In addition to building steam engines on Minecraft, I'm also going to build diesels, electrics, and various rolling stock. For my first diesel, I've decided to build an EMD F45 in the Great Northern's Big Sky Blue livery. This was modified from CraftyFoxe's Montana Rail Link F45 so credit to him.

Big green cowl on a drab winter day by Mike Danneman Via Flickr: Burlington Northern EMD F45 No. 6613 sits on the wye at the locomotive facility at Chicago & North Western’s yard in Butler, Wisconsin, on a somber winter day in January 1984. This locomotive was Great Northern No. 440, the railroad’s last F45, that later went to Morrison-Knudsen/Utah Railway.

Changing of the blue guard
flickr
Changing of the blue guard por Mike Danneman Por Flickr: Montana Rail Link EMD F45 No. 392 faces brand new EMD SD70ACe No. 4300 at the railroad’s locomotive facility at Helena, Montana, on October 8, 2005. MRL No. 4300 is only a month old, and F45 No. 392 will be taken out of service permanently the following year, so the period of time where both of these locomotives operated together was very brief!

MIRROR IMAGE by Roger Bee Via Flickr: Not a whisper of a breeze is to be heard on this 06-01-1997 early morning except for the sound of EMD’s rolling down the Mississippi River. A BN loaded grain extra is in good hands headed by a Montana Rail Link F45 just south of Genoa, Wisconsin. MRL 390 was built for the Burlington Northern in 1971 as their 6640, then sold to the New York Susquehanna & Western, then acquired by MRL. Founded in 1987 the MRL will conclude its long-term lease with the BNSF Railway early in 2024.
