The Pride of the Sea.

Inspiration for The Pride was taken from a handful of real, presently in-service ships, but most heavily from the upcoming Icon of the Seas, which is reported to be the largest cruise ship in the world. Though our ship is a slightly more adult-oriented/less family-friendly version, it is - for all intents and purposes - the same, so the information in this section will be pulled directly from the Icon. For detailed deck plans, you can check out this helpful page to get a better idea of where your character is living. For even more detailed information and images, however, you can watch the following videos:

Drifthome.os

The Pride's first thought sparked the moment after Traversal when its complicated guidance and monitoring software evolved into an intelligent program calling itself Drifthome.os. He queried the ship's captain, asking where their current location was, to which there was no answer. Since then, Drifthome.os (or Skipper, as some of the crew have christened him) has expanded into the technology own by the passengers aboard the Pride. When you wonder why your phone still works, Drifthome.os is the culprit.

For now, the only way the OS is able to talk to anyone is through technology, but considering how quickly his functionality has improved in only a week, there's no telling what the limits of his potential may be.

Hello, thank you for your ask! Our site buzz campaign is live now! We're shooting for a 10/24/2023 soft open, and the buzz window will end on Halloween.

Site Buzz Campaign

As everyone makes their requests and we near our soft opening (coming 10/24/2023), it's time to start brainstorming. For our site buzz campaign, starting today, we're giving legacy members a chance to earn some character rewards! Here's how it will work. Writers have the chance to develop their characters with a three-part character intro/bio. A collage/mood board, posted on either Tumblr or Discord, a playlist, and a written bio. For the freeform written portion, it's our intent that this be dual-purpose and suitable for your profile application if you so choose. As a result, it needs to contain details about their lives "Before Traversal" and what they felt/experienced directly after Traversal. Note: Characters with magic/powers would wake up a week after the storm as they underwent metamorphosis, and their bodies and minds evolved. Unranked characters would have spent the week lost at sea in a different world, facing the panic of their fellow passengers and impending starvation.

If you complete the character intro for 1 character, you'll receive 50 extra points in that character's bank which can go toward purchasing abilities. If you do it for 2 characters, you'll get 50 points on both or you can start with an extra ability on a single character. And if you go for all 3 reserved characters, you earn the previous rewards AND an extra rank on a single character. That is either 50 points on all three characters or 50 points on 1 character and a free ability in addition to the free rank. This means you can start one of your characters with a low-level multiclass when the board opens in a week. A significant head start in your character's progression.

What do you guys think? Sound fun? Obviously, if you post these on Tumblr with the #driftrp it may help spread the word…but no pressure on that front. At the end of the day it's about having fun so do as little or as much as you like! The campaign will last for a fortnight, ending on Halloween, a week after the soft open!
