dotti has the absolute best character introduction. the first time we see her she

is ambushed by people who want to rob her and instead of running she begins correcting their grammar

proceeds to fight them, and when they get the better of her and brocktree steps in and saves her she goes “you’ve got some nerve coming in here and fighting my battles for me”

then introduces herself as “dorothea duckfontein dillworthy”, messes up the name of salamandastron when she tries to say it, and immediately begins eating brocktree’s food

literally she’s a legend

Redwall Characters in Modern Work Environments

Okay but let's talk about Dorthea Duckfontein Dillworthy or Dotti. Who is one of the best examples of how to write a badass complex female character, and how to have male characters behave towards said character.

When she and Brocktree meet, she's being attacked by vermin, but Brock does not immediately intervene bc she's beating the absolute snot out of them.

Not until she's actually in real danger

Is whitty, upbeat, and intelligent

When faced with Bucko Bigbones for being a sexist ass and refusing to fight her cause she's a girl she calls him out

And then beats him at his own game spectacularly

When she does beat him, he doesnt whine about being beaten by a girl, no her recognizes that he was wrong and respects the shit out of her.

Brock's faith in her throughout the contest

She's allowed to cry without being seen as weak

She's shown as constantly hungry

Becomes the first general of the Long Patrol
