maddox was born the only child of an attorney and pharmacologist. his parents were absent for most of his childhood. they didn't intend to make him feel ignored. that was just an unintended but damaging consequence of the two of them prioritising their jobs over every other commitment. maddox’s mundane childhood memories involve a rotating roster of nannies

growing up maddox learned that there were two ways to get the attention he craved. his primary method of getting attention was to be the loudest and most charming person in the room. he aimed to make as many friendships as possible. as a child he spent more time eating dinner with his friends’ parents than with his own. his other method of getting attention was acting out. people couldn't ignore him when he answered back to teachers or got into fights with classmates who thought he was too obnoxious and blunt

when he first met jamie maddox was jelaous of him. jamie was handsome and likable. he wanted jamie's leadership position. but eventually he came to accept that wasn't going to happen. jamie was too charismatic and unlike maddox he was kind and dependable

harper and maddox didn't initially get along. harper thought he was smug and maddox thought she was a stick in the mud. due to the kind of forced proximity that only comes from being in the same college social circles they did eventually grow to like each other. harper realized that maddox could be endearing when he wasn't being an annoyance. maddox learned that harper had her playful moments and wasn't entirely a stern authority figure

after jamie's death maddox cut contact with almost everyone who was at the lake when jamie died. he had no idea how to process what happened. in his brain death wasn't something that happened to young lively people like jamie. death was meant to only come for old people who had already lived out their full lives

❖ Eros wasn't so much a surprise baby, as they were an unexpected plan for his parents. It also helped him not feel guilty over how much responsibility his older brother took on. Even being able to eventually ask if he could call him dad, after filling the role for so many years. ❖ He was over the moon when his brother met someone, though he was concerned when it turned out to be a married man, and not just any married man, but one of his best friend's dads. To say Iris' mom didn't take her husband coming out well, would be an understatement. But like always Eros kept his cool, being there for his best friend turned sister and his new dad. ❖ While things had a rocky start, the four settled into their new family dynamic, with Iris and Eros going to school together and even working the same part time job. It wasn't much of a surprise that they'd go on to have a radio show together, his cooler demeanor complimenting his sister's fiery energy into something entertaining. ❖ The only part of his life that did take his family by surprise was when he started dating Annabel Chase, his dads making sure that they weren't feeling pressured to date her. Quick to see that while the two had vastly different personalities, they balanced each other well, with Annabel pushing Eros to be more assertive and with Eros pushing her to be more empathetic.

I started drawing the og 16 lyctors firstly because I got inspired by other people's art and also because they're the characters that most fascinate me.

It started with me being silly but actually evolved into a ten-day art journey and while I wanna set some of these portraits on fire I thought I'd include them all to, hopefully, inspire someone.

I'll also be mentioning the fancast I used as inspiration, many of which I chose because ✨vibes✨ and nothing else. Here's a pinterest file of them all.

For some reason when thinking of Gideon, Flo Rida is what came to my mind... but trust me it works. Salma is just my favourite milf, I had to pick her for Pyrrha. For Valancy I heard curvy thicc and remember Jamie from Instagram so why not make her Asian and ginger? If Mercy gets her peach hair.

Now, you can see I started struggling with the face claims, fail after fail. I did not do my girl Tits justice here, she looks too serious but trust me she's just so chill. I also sketched the Quinques too small, and when it was time to outline... poor Alfred suffered.

Here is where I started having fun and was comfortable with the faceclaims, except for Nigella's. I chose a pretty woman to do justice to Mercy's words, but she was pretty in that modern conventional way I couldn't extract much from and ended up ruining her portrait. As an easter egg each pair of fancast speak the same languages.

I was on a row here, even if they're not the best I could've done. I put some pressure on myself to do well on Mercy bc she's my favourite and do like how she turned out even if I picture her chubbier than my faceclaim.

Did I choose Coppola bc of that scene from The Godfather 3 with the veil? Yes. I also have the headcanon that Anastasia was a sturdier woman and slowly her descendency shrunk to Harrow size.

Beside each of the portraits I did a looser drawing of the pairs in ballpoint pen that I progressively put more thought into it, those are too ugly to show but the few last I really liked it.

BACKGROUND: (tw: emotional abuse)

huang mei was a highly appraised ballerina with lots of promise. she was paving the way for asian / chinese dancers in an anglo - centric setting, while also doing something she loved. there was nothing she was more passionate about than ballet. which is why it was such a shock to everyone when she became pregnant at twenty - two.

there  was only one thing that could take mei's mind off of dance, and that was the one and only CHARLES FAVREAU. only two years older and not into ballet whatsoever, mei saw something in him she had never found elsewhere.

mei was twenty - three when she gave birth to her son. the second she laid eyes on him, she could see the resemblance to charles. the name ACHILLES came quickly to her. charles had always been her achilles heel, so it only seemed right to name the product of their relationship as such.

unfortunately, charles was not there for the birth of his son. mei wanted to make it work, but charles insisted he had his whole life ahead of him. he couldn't be tied down to a family this early in life.

growing up, achilles was never in control of anything in his life. living with just his mother, it only made sense he became a MOMMA'S BOY. however, this was only the start of his troubles.

as soon as achilles could walk, his mother tried to teach him beginner ballet moves. the attention span of a toddler is not great, so it wasn't a perfect plan. still, she persisted. she wanted achilles to be ahead of the game when she finally was able to enroll him in proper classes at the age of four.

as a child, achilles would do anything to spend time with his mother and make her happy. she always promised a break after practicing dance for hours, and they would do something he wanted during that break. unfortunately, those breaks never came and the training had to come to an end when achilles would get upset or antsy.

when you're five, there's no real pressure to do anything. it was just annoying to dedicate so much time to something he had no interest in. however, when you're seven and your mother starts telling you she threw her whole career away just to have you... there's a bit more pressure to continue dancing .

it was a sentiment he heard his whole life. GETTING PREGNANT WITH YOU RUINED MY CAREER. I GAVE UP MY CAREER TO RAISE YOU. I LOST THE BEST MAN BECAUSE I DECIDED TO KEEP YOU. achilles no longer felt like an individual, but more like a puppet or a pawn in a game he was unaware he was playing. his mother had planned his whole life, and there was nothing he could do about it.

funnily enough, achilles was not an only child. his father made three appearances in his life, each ending up bringing achilles a sister about a year later. being the oldest and only boy still brought immense pressure into his life. he was now forced to dance for hours and hours on end, as well as tend to his little sisters due to his mother's exhaustion after his ballet classes.

when he was ten, his mother began insisting they dance together. he didn't mind it too much, in fact, he kind of thought it was fun. it was hard for his mother to criticize his movements if she was too focused on her own.

this continued for a few years, but achilles grew more and more tired of it as the years went on. plus, if anyone caught wind of it, it would be absolutely EMBARRASSING.

at the age of fifteen, achilles finally put his foot down. he'd never stood up to his mother before, and he was definitely trembling at the mere thought of it. he knew how much his dancing meant to his mother, so he promised to continue under one condition. NO MORE DANCING TOGETHER.

mei tried to pull her usual i gave everything up for you, the least you could do is allow me to dance. still, he refused to back down. she could dance all she wants, just not with him. or he'd be prepared to throw it all away. it was a long argument, but eventually his mother backed down. she couldn't risk him throwing in the towel.

achilles begrudgingly continued dance for the next decade. not for his mom ( he moved out the moment he turned eighteen ) but because he had nothing else to show for himself. he never did well academically, because his mother always taught him to put schoolwork on the backburner. college didn't seem like an option because of that. the only way he knew how to stay afloat was to continue with dance.

he was twenty-eight when he somehow stumbled into denver. it wasn’t totally by accident. he needs to get out of washington, but he can’t make a DRASTIC change. the weather is similar, it’s a good distance from his mother, and weed is legal.

growing up, preston always had one role. he was the big brother, he was the one that looked out over his younger siblings while his parents were working long hours. he was always watching over his two younger siblings being a parental figure to them. he was always so supportive and always felt like he was very committed to his family, repressing who he was.

once he entered high school, he realized that he had many talents and many different interest. he loved music. he was big on music. he loved music growing up, playing guitar and piano. and that interest continued in high school, and he picked up singing. that was when his music teacher told him that he should apply to music schools. but he never found it practical.

but when he started to create content and posting it alone, that's when he was discovered. an little canadian with a voice of an angel. the amount of views he'd get, people started to find him more and more that eventually a manager for a music label found him and he signed with the record label.

this was a huge surprise for his family. but they were very proud of whatever preston did. so he had his first ep at 17, which debuted number 5 on billboard. it was an accomplishment. but he felt like it was a one and done. he wanted to finish his senior year of high school, and then college was around the corner too. but that didn't stop him from posting covers, and going to different events to perform his ep.

once he was in college, that was when he knew that music really was something he wanted to do. so his sophomore year, he ended up writing another album, cranking it out and eventually releasing it. it ended up debuting number one on billboard 100. it was such a success, he was in the eyes of taylor swift, in which preston had become her opener for her 1989 tour.

preston's next album was when he found pure success. girls loved him, men wanted to be him. and it was nonstop recording and planning for future music and albums, he was loving it. but he was missing a lot of things, his family, his friends, and he started to see himself change and mold into what the record label wanted him to be.

hiding his sexuality was something he had done for a long time, but now the label wanted him to perceive himself as the bachelor boy, someone that everyone wanted to be with but couldn't have. he wasn't sure if he would outlast that, but he was in his twenties, and he was having fun. and his self titled album, preston campbell, had found even more success than the last albums. so he didn't stop.

but now, preston was thirty, in the middle of writing his latest album, recording new songs, and now there was a guy that he had eyes for that has changed everything about him. one of the songs being written about himself, his identity, but also for the guy that he was falling for every day. as terrified as he is to be his most truest and authentic self, he is willing to risk the backlash from his fans and his label if he decided to fully come out and choose the guy he wants to end up being with.
