"Karma Can Be Very Subtle and Tricky"
Karma Can Be Very Subtle and Tricky On the fifteenth day of the eleventh month of the Fire Tiger year—January 14, 1987—His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje turned to those closest to him and said: “Now I have completed everything. Every prayer that has been asked of me, I have fulfilled. Now I’m going to leave. Please be careful in the future to pay attention. Karma can be very subtle…

About Me

I began practicing Buddhism in 1994 in the Zen tradition and in 1999 at my Zen teacher’s advise, I began looking into Tibetan Buddhism to continue my spiritual path. During that year I went to India to look for a Tibetan lama without success. It wasn’t until 2001 that I found my first lamas, Thubten Phuntsok, and Khenpo Chime Tsering from whom I received meditation and ngondro instructions, and in 2003 I met my root guru, Venerable Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche at the Shambhala Center in New York City. Under his guidance I have completed ngondro practices in retreat, as well as the sadhanas for the three roots, of the Longchen Nyingthik lineage, also in retreat. I have also received teachings, empowerment and transmission and oral instructions from His Holiness Shenpen Dawa Rinpoche (of the two sons of HH Dudjom Rinpoche), as well as empowerments from HH Trulshik Rinpoche, HH Penor Rinpoche, HH Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and HH Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche.
As a part of Mangala Shri Bhuti, our spiritual community, I serve as a Student and Practice Representative or SPR, as a Lobpon (instructor) as well as leading online group practices, transcribing Rinpoche’s teachings and as a discussion leader at some of our programs at Pema Ösel, our center in Vermont, and as a chopon during some of the week-long practice intensives with Rinpoche.
Looking back at the twenty-three years that I have been practicing the dharma, and in particular the guidance and training that I have received from Rinpoche, I can see how this precious path, which is actually a way of life, has been a blessing and a source of inspiration in understanding myself, in breaking free from negative patterns, in instilling new positive ones, and in being of benefit to others not only in ordinary ways, but also in a lasting, meaningful way.
It is my hope to continue serving our sangha and those connected to me in anyway, as well as deepening my personal experience and practice through studies, service and retreat.

The Profound Path of Guru Yoga
“Wether our teachers present in person are ordinary beings or emanations of Buddhas or Bodhisattvas, if we are able to pray to them considering them as the Buddha, there is absolutely no difference between them and the Buddha or Bodhisattva or yidam deity in person, because the source of blessings is devotion. So whichever profound practice we are undertaking, whether the generation phase or the…

The Three Supreme Methods
Whatever practices we do, whether the common ones of taking refuge and making prostrations, the various trainings in bodhichitta, the methods for purifying the defilements of body and speech, or the uncommon practices of the Secret Mantra (the visualization and recitation of Vajrasattva, guru yoga, or meditation on the yidam deity), all that we do — and this is very important—should be…
