Development Project 1: Week 4 blog 1;
Reimagining the project After the review, I started looking into different references to get an idea of how I want to approach this project. That is when I stumbled on this artwork by Runé Roux. And It was quite unique because until now all the visualizations for hoverbikes that I was getting were disproportionality towards the sports bike/racing side of the spectrum. But her render visualized this entire concept of hoverbike with a cruiser-style look. I already have a soft spot for cruiser bikes because of how royal they look. They look more classy compared to normal sports bike and thus I started looking for similar references.

I started looking at different references and ideas. Different ways to integrate this new concept on my already half-made engine. I started blocking out the model. I found some interesting puzzle-like fittings to work with, like the exhaust chamber fitting perfectly with the read mudguard.

Biscuit Talks About E3 2019
With E3 2019 come and gone, I wanted to talk about the stuff that got me excited from this year’s E3 talking about what we can expect this year and next year.
This year surprisingly is pretty bare bones, at least for me personally. There’s only a few games for 2018 that I’m like 100% looking forward to. With that, let’s talk about the games from E3 2019 that caught my attention:
Cadence of Hyrule: This game came out during E3 week and although I don’t have it yet, I will be getting this game soon. This is perhaps the one game that has my overall general curiosity. A Zelda game fused as a rhythm game, at least that's what it looks like with some of the gameplay I’ve seen from it. Also it’s Nintendo giving the Zelda IP to an indie company, which is something that I do want to support as maybe this will have companies give other indie studios a chance at their IP to see what can happen.
Animal Crossing: I will admit, I am not a big fan of Animal Crossing, but I’m excited because the fans are excited and I’m also proud of Nintendo for delaying this game to focus on the health of the developers, rather than try to push their employees to meet demand. This should be further encouraged for other developers. As for the stock holders reacting negatively to this, fuck you guys, you’re part of the problem!
Fire Emblem Three Houses: Fire Emblem for Switch, all I need and from how they expanded on how armies look like armies, it’s kind of cool.
Breath of the Wild 2: Did not see that coming. Here’s looking at you 2022.
Smash DLC Fighters: “OH MY GOD, THEY DID IT, BANJO IN SMASH, BANJO IS GOING TO BE IN SMASH.” Was exactly what I did in my office as I was watching Nintendo’s E3 direct...yeah.
Pokemon Sword and Shield: I don’t know guys, I’m just not feeling this one. Maybe because Sun and Moon burned me pretty badly.
Watch Dogs Legion: I can play as an old lady. That sounds like an interesting concept, but will probably be under utilized like a lot of other cool sounding ideas Ubisoft does. Don’t get me wrong, Ubisoft makes solid games and they have some really good ideas, but sometimes they tend to undershoot things that have great potential.
Ubisoft conference: LOOK AT ALL THE TOM CLANCY GAMES! Oh, here’s some updates to all our live services games as well and a TV show! Look a puppy!
EA Conference: Huh, that Star Wars game actually looks cool.
Cyberpunk 2077: “Oh yeah, new trailer - HOLY SHIT KEANU REEVES! IT’S FUCKING KEANU REEVES. KEANU REEVES IN CYBERPUNK.” Which is exactly what the internet did for 3 whole days.
12 Minutes: A game about a man trapped in a time loop, that was all I needed to be sold on this game. I am a sucker for stories that involve time travel in some form. Traveling to the future, traveling to the past, getting stuck in time loops. I guess it’s just the idea of a person learning about events or experiencing things from another era first hand is what attracts me to these stories.
Gears 5: My wife: Is that Billie Ellish playing?
Me: Huh, sure is. Looks like Gears 5 is going back to being dark and creepy. Nice.
Halo Infinite: Again, not really feeling this one, Halo 4 and Halo 5 have just been weird. Halo 4 had an excellent campaign but not so great multiplayer. Halo 5 has a terrible campaign and some pretty good multiplayer. Who knows, third times a charm afterall.
Bethesda: I felt bad that they turned my wife’s childhood game series into a mobile game. Also, the internet proceeded to adopt Ghostwire Tokyo’s Creative Director Ikumi Nakamura.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake: That looks pretty cool actually. Still disappointed that Square is chopping it up into a multi-part game, but it looks awesome. I’m impressed.
Avengers: Everybody looks...off. Gameplay looks fun though.
Final Fantasy 8 Remaster: HOLY FUCK, SQUARE DID WHAT!?!?! Out of all the games I’m looking forward to the most for 2019, it’s this one!
Kingdom Hearts III DLC: ...why?! I get it, basically bringing Final Mix to Kingdom Hearts III, but WHY?! Usually Final Mix adds stuff to expand the story. This DLC looks like it’s putting in story elements that should have been in the game already! Like with Final Fantasy XV. Also this DLC will supposedly have Final Fantasy characters. Something that should have been in the main release already, not sold to us as DLC!
Also, is it just me or does 2020, especially the first four months of 2020, look to be a really busy time for video games. Like seriously devs and companies, why did you all do this? Spread it out through 2020, don’t jam pack it all in the same time frame. I get it, next gen is coming and is starting at the end of 2020, but really, there’s too many games in these first few months. Let’s have some delays or something!
That was just the announcements made around E3, there’s no telling what Sony has planned for 2020 or even this year. Last of Us II already has a rumored release window of February 2020, which again is competing in an already heavy 2020 timeframe. I seriously hope that some of these titles do get delayed as it could be a really tough time for heavy hitting titles competing against one another.

You know what sucks? Bad things. But to help you out, Dan and Ben are here to tell you the worst game endings there ever was. They also look into some of the rumours heading in to e3 2019, other game news and is there a future for retro gaming?

EA at E3
This one is a little late, because I kinda forgot EA existed but here we are. Basically their big announcement was Jedi Order, with Battlefield 5 and Apex Season 2, but I’m mostly looking forward to more Sims 4 stuff and their indie projects, like Lost in Random. Jedi Order does look promising though, and it looks like it’s been influenced a little bit by Bloodborne, which is always good. Everything else was kind of samey though... Money is money I guess¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -Mod Nutella

Nintendo E3 2019 Thoughts  Part 1The Direct
ce Okay so with yesterday behind us I felt I might as well offer my own opinions on the main event of the day the Nintendo Direct.
To start off I like how rapid fire a lot of Nintendo’s Directs have become. While it’s not as flashy as a full blown conference it pretty much cuts out most of the padding and helps make things arguably more focused. I wasn’t expecting them to cram so much in within 40 minutes and I admit I thought at times they would do a Smash Ultimate and spend a bunch of time on one title which of course never happened now then onto the games themselves
Dragon Quest Hero or should I say Dragon Quest Gang for Smash. Pretty much something most of us expected. Personally I have nothing against Erdrick and Pals and it was inevtiable really that we got Dragon Quest representation in Smash considering how in Japan DQ is pretty much on the same level as Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Minecraft here in the States. As easy as it is to complain about more anime sword boys when you look at it DQ was pretty much one of our only options for an additional SE rep considering how stingy SE is with Final Fantasy as well as the fact that Sora is pretty much a massive legal minefield for obvious reasons. I kinda find it clever really that rather than just represent 1 game they instead use the Hero as a means to represent the entire Dragon Quest series as whole.
Following that up fittingly is another trailer for Dragon Quest 11
Doug Bowser makes his E3/Direct debut and already the memes are out in full force
H̶o̶t̶e̶l̶ ̶M̶a̶r̶i̶o̶ ̶2̶/Luigis Mansion 3 is looking great. Seriously I just love how clean everything looks. It’s almost like the Luigis Mansion Dark Moon Artwork come to life/ Too bad we didn’t an actual release date but really for a game like this I would be surprised if they don’t go for  an October release.
A Dark Crystal Game That was unexpected
Link’s Awakening now with Dungeon Maker. Seriously I can’t help but keep imagining a Zelda spinoff that’s basically a Zelda themed Dungeon Keeper
Trials of Mana and Collection of Mana Not exactly my cup of tea but it’s cool seeing The Mana Collection available on Switch right away
Witcher III for Switch. Another rumor that  turned out true. Bring on all the oerformance jokes and PC master race trolls. Panic Button doesn’t appear to be handling this one but I can’t help but wonder what sorcery they used to get this game running on Switch
Fire Emblem Three Houses Not really big on FE myself. I get why some people are complaining they basically spoiled the big twist but I figure that Nintendo may have did it on purpose to show fans that it’s not just Harry Potter with a Fire Emblem Skin
More Resident Evil love for Switch which is nice although I can’t help but wonder why they chose a port of RE6 over the remake of RE2
No More Heroes III another bit of a surprise. I admit for a second I thought I was looking at some new Power Rangers mech game. Great to see after Travis Strikes Again
That new Contra game looks eggghhhh but its cool we are getting the Contra collection too
Daemon x Machina. I actually did get some enjoyment out of the demo and what I saw with the mech customization looks interesting but I seriously hope they fixed the framerate in the final release.
Panzer Dragoon Another one that came out of nowhere. Switch has been seeing quite the amount of Sega love. Now if only we could get a Sega Ages port of Daytona USA
Pokemon Sword and Shield get a brief shoutout. Figured they wouldn’t spend too much time on it considering how it just got a direct last week. And like that the R34 crowd has already abandoned Sonia for Nessa go figure.
Astral Chain got a new trailer. Pretty interesting game and no doubt it will probably have an insanely over the top final boss as with fine Platinum tradition
Empire of Sin pretty interesting management/strategy game looks like it might be worth a shot when it comes out.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Not a big Marvel person but personally I think its a bit funny really that UA3 has better models than the SE Avengers game.
Cadence of Hyrule Finally have a release date and its right at the end of E3 which is cool
Mario and Sonic at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Figured they would give a shoutout to this game.  Eggman looks surprisingly hot in shorts.  Why is nobody talking about the majesty of Barefoot Wario?
Animal Crossing New Horizons Finally the game pretty much everybody was waiting for. So it would appear Animal Crossing has now transformed into Minecraft. Jokes aside I can’t help but love the idea that you are pretty much now building the town yourself and populating the island from scratch. Okay actual path creation tools and the ability to place furniture outside this is too much. It’s kind of a bummer the game won’t be out till next March but its understandable really considering how packed Switches release schedule looks for the rest of 2019.  Also Tom Nook being a greedy little shit as usual and where is Isabelle please don’t tell me Nintendo you forgot our precious doggo girl.
The obligatory switch game/port sizzle reel. Nice recap of things to come. Another MS game confirmed with Super Lucky’s Tale. Also the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has finally been confirmed for Switch and PC which is great.  Alien Isolation? didn’t expect to see that game get ported. Still no release date for A Hat in Time Switch though
Now for what is arguably the two biggest bombshells to come out of this presentation
First off, Banjo Kazooie in Smash. I cannot freaking believe it a character where the Grinch Leak actually ended up turning out to be right!!! I admit even I had my doubts that we would actually see this come to fruition since I never thought MS would be that chill about letting Banjo show up in a game hosted by one of their own competitors. Of course competitor may not be the right word here considering how surprisingly chummy MS and Nintendo have gotten with each other as of late. I can’t help but find a sense of inner happiness and satisfaction when my own theories and hunches end up being proven correct. I just knew there had to be a reason why Blast Corps and Jet Force Gemini spirits were found in the game files for Smash Ultimate never mind the fact that MS in their E3 schedule clearly suggested we should watch Nintendo’s own E3 presentation. I admit when I first saw that Jiggy bounce by I kinda started to lose my collective shit. The whole reveal was just so brilliant from the way they basically parodied their own trailer to how happy the DK crew was to see Banjo again. Its almost like Sakurai and Nintendo were reading everyone’s mind. I am really liking Banjo’s Smash design and how they basically went for more updated version of his classic look rather than just settle for the Nuts and Bolts design. A perfect way really to drive home the point that Banjo has pretty much come home. And I cannot believe it they actually got Grant Kirkhope himself on board to compose new music for Smash. I admit I am loving that Spiral Mountain remix and you can even make out bits and pieces from other Banjo levels too. I can’t wait to hear what else there is with Banjo. While I am mainly a Nintendo person I would just like to give thanks to Phil Spencer for helping make so many Nintendo and Smash fans wildest dreams finally come true. Now perhaps see if you get the original Banjo games as well as maybe a Nintendofied version of Rare Replay perhaps on Switch
And finally capping off the direct was the reveal that an actual follow up to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is now in development. When we will see this title in full I am not sure but the brief teaser looks like they are hinting that Ganondorf himself could be back from the grave. Now I am hearing how the devs say they were inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2 does that mean more detailed horse mechanics?
All in all I would rate Nintendo’s E3 Direct an 8/out of 10. A few points were docked from the Animal Crossing delay but there was still a lot of games that I am interested in due out in the near future as well as some wonderful surprises to boot. I would personally say Nintendo was probably the best part of E3 this year and they made me a very happy gamer

the beautiful person's journal - #7: the pre-2016 side shows
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"[In the Cartoon Network series Chowder] The No-fruit looks like a block of tofu with two green leaves on top. Once a leaf is plucked off of the No-fruit, it rapidly transforms into a wide variety of different fruits, and will halt when the fruit is struck with a blunt object."
you might be wondering why i'm talking about chowder. well, the concept of the no-fruit ties into what i'm discussing today!
so once upon a time in caddicarus history, the caddicarus show wasn't the only show offered on the channel.
before the initial side-show culling of 2016, there was a whole group of other shows on the channel that would circulate along with the caddicarus show on sundays. you never knew just what you'd get on sunday; you could get a caddicarus episode, a tinker time, or a current quickie. this is why i called the 2012-16 schedule the "no-fruit" schedule. caddy would pluck a metaphorical leaf off his channel every week, and he'd have to strike it with a bat to see what he'd be releasing that sunday.
a couple of these side shows only lasted an episode or two, others went on for years. a couple were actually launched after the 2016 rebrand and lasted just before the great retooling of 2020. some actually had some elements that were integrated into the caddicarus show!
in order, these side shows were top 10's/20's, today's special, caddy's retrospectives, current quickies, tinker time, hands-on preview (H.O.P), drive thru reviews, film fridays/cinemaggots, and the caddy show. but for this entry, we're gonna be discussing the side shows up to drive thru reviews. in the next entry, we'll talk about the side shows that came along after the 2016 rebranding. there's only a few, but i can talk about those a little bit more in-depth.
there's another side show that came out between DTR and film fridays, but i'll get to that one in another entry someday, trust me...
top 10's/20's! (july 15th 2012 - october 30th 2016 as a separate series)
pretty self-explanatory - they're top 10/20 lists! even though they use the caddicarus show's intro, this was treated as a separate series until 2017. before the 2016 rebrand, list videos used a different background for the thumbnails than the one used for the caddicarus show...
Tumblr media
by 2016, the show began using the caddicarus show's thumbnail background, but it was still considered a separate series.
that was until january 2017, when in the middle of the winter break between cadvent and the season 8 premiere, all of the list videos - except for the E3 2014 top 20 - were moved into the caddicarus show playlist. the block that came out of hiding from 2013 and the two mr. youtube episodes were also no longer considered canon caddicarus episodes, and those along with the E3 top 20 were moved to the "other rubbish" playlist.
after the list videos were integrated, this brought the caddicarus show's episode count to 100...which also meant that the bubsy 3D episode was no longer the 50th episode. and i spent weeks waiting for that 50th episode...
from seasons 8 to 10, top 10 lists just became "ten lists" - lists of things that weren't in any particular order. in 2019, when most caddicarus episode titles were changed to suit the algorithm, these ten lists were changed to say "top 10", even though they technically weren't top 10 lists.
my favorite list episodes were top 10 things in video games that scared me as a kid and 10 traumatic kids' TV moments.
today's special! (october 14th, 2012)
Tumblr media
this one only lasted a single episode - a 22-minute video on resident evil 6. i don't remember specifically where caddy talked about this video's production; unfortunately, it could've been in a now-deleted jradgex podcast. but he's talked before about how strenuous the video was to make. at this point, caddy would've only been making videos for a year, and he'd only been making gaming videos for 5 months. this was one of the first time crunches he's had for a video, as he had to get this game finished as fast as possible and edit a whole video on it. it took a toll on him and it resulted in a video that expressed an opinion he didn't really have time to fully form - he'd go on to dislike resi 6 later on.
caddy's retrospectives! (november 19th, 2012 - december 6th, 2015)
Tumblr media
this show centered around caddy sporting a white checkered shirt and delving into the first three games of a franchise in order to see if they still hold up.
this was the series that introduced caddy's buzzcut that he wore from june 2014 to september 2015! initially meant for a single gag in part 3 of the max payne retrospective, he kept wearing this buzzcut because he realized how much he hated having long hair. that sure didn't age well, didn't it?
a whole retrospective would be a 3-part video, with the three videos being uploaded over three sundays. in 2015, a couple retrospectives were uploaded through 5-6 weeks, as caddy would produce an easter egg hunting video for didyouknowgaming in between parts. this was pretty controversial in the fanbase but i'll touch on this in another entry.
there were 8 franchises explored in total - crash bandicoot, metal gear solid, tekken, oddworld, max payne, sly cooper, gex, and uncharted. after this show was canceled in 2016, he redid the crash bandicoot and oddworld retrospectives in the style of the caddicarus show. well, 2/3 of the oddworld retrospective anyway. i think caddy's gonna save MGS for a special occasion. the spyro video was originally going to be in the form of a retrospective, but after the 2016 rebrand that was changed to be a long video covering the PS1 trilogy. as time went on, that turned into literally every mainline spyro game.
oh, and this show is also where "FUN FACT, DID YOU KNOW-" and "cooper is a swear word" originated from.
current quickies! (december 8th, 2012 - october 26th, 2016)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ah, yes - the one original pre-2016 side show that survived the 2016 side show culling. well, at least for a year.
in this series, a london cockney sex pistols fan named quick j. hoarsethroat would talk extremely fast about a brand-new video game. it took a couple of episodes for the show to find its footing; the first episode was two minutes of caddy reviewing the game entirely in his quick j. voice, at a normal speed, and dropping (censored) f-bombs every second. the second episode had the proper review part in caddy's normal voice, but he spoke at a regular speed. the third episode began the show's normal format in which quick j. would give some background, then take a deep breath, then the proper review would start with caddy giving a rapid-fire review in his normal voice while holiday for strings plays in the background.
oh, yeah...this is where cyoar came from!
Tumblr media
well, it was actually introduced in "how to pull birds" buuuut most fans know it from current quickies. lol.
in 2016, after the first major rebrand, it became weekly and was uploaded every wednesday as a way for caddy to cover modern games after getting rid of the other shows. elements of tinker time and drive-thru reviews were brought in to unify the modern game review shows into one entity.
other than the 2010's game reviewer gimmicks and the character of quick, there really wasn't anything significant about this show. i guess i can add that the gone home review was controversial and that the 2016 thumbnail art was even MORE of an abysmal crime on graphic design than the TCS thumbnails...
Tumblr media
i did better graphic design on my youtube channel when i was fourteen.
in 2017, caddy began to slowly phase out gimmicks on his channel, starting with current quickies. it was replaced by a variety show called the caddy show, the style of which could be compared to today's special. it's considered a reboot of it by some fans. quick j. hoarsethroat appeared in the caddicarus show a few times, most notably in the beginning of the aladdin episode.
oh yeah - i found the original tweet where quick j's name was coined! caddy wanted fans to come up with a name for the current quickies character and this user came up with the name we know today. this name was first used in the top 10 games of 2014 episode in january 2015.
Tumblr media
TINKER TIIIIIIME!!!! (june 16th, 2013 - january 24th, 2016)
Tumblr media
along with current quickies, tinker time was met with a lot of groaaaannnss on a sunday. well, ok - that was during the period in 2015 with sporadic caddicarus episodes.
this was a laid-back show that focused on any random game caddy had been "tinkering around" with. there wasn't really a gimmick for this show other than the ironically bombastic intro, the fake TV beside caddy, and the rating scale - unbelievable, commendable, acceptable, disreputable, and flammable. again, there was nothing really significant about this show other than a few events. caddy did a couple of sponsored "indie spotlight" videos for the playstation store in this series. there was the divisive journey review. oh, and that "stanley parable incident" mentioned in the zoo race caddicarus episode? that referred to a tinker time episode on the stanley parable that was formerly his most controversial video. basically he talked about the game for 30 seconds, and the rest of the video was a scene from the game that was replayed over and over for like 10 minutes. this was because caddy wanted the audience to see the game for themselves. obviously, a lot of fans didn't take kindly to this. but going to caddicarus for serious in-depth reviews is like going to taco bell expecting fine authentic mexican cuisine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the lone privated episode of this series was the most unique one, in which caddy went to the USA (including my city!!!) and reviewed some PS vita trigger grips. this was one of the videos that didn't make the cut for the 9/23/22 private video unlistings.
hands-on preview! (september 28th, 2014)
Tumblr media
oh, what fun....for two episodes! that are now privated! and one of which is completely lost! except for the intro which is how i was able to make this gif!
in 2014, caddy interviewed lorne lanning in a video that's now privated for some reason (but i found it!). later that year, he went to a preview event for alien: isolation. after this preview, he made a video about it and created yet another new show - hands-on preview, or H.O.P for short. the lorne lanning interview was then renamed under the HOP banner. and unfortunately, even though i found the oddworld episode, the alien: isolation episode is completely lost. the only remnant of the officially-named series is the intro - and thank god that was saved because that was the most memorable part of it.
drive thru reviews! (february 20th, 2014 - february 3rd, 2016)
Tumblr media
this was a show where caddy talked super fast about a brand new game release- wait a minute, have we talked about this before?
yes, this was another rapid-fire modern game review series. but this time, caddy wasn't playing a character, he wore a bathrobe instead of a scarf, hat and sex pistols shirt and the reviews were much shorter. it ran concurrently with current quickies so you can only imagine the confusion this caused. conceptually, it was literally the same damn show. this show along with current quickies was pretty controversial in 2015 due to them being a lot more common than caddicarus episodes.
this show started on the second channel in february 2014, but in february 2015 it was introduced to the main channel as the first wednesday show - the first time in caddicarus history that we saw more than one upload a week. unfortunately, i was only able to salvage 3 of the 9 videos that were uploaded on the second channel; in 2019, caddy privated the second channel episodes along with the drum covers for some god-forsaken reason. anyway, here's a link to a google doc with some lost second channel vids i found!
and here's something funny. i literally found the thumbnail/title card of this series by searching up "drive thru sign" and scrolling down a bit. only the highest quality graphic design on pre-2018 caddicarus XD
Tumblr media
so yeah! that was a run-down of the pre-2016 side shows.
of all these shows i discussed, caddy's retrospectives was the most beloved, as they were longer videos that were more in line with the mainline caddicarus show episodes, just without the slaughter/salvage format. it was mourned for a long time after its cancellation. current quickies, tinker time, and drive-thru reviews weren't mourned nearly as much, but they still had their fans. all...10 of them.
this really shows you the sheer number of shows that the channel had pre-2016 lmao. and some of those shows were just the same damn thing with different steps.
it's so crazy to think about how these gimmicky formulaic shows were on the same channel as long dennis and spons, the sentient talking kite with a face, fingers and shoes™. if you were a fan at the time, left in the late 2010's, and came back in the 20's like me, the culture shock whiplash was unlike any other. i seriously wonder how newer fans look at these older videos. to them it's just weird 2010's gimmicky game reviewer videos, but to us...
Tumblr media
...or maybe this, depending on your viewpoint.
Tumblr media
anyways, be grateful for what you have, 2020's lumpies and germs. we never had graphic design this beautiful or quality this consistent.

YEAR IN REVIEW | 2021
2021 was a mixed bag. I wasn’t very prolific, nor did I get many notes. But I did reach 700 followers, and completed a short story from start to finish. That is quite an achievement. So, here is a summary of what I was up to this year.
The Highlight
The one thing I was very steady at, was “Bridges Burn”. Some months, it was the only thing I posted. I am very proud of this story. I put a lot of effort in it, especially the ending. Also, coordinating with Caroline was hella fun. Definitely the best part of my year.
My favorite post per Month
Like always, I chose based on what I liked, not which got the most notes. Most of them are from “Bridges Burn”. Also, SNTM has its own category, so they will (mostly) not be included on this list.
January | This was a slightly eventful month, but this was my favorite edit of the year. More interesting things that happened: I started Bridges Burn, I discovered Sim Ripper, and there were so many reblogs. I’m hoping to reblog more this next year and give more attention to the community.
February | Not much happened. Only Bridges Burn. This one’s my favorite of the lot.
March | Same as February. So many Gianlerette reblogs.
April | [TW: depression] I was in a sad mood that month, and did some weird edit, but I worked hard on it and I loved it anyway. Honorable mention is this edit of Piper.
May | Same as february/march. Honorary mention is this edit I made for mermay.
June | This was my most busy month. I made so many edits for pride month. I also updated the character page, which is always fun. Honorable mention: create a minor sim challenge.
July | Octavia walking out of her children’s life was the highlight of the story. Truly iconic.
August | I kicked off the epilogue. Only 10 posts total that month, 5 of which were original posts. Yikes.
October | January made her first official appearance on the story.
September | I did it. I finished “Bridges Burn”. I am beaming with pride. Honorable mention: I changed my icon.
November | The Emersons made a brief comeback. Honorable mention is their kitchen renovation. Turns out I love decorating things. Who knew?
December | Only things I did was work on SNTM a bit. So those edits (1 2) go here cause it would be empty otherwise.
SNTM
I put together some statistics about the series this year. We finished Episode 3 and are about halfway through Episode 4. I had quite an uninterrupted streak which lasted about 7 weeks (I think). Hopefully we can get back to schedule soon. Otherwise, these are the highlights. PS: The minutes don’t count the full E3 video, just the little parts.
Thank you!
Finally, I like to thank you all for sticking it with me this year, even though it was a mess. And to all the new followers, thank you for taking the chance, and I hope you’re not regretting your decision.
Goodbye 2021!

Departure of E3 2019
Tumblr media
This weekend wraps up the week of E3 where we where introduced to several huge titles and sequels!  There hasn’t been a better E3 than this one!  Every game that was announce seemed to grab the audiences attention with the developers ground-breaking trailers and demos.  With the long overdue announcements of release dates, crowds went wild for their favorite titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Code Vein, Death Stranding, Animal Crossing, and more.  Not to mention the unexpected announcements like Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2! There were also a lot of Indie developers there at the expo, all with surprisingly innovative content, I’ll be really excited to play some of those titles!  What game titles are you most excited for?  What have you been looking forward to and which developer had the most hype at the show?  Was there anything disappointing at the event?  Let me know in the comment section below!

Harry Potter TV Series
Millennial Mike and I cover a variety of topics in Ep. 557, including the cancellation of E3 2023, the rumored Harry Potter TV series, and Netflix's Scott Pilgrim anime. Tune in for these discussions and more! Full Topics:
Netflix is developing an anime adaptation of "Scott Pilgrim" featuring the original cast from the 2010 film, to be produced by Aniplex and set to air in 2024.
A trailer has been released for the anime film adaptation of "Sand Land" by Akira Toriyama, directed by Yuichiro Hayashi and featuring music by Norihito Sumitomo, set to release in Japan on August 27, 2022.
Victoria Alonso, an executive at Marvel Studios, reportedly clashed with Disney over censorship of LGBTQ+ content in Marvel films, while Warner Bros. has been more willing to include such content despite censorship issues.
There is speculation that Disney's cost-cutting measures could lead to Marvel no longer operating as a standalone company, but no official announcement has been made.
Seth Rogen revealed in an interview that he did not do any voices for his role as Donkey Kong in the Super Mario Bros. movie.
E3 2023 has been canceled due to lack of sustained interest, but other gaming events are still scheduled for June.
MultiVersus will be taken offline on June 25th to pave the way for a full release in 2024, but the game will still be accessible in offline and training modes.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg defended Bruce Campbell's joke about the film's box office performance, but some fans were unhappy with the comment.
Warner Bros. is reportedly close to a deal with HBO for a Harry Potter TV series based on the book series by JK Rowling, expected to consist of seven seasons and have Rowling involved in the project.
More information about Warner Bros. Discovery's new streaming strategy is expected to be announced soon.

Year in Review - Animal Crossing New Horizons
I started writing this review/criticism in May of 2020 but decided to update it as the year went along and post it on the anniversary of NH’s release. I would like to preface that this is mostly going to be full of questions of criticisms, I love this game. I have not been able to put it down since I got it on March 20th. My first AC game was NL and then I played HHD. I was ecstatic when they announced NH at E3 2019 and kept trying to find other games to fit in my AC shaped hole in my heart but I wasn’t able to fill it till this game came out. I feel like the pace of the game is great with how you build up to unlocking terraforming and 5 stars, and I feel like the updates are well timed especially with how crazy 2020 was for everybody. That being said there were some things that irked me.
Some of the points I will bring up came from other people/commenters I have seen on here, Discord, Reddit, and Twitter that I also agree with. Some other points are from Youtubers such as ShayMay and ChuyPlays. And others are from me.
With that out of the way, let’s get on with the review. Warning, I guess, don’t expect this to be an essay, this is just a patchwork quilt made up of thoughts.
Terraforming
I wish cliffs/tiers had a smaller level? Like how we’re able to make stepping stones for our rivers if we don’t want to put a bridge down/use our vaulting pole. I just wish there was a cliff alternative.
Another cliff alternative would be if we could put bridges between cliffs. I think we’ve all been there where we see this picture
Tumblr media
thought ‘we can do that!!” then realized it was photoshopped
When we go into terraforming, I wish a grid showed up on our island. It would make it much easier to avoid hitting the wrong square when I’m trying to change a river.
Having us be able to “close” a waterfall from a lower level but not create a new on at the same spot.
Also the fact we can add a 4th tier but can’t put anything on it is just strange to me. I know we have to have a limit to how high we can go, but at least let me put nature stuff, such as trees/flowers/bushes, on top of it instead of just a flat piece of land.
Houses
Why no ceiling items? Find it odd they added a bunch of stuff in HHD and didn’t add that to the new mainline game
There’s no reason I can think of to why we can’t access our storage when we’re crafting inside our house.
Buildings
Dodo Airlines
The Dodo Islands right now are very boring and barely use them. I have enough money and materials to not go farming and save up all my NMTs for when I go villager hunting, which has also become a rarity. I think it would be a good idea to make some islands seasoned themed. Have them be all rare, but have an island where it’s fall and has maple leaves falling, a cherry blossom one, one with snowflakes. I wouldn’t recommend they make Holiday themed ones, but having seasonal ones would be nice.
When I mess up a dodo code or accidentally hit ‘make a bridge’ instead of incline, etc. why do I have to restart the ENTIRE conversation instead of the characters just being “oh? did you mean “x” or “would you like to retype it?” like is it that hard??
Resident Services
As much as I love Isabelle this game has made me very indifferent towards her. I think they gave her a role that didn’t need to exist. They could have either let us roam around without any warnings to who was roaming around our island, in the campsite, or any weather updates. Just have us rely on our villagers, the TV, and our eyeballs. OR they could have given us a social media like app and/or a weather app. Instead, they gave us Isabelle that only announces something once a month.
Nook’s Cranny
This might just be me but can they add a little DIY area in the store? Maybe just make to where you can only customize things?? This is more out of convenience than an actual problem
Speaking of customization, since you can make medicine but also buy can we do the same for the custom kits and bait. Like make it where we can buy bait and also make our own custom kits? I just think it’s weird that they give us either/or for medicine but not for the other 2 that I honestly use way more than medicine.
Why do the Able Sisters get to have all of the colors of an item in their shop but Nook’s Cranny can’t? And why can’t we just be able to customize all items that have multiple looks/colors? Example, why can’t I just be able to change the wood type for the antique set instead of having to buy each one? I get that the furniture catalog is already small, but that’s not my fault. They’ve decided to not add past furniture sets into NH.
Able Sisters
Let us multi select clothes instead of it just being how much we can wear. idc if it’ll just put those clothes in our personal storage and then we’ll have to run home and put it in that storage, I just hate having to walk back in and out every time I want a dress in multi colors. ALSO tell us if we already bought it, like a little storage icon or something
Why can’t we hang any article of clothing on the back wall, why do we have to either make it or have the OG qr designer come to our island?
Why can’t we have the transparent option when designing clothes? I think it would make many designer’s lives easier instead of having to make 8 versions of the same outfit.
NPCs
I have played this game almost every day since it came out, minus 2 days. I have also been able to make friends on discord that help with trading/cataloging/etc. I have all of Saharah’s, Kicks’, Label’s, and Redd’s items. I have all of the fish/bug models I want and have no desire to “catch them all”. I haven’t talked to Wisp in months because I have most of the items and his idea of “expensive” is 10k bells. The only NPC I actively look forward to is Celeste because even though I now have all of her DIYs, she still gives out star fragments, regular large or horoscope, when I talk to her.
What I’m wondering is if they’re planning on doing anything else with these characters. Before I speak further I’m going to weed out characters that I am actually fine with. CJ and Flick will always be there if I want a bug/fish model, I understand that Saharah/Kicks/Redd have a ton of stuff to get and w/o the help of my discord friends, I probably wouldn’t have gotten everything till late 2021.
So that leaves Label and Wisp. I understand Wisp is there for beginners, but now that I’m at a point where I am a bell millionaire and have most of the Nook’s items cataloged, there is no reason for me to talk to him. I wish Nintendo had put in a system where depending on the person who Wisp is talking to, it determines how much money you have in your bank account/looks at your catalog, Wisp’s item’s worth goes up.
As for Label...I never saw her as viable. I also thought the tickets were dumb and you don’t even have to talk to her to have her items show up in the shop the next day. I think it would be great if when you bought all of her items, she decided to join the Able’s sisters in their shop like in NL and then have Gracie show up in her place for the weekly NPC.
Where is Blanca? Or Brewster? Or Shrunk, Katrina, Gracie, or Kapp’n and his family? I understand we will probably never see characters like Harriet or Pete because they have been replaced by a new system, but what is the excuse for these other characters? I’m hoping they show up in year 2 of NH but...we’ll see.
Villagers
I think having your first villagers living in basic homes is a good idea but one that quickly gets annoying. I found Sherb while villager hunting for the 1st time and have had him ever since, but his house is stuck at basic lazy setup. Instead of me going back and forth on whether or not i should trust somebody enough to hold Sherb, get somebody else out, then get him to move back to my island, You can have it to where you let them leave, then just wait till he comes to the campsite to visit and reinvite him. You get his actual house and he still remembers you. This could also go for you accidentally letting somebody go or letting somebody go then regretting it. Also it’d be fun to see some old villagers again.
I was curious and looked back on past games to see how many new villagers were released each game and NH has been the least amount. NL released 112 new villagers in total while NH has released 8. I’m hoping they might release more down the line but, hella disappointing imo. Along with the Sanrio update and adding those characters to the game, I am more hopeful that they’ll be adding new characters!
Having an “event” of sorts where you visit a villager’s house and they’re looking inside their closet. They look at you in surprise when you walk in and sheepishly explain that they were going through their clothes/items. They then decide to ask you for help since they can’t decide what to get rid of/what to keep and think you have a good eye for that sort of thing. Basically, a way to get rid of any clothes/items your villager somehow received bc I guess Isabelle scolding them isn’t enough.
A big problem I feel like everybody has is the villager dialogue. Yes they added sub personality types for each personality but they are not perfectly cut in half, ex. are the Sisterly types where there are 4 B types and 20 A types, like?? How I have “fixed” this problem is by having one of each personality type on my island so I always have different conversations with my villagers, but I understand not a lot of people do that. Some people just want normal/peppy types on their island bc they’re cute as hell, I get it. I know it would be...difficult to come up with unique dialogue for all 399 villagers, including Sanrio, but....you could at least for the “gimmicky” villagers. Some examples of these villagers are Ribbot and Sprocket, Lucky and Ankha, the super hero squad, and Kabuki.
Quality Life stuff
Why cant we sit AND wish on stars? And I don’t mean the sit emote; why can’t I sit on a bench and wish on stars?
It sucks when I’m about to hit my rocks or just do a lot of dig work and then my shovel breaks in the middle of it. To show the tool is about to break, cracks should start to form on the handle and get deeper/longer as you keep using it, starting when you have 5 uses left. You can also add an auditory element by making the tool sound like its struggling when you are using it. Net/Shovel/Axe/Fishing Pole can have cracks show up on the handle, Slingshot can have crack show up at the bottom of the 2 spokes while having 1 at the top of the handle. And the watering can have cracks at the base of the can.
If our inventory is full when I dig up a flower, why can’t I replace it with another flower to bury? And if I can dig up an item at an diagonal item, I should be able to bury it again at the same angle.
Other
Having more...liveliness?? on the island, idk how else to say it. Example is whenever you travel by plane there's a chemtrail in the sky afterwards, maybe just seeing other planes go by throughout the day. Maybe you can get a hint Redd or Gulliver will be visiting you tomorrow if you see their boats beyond the horizon, Redd’s just crusin’ and the Gulls’ boats looking messed up. On a week where you don't have a new camper, maybe have an old villager visit. That leads me too
I wish villager’s doors could count as “exterior decorating” and we can just put any ornamental on there instead having to hope that your villager will put the wreath on their own door.
Conclusion
If you read this whole thing holy shit, thanks!! Go treat yourself on my part lol If you disagreed with me or whatever feel free to chat with me about it!

Greetings from Night City
Tumblr media
When CD Projekt RED, the largest game developer in Europe first announced in 2012, that it was working on a title called Cyberpunk 2077, the game seemed destined for success. It was a tantalizing announcement to say the least: The game would draw on a popular tabletop RPG released in the late 1980s, and a teaser released in 2013 showed that the developer had successfully translated that world into an appealingly gritty cybernetic environment. But the calm ocean was merely a signal of the rough tides that would follow.
The developer wrote after the game’s E3 2018 presentation, “On the contrary, it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too”. These words soon felt like an ominous foreshadowing.
The game, announced as an April 2020 release, was delayed several times due to quality problems. Each rescheduled release date was followed by another rescheduled release date and it raised a few eyebrows because it called for more patience than many Cyberpunk fans were willing to dredge up.
Despite stating in 2019 that it would not require developers to work overtime to finish the game, CD Projekt RED entered a months-long crunch period, a labour issue that has gained more attention in gaming circles in recent years. Bloomberg reported in September that the studio had instituted six-day workweeks for the final development stretch; at that time, the game was set for a November release. A month later, in late October, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed again until December.
After an excruciating wait, the game was released finally in December. However, Cyberpunk has, since its release, been roundly criticized across the gaming community by consumers, game developers and industry insiders alike. The game was launched with a plethora of technical issues, which include inconsistent frame rates and game-breaking bugs, such as T-posing NPCs and flying cars.
Cyberpunk 2077 managed to give way to another issue due to lack of oversight. A feature of the game recreates the tests that doctors use to discern whether a patient has epilepsy but offers no epileptic seizure warnings in advance of their appearance. One games critic reported that she suffered grand mal seizures as a result.
When the game’s first reviews came out just before its December 10 release, they were mostly positive. It turned out, however, that this was because reviewers were only given early access to the Windows PC version, the one best optimized and representative of the expansive, graphically intensive game’s potential. Additionally, ambiguous marketing meant that the game was nothing like it seemed at panels and conferences. Many called out the developers for deceptive marketing.
To make things worse, the developers knew about the game’s shortcoming all along. In a transcript of questions and answers with investors, CD Projekt RED openly admitted, that despite providing assurances to Sony and Microsoft, they failed to make the necessary quality assurance fixes prior to the release of the game.
In an unprecedented move, Sony Interactive Entertainment pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store until further notice. CD Projekt RED is also facing two class action lawsuits by its investors, over the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077, in what has become one of the most high profile flame-outs in the video game industry.
Task at hand-
As representatives of CD Projekt RED, you are required to come up with a plan to minimise, and eventually turn around the damage caused by the stunning failure of Cyberpunk 2077.
Deliverables required, but not restricted to:
A. Report containing the following:
1. Executive Summary
2. Defence Strategies
3. Public Relation Strategies.
4. Press Release.
B. Creatives
Submission for this task is at 9:00 am tomorrow (Monday, 5th April). Contact Karan if you have any doubts. Best of luck participants!

So you’ve gotten into Polygon.... now what?
This is basically a master post of recommendations for people who are new to Polygon fandom/not deep in the polygon lore and are looking for some recommendations/direction.
Things I assume you’ve already seen but if you haven’t you should check out: Unraveled, Monster Factory, Overboard
Personal Faves:
Gill and Gilbert - A series in which Pat and Brian do weekly challenges while they play video games badly
Peacecraft - Griffin plays a pacifist run in World of Warcraft. No spoilers but it has a super satisfying conclusion and very good goofs.
Please Retweet - Pat desperately tries to get Nintendo to retweet a very good picture of toad that he made (Warning: if you’re looking to avoid N*ck maybe skip this one as he’s in a few episodes)
Video Game Theatre - The Polygon video team acts out iconic video game scenes.
Griffin’s Amiibo Corner - Griffin reviews Nintendo Amiibo’s based on the most important factor: can you vore it?
Jackbox - Ensemble series where a rotating group of Polygon people play Jackbox games and give us Good Content.
Series Recs/Underappreciated Gems:
Law Abiding Citizen - VASTLY underappreciated. Russ is a normal video game citizen trying to go about his life and Justin is the devil on his shoulder telling him “Aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you ever wanna go apeshit?”
Game Ogre - Simone and Pat have been cursed and now have to play video games using one hand each on the same controller. It’s chaos.
Filmbreakers - Brian and Simone fuck around in VR to create a cinematic masterpiece.
Yellface - Jeff and Simone play horror games and see how long Simone can go without causing Jeff physical harm.
FiendZone - Jenna uses her Knowledge to educate us about horror tropes in gaming. A good place for anyone who wants to appreciate Jenna. (these videos aren’t in a playlist and are hard to search for :/)
Brand Slam - Pat makes brands fight to the death in a symbolic destruction of capitalism
Individual Vids not part of a larger series:
American Truck Simulator - Griffin and Justin fuck around. I can’t describe it better than that.
Pat’s Pets - Pat ranks animals in games on how good they are.
Polygon Investigates: Lootboxes - Probably one of my favorite stand-alone vids. I can’t adequately explain it. It’s an Experience.
Spy Party - Griffin and Justin Fuck around
Simone’s 2017 Games of the Year - This video isn’t inherently funny or anything but it is the video I found out she was Not Straight from so it’s special to me okay?
Which Super Smash Bros character is Your State? - idk it’s a mess and it’s wonderful
Pat Fixes Anthem - He has a few vids like this that aren’t in a playlist but are worth your time (I’ll post links to others if requested)
Good Shit Ruined by the Presence of a Slime Human:
imo a lot of these are still worth a view but I understand people wanting to avoid videos with N*ck
Touch the Skyrim - Car Boys - First Half of Awful Squad - Griffin’s Infamous Cronch
Streams Worth Your Time:
Awful Squad - the Gang playing PUBG with limited success
Brian Plays Half-Life for the First Time - pretty self-explanatory
The Baseball Game - Pat and Allegra rank video game intros. It’s good content
E3 2019 Streams - tbh i think all the e3 streams from any year are worth your time but in the 2019 ones Brian commits crimes against nature on his body (food crimes)
Smash Party - A bunch of different people play Smash Bros. It’s a good time.
I tried to be comprehensive here but I probably forgot a few and I haven’t personally seen everything I’m sure in a couple of months there’ll be more (new and old) that I’ll see that belongs on this list.
Hopefully, this is a good start!
