Discussion of murder and unjust killings related to the recent news of Percy Lapid’s murder

Could we please bring attention to the unjust killing of the radio commentator and columnist Percy Lapid who was killed at night when he was known to criticise the n@rcos-du30 admin

Could we bring attention to the fact that someone was killed who was known to encourage people to think critically

Our Press Freedom is starting to be threatened, my country, my beloved motherland’s freedom is being threatened and I’m on the verge of breaking at the thought of it

I know mainland Filipinos are so easy to overlook, I know the country’s a mess and I know this is heavy news to hear but could we at least bring attention to this? Force people to make a move? Make people investigate or condemn or something

I keep joking with my sister that I want to abandon this country but I don’t have the funds to leave, and I don’t think I’d want to leave it. This is the land I’ve been raised in. What a perfect way to encapsulate how people justified Du30's actions and crimes against humanity during his presidency. To them, drug addicts were not people. Criminals, even just those who have committed petty crimes, were not people. The minute they were labelled as anything other than "law abiding", they were subhuman, if even human at all. And this phenomenon during Du30's reign is what horrifies, amazes, and shocks me to this day. How millions of Filipinos could claim solidarity amongst their fellow country men while simultaneously turning a blind eye to the atrocities being committed on Filipino journalists, drug addicts, and those caught in the crossfire of the "War on Drugs".

A few minutes ago, the largest tv network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, was ordered to be shut down legit right now because their franchise contract was denied of renewal. Moments ago, they signed off and everyone is confused.

For context, this feud has been going for a while now (like before COVID and quarantine) and the Natn’l Telecommunication Commission, along with the Solicitor General, issues a cease and desist order against the network and now everyone’s fuqing childhood is GONE.

It’s so fucking weird that there seems to be a hastened to pass the bill of Anti-Terrorism in the Philippines when we are in the middle of the pandemic. The timing is so questionable. The bill has a loose definition of an act of terrorism like going for a protest etc. I think they should not be attacking the public, the people since the government itself is the sole threat to the state.

Ayaw kong nag-e-scroll sa Facebook kasi puro nalang pambabatikos nababasa ko tungkol sayo. "Change is Coming!"

Duterte along with his famous catch phrase, "Change is coming" won May, 2016 elections largely because of a vow to kill tens of thousands of drug dealers, also promising on the campaign trail to close a loophole in the juvenile justice system that he said allowed traffickers to use minors as narcotic couriers.

Because of this, that campaign trail based on our national issues and "silent economy killers", a campaign offered to society, specifically to the most important assets of the nation, which are the children, in need of nurturing and commendable undergoing of counseling and rehabilitation after committing of crimes an adult offender would've done.

Here enters Intensive Juvenile Intervention and Support Center or IJISC, a special facility within the youth care facility or 'Bahay Pag- Asa', functions as a detention center for people under age of majority or under the age of eighteen (18) to which they have been sentenced and committed for a certain period.

Children who've committed serious crimes are actually provided of here, and treated in different stages that will be determined by the court's initial period of placement meaning that they will be treated in a fairly consulting manner, a rehabilitation practice which will only be attained of the implementors given the situation of the children is a relief, that they are in good hands, remembering that the system is planned of being funded, under the budget of the Department of Justice.

Some might argue, that this punishment is too severe and creepily planned; if you take away a child's innate exploration, you take away it's joy of doing so.

However, children have their own differentiating perspective and mindset, and certain ones have gone into the wrong path to be explored in; committing crimes, murders and illegal drugs.

Such things that parents nor those in their inner circle can help restrain, but only the facility that the government can help with the capability of the sufficient budget be allocated, and a holistic program be employed to promote the welfare of the children and enhance their opportunities in life.

Children are the principal citizens of the country... would we just let them wander around committing crimes and have them grow up in the society they rob from and start chaos in? This republic act didn't exist in the past and look at what's happening to the country, full of corrupt and deceitful grown-up people that can only change by the future, starting on nurturing the children and counseling them in a place where future can also be shaped, then and only then the true change will come.
