yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. I totally wouldn't because I know better." you don't wanna talk about the military industrial complex as a whole, and you don't want to talk about recruiters, you just want to pin the blame on Specific Individual People one-by-one, as if they're responsible for the system that they're being ground up in. someone was in the military? bad person, no matter what. it's easier to believe that, I guess, than to acknowledge that Normal People (with high school educations) are manipulated and incentivized into joining a system that is Bad. at like age 18. but yeah no that 18 year old should have just been smarter lol haha anyway here are some screenshots for no particular reason

It's Thanos and Mobius that are cut from the same cloth. Listen the thing that pisses me off so much about Mobius is the framing. He is framed as good and nice even while delighting in torture. Torture that was his call and and he choice to let continue out of spite. Mobius doesn't treat the things he does as necessary evils. He treats them as okay things to do as long as it's him doing. There is no sense of doubt, guilt or most people importantly a desire for something better.

There is a character in film Serenity that is how I think is right way to portray

The Operative knows he is doing terrible things. He truly believes those things are necessary, but he knows he is still terrible for doing them even if they are for a greater good. He doesn't act like he's morally superior to anyone and he's not happy about having to do those things.

Mobius is a Fascist. In practice and in ideology. He turns against the TVA not because he sees a parallel universe existing without trouble there for providing the TVA wrong. But because he finds out he is a Variant. Which doesn't actually mean that diverging timelines won't cause problems. It just means he wasn't created by the timekeepers. He didn't even find out the Timekeepers were fake until after he turned. He didn't want to think for himself.

One of the strongest redemption arcs in fiction is Zuko's from A:TLA. A very important part of what makes it work so well is him taking responsibility for his actions. Zuko was a child who was abused and no doubt heavily Indoctrinated in the fire nations propaganda, but he never hid behind it. He saw the wrongs and when he changed he didn't disassociate himself from the nation he just admitted.

I do not care if he thought he was made for a purpose because the problems go deeper than that. Mobius said he thought he was good, but when he is challenged on the obviously not good things he moves the goal posts says end justify the means.

Listen I am no fan of Sylvie. I have criticized the character plenty. I really don't think she's any better than TVA but she's not worse. At most she's just a different kind of terrible.

Mobius does everything for the same reason Thanos did. Because he thinks he's saving people and he wants the credit for doing so. He is a manipulative, two-faced lying abuser and that abuse he displays goes farther than what the job required.

Again why brought up Carol. She truly believed the Skrulls were evil even after learning the Kree lied to her. That belief has still been instilled in her. But once she sees they are not, she just apologizes. It doesn't matter how much she truly believed they were terrorists once she sees they are not she is horrified. She doesn't go up to Talos and his family and say "I only did what I thought was necessary" while also bringing up his wrongs.

My problem with Mobius is he's not portrayed as a fanatic with a warped broken sense of morality. He's portrayed as a nice guy who was just following orders.

All Carol needs is to see the people to know it's wrong. She needed to be lied to and have the truth about the refugees hidden from her because otherwise she would have never been apart of the Kree empire even if she believed she was a Kree. For Carol what's most important is for others to know not only that she never meant to harm but she is sorry for what harm she did cause. She's sorry, no one needs to prompt her to say it.

Mobius can't stop hiding behind the same excuses. He thought he was the good guy. Confronted with the clearly messed up things which good guys don't do he just says he thought ends justify the means but he never denied what he did was wrong. For Mobius what's most important is that Sylvie know he thought he was right and that she also did bad things. He has to be cornered into an apology.

The way people are becoming anti-children nowadays is really sad. And I'm not talking about people not wanting to have kids of their own, that's fine and something that shouldn't be shamed nor up to someone else to debate. No, I'm talking about the people who adamantly hate these little humans for simply existing, wanting to ban them from spaces due to them having emotional reactions that they are still learning to understand (you know, the kind of lessons that everyone had to learn and figure out at one point). It's gotten to the point where I've even seen these types of people genuinely support children being harmed and deny their hurt under the consensus of "Well then maybe they shouldn't be there," in your average public space. Like, imagine thinking hating on children, people who need assistance and guidance, is something to be proud of.

Fiona wasn't sure when it started. Maybe it was when Vee��s latest boyfriend broke up with her and she had to stay with the Gallaghers for a while, just until I'm back on my feet, Fi. But days turned to weeks and Fiona hadn't even thought about asking her to leave. Instead she told her friend to get off the couch, come crash with her, my bed’s big enough for two people, it's fine. None of the kids minded, either; they all loved Vee like she was another big sister. Not that Fiona would ever ask, but Vee didn't need her to—she picked up the slack where Fiona fell short, and between the two of them they had managed to get the Gallagher household in decent shape.

And sure, they'd always been the kind of friends who hugged and kissed a lot, had been from the start. It was so easy to fall into it with Vee, who might have been all sharp-tongued and rough edges, but they fit together like puzzle pieces. Affectionate hugs in the kitchen, cheek kisses when Fiona made Vee laugh and vice versa, draping themselves all over each other when they sat on the couch with the younger Gallaghers as they all watched TV on cable they'd “borrowed” from the neighbors.

But somewhere along the line, Fiona started to feel a swooping in her stomach whenever Vee winked at her, or put her arms around Fiona's waist. Her heart skipped a beat when Vee would wear those shimmery, slinky tops on nights they went out to the club; an ache grew in her heart when they danced, pressed up against each other with arms slung over each other's shoulders. She didn't know what this was—didn't want to name it—but she couldn't stop thinking about it. Loved it whenever she could make Vee laugh, that unflattering kind where she snorted loudly and sounded like a parrot. (Fiona didn't feel bad about thinking that, since Vee always told her she laughed like a dying hyena. So fucking sue her.)

But then one night they'd been drunk, so fucking drunk, hanging all over each other like they couldn't stand to stop touching. Fiona's heart kept pounding in her chest, loving the way Vee’s dark, smooth skin felt against her own. Loved the way their fingers looked, laced together like they couldn't bear to let each other go. And it was true—Fiona didn't want to let go, wanted to keep Vee close, all wrapped up in her arms.

Maybe it was the giddiness, maybe it was the liquid courage, but Fiona knew it was all on her when she turned her head at the same time Vee did, planting a sloppy kiss on her best friend's lips. The club was dark and packed with people, but right then it felt like the two of them were alone in the world as Vee stared at her with those beautiful brown eyes. Then she muttered something under her breath—Fiona couldn't figure out what exactly—and kissed Fiona back, just for a moment.

It was all a blur after that, a drunken moment of nervous laughter, hands squeezing one another's tightly. They stumbled off the dance floor in their heels, ignoring everyone they bumped into so they could get away faster. Somehow they managed to sneak away, find an empty bathroom stall, and Fiona grabbed Vee by the wrist and pulled her in so she could lock the door behind them.

Vee turned them around, pressed Fiona against the stall door, murmured “fucking finally” before pressing their lips together hungrily. Fiona clutched at her shoulder, other hand at Vee’s waist, and she'd never felt higher than this. Vee’s long, beautifully manicured nails carded through Fiona's wild mess of hair, tracing lines along the back of her neck that made Fiona shiver. Nothing mattered right now except this. Fiona made a lot of stupid decisions when she got drunk, but this definitely wasn't one of them.

When they finally broke apart for air, the two of them stared at each other for a long time, breath coming fast and harsh, pressing their foreheads together.

“...you said finally,” Fiona managed to get out. “That mean…you, uh…”

“It means exactly what it sounds like,” Vee said, her voice fond. She brushed Fiona's dark hair out of her eyes, playing with one of Fiona's earrings as her hand swept back. “Didn't know if I should say anything. Didn't wanna fuck things up between us.”

Fiona laughed breathlessly. “I get it. I uh…yeah. Me, too.”

There was a moment of silence before they both burst out into laughter, their heads resting on each other's shoulders, knees twined together.

“Damn, you're the worst,” Fiona said, giggling.

“Shut the fuck up and kiss me again, bitch.”
