like the sand your little cherub tracks in after a long day spent digging mazes on the banks of the lake

      to follow the trail,

           to clean up that mess

                           vacuum in hand,

determined.

Soon, you will come to terms with the impossibility of ever finding it all— grains lost to the soft fibers of the carpet where they will stay until ripped out someday only to be replaced with hardwood.
