Hellow! I subscribed to you a long time ago. Back in the days when you published the Dragomatsu comic. I still adore this AU of yours. As far as I understand, you are no longer planning to work on this project. Could you briefly tell us what events were going to happen next in this comic?

Hi! Thank you for still following me even though I didn't update anymore <3 It's true, I'm not going to continue working on the comic. I'm currently working on an original comic (close to finishing the first page), doing two at the same time would be impossible;; (and the Dragonmatsu comic would have been much to big to ever finish anyway). I don't mind telling what I was planning with it though! (It's been a while and I didn't write everything down, but I'll do my best to try and remember). I'll try to keep it as short as possible;; xD --- From the final page I posted: Jyushimatsu would get taken away by the knights at the announcement, and Osomatsu rushes to try and bail him out (this is when he'd meet (the old version of) my oc Fenric for the first time). Jyushimatsu ends up getting away with a warning, mostly because the king wants to keep peace with the dragons. After this chapter, I had a whole story planned out where Jyushimatsu would get very ill, but no doctor would be willing to help except Dekapan (who's not fully recognized as a doctor with his weird magic potions). It turns out Jyushimatsu was poisoned by an angry villager, making the Matsus more aware that some humans *really* don't want them there (Oso starts turning really protective because of this as well). At some point, the king gets sick and passes away, and the prince takes over. He hates dragons due to trauma (if you look at the panel where he's upset in chapter 3, you can see that he misses a finger). Vitharr (the big red haired oc dude) decides to use that to his advantage and makes a plan where he will frame the Matsus for setting off a fire during the coronation festivities, turning most of the village against them and having the new king abolish the laws protecting (half)dragons. Vitharr ends up getting a position among the knights (And general Muno leaves, as she doesn't agree with what is happening), but he leaves his old crew behind who decide to try and capture the Matsus before he could (and get the reward). They end up causing the Matsu's house to burn down, but the Matsus escape and decide to flee the village.

This would be the end of the "first part" of the story, after this the Matsus would wander a dangerous forest while being hunted down by Vitharr (who was forced to team up with Fenric, a mage with an obsession with dragon magic). They would discover much more about their powers, where they came from, etc. Osomatsu grew to distrust humans, Karamatsu would have a bunch of old trauma to work through, Choromatsu and Todomatsu would have a lot of issues adjusting to the new situation (in their own ways), and Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu's powers would end up clashing and causing issues in their relationship. I didn't write most of the latter stuff down so I don't remember all of it ;w; I think I had plans for the Matsus to all meet a full dragon of their own element at some point? Like the test comic I made with Karamatsu and the dragon in the big whirlpool... If you want to know about more specific stuff, just let me know! It's fun to go back to an old project like that sometimes, haha!

I made a sort of flight rising/dragon Oso-san au. Kara’s the only one with completed art so far, but I’ve sketched out the others too!! It’s an au I’ve sorta put together with a friend of mine on discord. This Karamatsu was actually made collaboratively between us!! She did the lineart based on my sketch, and I colored! 

I also have dragons for all the boys on flight rising that I’m basing these designs on!! Kara’s here ^^

warning: there’s no point to what I’m about to say here, it’s going to be long and it’s going to be 100% incoherent tired whining so you’ll really be much better off if you just forget it and go back to what you were doing

my writing background is heavily founded in roleplay, specifically one single roleplay group that I participated in right up until just before I started foraying into fanfiction. players came and went and sometimes we switched out characters but it was always the same world, the same timeline, for about six years. it was less like roleplaying and more like collaborative storywriting really, and generally speaking we all really valued coming up with new plots to play and creative ways to grow our characters. there wasn’t a big focus on uniqueness or anything but because it was always same world and same timeline you sort of had to keep thinking up new and different things or it would be kind of weird, like if your character gets stranded in the forest once you kind of can’t do that again with them because they’d learn from the experience, plus the world itself was responsive so like there were only so many times the bad guys could just walk into places pretending to be civilians and then carry out an attack before security tightened up and started putting in countermeasures. generally speaking once a plot was done you pretty much could not feasibly do it again the same way just by virtue of how the game ran

ANYWAY what I’m trying to get at is, while I can’t speak for everyone in the group, it became very important to me personally to come up with new and interesting stuff to do with my plots and characters. I wanted to do stuff that people hadn’t really done before and explore angles that people hadn’t really explored before and my usual partners were of similar thinking. and then there were people, especially one person in particular, who were much less invested in that challenge and who cherrypicked things that other people came up with and pretty much just ripped them off and with some things you had the right to step in and say “I’m sorry but because of X and Y in-character factors it doesn’t make sense for this to go this way” but most of the time you’d just have to grit your teeth and accept that this person was totally ripping off your hard-thought-up plot

I don’t know if that’s why I started feeling protective of my ideas or if it bothered me so much because I was already naturally protective of my ideas - bit of a chicken and egg dilemma there - but either way the way I am now is the way I am now: I’m EXTREMELY invested in coming up with ideas that offer fresh and original perspectives. tropes are tropes and drawing inspiration from other sources is kind of unavoidable but if I can’t put a uniquely suu twist on something then I won’t even entertain the thought of actually producing it

and here’s where it gets tricky. if I have an idea... and somebody else has the same or a very similar idea..... I’m very likely to start thinking about giving up on mine. I really hate feeling like I’ve been ripped off, so I don’t ever want to give someone the impression that I’ve ripped them off, so if someone happens to go public with something similar to a thing I still have in some stage of production, I’m very very likely to give up on the thing completely. that very nearly happened with chf, I was smack in the middle of it when someone posted a “karamatsu goes missing after being kidnapped by a stalker” story and I was like are you fucking kidding me but it turned out to be porn so I convinced myself to keep going, and right now I’m currently struggling to figure out whether or not the holy knight/parallel world fic is something I should actually continue to pursue now that dragonmatsus and fullbokko AUs are gaining popularity. I will absolutely 100% throw shit completely out the window if I feel like someone else is filling a similar niche even if I logically know that I would approach it differently purely by nature of having a different brain and different thoughts, it’s not even voluntarily it’s like a switch just gets flipped and something abruptly dumps all my motivation down the drain while screaming “SOMEONE’S ALREADY DOING THIS, SOMEONE ELSE GOT THERE FIRST, IF YOU DO IT NOW YOU’LL BE COPYING THEM SO GIVE UP! GIVE UP!!!”

that’s the main thing I wanted to whine about here because it’s kind of stupid and I know it but it keeps happening anyway, but as long as we’re here lemme just throw in a bonus: I said myself just a little while ago “drawing inspiration from other sources is kind of unavoidable,” I know that very well and I also know that it’s unavoidable that people will occasionally have the same ideas completely separately from one another but please don’t.... don’t copy anything from me? I know I post quite a few ideas on here and it’s not like they’re terribly original but please don’t like knowingly and purposefully do the same or extremely similar stuff? (like when it comes to details I mean, general tropes aren’t something I’d ever try to stake any kind of claim on) I won’t ever confront anyone or call out anyone or anything, I’ll just feel really bad and probably give up on my own stuff. that feels like kind of a pretentious thing to say and is in all likelihood the furthest concern but just. puttin it out there. just in case I guess

These days I've finished reading the dragonmatsu doodle comics ,too🤗(god sextuplet are SOOO CUTE! ) And there is one question I've kept thinking: since sextuplet are just half dragons , maybe the origin of their elements comes from outside? Like, the elements chose sextuplet to be the master for some reasons, they are not innate.

Besides, I also notice Totti still gets along well with Atsushi, who seems to be an aristocrat with great power. Is there any chance that he hatches a plan to change the political dynamics with Totoko and general Muno? (they're all familiar with kingdom)

……Ahhhh too many thoughts. How appealing the dragonmatsu is! I hope my lengthy words won't bother you😶Keep going on creating more fantastic illustrations and comics!!!

Hey! My Twitter doesn't properly show dm's from people I haven't followed (it doesn't notify me), so I indeed didn't see it until now (I'll send a reply to your message there as well :) I never really made a decision on how their seperate element powers came to be for the comic, but I discussed some ideas in this answer to an ask a few years ago. I do really like your idea, it's a much more sense making magical explanation than the life-magic idea and not as... troublesome as the biological one. I DID, however, think up an origin story for their elements when I thought up a new Dragonmatsu story, which I posted on Twitter here. This story has nothing to do with the comic though, and is much more fairytale-like. As for Atsushi, I remember having plans for him trying to help and fix the situation. The aristocracy was divided by elements of mages, as the ability to control specific elements well depended on family. The gem Atsushi gave to Totty was an air-gemstone, crafted specifically to help Totty control his magic a little bit better and protect him when needed (He wears a different one himself as well). His easy access to air gemstones? He's part of the Air Nobility, just like Muno :) So he already knew her! Also, before the situation with Vitharr and the prince, the Dragon Hunters were only there to protect the kingdom from danger, not to seek out and kill dragons. Totoko also didn't want to be part of the new regime just like Muno, and I had plans for her and Chibita to team up and search for the Matsus :) And no worries about the questions! I think it's fun to go back to old projects, it's nostalgic but also shows me how far I've come since then <3

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

Oooofff honestly if we're going to count every drawing as a "project" then there'd be too many to count. So I'm gonna mention a few of the more abitious ones :'D Which mostly were webcomics.

- The one I know you are definitely familiar with, which was the comic Sayuria. It was my first serious attempt at a webcomic, and I got quite a lot of worldbuilding and character stuff done (which I probably wouldn't have without your help, ngl).

I managed to post 4 pages of it in the end, but ended up feeling demotivated pretty quickly;; It wasn't just because I felt no one was going to read it anyway, but also because the scope of it was much too big and I knew I'd never finish it in a lifetime anyway. Maybe this could have worked in novel-form, but as a comic? No way.

That said, I actually happened to look back into some old writing yesterday, and the writing was...pretty awful. It's funny to look back on oc's you were super hyped about, to realize that they aren't likeable to you anymore a few years later :')

I do think it could be fun to do a re-design of the characters based on their descriptions, to see how I'd depict them now.

This one made it to 2,5 chapters, but after about half a year I ended up running out of steam, it was taking up 99% of my free time and I just didn't feel good doing it? That was caused by a mixture of bad planning (once again, a comic that would take years to finish), the fact I just felt really shit emotionally at the time, and the feeling of wanting to make something I could actually monetize.

I learned a lot from it though, especially about comic-creation. And from it came my oc's Fenric and Jacob, who are the main characters of my current comic project :')

I've also had a few crazy little project ideas like custom skin creation for League, web animation, visual novels, etc. But I didn't even manage to get those in a stage of creation, lmao.

Quick update: I wanted to give a shot at writing in prose again, something I dropped because I kept getting caught on trying to write well instead of getting the general idea down.

The thing is, the script style writing I tried to do afterwards didn't allow me to really get into a characters head as much as prose does, which I think made the dialogue a bit stale and the characters respond in ways that just didn't feel quite right for them

I just rewrote the page I'm working on now + what comes after in prose again and guess what.

I'm 100% happier with it already.

So yeah, this is how I'll move on from now :)

Got these moments where the insecurity about my comic just hits hard. The dialogue just flows awfully and it's all such a mess. I might take a short break to sort a few things out and make sure I'm prepared a little bit better o(-(
