Li usavano come robot anche se ai nobili andava meglio che ai poveri nessuno era libero. Infatti quando I cinesi volevano che i lavoratori si riproducessero davano un comando radio e tutti si sarebbero accoppiati col primo o i primi che incontravano, come animali. E’ durante uno di questi momenti fuori controllo che una nobile inglese viene violentata da dei cinesi e nove mesi dopo da alla luce una figlia con gli occhi a mandorla. Mina la protagonista del libro. Il pirata, il duca di ferro per fortuna riuscì a distruggere la torre radio degli Horde in Inghilterra e ne scaturì una rivoluzione che liberò la nazione. Ora L’Inghilterra è povera, ma libera, alcuni inglesi emigrati in America stanno tornando su suolo inglese ma due secoli di schiavitù hanno modificato molto la società…..Mina da esempio fa una professione che in passato era preclusa alle donne, è un ispettore di polizia. E un caso le fa incontrare proprio il Duca di ferro. Con il quale dovrà indagare su un omicidio che farà scoprire l’esistenza di un arma micidiale e di una cospirazione internazionale…..
