; the sound amplified by the quiet surroundings as everyone turned to look. Her weakened muscles couldn't keep her fully balanced, and she swayed dangerously. Instinctively, she reached out to steady herself against the nearest wall, but her fingers only grazed the surface before she lost her balance completely.
“Kara? Kara!” Lena yelled seeing the blonde physically stumble into a reporter's desk, rubbing at her nose with her sleeve and mumbling something under breath.
“Kara, what on earth are you doing?” The Luthor asked, she reached out to pull her into her office but as Lena’s hand met Kara’s skin her eyes widened in concern at the blazing heat radiating from her.
“Mmmh ‘ere to work.” She slurred, “‘s got a job to do.”
Lena practically carried Kara into her office where she sat her down on the sofa, placing her hand gently on her forehead, “Shit Kara, you’re really burning up. Why on earth would you come in with a fever like this, never mind better question, how did you get here like this?”
Her mind was racing with the million dangerous things that could’ve happened to her. Kara was the first ever real friend she’d had and something like this filled her with worry.
“Mmh’ took ‘s bus”. Kara mumbled before breaking off into a chesty sounding cough, curling further in on herself.
Lena was kneeling down at her side with some water in an instant, “Honey you need to drink this,” she instructed, holding the glass to her lips as she supported the back of the blonde’s head, helping her drink, “I’m gonna call Y/N, alright? They’ll come pick you up. In the meantime, you’re going to sleep. I’ve never seen you like this.”
Kara shivered, chills running down her exposed arms, “I am?”
“Yes. You are, stay here and I’ll go get you a blanket from storage.” Lena sighed before hurriedly going off towards storage.
Despite Lena's best efforts to convince Kara to rest and take care of herself, the stubborn Kryptonian journalist was having none of it. As soon as Lena left to get a blanket, Kara attempted to get up from the sofa, but her weakened state caused her to stumble - it was by some sheer stroke of luck that she managed to stay upright.
“Excuse me?” A sudden stern voice stopped her in her tracks, “Kara what the hell are you doing up?” Lena sighed, leading the mumbling girl back to the sofa, instructing her to lay down before draping a soft grey blanket over her.
Kara's eyes drifted closed as exhaustion weighed heavily on her. "But I hav’ responsibilities..."
"You're no good to anyone if you push yourself to the point of collapse," Lena insisted firmly. "Trust me, the world can wait. Right now, you need to prioritise your health."
Kara groaned weakly, her eyes half-lidded as she mumbled, "Can't rest... people... need Supergirl."
Lena furrowed her brows in concern, just how delirious was this girl, "Supergirl can handle things. Right now, you need to focus on getting better. You can trust her to take care of the city."
"Nooo... I am Supergirl," Kara murmured, her voice barely audible as she coughed again.
Lena's eyes widened, and she leaned in closer, thinking she must have misheard. "What did you say?"
"I'm Supergirl," Kara repeated, her words clearer this time, though her eyes were still unfocused, “Its’s me.”
Lena couldn't help but let out a small, disbelieving laugh. "Kara, you're just delirious from the fever honey. It's okay. I know you're dedicated to your job, but you don't have to pretend to be Supergirl right now."
Kara's brow furrowed, and she weakly protested, "No, I mean it. I'm Supergirl... I've always been Supergirl. I can fly like woosh.” She made the motion with her hand which apparently was a bad idea and she groaned in response.
Lena sighed, deciding to play along with Kara's delusion to keep her calm. "Alright, alright. Of course, you’re Supergirl. Now, close your eyes and get some rest, okay?” Boy, was she going to tease her about this once she was feeling better.
As Kara drifted in and out of consciousness, Lena kept a watchful eye on her, making sure she stayed as comfortable as possible. She grabbed her phone and dialled a number she knew by heart, putting the phone on speaker so she could tend to Kara while waiting for the call to connect.
After a few rings, a familiar voice answered, "Hey, Lena, what's up?"
"Y/N, it's Kara. She's really sick," Lena replied, concern evident in her voice.
"Oh no, is she okay?" You asked, immediately picking up on Lena's worried tone. You didn’t hear it often so when you didn’t you knew it was serious.
"She’s got a pretty high fever, and she's delirious, probably the flu I think. Can you come to CatCo and take her home? I'm really worried about her," Lena explained, glancing at Kara, who was still half-conscious on the sofa.
"Of course, I'll be right there," You replied reassuringly, as you searched your pockets for your car keys, "Tell her I'm on my way."
You rushed to CatCo , worrying about Kara's condition. When you arrived, you found Lena sitting next to Kara, who was wrapped in a blanket and looking awfully pale. Lena looked relieved to see you and quickly filled you in on what had happened there.
"She's been insisting she's Supergirl," Lena whispered to you, a hint of amusement in her voice, "I think it's just the fever talking, but she's really out of it."
You gave Kara a gentle smile and stroked her hair as you tried to hide the flicker of worry. Kara never told anyone about Supergirl, you’d been there countless times when hiding the truth became too much so to hear she’d finally said it in her feverish delirium, well that worried you a little. At least Lena didn’t seem to buy it. "Hey, Supergirl, I'm here to take you home. Let's get you out of here and into bed, okay?"
Kara weakly smiled back at you, her eyes still unfocused, "Y/N?”
"It’s me sweetheart," you replied, trying to keep your voice light to put her at ease. "You should’ve told me this morning you were sick; you should’ve stayed home love.”
You carefully helped Kara stand up, supporting her with your arm around her waist as she swayed slightly. Lena followed closely; concern etched on her face. With your help, you managed to get Kara outside and into your car, laying her down in the backseat.
As you drove back to her apartment, Kara drifted in and out of consciousness, occasionally muttering something about saving people and protecting the city. You kept as close as an eye possible on her in the rearview mirror, making sure she was okay as you quickly got her home.
As soon as you reached Kara's apartment, you carefully carried her inside, laying her down on her bed. Lena followed behind, offering her assistance. Together, you made sure Kara was comfortable and tucked her in under the covers. The apartment was cooler than CatCo, which was a relief to the very clammy Kara.
Her fevered mind seemed to latch onto your comforting presence as she reached out to grab your hand before you could leave, “Stay?”
"Of course, I will baby." you replied, feeling a mix of worry and tenderness for the woman lying in front of you. You had seen her as Supergirl, strong and confident, but seeing her vulnerable like this was a reminder that in some ways she was just as human as you were. You climbed onto the bed and settled down beside her, making sure to keep a safe distance so she wouldn't feel overheated. "Just rest, and I'll be here if you need anything."
Kara shifted slightly closer to you, seeking your warmth and comfort. She curled up against your side, resting her head on your shoulder. "Thank you," she whispered, "You always take care of me."
"You're welcome, Kara," you replied softly, gently rubbing her back to soothe her. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
As Kara nuzzled against you, seeking solace in your presence, she let out a small, involuntary sneeze. The sound was muffled by your chest, and you could feel her body shivering with chills. You pulled the covers up to her shoulders, ensuring she was snug and warm.
"Sorry," Kara sniffled, sounding apologetic, "I can't seem to stop sneezing."
"It's okay, don't worry about it," you reassured her, running your fingers through her hair. "Just focus on resting and getting better. I'll take care of you."
Kara's eyes fluttered closed, and she let out a tired sigh. "You're the best," she whispered, her words slurring slightly from exhaustion.
“You’re the best too but maybe we can work on staying home when we’re sick and not spilling your secret to everyone?” You teased whilst rubbing her back sweetly.
Kara managed a weak chuckle, her eyes still closed. "Yeah, maybe I should work on that." she mumbled, her voice growing fainter as she drifted closer to sleep.
