Wade Shumate, 91
Mr. Wade Shumate, age 91 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Little Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Mathis, Rev. Steven Shumate and Rev. Chesley Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Shumate was born September 18, 1925 in Wilkes County to Hardin E. and Alice R. Shumate. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. He is retired from Tyson Foods/Abitibi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Shumate is survived by his wife; Helen O. Billups Shumate of the home, three sons; Jimmy Shumate and wife Idesta of North Wilkesboro, Steven Shumate and wife Babbie Dean of North Wilkesboro and Michael Shumate and wife Celeste of North Wilkesboro, four grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church, Little Mountain Church Road, North Wilkesboro, NC. 28659.
Pamela Kennedy, 31
Ms. Pamela Nicole Minton Kennedy, age 31, of Wilkesboro, died Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Barefoot officiating. Burial will be in Davis Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Ms. Kennedy was born July 17, 1985 in Wilkes County to R.J. and Joyce Church Minton.
She was preceded in death by her father, one aunt and four uncles.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice L. Kennedy of North Wilkesboro; her mother, Joyce Minton of North Wilkesboro; two daughters; two step-daughters, Brittany Kennedy and Hallie Kennedy, both of Dallas; one brother, Rickie William Greene of Hayes; one nephew, Dustin Greene, of Hayes; two aunts, Stella Mae Greene and husband, James, and Beulah Lea Greene and husband, Benny, all of Ferguson.

Mrs. Linda Jean Richardson Parker, age 76 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, March 9th, 2017 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Alexander, Rev. Roger Elmore and Rev. Brian Blankenship officiating. The Committal Service will be held in the Mountlawn Mausoleum Chapel following the Funeral Service with burial in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Parker was born June 22, 1940 in Wilkes County to Thomas Braxton “Brack” and Beatrice Ethel Wood Richardson. She was retired from the poultry industry as a government inspector.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister; Brenda Dean Richardson.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband; Edward Wayne Parker of the home, three daughters; Monica Reed and husband Jeff of North Wilkesboro, Jill McGee and husband Sherwin of Ferguson, Alice Blankenship and husband Brian of North Wilkesboro, two sons; Timothy Wayne Parker of North Wilkesboro and Jeffrey Kurt Parker of North Wilkesboro, eleven grandchildren; Travis Parker, Taylor Parker, Teanna Parker, Kurtis Parker, Logan Parker, Lauren Reed, Lindsey Reed, Josie McGee, Julia McGee, Brandon Blankenship and Brenna Blankenship, one great grandchild; Tinley Parker, one sister; Nancy Church of Wilkesboro, and two brothers; Dr. Jim Richardson of Morganton and Thomas Braxton Richardson, Jr. of Mtn. Home, AR.

Eileen Rhodes, 73
Eileen Patricia Sanwald Rhodes, age 73, of Wilkesboro, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Avante at Wilkesboro. She was born July 3, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Arthur and Eileen Smith Sanwald. Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Rhodes; daughter, Jennifer Steigerwald of Colfax; son, Gregory Jacques and wife Lisa of New York; brother, Arthur Sanwald and wife Patricia of New York; grandchildren, Julia Steigerwald, Christina Byrd, Jenna Jacques, Tommy Jacques; and great granddaughter, Sophia Byrd.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Miller Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 4:00 until 8:00 Tuesday night and from 11:00 until 12:00 on Wednesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Tony Phillips, age 79, of Boomer, died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 10, 1938 in Wilkes County to Willie and Minnie Walsh Phillips. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Tony Gene Phillips, Steve Phillips, step son, Grant Elledge; brothers, Walter Phillips, Lawrence Phillips, Henry Phillips, Robert Phillips, Johnny Phillips; sisters, Opal Eller, Betty Hester.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Caldwell Phillips; step daughters, Karen Erwin of Moravian Falls, Sandra Hendrix of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Shelia Elledge of Boomer; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Tim DeBord and Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Zion Hill Baptist Church from 2:00 until 3:00 on Monday, prior to the service. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Royal Anderson; sons, James and Charles Anderson; brothers, Wesley and Otis Anderson.
Surviving are daughters, Ann Cooper and husband Ralph of Parksburg, Pennsylvania, Jean Wall and husband Michael of New London, NC; grandchildren, Richard Anderson and wife Karen of Mooresville, Denise Anderson of Leola, Pennsylvania, Stephanie Ortlip and husband Randy of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Dave Anderson and wife Samantha of Coatsville, Pennsylvania, Steven McDaniels and wife Stephanie of Thomasville, Kenny McDaniels and wife Teresa of Buford, Georgia, Christopher Walls and wife Tiffany of Rockwell, NC, Lacy Linceum and husband Matthew of Irvington, Alabama; sister, Virgie Bell Jarvis of North Wilkesboro; many great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Anderson Family Cemetery in Moravian Falls with Rev. Leon Church officiating. David Smith Williams, Jr., age 77, of North Wilkesboro, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1939 in Wilkes County to David Smith Williams, Sr. and Katie Combs Williams. He was retired with the Town of Wilkesboro. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Monroe Williams, Lloyd Williams, Elmer Williams, Robert Pardue and sister, Kathryn Parks.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Williams; daughter, Lois Bentley and husband Richard of Wilkesboro; sons, Michael Williams of Wilkesboro, Steve Williams of North Wilkesboro; sister, Sally Parks and husband Lee of Virginia; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Memorials may be made to Pruitt Hospice, 902 West D Street, Suite B, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659

Marie M. Spencer, age 87
Marie M. Spencer, age 87, of Millers Creek, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Wilkes Senior Village. She was born August 8, 1929 in Ashe County to Fred and Bonnie Hartzog Miller. Mrs. Spencer was a member and past Sunday School teacher at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Mrs. Spencer worked full time with Belk Department Store for over 30 years. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Spencer.
Surviving are her daughter, Peggy Owens; son, Don Spencer; brothers, Bob Miller and Dean Miller; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Pastor Joey Moore and Pastor Mike Church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pleasant Home Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:00 on Friday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Della Frazier, 90
Mrs. Della Stamper Shepherd Frazier, age 90, of Archdale, formerly of Wilkes County, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Pine Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Thomasville. She was born May 4, 1926 in Wilkes County to Wilborn Cicero and Lenora Osborne Stamper. She was a member of True Love Church of Living God. She loved gardening and listening to Gospel music. Her Faith was a very important part of her life. Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theo Anderson Frazier; brother, Bruce Stamper; and sisters, Ruth Stamper, Verdie Yates, Verna Stamper and granddaughter, Angela Shepherd Shackelford.
Surviving are her sons, Buster Shepherd and wife Peggy of Jamestown, Johnny "JR" Shepherd of Archdale; daughter, Marie Fite and husband Bobby of Texas; brothers, Fred Stamper and wife Edna Mae of China Grove, Ted Stamper and wife Helen of Missouri, Ray Stamper and wife Nellie of North Wilkesboro, James Stamper of North Wilkesboro, Vaughn Stamper and wife Nora of Maryland; sisters, Lula Ellis of North Wilkesboro, Maude Foster and husband Bill of North Wilkesboro, Jean Bowen of Winston Salem; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bud Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:00 until 2:00 on Friday, prior to the service. Mrs. Nancy Carol Woodruff Whittington, age 84, widow of Thomas Ray Whittington passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Wilkes Senior Village.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Paul Hugger officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whittington was born February 11, 1933 in Wilkes County to Vernon David and Bertha Holder Woodruff. She was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek. Mrs. Whittington worked for Wilkes County Schools where she taught at Millers Creek Elementary School, West Wilkes High School and Wilkes Community College from 1970 until her retirement on May 27, 1988.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Lucille Brookshire, Jessie Rhodes and Betty Jo Hamby.
She is survived by one daughter; Diane Whittington Blackburn (Debra Lynn Mackie) of Lewisville, one son; Alan Grant Whittington (Denise Bryant Whittington) of Wilkesboro, three grandchildren; Sarah Whittington-Balda (Susie Balda-Whittington) Benjamin Whittington and wife Allie, Jason Blackburn and wife Maile and three great grandchildren; Hayden Whittington, Camden Whittington and Carrie Balda and one sister; Helen Wiles of North Wilkesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilkes Community College Endowment Corp. c/o Allison Phillips, PO Box 120, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
