Nemesis Coffee, 302 W Hastings St, Vancouver (Gastown), BC V6B 2N4, Canada
Tumblr media
I could see myself as a regular at Nemesis Coffee. The coffee, food, and pastries are fantastic. The service is also exceptional.
They roast their own coffee beans and have their own bakehouse called Dope. The pastries are gigantic and look appealing: cruffins, cookies, croissants, Danish, pull-apart bread, etc. On the food menu you’ll find a breakfast sando, French toast, muesli, hash, avocado toast, heirloom tomato toast, and sandwiches. For drinks, they have espresso drinks, pour over coffee, batch brew, and tea lattes. They had two options for pour over coffee.
Avocado toast ($14.50 CAD) with seasoned chickpeas and frisee: very tasty, thin slice of good chewy artisan bread, smashed avocado, spiced chickpeas, frisee. Fresh, bright, spicy flavors.
Flat white ($5.25 CAD), whole milk: Nonfat or lowfat milk wasn’t offered. The flat white was very good, stronger but not bitter
Jhon Alvarado pourover ($5.50 CAD): Mr. Froyo liked it better than the pour over from Revolver down the street though he preferred the pour over from Oide
I loved the space. It’s across from the park with big windows on two sides. You can see the park and Hastings St. They also have an outdoor patio area in front. The counter area is huge but they do have a nice area for seating and lots of plants. It feels a bit like being in a greenhouse.
They find a table for you, bring over your food and drink, provide water without asking, check in on you, and clear your plates and cups.
Nemesis has three branches in Vancouver and I’m hoping that they continue to expand. You can also buy their coffee and have it shipped to you. Bags of coffee beans available for sale on site.

In this article Rose Love (@with.rose.love) shows us what’s new at Nemesis Cafe beside The Shipyards and Lonsdale Quay Market. Right across the street there will be a new museum opening sometime at the end of this year or into 2021 highlighting our local culture through various displays and education spaces.
Located on the bottom floor of The Polygon Art Gallery in North Vancouver, you can find a window with a blue upside down heart icon that looks like a spade,  this is where one of Vancouver’s most famous and popular coffee brands exists. With fresh roasted coffee daily and pastries and baked goods made in house. Unfortunately due to covid, they are currently doing take out only. But while you line up for their coffee or Dope Bakehouse pastries, you can take a peek through their large glass windows at their cozy high end soft wood Japanese inspired design, and a huge wall displaying signature vinyl records!

When you think of checking out great local and international works of art and expression, one of the best places to visit in North Vancouver is the Polygon Gallery in the Lower Lonsdale Shipyards District. Located right beside Lonsdale Quay and the new Shipyards development, the building has remarkable shapes and lines and sits prominently in the courtyard. The staggered arches on the rooftop are often photographed by content creators.
Out front of the gallery are some of the most ideal spots to capture Instagram photos and selfies, against the backdrop of the North Shore mountains and downtown Vancouver skyline. The sunset always happens behind the downtown core making it quite awesome here in ‘Lolo’ as we get to enjoy them daily.
The Polygon Gallery recently added a new tenant on the bottom floor of the building called Nemesis Coffee which also has a bakery called Dope Bakehouse, making in house pastries and delicacies that are delicious and high value. On top of being an art gallery it is also a private venue space often hosting galas and gatherings for the City of North Vancouver and North Van Chamber. Plus of course many weddings take place here.
