human faces
All Meryl Stryfe wanted was a scoop. What she got was a situation.
This was to be expected when a rookie journalist was chasing after the story of the Silver Hurricane. Senior journalists hastily dodged any assignment related to the infamous catastrophic duo, citing family obligations or various other reasons to live. Rumor had it that other journalists who tried to track down the Silver Hurricane were the first to be killed in the aftermath of whatever devastation those demons inflicted–the dangers of trying to get too close for a good story.
Meryl scoffed loudly, which made Roberto raise his eyebrows.
“Think they’re cowards, newbie?” he asked. His voice was as flat as the desert terrain.
“Demons is a bit much, isn’t it?” Meryl said. “We’re not supposed to exaggerate, or use that kind of inflammatory language. Cheapens our journalistic integrity.”
Roberto grunted as he pulled his hip flask from his pocket. Meryl never figured out how there was still liquid in the little flask when he drank out of it every seven minutes (not that she kept track). Last she checked, he hadn’t snuck any liquor bottles into the back seat.
“If you think demons is an exaggeration,” Roberto had said, “you haven’t been paying attention to the stories.”
Meryl’s lips flattened petulantly. University had taught her an overwhelming checklist of best practices and model behavior for a recent graduate in the liberal arts, and being contrarian was one of them. But she hadn’t lived under a rock, either. The city of November had designated “Silver Hurricane drills” for as long as she remembered: city-wide protocol of how to seek shelter and lock down the Plants should the two mysterious and merciless–beings–descend upon them. Even she knew that the massive, metallic bunkers would stand no chance if the ghost stories of infinite knives slicing open Plant warehouses and reducing guards to pulp were true.
Sometimes, she questioned why of all the journalists at Bernadelli News Agency, she and Roberto did not refuse to the assignment. She still had the unshakable delusion of youth that she was invulnerable and tied to nothing to go chasing after a story. She didn’t know why Roberto never used the excuse of needing to get back home in time for dinner like everyone else of his level.
This was what brought them to a stretch of bleary deserts and pockets of small, rusting towns where rumors were as common as static noise–and Vash.
“Just Vash,” he said brightly in his introduction.
He was in an agreeable mood for someone whom Roberto and Meryl found dangling upside down with only decomposing bodies as company. Got caught in a bit of trouble, he said lightly when he reattached his prosthetic after giving Meryl one of the biggest shocks of her life. Let me treat you to a drink for your trouble–are you heading to Jeneora Rock too?
“We can’t drink on the job,” Meryl said sharply, more directed towards Roberto than Vash when she saw a hopeful gleam in Roberto’s eye. “But we can give you a ride if you’d like.”
“What? Really?” Vash exclaimed. His eyes widened behind his rosy glasses. “But I’m the one who should be giving you a ride for helping me out of a tight spot! I don’t have a driver’s license, but…”
“Might as well let him buy us a drink, rookie,” Roberto said under his breath amidst Vash’s stuttering. “Let the kid sleep easy tonight.”
They piled into the van, and as Meryl drove towards Jeneora Rock (“When you see the rock that looks a little like a gigantic Tomas egg, go northeast,” Vash piped up. “Then you’ll avoid the gigantic Worm carcass.”) she couldn’t help but take second and third glances at Vash through the rearview mirror. Not entirely because he was lovely to look at, but she could have sworn she recognized his face. Something about the birthmark just below the eye, maybe.
“Are you from around here?” she asked.
“I’ve been past here a couple of times,” Vash said easily, and without answering directly. “I’m glad that you’re coming through this area. It’s a good town, even if it’s small and quiet. And the people here are kind. They could use a couple of visitors.”
His smile softened as he watched the window for some heartwarming nostalgia somewhere among the scorching sand and bleached tomas bones. When he turned his head, that was when Meryl noticed it.
The rose gold sunglasses he wore added a perpetual blush to his face, and in particular to his eyes. Inside the shade of the car, away from the oppressive heat and glare of the noontime sun, she saw with piqued interest a glimpse of his eyes.
One eye–brilliant, carefree blue. The other eye was a shocking, smoky red.
Before Meryl could do a double-take, he turned his head and the golden glare of his sunglasses shielded him once more.
“What are you doing in Jeneora Rock, anyway?” Vash asked.
“We’re following a story!” Meryl said, always eager to share her work. “There are more and more cases of the Silver Hurricane, and the public need to know the truth behind them. If Roberto and I track them down, we can tell the true story–not just rumors! Oh, I’d love to get an exclusive interview–the human faces behind the Silver Hurricane!”
She glanced up at the rearview mirror with a hopeful expectation of his reaction. Much to her dismay and self-consciousness, Vash fell silent. The easy smile that he juggled during the whole drive unexpectedly faltered. Maybe it was Meryl’s imagination, but she swore that his red eye glinted.
“Human faces, huh?” he said lightly. “Sounds like you’ve got your work cut out for you.”

Till I See You Again
Possible Reader x Nai Millions Knives.
Trigun Stampede into Trimax
Warnings: This itself is Gender Neutral Reader, Isekai alternate to another Isekai Idea I have where Zazie takes Reader to Nai instead of letting them go. Hints of Yandere Nai, Reader Sings. Tesla research, angst over Morals. If I forget something please let me know. I do intend to build on this more. Reader has experiments done on them , reader has no reason to sing this song, they just do.
Song used: Till I See You Again by Unsecret
943 words Chapter excerpt:
“Why am I a stranger, Lost in the Familiar….will I ever know~”
It’s not like you had much to do. It’s not your fault you got Isekaied into Trigun. Why couldn’t you have fall into Vash’s arms? No you had to fall into the world literally, being caught by a whirlwind of Worms.
Other than the blood tests among other things Conrad had performed upon you. As there had to be a Scientific reason why you were dropped into the world from a world long gone. Something was wrong with your blood work however, you wouldn’t be considered a Viable option as a ideal human, an attempt to perfect the Human race so that they could live independently of Plants all together.
“Running with my eyes closed, hunted by the shadows will they ever go?”
Due to your knowledge you were too valuable to let go. No they needed you locked up, well to an extent. You were free to roam the Ship. As long as you stayed out of the way there was no need to impose most things.
You were in the area where they had collected Surviving books from the Great Fall. You would call it a Library. You gazed through book after book Piecing together how things were the way they were, what happened to earth as a whole.
“I’m afraid...that I’m miles away from yesterday and I’m alone…”
As you sung to yourself in a slow, soft, and haunting way. You would have never thought that there were anyone else around. Seeing picture of Earth, the continents. Historical events leading up to it’s collapse. It really made you wonder...did you actually watch an anime, or were you thrust into the future somehow?
But how….was that possible? How was any of this possible?
“Can’t you see I’m right here? Locked inside the Nightmare...Like a memory?”
You would move on from subject to subject. Eventually you landed on the books on Plants. But...it wasn’t just Plants. But Independent Plants in general. Then...you found documents on Tesla…you really didn’t think you were supposed to find those. The tests they did on her...you couldn’t help but cry at that. Because, of course Humans would destroy another being to attempt to understand them...They stored her dissected body parts separately...but why?
“Whispers in the silence, madness in disguises...like an enemy.~”
You felt sick. Closing the book, disgusted. The more you read, the more you understood Nai, where he came from. His thought processes.
But no. You couldn’t let yourself think like that. There HAD to be some good in Humanity. Vash was out there trying to prove it. Granted you haven’t met Vash. But you knew him from the shows, from the Manga...well maybe known was a loose term…like Vash...you just had to believe there was some good in Humanity...Not quite because Rem sacrificed herself to. It...was hard to explain...
“it’s a cold and lonely road but I’m gonna hold on…..Till I see you again~”
You didn’t place the books back, instead you walked off, heading back to your quarters. A room Similar to what Vash was in when he was taken in after The Fall. You were distracted, that you didn’t even notice that you passed up Nai on the way out.
Nai himself was distracted. His eyes narrowed and followed your form. For one so painfully ordinary, your voice was haunting and beautiful when he heard it. It wasn’t a voice or a Melody he expected to ever have come out of your mouth.
Slowly he walked over to look at the books you were looking at. Old books on Earth were to be expected? Plants were probable. He froze at Tesla’s experiments and documents. Other than the obvious as to why they were there, his eyes narrowed. He saw water droplets beside the papers.
Hesitantly, he reached down, touching the droplets, and he raised it up to his nose. Salt...tears? You would cry for his Sister?
Why was he drawn to you? A Mere human?
It’s a cold and lonely road but I gotta hold on...Till I see you again~
Your voice, it echoed in his head. Who exactly did you want to see again? A lover back on Old Earth? Well you had to get over that. You were most likely never going to see Earth ever again. Not that Nai would let you go.
What makes you want to hang onto whatever it was you were holding onto? Why were you stubborn like his brother. Even going as far as trying to escape the ship under his watch. Why? You weren’t a stupid Human, you had remnants of intelligence. You knew this planet wasn’t Earth. There were two suns, it was hotter than the climate back on Earth. You would get sick, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, hyperthermia, among other things. You weren’t meant for this planet.
If anything you should be grateful he’s protecting you from this.
Till I see you again~
Your voice echoed as an ear worm. Nai frowned, as he moved deciding to do the one thing he could do and control at this present time. He walked until his bare feet took him to his organ. Sitting down, his fingers flew against the keys gracefully.
Closing his eyes his fingers played the notes before he could even think of what he was doing.
But with your voice in his head, singing the song you did earlier, he was playing the organ along with your voice playing on repeat in his head.
However something was missing...Oh, the musical notes he played were perfect. Everything Nai did was perfect. But still something was missing
He needed you.

Dear My Brain, I do NOT need to do another massive Trigun AU right now. However, just to make you happy, I'll toss out my ideas here for "maybe someday." Okay, I'm on a Fallout-kick lately. Good show for my games, yes? A rare pretty decent live action adaptation of a set of video games. Definitely nods to fans / players there. Also been doing a little playing of Fallout 4. (Fallout 3 is the only game of the series I've played all the way through main quest sadly (maybe I'll download the classics from Steam...) Anyway, I've played with this notion for Trigun before - but only in the "if they were players." I made perks / gameplay styles for the main characters. So, what are you doing, brain? Why are you starting to come up with ideas for an actual story for me to write as a crossover?!!! Especially when I do not know if there are enough people who like both properties AND read fanfiction to be interested in a crossover AU / fusion fic - then again, I tend to write things primarily for my own delight, anyway. I was telling myself "no, these two things are already too similar, there's really no need," but then came the idea that "no, there are some things unique enough to the Fallout setting that you could really have fun with the Trigun characters wandering a post nuclear North America rather than Planet Gunsmoke / No Man's Land." I could even interchangeably refer to the Wasteland as No Man's Land... Okay, Brain, so you're telling me that in this fusion universe, Vault-Tec had a subsidiary that worked closely with the budding U.S. space program, which if I am not mistaken, is canon (that satellite-dish quest in Fallout 3 and that experimental for space-colonisation front Vault concealing the real experiment in the Nuka-World expansion for 4). SEEDS was sort of its own separate thing, more benevolent than the Vaults and free from their wild secret experiments. Their mission was open: Developing a new, yet profitable, source of power for the cooperate overlords to profit from, being a failsafe for re-terraforming the Earth in the event of a nuclear war, and being a study for close-quarter scientist-living for potential space colonies. SEEDS Vault 05 (as distinct from Vault 5, SEEDS gets a different class) saw the successful bioengineering of life forms they called Plants. They were actually developed shortly before the war of 2077, but were not considered perfected. After the bombs dropped and the doors sealed, further study showed the Plants' potential as essentially living G.E.C.Ks (Garden of Eden Creation Kits). A living answer to the G.E.C.K, water-chips, cold-fusion... Even a potential way to divest from the atomic energy that America had been depending on since the end of WWII. (Fallout, for non-players, is an AU of reality diverging at WWII's end). And then Independents are born. Rem Saverem, a rogue scientist who rebels against Vault-Tec's lack of ethics managed to smuggle out the first Independent. Poor Tesla, being a little girl she had to send out, but the Hell of the Wastes were literally a better shot for her survival than for her to stay in the SEEDS-Vault. Sometime later, a pair of twin boys are born and Rem manages to convince the crew not to make them into test subjects. Until she can't. Cue big escape scene where she gets Vash and Nai out of the vault and dies in a hail of bullets right before them as guards cut her down and come after them... And so starts the journey of pair of living McGuffins who can either save the world or destroy it in search of their lost sister. Nai eventually becomes Millions Knives, a brutal Wasteland warlord bent on the destruction of humankind. Vash is on the run with bounties upon bounties upon him. He meets a ghoul named Wolfwood, dependant upon a certain kind of Chem to heal his wounds and to keep him from going feral and a couple of reporter-ladies from one of the larger settlement-cities intent upon uncovering Wasteland mysteries.
#trigun#trigun maximum#trigun stampede#fallout#crossover#crossover fanfiction ideas#trigun fanfiction#fallout fanfiction#fusion fic#crossovers from hell#making vash a ghoul for long-livedness and scars would be too obvious#want to keep him a Plant#which would fit in very well with fallout's water purifying / terraforming / cold fusion / G.E.C.K. stuff#Vash definitely gets the bullet-riddled duster long-coat look though#probably raids an abandoned Western movie set

Obviously a bit of a late take, but Orange had the "Knives assimilated Tesla in his arm" idea since the beginning. Like promotional material got it in the bag that this freakshow of a family sticks together, even with the gratifying consequence of bringing knives to a gun fight.
Also, you can even see that Tesla has her eye trained on Knives (since her first appearance she always looks back to him in situations) and he does too (between Tesla and Vash - it's in the eyes - fear and kinship) as well as the obvious mental battle going on keeping Conrad alive for his knowledge on Plants (unethical knowledge obviously, but useful knowledge nonetheless).
And besides the bold concept, this wasn't only time Knives put an eye in his arm, it happened in TriMax too! (TrIMax ch. 38 spoilers below)
But while Knives hunted Conrad down for his (metaphorical) brain w. Tesla's memories, the Last Run scene was also his breaking point with a few key difference: -The July engineers only put one Plant through a Last Run and the city was already heavily populated. -Conrad (the already bald guy) already knew the dangers he was getting himself into helping Knives. He also didn't know that Tesla was merged but he saw the murder in Knives' eyes while living a cushy life atop of subjugating the Dependents. -And after the Run was said and done, Conrad still begs Knives to forgive humanity as a whole. And this is what happens when Vash doesn't step in out of plot convenience...
And I need to remind you that this is what Tesla is capable of with Knives' help.
A million (mile-long) knives slicing through metal and heads like it's nothing and rightfully putting the fear of God in all of July. And after Knives uses up his energy and gets a sick stripe in his hair, Conrad tells him that overexterting a Plant's energy will turn their hair dark and eventually die themselves. Conrad even hopes to join Knives to help him learn more about how to control his powers (and rightfully trying to save his own ass).
Knives didn't care about that. He only asked Elendira (TriMax Girl Boss) if Vash's hair got darker. And when he got the answer he didn't want:
Conrad shish kabob!
But Knives, the loose cannon Plant that he is, cares more about the safety of his species and Vash than his own health. I know that TriStamp has plenty of things to fill in Season 2, but Knives knew to never leave family behind; even if it means turning his body into a monster of his own design.
#trigun#trigun stampede#trigun manga#trigun maximum#trigun knives#trigun tesla#william conrad#Yeah yeah TriStamp's the prequel but the contrasts are brutal#Girlboss Tesla/Elendira *need* to come back full swing

i care about trigun a lot
There was a request for my thoughts on Trigun, so sure, let's do this.
Friends I fucking love Trigun.
I think way way way way more people are familiar with the Trigun anime over the manga. And while I think the anime is a fine adaption and I have a soft spot for it cuz I sure did watch it over and over as a child, you kinda need to forget about it while I talk about the Trigun manga, because the anime was adapted fairly early in the manga and thus completely missed the main narrative threads that make me love Trigun so damn much.
Also I can't talk about any of it without spoilers so uh. If you just want to go read the manga without me spoiling it, go for it. But stop reading now cuz we're gonna talk about Vash, Knives, Wolfwood, their motivations and overarching stories.
Also I haven't reread Trigun in about five years so some of my opinions may be different if I had, but I HAVE read it like seven times so I feel pretty comfortable talking from memory here.
CUT FOR HELLA LONG:
So basically. Here is the thing.
Here is what you need to understand.
Vash and Knives are twin brothers who are Plants. Plants are super powerful batteries of basically nuclear energy that humanity literally created to power their civilization. Only they are a living, sapient, hive minded, naturally highly empathic race. Plants can FEEL THE EMOTIONS OF HUMANS AND OTHER PLANTS and share those feelings across a network. Their entire species was created expressly for the purpose of being used up and eventually dying inside of a glass ball that they never leave, because humanity uses them to generate power until they die.
(Also with the exception of Knives and Vash, basically all Plants are female because lol sexism, anyway.)
Plants look like this.
Knives and Vash are Two Anomalies who were born onto a generation space ship with the ability to basically look like humans and survive outside of the little glass balls plants are usually kept in. They are both geniuses who are taking college level science classes after being alive for like a year. They are pure and love the human who found them, the ever unforgettable Rem.
One day they find out that they had an older sister, Tesla (GOD I JUST. GOT THAT... ), who was found by some OTHER humans. Those humans cut her open and experimented on her until she died and then stuck her in a test tube because as scientists, their response to a species humanity had created abruptly evolving to be more human was "SHIT, weird! Better rip her open and see if we can figure out what's going on with the plants".
Oh also, Rem was around for that?? She didn't like it but you know, Tesla still was subjected to inhuman experiments for a year until she died. lol!
So the very first time Vash and Knives have an opportunity to meet anyone Like Them it's by finding her dismembered corpse in a tube and learning that their mother figure had not STOPPED the horrible treatment of her, and that she died horribly. And oh, they're now about the same age Tesla was when she croaked so really, ideal for renewing experiments!
Anyway, the reason I say you gotta abandon the anime for this is because none of this is in the anime. In the anime Knives is a born sociopath who believes plants are inherently better than humans and it only makes sense to exterminate humanity, creatures without any value, who are using plants for batteries. Kill the spider to save the butterfly.
In manga, Knives and Vash are both deeply empathic genius children who all at once suffered a massive trauma of realizing their place in a universe dominated by humanity. An entire species which created THEIR entire species expressly to power their civilization. Whose response to those creatures evolving to become more like them, to be able to express themselves in a way humans can understand, is to cut them open again and again and again until they die.
Vash is actually the one so angry and afraid that he stabs and nearly kills Rem. Knives goes into a feelings coma. Vash regrets his actions and saves Rem's life, and listens to her sincere apologies and advice on how to navigate an uncertain and unfair universe. Knives pretends to have forgotten the whole thing.
So, Vash's response to the trauma was to immediately try to kill the most immediate threat, then realizes that felt really fucking bad.
Knives' response is to plan out a way to systematically wipe out every human (and admittedly, a lot of plants) who frightens him. So he crashes the generation ships into a barren planet unable to support human life. Tens of millions die.
The ones who live do so because they have plants. Plants that fell off the ship become oases of life on a planet that otherwise doesn't have water, flora, or much natural wildlife. The plants can power devices that will produce water, food, light, communications. The bare essentials needed for humans to simply hang on until, hopefully, humans from some other corner of the galaxy arrive and rescue them.
So this is the situation in which Knives and Vash wage the battle that is the Trigun and Trigun Maximum manga. Humanity will straight up completely die without plants, but plants will and are straight up completely dying by having their lives used as batteries to support humanity. Knives wants to save his own kind and has no sympathy for a species that can only live via consuming what he loves, and Vash values humanity to a straight up cripplingly unhealthy extent, unable to sacrifice a even a single human life because he's emotionally tied the lives of all humanity to the death of his surrogate mother. But in doing so, he passively enables and supports the deaths and sacrifices of all plants, including himself, including his brother.
Knives fucking loves Vash, and is sincerely distressed by the fact that, as the manga progresses, Vash is dying. He's reaching the end of his life as all plants eventually do, having expended his massive amounts of power to help humans survive. During a conflict where Vash shows up to stop Knives from killing people, Knives screams at him to stop using his power, and when Vash won't, tries to incorporate him into Knives' self so that he won't fucking die.
Knives also grows.
He admits that when was literally one year old he did something pretty rash in crashing the generation ships, as it costed the lives of many of his siblings. Throughout the rest of the manga he's older and really only has fucks to give for plants.
He kills millions more humans, but he doesn't wage war on them, he just shows up in their towns, liberates his sisters, and ollies.
Humans then begin to die, starving, withering, turning to cannibalism in an environment they are not able to survive unless they're leeching off the life of someone else.
The final last stand of the manga isn't 'Knives is here and is going to shoot all the humans and take the plants' it's 'Knives is here and is gonna take the plants and go'.
Charmingly, when all of what is left of humanity looks up and tries to shoot at the looming space ship of plant bodies, their bullets fall back down and injure themselves.
Told from a different perspective, Knives could easily be the hero of the manga. Which to me is one of my favorite types of villain. An easy way to turn it on it's head would be 'What if humans were the ones living and dying in glass bulbs, their personhood, suffering, agency never acknowledged, held captive by a species of inhuman beings that only view them as sources of power, and--' OH WAIT, THAT'S THE PLOT OF THE MATRIX. LOL.
So both Vash and Knives have completely understandable motivations, and in fact are both causing great harm in response to great harm. They both choose the side they empathize with more, and view the losses incurred by Not Their Side of Choice as acceptable sacrifices. Vash may FEEL WORSE about it than Knives does, but make no mistake. Most of humanity doesn't even realize plants have feelings. Vash not only knows but makes no effort to tell them. He looks at the situation and decides to sacrifice the small numbers of his own species remaining to forestall the deaths of the rest of humanity. Because Rem loved humans, and she died because of plants.
Vash and Knives are also both crazy as fuck.
And people know that about Knives because he's The Villain but since Vash's insanity tends to appear in ways that are empathic and caring, it's easy to write him off as just Too Good For This World.
But the level of power that Knives and Vash possess is, to a human perspective, basically divine. The pain Vash can endure, the forgiveness he can express, is inhuman. It is Unsubtly Godly.
Here is another thing about the manga I like that the anime doesn't really express.
In both iterations, Wolfwood dies because he tries to Be Like Vash. In the anime, Vash has a moment of Bitter Humanity and angrily doesn't realize what has happened. He lets Wolfwood die alone.
In the manga, Vash is fully aware that Wolfwood has chosen to sacrifice his life to save someone else, and Vash can't stop him because this is in fact what Vash believes in. He can be miserable about it but he can only support it, because for the first time throughout their entire caustic friendship, Wolfwood has fully admitted Vash has changed him, that he wants to save a life no matter the risks, no matter how much lethal force may be deserved. He will dedicate every ounce of his considerable strength to saving the soul of an unfeeling murderer who has taken hundreds of lives.
Humans can't live like Vash does, and the attempt to do so regularly kills them. It doesn't invalidate their choices by any means. Wolfwood's death in the manga can fuck me up with a single panel to this day. But humans who try to live Vash's way of life have a way of ending up dead.
What I like about the Trigun manga is that it asks you to empathize with and pity Vash, to celebrate his triumphs, to love him. But it doesn't really ask you to be like him. Or at least it acknowledges that if you choose to do so, it comes with a heavy price. You can't save everyone with love and peace, but there may be something admirable in trying.
#op me#media musings#trigun#trigun maximum#manga recs#i think the trigun manga is#unfortunately really underestimated#due to how the popularity of the anime basically eclipsed it#but it's one of my favorite manga of all time#i think it was granted an additional strength to me#because coming off of the anime#i was really amazed and excited to find that knives had an understandable perspective#and is more than just#the brother that vash loved and couldn't save

5 Awful Stocks Robinhood Investors Are Buying
No matter the length of time you have actually been a financier, there’s just absolutely nothing that could have prepared you for what 2020 has actually offered so far. In a roughly four-month period, investors have dealt with about a decade’s worth of volatility due to the unprecedented coronavirus illness 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Obviously, periods of panic and increased volatility have usually served long-lasting financiers well That’s since every stock exchange correction in history (save for the existing correction) has eventually been eliminated by a booming market rally. Purchasing fantastic stocks and hanging onto them for an extended period of time is a strategy with a high success rate.
Nevertheless, panic and volatility can have unfavorable repercussions, too. Online financial investment platform Robinhood, which has been specifically successful in courting younger/millennial financiers with the lure of commission-free trades and the gift of totally free stock when you open an account, is one such circumstances of the dangers that can develop throughout periods of increased volatility.
While some of its members have a long-lasting frame of mind, the normal “Robinhood financier” is a short-term trader who’s typically going after today’s most popular stocks. Given that forecasting short-term motions can’t be finished with any accuracy, it’s a harmful video game for young investors to be playing.
Most Awful of all, a few of the most popular stocks on the Robinhood platform are absolutely awful companies. Here are 5 such stocks that retail investors obviously like, however which you need to prevent like the pester.
The Nikola Badger electric truck. Image source: Nikola.
Nikola
Being completely truthful, the whole electrical vehicle (EV) industry, consisting of NIO( NYSE: NIO), Tesla( NASDAQ: TSLA), Workhorse Group, and Tortoise Acquisition, look to be in one massive retail trader-fueled bubble. none is priced more out of whack than Nikola( NASDAQ: NKLA)
Short-term traders have watched Tesla and NIO defy gravity for weeks, and they just figure that Nikola and its $20 billion market cap can do the exact same. Nikola did unveil its Badger EV truck, and preliminary deposit need following that unveil was presumed to be strong.
But there’s an issue here: Nikola hasn’t offered a single EV or fuel-cell lorry … ever
The company hopes to begin production of the Badger next year, however it’s a genuine certainly that snags and difficulties will arise.

Aurora Cannabis
Millennial-favorite cannabis stock Aurora Marijuana( NYSE: ACB) is another one of those head-scratcher investments. While marijuana stocks have basically all carried out inadequately given that the end of the very first quarter of 2019, Aurora has actually been especially terrible, with its share cost down around 90%over the routing 16- month duration.
At one time, Aurora was expected to lead the world in cannabis output, and it had access to 2 lots markets outside of Canada. This recommended that it would use economies-of-scale to produce really inexpensive, premium weed, and have the ability to export a considerable amount of this cannabis to medical marijuana-legal foreign markets. Sadly, regulatory-based supply issues have actually resulted in traffic jams in Canada, and really couple of overseas markets are accepting marijuana imports. As a result, Aurora has actually shuttered 5 production centers, stopped building and construction on two others, and offered a 1-million-square-foot greenhouse.
However the genuine disaster here is the company’s balance sheet

American Airlines
Robinhood financiers have actually also been obsessed with brand-name stocks as COVID-19 rebound candidates.
Although American Airlines had the ability to secure bailout funds from the federal government tied to the coronavirus pandemic, there’s little argument that it’s the worst-of-breed among significant airlines Since its latest quarterly filing, it had near $3.6 billion in cash and money equivalents, however was sporting an unpleasant $341 billion in total debt. Mind you, this does not consist of a $ 3.5 billion bond offering hung in late June that bore a 12%– yes, 12%— rate of interest. With borrowing rates near record lows, this rate alone informs you everything you need to learn about the risk connected to American Airlines’ company design.
It’s likewise unclear when, exactly, things will return to typical for the airlines. It could take years before capability go back to levels seen in2019 That’s worrisome for shareholders, since American was needed to halt share buybacks and its dividend as conditions of getting financial help tied to COVID-19 There’s actually no longer a practical reason to own any significant U.S. airline company stock, not to mention the one with the worst balance sheet.

Callon Petroleum
Robinhood financiers have actually also been fascinated with trying to capture falling knives in the oil and gas market.
In July 2019, Callon announced that it would acquire Carrizo Oil & Gas in an all-stock deal for a $3.2 billion price tag, more than half of which was tied to the presumption of Carrizo’s debt.
As of its most current quarter, Callon Petroleum had almost $3.3 billion in financial obligation (most of which is due in 2023 or later on) and just $148 million in money and cash equivalents. And, to make matters worse, Callon’s lender’s lowered its readily available line from $2 billion to $1.7 billion, with $1.

Hertz
Finally– and possibly the most complicated investment of the group– Robinhood financiers have stacked into rental cars and truck giant Hertz( NYSE: HTZ) As a pointer, Hertz stated Chapter 11 personal bankruptcy on May 22, however has actually seen the variety of Robinhood accounts holding its stock take off from around 44,000 to almost 148,000 considering that the announcement.
Though there has actually been some speculation that Hertz would provide common stock during its insolvency proceedings (a move that the business has actually now recanted), and that an outside party might be interested in acquiring some or all of its possessions, the reality stays that Hertz is insolvent.
And if you don’t think me, take it straight from the horse’s mouth. Prior to Hertz shelved its share offering, a filing from the business with the Securities and Exchange Commission had this to say:
We also anticipate our stockholders’ equity to reduce as we utilize money on hand to support our operations in insolvency. Consequently, there is a considerable threat that the holders of our common stock, consisting of buyers in this offering, will get no healing under the Chapter 11 Cases and that our common stock will be useless.
Prevent Hertz, and every other stock on this list, like the afflict.

More insanity! - Tesla, Vash and Nai are still Plants, not humans. They were born from the experimental power source / bioreactors that Rem works with at her green energy biotech company. (Was originally going to make them regular humans and Rem and Alex's godchildren inherited after their best friends died in a plane crash, but nah, they should be Plants). - Despite being Plants, in Modern Earth AU, they have normal childhood spans. None of this growing up to 10 year old child in the span of a year nonsense. They all get to be kids! - Rem's fake ID comes from her days as an activist (they never ended, really). She's been to a lot of anti-war protests and anti corporate protests (for big polluters, etc.) She's been arrested twice, although no charges were ever filed. She has the fake ID in case she needs to pack up the kids and flee the state / country... - Alex first fell in love with Rem when she pepper-sprayed a cop at a protest. It's a miracle that no charges were filed, probably because she claimed the cop groped her or something / said individual cop was on thin ice with the local force for brutality charges to begin with. - Rem is also a hacker. It is her hobby to mess up the stocks of unethical corporations. - Nai is fiercely protective of his siblings. He is protective of Vash because Vash is the younger by a few minutes twin and also soft-hearted and sensitive. Nai also acts like an "older brother" to the older Tesla because... - Tesla is a childhood cancer survivor. The family remembers, with great trauma, all her time in the hospital, all the times when it was touch and go. This all in addition to some of Rem's colleagues viewing her as a specimen rather than a person before Rem was able to fight the legal system to adopt her. - Steve is the obnoxious drunken uncle that everybody hates. They have to put up with him during holiday extended family functions. Nai and Vash once learned to create fireworks from scratch SOLELY to create fireworks that, when lit, spelled out "Steve Sucks!" in the sky. That was a memorable 4th of July / New Year's Eve / Chinese New Year / Birthday / Whatever was celebrated we haven't decided yet. - Another uncle, upon getting a Nai Patentented Diss Song wrote in his will that Nai is to do his eulogy at his eventual funeral. He is not to hold back. This uncle is Roberto, who found the Diss Song funny. - When Nai hit hit around age 13, he entered an "edgy" phase. He insisted upon being called Millions Knives. Uncle Roberto calls him Hundreds Spoons to annoy him. - We do not know how these uncles are related yet - if they're Rem's side of the family or Alex's. They just mysteriously exist. - At age 17 Nai and Vash were in a horrible car accident. Nai was driving - recklessly. They were late to a party or maybe in getting Vash to his part time job (Vash can't pass the driver's exam, he sucks at it). Nai hit something and rolled the car. He got out if it with a few bumps, bruises and scratches. Vash's left arm was sheared clean off. You'd better believe there is guilt. - Everyone in their high school and subsequent college thought that Vash was a complete slut. He flirts easily and dates often. However, Vash is actually romantic aspec - asexual or demi. He's never found "the one" that he'd be willing to do anything sexual with. Nai constantly defends him against accusations of sluttiness from judgemental jerks.

In a modern AU, since there are no SEEDS ships to crash but certain humans are still horrible, this is how Nai gets his revenge. The Gung-Ho Guns, Vash, WW, Tesla, Meryl, Milly & Rem enthusiastically support Knives's song-writing skills.
So far he has written diss songs for:
Steve
Conrad
Wolfwood
Wolfwood's dad (after they got to know each other better)
Meryl (unstoppable force vs immovable object, it went abt as well as you'd expect it to)
The classmate who took his seat without his permission
The neighbor who lets his dog poop in Rem's garden
The teacher who keeps forcing him to do group work with the (2) students who'll only have their names in the credits
The karen who spread rumours about Rem because she was jealous of her
Anyone who breathes wrong in Tesla's direction
Vash's exes
Roderick
Did I mention Steve?
