Lucky Shoes

I don't know if I believe in good luck, I really don't, but I don't think it's bad luck to believe in good luck...make sense?

For as long I can remember, I've been doing things, little things, to "get" good luck. Hard to explain, but in the moment, I would see if something would go my way. Like "If this light turns green before I stop, I'll have good luck" or "If this pen still has ink in it, I'll have good luck, and if it doesn't, bad luck." I usually have to throw in bad luck, just to make it interesting. The luck, whether good or bad, would only last for the day. 

Something I am especially "superstitious" about is my flats. Yes, I'm talking about my shoes. Before I left for college, I splurged on a pair of E. Porselli ballet flats. Beautiful, buttery soft leather that hugged my feet, the shoes were everything I could ask for and more. I wore them everyday, with everything. It was never bad day if I had my flats on. I'm not saying they were good luck, but when they were on, my world went round. 

Flash forward to a few months later, a series of unfortunate events caused me to lose my flats. (Don't ask.) I couldn't afford another pair, they are not cheap, so I was forced to wear other shoes. I have never had worse days, and especially nights, when I didn't have my flats. My floor-mates picked up on my unusual footwear, constantly asking where my flats were. I guess Chloe isn't Chloe without her flats. I picked up a cheap pair of flats at forever 21 and felt a little better, but my luck was never the same.

I don't think material things can change your life, especially a pair of shoes. But, I think looking your best and feeling great, can change not only your attitude but your confidence too. My flats are like a second skin, and without them I often feel naked. I don't know about you, but I'm not comfortable being naked around most people.

I plan on getting my flats back and turning my luck around. Until then, forever 21 flats will have to do.
