He is a Professor & Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (LTMG) (also known as ‘Sion Hospital’) and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College. Dr Alok Sharma is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Fortis Hospitals in Mulund (Mumbai) and at present the Director of NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute that is famous for treating patients with neurological disorders.
Dr Alok Sharma neurosurgeon was born on 27th June 1961 in India. He completed his MBBS, M.S., and M.Ch. from ‘Seth G.S. Medical College’ and ‘KEM Hospital’ in Mumbai, and pursued his desire of being a top neurosurgeon. He successively completed fellowships in two departments which were pioneers in performing stem cell transplantation. At the Karolinska hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, Dr Alok Sharma completed his Fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and Gamma Knife. This hospital was the first clinic where neural therapy was done successfully. Later, he pursued a Fellowship in Neuro-transplantation at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, USA in the year 1998.
