New Year Resolutions
This year has been a wild one as a freelancer. On my own, but thanks to my agencies, my other music partners, I am sure the NEXT year will be even better.
But I do need to conclude this year with the achievements in form of a list.
1. Music for Street Fighter Alpha mode in SFV Arcade mode. Got this job after my work with ZEKU seemed to align well with the image of the SFA series modernized version of the sound.
2. Sakura’s Theme for Street Fighter V. A house-track (which I rarely do) in shuffle-style. An interesting growth for the character, and no, I didn’t write the stage theme.
3. The big one... the LEGEND. The song that was a make it or break it. The theme for CODY in SFV. I had 2 previous versions that were a little bit darker until we managed to find a nice balance from dark to bright with a feeling of redemption. When this finally was finally released down the line at “Combo Breaker 2018″ my heart was fluttering because I couldn’t see or hear the audience reaction until later. Someone managed to film the reaction of everybody who was there. Once I saw their head noddin’ up and down, I knew I could finally relax. The pressure was finally lifted from my shoulders.
But...
4. G... The President of the World. When I thought it couldn’t get any more fun or even more Strange (No pun intended), the mission of combining Synth-music with Jazz, but without any specification about what kind of Jazz, I was on my own. And I hope I managed to craft a theme fitting the character who’s new to the franchise.
5. Tokyo Game Show - Finding new contacts, able to link up with some of the legends of my childhood game-creators and storywriters, this was an amazing event with hopefully all new collaborations waiting for me starting next year.
6. Sweden Game Conference - First time back in my home-country and my hometown, having a presentation and 2 workshops about my philosophy and work-ethic related to the mental state of “FLOW-state”. In short, I felt it was great and saw a lot of new game-potentials for future collaborations. One game in particular caught my eye, “Planet of Lana”. Imagine a Hayao Miyazaki palette with a hand-painted old-school esthetic, with the gameplay of classic non-verbal adventure games like Another World mixed with Prince of Persia meeting Lilo and Stitch.
7. Interviewed by the fabulous Ginni Lou about my work on SFV!
8. Joined a podcast with Mekel Kasanova and I hope I’ll return!
9. My YouTube channel got a push over the 500 follower line and I hope I can get more interesting content onto my channel for next year.
For next year, my resolution are these:
Write more music
Get my body in shape
Get more sponsorships
Perform more
and....
PRODUCE an ARTIST!
Thank you and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
/Yours, sincerely
Daniel Lindholm
