The vending machines at the Dublin Port company HQ building don’t work!
And all they do is steal your money!
It’s like they’re self-aware, they don’t wanna work. And I don’t mean that in a corporate jargon propagandist kind of way.
They just REFUSE to work!
I used one last September when I got back from France, it took ALL the coins I had and wouldn’t accept anything else.
But even when I put in the number for a particular item, which was there, it didn’t give me shit.
It just took the money.
And the same thing happened again today!
I’d hoped it was a one-off but I think these vending machines are either rigged, broken, or have become self-aware.
It’s bullshit.

Going to Ireland on Tour and crossing the UK/EU Border using a Carnet
Going to Ireland on Tour and crossing the UK/EU Border using a Carnet

I took Sinead O’Brien to Ireland in October 2022 working as Tour Manager via Holyhead to Dublin Port. Here’s what I would recommend if you have Tour Dates to play, the UK/EU Border to cross, and…

#OTD in 1916 – Easter Rising | The Battle of Mount Street Bridge, Dublin.
Fuair siad bás ar son Saoirse na hÉireann! Commandant de Valera, Lieutenant Michael Malone of the 3rd Battalion, James Grace (Section Commander) and the other volunteers set out on the day of the Rising to march to Boland’s Mill. According to Von Buch the mean temperature of July (not the hottest month in the year) at Saltenfiord in Norway, is as high as 57°.8, and this place is actually 13° nearer the pole than Port Famine!¹
1 With respect to Tierra del Fuego, the results are reduced from the observations by Capt. King (Geographical Journal, 1830), and those taken on board the Beagle. For the Falkland Islands, I am indebted to Capt. Sulivan for the mean of the mean temperature (reduced from careful observation at midnight, 8 A.M., noon, and 8 P.M.) of the three hottest months, viz. December, January, and February. The temperature of Dublin is taken from Barton.

THE CORTEN STEEL SIGN LOOKS LIKE A SHIP
The port company is responsible for pilotage services within Dublin Bay, and manages the three port lighthouses (but not those of Howth or Kish Bank). It also formerly operated two drydocks, which were closed in 2016.
DUBLIN PORT HQ In some of my photographs you may notice a large pool of water at the side of the road. As I was photographing this sign a middle aged woman redirected her car to pass through the water in order to splash me and that is what happened … I had to return home to change as a result. Weathering steel, often referred to by the genericised trademark COR-TEN steel and sometimes written…
