Thank you for the great work on KBS cotent, much appreciated. I am new to the fandom but i quite literally devoured all the available volumes already....and of course i watched the 2 episodes of the anime (easily started thinking this might have become my fav manga so far :o ) Not really in the mood of reading The Challengers story of Souichi's lil bro though. Any suggestions for me to start reading and/or watching (would be great if there was an anime adaptation but ok) now that i set the standard high??? :( Thanks again

Even if you skip the chapters about the little brother, there are 4 chapters of Challengers that are all about Souichi and Morinaga so if you haven't read those you really should. (If you read on bato.to they're the ones translated by me, you can also find them in my masterpost in the download folder)

Also, have you tried reading the KSB doujin called Aru hi, Mori no Naka? It's pretty good, just be ready for a sad ending ;_; (It's not like they break up or anything. It's not sad in that way lol)

My memory is honestly horrible about stories I've read so I should really try to remember some manga I've read but a few I know I like are Dokyuusei (and the series that follows, they all have different names about the stage of life they're in), and Blue Sky Complex. I personally love Akiyama-kun but I don't know if it's for everyone lol... and I don't think it ever finished getting scanlated.

That will at least give you a place to start and I'll try to come up with a list of others I would recommend lol

list of manufacturers i've tried. hopefully easier for other artists to get started in the merch game. Singapore/SEA centric. I update this whenever I feel like it.

Taobao manufacturers require some basic Chinese knowledge, but it's honestly not that bad. May set up a phrases masterpost in the future.

Use at your own risk because your experience might not be the same as mine. But this is what I've personally experienced!

[R] - Recommended. However, try at your own risk. Caveats will be mentioned

[NR] - Meh. Usable but probably not recommended

STICKERS/PRINTING

[R] Danlim - Self-service again. Less self-prep needed, the people there will give you feedback if they think your alignment is messed up (very helpful!). Supports self-collection or delivery (but delivery is on the expensive end). Supports holo which is very nice. Low MOQ.

[R] walyadfx.sg - Shopee manufacturer. Only tried them for transfer stickers. Self setup on an A5/A4/A3 sheet, but since they're transfer stickers there's no cutlines needed. Affordable and low-ish MOQ (if A5 sheets count as such lol) Came pretty fast and the quality was good

[NR] Gogoprint - Self-service is neat. However, you need to prep the files yourself, and a lot can go wrong. Some stuff to take note of is the correct PDF format (PDF X-1A), and making sure your strokes don't turn into vectors (there are some cases where this happens). High MOQ. Otherwise, more crisp than Vograce.

[NR] Vograce - Shipping isn't worth it. Printing is a little duller.

ACRYLIC CHARMS

[R] Juno Creative (Taobao) - Also on Alibaba at a slight markup. Good, affordable, better quality than Vograce. Hot stamped colors are gold/silver/red/green/blue/light blue/purple/pink. Please note that if you're doing hot stamping, DO EPOXY. The foil is not stable and will peel off otherwise. One-sided hot stamping otherwise. Use Weiyun to send larger files to them

[R] Bemick/Wenzhou Yadian (Alibaba) - My go-to for hot stamping. Supports single or double sided. Offer gold/silver/red/green/blue. Printing is generally better quality than both Juno and Vograce, but double sided prints "hover" slightly if that bothers you. Hot stamp is more iridescent than metallic. I like it though. Low MOQ but costly at lower MOQs.

[NR] Vograce - Still has the dull printing problem. Gross markup

PLUSHIES

[R] Gaopeng Toys (Alibaba) - Hesitant recommendation. They are the safe and commonly used option and have a low MOQ (as low as 1), but obviously low is expensive. Up to 3 changes allowed per sample, otherwise you pay the cost again. They handled the engineering of my complex sample pretty well. However, they have a tendency of using craft glue instead of something like a ladder stitch, which may be invisible or awful-looking depending on your product.

Have not mass produced with them yet. Treat as a cheap plush commission (assuming your local indie artist isn't open for comms).

[NR] Vograce (Manjuu) - They're probably middlemanning. They actually fucked up and sent my sample with its back upside down (yikes). Printing is dull (a common Vograce problem). Not sure who they're middlemanning for, but likely Doujin Studio (haven't tried) is my guess.

COINS

[R] Jinyin (Taobao) - Hesitant recommendation. WeChat needed for communication. Printing quality is nice, and they give advice to make your design read better. But the rep flipped out at me because I had an unusual shipping address (Taobao's warehouse).

[NR] Wenzhou Jinshi (Taobao) - WeChat needed for communication. Printing quality worse than Jinyin. Rep flipped out at me for sending the Chinese equivalent of Google Drive (Weiyun). Generally rude aside from that, no feedback given, and they get a lot of customers, so you're not important.

SPECIAL CLASPS

If yoiu're non-Chinese, you can order from here too! Do check the r/taobao subreddit for guides on setting up.

Please try to select 'Direct Shipping' instead of 'Consolidation' during payment though, otherwise you'll need to jump through some hoops with Alipay in order to pay Taobao. (Not impossible, just frustrating and scary if you think your packages are going to be held hostage)

9 Tell a story about your childhood

Ok so, years ago when I was in primary school, the park at the end of my street got a renovation. People came with trucks and scrapers to remake the riverbanks. The side of the place undergoing maintenance was a dust field, no more grass grew there but it was also mostly unguarded and had no fencing. I waited patiently for the rain to turn everything into thick mud and one rainy day I just told my mum "I'm going to the park :) " She agreed and I had the best time of my life in the dirt. She had to get me clean with the garden hose- Flash forward to when I was I think 15, I'm having dinner with my uncles and some of their friends. They're discussing stuff but at some point one of them says "And don't forget that time I was fined because of a kid playing in the site I was working on!!" Turns out the kid was me and I got the company fined because the police, which has its base facing the park, apparently saw what I was doing all alone and unsupervised-

For me, this fic is like an absolute perfection. I don’t know. 

I sometimes find a perfect fic for a fandom which makes my need for writing a fic of my own disappear. After all, perfection already exists and is embodied in that fic. Why should I ruin it? This series is that fic and it it existed 2.5 years ago, we wouldn’t have Rivals because i would feel no need to create it.

That unfortunately, also means that Rivals will be probably my last work in BSD fandom. I was going to do another, way shorter doujin, but everything I wanted to put in there, which didn’t fit in Rivals, is already in that series. The cage metaphor, Mori being a manipulative asshole, Chuuya, well, the end of Powerless, you know what I mean.  After reading this series it feels like I have nothing left to say.

(Since dawn, the sky had been covered by a thick layer of clouds. This lasted until midday, when a great torrent of rain finally fell.)

Chizuru: It rained yesterday, and it’s continuing to rain today too.

Okita: Does Chizuru-chan not like the rain? 

Chizuru: It’s not that I don’t like it… It’s just that the washed laundry never dries on rainy days. It’s very troublesome.  

Okita: If the rain does continue, that really will be annoying. I don’t actually mind the rain, though… Hajime-kun probably feels the same way, right?

Saito: The rain on rainy days, the clear sky on sunny days… Each has their own merits.

However, to be able to watch as countless drops of rain fall from the sky… that is not a bad thing.

Okita: To watch the rain… Hajime-kun , you’re too boring. It’s not like you’re Hijikata-san or anything.

Saito: He likely does not have the time for skywatching in the first place.

Okita: Who knows? Isn’t Hajime-kun thinking too highly of Hijikata-san? Nobody can say for sure if he’s actually taking the leisure to look at the sky right now.

Although it is everyone’s choice how they want to spend rainy days. Still, if the rain is as heavy as this, there’s no way we can go out. It’s too boring.

Chizuru-chan, what do you plan to do?

What so you plan to do? 1. Stay here 2. Watch the sky 3. Go somewhere else

What do you plan to do? > Stay here

Chizuru: I think I’ll stay here for a while.

Okita: Really? Then I’ll stay here too.

Chizuru: Eh...

Okita: Are you giving me that reaction because you don’t want to stay here with me?

Chizuru: That’s not it...

(I gave a look of slight confusion to Okita-san, who was now sitting beside me. Then, I sat down too.)

Okita: ……

Chizuru: …...

(We didn’t make any conversation at all, and just listened to the sound of the rain together in silence.)

Chizuru: Um...

Okita: Having rainy days once in a while isn’t bad… Don’t you think so?

(Without waiting for me to start talking, Okita-san went ahead and broke the silence.)

Okita: We can really slack off only when there’s rain like this.

Or are you saying that you don’t want to stay here with me?

Chizuru: How could I say that…!

Okita: Really? But every time I come near you, your whole body stiffens up, and you have a really unenthusiastic look on your face.

Seeing you like that makes me feel bad. Like, that you hate me or something. 

Chizuru: How could I hate you! I actually...

Okita: Actually… What?

(Okita-san looked at me with a mischievous smirk.)

(He probably doesn’t want to know what I think at all, and actually just wants to see how I look when I’m confused. This is making the distrust I have of him grow in my heart.)

(And it’s just because of this that I have no way to tell him that the truth is, I like him.)

Chizuru: It’s nothing...

Okita: Is it? ...Nothing?

Chizuru: Um, Okita-san… I really… don’t hate you...

Okita: You don’t need to force yourself to say that. The way I see it, I could take your life away at any moment. Why should you care about someone like me?

But you know, I actually like you a lot, so I hope you can feel some interest in me too. ...I was just thinking that.

(Although I didn’t know what he really thought, Okita-san’s expression was really very gentle. I couldn’t help but nod sincerely.)

What do you plan to do? > Watch the sky

(I looked over at Saito-san, and found him staring straight out the window.)

(I wanted to understand the world that Saito-san’s eyes beheld as much as possible, so I followed him and raised my head to look at the sky.)

Chizuru:  …...

(Thick, dark clouds covered the sky, and a continuous shower of rain hit the ground.)

(I couldn’t tell what Saito-san was thinking at all from his side profile as he silently watched the rain.)

(Until now, Saito-san had watched the rain with a blank expression. And unconsciously, I started following him...)

(Faced with such a gloomy day, I wonder what Saito-san will think of it?)

Chizuru: This heavy rain… Will it continue until tomorrow?

Saito: This is something only heaven knows… It’s beyond my capability to find that out.

Chizuru: W-What you said is true...

(I regretted having asked such a silly question. What I wanted to ask him about in the first place should have been something else...)

Saito: If the temperature falls, the rain will turn into snow… Likewise, snow will inadvertently become rain.

There is nothing in this world that can change their form at will. Once you hear* this, it really makes you feel uneasy. (*lit. “Say”, changed for naturalness)

....I want to rely on my own strength to turn the future of the Shinsengumi around. ...My fear is that even that is a hopeless dream.

(What he said didn’t seem to be directed at me, rather, it was as if he was thinking aloud. Gazing at Saito-san’s side profile as he watched the overcast sky, I didn’t know what would be good enough to say to him.)

Chizuru: I think that Saito-san is...a very strong person.

(Thinking over it, the only words I could come up with were so simple.)

Saito: I am not even the least bit strong. I’ve just never stopped hoping that I could turn myself into a strong person. 

The people with true strength are Kondo-san and Hijikata-san... The two of them might be able to light up these dark clouds.

And I can only stand by and witness the never-ending transformation of things like the rain.

Chizuru: Can I...see those things with you? I want to see what it is ahead that Saito-san is going after.

(Seeing my serious expression, Saito-san was distracted for a moment, but quickly put on a smile.)

Saito: If that’s what you want, I don’t have the power to deny you that.

(To want to see the same things as Saito-san. With that thought, I too raised my head to face the rainy sky.)

(Just as how there will never be rain that doesn’t stop falling, I hoped that there would be a day where the dark clouds looming over the Shinsengumi would be dispelled.)

What do you plan to do? > Go somewhere else

(It may be because he mentioned Hijikata-san’s name that Okita-san started caring about his present situation.) (I think it should be “because Okita-san mentioned his name, I started caring”, but no, 冲田先生开始在意起了他的情况?)

(Just what could he be doing on a rainy day like this…?)

(If he was working at this moment, maybe I would be bothering him. Despite telling myself that, I couldn’t let go of my concerns and set off towards Hijikata-san’s room.)

Chizuru: Um... Hijikata-san. Can I trouble you for a moment?

Hijikata: ....No problem. Come in.

Chizuru: Excuse me...

Hijikata: What’s wrong? Is there something you need to see me about?

Chizuru: Ah, no… It’s just that the rain is getting heavier and heavier, and I wanted to come by to see how you were doing here.

Hijikata: What? Is it worth getting so worried over just some rain? Don’t think it’s leaking water over here. You should go check somewhere else.

Chizuru: You’re...right....

(My original intention was just to come and see how Hijikata-san was after all. Just seeing him should have already satisfied me, but to be chased out the instant I stepped into his room left me feeling a little lonely.)

Chizuru: Um… I’m sorry for disturbing you.

Hijikata: Chizuru...

Just as I was ready to leave the room, he suddenly called out to me. When I turned back to ask him what for...

Hijikata: If you’re free, go make me a cup of tea. So happens that I want to drink your tea right now.

Chizuru: ...Okay! I’ll pour it for you!

Hijikata: No need to rush like that, it’s nothing urgent. I’ll be sitting here waiting for you, so make sure you pour a nice cup.

(Seeing my hurry to leave for the tea, Hijikata-san forced a smile.)

So it was weird seeing all the members in your house

And your younger (and still innocent) sister asking “onee-chan, is this what they call a harem”

Also feat. your father who’s lurking in the background threateningly

You manage to convince your family to let all of you stay downstairs in the basement

With the promise that Akashi would be guarding you

Your family knew him because of your position as Rakuzan’s manager, so they felt ok with leaving you in his care

But really, you knew that while these guys were idiots, they were harmless

And just like any other high-schoolers having a sleepover

One of the topics thats brought up for discussion is love and relationships

On one hand, you’ve got the duo that’s pretty eager to chime in about their preferences (Aomine and Kise)

You’ve got the ones that don’t seem to care much about the topic (Murasakibara and Kuroko)

The one who is emotionally constipated (Midorima)

You really can’t get a read on Akashi since he’s just…presiding over the discussion like a mediator

And then you’ve got the one person that’s just hungry and is asking for food/snacks (Kagami)

Speaking of snacks, Murasakibara has literally dumped what seems like a small mountain of snacks on the ground, and he was making his way through it in an alarmingly rapid pace

As the night goes on, it feels more and more like you’re trying to look after a bunch of children

Aomine and Kise are fighting, over something stupid that you can’t really understand

Midorima is being…Midorima

Kuroko is eating vanilla ice cream

Eventually you decide to put on a movie so everyone can settle down and be quiet for a bit

But that causes another fight over what movie to watch

Half the group wants to watch a horror movie-which you were NOT going to allow

Especially when you remind people of The Incident that occurred last time

A Disney marathon seems to be the least likely to cause issues so you get that started

You and Kise sing along to all the songs in the movie while getting Kuroko to take videos of the two of you

Midorima’s somehow gotten into an argument with Kagami about horoscopes and fortunes which you had Murasakibara break up by physically getting in between the two of them

Aomine’s digging through your bookshelf looking for any dirty mags

But instead stumbles across your stash of BL doujins and freaks out

And just like children, eventually they tire themselves out

And at the end of the night, you’re tucking them in before turning out the lights

There’s something heartwarming to see everyone hanging out together, so even with all the chaos that occurred, you think that it wasn’t so bad...and maybe, just maybe-they’d be able to convince you to have them over again

That has indeed been a concern of mine; that I’ve been too focused on keeping things separate, when they kinda aren’t anymore. I was worried that if connections were too obvious, readers would wonder why there are no hints at supernatural phenomenon in HtHaN - and now TA - since there are such things in HL. Perhaps those concerns were unfounded.

***Spoilers*** below the cut for those who haven’t read everything I’ve written and wish to do so spoiler-free.

As for those supernatural things, I doubt I will stop my current style of not using the girls’ names in those parts. I should hope everyone can figure out that the redhead, blue-haired girl and blonde are Riko, Yohane and Mari respectively. And that the creature with black fur is Phobetor. I’ve found the style to be a fun way for me to distinguish between reality as perceived by YohaRiko and Riko’s dreams or behind-the-scenes meddling by Mari.

Rereading one particular such meddling scene in HL, Not the Plan, I know that may have caused some confusion, mostly likely about the identity of Him or Her; I hope the identity of the orange-haired girl is at least obvious. Hopefully more will be made clear in future scenes, but I won’t be revealing a name for either Him or Her as they do not have one in canon material; yes, they exist in canon, though probably not in the form I’ve given them for my fic. But the girls of Guilty Kiss aren’t angels in canon either, so there’s that. Anyway, upon writing this, I realize they do actually have a family name at least, Ohara. So there are some of the potential spoilers for you.

I don’t think I will name NicoMaki as the prior tenants of YohaRiko’s apartment, at least not in the single scene where they’ve been referenced thus far. I see little reason for the landlord to drop the names of prior tenants in that particular setting. I do reckon YohaRiko will figure things out eventually, especially if I end up expanding on VNVdarkangel’s idea of having Riko do some contract composing work for Egao, as well as my own link where Nico commissions Riko to draw the HtHaM doujin after getting hooked on the HL(AU) doujin she was already posting online.

And on the topic of the doujins, I probably could make it clear that Setsuna is also an avid fan of the HL(AU) series and gets both Yuu and Ayumu reading it as well. I’m pretty sure I have the timelines properly aligned such that Riko would have given into Yohane’s suggestion to publish physical copies of the work by the time YuuAyuSetsu are in their 2nd year of high school. If not I may need to make some adjustments, and that’s a whole other project.

And on the topic of TA, I could probably clear up that the agency that employs Yuu, Setsuna and Emma - and likely Kasumi later - is indeed Egao Jōshō, the idol production company started by Nico and Tsubasa. It’s one of my favorite creations for my fics’ universe and one I like coming back to regularly to develop. I’m still working on ideas for how they all end up there, so there are no spoilers to be made there just yet.

Also, the company from which Ruby and Leah borrow portable karaoke equipment is also Egao. I’ve been thinking about a HL Side Story to launch their careers as professional idols for a while and one of the topics I would want to cover is how they come across the fledgling production company. But they have signed on with them by the time Yohane is celebrating her first birthday in college. I may have misaligned my fic calendar with our own when it comes to where Friday the 13th falls, but I guess I’ll just have to author fiat the dates to work. Que zura zura.

I think those are all the connections I’ve made thus far. If not, I can always come back and add stuff. And if anyone reading this can think of other connections they believe to exist or want to inquire about, feel free to reach out to me. But I’ve plenty more waiting in my Notes and WIP Warehouse that I hope to get to someday. VNVdarkangel may have made a couple more in their ficeptional works, but I’m woefully behind in my reading so I cannot say for sure. But at least everyone is named outright in those works, or at least they were in the scenes I’ve read.

Anyway, the individuals with whom I’ve spoken thus far seem to be in agreement that it would be easier for readers to understand if I just name names in my intended crossover arc, so I will do just that. I still want to keep things as standalone as possible, so for anyone reading the entire arc across all three fics, there will probably be a ton of redundancy as details are revealed, though through the eyes of the main pair or trio of the respective fic.

As for going back and making things more clear in scenes I’ve already posted, I will add that to my growing list of retcons and other changes I need to get around to making someday. I’ll probably end up with a masterpost for each fic to designate all of the changes and retcons made, much like the List of Scenes I already have for them here.

                                 Botan, Girls-Only* Meeting

As you can tell, this reader insert is more of the "hanging out with friends" than the romantic date ones. I'm curious why you don't get to go out with Botan (coz I think she's cute and she'd be LOVELY to have a date with) but I'm not surprised with who Botan's love interest is in this. Mainly because, in Japan, there's actually a pretty huge following for Kurama x Botan to the point where there's active fanartists AND doujinshi goods being produced. Just yesterday on Japanese Twitter, I saw a few advertisements for Kurama x Botan doujinshi.

But it's sort of obvious from this story that it's one sided (especially considering all the other Kurama stories are reader inserts), so in that way it's somewhat unrequited/angsty. However, for you Kurama x Botan fans, this is a nice treat!

One of Kurama's stories should be up soon, so for those who have been waiting, it's going to be good! The Kurama story is Kei's (@iwroteyoualoveletter) favorite and I do enjoy it too. Simple and sweet.

I hope y'all enjoyed this even if it’s just hanging out with friends!

*Also, to all the readers who are not women, I apologize for the title but that's how it translated as. Can't really change that, though the title of this story isn't really too important considering it's just friends hanging out with each other and catching up. Perhaps a good alternate title could be Friends-Only Meeting? (Though that really just gives me livejournal vibes LMAO) I hope that's satisfactory. Don't want anyone to feel misgendered.

CYBERATTACK MASTERPOST

💣 Overview 💣

In 1999, the Y2K scare was in full swing. Everyone was terrified that with the new millennium, everything with an internal clock would malfunction and the ensuing panic would cause society to collapse. 

That happened, but it was much worse than what everyone imagined...

Computers failed once it hit midnight on January 1st, 2000. This included things like nuclear weapon monitoring systems, which launched bombs that didn’t leave a single country untouched. In Japan, only about less than half the population was able to make it into shelters. 

In early 2001, despite the remainder of the Japanese government having a somewhat steady hold on everything, a lot of gangs were already banding together. They killed the Prime Minister and completely took over the country. Lots of death and violence and chaos ensued. Once everything settled, the eight most powerful gangs rose to occupy each of the either regions, and everyone began to rebuild. 

The current year is 2055, and Japan is in danger of being completely taken over by a tyrannical gang from Tokyo...

🏮 Gangs 🏮

Rotten Revolution is the gang in charge of Kansai. They’re based in Osaka, operating out of an arcade called High-Tech Junkyard. Soon after they took over Kansai, Denko Sekiguchi (one of only two members at the time) made enemies with the biggest gang on Honshu when she bombarded their servers with DDoS attacks. That gang, The Heartbreakers, was left with dead servers and suffered heavy losses; mainly gang members, money, and other resources. Meanwhile, Rotten Revolution is thriving. They are generally liked by the inhabitants of Kansai, and they are actively trying to make life better for those who live in the wastelands outside Osaka.

The Heartbreakers are in charge of the Kanto region, based in Tokyo. They operate out of a dark industrial warehouse that was used by a corporation to store power tools before the bombs dropped. The region is nearly a military state, especially under the new leadership of Ren Honegumi. The youngest gang leader in Tokyo’s history, Ren murdered the previous gang’s leader before taking the crown for himself. Now they have a vice grip on Kanto, easily crushing any smaller gangs under their boots. They hope to expand their harsh control to the rest of the country.

👑Oniku Umehara🍖 

Oniku is the leader of Rotten Revolution. She’s pretty mysterious, and she often makes decisions based on what will result in something interesting, violent, or just fun. She hates getting her hands dirty, so she gets Denko to do all the fucked up things instead. She seems to have a backup plan for everything, and she never seems angry or upset. She has a collection of gold-plated guns.

🍑Denko Sekiguchi⚡

Denko is a mechanic for Rotten Revolution, and she’s also pretty good with computers. She builds her own cybernetics and sells them. They’re cool; she can remotely override control and make them do freaky shit. Also, her parents died five years ago because their cyberbrain servers crashed and she’s pretty damn sure it wasn’t an accident.

💾Dokuro Satou💀

Dokuro collapsed on the doorstep of Rotten Revolution’s arcade one day, and Oniku convinced her to join. She works as a hacker and programmer for the gang. I haven’t developed her enough, but she’s shifty and anxious to the point some people think she’s hiding something.

🍣Hamachi Onoda🔪

Hamachi is a scout for Rotten Revolution. Her family has owned the same sushi shop for generations, even through the near-apocalypse, and she is violently passionate about traditional Japanese cooking. Her cooking knives double as murder knives.

🐇Aika Goshima🍰

Aika is not technically part of Rotten Revolution, and she’s not interested in joining, but she provides enough weapons for them and she’s so loyal that they treat her as part of the gang anyway. She even lives with them above the arcade! She mostly deals in heavy weapons, but she’s not strong enough to wield most of them and that makes her sad. She wants to use a minigun.

💔Ren Honegumi💫

Ren is the leader of the Heartbreakers and he is not nice. He’s the most dangerous fuckboy you’ll ever meet. Seriously. His gang is called the Heartbreakers because he didn’t get very far romantically when he was younger, or ever. He’s intimidating, arrogant, and absolutely merciless. He does have a soft spot for shoujo anime, and his favorite one is Urusei Yatsura. Lum is his girlfriend.

🍮Shuichi Kurosawa👾

Shuichi is a member of the Heartbreakers, and his job consists of running around, finding information, and reporting everything to Ren. He’s a soft boy but he needs more character development.

💉Hitsugi Gozou💊

Hitsugi is the Heartbreakers’ medic. She’s really bad at remembering to use anesthetic, even when treating fellow gang members. She also needs more character development.

🌧️Kaiko Matsunaga🐛

Kaiko is similar to Aika in that she’s not really a member of the Heartbreakers, but she helps them enough that she counts anyway. She’s an info broker and hacker. As far as everyone goes, she’s the newest character so she definitely needs development too.

🗾 Regions 🗾

Hokkaido is the northernmost region (and also island!), and its capital city is Sapporo. Notable for its cold weather, it is the fourth most populous region. Their gang activity isn’t exactly cut off from Honshu (the main island), but they have separated themselves from most of the conflict. 

Tohoku is a relatively remote region. It is the seventh most populous region, making it second to last, and its capital city is Sendai. The southern half of the region has been claimed by the Heartbreakers.  

Kanto is Heartbreakers territory, and the most populous region. The capital city is Tokyo, which is notable for how quickly it rebuilt after the bombs. Despite the city’s advanced development, the surrounding wastelands receive no help from the Heartbreakers. The southern border (Kanto-Chubu) is heavily guarded, while the northern border (Kanto-Tohoku) is more lax.

Chubu is not a fun region to be in, as it is right in the middle of the conflict between Kanto and Kansai. Its capital city is Nagoya, and it is the third most populous region. Like Tohoku, a portion of it has been claimed by the Heartbreakers, who are fighting to get even more of the region.

Kansai is home to Rotten Revolution. It is the second most populous region, and the capital city is Osaka. The wastelands surrounding Osaka are in much better shape than the Kanto wastelands, but the city is still a preferable place to live. They are less concerned with taking territory than they are with keeping the Heartbreakers from conquering Japan.

Chugoku is the region at the tail end of the main island, Honshu. It is the sixth most populous region, and its capital city is Hiroshima. Rotten Revolution is considering reaching out to their gang to make an alliance. 

Shikoku is like Hokkaido in that it is both a region and an island. It is the least populous, and its capital is Matsuyama. Despite the lack of any connecting land, they are still involved with most of the conflict on Honshu.

Kyushu is the southwestern most region/island, and its capital city is Fukuoka. It is the fifth most populous region, and the most removed from the conflict on Honshu.

⛩️ Miscellaneous ⛩️

There are only eight leading gangs, but there are hundreds of smaller gangs spread throughout the wastelands. Occasionally small gangs will crop up in the capital cities, but depending on the region the leading gang will assume they are trying to take over. 

Every leading gang has a unique uniform. The color scheme is primarily dark; blacks, navy blues, and greens are common. There is also a civilian uniform for those living in the capital cities, but it is not required to wear except in schools. The civilian uniform is the same as the leading gang’s uniform, except the shirt or jacket is white. 

Bicycles and motorcycles are the most efficient ways to get around. Other than that, you’ll have to walk. It sucks to travel, especially outside of your region. Traveling to and from cities is a big deal and not commonly done. There are no cars or trains.

The wastelands are generally not a fun place to be. In the cities, housing and other resources are generally nice and there is access to the region’s gang-run network, like tokyoNET and osakaNET. In the wastelands, there is no network access, and people are left to their own devices.

The currency is called ZENI, stylized in all caps because it looks cool. It is completely electronic, and can be accessed via any device that connects to the network. No one carries yen anymore, at least not to pay for things, because it isn’t actively being made. Outside the cities, where there isn’t a network or anything, people just trade. 

Traditional Japanese cultural practices, like Noh and Kabuki theater, shrines and Shinto religion, and tea ceremonies, are uncommon in the big cities. However, the further into the wastelands you go, the more of this you'll find. It’s not out of the ordinary to have a small gang operating out of an old temple. 

Media like books and movies stopped being professionally produced at the beginning of 2000 when the bombs dropped. However, mostly everything that existed before that still exists in Cyberattack, and there are small but prominent doujin circles who create their own media, whether it’s to provide an ending to an unfinished manga or produce an original film.
