Uptight – Jim Halpert
This is just a little cutesy one-shot with our favorite golden retriever: Jim Halpert. I think he needs more writings done with readers or even Pam. Honestly, it would just be fun to read about him more. I kinda wanna do a part 2 on this... idk... I hope you like it!!
Everyone knew Jim Halpert. Jim Halpert knew everyone well enough. He talked to people, smiled and laughed with them, and pranked stuck up asses.
Well… except you…
You were uptight, in a work way. You never slacked off, only took off when you were sick. Which was never.
You sat with Jim and Dwight, usually typing and helping clients set up their paper orders.
Jim thought you were beautiful. So average, so basic, so perfect. Sometimes, he would wonder to himself, as he glanced at you, how different would you act outside of work?
His small friendly crush was a secret to everyone, especially you. Jim knew I’d you found out, his life, with you, would be over. Forever.
Today was a normal day in the office— you working your ass off while Jim annoyed Dwight a little by talking louder than usual.
It annoyed you as well, but you didn’t say anything.
“Anyways” Jim said to nobody on the phone, “I cannot believe that that happened!” He half yelled, making you sigh.
Jim glanced at you, his face falling. You were annoyed. He could tell by the cute frown on your face and the face you were chewing your gum a bit harsher then normal.
“I have to get back to you,” he said quietly, glancing away, “bye,”
Although it was a fake call, he set the phone down.
Glancing over at you, seeing that you were already staring back at him, made his heart flutter softly.
“Thanks,” was all you said to him, the first thing you said to him since yesterday, and soon, the receiver was up to your ear from an incoming call.
Jim felt his heart warm at your cold statement. You were like a cat, he was like a dog. How funny.
——
The rest of the day went by smoothly, in your opinion. The room had finally been put at a comfortable temperature, since some people liked it colder than others.
You looked at the clock and hummed. Exactly five, so you got up and grabbed your old red leather purse and the cardigan you brought.
Without saying goodbye, you pushed in your chair and left the office, hearing scrapes from other people’s desk chairs as they left.
Leaving the reception, when you stepped out the rain that was forecasted earlier had come ten times harder than told in the weather news this morning.
Your umbrella was in your car, which was across the street.
“Oh my gosh…” you whispered angrily to yourself, watching the cloud.
Jim walked out a few seconds behind you, seeing that you were trying to drape your favorite cardigan over your head, now looking rather annoyed.
He could help but smile, seeing he could be the knight in shining armor.
“You want me to walk you?” Jim said to your right. You looked up slightly to see the sweet smile of Jim Halpert, holding a black umbrella in between the two of you.
You hummed, looking down to hide a smile. “Yes, please,” you whispered shamefully, “I didn’t know it was going to rain this hard…”
Jim laughed. “Nor did I. This is Michael’s umbrella,”
You gasped, your eyebrows furrowing. “Jim!” You said, about to tell him off.
With the happiest laugh you heard, Jim started chuckling, showing off his cute lopsided smile.
A warmth bubbled in your stomach, your heart beating ever so much faster.
“I’m just joking,” he said cheekily, “let’s go,”
The two walked in silence, you blushing like mad, Jim smiling like a goon. It was cute for the cameras to record.
Michael watched through the blinds with the cameras, sighing.
“Office romance: the sweetest kind of romance, in my opinion."

-> masterlist <-
You hadn’t been to Alexandria in, frankly, what felt like years.
It was actually just weeks.
With an alliance between Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria, things for the Saviours were trickier than ever. Most of the time Negan spent in his office, trying to decode the best play. You helped, of course, and were practically running yourself ragged trying to keep things together at the Sanctuary.
It felt like everyone knew what was happening. Or they expected it, were waiting for it. It irritated you to no end, that others would blatantly show their disbelief in your cause, in Negan’s cause.
And then there was Carl.
You missed him, which was weird. He had become a constant in your life, the arguing and fighting, the pushing and shoving. But now your relationship had crested into something else… and you didn’t hate it.
In fact, you quite enjoyed kissing Carl.
Not that you’d admit that. To him, to anyone. Nobody needed that amount of power over you.
“You can go to bed, doll.”
You looked up from your lap, where a book of supply schedules was scribbled down. You were seated on that long leather couch in Negan’s office, whilst he worked on god knows what. Hopefully a viable strategy.
“No, I’m fine.” You tell him, politely. Too politely.
Truth is, you were hanging on by a thread. But with no supplies from Alexandria, nor Hilltop, the situation at the Sanctuary was becoming dire. You were trying to figure out how to jig things around so that everyone could be satisfied, or maybe even rethinking the points system, making the imaginary economy more competitive.
“I’m serious,” Negan insists, “You don’t gotta be doin’ this shit. It’s below you.”
You roll your eyes, “Who’s gonna do it, then? Simon’s corpse?”
The sarcastic comment earns you a glare in return, which does make you feel a little bad. You’d watched the brawl firsthand, and had almost tried to help Negan, if not for Dwight holding you back. Either way, it didn’t matter, for Simon was eventually strangled to death.
Brutal, but fitting.
Maybe you were trying to fill that void. The line between right-hand man and teenage daughter was thinning.
Negan rose from his seat, coming over to stand in front of you. He didn’t even need to lean down, swiftly plucking the tattered notebook from your lap, to which you groaned and leaned back on the couch.
He inspected it, reading over the numbers and scrawled figures. “You’re doing this wrong.”
“Yeah, well, maybe you should start making your wives do the bookkeeping.” You grumbled, laying down on the couch in defeat.
Negan tossed the notebook onto the coffee table, sitting on the couch opposite you. “Doubt they can count past ten.”
It was a terrible thing to say, but got a smile out of you. It was difficult to be in a good mood on so little sleep, so the tiniest hint of happiness was well appreciated.
“When will we go to Alexandria again?”
You tried not to sound too interested in the question, but couldn’t help yourself, and needed to ask. Not for Carl, just for supplies. At least, that’s what you told yourself.
“Soon. Give it another week,” Negan confirmed, though his eyes said he knew something more. Awfully interested in that shithole, aren’t you?”
This caused you to roll over, onto your side, so you could glare over at the older man. “We need that shithole to survive.”
There was a playful glint on Negan’s face, the words earning a small laugh from him. “Maybe you do. Bet you’re just itchin’ for your little cyclops.”
The joke causes you to bristle, irritation rising as you hoist yourself from the couch, making a play for the door. On such little sleep, you weren’t in the mood to entertain being teased.
But Negan stopped you, that grin still on his face. “Hey, c’mon, doll. You know I’m just tryin’ to rile you up.” He admits, coming to a stand.
The glare remains, but at least you stop your escape, instead just standing near the door with your arms crossed. You’d likely give some defensive retort, but Negan is already speaking again.
“Everyone has their first crush at some point. I’m just surprised it took you this long.”
“I don’t have a crush,” You practically snarl. “I’m not twelve years old.”
“Okay, sorry. Not a crush,” Negan approaches slowly, like you’ll run off again, though is pleased when you stand still. “Sounds like it’s past your bedtime.”
Your nose scrunches up, eyes narrowed in offence as he continues to treat you like a child. But you know he’s just making a point to tease you, judging by that stupid grin on his face, so you try not to react.
His hands bracket your arms, giving you a little spin so that you’re facing the door. But now you sigh, turning back around, unable to just drop this conversation all together.
“You don’t care?” You ask. “Like, if I did have a crush, you don’t even mind? Not that I do, I’m just… wondering.”
Negan smiles, finding your half-confession quite adorable. “That’s what kids do, darlin’. Besides, the boy’s got his head on straight. Certainly got more balls than his father.”
You look down at the floor, a little pensive. “I don’t have a crush on Carl.” You reiterate, standing your ground, trying to sound firm in order to convince the both of you.
He seems to get the hint, understanding that maybe you don’t even know what’s going on. “I know, doll. Don’t stress it too much.” Negan drops the subject, letting his arm encase your back for a small squeeze before letting you go. “Go get some rest.”
You muster up a little smile, finally accepting the offer and scampering back off to bed. After all, you were exhausted, despite that inherent need to make yourself useful. Supply counts could wait.
It was a comforting space, your bedroom, one you retreated to whenever things got overwhelming. It was filled with photos and trinkets, candy stashed away in the drawers, all the things you didn’t have when growing up. It was your space.
That night, you fell asleep weighing the severity of simply going to Alexandria yourself. You passed out a few minutes into debating what transportation to take.
Fortunately, or, probably unfortunately, that wasn’t necessary.
For Alexandria had come to you.
Gunfire was a familiar sound to wake up to. Usually, it was a low-level squabble, or maybe one of the Saviours proving a point. Either way, it never lasted long.
But this time, there was shouting, and more bullets. It was enough to jolt you awake, pushing past that bleary state of consciousness and waiting, still, for it to continue.
It did.
You climbed out of bed with urgency, moving on autopilot as you threw on some jeans, not bothering to change from your sleep tank before bolting for the door.
Just as your fingertips brushed the bat, you realised it wouldn’t do. That gun was still locked away in the bottom drawer, so you reached for it, shoving a handful of bullets into your pocket before leaving.
Now, you’ve never been a very good shot. That’s why you preferred using the bat, or at the very least, hand-to-hand combat. You had terrible aim. But maybe now was the best time to fix that issue.
So, you made your way through the Sanctuary, swiftly stepping through hallways, gun at the ready. You were outside in minutes, the shouting becoming much clearer now, a voice you could recognise:
Rick Grimes.
“Fuck this..” You grumbled, growing irritated with this relentless back and forth. And now, they were in your home.
Another shot blew out the glass from above you, forcing you further against the wall, as the shards piled on the concrete. Some littered your skin, your shoulders bare, due to still wearing a tank intended for sleeping. You didn’t even have a bra on.
But there were worse problems, you supposed.
The gun felt heavy in your hands, fingers twitching around the trigger. Hopefully you wouldn’t have to use it, though that seemed like wishful thinking. You wondered where Negan was, yet believed he could handle himself. You and this gun were the main concern, a gun you had no idea how to use effectively.
You hid behind anything available, crouched down, trying to survey the surroundings. From here, you could see the scattered factions of makeshift soldiers, though Rick was now missing. You presumed he had a similar thought process to you: Negan.
That was fine, for now.
Clutching the gun tightly, you shifted into view, holding it outwards and discharging a shot into the distance. It echoed in the nearby vicinity, though there was too much gunfire to distinguish where it had came from, luckily. It didn’t seem to hit anyone.
What a waste.
“Hey!”
It was a whisper-shout, one clearly intended to gain your attention. You spun your head around, searching for the voice, amongst all the yelling and fighting taking place within your home. It took an embarrassing amount of time until you saw him.
Carl.
Thank fucking god.
He’d been watching you, on alert for your figure the second they arrived. He clocked your creeping approach into the battle field, ducking behind anything possible. It was almost amusing, the stark contrast in how you usually chose to fight, but made sense after you fired that hopeless shot.
You had no idea what was going on, assuming that Negan and Rick were off fighting, whilst a few Saviours tried to keep the rival gang at bay. Or gangs, plural. You guessed that speaking to Carl would be your best chance at getting a grip on the situation. That, and you weren’t in the mood for a defensive Saviour to shoot him.
So, you tried to get closer, looking left and right to make sure the coast was clear before ducking behind rubble or vehicles, anything to provide cover. Carl was used to fighting, sure, but felt slightly anxious for a reason he couldn’t pin. It was just a bad feeling, like something was not right.
This time, Carl called out your name, causing you to look up and at attention. He held out his hand, despite being meters away, a signal to come closer under the cover he’d found.
You clutch the gun tightly, safety off, poised at your side. But it’s difficult to see everyone, from this position, forcing you to inch out from behind the truck in order to get a visual.
Still holding out his hand, Carl waits, watching as you peek your head out.
Pop!
A shot fires, crackling in the distance, though it takes you down with a solid thud.

Yandere Billy and Stu (2/4)
“Dewey!” She cried out
Instinctively Dwight ran over to her. Immediately wrapping arms around the woman’s sobbing form, not letting go as her cries muffled against his jacket, he held her tightly. Shushing her quietly, “Y/n!” Tatum herself arrived right after her older brother, she shoved the male to the side and hugged you tightly. Police barged into the home, on search. “What happened?” Dwight was just as concerned as Tatum, hell from the screaming and crying they could already tell what had happened, not until heads turned around to see Billy.
“Officer-i didn’t do anything!” Billy declared, angrily wriggling against the grip of the officer along with the cuffs. He locked eyes with you it sent shivers down your spine how void of emotion they looked. “Y/n! Tell them-“ The officer had none of it before Billy was shoved into the back of the car. You were frustrated how so suddenly and coincidentally your best friend Sidney’s boyfriend just shows up at the window right after an attacker that didn’t last too long fortunately, Tatum looked you over. “Dwight-please she should stay with us for now!”
Tatum knew better than to leave you alone, no one deserved to grief the death of their friend and have the same person who killed her friend come after her aswell. Y/n dealt with it alone would only toll on the poor girl. Her hair was all messy and a bit matted, She needed a break, a real long break from everything, going back to their house, their mother welcomed you eagerly with open arms to stay over, Tatum had been in the bathroom, While Dwight had been fluffing the pillows as clumsily, he remembered copying Tatum when she made her bed. “You can stay with Tatum.” His words were comforting, you had hoped no one fell victim to the killer anymore afterwards. Tatum arrived back, looking at you. “Billy is such a freak.” She mumbled before she sat on the bed opposite of you. You looked at her from the plush pillow. “Other than..what he did just now,” You started. Tatum nodded, “I don’t trust him even with Sid you know?”
Sidney was your friend ever since you moved to woodsboro, she knew you before the whole ordeal, ever since Billy started dating her Tatum saw the way Billy would look at you. He was weird, but the mention of Sidney tugged your heart strings, you knew she went missing right after Casey. It left only you, Tatum, Dwight. Billy, Randy, and Stu, but you were more comfortable around your friend’s boyfriend than Billy. Stu always made you laugh, he was eccentric but you couldn’t help but feel unease under his gaze-
—
Morning came around as sun shone through the windows of Tatum’s house, the blonde woke up before you. Just as tired before both of you walked to school, she had an arm around you. “Hey Y/n?” You both got interrupted by the sound of Randy’s voice. The Moviestore geek smiled at you. Tatum rolled her eyes. “She doesn’t want to talk.” He frowned a bit before he got to your side. He saw you flash him a small smile, your hand entertwined with his.
Ever since you and Randy got well acquainted you hadn’t admitted the fact you had a crush on the boy, despite everyone really just casting him in a bad light as some psycho geek sometimes, with recent news of Billy being interrogated as of current in the office. It was why Dewey wasn’t here,
“You heard about what happened with that guy?” “Billy?” Randy wasn’t the biggest fan of billy, he continued “It’s like standard horror movie shit- i told you he’s the prime suspect” Tatum gave Randy a side glare, “Did they interrogate you aswell?” She turned to him, it was a light question.
“Why would they ask you if you like to hunt. “‘Cause their bodies were gutted.”
The sound of Stu’s voice startled everyone. But you saw the way his eyes focused on you. He sent Randy a glare that only he would see, “Hey buddy.” He mocked, looking him up and down. Randy just stared blankly, not fazed. He looked back at you, sending you a look only you could see. He didn’t like Stu. “Hey Stu didn’t you used to date Casey?” You spoke up, As you all settled near the fountain. “Yeah for like 2 seconds.” He chortled, “Before she dumped you for Steve” Randy leaned his head in and chimed for a second.
“I thought you dumped her for me?” Tatum asked, Stu nodded and looked at Randy again, “I did he’s full of shit.” Randy retorted, “Maybe you did kill her since she dumped you.”
“Stu was with me,” Tatum shifted closer to Stu, he nodded aswell, sending a sleazy grin to Randy not without glancing at you,
—
Moving to woodsboro was a hectic start back then. But it was a opportunity to have made friends since you had moved there at a young age you had forgotten your own home town of before, but ever since this ghostface fucked around the town. Whoever they were,
“Well everyone has those officer.” Billy declared, the male had been abandoned at the police station for interrogation. To everyone’s dismay as the sheriff checked a call record there was no proof of him ever calling anyone at all. Deep down he was happy in a twisted way. He saw everyone here a potential victim afterwards. He cleared the record. No one would get in between him and Stu and you.
Ever since Stu laid eyes on you, Casey’s friend. Albeit, him and Billy yes, well weren’t expecting it. They’re killers, not people meant to be lovers, but it was a thorough plan both males had been thinking about ever since, no one ever suspected them, if Billy could get his hands on you again..
——
Walking back home to Tatum’s house, she was out for a while, you remembered her telling you she needed to get a few things before she came back. Wandering alone in the house your mind swam with thoughts. You heard the telephone ring,
Anger bubbled into her as she thought about it. Her hands clenching onto the phone pulling it out of the receiver. “You son of a bitch!” The words came out with a flurry of emotions. She couldn’t hold back her hatred for this cruel killer, “Ah ah ah, that’s not how you great a friend, is it?” It sounded more grainy, whoever this was. No one would admit to give it to them the modulator being used for their voice was more to hide the evidence and identity of who they were. “We aren’t friends you ps-psycho!” And it couldn’t helpt but break into tears again, they had killed her friends, they had attacked her, she didn’t have her parents. What more could she do? She had hoped Tatum arrived soon. “Why the tears. Y/N?” They snarled on the phone angrily. “Fuck you!” The phone was shoved back into the receiver. Falling onto the floor breaking into wails.
T”Y/N!” Tatum’s eyes widened, the blonde rushed over to her sobbing friend’s side. She hugged her tightly and felt tears soaking her own shirt, “What’s wrong, Y/N? Was it him again?”
Tatum heard the phone ring again, she couldn’t let this happen, it can’t keep happening. Seeing her friend, who had nothing to do with this, who was innocent, to be toyed with like this, “T-tate-no!” She cried.
“Who the fuck is this? What the hell do you think this is some kind of joke?!”
Static was on the other side, this only got more out of hand by day. “Your protecting your dear little Y/N.”
“Tatum?” They taunted,

Bigger Problems
The Oni ( Dead By Daylight) x reader Warnings: SMUT - Size Kink - Slight Gore A/N: I don't usually write smut so please don't bash me for this shitty job but eat up I supposed
Your hands meticulously worked around the wires and tubes of the generator, trying desperately to get the thing running. It didn’t help that the Yamaoka estate didn’t provide any light so you just had to squint and hope you were putting together the correct wires.
THUD
THUD
THUD
THUD
You could hear the Oni’s large footsteps approaching where you were hard at work crouched over a generator and you could tell you were close to being done but you couldn’t stick it out. He was getting too close and he was fast approaching on your side of the generator, Sable on the other side trying her best to stick it out and make sure it got done. You gave her a sorry look before running off in the opposite direction that the large man was running. Looking back, you saw Sable being grabbed from the machine and thrown to the ground before the Oni swung down on her, crushing her head underneath his weapon, yelling furiously as he did so.
Tears brimmed the waterline of your eyes, threatening to spill over as you ran off to find another generator to work on. Dwight quickly ran off seeing you run up to the generator he was working on and you gave a tired huff, getting down on your needs in front of the big hunk of metal before finishing the work Dwight had started. You worked hard to make sure you got this one done in time, hearing the large killers footsteps stomping around all over the estate as you did so.
You listened to each and every one of your companions get picked off one by one, their screams filling the air before being replaced with the sound of the entity lowering its claw down to pick them up and return them to the campfire.
And then there was you.
“Please.. Please.” You wheezed out quietly trying to find the hatch to escape back with the others. Bamboo trees smacked you in the face and legs as you ran around the place, trying your hardest to find your sweet exit to safety. But, it seemed that fate had other plans. You heard the slamming of the hatch door slam down before sinking back down into the ground, disappearing like it was never there. The tears finally spilled over, running down your face, realizing that your chances of escaping were zero to none now.
You heard Oni’s angered yell once again as he rushed around as fast as he could to find you. You, on the other hand, were as quiet as a mouse, finally having reached one of the levers to the doors that led to your escape, you were almost there, almost had that door open when you realized it was too quiet now. Before you knew it, the stomps of the large man came rushing at you, a scream ripping out of your throat and the doors opening right then and there but it was too late. The Oni knocked your feet out from underneath you and you fell hard to the dirt, your head hitting the ground hard with a thud, your vision spinning for a split second before the vision of a large hand coming down to grab you came into view.
Oni reached down to pick you up, his large, calloused hands wrapping around your throat and lifting you up into the air. Your eyes met his own that once glowed under his mask but faded into something darker as a certain realization hit him that you seemed to understand in that same exact moment. It was as if time stopped in that moment, a heat filling your core as you noticed just how much you liked this. Being in the hands of this large man. At his mercy as he held your life in his palm. He stood there unmoving as you looked into his eyes with the same dark, hooded look he stared at you with, his body growing hotter as he stared at you. How small you were in his hands. How much bigger he was than you. He could truly do whatever he wanted with you and you didn’t protest. The man let you fall down to the ground, this time watching as you landed on your ass, an “oof” escaping your mouth as you landed. You looked up at him with a certain look in his eyes that made his breathing heavy.
You’re his favorite …
He swiftly bent down to pick you up, throwing you over his shoulder before storming off inside of the estate building that stood tall. He quickly made his way into one of the more comfortable rooms that showed less signs of decay and dropped you down again, softer this time. Your tights squeezed together as you watched him throw down his weapons and move his mask to rest comfortably above his lips. He quickly moved to take his armor off from around his large shoulder and chest, the only thing keeping him from being in the nude being his pants that now slightly fell to rest on his hips loosely, his v line teasing what gift waited for you underneath.
Large hands clawed at your clothes, ripping the shirt off of your figure before moving to your bra, revealing your chest. Your face turned red, the cold air hitting your chest and your nipples growing hard. You couldn’t tear your eyes away from him, though. He was so big above you, on his knees and working to get you undressed so he could have you just the way he wanted. Your chest heaved as you breathed hard, not believing what was happening.
The man quickly pulled your pants off, the ripped jeans being tossed off to the side of the room before he removed his own pants, tossing them off into the same direction. Oni pulled you over to him, setting you in between his legs, his hard length pressed up against your back. He was breathing heavily above you as he leaned his head down to press harsh kisses and bites to your neck, his large fingers sliding between your folds, your slick wetting his fingers before circling your clit carefully, starting off slow before getting rough. Your legs clenched together, his other hand reaching around to hold your legs open as he continued. You let out a loud moan at the feeling, quickly losing yourself to the sensation.
Once he had his fill of feeling you squirm against him, he slipped his fingers into you, two dipping into you and curling up to try and hit that bundle of nerves. He pumped in and out of you before adding a third finger, completely stretching you out to prepare you for his length that oozed precum down your ass. As his fingers continued to pump in and out of you, his other hand reached back around to grip his length, slowly starting to pump it. The tip was red and angry, the throbbing feeling of his cock becoming too distracting for him. Oni had enough of the foreplay, ready to take you and claim you as his. His little doll. He picked you up and turned you to face him, placing both hands on your hips and slowly sliding you down on his length. He gave you no time to adjust before thrusting into you, lifting his hips up into you slowly, admiring how small you were between his hands. Your hands flew up to rest on his chest, nails digging into his skin and moans spilling from your mouth, eyes clamped shut as you focused on the feeling of him filling you up to nice.
He stopped moving his hips up into you and used you, sliding you up and down his throbbing cock, loving how easy it was to move you up and down his length. The sounds. The sight. It was all so much. The Oni picked you up once more before slamming you against the wall of the room and letting loose. He slammed up into you with eager grunts, a white hot, pleasurable feeling making your legs go numb as he hit those bundle of nerves so perfectly deep inside of you. It made you go limp, the feeling so overwhelming. You let it take over your mind, your eyes rolling to the back of your head as you felt your climax quickly approaching. You could tell he was close too, his breathing unsteady and erratic, his thrusts becoming uneven and faltering.
You moaned out, your arms that were wrapped around his neck now pulling him close as you let go, cumming all over his length, the wet release dribbling down his length and dripping down onto the floor beneath you both. He continued his attack on your cunt before he came to a halt, feeling his hot release fill you to the brim before gushing out of you and falling down to the ground, mixing with your own release. He pumped into you a few more times before pulling out and doing his best to catch his breath.
He carefully placed you back onto the ground, laying your back carefully onto the bamboo mat that covered the ground. He quickly fixed his mask, putting his armor back on as you sluggishly put your own clothes back on, besides your shirt which you knew would be replaced by the entity when you left to go back to the campfire.
The Oni picked you up, holding you in his arms all the way back to the open gates. He looked down at you without a word and took a deep breath before putting you down and looking down at you before slowly back away, turning around to walk back into the estate away from the gates, leaving you alone. And while that may not have been the sweetest goodbye…
You knew round two was promised soon….

The Valentine's Question
AN: I figured this is during an early season but could be during any time of the snow
Warnings: Not beta read, fluff.
Summary: It’s Valentine’s Day and Jim has a question
You stuck your head out of the conference room to see if Jim was on a call. The optimist part of you hoped your crush wouldn't be busy and could help. The other part of you knew that if he was on a sales call, then he wouldn’t reject you because you wouldn't have to ask.
Phyllis and Angela roped you into the party planning committee and gave you the job of decorations. Sure you could have put the decorations up yourself (after finding a stepping stool or jumping), but asking Jim would give you some alone time with him and without Micheal or Dwight. Plus all the decorations had fallen to the floor.
Jim had his head down but was thankfully off the phone.
“Jim! Jimothy!” you hissed, using the nickname Micheal used on him once.
Jim turned around, facing Micheal's office door (which was fortunately shut) before he swivelled to the conference room. When he saw you his face lit up in a smile, which you quickly returned.
You jerked your head back, trying to get him into the conference room, before closing the door behind him.
“I help with the decorations,” you explained.
“Is the plan to have decorations on the floor? Because if so you’re doing great.” Jim teased kindly.
You slide the diagram Angela drew you over to Jim.
“The PPC was very specific about how the conference room should look.”
You tried not to notice how close Jim stood to you while he studied the digraph.
Grabbing the new pile of decorations you moved away from him, the close contact was too much.
“I can stand on a chair if you hand me the decorations?” you suggested hopefully. It was nice to be close to Jim but Angela was also scary.
Jim nodded in agreement and took the decorations into one of his arms while offering his free hand to help you onto the chair.
With a soft grunt, you got up on the chair and started taping the decorations to the wall.
A comfortable silence fell over Jim and yourself.
“Do you have any plans tonight?” He asked, breaking the silence.
“I’m sure if I play my cards right, then Angela will ask me to take down the decorations,” you said with a small laugh. “What about you, Halpert?”
“Think she’ll make me join if I mess up the theme?”
You both laughed at that, knowing how dramatic the party planning committee could be.
“She will if you keep putting the large hearts above the small ones! Seriously Halpert, get your head in the game.” you tease, not missing the slight blush on Jim's face.
‘Can I ask you something?” Jim said, voice more serious than before.
Concern immediately flooded your face.
“Of course,” you replied matching the tone of his voice.
Before Jim could ask you the question, Phyllis poked her head in to let you know there is an emergency PPC meeting.
You turned to see what the question was, but Jim demised you to go with her.
---
You found Jim later in the kitchen/break room during a quiet moment of the party.
“Are you seriously missing the party after all the hard work we did on the decorations?” you teased him again.
“You know, I got so exhausted I needed to take a break.”
You laughed.
“What was the question you wanted to ask?”
The tone shifted slightly. Jim toyed with the mug he was holding.
“I wanted to ask -” Jim started before being interrupted by Micheal holding a small bit of mistletoe. Earlier in the day you tried to tell Micheal that he was six weeks too late, but he insisted that it also fit Valentine’s Day. You and Jim duck out of the way of your boss before steering Micheal to try and kiss Dwight.
----
The party dragged on due to your anticipation of what Jim wanted to ask. It could be about sales or other regular work questions, but he would have kept asking when others interrupted.
Maybe if you got Jim alone you could ask him and finally get the question. Then you both would also be together on Valentine's day, even if it was just casually and as friends.
You timed your exit from work with Jims, so you would both be in the elevator alone. You were going to wait until you both were outside but you would rather talk to Jim where it was warm and dry.
Jim pushed the button for the ground floor, while you took a deep breath.
“Can I ask you something”
“I have a question”
You grinned as you both spoke in sync.
After waiting for a beat, you spoke first.
“Do you have any plans? My roommate is sick but she put a deposit down on dinner reservations and asked me if I wanted to take her reservation and bring someone. You don’t have to say yes! I’m sure she can find another two people to take her plans.” you said, rambling brought on by your nerves.
“Yes yeah! Sure” Jim replied, pink blush returning to his face.
“It’s at 6:30, I can pick you up around 6. If that works?”
“It’s a date!” Jim agreed.
You grinned, feeling the heat rise to your face.
The elevator dinged to signal that the ground floor was reached.
“Wait! What did you want to ask me?” temptation has gotten to you and you couldn't wait until your date to learn the question.
“Oh, that. I forgot. Something about paper probably”. Jim explained, even though he was going to ask you when you first entered the elevator.
“If you remember, you’ll tell me, right?” on our date you silently added.
“Absolutely.”
You and Jim pushed open the office building doors. It was unspoken between you two, but if you left at the same time he would always walk you to your car.
You pulled your car keys from your pocket, trying to drag the moment out.
“Hey! I remember the question” Jim said.
You turned around, so your back was resting on the driver's side door. Jim was closer than normal.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked softly. One of his hands moved to gently cup your face.
Your face broke into a grin as you pressed your lips against his.
Instead of verbally answering, you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him down towards you until his lips met yours.

Ambivalent Days
Jim Halpert x Trans Man Reader (PART TWO) Can be read alone, but I do reference part one, so read that HERE if you want to be caught up!
Summary: You’ve finally come out as trans to the entire office. It’s gone a lot better than expected. But now you’re faced with a serious problem- or rather, a serious crush. On none other than Jim Halpert, leading supporter of your transitions and quickly becoming your best friend in the office. But are you willing to risk that friendship just for some silly little feelings?
Tags: FtM!reader, Gay!Jim (for narrative reasons, I think i wanted him to be bi in the first part but switched it around, whatever), implied gay!reader (all i said was ‘not straight’), trans supporter Dwight, peacekeeper!Pam, supportive!Kelly Kapoor, bisexual!Kelly, drinking in moderation, happy ending Warnings: Michael being absolutely ridiculous and attention-hungry to the point that he does bad things (so, like, normal episode?), some general swearing
A/N: This has been requested so many times, both in asks and requests. I’ll try my best to tag everyone who asked for this, sorry if i forgot any! I was excited to write this because I loved the first part, but figuring out where to start was the trickiest part. I hope you all enjoy! (this entire fic ended up just writing itself once i got going. I had no clue what i was gonna do until it happened so… enjoy lol)
Life was great, working as a Customer Service representative for Dunder Mifflin paper company. Wow, you never thought you’d say such a thing, but it really has become something appealing, something that had you smiling and willing to come to work every single day. Of course, it had its own ups and downs, times when you felt overwhelmed or frustrated at certain people. You still ended up enjoying the majority of the day, and sometimes the rough days turned out to end up better than the rest.
It had absolutely, wholeheartedly nothing to do with James Duncan Halpert, otherwise known to his work colleagues as ‘Jim.’ You continued to lie to yourself, nodding along to this thought process on your drive to work. It was rainy, just like most days, and you were bored out of your mind waiting in the traffic. You just enjoyed going to work, because… Because of all of your friends, that’s why! Sure, that might include Jim, but that also included Pam, and Oscar, and god forbid, even Dwight. He’s certainly grown on you over time, having completely accepted your identity, even defending you against anyone who said anything. You couldn’t be sure, but you suspected that Dwight had even lost a customer through those actions- but when Mr Dellicker had called for customer support and you had answered the phone, saying his name out loud, Kelly had rushed around the divider and ripped the phone from your hand, immediately transferring it to her own phone. You tried to listen in, curious why this was so important to her, but you kept hearing her say the same thing over and over.
“Thank you for your consideration, but we no longer want your business with us. I completely understand that you think so, but we no longer want your business with us. While that may or may not be true, this whole conversation is futile considering we no longer want your business with us.”
Mr Dellicker had become a hushed topic around you, but you had managed to catch a private whisper among your friends one day when he was brought up again. They’d ask Kelly if he had called yet, and she assured the situation was handled. Pam had whispered, “I can’t believe some people’s views on trans people. It makes no sense.” So, while it wasn’t likely due to you specifically, you were almost sure that you were the only trans person they knew. If they were defending trans people, they were defending you alongside it all.
You pulled into the parking lot finally, shaking your head to rid yourself of those thoughts. Mr Dellicker’s whole deal had been a problem a month ago and was no longer an issue. You shouldn’t dwell on those thoughts, you weren’t likely to ever have to worry about it again. You managed to snag a semi-decent parking space. It was only the second from the front, but it happened to be right next to Michael’s own car, and as you placed your car into park, you glanced over to notice he was still sitting there. You tilted your head in confusion, watching for a moment.
You couldn’t tell if he was psyching himself up, or singing along to one of his weird songs. He seemed ready to open the door, then leaned back once more without actually doing it. He lowered the visor on his car, flipping open the little door to reveal his mirror and looking at himself in it. He continued, probably, speaking to himself, and you just shook your head and decided to leave it be. You reached for your suitcase and umbrella, then began making your way inside.
You were stuffing your umbrella into the little holder by the door after you entered the office, taking off your long overcoat and hanging it on the coat rack by Pam’s desk. She smiled, asking about what you did over the weekend, and you answered that you didn’t really do much besides binge the next season of your current obsession. You agreed to tell her about it later, moving toward the break room for your normal cup of tea. You pat Jim on the shoulder on the way, and he reaches up quickly to touch your hand before you slip by. It causes a smile to cross your face as you continue on your path, a happy feeling welling up inside.
“I. Am a girl.” You spin around quickly, eyes widening in fright. There stood Michael Scott, wearing a short, pleated pink skirt with his normal yellow button-down dress shirt, as well as a crooked ginger wig that he had most definitely not been wearing in his car. The room falls completely quiet, and you hear two people put their calls on hold. Jim stands, and you can’t see his face from this perspective, but you hear a hardness in his voice.
“Michael, this is not a funny joke-”
“It’s not a joke!” Michael yells out, crossing his arms. He purses his lips before speaking again in a higher tone. “I’m a girl, and so I decided to say it. That I am.” He looked around the room as if expecting something, but no one moved a muscle. Pam broke the silence, clearing her throat and talking in a tone that was both cautious and unbelieving.
“Alright, so what would you like us to call you, then?” Michael sputtered at the question, throwing his hands outward and looking around the room again. His eyes settle on me, and Jim sidesteps to block off his vision. You can no longer see Michael, but the image of him has burned into your mind anyway. You could feel yourself panicking, your heart trying to beat its way out of your chest. This had to be a prank right? He was making fun of you? Now? After all this time?
“What do you mean- Y/N didn’t change his name when he came out!”
“This has nothing to do with Y/N,” Jim quickly tries to interrupt him after hearing your name, but you heard his sentence all the same. Jim walked closer to Michael, leaning down to whisper, but even you could still hear his words in the silence your boss caused. “How about we talk this out privately and continue this announcement later?”
“But-”
“I think that’s a fantastic idea, Jim,” Pam calls out quickly, circling her desk and corralling Michael into his office. He was putting up a fight, but not much of one. Jim followed closely behind, closing the door behind him. You could see multiple faces turn to look at you- as their current entertainment had been dragged away- out of the corner of your eye, but you were still there, shell-shocked. Before you realized what you were doing, you were standing directly outside Michael’s office door, peeking around the side to look in through the window. You could hear them talking still, considering the rest of the office was waiting to see what you would do.
“No, no, no!” Michael yelled out, plopping down into his seat. “I’m serious about this you guys!”
“Alright, let’s assume you are,” Pam begins, but Jim looks at her with an aggravated look.
“Pam-”
“Let’s assume you are,” Pam repeats, pushing Jim away and leaning closer to Michael. “How did you come to this decision?”
“I-” Michael hesitates, looking at his computer, then back to Pam. “Well, I really like girls a lot.”
“Sure, sure, but sexuality and gender are different.”
“I know that, Pam! God!” Michael starts flipping random pens on his desk, trying to distract himself. “I just like their clothes a lot.”
“You like to wear the clothes, or see them on women?”
“See them-” He stops, looking up to her. “I mean, wear them! Yeah, that’s what it is!” His stuttering and determination caused Jim to huff in a humourless laugh, no longer just standing by.
“What’s really going on here Michael?”
“And,” Michael begins, ignoring Jim’s question, “What was that question about what I wanted to be called? Y/N didn’t change his name when he came out?”
“Sure,” Pam agrees, trying to maintain the peace, “But Michael isn’t a very feminine name. Doesn’t that make you feel a little, I don’t know, dysphoric?”
“What does that word mean?” Michael asks, causing Jim to huff again, moving forward to slam his hands onto the table.
“What is really going on here, Michael?”
“Fine!” Michael yelled out, throwing up his hands, his fake hair swinging around wildly. “I don’t think I’m a girl! I don’t like wearing dresses or skirts or-” He spits, swatting away the fake hair that had managed to catch itself in his mouth, “And I’m so uncomfortable in this,” He pulls the wig off finally, throwing it onto the ground. He stands next, reaching for the skirt he was wearing, “Or this-”
“No, no, no!” Pam calls out quickly, keeping him from ripping the skirt off in front of them. “I’ll fetch you your spare pair of pants here soon, it’s at the desk. Just,” She sighs, shaking her head, “What could’ve possibly made you think this was a good idea, Michael?”
“Well!” Michael huffs, pouting as he sits back down. “Y/N got all sorts of attention when he came out. He became cool, and popular, and now I’m not even allowed to make jokes about him! Everyone hates me now, he took my thunder!”
“You can still make jokes about him,” Pam continues cautiously, raising her hands up in a plea to calm him down. “Just, not about the fact that he’s trans.”
“My thunder Pam!”
“This is fucking ridiculous,” Jim begins, reaching forward and grabbing hold of Michael’s shirt. “That stunt you pulled was mean-spirited and heinous. Do you have any idea how you could’ve made Y/N feel? How hard it was for him, not only to accept himself for who he is but to become confident enough in himself to come out to the entire office? Do you realize how much you probably just put him back?” Michael’s face was terrified, and Pam was too stunned at this action to do anything at first. By the time Jim was done talking, she reached forward quickly and pulled him back.
“Jim, that’s unnecessary.”
“I feel it was completely necessary, Pam.”
“He doesn’t realize what he’s doing, he just wants attention.”
“He gets attention every single day Pam! He demands it, hell, he goes out into the office and-”
“Jim,” Pam interrupts, nodding toward Michael. You watch Michael visibly sniff, raising a hand to rub at his nose.
“No, no, he’s right. I’m a nuisance, everyone hates me.”
“No one hates you, Michael,” Pam starts, and Jim scoffs.
“You’re babying him.” She shoots him a threatening look, and he just shakes his head and crosses his arms. Pam moves closer to the desk, looking down at Michael.
“Hey,” When Michael looks up, his eyes are red and glossy. “What you did just now, was that a good idea?”
“No,” He whines out, drawing out the vowel.
“Good, that’s the correct answer. And why was it a bad idea, Michael?” He huffs again, moving to play with a different toy on his desk and avoiding her eyes.
“Because I lied for attention.”
“And?”
“Because I probably made Y/N feel bad. And Jim.”
“So what are you going to do?” Pam asks, and you can’t see her expression but Michael finally meets her eyes and breathes in a deep breath.
“I’m going to tell everyone that it was a horrible prank and that I’m sorry.”
Even Jim startles at this, both Pam and Jim- even you, yourself- having never actually heard Michael apologize for one of his many failed pranks or skits. Pam straightens up, glancing quickly at Jim before looking back. Her voice was full of surprise as she nods, “That’s right. That’s completely right, actually. Good job Michael.” You could see him smile before looking down at his lap, then back up at Pam.
“Can I do it after I change?”
“Of course,” Pam moves quickly to the door, and you don’t think fast enough to move out of the way. The door swings open wide and you are revealed to be standing there, right outside of it. All three occupants turn to look at you with varying expressions, but they all share a similar surprise. You swallow hard, locking your eyes with Michael. You are about to speak but can feel eyes digging into your back, so you take a few steps into the office, past your two friends.
“What you did just now,” You begin, sucking in another deep breath, “Was horrifying- for everyone involved. I’m sure we want to see you in a skirt just as much as you want to be in one.” You lean forward onto the desk, watching Michael shrink away from you. “But let me ask you, how does it feel to wear that skirt?”
“What?” He looks startled at the question, looking to Jim and Pam for help. None arrived for him.
“How does it feel, wearing that skirt? Why aren’t you wearing a blouse with it? Couldn’t find one that fit, or did it feel too uncomfortable? What about the hair?” You nod down to wear the wig laid on the ground. “Was it annoying? Kept getting caught in your mouth, right? Drooped in front of your face, obscuring your vision?” You leaned forward, your breath coming out harsher. “Imagine you had breasts attached to you- and push past your sexuality. Imagine you had them and they couldn’t be removed.” You whisper this last part, your own eyes tearing up. “How would you feel?’
You hear Jim say your name softly behind you, realizing what you were referencing. Michael shook his head for a few seconds before he stopped, widening his eyes. You nod, continuing your speech. “Yeah, exactly.” You lean back, picking your hands off of his desk to rest by your side. “That’s how I feel every single day. Or, did. Until I came out.” You take a deep breath, steadying yourself. “I became confident because I was finally comfortable with who I was. I’m sorry if you can’t find that confidence in yourself. But don’t try to steal mine. Don’t make a mockery of my struggles.” You turn, heading toward the door, toward your desk- to anywhere but here. But Michael’s voice stops you before you’re able to leave.
“I’m sorry, Y/N.” You turn, looking into his eyes. He seemed genuine, but you knew he didn’t really understand.
“Think about why you are. Then get back to me.”
You pushed your way past Pam, who stood in the doorway with shock and pain written across her face, and ignored Jim’s call of your name as you kept going. You wanted away from these stares, this was not what you meant by loving this damned office. You continued past the breakroom, ignoring your daily cup of tea. You enter into your side of the annexe, seeing Kelly on the phone and hearing a whispered but high-pitched, “What? No! He didn’t?” Before she suddenly looks up, widens her eyes, and quickly says, “Gotta go,” Before slamming the phone down. You sigh and walk around the divider, taking your seat.
Kelly has more social sense than most people in the office, you’ve come to realize. It was why she had applied for customer service- unlike you, who had just taken up an ad from the newspaper. So, she knew better than to try to ask you what happened. She remained quiet on her side of the partition, something that was extremely odd, and it almost felt like you were in your own little world, in your tiny corner. Your desk was pressed against two walls, and the partition blocked the other two sides except for the small gap for your entrance. The partition walls weren’t very high, but sitting down they reached above your head. You felt isolated- something you first loved, then hated, and now feel grateful for once again. It gives you time and privacy to calm down.
After some time, you hear a throat clear nearby, and Kelly’s chair roll as she likely stands to leave. You look up at the top of your divider, waiting for a face to come into view. Luckily, it’s Jim’s face. He smiles softly at you, and you can tell he’s trying to keep the pity from his face, but it's not working very well.
“You didn’t make your tea?” He raises a cup- your favourite cup, no less, that no one else has used since your incident with Dwight- and offers it to you. “I figured I’d make you some. Can’t go a day without your tea, right?” You can tell he was trying, and it warmed something inside of you. Trying for a smile, you reach out to take the cup, taking a sip. It was made perfectly.
“I’m sorry about that,” You begin, sighing and placing the cup aside. “I kinda went a little overboard, didn’t I?”
“Not at all,” Jim rushes to comfort you, circling the divider completely to be inside your little cube. He rests himself against your desk, looking down at you with earnest eyes. “If anyone was overboard, it was Michael.” You just shrug, looking away.
“I mean, what did I expect, really? Everyone in the office has been so good about the whole thing. Ever since I’ve come out, it's been nothing but positivity.” You bite your lip, shrugging. “This office isn’t exactly a positivity-friendly environment.”
“You being trans should have no bearing on your workplace,” Jim insists, leaning forward toward you. “I know the world is fucked, but I want to make sure that at least your world isn’t.” You huff a laugh, shaking your head.
“Oh, c’mon Jim. Don’t be too hard on yourself.” You look up, meeting his eyes with a self-deprecating smile. “It’s not like it's because of you that all of this ended up so easy until now.” Jim’s eyes widen slightly, then wander away as he wiggles his head and bites his lip. You wait for him to agree, then narrow your eyes. “You… Didn’t tell everyone to be nice to me, did you?”
“Well,” He begins, drawing out the word and wincing. “I didn’t quite do that. But I did explain that they shouldn’t act any different, what jokes they shouldn’t make about it, and to look something up before asking any questions. If they couldn’t find the answer online, then they could ask me, and then I would allow them to ask you.” You blink a few times, tilting your head.
“But no one ever asked me anything?” He nodded along, sucking his lips inside his mouth before popping them, sighing.
“Yep.”
“Did they have questions?”
“Oh,” Jim scoffs, laughing. “So many.” He places his hands between his knees, palms together. You couldn’t help but laugh with him.
“Like what?” You feel curious but also dread at the prospect.
“Oh, y’know,” Jim shrugs, moving to mess with some pens on your desk idly, not meeting your eyes. “Just the usual dumbest shit on the planet. I told them all they were absolutely not allowed to ask you, of course, and had to explain why sometimes.” You nodded along, huffing out another laugh.
“I suddenly don’t want to know.”
“Oh, no, you really don’t.” You laugh softly along with him, feeling your chest bloom open, your crush developing further. For the second time today, you were moving before realizing you decided to. You stood, then reached forward and pulled Jim into a hug. He had straightened when he noticed you standing, then stood stiff as you wrapped your arms around his shoulders. You hesitated, about to pull away when Jim moved quickly, wrapping you in his arms and pulling you in tighter. You relaxed once more, laying your head against his chest and closing your eyes.
“Thank you, Jim,” You whisper, turning your nose to brush against his dress shirt. He smelled clean, with a hint of cologne that you couldn’t place. His arms were warm and strong- comforting in a way that you hadn’t felt in so long. He moved one of them up, cupping the back of your head as he straightened up more, pulling you in closer.
“It’s nothing,” Jim stutters out, and you can hear his heart beating under your ear. “Someone’s gotta make sure these folks don’t chase you away.” You laugh, leaning back to look him in the eye. He seems sincere, solemn, as he adds, “I think I would be devastated if you quit.” You chuckle once more, shaking your head as you pull away.
“Oh, I’m sure.”
“No,” Jim lowers his head, trying to catch your eye once again. “I’m completely serious. You are probably the only reason I still show up.” He laughs, shaking his head. “I mean, I’m this old and stuck in this job?” You laugh along, shaking your head.
“You make good money here, Halpert, don’t deny it.” You feel slightly upset you had pulled away from the hug so soon, but you had to look at him after he said that. You had to see if he was serious- Jim is hardly ever serious, always joking around. It was part of the reason your crush developed so fast, and also why it’d always remain a secret. He was so funny, making you laugh constantly. But he was also a bit of a jokester, and you didn’t know if he had a serious bone in his body. Today was showing he certainly did.
You weren’t sure if you’d be able to handle it.
You both spend some more time chatting, and his presence is a balm that soothes your panicked heart. He tries his best to make you laugh- which you do, often- and you finish your morning cup of tea in the meantime. You were sure you could’ve talked to him forever if only your phone hadn’t rung. You shrug with helplessness, reminded that you’re technically at work and still have a job to do. You reach to pick up your phone, apologizing to Jim who waves you off. You watch him walk away as you answer the phone, “Dunder Mifflin paper company, customer service representative speaking.”
It ended up being a quick call, with someone complaining that their shipment was late. You only had to find their account to let them know that the delivery was scheduled for today and the time. Once you placed the phone back in its slot, you raised your cup to your mouth before remembering it was empty. ‘Eh, might as well,’ You think to yourself, pushing to stand and make your way to the breakroom. Kelly is back at her desk as you circle around, and you make sure to say a soft greeting to her to make up for your earlier rudeness. She says a polite and short greeting back with a gentle face, still conscious of your rough morning.
You’re about to pull the door to the breakroom open when you notice the back of Jim standing at the counter. He was hefting a freshly brewed pot of coffee, and you couldn’t help but stand there and watch his arm flex as he hefted it with no problem. You didn’t see the other door open, but suddenly Kevin was walking directly into Jim’s space.
“I have another question.” Jim sighs visibly, shaking his head.
“Haven’t I told you enough-”
“No, this is a different question, Jim!” Kevin seems adamant, and after Jim puts the coffee pot away he takes a side step to regain some personal space. “And you said yesterday there’s a limit of stupid questions I’m allowed to ask a day so I couldn’t ask yesterday!”
“You have until I finish making my coffee.” You’ve never seen Jim quite so indifferent and snappy before, raising your curiosity. For some reason, you still stood there, barely peeking through the window of the door, still holding your empty cup.
“Ok, so if he still wanted breasts-”
“Nope.” Jim was already shaking his head, stirring sugar into his coffee.
“Alright fine, but also. Can he sow a penis-”
“Nope.” Kevin huffs in frustration, flapping his arms for a split second.
“Why do you keep saying no to all of my questions?” Jim finishes stirring his coffee, placing the spoon in the sink and turning to look directly at Kevin finally.
“Because all of these questions are way too personal.”
“How are they personal?” You tilt your head, furrowing your brow. How would they not be personal? Jim seems frustrated, running his free hand through his hair.
“You can’t just ask someone about their breasts or genitals, Kevin. You wouldn’t want anyone asking about your dick.”
“Actually, it’s kinda itchy-”
“Nope!” Jim pushes away from the bar, leaving immediately. You’re stuck between sympathy for both of them. You don’t think Kevin actually knows any better at this point, but you also just felt too awkward to even try to come up with an answer to those questions. However, were these the types of things that Jim had to put up with daily just to vet the office for you? Why would he put himself through all of that?
“He’s really trying, you know?” You startle from your thoughts, turning to look at Kelly still sitting in her rolling chair. You tilt your head in confusion, but also shifted on your feet, hoping to play off the fact that you’d been standing there this whole time.
“Who?” Kelly just gives you a look you can’t quite decipher, continuing.
“Jim, obviously.” She sighs, pushing herself away from her desk and standing. “He’s even asked me for help on occasion. Little things here and there, but he recruits the allies where he can find them.” You purse your lips, leaning back against the wall next to the door, crossing your arms while holding your cup upright still.
“Asked you for help? Doing what? Who else has he asked?”
“I knew you’d figure it out at some point, I just didn’t think it’d be when someone slipped through his fingers. Though, Michael is pretty unpredictable like that.” She shrugs with a smile like she’s trying to hold back a laugh. “His main ask for me was just to intercept anyone trying to bother you- most likely to ask the dumb questions. I just had to send them right back through the breakroom over to Jim’s desk.”
“Did that happen often?” She shrugs again, wiggling her head.
“Not often, but a few times. Mainly Kevin, he has a lot of questions.” You nod, glancing briefly toward the breakroom’s door before resting your eyes on her once more. You study her posture, then try to make a guess.
“The other was Mr Dellicker, wasn’t it?” She winces but nods nonetheless.
“He was a real ass.” She sighs dramatically, moving to lean against the wall next to you and bunching up one of the random, typical office posters that hang around throughout the floor. “He was Dwight’s client, actually. The moment Dwight heard him be even a small bit transphobic, he hung up the phone. This, of course, caught Jim’s attention. I mean, have you ever known Dwight to drop a client? Like, ever?” You shake your head in agreement, and she nods with you. “Yeah, right? Anyway, Jim asks, Dwight answered. To Dwight, that was the end of the entire thing. To Jim, however,” Her smile begins growing as she leans closer to you, “Well, he knew that Mr Dellicker would call back to complain. And who would be picking up the phone?”
“Customer service,” You mumble, absorbed into her story.
“Exactly!” She giggles now, unable to hold it back. “It was adorable, really, the way he begged me to make sure I took his call. He actually asked me to call the man first, but I told Jim I wouldn’t go out of my way just to aggravate someone who, as far as we knew, wouldn’t be calling back after such a rude hang-up. But he wouldn’t let up, so I agreed to keep an ear out.” She huffs now, widening her eyes with a far-off look. “Good thing I did, too. He was such an ass.”
“Thank you,” You say softly, bringing her back to the present. She tries to brush it off but you just shake your head, placing a hand on her arm. “No, not just for Mr Dellicker. For agreeing to help out at any point, just for me. For not making a big deal about my whole coming out, for never treating me any different or- just-” You hesitate, shaking your head. “Just everything, Kelly. You’re an amazing coworker.” You watch her eyes begin to water, and she lets out a wet laugh.
“Wow,” She raises her hands, wiping the corners of her eyes. “You’re going to make my makeup run.” She pushes up from the wall, circling you and entering into the breakroom, heading straight for the girls’ bathroom. You widen your eyes at this reaction, unsure, but take a deep breath and enter into the breakroom yourself. You still had some tea to brew.
You didn’t mean to idle, standing near the exit of the breakroom toward the annexe, but stuck in place watching Jim lean against Pam’s desk through the door’s window on the other side of the room. They were talking back and forth- a lot of laughing involved- and you couldn’t quite place the feelings whirling in your chest. It felt similar to jealousy, but you knew that wasn’t it. Envy? That perhaps she was his type, and not you after your transition? Insecurity?
You startle as Jim suddenly meets your eyes, watching him straighten up quickly. You try to act nonchalant, moving out of his line of sight to grab your lunch from the fridge, and sitting at the break room table. You’d finished your second cup of tea hours ago, and you were a tad overdue for your lunch break considering you had a whole host of emails that you usually respond to in the morning, but had to answer during your second cup of tea since you’d been just a tad distracted that morning. You bite your lip as the events from that morning fly through your mind, a whole host of emotions attached to them.
The door across the room opens, stopping your train of thought in its tracks. Jim walks in with a smile, moving toward the fridge. “Hey,” He greets you, scanning you with his eyes while you just sat there, slowly removing your lunch from its brown paper bag. “Was starting to worry you’d forgo lunch.” You laugh, then proceed to explain your lateness. As he sets his own lunch on the table, you begin to wonder if he waited for you. Then your eyes flicker back toward the door you’d been staring at him through.
“So, how’s Pam?” Jim seems a bit taken off guard at the question, turning to look at the door himself before looking back to you. He shrugs, taking his own lunch out of his lunch box.
“Uh, good, I guess?” He raises his sandwich, ready to take a bite before hesitating and adding on, “She’s excited to hear about that one show you mentioned this morning.” You nod along, watching as he begins to eat his sandwich. You take your own small bite, looking toward the door again.
“She’s cute, isn’t she?” Jim’s eyebrows furrow immediately, and you watch him swallow. He seems to be planning his actions in his head before he performs them, placing his sandwich down.
“What?” He looks around the room aimlessly, wiggling his head. “I mean, yeah of course. She’s cute.”
“You two get along really well.” At this he chuckles, shrugging.
“We’ve worked together for a long time.” You both fall silent, taking more bites of your food. Jim breaks the silence with a resounding, “I’d probably have developed a crush on her by now if I wasn’t gay.”
Gay.
You end up lightly choking on your bite from surprise, playing it off with a cough and a sip of your water bottle. You can see Jim staring down at his sandwich at the table, taking a deep breath. “So, I can see why someone would develop a crush on her. If he was straight.” He glances briefly up at you, then back down to his sandwich. You tried your damndest to keep the look of shock from your face, that it takes an extra minute before you understand what he’s not saying. Did he think you were asking because you had a crush on Pam? You take another sip of water, letting your eyes wander away from him.
“Yeah, same.” Out of the corner of your eye, Jim glances up at you quickly, a look of concentration on his face that indicates his thoughts roaming a million miles an hour. You shrug for show, moving your own food closer so you can take a bite once you finish speaking. “I’d probably have developed a crush as well if I was straight.”
You only recognized the signs of Jim choking since you’d just gone through the same thing, as the man turns to cough into his arm as if to play it off. At least the poor man hadn’t been chewing food like you were. By the time Jim finished drinking from his own bottle, and moved to lean forward and say something, he was interrupted by the door opening and someone entering inside. He leans back, looking self-conscious, and you feel such a deep curiosity about what he was going to say that it burns in your chest. You don’t even register who walked in until she was taking a seat right next to you.
“I don’t know how you can stand it, Jim,” Kelly begins softly, and you look at her with confusion. Kelly never talks softly? “Working right next to the receptionist's desk all day. How do you get any work done?” Jim’s eyes flicker between you and Kelly, clearing his throat.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, she’s so hot!” You and Jim meet eyes suddenly, listening to her continue to talk in a soft voice. No wonder, considering she was essentially coming out to the both of you. “When I first started and had to work over in that area, I was getting nothing done. Toby had to ask me what was wrong, and I sorta kinda told the truth that I was extremely distracted. He moved me to the annexe-” She pauses here, resting a hand on your arm with a sympathetic expression, “Sorry, Y/N, that’s why you’re confined back here as well.” You shake your head quickly, rushing in.
“No, it’s fine. I like it back here.”
“You do?” Jim asks with a smirk, and you give him a look essentially saying ‘Shut the fuck up Halpert I’m trying to console her.’ He just laughs noiselessly, his chest shaking as he moves to take another gigantic bite of his sandwich.
“Anyway, it’s so distracting. I had to go get something copied and I stood there an extra five minutes trying not to stare too directly at her. Oscar literally had to nudge me and remind me what I was doing!” She groans, letting her head fall onto the table. “So embarrassing.”
“Oscar knows?” You ask gently, unsure whether she actually realized she told you both. She lifts her head with a sigh, seemingly unfazed.
“Well, yeah. Oscar knows about everyone.” You hear Jim scoff softly, mumbling quietly under his breath.
“Not everyone.” This only causes Kelly to raise an eyebrow at Jim, smirking with humour.
“Oh, he knows about everyone, Jim.” His head was quick as it whipped toward Kelly, leaning in.
“Wait, what?”
“I mean,” She shrugs, glancing toward you briefly before meeting his eyes again. “You’re kinda obvious, Jim.” You can see his eyes widen, but you only feel confusion.
“Wait, how many people are gay in this office?” Kelly only shrugs, refusing to meet your eyes.
“Not my place to say.” You nodded along, obviously that being true. You meet Jim’s eyes once again, and you can see red peppering his cheeks.
“I’m sure it’s fine, Jim.” He nods as if agreeing, flicking his eyes between you and the rest of his sandwich throughout the rest of lunch. Kelly takes the initiative in the ensuing silence, talking about everything yet nothing at the same time. Just as you and Jim are both cleaning up to get back to work, Kelly sighs loudly with an eyeroll before looking toward you and plastering on a smile. The look only made you feel wary.
“So, Y/N, what are your plans for after work?” You swallow roughly, glancing at a wide-eyed Jim, then back to her.
“Uh, nothing really?”
“Oh,” She draws out, reaching forward and placing a flirty hand on your arm. “So you’re free tonight? Want to go out for drinks?” You stutter, pulling away from her arm, your head already shaking as you try to come up with an excuse. ‘Didn’t she just say that she found Pam attractive? What the hell is going on?’
“Uh, Kelly-” Jim tries to intercept, but she pulls away as if nothing happened, shrugging.
“I just meant with the lot of us. Jim will be there too, won’t you Jim?” She looks directly at him, raising her eyebrows as if she was expecting something from him. You look between the two as an awkward silence settles before Jim startles, trying (and failing) for a normal smile.
“Oh! Those drinks!” Jim laughs awkwardly, looking back and meeting your eyes. “Yeah, we’re all going out for happy hour at Poor Richard’s Pub, you should join us!” You relax slightly as Jim was the one offering, no matter how weird this entire interaction ended up being.
“Oh, uh,” You hesitate, still slightly wary. There’s obviously something you’re missing here. “I mean, sure. I have nothing else to do. Who all will be there?”
“Just a couple people from the office,” Kelly quickly answers, standing and moving to throw her own trash away. She turns to look at both you and Jim, still sitting in your chairs. “Well, c’mon! We have work to do, people!”
“I know why I’m sorry now.” You startle at your desk, turning to look directly at Michael Scott with wide eyes. You hadn’t even heard him approach. He circles around your desk, motioning for you to stop your work as he leans against your desk- an unknowing imitation of Jim that morning. “If you’re willing to listen?”
You can feel yourself swallow roughly, the beginnings of a familiar panic starting in your chest. You’re unsure what to say, so you just nod. He nods as well, taking a deep breath before continuing. “At first, I had no clue what you meant. I knew I was sorry, and I knew it was because I had hurt you.” He looks into your eyes, regret deep within his own. “But that wasn’t enough for you. So I started thinking.” He chuckles softly, leaning back on his hands and letting his own gaze roam the walls behind your desk. “And when that didn’t work, I remembered something Pam said when she tried to play along with my- well, yeah. A certain word I didn’t recognize. Dysphoric.”
You feel yourself tense, suddenly remembering the tightness around your chest where the binder lays under your clothes. You can feel the tie around your neck like it was trying to choke you. Michael, unaware of your inner struggles, continues on. “That search was enlightening- it was like everything you had expressed to me. And everything I had felt, trying on those clothes.” He hunches inward, his expression becoming stormy. “I felt so wrong wearing that skirt. And you were right- I had tried a blouse on. I bought one at the store that fit and even brought it home, but it just felt so weird when I tried to walk out of the door with it on. So I switched to my normal shirt.
“Then I was sitting in the parking lot, and I knew that the moment I placed my foot out of my car, everyone would see the skirt. I was-” He laughs humourlessly, shaking his head. “I was terrified. I tried to ignore it- like it was just stage fright, something I had to talk myself into.” You began to nod, intrigued by his story. “I don’t know how I convinced myself to get out of the car- I guess something along the lines of, ‘Well, I’m the boss. The ship will sink without me in there.’” He takes a deep breath, patting his legs loudly. “Anyway, I was jealous.” He shrugs, looking at you with wet eyes. Was he really getting emotional over this? “I mean, you did kinda steal my birthday away from me.”
Memories of that night flash quickly through your head. You’d come out during a party- a party you didn’t know the purpose of. That pink quinceañera cake… You didn’t get to taste it, but they could’ve gotten it because it was his favourite flavour? You hadn’t even seen Michael there. Was he trying for a grand entrance? Memories from this morning flash through your mind’s eye, Michael yelling at Pam, ‘He stole my thunder! My thunder, Pam!’
“It wasn’t planned, Michael,” You try to assuage, wincing despite yourself. “I’m sorry, though.” Your apology causes Michael to blow a sigh out roughly, then laugh and slap his thighs again.
“Wow! I didn’t know how much I needed to hear that.” You’re both silent- you studying Michael’s face, and Michael looking anywhere but at you. Then you start laughing.
“Michael,” You try to talk through your laughter, but you just shake your head and try to get it under control. You wouldn’t want him to think you were making fun of him- you only found him ridiculous- so you try your best to calm down. “Michael. You were upset that I ‘stole your thunder’ on your birthday, so your response was to… Pretend to be a girl? Instead of, oh I don’t know,” You try to hold back your laughter again, choking lightly on your words, “Throwing another party?” Michael seems to take a moment to absorb this- then begins to laugh alongside you.
“Well, that would’ve only been easy, Y/N. When have you known me to do things the easy way?” You both laughed again, and you began to shake your head.
“Never.” When your laughter finally dies down, you meet his eyes once again. Staring at each other, it's like you both finally understood. You thought he was just ignorant, but you had been missing out on important information as well. He began to nod, glancing over his shoulder toward the nearby wall clock.
“Well, looks like I kept you long enough. Time to clock on out!” He jumps up, shooting finger guns before backing up. He trips over the edge of the divider, tries to play it off, and then groans loudly when he sees Toby walking by. “God, every time!”
You chuckle to yourself, then begin the process of shutting down your computer and packing up. Kelly skirts around the divider quickly once the door closes behind Michael, leaning into your space. “Let me drive you.” You hesitate, widening your eyes.
“I’m sorry?”
“To the pub! Let me drive you!” You laugh nervously, beginning to shake your head.
“Oh, uh, no. I have my own car, but thank you-”
“If you drink, you won’t be able to drive home.” She counters, raising her eyebrows at you. You laugh again, shaking your head.
“Well, if we’re all drinking, wouldn’t you drink too?” She shakes her head immediately, crossing her arms.
“I don’t drink at all.” You still feel hesitant, and it must show on your face as she sighs and then leans in. “I’ll tell you Jim’s whole deal.” This catches you, looking back at her to study her.
“What do you mean…?”
“I’ll tell you if you let me drive you!” You huff a laugh, smiling despite yourself. “Yeah, alright. But if I don’t drink, you gotta’ take me back here so I can drive myself home.”
“Deal! And if you do, then I’ll drive you home and pick you up for work tomorrow morning!” You laugh again, shaking your head as you pick your briefcase up, finished with closing down your desk for the day.
“You seem excited about this.”
“Absolutely! I’ve been waiting forever!”
You were still unsure what she meant but followed along with the hyperactive girl as she burst through both of the doors to the breakroom. You watch Jim straighten where he had been leaning against Pam’s receptionist's desk, and smile toward you as you made your way to the exit.
“You know,” Jim starts, huffing a soft laugh and smiling in a way that took your breath away, “I was thinking.”
“Oh,” You draw out, smiling despite yourself, “Dangerous territory there, Halpert.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Jim begins, laughing again. He takes a discreet look around before reaching forward to almost take your hand, his fingers tangling with your own but not quite grasping. “I was hoping that maybe I could drive you down to the pub? I know you have your own car and all, but I just want to make sure you’re safe with getting home, y’know?” Your face falls just as you hear Kelly’s voice behind you.
“Oh, don’t worry Jim! He has a ride already.” Jim looks toward Kelly over your shoulder, then back to you with wide eyes, pulling his hand away.
“Already?” Jim looks back to Kelly, confusion clear across his face.
“Oh, don’t get your panties in a twist, Jim!” You feel her small hand wrap around your bicep, pulling you toward the door. “We’ll meet you there!”
You take one last look at Jim through the glass doors as Kelly drags you along to the elevator. You hesitate, mind trying to catch up, before you finally clear your throat and look at her. “No offence here, Kelly, but I honestly think I would’ve preferred riding with Jim?”
“You’ll have the rest of your life to ride with Jim. Just let me tell you what I need to tell you without the risk of Jim hearing us.” You both step onto the elevator, as Kelly begins mashing the button for the lobby.
“Uh,” Your mind is stuck, repeating ‘rest of your life’ and ‘Jim’ over and over. “This feels… Is this nefarious?”
“‘Nefarious,’” Kelly mocks, pulling you once the doors open again. “You say the oddest things sometimes.” You didn’t know which car was hers, but considering she was dragging you along, you didn’t have to guess. She pulls your briefcase from your hands, finally letting go of you, and you just stand in place. She throws your suitcase and her purse into the backseat, then opens the driver's door with a look up at you. “Well, get in!”
It was quiet for a long portion of the drive. You didn’t know what to ask, or how to even broach the subject. Did it seem too eager, to ride along with her just because she promised to tell you about Jim? And what was she even talking about- how would Kelly know more about Jim than you? True, you both hadn’t been friends for very long just yet, but you didn’t know Kelly and Jim were friends?
“So, it started when you started transitioning,” Kelly said, bursting you from your whirlwind of questions. “We all got pretty curious. I was the one who had the theory you were trans first.” She winces, looking over to you. “Sorry. I didn’t know at the time how true I was. I honestly didn’t even know if you knew about it, but- well, obviously you did.” You tilt your head, brow furrowing.
“You all were talking about me before we were friends?”
“Well, you know how the office is. You were changing, and people were noticing. Especially Pam and Jim. Pam, who is such a sweetheart and just wants everyone to be comfortable. She had a feeling you were never quite comfortable at the office but didn’t know how to help. Jim found you hot, which was throwing him for a loop considering he is gay, and normally not attracted to-” She hesitates, tilting her head. “Well, we did think you were a girl at the time.”
You nod along, unoffended. “Right, but-” You scoff, shaking your head, “I don’t know if I believe this story now. I mean, Jim? Finding me-” You almost say the word, then scoff softly and look down to your lap. “Attractive?”
“Well, you are hot,” Kelly confirms, and you look up quickly at her. You aren’t sure what expression is on your face, but Kelly just laughs. “What? Don’t look at me like that! You were hot when we all thought that you were a girl, and you’re even hotter now that we know you’re a boy!” You laugh in disbelief, shaking your head. Kelly continues on, pushing through your awkwardness. “I mean, c’mon! Confidence is sexy as hell.”
You look away, feeling a blush rise to your cheeks as you remember Jim saying something similar. “Sure, but-” Kelly interrupts you, continuing with her story.
“So once you finally came out, Jim had his own little freak-out because it wasn’t just a theory anymore. It is true, you are a dude, and Jim didn’t know if he could handle you getting hotter and hotter every day.” You flashback to another scene in your head, Jim saying something similar to Pam and you laughing, accusing him of finding Dwight attractive. Was he talking about you at that time? Kelly’s voice brings you back.
“Anyway, I finally told him that he needed to get his act together and ask you out already, or I’d do it first. Either ask you out for myself or for him, but either way. I don’t know if I could stand any more of him spewing about you, I mean- all I heard was Y/N this, or Y/N that, or ‘Wow he’s wearing the tie I gifted him!’ I mean, that man can talk.” You hold back a laugh, shaking your head. The one and only Kelly Kapoor, complaining about someone talking too much. That’d be hilarious to tell Jim- if you ever got the nerve together to tell him about this little conversation.
“Ok,” You huff out, shaking your head, “You’re asking me to believe that Jim not only finds me attractive but wants to date me?”
“Well, that’s where we’re going now! So you better believe it.”
“Going now- but you’re here? The office will be there, how would it be a date?”
“It’s going to be a date,” Kelly starts slowly, looking at you with a grin, “Because it’s not an office hangout. I’m going to drop you off and leave, and then Jim can take you home. I only did this to get you both together outside of work, you’ll be all alone with him.” She huffs, squeezing the steering wheel around her hands. “And I’m telling you all of this before the date because I don’t trust Jim to admit anything to you without pushing him for it. If I’m not there to pressure him, then-”
“Woah woah woah,” You interrupt, shaking your head quickly. “I’m not about to pressure my best friend for- for some wild hope that he might feel the same. And I-” You can feel the panic again, pulling at the seatbelt around your torso. “I don’t know if I can do this, I didn’t know it would be just us, I mean-”
“Calm down, it’ll be fine. It’s just Jim, remember?” ‘It’s just Jim,’ You repeat to yourself as Kelly turns the car into the pub’s parking lot. You take a few deep breaths, nodding your head. ‘Yeah, I can do this. It’s just Jim, just normal ole Jim.’ Kelly backs her car into a space, waiting for Jim’s to arrive. It doesn’t take long to notice Jim’s car pulling in, parking in one of the front parking spaces, directly in your line of sight. You take another deep breath, nodding.
“I can do this,” You whisper, and Kelly reaches over to squeeze your arm. That’s when you watch two of the car doors open, Jim and Pam stepping out to take a look around. You hear a squeak beside you, Kelly’s hand tightening on your arm. You look over with concern, watching panic written across her face.
“Oh, Jim, you bitch,” Kelly whispers, shaking her head.
“This wasn’t part of the plan, was it?”
“Absolutely not,” Kelly whispers, then moves to get out of the car alongside you. You both approach the other two, smiles on your faces. They finally notice you, and it’s almost like you and Jim have locked eyes and thrown away the key. You’re unsure what’s really happening between the two girls, not registering the words exchanged. You walk a little closer to Jim, smiling up at him.
“Hey,” You whisper, and his smile widens, reaching his hand out in an imitation of earlier, tangling your fingers together.
“Hey.” He glances over to the other two girls, wincing and looking back to you. “I wasn’t sure- is it okay that I brought Pam?”
“Apparently,” You whisper, leaning closer and glancing briefly at Kelly to make sure she’s sufficiently distracted, “That wasn’t part of the plan. She told me she was throwing me out of the car and driving off.” You note the blush lighting up Kelly’s cheeks as she talks with Pam, before turning your attention back to Jim. You hadn’t realized you leaned in this close- or did he lean in as well? His face was next to yours, close enough to share a kiss.
“Shall we head inside? Guys?” You both jump apart, and you look guiltily over to Pam, who spoke. She only smiled in response, throwing a thumb over her shoulder. “We could grab a booth?”
The night was going well. It didn’t really feel like a date like Kelly had hoped it to be, but instead a nice get-together of a couple friends. You all laughed constantly, telling stories and jokes from the office, while also sharing your own life’s stories. No one really talked about their own life outside of the office while they were working, so it was a refreshing twist on things. You felt drawn even closer to the lot of them- Jim, especially, as he couldn’t seem to drag his eyes away from you for too long. You weren’t sure, but you thought it was Jim’s leg under the table pressing against your own. You hoped so, anyway.
“But, yeah, Toby is so weird! You guys don’t get that vibe?” Pam continues, giggling as she sips her mixed drink. Jim and Kelly were the only two keeping away from the alcohol, but you had ordered your favourite mixed drink and had slowly been sipping on it. You knew you weren’t drunk yet, but you were pleasantly tipsy.
“No?” You hesitated, trying to think back over the times you’ve interacted with him. It was more often than most since you worked in the annexe, but he always seemed like a nice, if tired, man.
“It’s cause he has a crush on you,” Kelly nods, laughing alongside Jim. Pam blushes, shaking her head quickly.
“Oh, no, of course not.”
“Well, Kelly would know,” Jim points out with a grin, raising his glass to his mouth and taking a large gulp. You watch confusion rush across Pam’s face, while Kelly’s turns a bright shade of red. She mouthed his name behind her cup, giving him a stern look.
“What does he mean by that?” She asks, looking between you and Kelly, then back at Jim. “What do you mean?”
“Oh,” You begin, laughing under your breath. “Just that Kelly has a lot of experience talking with Toby. He was the one who moved her into the annexe, after all. It almost seems like they have a lot in common?” You end it with a question, trying your best to be vague. Jim almost spits out his drink with his laugh, turning to cough into the crook of his arm.
You hear Pam question, “Yeah, why were you moved into the annexe?” Right as Kelly mumbled from beside you, “Not that much in common. Like one thing.” You and Jim meet eyes, trying to keep the humour from your faces.
The rest of the night passed in much the same way. You still were unsure about the whole ‘Jim liking you’ bit but found yourself pleasantly hopeful. And it seemed like- if that was true- maybe Jim was trying to get back at Kelly by teasing her about liking Pam. You began to wonder if that was his plan all along, showing up with Pam randomly. Honestly, whether this was a double date or just a hang-out with friends, you found yourself enjoying the time immensely. But the night was wearing thin, and all four of you had work in the morning.
As you and Pam were helping each other out of the booths, making sure she hadn’t forgotten her purse, Jim and Kelly had run off to pay the bill. You glanced over at Jim- probably with a longing look since you can’t exactly help it, being slightly inebriated- and watched him lean in close to Kelly as they began whispering back and forth.
“He’s a good guy, y’know.” You look back over to Pam, eyes widening. “I don’t know you well enough yet to know your thoughts on him, but he is a good guy. And he deserves the world.” You chuckle softly, nodding.
“Yeah,” You say breathlessly, looking back over to him. He glanced up at the same time, and you can’t help the smile crossing your face. “I think so too.”
“Then tell him,” Pam insists, and you look back down to her. “He deserves to know that. He thinks he’s not worth your time, apparently.”
“That’s ridiculous-”
“What’s ridiculous?” Jim asks as the other two rejoin you and Pam. Pam smiles brightly leaning over to take Kelly’s arm.
“That you have to drive all the way across town just to drop me off, Jim!”
“Actually, we were just talking about that,” Kelly mumbles, and you smile watching her attempt to hold eye contact with Pam unsuccessfully. “If it’s okay with you, then maybe I could take you home? And Jim can take Y/N.”
“Yes!” Pam practically yells out, and you chuckle softly. You look over toward Jim, seeing him already looking your way.
“If that’s alright with you?” He whispers, and you nod immediately.
“Of course it is, Jim.”
“Good,” Jim says, releasing a breath as if with relief.
“Good,” You parrot, reaching forward boldly to take his hand. “Lead on, then.”
Once you and Jim make it to his car, you both wait before getting in to make sure Pam and Kelly are in their car safe and buckled. Once Kelly begins pulling out, Jim turns to you and leans in closer. “I had a fantastic time today.” You laugh, nodding along, leaning against his car and gravitating toward him.
“I did too. ‘Was surprised that Pam showed up, though.”
“Well, Kelly did say it was ‘the office’ going out for drinks. I thought it’d be fine.”
“Well, she didn’t actually mean the office, apparently. She was just trying to get us alone.” You shrug, smirking up at him. His deer-in-headlights look was gone now, for some reason. He seemed bold, leaning closer and taking your hand.
“And if it was? Would that have been fine?” You laugh again, nodding slowly.
“That would’ve been perfect.” His face slowly loses his teasing look, turning serious- but soft.
“Y/N,” Your name is husky in his mouth as he begins leaning closer, and you can smell his cologne in the air. Everything was so much, his smell, his body heat, his honey-brown eyes as he took up your entire vision. “Can I kiss you?”
“Please,” You whisper in return and meet him halfway as your lips crush together. He pulls the hand not holding yours to your face, lightly caressing your cheek throughout the heated kiss, and you grab hold of his hip with your own free hand, pulling him closer. You can feel him moan through the kiss, turning his head to deepen it. This was nothing like you’ve dreamed of- but oh, so much better.
When you two finally part, breathing heavily, he’s pressing you against his car with the length of his body. You both pant as you stare into each other’s eyes, and your grip slowly loosens on his hip. Eventually, he pulls away, clearing his throat with a blush. “Wow,” He whispers, a smile growing as he looks at you bashfully.
“Yeah,” You agree just as quietly, and Jim moves to open the passenger door for you. “Oh, right. Thank you.”
As you sat down in Jim’s car, ready to be driven home, you can’t help but think: ‘Man, I love working for Dunder Mifflin. Even the bad days can turn into the best ones.’

Dbd Male Survivors first impressions bf headcanons:
___________________
Dwight Fairfield
He’s very cautious, but still eager to greet you since you’re new to the fog
Immediately introduces you to everyone so you’re all on the same page
He’s intrigued about your background and begins asking you questions about anything and everything to get to know you(seems like more of an interview than light banter but you don’t mind)
Your first trial is with him and he quickly assumes a leading position and shows you the ropes
Extremely patient with you(which you appreciate)
No matter what he was very encouraging
Slowly but surely he felt himself developing a small crush for you
____________________
Jake Park
Jake didn’t immediately warm up to you, he’s just a wary person by nature
And he wasn’t malicious by any means, just kept his distance
But after the sight of you being startled by a crow he knew he had to intervene
When he finally got the chance to see you in a trial he sought you out
He was leaning behind a brick wall as he waved you over, you were a bit concerned but followed him anyway
You both took a stroll before reaching an area near a crow
“They can be a little frantic but if you can compose yourself than they won’t fly away”
You nod and follow his lead
He grabs your hands and outstretches them towards the crow
The crow quirks it’s head at you both, looking to Jake and then you before hopping into your palms
“See, you’re a natural”
Jake finds himself smiling at the sight, he’s swooning alright
And when you turn to him with the biggest smile on your face, he falls even harder
____________________
Ace Visconti
Since you’re the newbie he’s always gifting you items in chests whenever he’s in a trial with you
It’s warms his heart to see how appreciative you are
You’re amazed how how he always seems to find the greatest things
Whenever you ask how, he always dodges by hitting you with a cheesy flirtatious line that always makes you roll your eyes
“Hey, wanna see a cool party trick?”
You quirk a brow at him as he grins
He starts taunting the killer and after a long chase gets caught and hooked
You run for the unhook and when you arrive he’s got this cocky grin plastered on his face
“Prepare to be amazed…” he mumbles
He begins to attempt to unhook himself to which he ends up hurting himself twice
You start to reach out but he begins to attempt again and actually pulls himself off
He leaps into your arms, tackling you both into the ground
“Amazed?”
You frown at him and start stitching up his wound while scolding him for being reckless
He finds you incredibly attractive for being this concerned for his wellbeing
____________________
David King
Despite you being new, he doesn’t immediately put himself in harms way for you
You need to prove yourself worthy enough to be protected
Once you start pulling your own weight during trials he takes notice
Something unexpected happened in one trial however, you protected him when he was on death hook
He wasn’t used to this kind of treatment but he didn’t dislike it
Just when he thought his time was up, you appeared with a flashlight in hand and got your first successful flashlight save
You both rushed to the exit gates but before you could make it out, you took a down for David
He didn’t want to leave you behind but was pushed out by the killer
When you returned to the campfire he gave you a pat on the back and applauded you for your bravery
“Cheeky bastard…puttin’ yerself in arms way fer me…”
Now he’s definitely got a soft spot for you

Adam Francis
Adam’s very quiet on the outside but has a lot going on inside
At first he watches how you do tasks, not really saying anything which makes you nervous
He’s very hands on with his teaching methods
While working on a generator together he grabs your hands and adjusts them
“If you keep your hands down like this, you won’t burn yourself with the wire”
Your lips form an ‘O’ shape as you find yourself in a groove
His heart warms at seeing you learn from him and he doesn’t stop after that
He’s always teaching you something new, which you appreciate
That’s not all, he also makes diversions to keep you out of harms way
He’s got his pockets stuffed with pebbles just for you, what a sweetheart

Jeff Johansen
Jeff typically liked to keep to himself, unless he was around someone with similar interests to him
Kate for example, literally best friends
They could talk about music for hours
While on one of these music excursions, you joined in
The three of you all had an amazing and engaging conversation that everyone enjoyed, even outsiders
Seeing how passionate you were about your music taste made Jeff kinda interested in you
Once while he was carving some art into a distant log you joined him and asked questions about his art
This dude is such a softie for people interested in his art, especially when they ask questions
He’ll go in depth about his processes and you’ll just listen intently
He realizes how long he was talking for and turns red
“Sorry for talking so much…I’m sure you didn’t wanna hear that much…”
You assure him that you didn’t mind
And just like that, he melts like putty

Felix Richter
Felix is a quiet yet intense person, whether in or out of a trial
But most of the time, he’s introverted like most of the other male survivors
He didn’t really think much of you at first, noticing how much you struggled
But he chose to help where could
Oh you used up that medkit you spend your precious bloodpoints on? Built to last now
You remember him doing it the first time, when you complained about how you used everything in the medkit
“Can I see? I’ll bring it back in a sec…”
You reluctantly handed it to him and watched him scurry off to the nearest locker before coming back to you and opening it like a briefcase
“Almost good as new”
You grab it in awe with your mouth slightly agape “H-How did you do that?”
He just shrugs with a smile
Once on Léry’s Memorial Institute he watched you walk around in circles trying to find a generator
You groaned in frustration “I’m so close to giving up”
He hears you and gets off his generator to come help you
“Follow me”
You perk up and follow suit instantly
You both work together before you asked him how he finds generators
“In my spare time I make floor plans of each realm and log every generator location”
“Wow that’s amazing Felix!”
He was used to receiving praise like this before he came to the fog and even now but it felt somehow different when you said it
He could feel his heart beat in his chest whenever he was around you, and no the killer didn’t have dark devotion…

Jonah Vasquez
Jonah is an amazing teammate and quick to help you when he sees you
He’ll guide your hands to the correct motions so you don’t mess up but notices your looking more at him
“Hey pay attention…” he mutters before looking away
Out of trials Jonah kept to himself, if not then he was seen with Adam having some sort of academic conversation
Whenever you joined him he was very appreciative and never let it go unsaid
“You should come by with Adam and I some more!”
He loves positive affirmations especially from you, he melts like putty whenever you praise him

Vittorio Toscano
He was very unsure how to approach everyone else, including you considering you all were from different time periods
But he had ways of showing his consideration such as;transferring gen progress to help you finish a gen, telling you where the killer was, and even providing moral support while being chased
He enjoyed your calm demeanor, it was refreshing from the chaos but when you freaked out he didn’t mind leveling you out
“Don’t worry, think about how peaceful it will be when we escape, I know you can do it.”
You both talked whenever out of trials, he always had something to teach you about the fog
He also liked talking about his life before the fog and he enjoyed hearing about your life before the fog
He also had some poetry that he would read to you(although he would never admit you were his muse)

Fucked-up World - Negan x Reader
Pairing: Negan x f!reader
W/C: 2k
Tags/Warnings: 18+ MDNI, fluff, kissing, grinding, allusion to sex (no sex actually happening), just some a bit of comedy I guess lol
A/N: I’m winging it now.
I thought I was alone in this fucked-up world….
I just stood there, watching my best friend get bitten by a zombie, and then I ran. I ran into the woods. I didn’t care about anything except my dead best friend. Then, I stumbled on a rock and fell. I cried, attracting more zombies. They got closer and closer. I cried even harder, hoping death would come soon and free me from this madness.
But no, he saved me. Negan saved me. He swung his barbed-wire bat at them, blood splattering all over me. I was so shocked that I even stopped crying.
After he finished, he turned to me, offered his hand, and said, "Doll, what are you doin’ cryin’ in the middle of the woods?”
I’ll never forget that memory. I replay it over and over in my head. It’s always warmed me, even though the bad parts still haunt me. Now, I’ve worked for him for five months as his second right-hand ‘man’. I know he’s an asshole and has six wives just for himself, but I still admire him because of that memory. I wouldn’t dare say no to him when he asked me to do something. Tonight, I’m supposed to scavenge some stuff from Alexandria and other places. So, I prepare myself, knowing it’ll be a long night. As I’m getting ready, Simon knocks on my door.
“It’s time.” he said with a hurried voice.
I follow the others to the truck, but suddenly, a hand grabs my jacket.
“Come with me for a sec. On my truck.” I turn and see Negan smirking at me with his perfect teeth. I nod and follow him into his truck.
This is my first time riding with him. He orders me to sit with him in the back seat while Dwight drives. I sit beside him, Lucille resting on his leg. I look straight ahead, trying hard not to be nervous. I don’t want my feelings for him to show. Does he know I admire him as my hero but also have a crush on him? I only told Simon about the admiration, not the crush. It’s taking a long time to reach Alexandria since it’s nighttime. We sit quietly until Negan breaks the silence.
“Why are you so fucking quiet all of a sudden? Did Simon cut your tongue or somethin’, doll?” I turn to him and see his big smile.
He knows I’m close with Simon since I don’t have many friends in the Sanctuary.
“I-I don’t know what to talk about...” I drop my gaze to my feet.
“Well then, how about we talk about how you really fucking admired me because of that accident in the woods?” His face gets closer to me.
I snap. I look at him in shock. Did Simon tell Negan? But he promised not to tell anyone.
“H-how did you— Did Simon tell you about that???"
“Hell yes. I want to know how you settled in with my boys” His grin widens.
He’s enjoying this. I can’t lie to him. He trusts Simon and can tell when someone is lying.
“Y-yes, I really admire you. But please, don’t talk about it. Please, Negan” I grab my pants to stop my hands from shaking.
He looks at me, confused for a second, then grins again. “I really like the way you say please, doll. How about we go back to the Sanctuary and chit-chat?” He grabs his walkie-talkie and tells Simon to scavenge without us.
He orders Dwight to drive back to the Sanctuary. When we arrive, he orders me to follow him to his room. My hands still shaking, I follow him quietly. He opens the door to his room and sits on the black leather couch.
“Sit,” he orders.
I sit opposite him, but he gestures for me to sit beside him. I obey.
“Talk to me,” he says, placing his hand behind me and grabbing my shaking hand.
I look at him, confused. I’ve never seen this side of him before. Is he really this sweet? I break into tears and hug him tightly. Then I remember he’s still my boss.
“I-I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to.” As I start to break the hug, he hugs me back.
“Don’t be.” I cry even more onto his chest. He rubs my back to calm me down, and it works.
“I fucking knew from the start you were a tough gal. When I found you crying in the woods, I knew you’d been through some shit. I was really worried about you and I was certain that day that I wanted to help you. Really. And I promise you that I’ll protect you whatever the cost, doll” He lifted my chin to see his worried face.
I nod. “In my entire life, I’ve never allowed myself to cry like that because I knew I had to be tough when things got bad. Just like... then...” My eyes water again, but I try to hold myself together.
“What really happened that day, doll?” He cups my face and circles his thumb on my cheek.
“My best friend died and I saw it happen right in front of me. He was like a brother to me. We’d been best friends since kindergarten.” He wipes my tears and I continue.
“He helped me survive in this fucked-up world. We scavenged together. He taught me how to fight and fire a gun. Then, when we were scavenging, I let my guard down, and a zombie almost bit me. He saved me but got bitten himself. I just stood there like an idiot. He shouted for me to run, so I did.” I start to shake again.
Negan holds me tight. “Stop right there. You’re safe with me now. I promise.” He kisses my temple gently.
I hug him back tightly. “Negan, thanks for everything. Thank you for saving me back then and—"
“Shh... don’t mention it, doll.” He cups my face and smiles at me sincerely, not with his usual asshole smile.
I nod, and we try to get up at the same time, tangling our feet. We fall back on the couch, with Negan on top of me. I blush immediately. His face is close to mine. He smirks. He can probably see my face turning red.
His face gets closer, and I place my hand on his chest to push him back. “N-Negan, I—”
“Shh... doll, don’t be shy.” He insists, trying to kiss me, but I hold him there.
“No, Negan, it’s not like that... I—”
“Do you want me to stop? I’ll stop. Don’t worry” I blush even harder and clasp my hands over my face.
“I… I don’t know if you’re gonna judge me or not… it’s just--”
“Don’t tell me… you’re still a virgin, doll?” He asked worried but intrigued
I blushed immediately and tried to cover my face
“Fucking hell, doll, that’s hot. It makes me even harder. But I need your consent. It’s your call.” He smiles and kisses my cheek.
I don’t know how to answer. I want to do this, but I’m scared. “Don’t be scared, alright? And don’t worry about my wives,” he says sincerely.
“J-just do it.”
“What was that?”
“Just fuck me already.” I look at him, still blushing.
“There you go,” he grins. “I’ll go easy on you. I’ll make you feel good, doll.”
He starts to rub my sides and kiss me again. Now, I don’t resist anymore. I kiss him and throw my arms around his neck. He licks my bottom lip, and I open my mouth for him. Our tongues tangle, exploring each other’s mouths. It gets sloppy, and I break the kiss to breathe.
“On the bed,” he orders.
I obey as always, and he chuckles, whispering in my ear, “You’re very good at being submissive, doll. I’ll enjoy every minute of it.”
I lie on the bed, watching him undress eagerly. When he pulls down his briefs, his length springs free. My eyes widen. I’d imagined how big he’d be, but not this big.
“Do you like what you see, darlin’?” he chuckles.
He gets closer, hopping on the bed to close the gap between us. I moan. He kisses my neck and grabs my breasts. He flicks and pinches my nipples until they’re hard. It seems unfair that I’m still in my clothes, so I try to pull my shirt off, but Negan grabs my shirt.
“Doll, let me do it for you,” he says, continuing to kiss my neck.
He slides his hands under my shirt, making me moan in impatience. He’s taking his time. He grabs my breasts under my clothes and gently massages them.
“N-Negan, please,” I plead.
“Please what?” He looks at me with the biggest grin. He’s enjoying this too much.
“Please... fuck me already.”
“Whoa, slow down, baby girl. So eager.” He finally pulls my shirt and bra off, looking at my breasts with excitement. “Damn, fucking gorgeous.”
He sucks my nipple and plays with the other. I gasp at the feeling. I’ve never done this before. He switches to the other nipple, sucking and flicking his tongue like a pro. His hand slowly caresses my stomach and moves to the front of my pants. He presses lightly and chuckles.
“You’re soaked through these pants,” he says, chuckling.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
“Ugh! Who the fuck is it?!” Negan exclaimed.
“I-it’s Dwight, boss,” came Dwight’s muffled voice.
“Fucking ruining our little party, huh?” Negan winked at me. “Wait here, doll.” He got up from me and the couch, grabbed a towel, and wrapped it around his waist to hide his erection. He half-opened the door. “What the fuck is it?! It better be a fucking good one!”
“I-it’s Rick, boss. He stole our guns again.”
“WHAT?! YOU TELLIN’ ME HE GOT OUR FUCKING GUNS AGAIN?! WHERE THE FUCK IS SIMON?!”
“Simon is on it, boss. He said to inform you, so I—”
“Fucking hell, D! Okay, get the fuck out, I’m busy!” Negan slammed the door. I shifted on the couch.
“Everything's okay?” I asked, pretending I hadn’t heard anything.
“Yeah, just stupid Dwight. Let’s continue, shall we?” He smirked at me as he got back into position. I nodded and made room for him. I placed my hand on the towel and rubbed him through it, teasingly slow. He groaned, rubbing himself against my hand.
“Negan, I need to feel you,” I moaned. He quickly undid my pants and underwear.
“Oh baby, you are soaked! I fucking love it,” he whispered in my ear, slowly dragging his hand from my stomach to my clit. I gasped, feeling his rough hand on me.
“Oh, you like that, don’t you? Fuck yeah, you do,” he said, rubbing his thumb on my clit harder. I moaned, throwing my arms around his neck and lifting my hips for more access. “Say my name, baby,” he whispered.
“Negan... fuck... Negan.” He groaned, sliding his hand from my clit to my entrance. As he slid his middle finger inside me, the door slammed open wide. Negan and I jumped and looked at the door. Negan would be furious once he found out who did that.
“NEGAN! Oh… shit...” It was Simon.
“WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?” Negan screamed and threw me the towel to cover myself. He got up, naked and with a raging boner, walking towards Simon at the door. Simon backed up a bit, unsure.
“Why the FUCK did you do that, Simon? You better have something SO IMPORTANT that you interrupted me at this time!” Negan said, almost screaming again. I could see he was about to snap if Simon said the wrong thing.
“It is important, boss. Rick’s men are IN the Sanctuary. But I took care of it. They’re in the cell now. And I’m sorry about… that,” Simon said, looking at me with a smug expression. Fucking Simon.
“Well, can you fuck off? I’ve been interrupted twice now! GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY FUCKING ROOM!” Negan slammed the door in Simon's face. He stood there for a minute and then looked at me over his shoulder. “Y/N, I’m so sorry. I’ll lock the door now.” I heard the click of the lock, and he walked back towards me. “Well, well, where were we?”

A New HR Rep
Toby Flenderson/Reader
genre: fluff
is it normal to be scared while writing my first fic???😭😭 i actually wrote this in my notes and then put everything here n edited it. anyways👽👽 ill use (---) for ur name since i dont fuck that y/n bs
Being the new HR representative here at Dunder Mifflin Scranton was new, clearly nerve-racking since on your first day it meant getting trained. Which wasn't bad but a waste of time if corporate or your new boss, Michael, ever read you worked previously in human resources so you were used to it.
You tried to walk slow up the stairs to the suite but if you did walk slow then that would mean being late.
The documentary crew with the camera followed you which you could guess was normal here? Over call, you heard you'd be assisting another HR rep, not replacing like the last couple times. Maybe Scranton could give you a genuine job.
As you walked in, it was quiet you saw a woman at the front desk on the phone. You put a gentle smile to your face and approached her.
"Hi, I'm here for Toby Flenderson..?" You could just hope you didn't sound nervous. The lady smiles at you. "Yeah sure I'll tell him you're here."
You nodded and stood off to the side, turning over to see Michael Scott probably yelling at his desk phone, you turn away to give privacy but either way anyone could see him with the blinds open. You saw everyone seating at their desks.
A man taller than you very straight walk towards you, staring at you for second and then speaking.
"Hello, I don't believe we've been introduced. Dwight Schrute, Assistant Regional Manager." He stuck out his hand. You got a slight ick from him but brushed it off.
"Uhm, (---), I'm a new HR rep here."
Quite literally once you said that he slowly backed his hand away and stormed into Michael's office, almost mad. Did this place really hate people in human resources?!
A door in the back opens and a man who seemed gloomy walked into your direction. He put a light smile onto his face and held his hand out. "Toby Flenderson, I was refered to you as another rep here?"
His hand was rough but his voice distracted you from that sense.
"(----), I think it'll be an honor to work with you." You took your hand back again as you saw your possible new boss rage out of his office and come towards the two of you.
"No, no it won't be an honor to work for... him. He tortured me with his awfulness. And you know what thank you God for creating two of you." You looked back between Toby and Michael, trying to hold back the laugh that almost slipped through your lips.
As Toby gave a tour of the files and everything about the office. Right behind was both Dwight and Michael just stalking you, from a far distance. You could see Toby staring at you sometimes when you were reading something, you stared back at him too when he was explaining something.
On his desk, you saw a couple pictures of his daughter? You examined the photo without picking it up and looking intrusive. She was cute, but it made you wonder: was he married already? Then now you had no luck.
"That's my daughter. Sometimes I don't see her, I-I'm divorced but my ex-wife sees her more than me."
"Oh, I'm so sorry." You felt sympathetic for him, it must hurt him for not being able to see his daughter. You could understand that, just by the way he explained it you could tell he wasn't the way Michael had described or maybe you don't know him enough yet.
But extremely determined to.
You shared a desk with him to the left, you also met Kelly. She was definitely someone you could get along to. Although she does keep talking about her ex-boyfriend a lot.
By the end of the day you met almost everyone in the office, a lot of them really nice to you and you were back. Michael would intervene into the conversation, you didn't mind but it seemed rude.
Most of your conversations were with Toby, he seemed more calm than some salespeople here and you liked that (and him). There was zero reason for you to have a crush on a coworker you just met. You'd rather be in his bed than here.
Everyone got ready to leave and as you gathered your belongings, Toby stood behind you waiting for you. He wasn't staring impolitely since he thought you might see him do that and think he was creep.
He held out your coat for you as a kind gesture that you appreciated since the coat rack was by the receptionist Pam. Sort of a long walk from the annex.
The two of you talked throughout leaving the suite and to the parking lot. He didn't seem weird or off, unfortunately HR was supposed to make work lame and not fun. But you could hope that Michael could accept that you'll try to make it fun even if Toby tries to make it not.
"I think maybe we can make the office a little bit fun so Michael can learn to accept you?" You suggested it, doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen because really Toby was in charge of it all.
"Uhm, I'll think about that." His eyes went to the camera for a second then back at your own. You smiled at his comment before giving him a hug, it was out of 'thank you' and 'I like you'. He hugged back after he processed what had happened.
Both his hands laid on your lower back but also trying to not touch you weirdly. You pulled away from the hug before dragging the strap of your bag over your shoulder again.
It was awkward for a while until you spoke up. "I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow..?"
"Yeah.."
Too awkward but right there and then Toby might've found his true love. You were worth leaving a seminar to have sex with (pls get this reference👽👽).
notes: please dont be nervous to request anything i would accept anything since i need more inspiration. my next fic might be david dont know yet:33🗣🗣 im tryna be consistent with this now

THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: S3/EP5/8 O CLOCK AT THE OASIS (PART 3) Aka SweaterPaws, Fake Fish, The Best Okuh Ever, And Jess Mariano Is A Waterlogged Infant Kitten
Parts 1 & 2 and all other episodes can be found in my pinned post.
This scene of Rory overhearing an answering maching message from Dwight's irate wife combines two of AmyShermanPalladino favorite things: answering machines and (the voice of) Alex Borstein (Celine & Drella on GG, Suzie on Mrs Maisel. Also Lois on Family Guy). Gilmore Girls Producer: Attention, Gilmore Girls crew! It has come to my attention that our budget will not cover both Outdoor Landscaping Scenes and Fishtanks. Sacrifices will have to be made.
Finally she admits to herself that Dean is a serial killer. And casual swearing from Rory? Wow, what a delight to hear.
!!!SWEATER PAWS ALERT!!!!
What do the kids say? Unbothered. Moisturized. Flourishing? In my lane? Something like that. It's clearly a school day (since Rory is in her uniform) while it appears to be a rare day where Jess hasn't been scheduled to work in the Coffee Mines before school. Speaking of school, he's walking away from school instead of towards it and is not carrying any school supplies or a backpack. He looks happy. Just vibing in his ugly oversized clothing. Hopefully he looks up every so often so he doesn't walk face first into a lamp post.
Or that.
Blue Crush was a 2002 movie about a girl who surfs starring Kate Bosworth. Get it? Cause Rory is covered in water?
Hey. Eyes up top, Pal.
The floofy hair. The prominent draggy lip. The five o'clock shadow. Salty enjoys naming things she can see.
How many of Jess' books have been ruined with water? 2 so far. The answer is 2.
And now...ladies and Gentlemen...I present the greatest Milo Okuh Ever Okuh'D:
Get you a man who will risk soaking himself and pretend he didn't assist you with turning off a sprinkler so your boyfriend Dean won't fly into a jealous rage over it. It brings a tear to ol Salty’s eye. The episode wraps up with Lorelai attempting to end the Peyton Sanders nonsense by apologizing to Emily and taking the blame for the entire incident. Silly Lorelai, she didn't consider "What would Emily Gilmore think?" first and foremost before agreeing to go on one date with a random guy. I mean, Lorelai declining a second date with Peyton could have caused Emily to lose rank in her Tea Party Circle with Peyton's mother or some nonsense like that, according to a ridiculous story Richard just told Lorelai earlier in the episode. Let me be clear here, in case the message got a little lost- I am 100% siding with Lorelai here. She should not have to grovel like this over something so meaningless.
HOGWASH. Stop this right now Lorelai. Emily is standing just a few feet away and you're in a kitchen filled with many sharp knives and cooking implements. I'll look the other way. She even agrees to go on a second date with Peyton just to pacify Emily even though she just made it painfully clear how miserable it would make her to see this dude again. Emily is quite pleased seeing Lorelai's state of misery. Well, like I said earlier, you do only have a very small window of time before David Bowie stops performing forever, so go for it I guess. Take the tickets, then drop Hamm. Drop him like Rory dropped out of Yale. I have a final comment: Although by the end of this episode we don't see Rory at school, one would have to presume that after the sprinkler incident she either had to get on the bus and go to school sopping wet or go home and change and blowdry her hair and risk being very late to class. Either she gets reprimanded for showing up to school late or she gets reprimanded for the wet uniform and hair so she's screwed no matter what. If he didn't take an ounce of pity on Rory for her Hit By A Deer story, do you think Headmaster Charleston would buy some fantastical tale from Rory about her tardiness being due to a sprinkler, sweater paws, a neighbor with a board game fetish, and Dean the unabomber?
#8OCATO#gilmore girls#gilmore girls season 3#rory gilmore#literati#jess mariano#soaking wet puppy#sweater paws#denise rewatches gilmore girls#No Dean in this episode!#No wonder it was so easy breezy

Least favorite Star Trek character in each series?
i love all my children equally how could you do this to me!!!!
slightly more rational answer: i have been thinking about this since yesterday when i got the ask and it's like every time i think i have an answer i immediately go "oh but i love them for XYZ" and they move up in the ranks. ultimately most treks are ensemble shows and removing anybody from the ensemble makes it all fall apart!
gun to my head, though, bearing in mind that i love all of them:
tos: gun to my head it's chapel i'm afraid and i feel bad about it. she doesn't really get to grow much and the other most-static character is probably chekov and i had a massive crush on him. in 1967 when they went "you know this show should add a mop top for the teenyboppers out there" they were talking specifically about me 30 years later.
tng: i would take the bullet for real.
ds9: man i'm going through main characters and then secondary characters and then tertiary characters and how are they all so essential and good????? literally i have gone thru a list of characters and a list of episodes and am coming up blank. even the villains are fantastic. eddington is annoying but he's supposed to be and his episodes are all great. sloan himself is fun it's just what section 31 did to star trek in general that sucks. like????? there's not a single name that shows up in the credits that doesn't make me go YEAHHHHHH.
voy: if we can count recurring characters i'm saying barclay. i liked him a lot as a character in tng and but go "for fuck's sake" whenever i see "guest star dwight schultz" on the voyager credits. i dislike pretty much every earth-contact episode after "message in a bottle" so maybe i don't like voyager-barclay because he just happens to be there?? for main cast it'd be neelix shut up shut up i love him in the ensemble but sometimes when they give him his own episode it's too much.
ent: sorry malcolm lovers this was the only show that was an easy choice. like we SHOULD dig into the fact that essentially his greatest wish is to sacrifice himself and he won't be happy until he dies on the job. klingon behavior but not at all for the fun and glory of it just because he kind of just doesn't enjoy being alive???? archer is terrible in so many ways but he's also much more enjoyable to watch being terrible.
disco: this is actually a very weird show to even know who to choose from. the cast changes every year! we barely even know the bridge crew! who is interesting enough to count as a main character?? of the main title cast i'm kind of hot and cold with adira. i like them but the sheer amount of anxiety radiating off them at all times makes me tense up whenever they come on screen. (i just realized it's kind of ironic to say adira because they're basically a mix of wesley and ezri, who would probably make this list for most other trekkies but are two of my absolute faves.) (i will think long and hard about this)
snw: i don't know that i have enough of a read on any of them? i still haven't finished it. chapel (again?? oh no) is the one i had the hardest time warming up to early on because she seemed the most wink-y and out of place in a franchise that usually takes silly things very seriously, but i did warm up to her!
lower decks: if we can go with guest characters i hate badgey (only one on here that gathers the "hate" rating!!). i don't find him (it??) funny and i know i SHOULD find it funny which means whenever it shows up i am both not having a good time and feel bad about not having a good time. the main characters are all brilliant. gun to my head it's boims but it's a close one i love them all.
i don't even know what other shows we have i've run out of steam???
oh right picard. captain shaw??? why is such a large subset of fandom so horny for him??? and shipping him with seven of nine of all things???? is it just White Guy With Trauma because there are like. a lot of other white guys with trauma in this franchise to choose from.
#chatter post#anonymous friend#star trek thoughts#this killed me i'm going to eat ice cream straight from the container now and i didn't even get them all

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
January 14, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
You hear sometimes, now that we know the sordid details of the lives of some of our leading figures, that America has no heroes left.
When I was writing a book about the Wounded Knee Massacre, where heroism was pretty thin on the ground, I gave that a lot of thought. And I came to believe that heroism is neither being perfect, nor doing something spectacular. In fact, it’s just the opposite: it’s regular, flawed human beings choosing to put others before themselves, even at great cost, even if no one will ever know, even as they realize the walls might be closing in around them.
It means sitting down the night before D-Day and writing a letter praising the troops and taking all the blame for the next day’s failure upon yourself, in case things went wrong, as General Dwight D. Eisenhower did.
It means writing in your diary that you “still believe that people are really good at heart,” even while you are hiding in an attic from the men who are soon going to kill you, as Anne Frank did.
It means signing your name to the bottom of the Declaration of Independence in bold print, even though you know you are signing your own death warrant should the British capture you, as John Hancock did.
It means defending your people’s right to practice a religion you don’t share, even though you know you are becoming a dangerously visible target, as Sitting Bull did.
Sometimes it just means sitting down, even when you are told to stand up, as Rosa Parks did.
None of those people woke up one morning and said to themselves that they were about to do something heroic. It’s just that, when they had to, they did what was right.
On April 3, 1968, the night before the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by a white supremacist, he gave a speech in support of sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee. Since 1966, King had tried to broaden the Civil Rights Movement for racial equality into a larger movement for economic justice. He joined the sanitation workers in Memphis, who were on strike after years of bad pay and such dangerous conditions that two men had been crushed to death in garbage compactors.
After his friend Ralph Abernathy introduced him to the crowd, King had something to say about heroes: “As I listened to Ralph Abernathy and his eloquent and generous introduction and then thought about myself, I wondered who he was talking about.”
Dr. King told the audience that, if God had let him choose any era in which to live, he would have chosen the one in which he had landed. “Now, that’s a strange statement to make,” King went on, “because the world is all messed up. The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around…. But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars.” Dr. King said that he felt blessed to live in an era when people had finally woken up and were working together for freedom and economic justice.
He knew he was in danger as he worked for a racially and economically just America. “I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter…because I’ve been to the mountaintop…. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life…. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”
People are wrong to say that we have no heroes left.
Just as they have always been, they are all around us, choosing to do the right thing, no matter what.
Wishing you all a day of peace for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2024.

The End Will Justify It All - Chapter 6
A Negan Series
Chapter 5 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 1
Warnings - guns, shooting, wounds, blood, violence, captivity, illness, and some language. 18+ only.
Feedback is welcome!
This was wrong.
There were too many. How had this happened?
She’d sent a note through a Savior to Simon earlier in the day to meet her for a drink at the fire after her dinner with Negan, which meant there should be three guys along the fence: Simon at the fire on the far end, and two guys on guard.
She counted 14 right now, maybe more, they kept moving. She looked at Daryl and Sherry, hunched down beside her, the three of them hiding behind a stack of wood crates. There were enough stacks and barrels between them and the hole she’d strategically placed in the fence that in the dark of night, they could get most of the way unseen. The last ten yards to the hole was so exposed that no matter how well they timed the run, with this many eyes looking around, they would be seen.
Everything else had gone perfectly today. Fat Joey didn’t question her at all when she told him Dwight asked her to tune up his bike and have it waiting outside the gate for him. She had a whole story ready to explain where Dwight was going and why, but he could not have cared less. He was just happy to be speaking to her. She smiled sweetly at him, and he handed her the keys without another thought.
She’d asked Sherry to deliver Dwight’s lunch to him in front of Daryl’s cell today, so she could get to her target practice early.
“Hey, before I forget,” she said to Sherry as she handed her Dwight’s tray with a BLT, pickle, and glass of iced sweet tea, “can you meet me in the stairwell after my dinner with Negan tonight? I just need to talk for a while.” Sherry agreed, happily, as she walked away with the tray of food.
Her dinner with Negan was normal, if not a little awkward after the events of the night before. They ate, they played Scrabble, and they drank. She needed the drink. She found herself a little too distracted by every move of his mouth, flashes of their encounter last night trying to make their way into her mind. She had to force herself to focus on her Scrabble tiles more than once. It didn’t help that Negan played suggestive words, with that wicked grin, every chance he got. She was starting to sweat. She offered to refill their drinks when they were about halfway through the game and left him staring at his tiles while she worked at the bar cart. She delivered a well-timed joke and they both chuckled as she tipped the small bag of crushed sleeping pills into his whiskey. Swirling the glass around as she walked back, she smiled to herself as the powder dissolved in the amber liquid.
He'd emptied the glass by the time the game finished, him beating her for the first time. She wished she’d purposefully let that happen. She bid him goodnight. She even kissed him on the cheek before leaving, and grinned again.
Dwight was passed out in his chair outside Daryl’s cell, as she expected. She’d put enough crushed sleeping pills in both his mayo and his sweet tea to knock Fat Joey out, but she couldn’t risk him waking up and ruining it all.
Daryl stared at her wide-eyed when she opened his cell and dragged the sleeping Dwight into it. She wanted to embrace Daryl, kiss him, and explain everything, but she had the escape planned very specifically. There just wasn’t time. She settled for one deep but quick kiss and held his hands as she instructed him to follow her closely, silently, and do exactly what she said.
They tiptoed as fast as they could down the halls, only having to duck into an empty room once to hide from a passerby. When they reached the stairwell, they found Sherry where she’d said she’d be. Sherry seemed to understand what was happening as soon as she saw Daryl, and without a word followed them both down the stairs.
“Wassat?” Daryl asked her as she grabbed a backpack from a dark corner at the bottom of the stairs.
“Supplies,” she answered, flinging it on her back and motioning for them to hide against the wall while she opened the door to outside.
They crouched, scampered, and crawled in the dark, finally making it here, where she was frozen, trying to figure out what went wrong. She hadn’t planned for this many guys; there shouldn’t be this many guys.
“Wha’s wrong?” Daryl asked her, feeling her stress.
“Just let me think for a second,” she whispered back.
She knew it wasn’t possible. She couldn’t get them all out without them being seen. If they were seen, they’d be hunted down. What would follow that made her stomach turn.
She knew what she had to do.
She turned to Daryl, kissed him hard and passionately. She handed him the bag of supplies and told him, “Stay low behind the row of stacks and barrels, when you get to the end, time it so no one sees you, and make a run straight to the fence. There is a hole cut out there, you can’t see it until you’re on it. Whatever you do, just keep going. When you get to the woods, follow the cuts in the tree like you taught me, you’ll find a bike ready to go. Do not wait for me, I will find you. Take Sherry wherever she wants to go, and then you go somewhere else. Daryl,” she held his face in her hands and looked hard in his eyes, “do not go back to Alexandria. Find another community to hide in until it’s safe to contact Rick.”
She looked at Sherry, “whatever happens here, keep going. Make him keep going.”
Sherry hugged her as she said, “I will. Thank you.”
Daryl started to argue, but she gently pushed him. She watched as they turned and slipped away into the dark.
When they’d gotten far enough away, she took a deep breath and stood, stepping into the flood lights. All the guys stopped moving and looked at her. She looked toward Simon, who should have been expecting her, and her heart stopped. Standing right beside him, with his arms crossed and Lucille hanging from one hand, was Negan. Well, his sleeping pills didn’t work, she thought.
“Tsk tsk tsk,” he shook his head, “well, boys, it looks like you were telling me the truth. Unlike Y/N here, who has been lying to me…”
When she said nothing, Negan turned to Simon, “I believe you two were going to be having a drink together? Well, what the hell? Let’s have a drink!”
And there it was, exactly what she needed. What Daryl and Sherry needed. “Negan, I’m so glad you’re joining us!” she exclaimed, seeing a flash of surprise across of Negan’s face at her response. “I love having drinks around the fire with friends! In fact, why don’t we invite everyone?”
She spun in a half circle, looking at each Savior in area. “Negan and I would like to invite you all to have a drink with us right now,” and when only a few moved toward her she added, “on Negan!”
They all moved at that, smiles spreading across their faces, and some swatting her arm in thanks as they passed. She smiled at Negan as they all filed in around the fire, far from the fence Daryl and Sherry should be approaching now.
She thought she heard the ting of metal moving. She smiled to herself.
She spent the next hour and a half making her rounds with the guys at the fire, joking with most of them, asking some of them about their girlfriends or wives. Everyone enjoying the beers she’d provided on Negan’s tab. When she felt she’d given Daryl and Sherry a big enough safety net of time, she said her goodnights and made her way back to the building.
She was almost to the door when Negan called from the group, “Y/n! You can’t go yet! You and Simon barely spoke, and I for one, would like to know what it was you wanted to talk about that brought you out in on this cold night, sneaking around like a rat, to talk in the dark…”
------
She braced herself for whatever he was about to say or do. She could almost see the fury radiating from him in waves. It no longer mattered what happened to her, she could handle it. Or maybe she couldn’t. That was fine, too. Daryl was out, he could be with his family again. He could do good, be good out there. Somehow, he and Rick would take Negan down, she had no doubt about that. Hopefully she would live to see it, she thought, as she saw the rage in Negan’s eyes directed at her.
He opened his mouth to speak, but it wasn’t his voice that escaped his mouth, it was a boom. A gunshot. No, it didn’t come from his mouth, it had come from somewhere behind him. Was someone shooting? Time seemed to slow. She felt a pang in her thigh, she looked down. There was blood, dark and thick, insidiously oozing from a hole in her pants, where the sting came from. Her legs gave out in that moment, and she was on the ground. She could no longer hear anything around her, could only feel the pain. She was on fire. She gripped at her thigh, a wounded animal panicking. She needed to calm down, get help, breathe. When was the last time she took a breath? She willed herself to suck in air, her head clearing some with the effort. She winced as she forced herself into a sitting position and took another breath. Apply pressure, she told herself, stop the bleeding until someone gets the doctor. She pressed, screaming at the added pain, her vision fading at the edges. She breathed again and kept pressing. Why was no one coming to help? Her ears cleared, and she knew without looking that no one would be. She raised her head to see blurs of legs as people ran past her, she heard men yelling, some screaming in pain, more gunshots. There were others here, now. Their faces were covered with what looked like ski masks.
She needed to get somewhere safe or get to some weapons. She tried to stand, stumbled back down, vision almost completely black from the effort. She tried again. Successfully on her feet now, she raised upright to evaluate the best direction to go. She saw it happen from her peripheral, but not in time to stop the metal cylinder from connecting with her skull. She barely had time to register the pain erupt from her temple before she was unconscious.
She felt the pain before she knew she was awake. She’d never felt anything like it, she could barely breathe she hurt so badly. She couldn’t decide what parts of her hurt worse – her left thigh was still screaming with pain. Her head throbbed, a sharp pain radiating from her right cheek. She could taste blood, and guessed at her stuffy nose that she must have fallen on her face. The pain on her back was new – it stung, as cool air whispered against raw skin. She must have been dragged, she realized. Dragged where?
She opened her eyes. Well, she tried. Only her left eye would open, the swelling from her right cheek forcing that eye closed. Her head still drooping, she was looking at her lap. Her left pant leg was soaked in her own blood. She slowly lifted her hand to survey her head wound, but it wouldn’t move. She noticed then the ropes tying her hands behind her, uncomfortable as her elbows awkwardly tried to bend around the chairback behind her. She saw similar ropes restraining her feet to the legs of the chair she sat in. Do not panic, she told herself, assess.
As slowly as possible, to avoid blacking out, she raised her head. She saw a dark room lit by several camping lanterns placed on the floor. Concrete walls with no windows, some large iron equipment and pipes, possibly a boiler room? She and the lamps were the only occupants. She carefully turned her head, searching for a door. She heard one open behind her, and light flooded the floor in front of her, shadowed by her own hunched figure. “She’s awake,” a man’s voice said.
Two sets of footsteps approached behind her. Another voice said, “We know you’re in some considerable pain…” she didn’t respond. “We’d like to help you, if you want that.”
He waited for her to answer. She didn’t.
“We wouldn’t ask for much in return,” the first voice added, “just some information.”
“You gonna make me talk to the wall or come around and face me like men?” she growled, the effort of speaking sending the pain in her cheek rioting through her head.
One of them chuckled. “I would bet money that spirit is what attracted Negan to you,” he said as he moved in front of her and crouched to meet her eyes. He surveyed her face and whistled, “it might have been your face too, before this.” He touched her cheek on the last word, and she flinched away from him at the fire hot pain it sent through her.
“Shooo, I bet that does hurt.” He cooed at her. She glared as best she could with one open eye.
“We have some medicine, a doctor here, that could at least make that hurt less,” he said, “all we need to know is how many people Negan has working for him, and where they are stationed.”
“It doesn’t hurt that bad,” she said nonchalantly. She couldn’t think clearly from the pain, but she knew she didn’t want to give these assholes anything they wanted. “I think I’m good.”
The man in her face smiled, the smile not unlike one she’d seen on Negan’s face plenty of times, before making a point. “Well, I guess we need to change that,” he said viciously, before his right hand made forceful contact with her left jaw, sending her head flying right, only to see the back hand of the other guy flying toward her wounded cheek. She went unconscious again.
When she woke the next time, she heard thumping. Unrhythmic, sporadic, and it was coming from several different directions. She heard her two new friends talking in low, panicked voices behind her. “I thought we’d have more time!” one of them said, “how did they find us after only two days?” “I don’t know, but we gotta do something.” “What? They have us surrounded, and they’ve already killed most of our people!” The pause in their conversation gave her mind a chance to catch up, to realize what she was heard was gunshots.
“Did you really think,” her words were slow, the effort of talking through her newly bruised jaw slowing her down, “you could hit him at home, and he wouldn’t retaliate?” The guys moved from the door to stand in front of her while she talked. “You didn’t even know how many people he had, and you thought you could beat him?” she forced a laugh through the excruciating pain.
“You think this is funny, bitch?” one of them responded. “Well I’ll show you what I think is funny,” he said, lifting his metal pipe, the one she assumed gave her the busted face, like a baseball bat.
“I would not do that if I were you,” a familiar villainous voice growled from the door behind her, and her heart fluttered. Negan was here. For her. She was surprised at the relief she felt. “Not that holding back now will save you.”
Two Saviors appeared from behind her, holding guns. Her captors raised their hands, and the Saviors forced them to their knees. She felt her wrist restraints cut and fall, and rubbed her arms as she watched Negan cut her foot restraints. He placed her arm around his shoulder and helped her to stand on her good foot. With most of her weight leaning on him, he helped her to limp toward the door. She stopped him before they exited and turned back toward the room.
“If I can’t be the one to do it, I need to see it,” she told him. He nodded in understanding, and then toward the Saviors. She didn’t flinch at all at the gunshots, or as their lifeless bodies hit the floor.
Negan picked her up, then, carrying her from the room. He rushed down passages, and out through double doors. Blinking her good eye against the blinding sun, she heard continued shooting, and saw bodies, both Saviors and not, on the ground as Negan ran with her toward a truck. He placed her in the passenger seat as easily as he could and made for the driver’s side. She heard him yell orders to whoever was near as he climbed in and started the truck, not hesitating before throwing it in reverse and speeding away from the battle.
------
The truck sputtered and steam flooded from the hood.
“Shit.” Negan grumbled as the truck came to a stop on its own. “It must have been shot before we got away.” He frantically searched the cab of the truck. “Of course there is no damn radio in here! Is everyone an idiot?”
He thought for a moment, and finally asked, “Can you walk at all?”
It was the first time he’d spoken to her since they’d fled, they had been driving for about thirty minutes. “I… um, I can try,” she replied.
She steeled herself. This was going to hurt, but she knew there was no alternative. With all the gunfire, they didn’t know how many walkers were on their way toward them, and who knew how long it would be until their guys started heading back. If there were any guys left to come back… she shook the thought from her head as Negan opened her door and helped her out of the truck.
Immediately she knew she couldn’t do this, but she refused to tell Negan that. Refused to let him see the severity of her pain. So she began trying to find a rhythm of step, lean into him, hop. Each hop sent a white-hot flare of pain through her whole body, but she kept going. She was grateful that he would stop often to let her catch her breath, using the time to also wiggle her jaw, which was getting stiff and even more sore from clenching her teeth.
She guessed they’d been slowly hobbling down the road for about two hours when they saw an old barn ahead, a short distance from the road, in a field. He jerked his chin in the barn’s direction and said, “we need to stop here for the night.” It was nearly dusk already, and she knew if they kept going, they would risk tripping in the dark. The thought of that pain alone made her flinch.
Inside the barn, Negan gathered a mound of hay and gently set her down on it. After securing the doors behind them, he sat down across from her, resting his head against the wall behind him and closing his eyes. She watched as he seemed to be calming himself down, if she didn’t know better, she would have thought he was meditating.
“Who were those guys?” she asked, finally breaking the tense silence.
“One of the communities we own,” he said without opening his eyes, “we caught one of them at the Sanctuary when they took you. Took the bastard a whole day to break and tell us where they’d taken you. It took us half the next day to get there.” He finally lifted his head and surveyed her, lingering on her wounds. “It’s gonna be a long walk back…”
She nodded, fighting back the stinging tears at the thought of the long journey ahead of her tomorrow.
He moved to her, gingerly touching her wounded face and looking more closely at the wounds in the fading rays of light barn walls were allowing in. He met her eyes, still lightly holding her face in his hands. It hurt, but she didn’t mind.
“I saw you go down,” he said slowly, “from the first shot. But I didn’t see where they’d hit you. By the time I got to where you fell, you were gone. I thought you were dead, until Simon said he saw them load you up and take off.” His eyes shone with pain.
“I didn’t know if anyone would come for me,” she said softly. She hadn’t admitted it to herself in that boiler room, but she had not been hopeful of making it back out of there. “When I heard you…” her voice broke as her tears finally flooded. He gently pulled her into his chest and wrapped her in his arms as she wept. When she stopped, she said into his shirt, “we really gotta stop hanging out like this.” They both chuckled as they separated.
It was dark now, and the temperature was dropping. Negan made a dugout in the hay and helped her to lay down in it. Once she was settled, he settled in behind her, pulling her close for warmth. They laid that way for a long time, listening to each other breathe, when she eventually broke the silence.
“I believe I still have two free questions,” she said in lighthearted tone.
“You definitely used two already,” he quipped back.
“Yes, but you only answered one of them,” she said, lightly pressing him with her elbow. “So, I get the second one back.”
“I’ll allow it,” he said, pulling her a little closer and nestling her head under his chin.
She laid there a few more minutes before asking, “you showing up there today, was that… well, was that to find me? Or for retaliation for attacking you?”
He didn’t answer for long enough that she wondered if he’d fallen asleep. “It wasn’t about retaliation,” he said finally. “As for your other question… Lucille was my wife, before. And during. She died, because of me… because of my inaction. I wasn’t going to let inaction be the cause of your death, too.” Something in her ached at his response, some twinge beginning of understanding how he’d become the Negan she knew.
The cold crept deeper into her. She shivered, despite the warmth Negan wrapped around her.
As she succumbed to a pressing urge to sleep, she thought she heard Negan say, “you are burning up.”
------
When she woke up, she was in Negan’s bed in the Sanctuary. An IV in her arm snaked to two pouches of liquids hung from a metal pole beside the head of the bed. She couldn’t remember getting here. In fact, she couldn’t remember much at all following the night in the barn. There were brief flashes of trees rushing past while Negan carried her, the doctor holding her non-wounded eye open and flashing a light into her eye, and the occasional voice talking to her, or someone beside her. It was an unnerving feeling, remembering nothing between one place and the next, but somehow knowing that time had passed.
She realized suddenly how dry her mouth was, and how thirsty she felt. She looked around the room to find a glass of water on the nightstand beside her. Beside the nightstand, in the leather armchair that used to be in the sitting area, Negan slept. He couldn’t have been comfortable, she thought, with his neck at that angle against the back of the chair. He looked a little haggard. Dark circles under his eyes, his scruff longer than he usually kept it, his hair unwashed and a little unkempt. He stirred as she reached for the water glass, just slightly too far away, and sat up when he realized she was awake. He stood, handed the glass to her, and walked out of the room. A moment later, he returned with the doctor.
As he assessed her, she asked questions to fill in the gaps. Her bullet wound was a good one – all the way through, no major arteries nicked, it didn’t hit bone. It would take some time and some effort, but the muscle it pierced would heal and she’d be able to walk again. It had become infected while she was tied up, and the infection had gone deep. Her fever had gotten dangerously high, which explained her sleeping through the last four days. Her cheekbone was likely fractured, though he expected it to heal well, too. Her nose had been reset, and her jaw and cheek bruises were already turning shades of greens and yellows. The swelling had receded enough that she could open her right eye enough to see out of. She turned down the offer to see herself in a mirror. Negan listened intently, not saying anything and not meeting her eyes.
The doctor left her with orders to drink as much water as she could, eat as much as she could, and sleep as much as she could. Once the infection cleared and the gunshot wound had closed, she could start working on walking again.
She looked at Negan, who was staring at the door the doctor had shut behind him.
“I vaguely remember you carrying me through the woods… you must have nearly killed yourself carrying me that far. I can’t thank you enough,” she said, meaning every word. He did not turn his head.
“I can ask the doctor to help me move to my room, so you can have your bed back.”
“No,” was all he said, before leaving her alone.
She told herself not to stress about whatever that was. If it was about her, he’d eventually have it out with her, and if it wasn’t then it would go away. But sitting there, in his bed, with nothing to do but think, stressing about it is what she did. She went over every possible reason he would be pissed at her, when she was literally unconscious for four days. After an hour or so of spiraling, the door opened, and she was surprised to see Tanya enter with a tray of food. Tanya set the tray up on the bed and made her way to sit in the chair near the bedside.
“Um,” she said to Tanya, with a raised eyebrow, “thank you?”
Tanya seemed to know she wasn’t asking about the food and explained. “Negan sent me to sit with you for a while. If you need anything I can get it for you. Or I guess if you want to talk, that’s what I’m here for, too.” Then she added, quietly, “which will be a nice change of pace.”
“Wait,” she asked Tanya, pulling the tray of food closer, “what does that mean?”
“Oh,” Tanya pushed a breath out of her nose in a sort-of laugh, “you’ve just been asleep every time I’ve been in here before.”
“You... you came to see me?” she was surprised. She and Tanya weren’t exactly friends. With Sherry gone, she wasn’t sure she had any friends here anymore.
“Well… Negan didn’t want you to be alone. He sat with you almost all of the time, but if he had to leave for whatever reason, he sent one of us to be with you. Said we had to stay awake in case you woke up.”
“I guess that explains why he looked so rough,” she commented.
Tanya replied, “yeah, I don’t think he’s had much sleep since he carried you in.”
She contemplated all of this while she ate the food Tanya had brought her. It didn’t take her long, she found with the first bite that she was famished.
When she finished her meal, she asked Tanya to fill her in on what she’d missed. She put on her best surprised face when Tanya told her Daryl had escaped. As Tanya informed her that when Negan was gathering the troops to come after her and her captors, they’d discovered Dwight missing, and the wives had not seen Sherry for a while either. They assumed both had run away together. Then two days ago, Negan suddenly remembered Daryl was locked up and with Dwight gone, no one was making sure he was fed, but they opened the cell to find Dwight in there, half-starved and feral. He said Sherry had drugged his food, and he woke up in Daryl’s cell.
“Sherry and Daryl ran away together?” she asked Tanya, dumbfounded.
Tanya couldn’t believe it either, “Negan was furious. He sent Simon and a group to Alexandria to find Daryl, but they haven’t been able to find him.”
She didn’t let Tanya see the relief she felt. This had worked out surprisingly well for her. She had planned to deal with Dwight later, though she hadn’t quite decided how at the time she’d locked him up. And Daryl had listened to her and didn’t go find Rick, that, too, was a relief.
After a few more minutes of chitchat, and Tanya getting a couple of books for her to read while she was bedbound, she told Tanya she was feeling very tired. According to Tanya, Negan wanted Tanya in there anyway, so she got a book for herself, and moved to Negan’s couch.
Sleep quickly consumed her, and she woke hours later to find Negan gently shaking the foot of her good leg to rouse her.
“Dinner,” he grunted, motioning to the tray on the bed. He helped her into a sitting position before seating himself in the chair beside the bed.
“You don’t want to eat, too?” she asked him.
“No,” he bluntly replied. Still in a mood.
She ate in silence for a few minutes. She was trying to decide how to proceed in conversation when he beat her to it.
“Free question,” he declared. “And don’t lie this time.”
Her heart skipped a beat. “When did I lie to you?” she asked him, not looking away from her stew as she took a spoonful.
“When I asked you before why you were really here. You lied. I want the truth this time.”
Her food turned leaden in her stomach, and she suddenly had no appetite.
“You came here to get Daryl out, didn’t you?”
She looked up at him, held his hard stare.
“Yes.”
“And you succeeded, didn’t you?”
“Yes.”
“I knew the moment we couldn’t find Dwight and Sherry was gone, too, there was more to it than them running away. They’d already tried that and failed miserably; Dwight is too spineless to try a second time. And that douchebag in Alexandria, Spencer, he’d let it slip that you and Daryl had a little thing going before you met me… so, I checked Daryl’s cell,” he confessed, “and who did I find, sleeping like a baby, not a scratch on him?”
“Negan,” she started, but he cut her off.
“Here’s the other thing, you didn’t just drug Dwight and get Daryl out… you tried to drug me, too. Didn’t you?”
She didn’t respond.
“I took one sip of that whiskey and could tell something was off about it. But I wanted to see what you were doing.”
She swallowed down the bile rising in her throat. She couldn’t run, she knew screaming would be useless. All she had on this tray was a spoon and some hot stew… she could throw it in his face, but that would only piss him off… she had no option but to take whatever punishment he had in store for her.
“Are you going to burn my face?” she asked him, no fear in her voice.
He stared at her for a long time before responding.
“No,” he said, defeat laced his tone. “No. You covered your tracks well. Dwight believes Sherry drugged him, and everyone else believes it, too.”
She loosed a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She wanted to thank him, but she didn’t think he’d receive it well.
They sat in silence for the rest of the evening, Negan removing her tray when she didn’t touch it for a while. He retreated to the bathroom, and she heard the shower turn on. She settled in, feeling tired again, and closed her eyes. Sleep didn’t come, but she kept her eyes closed, as Negan completed his shower and came back into the room. She heard him click lamps off, his footsteps moving around the room. She felt the bed dip as he climbed in beside her.
He'd found her out, revealed her plans, she had confessed it all, and now he was going to sleep beside her. She turned to her side to find his bare back facing her.
She knew she shouldn’t press her luck, but now curiosity was getting the best of her.
“If you knew when those guys took me… why did you come for me? Why lose all those guys to get me back?”
She watched his back decompress as she sighed, and then as he turned to his side to face her.
“How is the answer to that not obvious by now?”
She searched his eyes and watched as they moved to her mouth and then back to her eyes. He moved in close, their lips nearly touching. Then he kissed her. This kiss was not like the last time he kissed her. This was gentle, passionate, soft but powerful. She kissed him back.
When he pulled away from the kiss several minutes later, her silently cursing her wounds and the IV preventing them from going further, Negan said softly to her, “you will have to decide one of these days. You can try to survive with Daryl, or you can thrive here with me. You can’t be in my bed and his, too.” With that, he turned over and went to sleep.

Chocolate and Pining

PART ONE
[TABLE OF CONTENTS]
Check Table of Contents for entire fic summary and Key!
Summary: The cameras arrive and begin their rotation through the office. What will their shiny lens and intrusive questions uncover?
Warnings: canon-compliant cheating (if you count Pam flirting while engaged)
Author's Note: First post of the new rewrite, and Im kinda glad I only post two chapters of this previously because I went through and changed the entire thing from third person pov to first, to match along with the rest of the xReaders i’ve been writing.
[ ֎” ]
"Alright," You begin, your legs crossed while you tap one hand on your thigh. "What do I even say?" You huff a little laugh, shaking your head. You sat on an uncomfortable grey plastic chair, blinds slightly drawn behind you to block the view of the rest of the office working. You turn around and glance back, looking through the small opening available and noting three different cameras roaming the office and zooming in on people.
"What do we do here?" You repeat the question you're given, turning back toward your own interview camera. "Well, this is Dunder Mifflin, Scranton branch. We're a paper-pushing company." You stop for a moment before the producer behind the camera does a sort of wave as if urging you on. "Uh- well, I'm the receptionist here. I took the job almost a year ago. I transfer calls to the department they need to go to, write notes during our meetings- I'm basically Michael's secretary." You awkwardly laugh, glancing at the wall of the conference room shared with Michael's office as if he could hear through it. You wouldn’t doubt it if someone told you he stood there with his ear pressed to the wall.
"What's the most interesting thing about this job?" You furrow your brows in concern, uncrossing your legs and sitting forward. "Look, I don't know what you guys were expecting when you came here with a whole film crew, but we're a paper company. There's literally nothing interesting about working here."
[ ֎” ]
"What's interesting about working here?" Oscar asks, glancing through the blinds before leaning closer to the camera, waving his hand as he speaks quieter, "Now I'm not one to gossip, but the big thing going around is the office romance right now. And I'm not talking about Kelly and Ryan getting back together for the fifth time." He laughs shortly at his own joke before continuing. "See, Pam is engaged to Roy, he works here in the shipping warehouse downstairs. They've been together for years and they finally have a wedding date set for about a month or so from now.
"However, Jim has the biggest crush on her, everyone can tell. Before Y/N got here, Pam was the receptionist and Jim was always jumping up and going over to her to flirt constantly. Now, some believe the flirting is still going on while their desks are right next to each other, but I think it's gotten tamped down a bit since Pam scheduled a date for the wedding.
"And then there's Y/N. They started here when Pam was finally transferred to sales, and the position opened. They actually became quite close to both Pam and Jim pretty quickly, which makes some sense considering Dwight and Michael basically attacked them their first day here." —
[ ֎” ]
"Attacked Y/N? Please," Dwight scoffed, shaking his head, "I was merely preparing the new employee. If you’re not ready for a surprise stab from a ninja on your first day on the job, then I really don’t think you’re ready for work at all.” Dwight huffs out a breath, crossing his arms. “Besides, Jim made me use the dull blade.” He looks away from the camera in a strop, shrugging his shoulders. “If he hadn’t taken my sharp one I wouldn’t have had to pull out the dull one. I had to put extra force behind the attack for it to do anything, so really it’s Jim’s fault for the bruises.
“Michael? He couldn’t hurt a fly.” Dwight scoffs, then scoffs again for emphasis. “The fact that he tripped and fell that day means nothing, he was merely catching himself from falling with the closest available thing to grab. Which happened to be Y/N’s body, which he then happened to pull down with him. An honest mistake, that.”
[ ֎” ]
— "Now," Oscar continued where he left off with a smirk, "You'd think Jim flirting with Pam, and her egging it on while engaged, should be drama enough for you. But, then you have to figure into the equation that Y/N also likes Jim. I have a pretty good view of the receptionist area when Y/N sits in a certain spot, and I can hear whenever they talk to each other... Sometimes.
"Now I don't know if Jim realized he's a little flirty," Oscar wiggles his fingers with this, "But certainly not as much with them as with Pam. But- man, it's almost painful how hopeful Y/N's voice gets when they talk with Jim. Almost, but mostly just entertaining. And of course, none of the three know about this. It's basically the office soap opera at this point, and no one wants to say anything to disrupt the saga."
Oscar leans back, chuckling to himself before glancing at the camera, "Oh, almost everyone. Don't tell Dwight or Michael either, they're sure to give it away." He pats his leg for a second before smirking, "I'm team Pam. Now don’t look at me that way! I would love for Y/N and Jim to get together, but he’s just too obsessed with Pam! And that woman really needs to get herself a new man, that Roy is a real piece. of. work."
[ ֎” ]
"Team Pam or Y/N?" Phyllis asks, her smile soft as she raises a hand to cover a giggle, "Now I don't like drama, but absolutely team Y/N. Pam is engaged, it's inappropriate."
[ ֎” ]
"Team Pam, all the way." Meredith nods, smirking to the camera. "She was here first. Gotta be loyal to the branch."
[ ֎” ]
"Oh! Team Y/N!" Kelly squeals, wiggling her body in excitement.
[ ֎” ]
Jim sits in the seat, smoothing his pant legs down and sighing. "So, uh, what exactly do I say?" He places his chin in his hand, his fingers tapping restlessly against his bottom lip.
"Anything interesting?" Jim repeats, glancing out the window in the general direction of Pam and Y/N before looking back. "I mean, there's nothing really interesting about this job. Toner prices, how much each piece of paper weighs or costs-" Jim sighs, shaking his head and dropping his hand, "Honestly, the only reason I'm still here at this point is probably my friends. Pam, my desk-mate over there, we've been here for a while together. And then there's Y/N, the relatively new hire. Or, are they new?" Jim tilts his head to think about it, squinting his eyes toward the ceiling. "Has it almost been a year already?"
Jim shrugs, smirking before tapping his leg, "Oh, and also pranking Dwight. Gotta make your own fun here."
"What the- Jim!" Dwight suddenly yells, drawing half the office's attention. The other half continued blandly on with their work, used to their antics it would seem. Jim glances wearily over toward Dwight as he lugs something up from his bottom drawer, placing a plate with yellow jello and a stapler floating inside onto his desk. "What did you do?"
Jim struggles to hold back a laugh, his hand curled in front of his face and chin resting on his palm. Instead, he shrugs, leans back and crosses his arms while trying to maintain a poker face. "Nothing, Dwight. By the way, what happened to your stapler there?"
"You should know, you did it!" He sits there for a moment, glaring at Jim before bounding up, running and calling out, "Michael!"
You were half standing behind your reception desk to get a good look, sniggering to yourself about this prank- it was a good one. You look over to Jim and see him give Pam a high-five, mumbling something to each other before Jim looks in your direction and shoots you a full smile instead of the smirk he had been wearing. You smile back, sitting back down in your chair and scooting up closer to your computer.
The camera swings around closer to Jim, listening more in on their conversation. "How did you even do it?" Pam asks and snickers quietly before straightening up suddenly, grabbing her phone to press to her ear in an attempt to look as if she was doing her work as their boss exits his office.
"Let me see, let me see-" Michael finally lays eyes on the prank, laughing loudly. "Wow, just- wow!" He laughs some more, patting Jim on the back. "This is a creative one, good job Jimbo!" Dwight scoffs, moving to be in Michael's line of sight. Michael jumps slightly as if remembering he's the boss before clearing his throat and looking at Jim. "Oh, but don't do it again."
"Do what again?" Jim asks, playing dumb still and raising his eyebrows at Michael. Michael barks a laugh in return and pats his back again before wandering back into his office, mumbling about jello under his breath. Jim turns toward Dwight with a victorious grin while you stand, carrying your lunch box toward the kitchen. You tap Jim's shoulder twice in passing as if to say good job, and Jim barely has enough time to lift a hand to yours as you gently pull away to continue to your destination.
"Get it out," Dwight demands, standing near Jim and glaring at him.
"Get what out?"
"My stapler!"
"Well, it is your stapler, Dwight." Jim turns back toward his computer, chuckling under his breath.
"Oh, and how am I supposed to get it out?"
"I don't know, eat the jello?" Jim suggests, causing Dwight to scoff loudly as he plops in his chair.
"I can't just eat the jello, Jim. I wrote my name in whiteout on the stapler so everyone would know it's mine." Dwight pauses for a moment before narrowing his eyes. "Unless you knew that, and you'd assume I'd eat this. You're trying to poison me!" Jim sighs loudly, widening his eyes toward the camera before shaking his head.
"Ok, and with that, I'm going to take my lunch." He stands, turning to make his way toward the kitchen.
"If you need something to eat, I have a whole plate of jello right here for you Jim!"
Jim enters the kitchen, watching you press a few buttons on the microwave to heat your lunch. He dons a small private smile before sneaking closer behind you, reaching out and grabbing your sides while calling out a quick, "Boo!"
You jump heavily and yelp, turning around quickly with a hand pressed to your chest, panting out your breaths. "Fuckin- Halpert!" You yell out, smacking his arm before slumping against the counter behind you. Taking a few more breaths as Jim bends over laughing, you call out, "Unfair!"
"Oh? Unfair?" Jim replies, grinning toward you, "This is just payback for that email!"
"Hey, I sent that yesterday!"
"And I just opened it today." Jim grinned, not at all sorry, as you remember the jumpscare chain email you had forwarded to him, hoping to see his reaction.
"Well, that's unfortunate. I wanted to see you jump, I must've missed it." You pouted slightly and Jim's face did a small change, becoming softer and crinkling slightly at the eyes. You don’t seem to notice as you turn toward your food once the microwave beeps.
"Yeah, you were being harried by Michael, something about new shoes?" At which you groan loudly, holding up a finger with an eye roll.
"Don't even get me started on that." You thought back to that same morning when Michael came in with muddy shoes, whining about how he had just bought them even though you could’ve sworn you had seen Michael wearing them for the last half a year. How exactly did time pass in Michael's world, you wondered? And how had they gotten muddied? It wasn’t even raining outside!
"If you need to talk about it, I'm here," Jim said, sounding oddly sincere, but then continued quickly, "Although if the opposite is true I'm also very willing to go into detail about the newest book I just finished of my series."
"Oh? You mean your nerdy novels about swords and dragons?" You reply, raising your eyebrows and smirking at Jim as you stirred your lunch. “Aren’t you supposed to be a jock or something?”
"Don't pretend like you don't love the series, you listen to me ramble about it every week," Jim replied, never losing his smile and never looking away from you. His focus felt like fire on you, and there was nothing you could do to put it out. You weren’t even sure you wanted to. “And it is possible for someone to like sports and reading at the same time.”
"Hmm." You hum, pretending to think about it. It really wasn't a hard choice- while the stories sounded interesting enough by themselves, it was Jim telling them to you that made the whole week worth it. Listening to Jim become so passionate about something he found interesting was almost infectious, you practically waited for these days just to gain inspiration for your own writing. And if you happen to write fanfiction about the stories you've never actually read- well, Jim didn't need to know about that. "Alright, fine, if you insist. So what's new with Salamander and Patterson?"
"It's Sally and Parker," Jim began in disbelief, rolling his eyes fondly as you pick up your lunch, the both of you moving to the break room. You had known that, of course, but watching Jim try to explain for the seventh time why Sally is absolutely not a salamander and is, in fact, more like a snake than anything else just brings a smile to your face and a warm feeling to fill your chest.
You sat down at a chair, thankful for the empty break room as Jim wandered over to the vending machines. He put in some money and roughly pushed a few buttons, complaining all the while about his book characters. He ends up chuckling and shaking his head as he states that he needed to 'start from the beginning.'
A packet of double chocolate chip cookies lands in front of you, and you grin brightly while reaching for the gift. "My favourite, how did you know?" You look up to see Jim looking quickly away, not noticing the red starting to stain his cheeks and the tops of his ears.
"You eat it every week," Jim replies quietly as if that explains it, fetching his own lunch. "Anyway so then Parker-"
It was later in the day, and you sat bored at your desk, a word document pulled up on your computer that was half written with a personal story. Though you weren't actively typing it, instead spinning a pen in your hand as you stare in the direction of the sales associates.
"I honestly don't know what I'm looking for here," Jim speaks lowly, chuckling as he held Pam's hand in both of his, her palm facing upward. He looks up into her eyes as she giggles, shaking her head.
"No, look closer, here," Pam takes one of his hands, taking a finger and tracing a line on her palm as if this would help him read it, "This is the life line. Or- wait, maybe it's the heart line?" Pam giggles again, though misses Jim's almost yearning gaze as he holds her hand a little tighter.
"I don't know what either of those mean, Beesly," Jim replied, his voice low, and Pam finally looked up. Their eyes met and you finally had to look away, the pain in your chest becoming almost too much to bear.
And, almost as if on cue, Roy pushes in the door to the office, walking forward with his hand holding a leather jacket over his shoulder. You glance up quickly, about to start your usual introduction before realizing who it is and clearing your throat loudly, throwing a worried glance toward Jim. He glances over in time, thankfully, yanking his hands back as if burned when spotting Roy turning the corner. It seemed as though Roy hadn't noticed, smiling at his fiance as he approached before leaning down and kissing her forehead.
You watched the pained expression cross Jim's face for just a moment before he managed to school his features into a poker face. You felt for him, honestly. You knew how it felt when the person you liked, well, liked someone else. You just wanted him to be happy above all else, and you knew pining after Pam was not it. If only Pam wouldn't egg it on constantly, maybe he'd have a chance to get over her.
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah, let me just pack my things and print out one more file, I'll meet you down there," Pam replied to her fiance, smiling blindingly bright at him before they kiss once more. Roy turned around, passing the reception desk before grabbing a few pieces of candy that you kept out on the top of the desk. He popped one in his mouth before choking dramatically, turning around and coughing a few times before looking directly at you.
"M&Ms? Really? I liked it better when it was Skittles."
"I've never put out Skittles, I like chocolate."
"It doesn't matter what you like, it's for the guests, isn't it? Pam used to put out Skittles and no one complained." He tossed the remaining few pieces onto the floor beside him before walking out of the office. Pam ran up quickly, a worried look on her face.
"I'm so sorry, he must've had a bad day-"
"It's fine, Pam, really." You paste on a smile, annoyed not just at Roy but at Pam for earlier. Pam nodded slowly, her smile regretful as if knowing how you felt before turning around and pressing the last few clicks on her computer to shut it down. She gathered her things in silence, sliding her newly printed paper into a file on her desk. Meanwhile, you stared at your computer screen, not really reading what was there.
"Bye Jim. Bye Y/N, see you tomorrow!" Pam called out, and you replied with a little wave before pressing save on your word document, downloading it to your flash drive. The door to the office hadn't even closed before a new presence was at your desk, leaning over to try and spy on their computer. You looked up to see Jim smirking, looking directly into your eyes.
"Did you close that document just 'cause I came over? Hiding something from me, Y/L/N?" His teasing tone had you smiling against your better judgement, leaning back and crossing your arms.
"Well, I wouldn't want you discovering my master plan. It's a secret for a reason, you know." Jim laughed at your joke, leaning back and taking a handful of M&Ms to pop into his mouth. Watching this, you felt their face deflate just slightly before you hear Jim’s whispers.
"You know, I think I prefer the M&Ms over Skittles any day." He winks, then dumps more from his handful into his mouth, walking back to his desk to finish up his day. You once again couldn't help the small smile that adorned your face in response.
[ ֎” ]
"I've always had a thing for chocolate," You said, shrugging, "I'm the one who sits there all day anyway." You bite your lip for a moment, trying to suppress a smile. "Besides, who cares what Roy thinks? Other people in the office like them, that's all that matters."
[ ֎” ]
"What kind of person do I like?" Jim makes a baffled face, blinking a few times before resituating in his seat. "I don't know why that's relevant, but if I had to choose..." He trails off, his eyes taking on a far-off look, "Someone sweet, smart- someone who laughs at my jokes while also making me laugh. Someone who will help me with my pranks and listen to my ramblings." He looks back up to the camera with a small smile, "Someone with a sweet tooth that I could spoil."
"You coming, Y/L/N?" Jim calls out, the office dark. You're the last two in the building now, it seems, and you glance up from your desk where you're standing to smile at him.
"Oh, I just have a few more papers to print, you go on ahead."
"Don't work too hard, Y/L/N. The effort isn't worth it." You laugh in response, waving him off. You both exchange a quiet goodbye before you wander over to the copier, which was printing multiple copies of what looked like Dwight's face on the 'Scranton Strangler' wanted poster. The camera swings between the pages and back to you, where you only shrug and smirk.
"It'll be funny," Is your only excuse as you take the pages and start hanging them on the pillars of the building around the office, sliding an extra copy into Jim's desk as a memento.
