On The Clock (PT 2)
warnings: smut (18+), MDNI, handjobs, oral (m receiving), sexy times in baby, sam x f!reader
A/N: After a long wait, PT 2 is FINALLY OUT! I’m super excited for yall to read this. I apologize for not having posted anything new for a while. I have so many ideas and zero motivation. Anyways, enjoy! Feel free to check out part one.
It was a rather gloomy day is Sioux Falls. Y/N and Sam had just finished up a brief visit with Donna. The pair was getting some more info on a series of cough ‘animal attacks’. Throats ripped out and all. At first, it seemed like a simple vampire issue. But after some further research, Sam had come to the conclusion it wasn’t that simple. Nothing was ever that simple for hunters, especially the Winchesters.
Sam rested his fist against his temple, using his free hand to hold open a lore book. His foot occasionally tapping against the Impala’s floor. He was frustrated. He took up this case thinking it’d be a quickie. A filler case if you will. Y/N sat opposite of him in the passenger seat. A lore book laid open in her lap. She kept occasionally glancing over at Sam, practically feeling the frustration seeping out of him. A frustrated Sam Winchester was a rather rare sight. Y/N fought with herself internally as her eyes lingered on him. She debated on speaking up, to break the painful silence.
“Why don’t we take a break? We’ve been at this long enough.” Sam flipped the book in his lap shut, exhaling with a loud sigh. “Yeah, please. I just can’t seem to piece this together and it’s driving me crazy.” He ran a hand through his silken hair, glancing over to meet Y/N’s stare. This case had really taken a toll on all of them, but especially Sam. The gears witching Y/N’s pretty head began to turn. A sinister smirk ghosting her lips. She had an idea. A terrible one. Well, not terrible . It could just potentially blow up in her face and Sam would never speak to her again- but it was worth a try. Y/N slowly slid across the front bench seat of Baby. Sam gave her a strange look, his eyes searching her face. His stomach tightened as she licked her lips before speaking. The same lips that had once been on his very own. The lips he’d imagine wrapped around his cock at night.
“Look,” She started, speaking softly “I know this case has us all stumped, you especially. You’ve been sleeping less and barely eating- trying to get the ball rolling.” His expression softened. He never realized people could see right through him like that. He never realized she could. Her face slightly heated as they continued to stare at each other, saying nothing. “Let me help you relax.” She whispered, leaning forward to kiss his jawline. His stubble tickling her plush lips. His eyes fluttered shut as she began to kiss her way down his neck, gently pulling the collar of his flannel aside. Y/N smirked against his flesh, feeling a familiar warmth grow in her lower half.
The car felt as if it had become a hundred degrees warmer. Sam placed a bent finger under her chin, gently tipping her head up. He met her half way and captured her lips with his own. The first few kisses were sweet, until they weren’t. He had slightly turned, gaining better access to her lips. His hands rested on either side of her head. Without breaking the kiss, Y/N slid a hand down his torso- stopping at the buckle of his belt. Her eyes flicked open, waiting for him to give her the green light. Not saying anything, he dipped his head down to kiss her neck. A soft moan rolled off her lips as he gently kissed and sucked on the flesh of her neck. Her hands fumbled with his belt , his cock already straining against his jeans. His hand slid up her side, pausing to massage her breast. His fingers toying with her pebbled nipple over her shirt. A breath slightly hitched in her throat. Getting intimate with Sam Winchester had two possible turnouts. One, he’d make love to you all night long. Orgasm after orgasm. Or two, he could fuck you until the only thing that could leave your mouth was his name.
Y/N gently gripped his wrist, pulling away from the kiss. “As much as I enjoyed that- this is about you. I want you to relax, okay? So just sit back and let me do all the work. Please.” His cock fucking twitched. She didn’t even have to touch him and he could be a mess. He could come from just her words alone. “Alright.” He gave her a small smile before leaning back in to kiss her. Y/N busied her hands, quickly sliding his cock past the waistband of his boxers. He lifted his butt off of the leather seat, sliding his bottoms down. Dean would kill them both if there was an ass print or a mess left behind in his baby. Her mouth and pussy watered at the sight of his cock. It was rather large, with some definite girth to it. His tip was red and angry, already leaking pre come. Y/N adjusted herself. She was now lying on her stomach across the front seat, with her head perfectly positioned over Sam’s lap. Her hand came up to rest at the base of his shaft as she slowly slid his cock into her mouth. Sam cursed under his breath, gently holding her hair back. She slightly bobbed her head, using her hand to pump whatever didn’t fit in her mouth. His cock was rock hard in her mouth. Her tongue occasionally swiping over his tip, causing him to shiver. If she kept this up- he wasn’t going to last long. She pulled her mouth off of his cock with an audible ‘pop’. Her hand still pumping his cock at a moderate pace. “Perfect fucking dick..” She mumbled, tilting her head back to gaze up at him. He was practically melting into the leather seats. His hair fallen slightly in his face, his brows furrowed with pleasure. “Please,” He practically begged “ Your mouth feels fucking amazing. Don’t stop.” A smirk played on her lips momentarily before she lowered her lips to his cock once more. This time, she fully took him in her mouth. His tip occasionally tickling the back of her throat. Sam let his head fall back, a moan slipping past his lips wantonly. “Fuck yeah..” He mumbled under his breath, only fuelling her desire even more. Her head began to move faster. “I’m gonna come.” He announced, snapping his head back forward to watch her take his cock. His breathing grew heavy, which then turned into moans. He moaned loudly as he spurted his come down the back of her throat. She swallowed it, looking up at him with a smile on her face.
The pair had sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes as Sam tried to recover from his orgasm. “That was incredible, but-“ “Don’t tell Dean we fooled around in Baby.” Y/N interjected. “I know. After all, this isn’t our first rodeo.” She winked, causing him to shake his head. A shit eating grin was plastered across his face as they drove back to the bunker.

Resident Lover (spoilers)
i've found all 10 secrets and completed all endings (i think). admittedly, i skipped a lot of dialogue for this. anyway, i've restarted the game to get all good endings and this is my intended order: donna, miranda, bela, angie, alci, dani, cass. i am currently on bela.
something i've noticed this second playthrough is donna seems to have a memory?? when i visited her shop in miranda and bela's routes, she always blushed , which was something she never did in my first playthrough (i didn't save her good ending.) it's like she remembers we were in love before. i'm assuming this was intentional, but now it makes me curious if any other characters have 'memory' like hers. miranda doesn't seem to have one since she's pretty neutral when i visit her in bela's route.
lore-wise, i understand donna having 'memory'. somehow she's vital to miranda's plan and miranda seems to go easier on her than the others and keeps her around w/out refreshing her mind. im interested in why miranda doesn't seem to remember or indicate any feelings toward m/c. keeping face ? maybe she knows this m/c is not hers ? but that would be the same case for donna. either way idk, but it's very intriguing !
if anyone who has played wants to discuss, pls comment or dm !
#resident lover#re8 village#re8#alcina dimitrescu#mother miranda#cassandra dimitrescu#daniela dimitrescu#angie beneviento#donna beneviento#wlw#lesbian#guys i'm so in love with mother miranda it's not even funny anymore

the moment of truth is upon us
genshin strange variant lore
I will talk about how he got his Vision and how I obliterated his hopes and dreams in just 2 minutes
• Electro Vision
if you get an electro vision it means the archons/gods saw you being beat up by the world and fate itself and gave you a cool purple rock
• Sufian Strange got his Electro Vision in Mondstadt. what was this guy doing in mondstadt?? family bonding (trip with the familyy)
do i dare say how i took out his family members one by one (no)
• His younger sister, Dhiyaa (donna variant, u get it), drowned, and upon Strange failing to save her, he received an Electro Vision ["sorry :("]
• Having gotten his Electro Vision under those circumstances he felt a little bit of resentment towards The Seven Archons during that time, in his guilt and denial he thought that if he had gotten a Dendro Vision he could have saved his sister
For a while he rejected his Vision, it being a constant reminder of what he lost and failed to save, and the embodiment of his own major failure
• With time, he healed and accepted a Dendro Vision could not have saved Dhiyaa, but you know how that goes, you still subconsciously cling to the denial and hope ((delusion)) of the past
and you know where I'm leading to with that
• Dendro Delusion
Delusions are Vision-like objects produced by the Fatui, they're more powerful than Visions and they drain/backfire on the user
basically diy visions
• Some time after becoming a sorcerer, Sufian decided to search for a Dendro Delusion (yikess)
reason??
-> Between Dhiyaa's death and Strange becoming a Sorcerer, he started research on tampering with life and death ((at this point fate got a kill streak with his whole family - parents, both of his siblings, everyone)) and you know how he was an Akademiya scholar
emphasis on "was"
yeah researching that topic isn't allowed in Akademiya and it can grant you a very very long holiday
he got expelled (yikesss²)
-> and you know how the Dendro element embodies life and how Delusions are stronger than Visions
• Delusion usage can have silly cool awesome side effects!! (yikessss³) he may look like he hasn't slept in 27 years but now he has a super awesome third eye, cooler ears, fangs, gradient on fingers, and more!!
(because dendro embodies life and nature, the dendro delusion altered his physical appearance, u get me. u get m)
ending this post with a bang, look at what Strange got from his sister❤️❤️
i control the speed at which my happiness dies
thank you for reading dont forget to like and subscribe and hit the bell button
#made a draft at 4 AM just for me to not like how it turned out so i rewrote the whole post#the one that stands here before thee#dr strange#stephen strange#marvel#genshin impact#marvel au#marvel impact

[ *DASH : SPELL OUT YOUR URL USING SONG TITLES. THEN, TAG AS MANY PEOPLE AS THERE ARE LETTERS IN YOUR URL. ]
( i knew i was going to regret that long ass url. )
F: Flashing Mark II · Kei Wakakusa / it isn't cheating i'm just smart like that + i think the song i got my url from DESERVES to be mentioned. L: Laughter In The Rain · Neil Sedaka / IT ISN'T CHEATING I'M JUST SM - okay but, Neil Sedaka is a must on my Mel playlists. A: Academic · New Order / new order is also a must, especially for Araceae, i go straight to new order whenever i need my 00 muse boost. S: Starlight Serenade · Mami Yamase / i have used this one for Mel aesthetics here, i really like the lyrics and i feel like they're very her. ♡ H: Heavens Divide · Donna Burke / i could cop out of explaining by saying that donna burke sang a couple of songs that are in turn a gundam but also the lyrics from most mgs songs just fit perfectly. I: I'm Humanity · Etsuko Yakushimaru / it reminds me of newtypes !! N: Nothing Ever Goes As Planned · Styx / self explanatory. also fits the lore! G: Giniro Horizon · Satomi Nakase / come on man, it's GUNDAM X'S ENDING. i had to. M: My Boyfriend Is A Pilot · Mari Iijima / no further explanation is needed your honor. A: Ash Like Snow · the brilliant green / if i don't add this one i won't be able to sleep peacefully. i'm also attaching the official mv because it genuinely looks like a shitpost. i'm so sorry. i love it. R: Resistance · Muse / another source of inspiration for gundam muse in general ! K: Keep Quiet · The Protomen / what can i say other than Mel wouldn't exist without the protomen. I: Izolado (Isolation) · Sheryl Nome starring May'n / depending on which Mel you talk to she's either actually befriended Sheryl Nome or really likes her music. I: Itsumo Anata Ga· TETSU / besides the fact that i really like votoms, it's the series from which i draw the most inspiration from whenever it comes to writing ptsd and romance during war times, besides it's also a very Mel core song.

damijon, timsteph, dickroy and rosecassie (as in wondergirl lol <3) for the ship bingo xoxo
OUSGISSHJ i could write literal essays abt each one of these
1)
okay so i have very mixed emotions about this one, bc on one hand i feel like in main continuity it wouldn't work out, but maybe in like an elseworlds thing it could??? but im also very much a fan of them not being romantic but not also being traditionally platonic so i just settle for calling them "a secret, more sinister third thing". also they're both trans. so like. t4t best friendship that only they (and me) really #Get. i just have so many complicated feelings about their lore and friendship and how damian's friendships are so inherently complex because of how he operates on a personal level and jon simply understanding and not needing damian to change a thing, they're just so content existing w each other and within each others spaces. i very much appreciate how even after all the change they've gone thru they're still close and care about each other, and i am also a massive fan of them both getting along with each others People
2)
OH LORD OK TIMSTEPH OK i don't think ive ever actually talked abt them before, but i should. they're t4t bi4bi most definitely. i actually did enjoy their relationship to an extent while they were dating but it wasn't entirely my cup of tea bc i tend to ship them w other people but the appeal was definitely there, like it was clear how much they cared for each other, its cute and its there and i can get behind it. i do actually prefer their dynamic as exes because of how rare it is to see m/f friendships without ulterior motives on either part, ESPECIALLY if the characters in question are exes, so it's actually refreshing to see them still have a caring dynamic without secretly being hung up on each other. i also think tim's regret over ending it the way he did was nice to see, because while it wasn't out of character to ghost her it also wasn't out of character for him to look back and realize "i could/should have handled that better" so i feel like it does well to convey how he does actually still love her even if not romantically anymore
3)
H. HHHH. SHAKES THEM
i feel like their dynamic in preboot comics is a hell of a lot better than anything the new 52 or rebirth had to offer. i miss when roy and donna were dick's best friends honestly. i feel like their relationship was sidelined a lot in favor of jason and roy and dick and wally which sucks because??? they were fine as they were?? they've got a lot of love and care for each other, especially in the 80s and 90s comics, they're always complimenting each other and telling each other how well they're doing but they're also not afraid to call each other out if one of them does some stupid shit, i think thats good for both of them. i also think roy's relationship w the bats would be funny, as well as dick's relationship with the arrows. they've both got similar family dynamics but also very different in a loooot of ways
4) NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT THIS SHIP SO *IM* GOING TO
i literally can't get over their rivalry, like they hated each other so much but also there was just something so unexplainable about them to me??? like idk i just always loved how they interacted even when they were arguing and fighting. i just KNOW if dc let cassie be butch in the 00s during the peak of their rivalry they would have kissed. i feel it in my bones. it's also nice to see since they've both got more complex relationships w the people around them it would be nice to see them sorta bounce off of each other in the respect that they've got a lot going on and they know how the other feels so they bond over the struggles of navigating relationships and friendships and just life in general. i also think it'd be funny to watch diana smack slade for saying smthn out of pocket at like an in laws family dinner or some other gathering but thats mostly just bc i think slade should be smacked in general
#OUDGSISHSU ty for the ask cas im sorry i just dumped all my thoughts abt these guys 😭 <333#kory answers#also a very important note that my mom threw a marshmallow at me while i was ranting abt rosecassie#also if you ever feel like talking ships esp rosecassie dont be afraid to dm me i love dumping about these guys

2k hits Boys! Thank you so much for the love. I love you all and love how busy this story has kept me. So much good stuff to come... If you're looking for a void filler that respects the games lore and also builds a colorful portrait of what scraps we got, MIGHT I SUGGEST IT

Winters and the Beast
averysexyleon (silusaugustus)
Summary:
Two months have passed since Chris Redfield destroyed the village. In those two months, Karl Heisenberg mysteriously resurrected Ethan and stole his daughter for him. Miranda is a lingering threat, Eveline holds on to her hatred, as Ethan comes into his power. It's a Beauty and the Beast version of Karl and Ethan's relationship the second time they are around. Both men learn more about the Mold, as well as the meaning of love after death. Expect fluff, smut, slow burn, action, adventure, horror, mystery and more.

you rbed it like hours ago but i want to send an ask anyway for the fandom blorbo terms thing do doctor who rn
doctor who is the best show ever and i say that with a lot of things but with doctor who i mean it with my whole chest it’s incredible why doesn’t everyone watch it
blorbo (fave) i mean……….. probably the doctor……. although there are also several companions who occupy my every waking thought…. jamie, ace, donna… hard to choose one person <3
skrunkly (baby) UHHHHHHH. Uhm m mmm. K9, I guess. He’s literally just robot puppy and he’s trying so hard. Sometimes he’s MEAN! He shoots lasers
scrimblo bimblo (underappreciated fave) i exist in such specific and me-oriented circles of doctor who fandom that i dont even know whos underappreciated. I see people who talk about characters like jamie and ace a lot, but that’s…. because i followed people who post about jamie and ace. who doesn’t get enough appreciation…… you can argue that for a lot of characters, tbh, and other people would argue those characters are plenty appreciated. I guess Martha, probably. Martha’s good, and I like her, and she got done dirty by the Doctor, and a bit by the show, and probably by some fans too. Oh! And Nardole!
glup shitto (obscure fave) CHARLEY POLLARD <3 She’s not THAT obscure, but like, she’s not THAT obscure in the same way I go “I really haven’t seen that much Doctor Who, I don’t know all that lore and characters people are talking about!” and then I’ve seen 30-40 seasons of television including the episodes they had to reconstruct from shitty audio and still screencaps because the originals got stolen and listened to hours worth of audio plays, but like, i haven’t read ANY books so I may as well know NOTHING. Anyway any of my Classic Who Blorbos would probably apply in the greater scheme of things because there probably ARE fans who haven’t watched….. hours and hours of 60s-70s-80s television …. but im sayin Charley. She’s from the big finish audio dramas and she’s my everything my silly little rabbit and I can’t wait to someday actually…. HEAR all of her dramas and know uh. What the fuck happens to her. Does she die? She’s extremely fated to die, but maybe she doesn’t, I don’t know.
poor little meow meow (pathetic/problematic fave) Uh. Yeah the Master i guess. They have every problem and they fuck shit up for the self and then they go to the doctor looking like a sad wet cat and go oh please please don’t let me die as a consequence of my own actions. Sometimes they die sometimes they don’t. Also Rose?? Rose is great and Rose makes reckless selfish decisions and she’s wonderful.
horse plinko (little friend to torture for lols) can i say the Doctor again? The torment is unending so I may as well have fun with it
eeby deeby (get superhell’d) DEFINITELY ALSO the doctor. ESPECIALLY ten. They’re just so. A little fucking bitch sometimes. This is why they literally NEED someone around to keep them in line. Otherwise they just like. On their own they might have fun but they also might spiral into depression and commit incredible atrocities that they’d irrevocably hate anyone else for committing. It depends on the mood. The vibe.

I'm probably going to get back into writing again soon, but the posts won't be until Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Unless I get my internet back on.
So send in requests if you want. Basically I'll do any fandom requests.
I won't write for specific characters – but I'll let you know if I won't do your request because of a specific character). I also don't feel comfortable writing specific characters as bottoms or tops of I personally can't see them as a bottom/top – this is not to be judgey your request, but if I can't see those characters as bottoms/tops, I won't physically be able to write them well in that position and all of my requesters deserve a well-written story.
I am working on a lot right now, both writing and personal life wise, but I will most likely do the requests as they come in and post them as soon as I can.
Current fandoms I currently have inspiration for (this is not to stop anyone fr requesting a story for any fandoms outside of these, these fandoms are just the ones I currently have an urge to write for and/or have ideas for):
– Skyrim
– Fallout
– FFXV (the one with Noctis and his friend for anyone like me who can't remember which game is which based off the title)
– The Addams Family (could be literally any of them, including the new Netflix series Wednesday)
– Hotel Transylvania (or literally any vampire movie/tv show that has Dracula in it)
– The Owl House (I haven't actually watched this, but I've seen a lot of clips on YouTube and have decided I need to at least check it out. Plus the palismans are cute af.)
– Any video game Markiplier or Jacksepticeye have played.
– FNAF Security Breach; Yes, I'm being very specific with this one because I am a Monty simp (I also like this specific fanart of Music Man. Also Sun and Moon are cute in like, a little sibling way).
– Blade (the vampire series with Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds – although Ryan Reynolds was only in one of the blade movies)
– Underworld (the vampire movie series with Kate Beckingsale – I think that's her name)
– Queen of the Damned (specifically)
– Monster High (kinda obsessed with the new one because it has more lore – the series not the live action movie)
– Cyberpunk 2077 (I will literally write a story with OCs only, as long as it's set in the Cyberpunk 2077 world – doesn't even have to be in the same year or state)
– Stranger Things (please. For all that is unholy. Request some trans! reader/OC x Eddie Munson/Billy Hargrove. I'll actually write any character as long as the request has a trans reader or trans OC – not enough trans reader stories out there)
– Dark Hunter (Sherrilyn Kenyon novels. Please note they are for mature readers only, as they do contain sex scenes, so if you're under 18 and go to read her novels, ask a parent or at least let them know it's a rated M book)
– Zodiac Academy (having a hard fucking time find any of the books after volume 1 at my local libraries 😤)
– The Walking Dead (I don't actually know much about this series, but that's what resources like Wiki and actual fans are for! I'd watch the show, but I have plans to binge it with @joelsgeetar at some point).
– Resident Evil (both the movies and the games – someone request RE:8 stories about Lady Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, Donna and Moreau)
– X-Men
– Marvel
– DC (I have this story idea where Jason unknowingly starts dating the son of Death, because irony~🎶!)
– Hazbin Hotel
– Helluva Boss
Aaaand I think that's it. For now.

Actually, you know what, here. Here's what I love about every single villager. Not doing the main characters aside from Flint because this is STRICTLY about the NPCs for me. From left side of Tazmily to the right:
Nana: I love her design and how she's always a huge outsider in Tazmily, yet it doesn't seem to phase her. She just keeps being herself unabashedly and I love that. I love her bond with Lucas, it's endearing as hell. I love how she notices the strange, little things like Tanetane and how none of the villagers resemble each other. Such a cool little character.
Bob: love how violently and unintentionally autistic-coded he is. Like this isn't me saying all my faves are autistic if you talk to this guy I feel like it's obvious he has autism considering the shit he says. I love that he talks about peaches in multiple chapters because he loves them so much and I love that he's interested in Tazmily mysteries and I love that he's always at the Yado bar and I love that he's always smiling!!!!
Donna: I love that she's another character with depression because it really fleshes out how Tazmily wasn't a utopia to start with. People were still unhappy and finding things lacking in their lives. I love that she loves art! I love that she wants more from life!
Jonel: I love that he's so self-centered! It makes a really interesting dynamic with him and the other characters. He gets worse and worse over time and I love how even his son Bob gets annoyed over the self-centered behavior. I love that he's obsessed with forest gods and the Prayer Sanctuary because it adds lore and depth to Tazmily and the story.
Brenda: I love her design and that's she's fat. She has such an endearing design, she looks so friendly, but I love that one of the sweeter characters become kind of cruel after the timeskip. I love that she, Lisa, and Jill are all besties.
Bateau: I love that Bateau does woodcarving! I think that's a really fun detail to add to him beyond him being the post office guy. I also love that he keeps all the messenger doves in his house until the timeskip, and I'm sad they're gone afterwards.
Reggie: I LOVE the Talking Bones NPC outside his house a lot because it's not the only one, showing that on Nowhere, even the dead remain alive in some ways. I can't actually say anything positive about Reggie, but I do think his presence is incredibly interesting when you look at it as a deliberate choice among the White Ship people, reinforcing racial stereotypes of Natives in their little Western story. I made a post about that elsewhere so I'll spare you.
Caroline: I love that she stays sweet the entire time with Tazmily, even when she decides to get modern with everyone else. She has a great design as well. I love that she has little models of bread and eggs in her house before the timeskip. She really loves baking!
Angie: I love that she says potato-like men are her type, and I like that she goes between bitching about Fuel and maybe having a crush on him. (Sorry, I actually don't have much to say about the kids, like, ever)
Paul: I love that he loves his wife so much! He is so passionate about his wife and his only complaint post-timeskip is they don't spend time together anymore because of her job at the old folks' home. I love that he is such a prolific wife lover that he and Linda have a scrapped sprite of them kissing. I love that he seems to have sensory issues, or at least is very sensitive to certain things. I love that he's helpful to Lucas and minds his own business.
Linda: I love that she seems so level-headed and kind. She has some of the fewest lines among the villagers for whatever reason and it breaks my heart. I love that she's the first person to notice that Fassad might not be great for people like Isaac, warning Fassad not to put any weird ideas in Isaac's head once she notices Isaac is already becoming extremely attached to Fassad because of the Happy Box. I love that she seems so smart and I love that she likes pink so much that she wears pink and Paul and her decorate their pre-timeskip house with pink!
Abbot: I love how him and Abbey collect and tend to plants pre-timeskip! I love that he's a collector of things, probably tying into part of his passion with the plants! I love how he's a little arrogant, I love that he's a little rude but not necessarily intentionally. I love his design, it's one of the best character designs in the entire game. I love that he hates his mining job, showing that villagers aren't actually all that happy with the new world and are using materialism to escape it!
Abbey: I love how sweet she is and how much she loves her husband! I love her enthusiasm for things, being the first to put her hand up for a Happy Box, being excited about these material things, but it showing that her life is empty because women don't have traditional access to the jobs and community in post-timeskip Tazmily, though the men aren't very happy either. I love that she constantly echoes Abbot with her lines in post-timeskip, or that she seems to have a shortened attention span after a while! I love that she wants to go anywhere and everywhere with Abbot! I love her talk sprite, it's one of the best in the game!
Pusher: I love that Pusher is an asshole! I love that Tazmily is filled with people of all varieties instead of everyone being super nice all the time to start with. I love how arrogant he is, how slimy, how much he wants to get in the good graces of people that he'll grovel to anyone he thinks could give him a little more power. I love that he grows to hate Tazmily and wants to leave it. I love that he never thinks of anyone but himself.
Elmore: I love that Elmore grows to be a crueler and crueler person over the course of the timeskip! While she was always kind of cold and arrogant, I love that she showed an ability to be compassionate to Flint and affectionate to Duster! I love that she has that depth, but then gets sucked into the same hateful vortex as Pusher and some of the others. I love that the only time she ever mentions her son Ollie is to discuss how they can use him to get ahead in the political world in New Pork.
Ollie: I love how severely depressed Ollie is, another character showing how unhappy the post-timeskip world can be! I love that they try to keep upbeat despite that, even though their depression is not getting better. But I also love that Ollie never stops being kind, that even despite the unhappiness Ollie still treats Lucas with kindness and respect, and never has a bad thing to say about anybody, including Ionia!
Sebastian: I love how he decides to ditch Pusher's family once they all go to New Pork because he's found a better job. It's so fun after he spent the whole game rushing and worrying about the affairs of this rich family and how he clearly kinda doesn't like it and wants out. I love that he considers himself unimportant when really, it's only because he's MADE himself unimportant. But he's important to me!
Mapson: I love that he seems to live with Pusher's family for some reason? It's so random! Maybe he and Pusher are friends! Who knows! I also love his passion for maps, but also that he wants to be known for things other than his love of maps so he starts talking about how bald Wess is because gossip is a famous Tazmily pastime lol.
Bronson: I love that he's such a great friend to Flint even with how distant they become over the course of the timeskip! I love that he's got an upbeat attitude and he loves his life, but that he doesn't look down on anybody for living differently than him. I love that he's not perfect, and that he breaks the news to Flint in such a rough way (although it was originally planned for Jonel to do this, not Bronson). I love that he's just fuckin cool as hell
Thomas: I do love that he's really immature despite being a whole father of two. I love that he's one of the villagers with negative character development. He was always kinda childish or silly but it became an active negative character trait for him over time and I love that they did that. I also love his walk cycle, it's fuckin class and I love that he just always runs like that.
Mike: I love that he's an indicator of the lack of of connection in Tazmily after the timeskip. His grandkids never visit, he's completely alone at the old folks' home and Lucas saying hi to him means so much he gives Lucas a little spending money. I also think his nasty cookies are really funny and I love that Flint can pressure Mike into giving him multiple cookies in chapter 1.
Lisa: I love that she's part of the little squad of moms in town. I love that she laughs at Fassad's dumb speech. I love that her and Hinawa were best friends before she died, and that Lisa, in the story, was the one to introduce Hinawa and Flint! I love that because it adds fun depth to Hinawa and to the villager interactions.
Nichol: I like that he's jealous that Lucas gets to go to Titiboo. It's clear based on dialogue from the kids that this is really hyped up socially in exchange for a soul-sucking job and I like that he falls for it because he wants to be part of that community.
Richie: I like her design! You can tell I actually have no real opinions on the child characters sorry KRKF
Jackie: I love that he's such a massive coward and so nervous. I love that he goes from apologetic that he isn't helpful to actively hostile to the players in his own spineless way, showing that even he isn't above being cruel if it suits him.
Betsy: another fat woman I love and appreciate. I like that even though Jackie is a coward she still loves him, but she's kind of tough on him for being so nervous, though she's such a sweet person who never has a bad thing to say, even after the timeskip.
Tessie: Lovely design! I love how beloved she is in Tazmily. People seem to really adore her, and I think that's fun. I also like that she's got some attitude, like when Bob won't leave the bar so she can't finish up for the night until he does and she's bitching about it the whole time.
Wess: Love how he can switch between a loving, friendly person to a tyrant to Duster so easily. I love the complexity he has as a character, it really adds to his and Duster's stories. I love that he's consistently underestimated by other characters.
Ed: I love that he's one of the only other villagers who never gets a Happy Box even though Nan and Alle want one. I love that he's always quietly supporting Flint and the others. I love his design, and I love how calm yet capable he is as a person in helping keep rubberneckers out of the fire!
Scamp: I love him. Not much to say on him but I love that he's always been known as a scamp, that he loves his parrot, that he clearly was a total troublemaker when he wasn't bedbound. I love that he passes away, and no one really seems to care except for Ed's family, showing how distant the town is nowadays.
Nan: Love the purple eyeshadow, but my favorite thing about Nan is how much she seems to love Boney! Over the course of the post-timeskip chapters, Nan gets more and more excited to see Boney in particular and I think it's sweet she always takes time to greet him whenever he and Lucas visit.
Alle: I like that she's visibly the youngest kid in Tazmily. It's cute watching her grow up. She also has a great design.
Matt: I love how he tries to be helpful to Flint when the kids and Hinawa are missing and that he brings Flint Boney if Flint neglects to take his dog with him, showing how much he really wanted to help Flint even despite his drunkenness. I love that even he gets aggressive with Lucas at the very end because he's in denial about his own alcoholism and projects onto Lucas over it.
Jill: Love how much she loves her sons, since a lot of the parents don't actually talk about their kids much in the game! She clearly loves them a lot and misses them when they move away to New Pork. I love that although she isn't the nicest post-timeskip, she still tries to look out for Lucas out of instinct.
Biff: I love his design and I love how chill he is! He seems like such a down to earth person who minds his own business, and he's a great foil to Butch because of it. I love the scrapped sprites of him fishing.
Butch: I love how wildly immature he is, and how he jumps to conclusions because of it, but also how cowardly he is when someone stands up to him during his freakout (Kumatora). I love that he and Biff seem to hang out a lot, they're one of the closer sibling sets in Tazmily and it's endearing that they stick together.
Nippolyte: Love this strange little gravedigger who lives alone in the cemetery and how he calmly does his work. It feels like such an expression of affection for the town from a man who clearly doesn't really express himself much emotionally, so all he can do is make good graves for their loved ones and keep the cemetery clean. I love that he tends to crops in Osohe and that he seems to be totally chill with his more isolated life.
Isaac: I LOVE his character arc! He has one of the best side stories in the entire game and it really adds to the story and to his character! I love how lonely he is, how much he struggles to fit in no matter how hard he tries to be a part of his community, and therefore falls into radicalization because Fassad and the Pigmasks reach out to him and manipulate him into joining and supporting them. I love how cruel he becomes because he's found a community that "accepts" him, no matter how shallow it is.
Lighter: I love his sense of humor and his tough attitude and how he isn't afraid to do the right thing or speak his mind. I love how it's clear how much he loves his friends and community yet how individualist he is. I think it's so funny how he keeps rebuilding his house no matter how many times it gets struck by lightning, showing how determined he is.
Fuel: I love him helping with Caroline's bakery, it's so sweet.
Bud and Lou: I love that they're best friends, I love that they do standup together, and I love that they worked with and mooched off of Lighter. I love that although they said they stopped doing standup that they go right back to doing it in chapter 7. I like that Bud has a crush on Tessie since it's fun to see the character interactions in town, also foreshadowing how popular Tessie would become in post-timeskip Tazmily.
Flint: I love this flawed cowboy to death because it shows how good people can do bad things, but that it also doesn't have to define them. I love how much he struggles with his trauma and grief and how tunnel-vision his life becomes because he's desperate to put the family back together, how he'll do anything to make things right for Lucas while unfortunately not really being in Lucas's life as much because he's too obsessed.
Alec: Love his complex expression of grief, swinging from quiet grief to trying to keep the tone light to anger when he finds out the Magifolk and Lucas didn't stop Claus or when Fassad tries to offer him a Happy Box.
Leder: I love Leder for so many reasons it's almost impossible to describe. But I adore that he is this character outside of the story of Tazmily, somebody locked out of the community they've created because he is the one holding the story together. I love that no one seems to know anything about him, and that they're all so swept up in materialism and the new world that hardly anyone notices this so-significant person is gone. I love that he stayed silent to protect the story and to help the others be happy and thrive. I love that the Pigmasks clearly viewed him as a threat. I love how grave yet kind he is. I love his design. I love who he is. I love him because he is my favorite Mother 3 character and he is so special.
y'all could name any Tazmily villager and i could tell you something i liked or at least found interesting about them as a character. i think they're all genuinely excellent characters and i appreciate every single one of them
#psy's no punctuation posts#mother tag#tazmily#this took me a while but HERE YOU GO#every tazmilian... and something i like#i only missed Reggie Nippolyte Alec and Nana on my first go after i checked my villager list#yes i can remember where all of them live and all of their names and just all of them off the top of my head still

I’m also like I gotta re-contextualize a lot of Donna’s like earlier days courting with Valerius (and even Nadia too) by factoring in Sam as I haven’t LOL
like before making Sam, yeah it’s a very standard “nobility/upper class person dates someone “lower” than them” culture clash sorta set up, but now for Donna, Valerius isn’t the first rich dude they’ve dated and if anything Sam technically out ranks him LMAO in the least he’s definitely wealthier than him, and I’ve said he and Donna had a much more traditional sugar daddy set up lmfao
granted Sam isn’t classist in the same ways Valerius is, which is what leads to a lot of Donna’s issues with Val and their first break up. That’s where the tension/culture shock comes from: Val’s archaic views lmao But I think it’d be very funny/interesting to see Valerius think he’s wooing Donna with lots of lux dates/food/outings, and Donna initially pretending to be in awe, but in reality they’ve done this and more with Sam on the daily before lmfaoo
Eventually Valerius can tell their reactions aren’t genuine, and at first he’s annoyed because he thinks they’re just a commoner with insane taste/standards, which results in Donna fessing up that no, it’s just not. New to them. They like it!! They love and appreciate Valerius showing them this stuff!! But it isn’t the first time, and he’s not opening new doors for them or anything 😔😔 LMAO I think it would definitely be a blow to his confidence at first, but then he’d instantly go into a rivalry mode of “well I guess I have to up my game now 😤😤”
With Nadia, I think what would be more surprising is how much Donna knows about Prakra and how they casually let things slip in conversation that she thought only she would know. She knows Donna hasn’t traveled much (or that’s what she thinks LOL), so she’s confused on where it’s all coming from. She absolutely loses her mind seeing Donna prepare coffee in a more traditional Prakran style, and they’re just like 😳😳😳 when it’s revealed who Donna dated before Valerius, it all clicks for her though lmao (she subsequently then starts spoiling them in even more lavish ways. totally not because she’s jealous, oh no, but look how classier and refined her tastes are uwu)
#rambling#OC lore#this became more than I. intended LMFAO#I just have. thoughts in my head.#I’ve been thinking of Donna/Sam A LOT recently#t h e m 💕😔

Hi! Your blog is super cool and I wanted to ask: you have a lovely guide for people to read Stephen's comics, and you've also told us your favourite Wong or Clea or other stories. But, I also see like all of us there were stories you disliked or thought was badly written: will you ever consider making a list of comics to avoid if someone loves Stephen, or maybe just list some stuff you hated off the top of your head if that's too much work?
Hello!! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Oh my Vshanti, that's actually an excellent idea! I do have tons of stories I do not like and, while this is obviously my perspective and opinions, people can always feel free to read them or not.
Stephen has a relative consistency but sometimes, just sometimes, the stories are really really really bad. I'll make a list stating the reasons for sure!
1 - Doctor Strange v2 - Master of the Mystic Arts #50-53
Although I'm always eager to read stories in which Nightmare looks for Stephen's help, this one here is... not good enough. First, because of Morgana Blessing. I've made some posts on her and why I have many reasons to dislike her, but in here, it gets to the point of past lives and I dunno, it feels problematic to say the least... Also this is the reason why Clea left (and v2 overall is basically Clea feeling insecure about her powers and her relationship with Stephen, which is boring and uninteresting). The next issue (#54) will show how Stephen is dependent on Clea, and it's a good chapter, but I'd skip the ones with Morgana.
2 - Strange Tales v2
Yes. The whole run. The last issues of Doctor Strange v2 are bad enough due to the way Stephen's downfall towards dark magic is portrayed, but Strange Tales v2 takes the cake. He "kills" a man, he lies to Victoria and steals her powers, he becomes Kaluu's apprentice, he loses an eye (?) and becomes a diva (?) god, then he dies and is resurrected. I don't mind Stephen falling into a darker path, but only when it's well-written (as in, Hickman's New Avengers). This is not it.
3 - Doctor Strange - Sorcerer Supreme #60-90
It's the 90's. But I have far more reasons to dislike these stories. The moment Salomé strikes is the moment everything good about the lore so far goes down like a lead balloon. Imei is killed off (and later used as a tool to put Wong against Stephen), Clea leaves to lead the rebellion, Stephen’s self is split into three and lastly, the story I hate the most, Mordo gaslighting Stephen since he was just a kid, which leads him to consume alcohol (something that I’ll gladly ignore, especially in current runs).
4 - Uncanny Origins #12
This is the only, and I repeat, ONLY story in Stephen’s entire chronology in which Eugene is portrayed as an abusive father. And I don’t agree with that because what leads Stephen to become a cold man is Donna’s death. Eugene hardly appears in stories so it’s kinda odd to read that he was a terrible father, especially when Stephen talks to his family’s "ghosts” about how much he misses them and Eugene is there as well.
5 - Witches #1-4
I just dislike Stephen’s patronizing and arrogant portrayal in this, especially towards Topaz and Jennifer. It feels almost as if he was sexist.
6 - Avengers v1 #502-503; House of M #1-8
We can just all agree that HoM is a bad portrayal for 1) women; 2) WOC and 3) women struggling with mental health. I’ve talked about this before so I’m just summing it all up. Besides, Stephens lack of empathy while a doctor is just... yikes.
7 - X-Statix Presents - Deadgirl #1-5
This book isn’t bad for Stephen but it is really problematic in some senses (as in, a sexist black man falling in love with a racist white woman :S), not to mention TAO being used as a villain here. It’s not entirely canon (but it also it is because Deadgirl is working at Strange Academy so Idk). Anyways, pass.
8 - Fearless Defenders #9
You’d just know I’d add this story. It’s just bad and it pretty much ruins Stephen’s character by portraying him as a cheater and generally a sexist piece of garbage. It’s not only Stephen, tho. Cullen Bunn did that to all men involved with the female protagonists ew.
9 - Doctor Strange v5 #1-20
The reasons are all listed on my pinned post.
10 - Empyre - X-Men #1; #4
I really hate how Stephen was portrayed here, especially when it comes to his relationship with Wanda.
11 - Strange Academy
I’m just so done with this book. I don’t even have the strength anymore to explain why it’s so bad. I’m tired.
12 - Captain Marvel v10 #27-30
I really like Stranvers but the way Stephen was used as a fling only for Carol to rekindle her relationship with Rhodes was disgusting, not to mention how they ended up in bad terms. BIG YIKES. Plus the blatant BAIT on the covers.
EDIT
I forgot Defenders v4 as a whole, so you see how much I appreciate it *sarcasm*
13 - Defenders v4
Everything but the art sucks in this book, from Stephen’s portrayal to the story itself. Don’t waste your time (and that comes from someone who loves Norrin and Stephen interacting!!)
(dis)honorable mention: Death of Doctor Strange - Bloodstone. Stephen doesn’t appear but it’s just bad for him. Really bad.
Aaaaand this is basically the stories I dislike the most. I’ll certainly add more in the future, but let’s hope it’s not a habit /rip
#how can the sorcerer supreme be of assistance?#ask#doctor strange#stephen strange#do not read list#marvel comics

From the booklet which comes with the Spider-Man Trilogy Limited Edition Collection blu-ray!
This talks about the making of Spider-Man 2, here’s the bit about the first Spider-Man movie.
Click for a transcript:
THE EVOLUTION OF A SUPERHERO
“It was truly gratifying and even a bit overwhelming to witness how strongly moviegoers around the world reacted to Spider-Man,” said director Sam Raimi. “As a filmmaker, I always want people to really enjoy my movies, and on that level, Spider-Man exceeded my expectations.”
After the triumph of the first Spider-Man, Raimi knew he had a responsibility to follow it up with a story that justified the fans’ enthusiasm and their built-in expectations for the next adventure. “There’s great interest in this movie, following the success of the first one,” he acknowledged. “For the kids who come to see it, Spider-Man is their hero. So while the job of making this movie is to provide entertainment, it is also to create a story that shows them a moral character, someone who has to make tough choices and the right decisions in order to continue to be worthy of their admiration.”
The wealth of detailed stories and characters in the Spider-Man comic book series provided a mother lode from which to cull the plot for Spider-Man 2. “The Marvel artists and writers have done a great job through the decades – I know, because I’m a big fan myself – so there’s a tremendous amount of good material to draw upon,” noted Raimi. “Finding a storyline wasn’t that difficult. It was finding the right story, the one that made for a proper follow-up installment, and provided a logical progression for the audience and a logical growth for the character. For the, I relied on the terrific storytelling instincts of my very fine producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad. Together with the contributions of our great writers, we found a plot line with ideas that reverberated.”
With the storyline of the new adventure locked, Arad looked forward to the reunion of the Spider-Man filmmaking family, not the least of which was Tobey Maguire. “Tobey was so happy to be Spider-Man again and to be Peter Parker,” said Arad. “As an actor Tobey relished deepening the audience’s understanding of who Peter Parker is and who is becoming,” added Ziskin. “Peter’s a man who is transition, someone who’s struggling with the choices he is making.”
Maguire added, “The theme ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ is never lost on Peter. It’s difficult to be a young man and have to sacrifice as much as he has – presumably for the greater good – and to neglect his personal desires. The struggle continues here and it’s quite complicated, because Peter’s searching desperately for a way to achieve some balance in his life.”
As Peter becomes more immersed in his dilemma, it creates a rift between him and the important people in his life. Though his love for MJ is stronger than ever, she has moved on with her life, pursuing an acting career, living in Manhattan and moving in new social circles. “In this film, Peter is off in his own world and not a reliable presence in MJ’s life,” explained Kirsten Dunst. “She still loves him a great deal, so it has become painful for her to be around him. Though they’ve both done a lot of growing up in the past two years, at the same time, they’ve drifted apart.”
Then, as if Peter’s life were not complicated enough, the situation moves from bad to worse – much worse. Enter Doc Ock.
Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina) is a brilliant scientist whose life work has been dedicated to experiments utilizing fusion as a new source of energy. Charming, vibrant and energetic, Dr. Octavius is introduced to Peter by Harry Osborn.
“This movie is the story of Peter’s life, which is out of balance, and Dr. Octavius who, for Peter, represents someone who has achieved that balance,” explained Raimi.
“Peter sees Octavius as somebody who has mastered both his gifts – in this case science, through which he can serve the good of mankind, while also maintaining a personal life, a loving relationship with his wife Rosie (Donna Murphy). This leads Peter to the conclusion that it’s possible to have both.” Dr. Octavius, with the support of his wife, has been working diligently in his home laboratory, trying to perfect his groundbreaking fusion theory. But when a demonstration of his creation goes horribly wrong, Dr. Octavius undergoes a terrible transformation – evolving into the powerful, multi-tentacled Doc Ock.
In Spider-Man 2, the talented and versatile Molina brings this powerful adversary to terrifying life. “He is a formidable enemy for Spider-Man,” said Arad. “He can climb walls faster and better than Spider-Man. In fact, there’s nothing Spider-Man can do that Ock cannot counteract.”
Doc Ock, one of the most popular villains of the Spider-Man comic book series, first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man #3,” which was published in 1963. He immediately became one of Spider-Man’s most formidable foes. According to comic lore, each of Ock’s limbs can move at speeds of up to 90 feet per second and strike with the force of a jackhammer. The extremely powerful tentacles enable him to lift a vehicle off the ground, pulverize bricks, claw through concrete walls and hover above his victims by rising into the air.
The filmmakers were eager to attract Molina for the central role. “We needed someone who brought a palpable reality to the part, and who was also sincere, had a great sense of humor and personal warmth,” said Raimi. “Alfred is a brilliant actor, and what he’s brought so effectively to the character of Doc Ock is the sense of him as a misunderstood man who has turned into a beast.”
Molina confessed, “I’ve always been a Marvel Comic fan because their characters are so interesting. They have problems. They’re very realistic.” From him, the mechanics behind the role of Doc Ock was a true education. “It was mind-boggling, the breadth and the imagination that went into how each of my character’s actions – flying across the room, crashing through a plate glass window, smashing a taxicab – was to be executed. It’s a unique way of filming that’s not like anything most of us get to do really. It’s a very particular way of working, and absolutely fascinating.”
J.K. Simmons also returns in Spider-Man 2 as Peter’s gruff boss at the Daily Bugle, J Jonah Jameson. “I fire Peter several times in this movie. Every time I see him, I fire him,” laughed Simmons. “And then I re-hire him because there’s always some pressing need for his services.”
Principal photography on Spider-Man 2 began on April 12, 2003, in New York City, where the production spent approximately three weeks shooting at various locations in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, as well as on a Yonkers stage. From ground-level street shots to rooftops high above the city, the filmmakers efficiently utilized the time they spent in New York, giving them the opportunity to expand on the city’s unique environment, which had lent such vibrancy to the first Spider-Man.
“In the first film we established New York as a character in the movie. With Spider-Man 2, we went even further,” said production designer Neil Spisak. “We used a lot more of the city, including [photographic] plates of real buildings and real streets. Improvements in technology over the past three years enabled [visual effects designer] John Dykstra and I to marry existing buildings to scenery buildings to CG buildings even better than the first time around. It’s a much more complete experience.”
“We got more of a feeling of New York in this movie,” added Ziskin. “The movie is being shot in widescreen, which is appropriate because this is a different story, so it required a different approach.”
Production began on the campus of Columbia University in uptown Manhattan, which served as the university Peter Parker attends while he struggles with the responsibilities of his academic workload and his superhero duties. The rooftop of the Hotel Intercontinental, across from the Waldorf Astoria, was the location where Spider-Man contemplates his next move, while downtown, in the Wall Street area, another rooftop served as the “launch-pad” for the Spydercam camera, as it dipped and swooped over several blocks to replicate one of Spider-Man’s high-stakes aerial journeys through the city.
“We executed one of the longest wire shots the Spydercam has ever done,” said executive producer Joseph M. Maracciolo. “The Wall Street shot was around 2,400 feet. I’m an ex New Yorker, so I didn’t find the location shoot particularly daunting. But there are always difficulties when you’re doing wire work in New York, including the placement of the cranes on the buildings, the movement of the cast, crew and equipment, and of course, the crowds.”
“It was a challenge for us to move our production to the tops of buildings, but we couldn’t have been happier, because rooftops are Spider-Man’s world and that is his view of the city as he swings through it,” noted co-producer Grant Curtis. “It was breathtaking to see the world from 70 stories up – a world unto itself. You can’t fully really appreciate the beautiful architecture of New York’s skyscrapers from ground level. We showed some of that in the first film, but we wanted to show more of Spider-Man’s vertiginous world, and I think we really captured that with this film.”
In Spider-Man 2, Doc Ock sweeps Aunt May off her feet – literally – and takes her up several stories of a tall building. Rosemary Harris performed her stunts in a variety of harnesses, but only after she had managed to talk the filmmakers into letting her give her stunt double a rest. “I was a bit miffed at first, because my wonderful stunt double was going to do a lot of these harness maneuvers,” recalled Harris. “So I asked Sam and Laura, ‘Why not let me have a go at it?’ At first they were reluctant. But I begged them to at least let me try and they finally relented.”
Returning to Los Angeles, Spider-Man 2 shot on several stages on the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City. Stage 15 was home to the Daily Bugle offices, as well as Peter’s tiny apartment and Dr. Octavius’ elaborate home laboratory. On Stage 29, the Osborn mansion, where Harry Osborn now lives, was recreated. Stage 27 housed MJ’s apartment set, a giant spider web, the interior of the Planetarium, the massive clock tower set as well as various other set pieces. A series of elevated trains were built on Stage 14, where Spider-Man and Doc Ock match wits.
One of the most elaborate sets for Spider-Man 2 was the pier set, designed by Spisak and built over the course of 15 weeks on Soundstage 30. “In contrast to Dr. Octavius’ lab, which was part of his apartment – a streamlined, organized and clean space – the pier is a maniacal, decaying, decrepit space,” explained Spisak. “It follows his character development in terms of his becoming a wilder, more dangerous and more formidable adversary for Spider-Man.”
The set, approximately 60 feet wide by 120 feet long and 40 feet tall, was constructed over a water tank and enhanced by several different components, including CG/plate work and miniatures.
“Before we built the set, we created an exact ¾ scale model of it, about 7 feet long and 4 feet wide, from drawings and blueprints. The model was extremely useful to the carpenters, who could take measurements to help them construct the full-sized pier, as well as for the miniatures team, so they could ascertain the dimensions, textures and materials that were used,” explained art director Tom Wilkins. “We shot plates down in San Pedro, where we panned from a real pier to the water. In post-production a New York background was added. We also built a miniature pier – interiors and exteriors – to complete the composition on the East River.” The art department team designed a 136 foot by 40 foot-high vinyl backing to represent Ock’s view of Manhattan through a large window at the end of the pier set. Wave machines were rigged in the water to create movement under the pier.
The production then moved to the Universal backlot for two weeks of shooting. Several city streets were transformed into a variety of New York neighborhoods including the exterior of the Lyric Theatre where MJ performances in an off-Broadway production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Ari’s Village Deli and Bakery became the site of an extremely complex scene involving a quiet conversation between Peter and MJ, which is interrupted by Peter’s “spider sense” – and a car careening through the plate glass window, followed by the arrival of Doc Ock.
“It was a great luxury to be able to build that set from every aspect, so that we could do everything we needed for the scene,” said Spisak. “The walls were made of french plate so that when the car smashed through it, the buildings around it were protected. We were able to design what we thought it should look like visually, then as tricks, gags and stunts became clearer, we were able to add them to the set before it was completely finished.”
“The deli was a full, 360 degree set, with a kitchen, deli counters, pastries, ceiling fans and chandeliers,” added art director Steve Saklad, who worked closely with Spisak. “We dressed the exterior streets so that you could look out of the window and see the intersection of Lafayette Street and Astor Place. It required an enormous amount of signage, billboards, street dressing, trees and traffic lights.”
For Raimi, “The diner was a complex technical scene, because it brought together so many different departments, each relying on the other to fulfil their function and communicate with each other so that each individual shot would work. We utilized mechanical effects and the stunt department had to take an automobile, spin it and flip it through the deli window, with the prop department providing the breakaway items. What made it even more complex was that we had to fly Doc Ock in, using something we dubbed the “walk rig.”
The “walk rig” was created for Doc Ock, because the character not only moves himself, but his tentacles move him around as well. When he walks on the tentacles, they support his weight, so a device was constructed to harness him and move him through space as if the tentacles were supporting him. The visual effects department also created “virtual” tentacles where practical ones weren’t feasible.
When he was in full costume, Molina’s tentacles weighed between 75 to 100 pounds, depending upon the action required for the scene. Each of the tentacles was fully articulated. In their expanded, 13-foot length, each upper tentacle consisted of approximately 76 individual pieces Each vertabra was handmade, hand molded, sanded, individually hand painted, chromed, then painted again and assembled by hand. The entire collection of Doc Ock tentacles, bases, heads and wrists, if laid end to end, would be taller than a 20-story building.
Academy Award winning costume designer James Acheson welcomed the opportunity to further explore and improve upon the already classic Spider-Man costume for Spider-Man 2. “Creating the Spider-Man suit for the first film was a real challenge since we were designing for a kind of Cirque du Soleil acrobat, someone who had a unbelievable kinetic spiraling ability,” he said. “So the suit had to be extremely flexible. For the new installment we made several improvements, though you’d have to be a real enthusiast to spot them. The colors are slightly different, and we have made subtle changes in terms of the movement inside the costume’s hood. We also adjusted the eyepieces of Spider-Man’s mask as well as certain aspects of the spider design on the front and the back of the suit.”
For Spider-Man 2’s Doc Ock, Acheson and Raimi spent close to a year collaborating with Spisak and visual effects designer John Dykstra and working with Edge FX in what began as a series of “group think” sessions, according to Raimi. “I needed John Dykstra’s input, because it was John who was going to have to handle Doc Ock’s movements in CG, so he had to be involved in designing the character, along with Jim, who was going to determine the look of the character,” recalled Raimi. “Part of the look determined the movement, and what the arms look like began to govern how it functioned. Neil was involved because Ock had to be a part of Neil’s world in the film. A great interdependence developed among the department heads in order to achieve the complex nature and physicality of the character,”
“The challenge with Doc Ock is to visually create a believable world, focusing on a man with four tentacles growing out of his back,” said Spisak. “Now, that can be a tough swallow. So, in creating Ock and his world, we needed to design and play it so that everything was credible. Ove the course of several months, it became clear what was physically possible for Ock and what would have to be achieved via CG. We conceptualized the look and only then did we deal with the physical limitations, rather than letting them stop us at the beginning.”
Added Dykstra: “It was a huge challenge to make Doc Ock come to life. His tentacles had to meet several criteria. They had to be appropriate with regard to the world Neil had created for Spider-Man and Ock. The components of the costume – the texture and the weight – had to bed something an actor could actually wear. Since using the tentacles wasn’t always practical, we had to create ‘virtual’ versions with Edge FX. In the end, integrating the tentacles into the story was a marriage of all those components and the collaboration of everyone involved.”
Spisak and his team designed and dressed more than 100 sets and locations for Spider-Man 2. “There are probably 10 enormous sets, while some are simply street corners. We covered eleven blocks in downtown Los Angeles and used many rooftops, streets and buildings in New Yorj City,” noted Spisak. “This is certainly the biggest film I’ve ever done.”
Spisak worked with director of photography Bill Pope on the color palette for the sets, and they pored over research and location pictures to inspire them for the story’s lighting requirements. “In the first film, Peter Parker was younger, less aware and just beginning to discover his new powers. That was reflected in the overall look of the movie,” said Spisak. “With this film, he has been Spider-Man for a while, so his frustration over how to deal with his life versus his duty is more complex. That’s reflected in the color palette and the tone of this film – it’s a little more sophisticated, more complicated and deeper, in terms of color and look.”
Among the tools Dykstra and his team utilized to achieve the shots presenting Spider-Man’s point-of-view, while he is soaring over the city, was Earl Wiggins’ Spydercam. During the New York portion of the shoot, the specialized camera was launched using a remote-controlled computer suspended on a cable from a Wall Street-area rooftop more than 30 stories in the air, which recorded what DSpider-Man saw as he swung over the city. The camera traveled along a line suspended over four blocks, dipping down into the street and over the tops of several blocks of vehicles and background art that had been placed for the sequence.
“We were dropping the camera and moving it up and down over the course of the shot to follow Spider-Man’s trajectory as he swings through the arch, releasing a web, and shooting a new web as he swings into the traffic below,” explained Dykstra.
“One of the successes of the first film was the empathy the audience had for the main character. He was very sympathetic,” Dykstra said, “This movie explores the character in greater depth, and in terms of the visual effects, we’re hoping to give audiences an event more intimate sense of what it’s like to be Spider-Man. In the first film, we get to fly with him. The idea here is to make the flying sequences poetic enough and evocative enough that you will get an even stronger sense of what it’s like to fly like Spider-Man.”
That approach is reinforced by Raimi, said Ziskin, “One of the really striking aspects about Sam is that he is the audience for this film. He makes the movie for the audience, identifies with the characters and is always aware of the rhythms and how each sequence will play – both to him and the other members of the audience. That makes him the perfect director for this kind of material. Also, he’s at a point in his directing career where he’s at the top of his game. He is brilliant technically, but also works extraordinarily well with the actors. Ultimately, his personal connection to Peter Parker and the other main characters is a great gift to the audience.”
“These are tough, scary times and during such periods we look to heroic stories to give us hope,” noted Raimi. “Maybe that has something to do with why the audience was so taken with Spider-Man when he first appeared two years ago. With Spider-Man 2, I truly hope that audiences will feel that they’re seeing a love story, that they’re participating in another episode of Peter Parker’s life and are seeing the challenges and conflicts he faces and how he overcomes them. I hope it will leave them feeling uplifted and exhilarated.”
