Patient Alleges Of Being Denied Treatment At Delhi's Lok Nayak Hospital
https://www.liveindiatimes.com/patient-alleges-of-being-denied-treatment-at-delhis-lok-nayak-hospital/
The man said that there are seven more COVID-19 patients at his home.
New Delhi:
A COVID-19 positive patient in Delhi on Wednesday alleged that he was denied admission at Lok Nayak Hospital for immediate treatment.
The Lok Nayak Hospital is the biggest facility provided by the Delhi government to treat coronavirus patients.
Naseem, a resident of Chooriwalan, alleged that three other relatives from his family reached the Lok Nayak Hospital for medical aid, but were denied treatment at the facility.
He said that there are seven more COVID-19 patients at his home.
According to Naseem, he and his family members tested positive for COVID-19 after getting RT-PCR tests from a private lab after which they went to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment.
“I am standing outside Lok Nayak Hospital along with my son, nephew and brother. We all have tested positive for COVID-19. But none of the healthcare staff is listening to us. I had also informed the police about our health condition. Now, that we have reached here, I urge hospital authorities to help us and admit us,” said Naseem.

For more than two hours, Naseem and his family members were waiting outside the Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. “We have come all the way walking from my house so that once we get ourselves admitted at the hospital. Then, we can also call seven other people from our family (including a two-month-old infant) who have detected positive for the virus. But, nobody is helping us,” he said.
However, Dr JC Passey, medical superintendent of Lok Nayak Hospital, told ANI, “We have admitted three persons from the family who have tested coronavirus positive. It includes the elderly and other patients with comorbid conditions and a two-month-old infant.”
Dr Passey informed that Lok Nayak Hospital admits COVID-19 patients falling under category 3, which include those who are very sick and requires ICU and ventilation support.
Recently, the central government issued guidelines for all states to classify hospitals under three categories for COVID-19 patients. All three types of COVID-19 dedicated facilities will have separate earmarked areas for the suspect and confirmed cases.
The suspected and confirmed cases should not be allowed to mix under any circumstances.

Jamaat members resisting testing, hospitalisation, complains Delhi hospital - india news
A Delhi hospital said on Thursday that many members of the Tablighi Jamaat, suspected of carrying coronavirus infection, are resisting testing for the disease and feel they do not require to be admitted to the hospital. A hospital official quoted by news agency ANI said this was putting the security of the medical staff at the hospital at risk.
Medical director of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain Hospital (LNJPN) in Delhi, said 188 out of 216 Covid-19 patients at the hospital were from the Tablighi Jamaat from Nizamuddin and 23 out of the 24 samples tested from the group had come out positive. He called the situation “alarming”.
“We’ve 216 Covid-19 patients, out of which 188 belong to one group (attendees of Tablighi Jamaat event). We had received reports of 24 patients from the group out of which 23 tested positive. This is alarming,” said Dr JC Passey, Medical Director of Delhi’s LNJPN Hospital
He added that police has been deployed around the three blocks were the attendees of the Jamaat were admitted to prevent them from causing any trouble.
“Many of them (attendees of Tablighi Jamaat event) are objecting against testing and they feel they don’t need admission (to the hospital). So, this puts the security of our staff at risk. Now, police have been deployed around 3 blocks where they have been kept,” Dr JC Passey was quoted as saying by ANI.
The Indian railway authorities, too, had reported alleged misbehaviour by some of the members of the Tablighi Jamaat admitted at its quarantine facilities on Wednesday. The authorities had complained that some members had made unreasonable demands related to food and raised a din at the centre that also included threatening behaviour towards the nursing staff.
In another related incident in Madhya Pradesh, two doctors are reported to have suffered injuries in an incident of stone-pelting in Indore when they were out to screen and identify possible Covid-19 patients in the city, which is among the worst affected in the state.
Roughly, 8,800 members of the Jamaat, who had attended a three-day religious meet at the Tablighi Jamaat headquarters in Nizamuddin, are being traced by Indian authorities after it emerged that several of them were infected with coronavirus and could spread the disease further in the local communities in different states. The congregation is being called the single largest source of infections in the country, as of now and efforts are on to trace, test and quarantine its members.

5 more govt hospitals to fight Covid-19 - delhi news
With a surge in the number of infection cases likely in the city after health officials uncovered the clustering at Nizamuddin, the government has decided to convert five of its tertiary care hospitals to dedicated Covid-19 centres.
This will earmark at least 5,850 beds for the management of Covid-19 patients in Delhi, officials said.
Lok Nayak, Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Guru Teg Bahadur, Rajiv Gandhi super speciality, and Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospitals have started working on moving their non-Covid patients to other hospitals, said to a Delhi government order issued on Tuesday.
Another 200 bed in Guru Nanak Eye Centre in Lok Nayak campus may also be added if needed.
On Tuesday, 23 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the city, taking the total up to 120. The test reports of none of the people evacuated from the Nizamuddin markaz had come back on Tuesday and the number of people who tested positive from the area remained at 24. Another person who had tested positive on Saturday had visited the dargah.
The reports of 441 people from the markaz, who showed symptoms of the virus, is awaited.
The Delhi government is still in the process of tracing 18 other people who tested positive at private laboratories. The government is trying to trace the history of all the 18.
Delhi government’s biggest tertiary care centre Lok Nayak hospital, along with government’s only superspeciality hospital GB Pant on the same campus, are preparing to become Covid-19 hospitals.
“Any patient that can be discharged, will be. For those who still need hospitalisation, they will be moved to other Delhi government hospitals or even to a private hospital, if need be,” said Dr JC Passey, medical director of Lok Nayak campus.
The hospital is also in the process of moving its out-patient clinic to the separate orthopaedics block and the surgical emergency to Sushruta Trauma centre in Civil Lines. “We are in the process of converting the entire 2,700 bed facility for Covid-19,” said Dr Passey. The government is also exploring the option of opening up a newly constructed hospital in Burari with 1,000 beds – of which 10 -15% will have ventilators.
