Pk so truth about how I see and interact with Hazbin Hotel

I like the concept, music, and some characters

However it's not enough for a hyperfix or a true delve into fandom for me.

I dont need good writing to get into something. Look I'm into and deeply in love with Dusney Descendants and that's a piece of garbage. But Hazbin doesn't have the world building and story placements for me to get into it.

As well as I'm an Angst first fandom enjoyer, I don't read or interact with fluff or fix its. And when I say angst, I mean angst. While that is the number 2 tag on AO3, most of it isn't substantial angst with over half of those fics also being tagged with Fluff. This compounding with me also being a Character then a world person (and my favorite character despite being fraught with angst) doesn't have all that many good solo fics.

I still enjoy the vibes and the music (at least one song is going to be in my top 100 spotify I have no doubt) but the fandom and story as a whole just doesn't do it for me. It doesn't have enough character seeds for me to latch on enough to create my own.

It's a mediocre show that is propelled by the fantastic music and somewhat decent character writing but everything else falls flat in my opinion. If you write good and interesting characters, you must give them a place and time to shine and this doesn't do that. Everything is rushed and brushed off without letting us watch and grow excited for character moments.

I have seen multiple sentiments about Angel Dust being the best character solely because he was given a chance to shine, but this is also marred by not giving him a journey to shine and root for.

Perhaps in later seasons, this might be corrected and I'll give it a second chance but as it stands now. It's a no for me.

OH also i just found out the other day that they started making a real Japanese dub of MLP:FIM a couple years ago!!

like there was an old one circa ~2014ish after some company got the rights to sell the toys in Japan, but they only did the first 2 seasons & cut a lot from the episodes for the new jpop intros & endings.

but then apparently Dusney Japan or whatever started dubbing the rest of the show in like 2018 & they're doing the whole thing this time! just looked it up halfway through typing out this post & apparently they even dubbed over the shit from the original Seasons 1&2 dub that they cut out for the first airing run!

it;s even on [HYPERLINKS BLOCKED] apparently so!! i'm planning to do a rewatch of the first 3 or 4 seasons eventually so i can watch the rest of the show that i forsomereason didn't get the first time around, so i'm excited to maybe check out that dub for that? i dunno!

very annoyed the bear s2 isn't available on uk dusney+ until July 19th and they did this with abbott elementary too we didn't get it until over half of season 2 had aired and I swear they better not do this when pjo airs 😭
