Anonymous asked: DS NightError “Sometimes I think this was a mistake”

Sometimes the meme squad house was quiet. Mostly when they weren’t there, obviously, but sometimes when they were home as well. It could be from various reasons: they were sleeping. They’d had an argument and were moody. They were in an intense round of the quiet game. Right now, the meme squad house was not quiet.

Yells and shouts echoed through it, and the jarring noise of something falling to the floor. At the noise, the ones responsible shut up for a short moment before returning to their noise-making. Cross watched in wide-eyed horror as his two friends and roommates stood in front of the TV. They were jumping up and down, and Nightmare was holding the console in a convulsive grip. A vase had been thrown to the ground as they’d stood up and overturned the couch table. Error yelled encouragingly as Nightmare steered his character.

On the screen, two Mario carts worked on ramming each other of the road. One of them was obviously Nightmare, but the other was unknown to Cross. He only knew it was someone; this was an online game.

The two weirdos-he-for-some-fricking-reason-called-his-friends screamed as Nightmare managed to get the other player of the road only two seconds before going through the goal. The sound was ear-splitting, and Cross covered his ears as Nightmare threw out with his arms. The console left his hand, flying through the window.

Crash

Glass rained from the window, and covered the floor. Cross groaned loudly, glaring at his friends who stared at the broken window for a short second. Then Error let out another scream and threw himself around Nightmare’s neck. His haphephobia had become so much better the past years. After pressing a kiss to the other’s cheek, they continued screaming.

“sometimes i think this was a mistake,” Cross muttered, going to clean up the glass before someone got hurt. “i should never have said yes when they asked whether i was okay with them dating.”

“Aw, c’mon, Cross!” Nightmare yelled, pouting. They’d stopped hugging, instead holding each other’s hands. Cross rolled his eyes, but smiled slightly. He was happy for them. He really was. Both deserved to be happy.

“Y_yeAH,” Error nodded, grinning widely. “N-NigHTy Just beAt INk in Mari0 CaRT.”

Freezing, Cross slowly turned to face them. Their triumphant expressions grew wider. Blinking, he felt a grin show up on his face. Nodding, he began to chuckle.

“alright. that’s a legit excuse.”

SO, I apologize, Anon. I suppose this wasn’t what you wanted? But I appear to have hit a Writer’s Block again (WHY DOES THAT KEEP HAPPENING??) and this was all I could think of. I hope it’s okay.

A NOTP I have with said character: I guess I don't really like nightmare x blue? At least not as much as I like other ships. But for a genuine notp it would be nightmare x obsidian as always

A random headcanon: oh jeez I have so many. Uh, I guess one that I have is that he has ADHD just because I get the vibe from him.

General Opinion over said character: I love him. A lot. I think he's a really cool character and I can't wait to see how he turns out in fatal flaws. He's currently one of my biggest comfort characters too (and idk if it makes sense to have the most traumatized and emotionally closed off character ad a comfort character but here we are!). I think he needs a break. And probably a hug.

He had been running for what seemed like forever. His brother, Dream, had found where Nightmare and his friends had been temporarily residing and stormed in without a problem.

The air had filled with panic as he darted, barely avoiding a monster who swung at Night. He glanced back, hoping to see his friends and especially his love, Error, behind him. 

Cross was seen escaping, and Night had no clue how he was going to reach him, but he was more worried about Error who wasn’t anywhere.

He had to keep going and pray that Error was up ahead or with Cross.

It had been several weeks since he had been caught. Cross had been moved to a different cell so that Night was not allowed to talk to him. His beloved still had not been found and there had been no attempt to help them.

The guardian curled on the floor after so long.

The quiet was unbearable.

A guard opened the cell and grabbed him, dragging him to his brother.

Dream was holding a sword with a stoic expression. He sensed regret but that wouldn’t hold him back from his goals.

The binding destiny had been severed.

Error wasn’t coming.

Nightmare sat across from Error, both of them sitting sideways and cross-legged on the couch. They’d both decided to have a more relaxed date tonight, and as per usual, Nightmare was letting Error set the pace.

Error took a deep breath, tentatively reaching forward to take Nightmare’s hands in his. He had gotten a lot more comfortable with touching Nightmare, and he usually felt better after the initial touch. It helped that Nightmare always respected his fear, versus of disregarding it for his own benefit.

Error shook his head, trying to clear the memories of Blue that came to the front of his mind as he thought that. He looked up from their hands, focusing on the pair of lavender eyes in front of him as Nightmare smiled reassuringly.

“You okay?” Error smiled, his head falling down as he felt so lucky to have someone that cared enough to ask questions like that.

“Yeah, thanks.” 

Nightmare grinned, beginning to intertwine their fingers less loosely. Error followed suit, holding on more firmly now. He let out a breath, his eyes beginning to close as he relaxed in his presence.

“Can I kiss you?” Nightmare asked suddenly. Error laughed a bit, eyes opening again to see Nightmare smirking at him.

He let go as he began to shift his weight to sit up on his knees. “Sure.”

Nightmare let out a short laugh as he sat up as well, leaning forward to kiss him. Error felt his eyes flutter shut as Nightmare’s hands came up to hold his face lightly. Error set his hands on Nightmare’s shoulders loosely as he sunk into the kiss.

Nightmare pressed forward a bit, taking control of the action. Error let him, bringing his legs out from underneath him as Nightmare pressed him against the arm of the couch. They broke apart shortly after that, with Nightmare leaning over him, grinning.

“Love you,” he said shortly, pecking at his cheek quickly.

Error chuckled, his hands sliding down as he took Nightmare’s hands in his grip again. He brought one up to press a light kiss to it. Nightmare felt his face burn up as he stared down at him.

Error’s face shifted into something more mischievous as he sat up, his nose brushing against Nightmare’s while he murmured. “Love you, too.”

Nightmare felt his breath hitch for a moment, before he paused. “Oh, to heck with it,” he mumbled as he began to kiss Error again, his hands wrapping around the back of his neck as Error sat up to flip their dynamic again. “You’re a good kisser, anyway..”
