VALORANT MEETING + DATE HEADCANONS
Hope you enjoy!
SOVA
He was finishing recon in a snowy forest late at night and was done for the day. He outstretched his arm and sent out the Owl Drone
So far, you had been hiking for about 8 hours through frigid woods and gotten lost about 2 hours earlier. You were trying to make camp for the night but failing to start a fire
You caught a glimpse of Sova’s drone and followed it back to the man, who immediately regarded you with some suspicion but could see you were of his dimension
Deciding to keep an eye on you, he led you back to his campsite and helped you set up your tent next to his
He was kind, and he quietly offered you a seat next to him by the fire. Both of you sat awkwardly at first, not quite sure how to handle the silence
“Do you do archery out here? I noticed the bow and wanted to ask…” you trailed off as he looked at you
He removed the bow and two arrows from his sling. “Would you like a look at them?” You moved closer and inspected them. The technology was intricate but your eyes wandered over to the man sitting close to you
“What brings you out here?”
“I wanted to do the Blue Lakes trail but I got lost a while back. I was planning on stargazing at the top but…” you gestured to your compass, “I got lost”
“I leave here tomorrow, and I can show you to the trail if you would like.” Sova offered
You accepted his offer and both of you went to your tents for the night
Humiliatingly, the trail back was marked but Sova didn’t seem to care that you got lost so easily. The two of you just chatted about the surroundings while traveling onward
At the trailhead, you had to part ways. But it didn’t have to be the end, and you made a fast decision and asked to see him again
“I’d love to! What did you have in mind?”
Sova Date
At the trailhead, you finished tying your boots before a familiar voice called out
“Hello y/n! Should we start walking?” Sova had dressed in pants and a blue flannel jacket
Both of you continued up to a clearing in the forest, just as the sun was begging to set
You laid out a large blanket from your pack and set it down. Sova took out a pair of bags and bottles of water
You hadn’t expected him to bring home cooked food, but you weren’t complaining either
Sova and you made yourselves comfortable, and ate while you waited for the evening to turn to night
Conversing with him was always peaceful. He listened deeply and always responded with optimism or curiosity
The North Star was the first to appear, followed by a few faint constellations
Within an hour, the sky was overrun with stars. Each point of light layered on another creating a portrait of the galaxy
Sova and you took turns pointing out constellations, each time trying to remember what each star was named
Both of you relied on the book of astronomy you brought along to figure out what was in the sky
Sova had an understanding of stars to navigate, and would name stars in Russian or translate what he could
Although you and him were occupied with stargazing, you started to succumb to the cold of the night
“Y/N, are you cold?”
“No, it’s nothing you need to-”
Sova took his jacket off and place it on you. The lining inside was warm from Sova’s body heat
“Are you still cold? Come here, and stay close to me.” Sova gestured for you to join his side
For the rest of the night, you and him stayed in almost constant contact until you both decided to head back
You followed behind Sova, his sense of direction and torch lit the way. Despite being deep in the wilderness, you felt safe in his presence
When you arrived at the trailhead, Sova said his goodbyes. He made sure you would arrive home safely before leaving. His jacket was still on you
“Sova, you forgot this.” you held his jacket out to him.
“Keep it Y/N, I want you to have it for the next outing. I hope it brings you much warmth and comfort while I am away.”
“Here’s something to remind you of me.” you gave Sova a kiss
He was a blushing mess, and held you close before departing back to the Valorant HQ
While you traveled back to your home, you ran your fingers over the soft material of Sova’s jacket. It smelled faintly of him
DEADLOCK
You were in LA when the Landfall facility erupted and you were caught in the crossfire of Omega and Alpha variants. A single Shock Arrow went off course and hit you with enough voltage to knock you out
Once you came to, Deadlock had finished performing CPR on you, including mouth to mouth.
When you came to, your face was covered in blonde locks of hair, gazing into eyes with intense blue irises, and her body pressed against yours
Iselin was red in the face, and so were you. Perhaps for the same reason…
Other agents were finishing off the Omega team, Iselin didn’t really have anything else to worry about other than stabilizing you
“Can you tell me your name?” she asked, hoping to establish if you were coherent
You replied perfectly, and set her at ease. Then you had an idea, and asked for her name
“Deadlo- Iselin, my name is Iselin” she responded
Because you managed to get at least a name, you pressed your luck and asked more about her
“That will have to wait, we’re taking you a hospital to make sure you weren’t injured in any other way”
Sage gave you a check up and confirmed you were fine, then hooked up a heart monitor before leaving to inspect other agents
Iselin walked over to see how you were doing, then sat next to your cot. It was another chance to get to see her and you tried to converse politely with her
As you chatted she kept looking over your shoulder to something, all while still remaining invested in your conversation
“Do I make you nervous?” She asked softly
“What! No! Why would you think that?” you quickly answered back
“It’s just that the monitor says you have an elevated heart rate.”
Looking behind you, the screen did show you that weren’t as relaxed
“Oh!” you exclaimed, “It’s just that, I find you kind of… attractive”
The machine was beeping rapidly now, but not detracting from the silence that swallowed the moment between you and Iselin. She spoke first
“Would you like to spend some time together then?” she was blushing as much as you
As you walked out of the clinic, you made plans to see her again
Deadlock Date
You and Iselin decided to meet at a Valorant safehouse that Cypher had once used. He promised he removed all the cameras
She had prepared some ingredients for dinner you could cook together. Cooking was something she did with her old team
Because you were in LA still, she managed to find fresh salmon at a market and decided to cook it
She gutted it in front of you, and taught you how to debone, clean and prepare the fish. Her skill with the knife was amazing, if not intimidating
You asked a for some help and she took your hand, showing you the right way to cut
The rest of the preparation was easier, requiring less input. It was during this that you talked to Iselin
For her, it was refreshing to find someone who didn’t know about her past, the trauma she’d endured, and could let in gradually
You came to understand that she was ex-military but nothing official. Her main expertise was in tracking and scouting, which you decided to test
You’d ask about urban legends or survival stories and she’d debunk them or let in on a fact about hunting
The incredulous reactions you had managed to coax a smile out of her
As dinner began, you both started sharing more personal stories and began to get more well-acquainted with the other’s background
Iselin bristled when you asked why she was with Valorant, and she decided to say as much as she could stomach
“I had something happen to me and they were there for me.” Her eyes darted to her prosthetic arm
There was a moment of silence, tension rose
“I’m glad they were there for you, if they weren’t I don’t think I would have met you.”
The words touched Iselin deeply, and she could only utter out a phrase
“Tusen takk.” she smiled up at you
As you finished your dinner you both had easier conversations about personal tastes. It was here you found that Iselin enjoyed hiking
“Would you like to go hiking with me?” you asked tentatively
Iselin’s face lit up and she quickly responded with “Ja takk!”
Sadly she had to leave soon and you both exited the safehouse. Iselin turned to you as you closed the door
“Y/N, thank you. It hasn’t been easy to let people get close but you’ve helped me relax a bit. I won’t forget you y/n.”
You got the sense Iselin was signaling something, and you leaned in. She kissed you and held you close, then cautiously let go
She left you the same way she found you: breathless
ISO
Your day at work had come to an end, and you stepped off of your bus preparing to walk the rest of the way home
Iso’s had already began, as he was chasing down a member of his past corporation. He had finished off their friends, now it was time to end them
His target had managed to jump out of the window to avoid capture, but Iso didn’t let up even as their chase took them onto the street
A small commotion occurred as Iso’s prey shoved you to put distance between his assassin
As they ran past you, one of Iso’s headphones fell out
Right in front of you as he ran into an alley from your sight
What else were you to do? Of course you had to return it to him (not because you wanted to get a better look at him)
You began to head towards the alley to see if you could catch Iso in time. Meanwhile Iso put his abilities into practice
Iso’s target fell right into the Kill Contract, and the assassin stepped into the space disappearing into the Interverse
Of course you didn’t see anything, just a few strange purple particles floating through the air nearby
By the time he stepped out of his Kill Contract he ran right into you and you both fell over
Iso was bewildered and worried a civilian had discovered his secret
He and you caught a glimpse of each other and stopped struggling
Sheepishly, you handed him back his headphone and he took it back while being careful to hide the pistol he had in his coat
After helping you to your feet, you asked him what he was listening to and his reply of 99 God was a welcome surprise
“Wait, do you like his music too?” you asked
“Of course, I’ve been to some of his shows too. I have playlists full of him.”
You just happened to have 2 tickets to a concert of his, and seizing on the opportunity you asked if he would be interested
It was a yes
Iso Date
At the concert, you met Iso at the front before walking in together. The ticket staff asked if you were a couple while scanning your passes
Iso blushed immediately and you felt your soul vacate your body
“Ye- maybe?” “Well it wouldn’t be that, b-” “Uh I think so?”
You both hurried in to the concert and got over the shock
“That was kind of awkward right? Who even asks that kind of question?” Iso broke the tension
“I don’t understand people sometimes.” you replied
Eventually that faded into background as the music started, it was a something else to focus on
You and Iso joined the crowd in excitement, dancing and singing to the music that leapt from the speakers
The opening set was absolutely worth the ticket cost
“THIS IS AMAZING!” you cried out. Iso agreed emphatically
Lost in the moment, you watched Iso feeling the rhythm as purple lights from a nearby projector shown on the crowd
You gazed at him in awe as violet lasers ran over both of your faces, he stared back with equal entrancement
Deciding to embrace the moment, you both stole a quick kiss when smoke machines shrouded the crowd and the show ended
On your way out, Iso and you both talked about your favorite songs, the performance, and the special effects
“This was a great night y/n, we should do something like this again.”
Barely holding back your excitement, you kissed him again before heading home
Iso walked back home listening to a track titled “Songs for Y/N”
Being a hitman was a lonely job, and even since he had joined Valorant he still lacked closeness. Luckily, he had found you
GEKKO
Thrash had gotten away from him while he was out running a few errands, and he was worrying at this point
He heard the sound of the creature knocking over cans and moving around the isles. He dashed over to see her pouncing from a shelf into a cart
Your cart
She didn’t revert to a globule, but instead curled up into the cart along with your groceries. Gekko was beyond panicked at this point
You cautiously reached down and tapped on the critter, and when it nuzzled your hand you started to pet it
Gekko was astounded by Thrash getting along with someone, and stood there in awe as you picked her up and continued to scratch her belly
You noticed him staring at you with his jaw hanging open
“Uh, is this yours?” you asked while handing Thrash over to him. She flew into Gekko’s satchel excitedly
“Uh, yeah, thanks for catching her. I never see her get along with other people so it’s kind of weird to see her like this. The rest of my crew is a lot more chill.”
“The rest of your crew?” you asked. Gekko realized he said too much at that point
“Well I’m not supposed to talk about it but…a no la importa ahorita.” he summoned Wingman and placed him in your hands
You saw your chance and took it
“I’d love to get to them and you too if you wanted to do something some time.”
Gekko went red, then smiled
“Meet me tomorrow evening at the Kingdom train depot, past the security fence.”
It was a date, one you were eager for but slightly worried about
Gekko Date
Following Gekko’s instructions was easy enough, getting into the trainyard was easy but the fear of being caught was palpable
It was kind of a rush though, sneaking by all of the cameras and guards. You knelt down behind some crates and let out a sigh
A finger tapped on your shoulder and you twisted around in fear
“Oye, calma!” Gekko whispered. “It’s me, you can chill.” He smiled at you and gestured to a bag you carried
It was filled with spray paints of different colors rattled around inside. Gekko walked you over to a train car he had already covered in stencils
He grabbed 2 cans gleefully and shook them together. He tossed the other to you and grinned. “Lista? Let’s do this.”
You both got to work, assisted by Wingman to keep watch and hand paint cans. Deep blues and electric greens covered the car at first, followed by pastel violets.
Cans of paint traded hands, fingers brushing near but never touching. Until Gekko looked up at the top stencil and had an idea
He hoisted you up on his shoulders and had you paint it. Wobbling back and forth, you sprayed the last parts of the design before he cautiously let you down
“Ok, I want you to close your eyes alright?” Gekko pleaded. “Wait up, okay 3. 2. 1”
Your eyes opened and saw the beauty you and him created together
It was a scene of a jungle at night, navy blue foliage covering up most of it while neon green fireflies dotted the mural. In the middle was a prowling jaguar with a cub between its front legs
“It’s beautiful…” you whispered
“you are too” whispered Gekko. Wingman abruptly pushed you both together and you met each other’s gaze
Both of you kissed each other quickly before blushing and quickly breaking down into embarrassed apologies
“You, I. We should, do this more right?”
“Yeah, por supuesto”
Wingman lived up to his name that night
CHAMBER
You’d met at after a charity dinner hosted by Kingdom, and it was the most boring thing you’d ever attended
It was a show of corporate goodwill but mainly to placate the public. The only reason you showed up is because the donations went straight to your city
Plus free wine, which you had taken and were drinking on a balcony that gave you some space from everyone else
“Fait froid non?”
You turned to see a tall man dressed in a fine suit and prismatic tie, his hand extended in greeting
“Vincent Fabron, enchante”
He took your hand, refraining from kissing it and instead shooting you a flirtatious grin
He made small talk with you about the event, and brought up that he had been with Kingdom as a guest. Both of you started talking about each other's lives
Fabron asked if you had a partner
You blushed a bit and replied “no,” to which he responded “Tres bien, then would you be free for dinner sometime this week?”
You were taken aback by how forward he was, but then again he was a gentleman and quite handsome
A digital chime broke the silence and Fabron checked his wristwatch. An alert was going off, accompanied by some V-shaped sign
“I look forward to meeting you once more,” he gestured to his watch, “but I am afraid I have some responsibilities to tend to. Au revoir”
He waved at you as he went back inside and disappeared
In your hands was the card, which had the address of a high end restaurant and a time written on it. The other side was the business card of Vincent ‘Chamber’ Fabron
Chamber Date
Dressed in your finest clothing, you waited outside of the restaurant building but were unsure where Chamber was
You pulled out the card to see if you had made a mistake and noticed a colorful glow coming from it
In a flash of radiant energy you were teleported, right into a private room with Vincent waiting
“Bonne nuit, I hope the teleportation was comfortable. Let me get your seat.”
Vincent had finished lighting candles, setting plates, and took your coat before seating you across from him
You sat down to a prepared dinner of salad, coq au vin, and fresh bread
Vincent pressed something on his watch, then teleported a bottle of red wine to his hand and opened it. He poured your glass and sat down as he poured his own
He began asking more about your life, interests, and even a few intimate questions
You naturally responded with your own questions, learning about his time at Kingdom and even a little about his time with Valorant
He asked about your life some more, not forgetting any of the details you told him the first time you met
By the time you both had finished the wine, it felt as if you knew the other as lifelong partners. Vincent was listening to you explain something, but you became nervous
“Am I boring you? I didn’t mean to-”
“I assure you, nothing you do could ever be boring. There’s nobody more invested in you than me, Y/N.”
You were taken aback, and felt a spark of something. On an impulse you leaned in
Chambers' lips met yours and both of you kissed, he had found a private room so the moment you both shared was only yours to know
When you finished, Vincent sat back confidently with a somewhat knowing, if not smug, look on his face
“I’ve been waiting for you to do that all night”
FADE
Istanbul is a lively city, so the few places that offered a bit of peace were an oasis. One such oasis was a bookstore in Kadikoy
You had paged through books but hadn’t really found anything that piqued your interest yet. The saturation of supernatural romances and dystopian teen novels wasn’t helping
A woman with dark hair was also reading through another book, but unlike you was invested. She sat at a table with a glass of warm tea
Her hands obscured the title, but you wanted to know if it was worth reading
Not like you had other reasons
“Uhh hi, what are you reading?”
You came face to face with mismatched eyes and a curious stare
“Dune,” she moved her hand to let you see the cover, “I’ve had it recommended to me by friends. It’s quite good.”
You instinctively replied, “I know right, especially when Paul-” you cut yourself off before spoiling the book
Fade wasn’t normally in a mood to talk with strangers, but something about you was different to her
Normally she could feel fear emanate from people near her, however she didn’t get any sense you held fear
Of course this intrigued her
“Do you come to this store often? I come here often but I haven’t seen you here before.”
You told her you were visiting for the first time but often went to another store that closed
“So you read often, what genre is your favorite?” she had set down her book
“I prefer science fiction, but I’ll read anything with good characters.” you replied. “What do you prefer?”
“The same, although I’ll read anything when I have the chance.” she took a sip from her glass
Just as she finished, one of Istanbul’s many cats entered the store. A calico covered in large orange spots and one giant black spot across its back
It came up to you and began rubbing against your legs. Then it came over to Fade and did the same
“She seems to like you,” you mentioned before Fade took the calico and fed it something from her bag. She held it in her lap as it chewed on whatever it was eating
“Come, she is friendly.” Fade invited you next to her. Obliging, you sat down and started petting the cat
“What is your name?”
“Hazal”
“And you are?”
“Y/N,” you took your chance, “Would you want to get khave some time and talk a bit more?”
“Evet, that sounds lovely”
Fade Date
The neighborhood of Moda provided the perfect place to reacquaint yourself with Hazal
Naturally as you were on your way over, Hazal found you first. The woman is a bounty hunter after all
“Merhaba!” Hazal surprised you and led you into a small cafe. There were only a few other customers, leaving you and her mostly alone
She ordered khave, and you ordered the same. The Turkish coffee brought to you was the first you ever had
It was like drinking coffee grounds and pure caffeine in a cup. It was an acquired taste but very easy to acquire
Hazal and you talked about books you had read recently. You compared some of the adaptations you both saw in theaters, agreeing mostly that the books were better
The conversation moved to life, and you asked about what Hazal did. She mentioned that she did ‘private investigation’ but now works with a private security organization
It was a secretive topic, but you were fine with her answer. It was more important to focus on the future
“Y/N, have you ever had your fortune read?” Hazal asked
“Not really, do you know how to tell the future?” you replied, you were curious at this point
Hazal pointed to your empty cup
You passed it over to her and she looked it over. She searched it over and then set it in the middle of the table
“I see in your future…a deep unrest and sudden death.” She turned up to you with a dire look in her eyes
“I’m going to die?” you asked. Hazal’s facade broke and she laughed a bit
“Hayir, relax, it is only a joke. In fact you’ll like the reading better now.”
You calmed a bit, and laughed a bit at how she managed to mess with you
“It seems like you’re going to go through some change, brought on by things beyond your control.” she paused to look over the coffee cup, “But something will bring you great solace during this.”
“I wish I knew what that something was. Do you see anything else about it?” you asked
“Well I have one theory,” Hazal pointed to herself, “It could be someone, not something.”
You decided to flirt a bit more, “And who could that be?”
“Someone close, someone mysterious maybe? They could even be right here.”
“I’d bet they’d even go for a kiss if given the chance,” you caught Hazal leaning in as you said it
You shared a kiss with her, the first of many
VIPER
She rarely ventured outside of her lab and between running Valorant and missions, she had to keep her time off brief and tended to try keep a low profile
Her time outside of the HQ was generally spent visiting parts of the world and visiting art museums
Viper had a particular love of the arts, and museums were often silent so there was little interference from other people
Except for you
She was observing Goya’s Black Paintings, specifically Saturn Devouring His Son. It’s savagery was overwhelming and therefore intrigued her
You sat down on a bench to observe it as well, and maybe the other person in here with you. The grotesque painting was enthralling, if not disturbing to think about
Then she sat down next to you, and you tried to keep your eyes on the painting. It was impossible not to dart your eyes over to her
“Why do you keep looking at me?” Viper spoke in a bitter tone
Thinking as fast as you could you explained that you weren’t looking at her per say, rather just the…painting behind her. You were looking over at Duelo a Garrotazos
She raised an eyebrow and sighed, “That’s an awful lie.”
To prove your innocence you went into detail about what you knew about the painting: History, interpretation, value, and origin.
Sabine’s suspicion turned to interest
“You know art quite well, is it a passion of yours or a profession?”
“Just a passion, and I wasn’t trying to stare at you.”
“I’m not as concerned with that anymore, what I am curious about is what brings you here.”
“Just wanted to look at the collection. By the way, I never got your name.”
“Sabine, and yours is?”
“Y/N”
“Have you ever painted before Y/N? Or are you mostly a critic?” Sabine’s intense green eyes studied your reaction
“Only a little bit, but I enjoy it when I have the chance.”
“Would you be interested in joining me at a studio sometime this week? I rented a space.”
Caught off guard, you quickly asked if she was trying to ask you out. She was less interrogative now, and being genuine in her offer
“I would love to.” you answered.
An alert from Sabine’s phone broke the moment. Her face contorted into exasperation, and she quickly texted something back.
“It appears I have something to attend to Y/N. We should discuss this later.”
Sabine handed you a page from a pocket book with her number, and after she took one last look at the gallery, left the museum
As she left, you heard her mutter something about her lab and ‘Phoenix,’ whatever that meant
Her leaving was a bit abrupt, but you would be seeing her again and you could hardly wait
Viper Date
Viper didn’t tell anyone about your date except for Brimstone
In her space she had assembled what she could for a still life: a few beakers and a collection of poisonous flowers like Oleandar, Belladonna, and Hemlock
Her arrangement was of flowers sticking out of scientific glasses. It wasn’t the most ornate but it did offer plenty to paint
Knocking several times, you waited outside for Sabine to let you in. She greeted you with a softer tone than at the museum
You began assembling your palette with Sabine. You went for realistic colors, she went for darker variants
Each of you took a couple of brushes, dipped them in a glob of paint, and began your still-lifes
As you painted, you started discussing what each of you did for work, then chatted about art and world events
Both of you blamed Kingdom for much of the world’s current issues, and Sabine shared stories from when she worked for them
Some of them were definitely a little worrying, considering she had not only slightly poisoned coworkers but avoided being fired in doing so
Her understanding of chemistry was incredible to listen too, she had a clear passion for it
“Why do you like working with poison so much?”
“I’m good at it, there’s not much more to it,” she paused, assessing her answer,
“But I guess I enjoy what they mean to us. We fear them because we don’t understand them, but once we do they control life and death. I like that, the power they give to those willing to take it.”
“So you think of what you do as a way to help people, but using something that people don’t trust.”
“I suppose so.”
“Do you ever feel alone then?” Sabine paused mid brushstroke, “It must be difficult having interests people are afraid of.”
“It can be Y/N, but I’ve found it isn’t as bad anymore. Poisons have their place in my life, people are earning theirs.” She went back to her palette
You added in more pastels to make the flowers stand out against the background
Once you were done, you shared the results with one another. Yours was more bright, and had heavier detail. Sabine’s was more abstract, focusing on brush strokes and tone
At the end, you both exchanged the paintings as a parting gift
Sabine cautiously asked if you would like to have dinner some time. She picked at one of her nails waiting for a response
“Of course!” you replied. Then leaned in and gave a Sabine a quick peck on the cheek
She could hardly get a word out
You and her left the studio planning on dinner and more art nights in the future. You had settled on portraits next
Sabine later thought about asking you pose nude for a portrait but dismissed the thought
CYPHER
Normally, you tried to stay away from explosions, gunfire, and energy blasts. While slipping away you were caught in a leftover trip wire you didn’t see
The wire had tangled your legs, and forced you on the ground
You were frantically struggling against the wires when you heard footsteps
“Well, well, it appears a fly has gotten caught in my web. Let’s see who it is.” a voice coldly whispered
A man in a white coat and hat stepped from behind the corner with a gun drawn. His eyes were hidden by a dark mask, mechanical blue eyes took their place. Unfeeling
At least until he saw you. Despite the mask you saw the shock take hold immediately
“Oh, apologies,” he reached his hand out and retrieved the wire, “I wasn’t expecting others to get caught”
The initial fear you had turned to confusion
“Who are you?” you asked
“I prefer people I don’t know to call me Cypher. Allow me to lead you out of here.”
His offer seemed genuine and you didn’t have any other choice but to follow him into a hidden room where he sat you down
“I didn’t mean to catch you, I hope it was not uncomfortable.” he sounded regretful, and seemed to truly care about you
“Here,” he handed you your phone, “you dropped this while you were struggling.”
As you checked your phone over, you noticed the screen was glitching out. It was randomly receiving and exporting data
Your savior/captor was entering something into a desktop set up in the room. He was typing up something while you scrutinized your phone
Cypher turned back to you, and you caught a glance of a computer screen. It read: SECURED DATA
“So, Y/N. What brought you out here? I know you aren’t a threat, but I’m still going to make sure you don’t reveal anything to someone else.”
“How did you know my name?” Cypher pointed at your glitching phone. “You hacked my phone?”
“No, I bugged it. Check the back, I planted it there when I handed it to you. I wanted to make sure you weren’t spying.”
A small silver disc clung to the back of your phone. You struggled to pull it off, so Cypher offered to help
“You don’t need to worry about me holding onto any of your secrets, I cleared the data once I was done.”
“Do you always hack people's phones when you meet them?”
“Yes.” Cypher’s answer was completely serious, not a hint of sarcasm
You asked more questions, getting a better idea of who this mysterious man was. It was difficult to get clear answers
“Y/N, I trade secrets for a living. Give me something and I’ll give you something.”
You thought intensely, then it hit you
“I’ll tell you anything about me you want, but on one condition.”
Cypher’s interest piqued. He leaned in to meet your gaze
“If you take me somewhere that means something to you, you can interrogate me as much as you want.”
His mask stretched in brief surprise, then slyly relaxed as he sat back in his seat. He clasped his hands together
“You surprised me with that Y/N. It’s hard to surprise me, so I’ll take you up on your little interrogation.”
Cypher Date
Cypher’s coordinates and description were slightly difficult to follow, but regardless you managed to get there on time
You asked for the second floor room in the tea shop, and were led up some stairs into a room with cushions, drawn shades, and hanging lamps
The entire room was bathed in dim colorful light and smelled faintly of mint
Next to the table was Cypher, his mask undone but eyes covered with glasses
“Ah, Y/N! Have a seat, the tea was just brought up.” he gestured to a silver tea pot
You placed yourself across from him and watched as he poured a cup of tea, taking care to stretch his arm upwards to let the tea cool as it fell
He passed the cup to you and motioned for you to drink. You took a small sip from the steaming broth
It was the best thing you had ever tasted. It was sweet like honey but had a distinct taste of mint. Moroccan tea was your new favorite drink to say the least
Cypher enjoyed it with you
“So, even though I may have researched you for security I sadly didn’t get to know you that well. Tell me more about you.”
You told him about what you did for work, and the places you had traveled to. Cypher probably knew about it but was still invested
He had his fair share of stories too. A life of information brokering and spying left him with some incredible tales
His ability to make you hang on every word was unlike anything you had heard before. The man was a natural storyteller, and invested you quickly
By the time you and Cypher had finished most of the tea, it was getting late and you were beginning to learn more about Cypher’s personal life
“Can I trust you with something Y/N?” Cypher removed his glasses to look at you clearly. His eyes were a deep shade of mahogany
“Sure, I won’t tell anyone if you don’t want me to.”
“My name, my real name, is Amir. People who are close to me know it, I believe you should know who I am too.”
“Amir,” you said while getting closer, “that’s a beautiful name. I’m glad you trust me with it.”
Amir and you said your goodbyes outside of the tea shop, using his alias of course
“Cypher, before you leave again I wanted to thank you for saving me.”
“It was no-”
You kissed him while you had the chance. You did want to thank him after all
Amir was more than receptive to it, and you eventually had to break it off. Glasses hid his eyes, but not his excitement
You had captured him this time
YORU
You heard the sound of something falling over and metallic components spilling everywhere
Readying a baseball bat, you flung the door open and prepared to swing
Instead of a thief or even an animal, you were face to face with an oni. Spectral blue energy spilled from the out from the portal it was clawing its way out of
Its bright blue eyes glowed with power, and it stepped through the portal towards you
In your panic you swung and hit him in the ribs
“KUSO! THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM!”
On closer inspection, the ‘oni’ from before was a man in a bike jacket and wearing a mask. It didn’t change the fact he was in your garage
“Who are you and why are you in my garage?” You readied another swing
“Yoru, and I just teleported here because I was making an escape. I didn’t think anyone was home.”
After a few seconds, Yoru tried to get back up but stumbled. A red stain on his shirt gave away why
“Did you get shot?”
“What of it? You hit me with a bat so I don’t get why you give a shit.”
You realized that not only was Yoru wounded, he was also unarmed too. He had nothing aside from the mask he wore
“Stay here, I’m gonna get you some bandages and gauze.”
“I don’t need that. I’ll manage without you, plus I don’t think you know what you’re doing. No offense but I’m not gonna take help from-”
Yoru winced as you applied rubbing alcohol to the wound. He inhaled sharply as you cleaned the bullet hole and applied aid
Once you had patched him up, he sat in the garage across from you
“So what’s your name?”
“Y/N.”
“Do you always beat your patients before helping them out? Or are you that bad at first aid?”
“You wear that mask because you got a messed up face?” you weren’t about to take insults from Yoru after you saved him
He removed the mask, and to your shock he was quite good looking. He continued to scowl at you between sarcastic comments
He noticed the motorcycle in the garage, and gestured to it
“Oi Y/N. That yours?”
“Yes, why are you asking?”
“I ride too,” Yoru adjusted his bandage before standing up, “looks like yours has got a bit damage.”
It was true, the motorcycle needed repairs and it was a chore to look up videos and learn to fix it. It was good to learn, but time consuming
“I could look it over,” Yoru smirked at you, “but I’m not feeling so grateful right now.”
“Then you can come back later as thanks for me patching that hole in your stomach. Sound good?”
Yoru was surprised at the offer, and despite his outward personality did retain a sense of politeness from his time as a yakuza
“I could come by again. If I teleport in, you better not lose your mind again and hit me. That pissed me off last time.”
“I’ll get it out if you forget to come by.”
“You’ve got a deal, Y/N.”
Yoru Date
Yoru teleported into the garage later than when he said he would. A blue flash alerted you to his arrival
He went over to your toolbox, taking wrenches out and checking the sizes of bolts. He also removed his jacket, placing it nearby
“Start it up, I wanna hear the engine.” Yoru tossed you the keys. The sputtering of the engine was not a great sign
“It’s the carburetor,” Yoru was absolutely certain in his voice
You and him got to work taking apart the bike and getting into the engine. It was an older model of motorcycle, but Yoru seemed to know exactly what to take apart
Both of you finally got to the engine, and removed part of the engine block to get to the carburetor
“We need to replace it. Give me a second, don’t touch anything else.” Yoru disappeared into a portal
In the minute he was gone, the engine began to ooze black fluid. You rolled your sleeves up and started to remove the engine block to keep it from leaking more
Yoru stepped back, holding a replacement carburetor
“What are you doing?”
“The engine is leaking oil, I took it out so nothing else gets oil on it.”
He got down to look at engine you removed, his disapproval turning to satisfaction. He picked up a wrench and handed it to you
“Take the rest of it apart, we’re fixing the whole block. After that, we’re gonna do everything else.”
After a few hours, the bike engine, tires, and suspension were replaced with new versions. Yoru even stole some paint and redid the color on the bike
He got on the bike and started it. A smooth growl came from the new engine
“Hop on, Y/N. You and I are gonna make sure nothing’s wrong with the bike.” you both grabbed helmets
You got behind Yoru and held yourself close to his back. Your hands were firmly around his torso
He revved the engine and peeled out of the garage. Yoru sped towards the highway and weaved between cars
Street lights and vehicles blurred around you as the motorcycle rushed past them all. Yoru’s driving was precise, but he was pushing the engine to the limit any chance he got
Cold wind forced you to hold Yoru tighter for warmth. Even through the jacket, he kept you from freezing
Yoru’s driving had attracted some police cars, to which Yoru decided to let chase him. He began the chase by popping a wheelie and tearing ahead
The cruisers tried to keep pace with him, but couldn’t match his speed. Yoru flipped them off as he escaped
Suddenly a blockade appeared on your horizon. Yoru seemed to smile through his helmet. “Keep holding on.” he commanded
He drifted the bike into the blockade as he activated his mask. You and him rode the bike into the rift
Your escape led you right into the garage, where Yoru skidded to a halt. He hopped off the bike and smirked at you
“So, how do you like my driving Y/N?”
“That was insane. I loved it!”
“You’ll like this too then.”
Yoru grabbed you and kissed you. It lasted for a second but the moment seemed longer than that
When the initial shock wore off, you turned to a slightly blushing Yoru
“We should go for a joyride more often.” you muttered with what little sense you had

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed on Nov. 18 that a riot control agent known as CS has been used in Ukraine, as evidence mounts that Russia has scaled up its attacks using chemical weapons in recent months.
The United Nations watchdog OPCW's first confirmation about the tear gas usage comes as Russia has intensified its use of chemical agents since the beginning of the year to advance forward across Ukraine's front line.
Russian drones throw gas grenades into dugouts or trenches in an attempt to force Ukrainian soldiers out into the open field, making them easy prey for drone or artillery attacks.
The U.S. and the U.K. have confirmed Russia's deployment of chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers, slapping sanctions on Russia's troops of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense, their chief, Russian Defense Ministry scientific centers, and companies involved.
The Ukrainian military has reported that it recorded over 4,600 cases of Russia using gas attacks on the battlefield since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, including 323 incidents in November.
Without naming Russia nor directly confronting Moscow for violating the Chemical Weapons Convention, the OPCW said that samples from both the grenade and the soil sample retrieved from a September incident at a specific trench "contained the riot control agent 2-Chlorobenzylidenemalononitrile, known as CS."
While often used to disperse riots and considered nonlethal, the OPCW says that tear gas, including CS, is "considered chemical weapons if used as a method of warfare."
The samples — which underwent separate testing in two OPCW-designated laboratories — were collected from a trench "located along the confrontation lines with the opposing troops" in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, according to the report.
The OPCW said in the Nov. 18 report that the watchdog's Director-General, Ambassador Fernando Arias, "expressed grave concern over the findings."
"All 193 OPCW Member States, including the Russian Federation and Ukraine, have committed never to develop, produce, acquire, stockpile, transfer or use chemical weapons," Arias said.
He stressed that the parties have declared that "any use of chemical weapons is totally unacceptable and would violate the legal norms and standards of the international community."
Earlier in May, OPCW said that Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of deploying chemical weapons, but "the information provided to the Organization so far by both sides, together with the information available to the Secretariat, is insufficiently substantiated."
Kyiv's rising concerns over unidentified gas
While Russia's usage of chemical agents has slightly decreased since August, when 447 cases were recorded by the Ukrainian military within a month, Kyiv has been concerned about unidentified gas being deployed against its soldiers.
Lacking "hundreds" of complex detectors that cost $100,000 to $600,000 to identify the chemicals used by Russian troops, the Ukrainian military has struggled to name the new or mixed types of gas to find a solution on how to protect its personnel, Ukrainian Colonel Artem Vlasiuk told the Kyiv Independent in October.
Of the 323 recorded cases of Russia's chemical attacks in October, all except 15 incidents were "unidentified," according to Vlasiuk from the Support Forces' Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Command, a branch of the army responsible for inspecting chemical warfare.
The officer said that Ukraine struggled to identify the new types of gas because it lacked sophisticated high-end detector technology to diagnose beyond the few prototypes in its library — which includes CS, CN, chloropicrin, and ammonia.
It is often very difficult to send specialists to the front line for evidence collection, as it would mean risking their lives by having them walk kilometers to reach the positions. And when soldiers come under gas attacks, gathering the remains of the grenades used is usually not the priority.
The concerns over the unidentified gas come as dozens of Ukrainian soldiers interviewed by the Kyiv Independent across the front over the summer acknowledged their lack of preparedness to face chemical warfare. Many said they were only given the poor quality Soviet-era gas masks and that they do not take it to positions because they are skeptical of its effectiveness.
Often, comparing the danger of chemical agents to KAB guided-aerial bombs, artillery, and precise FPV drones, the infantrymen interviewed often downplayed the threat of gas — arguing that they had more chance of being killed or wounded by conventional arms.
At least three Ukrainian soldiers died from Russia's gas attacks, and almost 2,100 soldiers sought medical care after such incidents, according to the Support Forces. Many more could have gone unrecorded.

Please talk about the individual limebloods
All of them? Okay.
Long post incoming.
Let's start with Chahut. Pre-extermination, she was a simple woman. She was never bothered by the fact that she'll never adquire a decent futute due to her blood caste. Rather, she just simply accepted it. Crocheting was and still is her favorite thing to do, and she usually donated her pieces to lowbloods in need, especially during colder seasons.
She met Amisia when she was holding an artowrk display. She complimented the goldblood for her incredible talent at such a young age, and how she used her psionics smartly. Amisia says she gets that a lot. Ever since, they were inseperable. Chahut often crocheted winter clothes for her, and even saved her once from a highblood who was jealous of her work.
After the mass murdering began, Chahut fled from her neighbourhood and hid in a cavern for a day. She came back to see everything destroyed, and her lusus dead. With nowhere else to go, she stayed under what once was her home. Amisia got super worried after hearing about the news and not receiving any messages from Chahut for days, so she went to the place she lived to find her in a very poor situation.
Chahut convinced her to move away to the countryside, very far away from the city. They now live in a hive which was left by a freshly turned adult. Amisia never had physical art displays again, and only shows her works through pictures on her social media accounts. The limeblood, after having access to technology once again, could finally understand clearly what was happening and, in one of the articles she was reading, The Grand Mutantblood was mentioned.
She was intrigued. This was the first time she read that name, which would have changed everything for her. He was a troll that lived centuries ago, notorious for his candy red blood, and wishes for a more peaceful world. Chahut began worshipping him and preaching his word, wanting nothing more but peace.
Marvus used to live in a small lowblood village, habitated mostly by limebloods like him. Back then, he was mostly just known for his looks, especially in such a small village like that where pratically everyone knew each other. He was already composing back then, but never dared to publish his songs. When his home village was attacked by drones, he ran away. He hid in the woods, hoping to not be caught.
After surviving the night, just like Chahut, he walked back to what once was his home village, seeing everything destroyed and not a single troll alive. Before the event happened, he heard some people say that the government waa trying to exterminate all limebloods.
So he when he saw the body of one of the only olivebloods who lives there, he stole all of their clothes and started to pretend he was an olive. He walked for a few nights, surviving with the resources he had in hand, until he finally spotted a city. He stole a hive that was once owned by an actual olive, who recently had gone off planet, and claimed he had 'moved in'. He continued his life as a song producer, this time actually publishing them. Many of his neighbors claimed that he had a 'unique style', which made him a bit more known.
He had managed to re-establish his life just fine, even though he was committing the serious crime of faking his blood color, but that was merely just for his survival. Nobody knew about his past, and he was just fine with that.
Until one night. He was alone in the streets, having gone outside for groceries, until he was stopped by a tealblood. The teal claimed that he needed to inspect the man, which Marvus hesitantly allowed. He knew teals were all buddy-buddy with the law, and he was aware that the man had every right to cull him if he hesitated.
After being inspected and with nothing suspicious found, the man asked one more thing. He wanted Marvus to remove his sunglasses. He froze, he knew he was a dead man if he did that, but refusing the order of a teal also made him a dead man, so he complied. He took off his glasses, revealing his eyes, a lighter shade of green.
The man said he knew it, and Marvus knew he was dead, but the teal didn't make a move to cull him.
He introduced himself as Fozzer, a tealblood who is actually against the limeblood extermination. He saw Marvus once when he visited his destroyed village, and saw him disguising himself as an olive. The tealblood came to pick up limeblood bodies so he could bury them, as a form to pay respect for innocent lives.
Fozzer claims Marvus' secret is safe with him, and that he won't ever cull the greenblood. He says that the extermination was a 'low move' from the Empire. The legislacerator is true to his word.
Marvus still pretends to be an olive, with now having a friend who is aware of his secret, but hasn't ever told anyone about it.
Karako's story is likely the saddest. He was only a grub when the limeblood extermination occurred. His hive was just recently built when it got destroyed. If it wasn't by his lusus, he wouldn't have survived. His lusus sacrificed himself just to bring Karako to safety.
The grub's cries were heard by a troll who lived nearby, the shore. Soon enough, he was found by Bronya, who unlike the other fuchsias, had a kind heart, and took the limeblood grub in her arms. She took him to her hive and has been raising him in secret, not letting anybody know about it.
Karako doesn't remember much about his grubhood, all he knows is that he can't go outside, otherwise, they'll get him.
There's not much to talk about the twins, only that the haunted house in this AU is their actual hive, they know that people are usually too scared to bother checking on those. And if someone does, they scare them away. Online, they use gray text color like Karkat, and are generally just your nerd stereotype.

A Dangerous Game Ch 9
Emily Prentiss x reader Warnings: language, talk of usual canon like violence, lots of mutual pining, minor flirtation, alcohol, smut.
It had been three weeks since Florida.
And in those three weeks not a single case had taken the BAU outside of the greater D.C. area.
Now you were on edge, every single conversation with Emily you found yourself having trouble focussing, even if she was going over gory details of a triple homicide with the team, all you could hear was the husk of her voice as she teased you, praised you, called you her good girl. Part of you was sure that the universe was punishing you for just how much the two of you had indulged on your solo trip down south, reminding you of how you were supposed to behave around each other. That professionalism came first, to everyone up here, you were simply friends, coworkers with not a hint of anything else.
Emily thought she would be fine at first, after all, you’d had nearly a week of not having to hide it, being able to do whatever you wanted together, spending hours tangled in each other’s bodies. Her first slip was automatically filling up a second cup of coffee when she refilled her own, wordlessly dropping it at your desk without doing the same for anyone else. Then she caught herself staring through her office door when she was supposed to be signing off on reports, finding you leaning back in your chair on the phone, back arching as you stretched, buttons of you shirt threatening to pop. The ones you did have undone exposing more of your chest as your shirt rode up, revealing the skin of your stomach. She would’ve been fine but you’d felt her eyes on you, your own darting toward her office, a sly grin taking over your lips when you caught her and her cheeks turned pink as she quickly ducked her gaze.
You kept waiting for the words ‘wheels up’ to leave Emily’s lips, your entire body tingling each time the team was called to the conference room in hope that you’d finally get to indulge again but each time it was a local case. Emily was at her wits end, she knew she had the authority to assign a case out of town, but also knew she couldn’t abuse that power, the worst cases had to take priority.
So the two of you were left with just your imaginations, sleepless nights where all you could picture when your eyes closed were the memories of the other person’s hands on your body. No matter how often you tried to relieve yourself your own hands were never enough, could never amount to the pleasure Emily’s could bring you and she was at the state that if she didn’t remember to plug her vibrator in before leaving for the day she was shit out of luck when she got home.
The team was currently circled up in the conference room, there’d been a couple of meetings as the deputy director droned on about case closure rates, budgets, follow ups and expectations for the next quarter. A very uneventful afternoon that certainly hadn’t helped the restlessness flowing through either of your bodies, it exploded into the air, the team wasn’t used to being cooped up like this and the back to back lectures made everyone feel a bit like they were infected with cabin fever. At the very least it was over, like a window had been cracked, fresh air pooling into the staleness of the room as everyone started packing up their things for the heavily anticipated weekend ahead.
“You hear anything from Jacksonville?” Emily asked, her voice breaking through the nap your brain had been taking and you glanced up to her with a soft sigh.
“Nothing tangible.” You flipped a file shut, “they keep searching addresses but he’s gone, wouldn’t be surprised if he made it passed state lines by now. They found out the farmhouse was covered in surveillance though, sent it off to Garcia for inspection.”
“And he had that puppy fully outfitted there is a lot to go through.” Penelope commented, “and he knows a hell of a lot about technology, if it weren’t so wrong it’d be impressive.”
“So he probably saw us coming?” Em asked and you nodded.
“Likely, he knew he had to run.”
“Lemme know if you hear anything more.”
“Yeah.” You nodded once again, tugging out your phone to go through the slew of missed notifications, catching up on a bit of social media while the work day drifted away from the room. There was a small rumble of conversation, a little bit of work chat mixed with weekend plans, little jokes here and there as spirits began to lift and everyone wound down.
“Hey…” Rossi’s voice broke through the crowd, loud enough for everyone to hear, “you know what we haven’t don’t in a while?”
“Left the DMV area?” You grumbled, cocking a brow in his direction and Emily laughed under her breath as she stood.
“Well… you’re right, but that’s not what I was getting at.” Rossi replied, “don’t you kids like sleeping in your own beds?”
‘No.’
The thought was unanimous, you and Emily stealing a glance before she spoke, “dunno… I’m with y/n on this one, I like a change of scenery.”
“Seriously?” Dave asked, pulling a laugh from the others in the room, JJ the next one to comment.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love the boys but it is nice to have a break once in a while. And it’s an added bonus knowing the psychopaths aren’t in the same city as them.”
“I think I have to agree with Rossi.” Garcia commented, “I miss you guys when you’re gone.”
“I just feel like…” you started, then huffed, pausing to put together your thoughts without outing yourself, “you know when you go to the zoo and all the tiger’s doing is pacing in its cage? That’s this. I need…” you spun your chair to face Spencer, knowing he’d have the answer, “what’s it called?”
“Enrichment time.”
“Thank you!”
“You know what I do for enrichment time?” Derek cocked a brow in your direction and you rolled your eyes as Emily let out a groan.
“I do.” You fired back, “what was her name again?”
“Better question is when’re we gonna get to meet her?” Garcia asked with a grin and Dave finally broke back into the banter.
“That is what I was going to suggest.”
“What? That we stalk Morgan on his date?” JJ asked with a smirk.
“More like dinner.”
“You buyin’?” Derek asked.
“I was thinking hosting, it’s been too long and I’ve got a few bottles of wine that are desperately waiting to be drank.”
“Now that, I can get behind.” Emily paused to squeeze his shoulder, “I’ve got to run home to feed Sergio first though.”
“Oh, you all need to give me time to get ready,” he glanced at his watch, “let’s say… seven thirty?”
“Plus ones?” JJ asked.
“The more the merrier!” Rossi replied, “you know the drill.”
**
You shouldn’t have been surprised with the vastness of Rossi’s house, or the fact that he greeted you at the door with a pre-dinner cocktail in hand, passing one off to you off a tray just inside the entry way. He guided you through the main area, giving you a brief tour to show off a few things and make sure you knew where the necessities were. The dining room was half set up, plates of appetizers and finger foods splayed across it before moving into the living room, plush loveseat and chairs facing each other while the French doors were wide open into the back yard. Most of the group was spread through the yard, patio furniture and smaller tables mixed through the space, lights strung over the patio making it seem just a little bit more festive than a regular Friday night.
There were a handful of other people from the office, a few people you didn’t recognize who you figured were other friends, and a couple of plus ones. You made a few rounds, somewhere along the way your drink was replaced with a fresh one the second it was finished, Derek had actually brought his new girlfriend and you ended up clicking right away. Dinner was served, Rossi making sure everyone knew they could eat inside or out, there were no specific rules for tonight, and wine refills were always available in the kitchen. As you glanced around your brow furrowed, realizing Emily wasn’t there yet and you wondered if maybe, similar to you, she’d debated not coming. A few too many glasses of wine in a much more casual setting after basically edging yourselves for three weeks was very likely to end inappropriately and you were still trying to not break the self made rules.
However, on the opposite side of the house, Emily was easily letting herself in the front door, walking through the familiar halls until she reached the social part of the house.
“There she is!” Dave exclaimed and she laughed, “was beginning to think you forgot the address.”
“Sorry.” She winced in apology, “I was about to get ready when I found a window cracked open, kinda freaked me out, I ended up doing a full sweep, pretty sure the cleaners just left it when they were there earlier.”
“No worries, no worries, grab a plate!”
She did exactly as he suggested, scooping up a rather large glass of wine as her eyes swept through the yard. She spotted Derek with who she figured was his girlfriend and let out a little gasp of excitement as she approached the table,
“So she actually does exist.” She teased, “I really was starting to think you were making her up.”
“Very funny Prentiss.” He chuckled, quickly introducing them, “wanna join?” He gestured across the table to the empty seat and that was when she realized you were sitting with them.
“Yeah.” She cast you a warm smile and you felt your heart thud in your chest, God was she ever fucking gorgeous.
Her eyes lingered probably a little too long on the exposed neckline of your shirt but the other two at the table were too distracted to even notice. She slipped into the seat and into the conversation with ease, Derek somewhat regretting introducing everyone as he was suddenly being playfully ganged up on. Wine glasses were refilled, the air was full of laughter and relaxation, things that didn’t come to the team like this often. Emily adjusted in her seat, crossing her legs and her foot brushed up against your shin, your breath catching in your throat when she didn’t move it. She even dared to play a little footsie, lingering against your skin as she glanced your way.
“You okay there Wilson?”
“Peachy.” You managed to choke back over the rim of your wine glass, not missing the gleam in her eye, one you were all too familiar with, the same one that you missed horrendously.
You could feel the heat radiating off her body, coursing through the air and straight to your core, especially as she kept casually brushing up against you. It wasn’t enough for anyone else to pick up on, and she swore she wasn’t doing it on purpose, even if the first one had been intentional. She ached to be able to touch you, despite the casual and fun evening, half of her was wishing her phone would ring with a case anywhere but here. Spencer and Penelope joined the table, the conversation got louder, more chaotic and multi layered as the alcohol seeped through everyone’s veins, bringing people out of their shells a little bit more. Emily was laughing over the story Derek was telling, calling him on all the bullshit he kept embellishing with, something about a case in the last couple of months. He said something in your direction but you didn’t hear it.
“Hey!” His hand shook in front of your face, “Wilson!”
“Hmm?” You glanced his way, still partially lost in your trance “sorry.” He chuckled,
“Man we lost ya there for a second, what were you daydreaming about?”
“…Vegas…” you let out in a small sigh, partially unaware of what you even said and completely unaware that Emily was still sitting directly beside you, smirk on her lips when you said it.
“You know, a non work trip out there might be fun.” Spencer cut in, “get some real poker playing in.”
“Aren’t you banned from like, eight casinos out there?” Emily asked with a laugh and her voice sent a chill down your spine, jolting you back to the real world and you felt a tingle between your legs.
“I’m gonna grab a refill, anyone need anything?” You asked, pushing away from the table and Penelope handed you her glass.
“Another one of those fruity drinks please!”
“On it.”
Shooting her a grin you quickly disappeared from the yard into the house, thankful that the kitchen was secluded from the open space, giving you a moment to breath and try to calm yourself down. You topped up Penelope’s drink, grabbing a glass of water for yourself, at the very least maybe it would help you cool off a little bit. You braced yourself on the counter in front of the sink, letting out a breath, there were two choices here; get control of yourself, or it was time to leave.
A third option then presented itself as an arm reached passed you, placing a used wine glass down in the sink and Emily’s perfume invaded your senses. Her body hovered inches behind yours, her words hot on your neck when she spoke, her hand resting on the counter beside yours.
“Do you have any clue how fucking hard it is to keep my hands off you tonight?” Her lips pressed into the crook of your neck, her hand moving to rest on your hip and you let out a little whimper, your knees nearly buckling.
“Emily…” You warned.
“What?” Her huff of a laugh brushed over your skin creating goosebumps.
“You do that again and I’m about three seconds away from coming in this kitchen and I really don’t think Rossi would be particularly fond of that.”
“Don’t worry, I can’t fuck you here.” She murmured back, nudging at your hip and you turned around to face her, breath hitching as you did so. You wanted nothing more than to launch into her arms, have her tear your clothes off and bend you over the counter, you were practically trembling already after the tiniest of touches and swore you would be able to come just by the way she was looking at you.
Emily looked down at you, taking in your raised pulse, the darkening of your eyes, the way your tongue darted out to wet your lips right before they parted and your eyes flicked down to her lips. One quick listen to the noise, making sure it sounded far enough away before she closed the space between you, her lips softly meeting yours. You melted into her arms, hands clinging to her shirt, whimpering into the kiss as Emily’s tongue slid into your mouth. One of her arms sturdily wrapped around your waist, holding you to her and heat surged through both of your bodies at finally being this close again. She broke the kiss, her forehead resting against yours,
“Don’t suppose you’re interested in getting out of here?”
“How exactly are we supposed to get away with that?” You asked, your voice barely above a whisper, knowing it would shaky if you raised it any more.
The sudden sound of Rossi’s laugh in the hallway broke the two of you apart faster than lightning, in at attempt to look like you were doing anything except what you had been, you whipped your phone out, a slight look of panic on your face when you looked up at Dave when he entered the room.
“Why does it look like you two are talking about work?” He asked.
And there it was.
Your out.
“Florida just called.” You raised your phone, “they’ve got a couple things we need to go checkout.”
“Oh c’mon.” He protested and you shrugged, picking up the cocktail glass and shoving it into his hands as you slipped passed him.
“Devil never sleeps! Give that to Garcia, will you?”
*
Emily’s apartment wasn’t far and you were incredibly grateful, the energy and excitement bubbling up inside you to the point of feeling like a school kid on their way to their first sleep over. In all honesty, it was probably good you drove separate cars, you knew you wouldn’t be able to keep your hands to yourselves otherwise. She quickly let you in, making sure the door was shut and locked behind you as both of you kicked off shoes and shrugged off jackets,
“Are you sure?” You asked, glancing up at her with wide eyes.
“Are you kidding?” She chuckled, a wicked grin on her face, “I’ve been waiting weeks to do this.”
“Good.” You breathed out, “because nothing compares to actually having you touch me.”
An instant later and Emily’s lips were on yours. Her hand cupped your cheek softly as she began to back you in the direction of the bedroom. Movements were both frantic and tender at the same time, you’d both been wanting nothing more than to feel the other persons skin on yours for ages, but it wasn’t as fiery as you’d expected. Lips danced with ease, her hand slipping into your hair just to hold your head to her, making sure you were as close as humanly possible. Her tongue slid into your mouth, exploring every inch, rolling against yours while your hands finally slipped under her shirt, tickling across her skin. She let out a sigh into the kiss, breaking it so you could quickly pull the fabric over her head. She let out a breath, her eyes dragging over your body before she rid you of your shirt and bra right as the back of your legs hit her bed.
“God you’re so fucking gorgeous.” She murmured, ducking to kiss you deeply before she nudged you onto the bed.
She slipped out of her pants and underwear, fingers sliding into your waistband to pull both of yours down your legs before she crawled over your body, capturing your lips in another kiss, her hands tracing patters on your thighs. Your legs easily fell open for her, moaning into the kiss while your hands trailed across her skin. Emily’s fingers came to rest on your clit, gently rubbing it in slow circles, just enough to tantalize you, get your pussy fluttering around nothing as you started to grind into the touch, your nails digging into her skin. She never broke the kiss, now able to read you like perfection, knowing exactly when you were about to beg for more, her hand sliding down and two fingers slipping into your dripping cunt. When you moaned against her lips this time she happily swallowed the breath down, her tongue rolling against yours as she explored your body. Her fingers curled inside you, brushing along that sensitive spot and your breath caught in your throat, hips jolting up to her touch and you felt her lips curve into a grin. This time she did break the kiss, her lips pressing to the underside of your jaw,
“Want you to ride my cock pretty girl.” She murmured, nudging at your chin with her nose before she nipped at your neck, her fingers slipping out of you while she shifted off the bed to grab a strap. You watched with eager eyes, shifting up onto your knees while she got the harness on, selecting a toy from the bedside table, this one double sided.
“Wait…” You breathed out right before she slipped it in, crawling to the edge of the bed, “can I?”
“So eager.” She grinned, her hand pinching gently at your chin, “good girl.”
She handed off the toy and you sat up on your knees, pulling her to you for a kiss, your lips molding together with grace. Your hand sunk between her legs, almost matching the same movements she did on you earlier, fingers sliding between her folds, smearing her wetness, two sinking into her pussy briefly before you slipped the smaller end of the toy in.
“Fuck…” She moaned, her eyes fluttering shut when you pumped it a few times before situating it properly into the harness. She dropped down onto the bed, head sinking into the pillows, “get over here.”
You eagerly crawled over to her, swinging a leg over her waist, your hands bracing on her stomach as one of hers wrapped around the base of her cock. She rubbed it against your folds, smearing your juices around it, watching the way you breathily moaned, rocking your hips in time with the motion, eyes fluttering shut. The tip caught your entrance and you let out a gasp, your eyes shooting open to catch her gaze and she nudged it in a little further until you sunk all the way down onto it, this moan louder than the last. She couldn’t help but make a similar noise, the way you pushed down onto it pushed the base right into her clit and made the smaller end thrust inside her.
Bracing yourself on her waist you raised your hips, shuddering when her cock dragged through your walls until just the tip was left inside you and you sunk back down all the way again. Emily’s hands braced on your hips, guiding you up and down her cock until your set a pace, one that wasn’t too fast, your hips meeting hers with a little extra power of a thrust to move the toy inside her too. You threw your head back, cunt clenching around the toy,
“Oh fuck… god…”
Your eyes fluttered shut and you groaned when Emily’s hands began to explore your body, gliding up your chest, pinching at your tits, rolling your nipples between her fingers. A gasp escaped her lips when you ground down against her, her hand shooting out to yours, fingers interlacing, squeezing yours while her pussy clenched down around the toy.
“Jesus Christ..” She muttered.
Emily planted her feet on the mattress, able to drive up into you with more force, sitting up so she could feel your body fully against hers. One arm wound around your waist, holding you steady to her while the other braced on the bed behind her. The angle shifted the toy inside both of you, moans getting breathier and closer together with each pump of your hips. Her lips peppered your skin, tongue licking at your collarbone before she bit gently into it, pulling a whine from you. She sunk lower, her teeth nipping at the swell of your chest, feeling the way your hands clenched into her back as she did so. You let out a gasp when her mouth wrapped around your nipple, sucking it into your mouth, the dual sensation pulling you closer and closer to your peak.
“Oh Em…”
She shuddered at the tone of your voice alone, nearly angelic floating through her bedroom as you continued to bounce in her lap. She sucked harder on your chest, teeth gently scraping at the swollen bud and your pussy pulsated around her cock.
“Feels so fucking good.” You murmured, your head dropping forward as she moved her mouth to the other side of your chest to repeat the action. “Don’t fucking stop.” You panted and she moaned against your skin, feeling the toy drive deeper into her as you thrust down into her hips, rolling yours at just the right frequency that the base of the toy rubbed her clit perfectly.
“Oh god…” She choked on her words, fire shooting through her body, alighting her every nerve as her skin prickled.
Your hand grasped at her cheek, directing it up to your lips and capturing her in a kiss, one that was full of sighs, gasps and breath huffing from one of your lips to the other as you continued to ride her. Your forehead came to rest against hers,
“Fuck…” you muttered, “so close..” She took advantage, her hand sneaking between your bodies to rub at your clit and you whimpered.
“Come for me angel.” She panted, “let me see you….”
It only took a few more pumps before your eyes scrunched tightly shut, your pussy clamping down around her cock as pleasure soared through you, your cries louder than she had ever heard before. Your body shook in her arms, your own wrapping tightly around her, not leaving an inch of space between your sweat glistened skin. A couple of thrusts later, coupled with the vision of you coming Emily let out a loud moan, her own body trembling as she reached her peak. You continued to half lazily rock in her lap, panting, breathless kisses stolen between you, eyes fluttering as aftershocks vibrated through your body.
Emily kissed up your neck slowly, leaving a trail of wetness before her nose nudged at yours, your eyes finally cracking open to meet her gaze. Your thumb trailed across her cheek softly, simply drinking her in before you ducked down, pressing gentle, lazy kisses to her lips. She slowly dropped down onto the bed beneath her, pulling you with her, continuing the kiss until she gently rolled you onto your side, slipping her cock out of you, tossing the toy to the side to be dealt with later before rolling back over, pulling you into her arms.
Your head rested against her chest, the beat of her heart slowing as she came down, lulling you into a sense of relaxation, your eyes fluttering shut as your breathing began to regulate. Her hand trailed up and down your back, nails tickling along your bare skin before she pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head that you returned onto her collarbone. A blanket was kicked up, wrapped around your lower bodies as the temperature in the room began to chill. You let out a content sigh, your body relaxing further into hers and the plush mattress, feeling sleep starting to overtake you and you yawned, tilting your head to look up at her.
“Should… should I go?” You asked hesitantly, not really knowing if you wanted to know the answer considering this really was the only place you wanted to be in the moment.
“No…” Emily shook her head, her hand coming up to comb through your hair before she kissed your temple, “no…. stay.”

Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Word count: 7,390
A/N: First Wanda story! I’m not sure if this has never been written or if this is a huge cliché of a story, however, I enjoyed creating this, and I hope you all enjoy reading it.
Warnings: Infidelity, illicit affair, mind-manipulation, cliffhanger ending.
You're a researcher who intends to investigate the strange occurrences happening in the town of Westview. Your inspection leads you to Wanda Maximoff, the cause of the anomaly, and a confrontation ensues.
You arrived in New Jersey on a crisp autumn day, eager to begin your investigation. As a researcher specialized in anomalies studies, you were totally captivated by the Westview case, therefore you didn't hesitate to check out this small town.
It was harder than you thought to get any information. The entire place was covered by some sort of veil, and no one with whom you managed to communicate seemed to want to know about what was happening.
So, you decided to take matters into your own hands and launched a small drone to break into the area. The device was equipped with the most advanced technology, meaning it could record real time, and you hoped that you would be able to gather some valuable data from its surveillance footage.
As the drone flew over the town, you were stunned to see that it had entered some kind of force field.
At first, everything seemed normal enough. Westview had charming, picturesque characteristics all over it. But as you began to dig deeper, you noticed something, or rather, someone.
Suddenly, the drone's video cut out, leaving only a glitchy screen. You tried to regain control of the drone, but it was impossible.
Frustrated, you made your way to the force field to see what had happened.
You stumbled upon Wanda's intense, fiery red eyes, provoking the biggest feeling of panic to rise within you in a matter of seconds. As far as you knew, she was responsible for all this.
"You were trying to spy on me, weren't you?" Wanda's voice was laced with anger and suspicion.
"No, I swear! I didn't mean to disturb you. I just wanted to understand what was happening in this town," you tried to sound as sincere as possible, hoping to ease her rage.
"You don't understand anything," Wanda yelled, startling you. "You don't understand the sorrow, the dread, the suffering. You don't understand what it's like to lose everything you love and have nothing left."
"I'm sorry. I promise I’ll leave and you’ll never see me again," your voice was trembling as you spoke.
You knew she loved the weakness you were presenting, it was notorious given the expression of amusement she had drawn all over her face.
"I can't let you go," she answered, her tone final. "You're a threat to everything I've built here. I can't have that. I won't let you ruin everything."
Desperately trying to come up with a way out of this mess, you pleaded for mercy.
***
It was a beautiful summer day in Westview, perfect for a pleasant walk.
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and everything seemed perfect. In this picturesque town, nothing seemed to matter at all. You felt happy and content, living a simple life in this idyllic environment.
You had a job in a vinyl shop, therefore you spent your days surrounded by records, helping people find whatever they needed. In the evenings, you mostly spent time with your friends, gossiping about the latest news and events in town. Life in Westview was perfect. The thought of anything outside of this town seemed odd to you.
You were on your way to get yourself another smoothie during a day out with your friends when you saw her.
You were completely taken aback. Her beauty was beyond words, and her presence was captivating. Her red hair framed her face perfectly, and her stunning green eyes were full of emotion and depth. Her features were delicate yet powerful, and you found yourself mesmerized by her every move.
When she caught you staring, you felt your heart pounding its way out of your chest. You thought she was going to look away, or worse, look at you badly, however instead...
"Hi there," she greeted you with a soft smile.
"H-hi," you replied shyly, reciprocating.
"I'm Wanda," she introduced herself, extending her hand.
"I'm sorry, I don't think we've met before," you said, taking her hand. "And I'm (Y/N)."
"It's okay," she said, still smiling. "I just wanted to welcome you to town."
You nodded, completely mesmerized by every single detail that made her up, "Well, it's nice to meet you, Wanda."
As you continued walking, she asked you about your life in Westview. You told her about your job and your hangouts with friends.
She listened intently, until she concluded, "It sounds like you have a wonderful life here," she observed. Every word she spoke was filled with warmth and kindness.
You agreed, feeling a strange mix of happiness, "Yes, I do. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else."
You couldn't get rid of the thought that there was something more about Wanda. Nevertheless, you quickly dismissed it from your mind, deciding to focus on the simple pleasures of your life in Westview.
From that day on, you were inseparable. You crossed paths every so often, and each time, your connection grew stronger. You talked about everything, exploring the town and getting to know each other. You found yourself falling unavoidably in love with her.
One sunny afternoon, the redhead and you were enjoying a picnic in the park. You had packed a basket full of your favorite foods, and you were lounging on a blanket under the shade of a tree.
As you chatted and laughed, you couldn't help but simply think about her, appreciate her. She had become your closest friend, and you trusted her completely.
You reached for the last strawberry that remained, but she playfully pulled the plate away from you, "Not so fast," she refused, a mischievous glint in her eye.
You rolled your eyes and chuckled, reaching for the plate again. This time, you managed to grab it, quickly putting it in your mouth before she could snatch it from you.
After finishing your food, you were just laying on the grass as you watched the clouds. You chatted about your favorite music, exchanging recommendations and opinions. Wanda had a great sense of humor, and you teased each other relentlessly about your tastes.
"You like that song? Ugh, I could never guess you were that type of person," she laughed.
"It's a guilty pleasure," you justified.
"Fair enough. But if you want great music, I can give you some recommendations."
"Deal," you agreed, eager to know more of her interests.
You kept enjoying the warm sun and cool breeze, until the older woman invited you over to her place to listen to her records and drink some lemonade.
As you walked to her house, she continued chatting about her vinyl collection, stating that you would love every single one of them, given her similar music taste.
However, when you made it there, you were surprised to see a man there on the porch, reading the newspaper as two kids played hide and seek in the small garden.
"Hey, Vis, this is my friend, (Y/N)," Wanda introduced you.
"Oh, it's famous (Y/N)! So nice to finally meet you," he kindly said as he stood up and smiled widely at you.
"Tommy! Billy! Come here for a moment, I'll introduce you to someone special," the redhead called the kids, and immediately, one of them stopped counting and the other came out from his hiding place.
It was then that you realized that this man, Vision, was Wanda's husband, and they had two kids together.
You felt shattered and confused. You had no idea that she was married and had a family, and the fact that she had asked you to come to her home made you feel like you had unknowingly crossed a line. It all began to sink in. You had developed feelings for someone who was already taken, and you didn't know what to do.
You started to distance yourself from her, and it was probably the most painful decision. At some point, you started questioning if it was worse to be surrounded by her even if it made you suffer, or not to be surrounded by her at all.
You missed her madly, however you knew that it was the right thing to do. It was hard seeing her every day, and despite the fact that you tried your best to stay away, you found yourself constantly drawn to her, lost in thoughts of what could have been.
At some point, it was unbearable to continue like this. You needed to move on and find someone who was available and could return your feelings. So, you started dating someone sweet and kind, hoping that a new person would fill the void in your heart.
Too little avail, for you simply couldn't quit daydreaming of her smile, the way she wrinkled her nose whenever you teased her, her piercing eyes that acquired a peculiar bright when she ate her favorite food... she all etched into your heart.
You realized too late that you had made a mistake by distancing yourself from her. Wanda moved on with her life, and you were right where she left you. You should have talked to her and told her how you felt. Although she might've found it obvious, it was too much of a coincidence that you cut her off from your life right after she introduced you to her husband and her kids.
You thought that she would reject you when you asked her to meet, nevertheless, she didn't hesitate for one second to ask how you were and subsequently, told you that there wasn't a day she wondered what had happened.
You liked to believe that she thought of you from time to time, and a sense of bliss took over you when you confirmed that indeed she did.
"Wanda," you said, looking around her living room filled with pictures of her and her husband, and her kids. "I needed to let you know that there is nothing wrong with you."
She looked at you, her beautiful green eyes meeting yours. Oh, how you missed them, "What is it?" she questioned.
"I've been trying to deny it for a while now, but I can't help the way I feel about you," you started, your voice breaking with each word, knowing that this would probably mean a goodbye for good. "I'm in love with you."
"I... I don't know what to say," she replied, her eyes growing wider. "I had no idea you felt this way."
"It's been eating me away. I just had to tell you."
She reached out and took your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, "I'm married," she said softly.
"I know," you answered, feeling a pang of disappointment, which you were expecting but never truly prepared for. "I don't intend to cause any disruptions. I just needed..."
"I'm in love with you too," she interrupted, her voice filled with emotion. "I want to be with you."
Your heart leaped with joy, almost so suddenly that you felt like you were going to pass out. Wanda, your dear Wanda, shared your feelings!
As she leaned in, your lips met, and a rush of electricity coursed through your body. She wrapped her arms around your waist as she deepened the kiss, pulling you in closer.
Your mouths moved in perfect sync. You tangled your fingers in her hair as her own hands roamed over your back, reveling in the warmth of her embrace. Time seemed to stand still as you lost yourselves in the moment, consumed by the intensity of your desire for one another. Finally, you pulled away, breathless and flushed with the realization of what was about to start between you.
But then, the realization hit you. Wanda was married, with kids. You couldn't just come in and ruin her life like this.
"I know this is complicated," she commented, as if your thoughts were so loud for her to hear. "I promise you, we'll figure it out together."
And just like that, you were together. It was a surprising turn of events, but it felt so right to be with her. You knew that you had a lot to deal with, given her marriage, but as long as you were together, nothing else mattered.
Your dates were the most romantic in the world. The way Wanda would get all dressed up, pick you up promptly and always look for an opportunity to surprise you. You would talk for hours and laugh until your cheeks hurt. You thought it was perfect.
But there was something missing.
You tried to be understanding and patient, however it was becoming harder and harder.
You broke down when one time you walked out of the restaurant, you couldn't resist the urge to take Wanda's hand in yours. But as soon as you did, she pulled away and looked around nervously.
"Please, not in public," she whispered, avoiding eye contact.
You felt a pang of hurt and frustration. You had been dating for months now, and yet she still acted as though you were hiding some dark secret. There was almost nobody around, ten people maximum who were too invested in their own lives. No one was looking.
When she dropped you off, you confronted her, probably for the thousandth time already.
"Why can't we be together openly?" you asked, trying to keep the anger out of your voice.
"Because I have a family that I love," she replied, notoriously irritated for having this conversation again. "You knew what you were getting into when we started this."
"You act like I'm some sort of inconvenience to you," you snapped, tears already pricking at the corners of your eyes.
Her eyes narrowed as she glared at you, her voice rising with anger, "You know what? Maybe you are an inconvenience. It's not like you appreciate the sacrifices I have to make in order to be with you!"
You felt your heart sink as her words hit you like a ton of bricks. "Why the fuck would you say such stupidity? You've respected my decisions, even if you don't always agree with them."
"You don't know the half of what I have gone through," the older woman spat, her voice trembling. That was the moment you knew she was losing it. "Do you have any idea what it's like to have to lie to your own family every day? Everything I have right now, I earned it after so much sorrow. I won't toss it in the trash just to be with an ungrateful brat."
You took a step back, feeling hurt and confused, "I never asked you to do any of it. I just want to be with you, to introduce you to my friends as my girlfriend..."
"I can't give you that," she shot back, "You want everything to be easy and perfect, maybe you should just find someone else who can give you what you want."
You felt a lump form in your throat as her words stung you deeply, "What do you mean, Wanda? Are you breaking up with me?" She remained silent, leaving you hurt and confused, unsure of what to do or say next, "Fine, then maybe we should just end things here."
She finally spoke, "No, that's not what I want," she replied, her tone growing softer. "I'm sorry," she apologized, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know I'm not the easiest person to be with."
Despite all this, you couldn't help but fall more in love with her every day. She was kind, intelligent, and beautiful.
Taking a deep breath, you looked into her eyes and told her how much you loved her. You explained how much this whole situation hurt you.
"I just feel like we're never going to be able to be truly happy if we keep hiding."
Wanda stopped and looked at you, her eyes searching yours. "I know, and I don't want that for us either. I'll try to be more open, I promise."
You thought that this little talk would make a change for the better. This was only the beginning of what it would be like to emerge from the fire only to fall into the embers.
***
The reality of Westview that Wanda Maximoff had built up was already a part of your bitter past.
You had been completely immersed in said alternate reality, but you couldn't recall what happened there. Your recollection of that time was probably suppressed or deleted when you returned to what you perceived as your current reality, leaving you with no idea of what transpired in Westview during this bizarre and surreal period.
You frequently experienced being attracted into vivid dreams that felt terribly real. She was supposed to be the enemy, your enemy, but some dreams tightened their grip on your heart with tenderness, so much so that, inevitably, you felt longing and attraction towards the redheaded woman.
Every night, you hoped with all your might to have one of those nocturnal reveries that involved words of love, walks around town, laughter, and other memorable moments. On one night, however, that wasn't the case...
"What's the matter, darling?" you asked, putting down your bag and approaching her.
She didn't answer, just kept flipping through the photos.
"I don't like that," she said, holding up a photo of you with someone you couldn't quite recognize.
"That's just a picture of me with a co-worker in a reunion," you responded, perplexed at how she was intending to make a big deal out of it.
"Too close, look at how she's grabbing your waist," she snapped, raising her voice. "Whenever I visit you at your work, you're always by her side and I hate it."
You tried to reason with her, but she wouldn't listen and just kept flipping through the photos, getting angrier and angrier.
What happened next made you truly wonder, was you crazy or did her eyes actually turn red?
You felt a knot in your stomach while your hands trembled with fear, and you had a feeling that something horrible was going to happen. You were paralyzed, unable to move or breathe.
"Why the fuck are you just standing there?" She yelled as she turned to you with said red eyes.
"Wanda, please calm down," you whispered, taking a step back. "You're scaring me."
She got up from the table and started pacing, still holding the Polaroid that upset her the most.
"I can't believe you're doing this to me," she finally said, so calmly that it scared you even more. "Betraying me, huh?"
"I could never betray you," you stated. "I love you and only you."
It was like she did not listen to anything you said at all, ignoring your attempts to clarify the misunderstanding that was all in her head. "I can't stand the thought of you seeing someone else," she shook her head. "You belong with me."
Her words sent shivers down your spine, "Yes, I belong to you. You're the only one I love," you reiterated.
She grabbed your hand and pulled you closer to her, much to your surprise. "Prove it," she whispered dangerously close to your lips. "Prove to me how much you love me."
You woke up abruptly, immediately feeling a cold sweat running down your back, definitely due to the terror that felt so real. And you couldn't deny that frustration took hold of you afterward, for as was typical, the best part was cut short.
***
You waited for what seemed like a lifetime; nevertheless, Wanda Maximoff finally stood in front of you, looking as lovely as in your dreams.
"Hi, Wanda," you greeted her, stunned at her beauty.
"Hello," she replied, with a glimpse of a smile on her lips. Her green eyes acquired that peculiar brightness you already knew all too well.
"I'll get straight to the point. I don't understand what happened between us in Westview. These dreams, were they not dreams but rather... memories?" you asked, desperate for answers.
"I used my powers to draw you into my reality because I felt like you were threatening what I created," she explained. "At first, I started to be your friend so I could keep an eye on you, but as time went by... I swear to you, even if what I created was not real, what I felt for you was the realest thing in the midst of it all."
You stood and stared at her without a word. You never expected her to show you such honesty so easily.
She seemed very willing to do things right, and perhaps her way of doing so was by simply surrendering to the acceptance of her bitter situation and leaving everyone alone. Nevertheless, you didn't want her to leave you alone, not after what you had lived.
"I- I..." you started, but she cut you off.
"You don't have to say anything," she responded. "You think that it was wrong. And you're right, I shouldn't have done it, you have a life and a free will on your own like everyone else in Westview. I was just so lost in my own grief."
You looked at her and understood her pain better than you thought possible. "I'm sorry for what you went through," you said, taking a step closer to her. "What's your final decision?"
"I want to focus on the only true love I've always had for granted if everything fell apart. On you."
Your heart leaped. "What do you mean?" you asked, not sure if you heard her correctly.
"I love you," she established, taking a step closer to you. "We barely know each other in this reality, but the feelings I have for you are real, your essence is real, and I want to get to know you for who you are. If you allow me this time, of course."
"Wanda, I'm flattered but... I feel like you consider me a substitute for Vision."
"I could never," she assured you, grabbing your hand. "Even when I had Vision with me, I never considered you a substitute, a second choice, or a fling. You were my love too, a unique love in its own way, simply that," she continued. "I couldn't stand losing you too, knowing you're somewhere over there. That was why I was visiting you in your dreams, giving you your memories back little by little."
You looked into her eyes, and the weight of her words sank in. That was when you knew that you couldn't resist her anymore. The warmth that had spread through your chest grew stronger, as a grin spread across your face. "You don't have to ask again," you said, inviting her into your arms, to which she didn't hesitate for a single second. "I'm already yours."
And as you held her, you knew that nothing else mattered. It seemed like the entire world vanished, and the only ones who existed in that moment were her and you, two souls reencountering, wrapped up in a warm embrace.
The months passed, each one bringing with it a seed sown in the soil of your hearts.
They say it doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop. How true it was, for each small step guided Wanda on the path to rediscovering joy in her life.
"Hey! If you keep digging on the glaze, we won't have a way to decorate the cookies," the redhead scolded you, making you let out a growl of frustration.
It was perhaps the third time you had tried unsuccessfully to take some of the sweet glaze that was temptingly resting on the kitchen counter while she was distracted checking on the cookies.
"Then why do you make it so delicious? It's not my fault you're good at everything," you inquired, taking another bit, and before she could protest, you placed some on the tip of her nose.
She wrinkled her nose, which you always considered adorable, "Mmm, resorting to flattery to get what you want. It doesn't work on me," she stated, taking your waist in her hands, in a firm yet delicate grip.
"What, now you can't praise your beautiful girlfriend and everything she does?"
"Not when there's glaze around," she directed both eyes to the tip of her nose, which still had the little stain you caused earlier. Laughing, you removed it with a napkin and subsequently kissed the area.
The cookies came out of the oven, spreading a delicious smell around the house. Some were star-shaped, heart-shaped, Christmas tree-shaped, and gingerbread man-shaped. You started eating them once you headed out into the backyard of her house, with the starry sky above you.
She looked up at the stars, which seemed to be aware that somewhere a passionate couple was going to appreciate them, as they were brighter than usual.
Despite this, it didn't take you ten seconds to turn your attention to her. The most admirable landscape of all was right next to you.
"I love you," you told her. You repeated it to her every time you stopped to appreciate her and therefore think about how lucky you were to be surrounded by the presence of someone so wonderful, which happened many, many times.
She looked at you, and with that smile she specifically adopted when you directed those three words towards her, she replied, "I love you more, my sweetheart. Thank you for teaching me every day that this world has its charm. You are the best demonstration of all."
All the progress she seemed to have made crumbled in just one careless, reckless moment of curiosity.
When she confiscated the Darkhold from Agatha, she had the ancient magic book at her mercy and really did nothing more than flip through it. It was only recently that she decided to actually open it and study it.
Since then, the days and weeks went by in which she did nothing more than that. It was her first thought in the morning after getting up and her last thought before falling asleep. At first, you didn't think much of it, in fact, you were somewhat happy that she had found an interest on her own initiative.
You were so naive in believing that she was just curious, and that she was really going to study the contents of that dangerous book without actually putting something into practice.
The only complete sentence she addressed to you since all that time was about bringing her sons Billy and Tommy back.
Her eyes possessed a peculiar mixture of longing and illusion at the same time. You knew then that no matter how much she had improved since the incident in Westview, there was an emptiness that gnawed at her and it was the absence of her sons.
You were mindful of how dangerous the Darkhold was, and that the dark powers it possessed were not something to be played with, much less if it was for her own desires. You tried to persuade her to drop the possibility of doing that, but she seemed quite convinced. It only remained for you to continue pretending that her sick interest in that book was not affecting your relationship.
She became even more distant, if that was possible. She spent all day immersed in those pages to such an extent that she forgot everything else in her life, like eating or even sleeping. She had left behind her purpose of acceptance in the face of the fact that nothing about Westview was real. It wasn't enough for her that she and her children were happily living in another universe, she wanted it to happen in her current one.
And you couldn't help but feel frustrated, as well as guilty. You did everything you could to make her happy and to make a positive contribution to her life, but it wasn't enough, it only took one book for all that to go down the drain. You felt so guilty, for you were also allowing her to go out of her way. You should have insisted more, however, you didn't want to make her mad, or make her think like you didn't care about her sorrow.
And little by little, the day when you officially gave up came.
You had placed a sandwich on her nightstand, still with a shred of hope that she would eat. It pained you to see her with those huge dark circles under her eyes, a sign that she wouldn't leave that book even for a little sleep, and you were troubled by the way the breakfast you had placed on her nightstand that morning was still untouched.
"Please, eat something. You didn't have breakfast," you requested in a tone that had long since become a plea. Most of the time, this was in vain.
It is well said that it is a stupid thing to think about doing the same thing and expect different results. In your case, it could be called delusional.
"I'm not hungry, but thank you," the redhead replied, without looking up.
"Of course you're not hungry, you're so invested in that fucking thing that it distracts you from even listening to your own body," you grumbled, resigned that this would be another day just like the others. This routine became monotonous, and you were beginning to lose patience.
"If you don't like it, you know you can leave," she snapped, leaving you stunned at her rudeness.
"Okay, I'll do you the best of favors and leave, for good."
Her green eyes met yours, and at that fact alone, you regretted the decision you made. Instantly, you felt so willing to take back what you said and continue to suffer only if there was a one in a million chance that you could experience this again.
"You can't leave me!" Wanda's trembling voice echoed through the room, her eyes flashing with anger.
"I promise, it won't make any difference for you," you countered, steeling yourself to make this decision final.
You headed for the bedroom door, determined to put all this behind you. It was something that hurt, but sometimes running is the brave thing to do, for maintaining was more torture than letting go.
You felt a strong grip on your arm as soon as your hand was about to turn the doorknob, She grabbed you tightly, her eyes blazing red with fury, "I said, you can't leave me. I won't let you."
You tried to pull away from her grasp, but she was surprisingly strong. You knew this was not a human force. "Wanda, please let me go. You're hurting me..."
But she wouldn't listen.
"No!" Her jaw clenched in desperation, tears cutting tracks through her face. Her grip on your arm tightened even more, as her fingers were digging into your flesh like claws.
You weren't sure how, but the sight of those mesmerizing green eyes was enough to make you feel the need to not only stay with her but to do what you could to be of her convenience.
"Repeat after me," she ordered you. "I swear to keep the Scarlet Witch's secrets, never betray her trust, and serve her faithfully until my dying day."
Without any difficulty whatsoever, and in the most willing manner ever to come from your lips, you repeated: "I swear to keep the Scarlet Witch's secrets, never betray her trust, and serve her faithfully until my dying day."
Since then, you had the honor of assisting Wanda in multiple stages of her Darkhold dominance.
You were in charge of pleasing her in all aspects, finding certain items or scouting locations that were required for some rituals or spells, but perhaps the most remarkable thing was when she taught you about astral projection.
She ordered you to keep an eye on Stephen Strange because he contacted her not long ago. It took exhaustive practice over many hours for you to be ready for such a thing, without him noticing your presence.
The first few days were boring to witness, as they were full of cheap tricks that were no match for the power of your beloved Wanda Maximoff herself. However, you eventually found out the reason why, and it was something that would be of utmost convenience to the redhead in question.
"My mistress," you ran to Wanda in hurried steps. "Stephen Strange was found by a girl named América Chavez. She has the ability to travel between multiverses. That's the reason why he contacted you, I'm certain."
"Interesting," Wanda replied. "Apparently, Stephen is more naïve than he thought. You can go now."
"Yes, my lady," you responded obediently, kissing the corner of her lips.
"Don't distract me," she protested, slightly angry.
"I-I'm sorry," you lowered your head, with palpable embarrassment.
You felt her hand touch your cheek, and subsequently, her index finger and thumb caused you to look up.
"Hey, I'm proud of you, okay?" Her gaze softened, and a small smile graced her lips. "So far, you've obeyed my orders, you've been willing to learn from the Darkhold to serve me, and you've never refused a single request from me."
"Thank you, I'm happy to hear that, my mistress. Do you need anything else?" You asked.
"Yes," she confirmed with her voice low and raspy. Her hand slid down to your chest, and she smiled when she felt your heart racing like it always used to. You could notice your body responding to her touch; that's the moment you knew where this was going. "I need you. Come to my bedroom tonight, at eight o'clock, and don’t you dare be late. You know how much I despise uselessness," she murmured, her lips brushing against your ear.
You swallowed hard, trying to calm your trembling voice, but failed as you responded, "As you command, my lady."
Wanda leaned in and kissed you deeply. Her tongue explored your mouth as her hands roamed over your waist and your back.
"You are mine, and I expect complete obedience from you. You will do as I say, and you will do it with enthusiasm."
You nodded, feeling an incredible desire take hold of you.
"Good," she purred, making you feel a deep sense of loss as soon as she pulled away.
You wished this could be done at the very present moment since you were unsure about being able to wait until the hour she established. Nevertheless, you knew as well how much she despised impatience. So you did your best to wait, and when the time came, you showed up promptly at her bedroom.
It was approximately half-past ten.
You were lying next to Wanda, with your body tingling with the after-effects of intense pleasure as you struggled to catch your breath.
"You always serve me so well in this, my loyal follower," Wanda commented, when she decided she had enough. Afterwards, with only her underwear on, she went to her wardrobe to put on a dressing gown.
"Anything to please you," you replied, which sounded more like a gasp. "Do you need anything else, my mistress?" You reiterated in your most respectful tone.
"Actually, I don't think I'll be needing you at all anymore. I'll continue on my own," you felt a knot form in your stomach at her words.
"What do you mean?" You asked, doubting if you really heard her right or if you were just misinterpreting her words.
Maybe she was only referring to today, tomorrow you could be of use to her, right...?
"I no longer need you, nor will I ever need you," Wanda repeated, her eyes cold and distant. "You have served your purpose, and I have already decided that it is time for you to leave."
"But we were supposed to do this together! Bring your children back and..." You protested, your heart racing with panic. "I thought we had a pact, my lady. A pact of secrecy and loyalty.
She adopted a twisted, mocking smile, as she crawled towards you, her breath hot against your ear. "I never said we were equals," she hissed. "You don't decide when to leave me, I decide. Now you no longer serve me."
Your mind reeled as you struggled to make sense of her words. As simple as that, you had been nothing more than a disposable tool in her quest for power.
"I beg you, my lady, please reconsider," you pleaded with all the sincerity you could reunite. "I have given you my loyalty, my time, my intimacy, my heart. I have served you to the best of my ability. I have nothing if not for us to do this together; you can't leave me."
Wanda's expression didn't change, and she looked at you with disdain. "I can and I will. Put on your clothes and go. The rest is not my concern," she replied firmly.
Even though you grabbed your clothes and got dressed, you weren't going to leave with your head down; at least, you would tell her a few truths to her face.
"You know? I thought you were a powerful sorceress, a force to be reckoned with. Now I see that you're nothing more than a petty, manipulative tyrant."
Wanda's eyes narrowed as she stood up, her own anger flaring. "Don't you dare speak to me like that," she snapped, "I am your mistress, and you will show me respect."
"I will show respect to anyone who deserves it," you retorted, your voice trembling with rage.
Wanda's face transformed into a mask of fury, and she raised her hand, a bolt of red energy crackling in the tip of her fingers.
"You dare to defy me?" She didn't even shout; her tone of voice was low, it was a warning. Her eyes were red, and your breath, you swore, was coming in short gasps.
"I dare say enough. I don't deserve this," you said with apparent calmness, but your flashes of sudden adrenaline were pouring out of you.
The place crackled with tension as Wanda and you vied for power with your gazes.
For a moment, your fight seemed like it was going to turn into something dangerous, deadly, though deep down, you would never hurt her, but would Wanda hurt you? You would find out in a moment, it seemed. You knew the things she was capable of when she was upset and feeling challenged.
But then something happened that surprised you, her red energy suddenly dissipated, leaving you confused.
She took a step forward, right towards you and smiled.
It wasn't the kind of smile you liked, although all of it was beautiful. Her pupils were slightly dilated, and her teeth glittered almost sadistically. You couldn't bring yourself to react.
Her footsteps echoed in the space as she circled around you, placing herself behind your back, her hand gripped you tightly around your waist, clinging you to her body. You gasped loudly as you felt yourself under her mercy again.
"My dear pathetic thing... do you really think you can defy me and get away with it alive?" It was a question you dared not answer, but her hand circled your hip until it reached your lower abdomen, very close to the edge of your underwear. "Answer me," she commanded.
Your skin bristled, and her hand kept moving down, threatening you.
"I already defied you," you whispered, knowing full well you would provoke her. You just wanted her to make you hers again.
You heard Wanda giggle, "You're lucky I have better things to do," she let go of you abruptly, walking away from you, subsequently taking a seat quietly in a nearby chair. "Fuck off then. You're not deciding to leave; I discarded you first. This is not an act of dignity," her sharp tone of voice cut you like never before. “Just know, I’ll make you regret this.”
You nodded your head, humiliated, but at the same time tired of it all, "Maybe I’ll regret it, but maybe I won’t," you implied. You couldn't show weakness, but your watery eyes gave you away. "Goodbye, Wanda."
"Honey, wake up," you heard her voice echoing through the atmosphere, but little by little, the image began to fade until it was all black. "Wake up, (Y/N)!"
You snapped your eyes open, and were met with the blurry sight of Wanda with an expression of utmost concern on her face. Your eyes were watery, your back was cold but covered in sweat, and your heart was racing.
It didn't take you long to hug her and cling to her as you sobbed uncontrollably. Despite her obvious confusion, she did not hesitate to reciprocate and comfort you.
"I had the most horrible dream ever," you said once you had calmed down enough.
"And it's different from the previous ones?" She questioned. "Because you had these dreams about Westview being part of a reality I created, which I dragged you into, but then it became a dream within a dream… it’s complicated but it’s been several ones, darling. I’m worried about you." She confessed.
You nodded, "This was the worst. I dreamt that the kids didn’t exist in our ‘multiverse’, they were simply a creation from your reality, but you got so obsessed with bringing them back,” you said, with a lump in your throat as you recalled. “You became a person I no longer knew, and I wanted to leave you, but you manipulated me into staying. You ordered me around, and when I had served your purpose, you decided you didn't want me anymore. I begged you to let me stay, and... you didn't care."
You didn't understand why these horrible dreams seemed to have a sequence, and why they were so long and so realistic that they kept haunting you.
"I would never do that!" She exclaimed, holding you tighter, shocked at what had been revealed to you through nocturnal reveries.
"Wh-what happened?" You heard Billy’s timid voice coming from the door frame, and as you turned your eyes, there stood your sons, Tommy and Billy. Their expressions as concerned as your wife's.
"Nothing, sweetheart. I just had a horrible dream," you replied, feeling the need to compose yourself quickly so they wouldn't see you this way.
Said need, however, faded as the twins ran in your direction and, along with Wanda, they hugged you so tightly that, little by little, the bitter memories were replaced by the love that reigned daily in this wonderful home this family had created.
Later that day, after a week of that incident, you arrived home with the groceries; the twins were already sound asleep upstairs.
"Mmmm, two bowls of ice cream in the dishwasher. Wanda Maximoff, you gave our kids ice cream for dinner?" You reprimanded her, not hiding your amusement despite trying to pretend being annoyed. She knew full well that she couldn't upset you.
"You can't resist when they both even make up a song to ask for it," she justified, raising her arms. "You know, we're so lucky to be here. Maybe these things are so simple, but I can't imagine all the circumstances that could have prevented you and I from being in this kitchen, talking, after you've gone grocery shopping... did you bring me something?"
You laughed, nodding slightly as you pulled out of the bag a package of M&M’s, the redhead’s favorite treats.
After she made tea for both of you, that night she made you aware of the Multiverse. It really existed and wasn't just a figment of your imagination, and your dreams were more like a journey into a universe where everything was actually happening.
With that in mind, it pained you to think that maybe you didn't do so well in all realities, but it also made you realize that you were the lucky one because you had a great life in Westview, with your wonderful wife and your precious kids.
"I think we should be careful, who knows if that fucking witch will manage to travel between universes and disturb our peace," you concluded, feeling the fear creep over you at the mere thought of that possibility.
"Fucking witch? You've called me a lot of names, but I don't like this one," Wanda replied, her eyes turning reddish. "Good, you drank your tea."
"Wanda... what...?"
"I told you I'd make you regret this, but I never specified in what universe."

Prompt #23: On Cloud Nine
“Wanna see somethin’ cool?” Her fool’s gold gaze flicked up towards him. He was sitting on the edge of her balcony. She didn’t ask how he got there. “…Sure. Why not?”
The plaza outside the residential unit was empty, clear, and blessedly free of any of the sentries on patrol. Pyrite was kicked back on a bench with a drink from the Vue in her hand, lazily watching him with a raised brow and a constant question resting on her lips. It went unsaid, of course, as he stood a little ways before her and stared up towards the top of the building. Inspecting, waiting. He clicked his tongue. “Alright. Surveillance gone- You just hang out down here, yeah?” He gave her a thumbs-up and an award winning smile that hadn’t quite gained all the years that would come. “I promise it won’t take long.” “Sure, Gal, I’ll wait. Long as you don’t expect me to follow you up there. Or you don’t come down with somethin’ that’s gonna get the Queen asking us where our minds went…” All she got back was a wink. She sighed.
He was already scrambling up the side of the building before she could say anything else. He wasn’t normally much of a law-breaker. No reason to be in his life. But there was one law he took great glee in disrespecting at every opportunity- As he flung himself from the bottom of a wall to its top ledge with nothing but his fingertips and toes he gave a loving curse to gravity trying to keep him on the ground. A surveillance drone’s engines whined underneath him as he slipped into a nook that barely fit him. Just enough to hide from its gaze as it swung around the building; then upon finding nothing worth looking at, it chirped and swerved to fly off towards the overpass that lay high above them. He tried not to laugh. Tried not to wave at it as it went. Another floor up, another terrace, now he was really getting into the weeds. Portions that were never really meant for some random people to be climbing on. Or standing on. Or just being near. He was fairly certain most of the top side of the building was maintained by drones and sentries judging by how little of it seemed to be made accessible from the inside. Fine with him- In fact. That’s exactly why he was here. It was a pretty important part of Solution 9- and Everkeep as a whole, really- that each level was independently capable of maintaining its atmospheric conditions. Everything from air quality to humidity, temperature to air movement. And most of it was controlled by behemoth structures of electrope that were the near-constant subject of surveillance, maintenance, and updates. While he found these gargantuan machines to be truly magnificent wonders of technology, he had a more grounded focus. A smaller scale idea in mind. The selfsame machines had smaller, localized, and specialized variants spread out throughout Solution 9. Many of which adorned the top and sides of buildings and structures- Especially the residential buildings. While no access was available, really, from the insides there was no reason to restrict them from the outside. Nobody sane was gonna climb the damn thing to get to them. And even if they did, what were they gonna do? Not like they had much in the way of controls, right?
As Galena slipped his flat-knife between the body of the machine and the maintenance panel he couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of him. He was, frankly, insane enough to do it. Especially for something like this.
“Hey, Pyre,” Came the crackle of his voice over her earpiece. She blinked out of the daze she’d fallen into before cocking her head and looking up. She couldn’t see him. “Yeah? You in trouble… wherever you’re at?” “Nope, just wanted to ask you a question.” She sat there for a moment, her jaw set. “As long as it ain’t the one I’m thinkin’ of.” He returned the momentary silence. “Remember when I was readin’ off those old sensor reports to ya?”
She clicked her tongue as her brow furrowed. She set down the drink she’d been ignoring and took in a breath as she tried to recall- That was years ago now, wasn’t it? They’d been assigned together. She was his guard, he was the scavenger. Get into an old monitoring station and take everything- even the wiring in the walls. Honestly it hadn’t been much of a memorable day. The rain was heavy but the lightning was merciful. “…Yeah…? You found some old storage or whatever and got really excited about… weather reports? I remember it was somethin’ about the rain.” The confident sound of his laugh came crackling through. “Yeah, the rain. Really old rain and weather reports that I don’t think anybody else would care for. But do you remember the specifics of why I was so happy to find ‘em?”
He didn’t need to see her face to know what expression she made. She didn’t need to see him to know he was grinning ear to ear.
A drop of water hit her on the head. She shielded her eyes as she looked up- Another, then another. The smell of rain filled the plaza, the taste of it filling the artificial lawn, the sight of it spilling across the walkways, the feeling of a light summer shower that hadn’t graced much else in so many a year, the scent of petrichor filling her head like a drug. But the sunlight of Everkeep’s sky-high life still glinted down. Galena’s voice crackled again as she stood in it, dumbfounded by him as she watched him descend down the side of the building giddy like a kid on his birthday. He was soaked. He was laughing. He was laughing the whole way down. “Sunshowers, Rite!”

I wish this were a movie
Dear reader, welcome to my TED Talk on why this book is in many ways better than the movie. And also that I can understand why it wasn't turned into a movie. Warning: I will be discussing spoilers. You have been warned.
The story begins a few years after the events of Aliens, the second movie in the spectacular Alien™ franchise. Ripley, Newt, Corporal Hicks and a badly damaged Bisschop have escaped LV-426 on the ship the Sulaco. They are all in cryo-sleep, well, except for Bisschop of course. Because he is an android.
Something goes wrong with the ship's navigation system, and the ship enters UPP borders: Union of Progressive Peoples. Well, so much for being progressive; they are socialists/communists who refuse to upgrade their technology because of their strong hatred towards capitalism. When the Sulaco floats by, they enter the ship, looking for something to steal from the capitalists. They find a sleeping pod with half an android and an alien egg growing from its abdomen.
Yes. You read that right. In this book, Xenomorph DNA can mix with android DNA. Mind = blown.
Anyways; where there is an egg, there is an idiot human who is going to hang directly above it to inspect it. A facehugger attacks and clings to one of the communists. Who is called Boris. Irony. He is shot by his crewmates, who flee with the android. They take it back to their space station "Rodina", where they start extracting information from the androids database in order to grow their own Ovomorph.
Meanwhile, the Sulaco floats further into space, until it reaches Anchorpoint, a huge space station. A few marines and a scientist board the ship. They are attacked by drones (the young adult form of Aliens). Which left me wondering where the chestbursting took place, because the people in the cryotubes are still okay. Apparantly, the aliens are evolving. A fight takes place. Luckily, our characters in the cryotubes survive, though Ripley is in a coma.
Newt is sent back to earth, to try and live a normal life with her family. And get some therapy, maybe. Ripley is also sent somewhere safe. Hicks is left alone. He picks up a job and tries to process what happened back on LV-426. Bisschop is fixed with some cheap materials and sent to Anchorpoint. All is well.
Or so we thought...
Both Rodina and Anchorpoint manage to create Ovomorphs, though they are different from the ones we know from the first two movies. A bunch of capitalist pricks try to make sure that the process goes smoothly, while Hicks and Bisschop try to sabotage the mission. Though they don't succeed, the pricks regret their decision quickly when everything goes wrong. During a meeting, a capitalist Barbie starts convulsing. A hybrid Xenomorph emerges from beneath her skin. No chestbursting. She rips away her skin, and BOOM: alien. She was not impregnated by a facehugger, but infected in a different way.
Hicks is forced to go on another bug-hunt (yay.) with some other marines, who quickly die since they don't have as much experience with the aliens as our precious husba- HICKS does. Eventually, they decide to nuke the space station. They evacuate as much people as possible, but most die on the way to the lifeboats because a large group of aliens is following them.
In the end, Hicks survives with Bisschop and a very cute female scientist. I was under the impression that Hicks was in some sort of a relationship with Ripley, but I must have been mistaken since he forms a very close bond with the scientist. Anyway, the three are saved by the only surviving communist (everything went to shit at Rodina space station, too). Hicks wonders if he is ever going to get some peace. And Bisschop tells him that he is not. Happy end :)
I love the movies and the video game, Alien: Isolation. So when I saw this book in the book store, there was simply no choice for me but to buy it. And the other alien books that were underneath it...
The first few chapters had a heavy focus on the socialists and Anchorpoint racing each other to see who can use the Xenomorph as a weapon, first. In the end, neither succeeds, but this mirrored the Cold War in many ways. I thought that was a pretty cool aspect.
After a while, this focus shifts to Anchorpoint and we don't hear much from Rodina anymore. At first I thought this to be strange, but I didn't mind anymore when shit went down and there was so much action I couldn't put the book down. At some point we went back to Rodina and everyone was dead. It felt weird to not read about them for so long and then have their story end, but I think having updates on them would've made the book too boring.
I loved how the author took the time to let the characters reflect on what was happening. For example, in the final scene, where they fly away from the nuked station; normally, you hear some orchestra playing and you see tired characters wrapped in blankets, battered with bruises, half-sleeping and ready to go home. And as viewers, you would have to imagine what they were thinking, what this scene meant. I didn't have to do any of that with this book, because this final scene was an entire chapter of the characters reflecting on what had happened to them and what their future would look like. This reflection was a perfect ending to the book and left room for future books or movies.
Now, I will quickly reflect on my problem with the third movie. It is the fact they spent the entire movie Aliens saving Newt, even going so far as to enter the nest for her, but they kill her off-screen during the opening credits. WTjklfjdlfjd. Newt might not have a big role in this book, but her story was ended properly, with a little girl going home to her family, finally save from all the horror. Don't get me wrong, I do like the third movie. It's just that her death doesn't sit right with me and makes me annoyed every time I watch the movie.
Despite all the great points of this book, I have one major issue. The authors have tried to introduce so many new types of aliens: hybrid aliens, aliens bursting from your leg instead of your chest, multiple aliens bursting and aliens from lemurs (who would actually look very cute imo). There is nothing wrong with these types of aliens, it's just that so many are introduced in one story that it's hard to keep up. Especially when it is turned into a two-hour movie.
Well, to answer that one question; is the book better than the movie? Signs point to yes. It is hard to compare such different stories, but I am happy that both exist. I would have liked to see this book turned into a movie. It would treat us to a lot of action and badassery.
Rating: 4/5 Lemur Xenos
